Professor Cavanaugh, Ph.D, has absolutely no comprehension of the capacity of the human mind. Mark is present not to teach, but to show us how to teach ourselves, and his idealogical views rule the class, but if you are subjective, you better watch out!

What a terrible professor!! Not only is he a male chauvanist, but he discourages you from expressing any type of view on the course material. His opinion is the ONLY opinion. he only favors male athlete students and disrespects all others.

Very unorganized. Does not teach ANYTHING from the book, but yet tests you on those subjects. Does very little teaching and talks about his own views. Very biased and a overly smart mouth. Power trip. I'm an A student in all my other classes..but RUN for the hills.

Doesn't teach you anything, just speaks about his personal life and experiences. You have to read SO much and be perfect with grammar and punctuation in papers. I think he may have bipolar. His mood swings are horrendous. If you're an athlete you shouldn't worry about grades too much.

He does not teach you anything in the tests or papers, just speaks about his own personal life and experiences. You waste one class per week watching a movie and he also likes to give grammar lessons. His mood swings are unbelievable and I would not recommend taking this class if you do not like to read 200 pages of sociology per week.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR ANY SIOLOGOLY COURSES IF YOU ARE NOT THAT MAJOR. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. TIME-CONSUMING AND NOT HELPFUL IN ANYWAY.

Be prepared to hear about how he went to Notredame because that is all he literally talks about. He gives weekly quizzes on the textbook and a weekly paper as well. The weekly paper was the hardest thing I've ever done and cares more about grammar than the content of your essay. He has a movie day every Friday. He definitely notices is you're there

Make sure to sit up straight don't breathe, hands on your legs, and do not look anywhere else but at him. The rudest man I have ever crossed paths with. Make sure that if you are late to class DO NOT GO unless you like being screamed at in front of classmates. He once said "he likes to tear down peoples egos", I think someone should tear down his.

Very rude. Hates getting emails & does not explain assignments. Doesn't like it when you speak to him/ask questions. Nothing on your desk, you must be completely silent as he rambles about his personal accomplishments. Berated me saying I would never succeed in my major. Doesn't care about you. Have correct grammar on papers. Don't do it!

Professor Cavanaugh is rude and condescending. Does not like answering questions is class and argues with students who oppose his views. Most of his classes are rants about the president and does not involve what is tested. His paper reviews are harder than most but not unreasonable. 1/10 would not recommend.

Awful. I have not learned a single thing about sociology. He is extremely self-centered and egotistical. He argues with students who disagree with him. He talks about hating the president during every class even when it is completely irrelevant. His lectures have nothing to do with his tests. He does nothing to help his students.

I will not take this class again. Literally, he acts like an English teacher instead of a science one. He doesnt give you room for error and is completely unreasonable.

He lectures about things that are not even relevant to the class curriculum and does not give good instructions. We had to write a 3pg paper, the entire class was confused on what to do, and when asked about it, he simply said I cannot believe you don't understand and simply moved on. He didn't even attempt to answer the question. Ridiculous.

One of the worst professors to take. Very rude and unapproachable. Will make you feel like a nobody and look down at you. While he is not hard on grading enduring him talk and dealing with him is too much. If you have a different opinion than him he will not like you. Never take him and spare yourself the trouble and headache.

This man is horrible. Very cruel and nasty. His tone and how he speaks to people is absolutely disgusting. I do not understand how the honors college even allows a professor like him. He looks down at students and feels like he is better than everyone else even if you have a valid point. I would never recommend taking him, He is atrocious.

This man was vulgar. He has no empathy for any personal situation you may be going through. Don't try to email him either, he won't respond or will be extremely rude. I took it online expecting it to go smoothly as far as course load goes, we had 4 exams; he gave me a zero on an entire part of an exam for no reason. My grade went from an A+ to D+.

He is rather boring and is not very engaging at all. He does not let the students get involved in the lecture. He also tends to talk about himself rather than the subject. He also does not let us take notes in his class even if it helps you focus. He also stops the lecture when you walk in late to class and stares at you until you get to your seat.

