hard professor!! avoid at all cost! i got a B+ which is good for his class ! he lectures okay and his test questions really test whether you understand the main concept out of his lecture slides. clicker questions are important and i'd say attendance is mandatory since you NEED to get any clicker question you can right to get some points!

If you are in a learning community, ASK ASK ASK questions to your SI leader and don't be afraid to ask "what if..." because most likely it will be on the midterms. Chappell is by far the hardest professor you will encounter in your freshman year, so don't be shocked to find out that both midterms have averages of 14/35. Chappell wants you to apply the knowledge that you learn in lectures, so focus on the concepts more than the copious amounts of detail. If you work hard enough, you'll get an A.

Chappell is one of the most arrogant professors teachers I have ever met in my entire life as a student. And study the lecture slides EXTREMELY well!

Exudes apathy when faced w student issues affecting performance. Believes enough leeway is "built-in" like clicker question requirement. Never missed class & I still got 70% (69%) Q's on 2 midterms and final are cryptic and take more time to comprehend than whole test itself. Curve saves at end. Exam "review" waste of time. Study pwrpts & read.

By the way he structures his questions, Chappell has high expectations of his students. The subject material itself isn't hard, so long as you understand it to the point where you can thoroughly explain it. However, his tests are difficult because it not only tests your knowledge but also the way you think through the structure of the sentences.
