Prof. Chiappone is a great teacher. If you study his study guides and answer the study questions you will get an A. He is such a great teacher. At first before taking his class I thought great another science I could care less about but Mark is so passionate about oceanography he makes it fun.

He is the best teacher I have ever had in MDC. He really cares about all his students, and he teaches in a way that you would understand. Even if you are the worst at math take him, he will help you. Do all the homework and take notes. He is the greatest teacher!

prof chiappone is my fav at mdc. he's amazingly goodhearted. super helpful and understanding - everything you'd want in a prof, he's got it. i absolutely recommend him for any science/math classes you need. i'm taking him for my 3rd semester this fall.

Prof. Mark- He is an invaluable and helpful professor in the science depatment. If you do not like science, I highly reccomended him because he breaks it down in layman?s term. You do not need the book because he uses PowerPoint all the time, and you can access that information on his website. You want regret taking him!

Prof. Chiappone is a really great Professor. He makes all of his Power Point presentations avail. online, as well as the vocab.(which there is a quiz on in almost every class) and practice tests(which the questions on the exams are taken from). He is very intelligent and funny.

This professor is amazing! There's no cumulative final! All the test questions are taken from the practice test whitch is like ever test being like a take home test! He breaks the grading down very well. 5% for atendance 10% for online quizes 30% for vocab quizes and 55% for exams.With the class broken down this way,you realy learn and you get an A

best teacher ever!! i took him for marine biology and he gives you everything in front of you, all he asks is you actually do the practice test (which are the same questions in the exams) and do vocabulary quizes (word banks.. so extremely easy) i'm taking him again for oceanography! believe me when i say TAKE HIM!

get the ebook, makes vocab quiz sooooo much easier! practice test are VERY simular to real test. i also took him for OCE1001 @homestead, just do vocab quizes and test(practice tests also VERY simular to real tests)good structure for both classes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

He gives you all his lectures, and the study questions online, the practice test questions are the exact same questions on the test. Not only is he easy, he really cares and he loves to talk and it's very interesting. He jokes alot he's just a all around good guy.

Chiappone was my first professor at Dade.. he's really awesome, and he loves to help out his students. Exams come from your practice tests, so be sure to always do them and ask him for help whenever needed. It's worth taking the class, and if you're up for a challenge, take the eight week terms of OCE1001 and OCB1010. You will not regret it!

Very easy class. Do not buy the text book. You will never use it. Just buy the account to the online website for about 30$. All you have to do is google the answers to his reviews which he provides online, Study the answers and questions, and then take the exams. Exact same questions and answers as the reviews. Just dont be lazy and you will get A+

This professor is wonderful. He's as kind as can be and really knows and loves what he does. He gives you everything you need to know for tests and often gives you the answers himself. He is eloquent, organized, and really cares about his students. The study guides are extremely long so just prepare yourself for those and you'll be just fine.

He is a really good professor who cares and a super nice person. You should definitively take him.Study hard for the exams, which are 60 questions but you need to know the concepts well. Great Professor may speak a bit too fast but you'll get used to it. Easy class, for vocab words for the quizzes is better for you to find them at the glossary of the textbook. Do all the practice tests! He picks questions from the practice tests for the tests!

I took this teacher beacause of the comments and his rate. In my term he kills all of us. Some students says it was because the term before that one some random student stole his lab book with his answers. The exam were all like MCAT quesion the students with the most correct answer on the tes was a 52%. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

When I took his class he gave us study guides and the test was EXACTLY the same thing. Word for word, question for question. All you had to do was find the answers to the study guide in his class notes (which was the hardest part). I liked knowing I wasnt going to be surprised by what was on the test like you are with most professors.

His class won't be challenging if you show an interest and really read the book.

He is nice, he helps a lot.First he gives u homework that are question and u can find the answer in ur book or internet haha.Then the ask the same question of the homework in the tests. Its an easy class if u show interest, u dont even have to be smart to pass haha. Chiappone is the best!

I haven't ever ever hate someone as I hate this professor. HE is just too hard, he loves filling in the blank tests, he doesnt do his test multiple choice anymore. the tests are 50-100 questions and non of it was multiple choice. He kinda explains good, but must of the topics you have to study by yourself. the average of my class was a C

Or perhaps it is because people do not come to class prepared, expect all of the questions and answers ahead of time, expect to memorize their way through, and then get slammed at the next level.

I think biology is an extremely difficult course. I first took it at a university and failed miserably. I think professor chiappone made the course much more passable while still keeping it similar to a university setting. all you had to do was ask him questions if you don't get something. You HAVE to read. If you don't, don't expect to pass.

Although he is organized in sending reminder emails before every assignment, it's not an easy course. The book is mandatory and you'll need to read every chapter given or else you won't pass. NO STUDY GUIDES, he expects you to memorize everything or "study from your quiz" but you are never guaranteed the exact questions on the midterm/final.

Watch out because every single darn class has a quiz...gotta study vocab but not too difficult sometimes i.e. gyro, up-welling, tectonic plates. On the up note, Chiappone does keep you informed about your grade and keeps you informed about your tests and quizzes quite alot. Word of note: test questions come directly from mastering oceanography.