He is very rude and sassy. He doesn't really help you a lot with the work he assigns. Very tough grading and very picky with essays. He will find any reason to take off points when it comes to essays. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. there are better teachers and I'm sure the majority of people who took him feel the same.

I had the misfortune of taking Dr Cavanaugh's online sociology class this semester. I had high hopes for the class, however, the man teaching the class is rude whenever you reach out for help, provides next to nothing on feedback for essays, and when he does give feedback it's for the most minuscule things, like the spacing between citations.

ALL THIS MAN LIKES TO DO IS HEAR HIS OWN VOICE IN CLASS. HE DOSENT LET HIS STUDENTS TALK AND IS TOTALLLY SEXISIT TOWARDS THE GIRLS IN HIS CLASS. A GIRL PUT A HAIRTIE IN DURING CLASS AND HE YELLED AT HER NOT TO GROOM HERSELF IN HIS CLASSROOM. WHEN A GIRL YAWNED, HE STOPPED CLASS JUST TO SINGLE HER OUT YET HE DOES NOT CALL OUT HIS MALE STUDENTS.

IT IS VERY OBVIOUS HIS OLD SCHOOL WAYS OF THINKING HINDER HIM AS A TEACHER. HE IS UNWILLING TO COMMUNICATE AND COOPERATE WITH HIS STUDENTS TO FIND OUT WHAT WORKS WELL FOR THEM. INSTEAD, HE HAS DECIDED HE HAS FINAL SAY AND "CANVAS DOSENT GRADE YOU I DO" HE MADE IT VERY CLEAR IF HE DOSENT LIKE YOU AS A PERSON HE WILL GLADLY LOWER YOUR GRADE.

his lectures are just so he can yap for a hour straight, because his tests are literally only on the textbook that you have to pay for, so going to his lectures are pointless since none of the stuff he says is in the test. not to mention after looking up more info half of the stuff he talks about is blatantly false after a quick google search.

this professor only gives out tests. They consist of multiple choice and essay questions, he is an extremely tough grader. even if you make a tiny mistake in your citations with correct information, he still gives you a zero for the question. Even when you do actually cite correctly, he still finds a way to mark you a zero for the essay answer.

If you've always wanted to learn about a professors high school cheer song and hear all about how he's besties with the dean while being spoken to with disrespect and distain look no further! This is the professor for you! If you don't expect any understanding, compassion or actually sociology teachings this is the perfect teacher for you.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! he is an extremely rude individual who doesn't care about anyone but himself. I took his course thinking it was going to be light and making sure 'm reading and citing correctly but noooo, he grades heavy and marks the whole question wrong if not cited the way he wants. He will let you fail.

Avoid if possible, you've been warned.

Political rants every class for the entire class. Unbelievable waste of time. Never actually taught sociology. Can't hear he's genuinely near deaf so there's no way to make the class a discussion. Awful.

Went in for one class and all he kept talking about was biased political belief. He would make you feel as if you are the worst person on earth if you don't share the same opinion. Not allowed to take any notes. Hardly talked about sociology and only talked about himself.

RUN as FAST AS YOU CAN. thats all i have to say, on the first day of class he told us were not allowed to have anything on our desks, meaning we cant take notes, extremely arrogant, self absorbant, and disrespectful. reading the reviews i thought to myself "i wont drop this class ill give him the benefit of the doubt" no. RUN.

he doesn't actually ever teach sociology but he talks about himself, his travels, and his political beliefs ALL the time. he is very rude and entitled, he thinks his opinion is the only correct one. grades wise the class is actually really easy there's only like 2 papers and a few open book quizzes. only take the class if you absolutely have to.

ACTUALLY CRAZY. CRAZY. Would talk about political beliefs ALL OF THE TIME. You were not entitled to your own opinion. Would say wack things about women and other religions. Zero sociology taught, just him and his political beliefs.

From first day to the last, not allowed to have anything on the desk. Would scream at anyone who moved even the slightest. Shouldn't be allowed to teach. made rude comments towards students who had different beliefs. If you didnt share his poliitical beliefs, you would be absolutely screamed at felt uncomfortable in his class.