Chiappone is one of the best professors that I have had at Dade. I've taken him for Oceanography and Bio 1 & 2 and he really knows his stuff. He answers all questions and gives thorough explanations. For Bio, he does test reviews and you can ask him about anything that'll be on the exam. He doesn't give out free grades, you have to work too.

I WOULD CHOSE HIM OVER ANY TEACHER ANY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is such an amazing professor, I never enjoyed being in a class or looking forward to go to class the way I do when its time to go to his class. gets right to the point and is extremely helpful! would take him a million times!!!

HW done online, no midterm or final. Weekly chapter vocab quiz (take home/open note) all the answers to the exams he gives out on hw assignments or can be found on Quizlet. Overall, articulate and a really awesome guy! Def taking bio1&2 w/labs with him!

He was one of my favorite professors I've taken by far. He really cares about students and designs his class so that even if you don't ace the tests, you have a lot of homework opportunities to even it out. I took him in a 6 week term so it was a lot of info fast but he honestly made it so easy to understand, so glad I was able to take him.

Professor Chiappone is the best biology professor I have ever had, and the best Professor at Miami Dade College Homestead Campus by far. He truly cares about how well you learn, how well you do in his class, and about where your life will take you. I have also had him for EVR1001 and OCE1001, and he is a great teacher of these courses as well.

Super easy! He makes it very interesting! The work is done online so very mellow, and it works around your schedule. Only 3 Chapter tests. If you need a science credit, take him and take this class.

Best professor I've ever had, I had him for both BSC 2010 and BSC2011 and I fell even more in love with Biology. Although his class is a bit tough because it is a lot of memorization, his passion for the topic shows through.

Prof. Chiappone is a dynamic educator who genuinely likes to help you learn. He is aware of the large volume of content to cover &amp; manages the world load wisely. This course is hybrid so expect weekly homework and online quizzes. I really enjoyed this lab &amp; the Profs real life examples &amp; humor. He wears many other hats as coast guard &amp; scientist.

I wish all of my prof. were like this guy. He is kind and tries his best to teach you the material. He does give a lot of work but that helps you balance out his somewhat hard exams. All you really have to do is study the material he gives you and you will for sure pass his class with at least a B.

I took the course online fairly easy. However, I suggest really focusing on the homework because in the long run that is what determines your grade I ended up with an 88%. I messed up the first few assignments by rushing through them. Other than that really simple class I would take all over again.

Super easy class IF you have a basic understanding of basic biology. Reading the chapters helps but isn't necessary. Just show up. HW's are online answers online. No midterm or final. Tests ever 1-2 weeks on the current chapter and they're just like the HW. Vocab quiz almost every week but they're not hard. He's a nice guy but can be sarcastic.

Took this course in a 6 week summer semester. Lots of work but nothing crazy. Professor Chiappone gave some great lectures and did amazing for having to switch to online in such short notice. Make sure to show up to class or you will miss quizzes and tests.

Chiappone is one of the best if not the best professor I have taken at MDC. He knows his subject matter very well and even tough there's alot of homework and quizzes if you pay attention or just complete the learnsmart everything should be really easy. I took him previously for bio 1 (2010) and he was the same for that class! Definitely recommend

His class consists of weekly vocabulary quizzes, online Pearson homework, and 4 tests. I missed one test, and four vocabulary quizzes and still got a B. Do the work and this class should be an easy A.

Professor Chiappone's class was very good, live classes, attendance mandatory, content quizzes every approximately 2 classes, you do have to do homework for every chapter on Pearson but you'll get full credit as long as you finish it. Final is not cumulative, only 4 tests and they are not proctored, but they are timed. Great professor overall.

Took his class online and it was a breeze.. he gives out homework and a quiz after each chapter which is only 10 questions. Midterm and final was both proctor and no discussion board was required. Overall it was an easy A.

Honestly, very great professor. He cares for his students. Very lecture heavy but he likes to make them interesting. There is lengthy homeworks & concept quizzes. Looking for an easy bio class, choose professor chiappone!

Regular lab class. Labs are pretty short and straight to the point. What kills me are the reports. They're about 11-15 pages long. But you can get some answers from the write up guide. Expect to be working in groups the entire semester. Other than that, great professor. Definitely taking for Bio 2

Professor Chiappone is a great biology professor. I had him for both lab and lecture. He made the material easy to understand and easy to follow. His tests and quizzes are directly related to the reading material in the textbook and homework. You can tell he's extremely passionate about the subject and teaching it.

Mark's class is straightforward - lots of homework, but manageable. Engaging lectures and easy A for non-majors. Unstuck ai is a great study tool to supplement the work.

Took this professor in Spring 2024 and all I can say is that he's a nice professor that gives good lectures but gives a lot of homework and the exams are in person but still easy so to those that are taking BSC1005, take his course but that's if you don't mind taking the exams in class.

I took him for Bio 1 too and he made the material very understandable. He's very passionate to share what he knows. Highly recommend him!!!
