Very nice teacher, fun, easy going. Always there to help if you need it, if you want a good teacher that really knows his stuff, take Dr. Churchill.

This guy is a fantastic teacher. His strength is helping his students out. He is very understanding when it comes to students needs. As for the class, if you do awesome on the first two tests (which you will see are MUCH easier than the rest) you will be in very good shape. Churchill is the man.

You will never see a teacher like Dr. Churchill. He knows everything about chemistry. He's a very helpful teacher. His exams are easy. But it is not an easy A class.

okay, heres what you need to know; if you do not know and love chem to begin with DO NOT take him. he is a very SWEET guy and wants to help but he is to much of a 'ivory-tower' teacher. Hes to intellegent to make things simple enough to understand but, tries VERY hard to do so. teaches form his book but does not work out any problems on board.

Dr. Churchill is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He is very intelligent and makes Chem easy to understand. His lab book, and lecture notes are so organized that it makes Chemistry easier! He also makes class fun! He's always there for you when you need it. If you take his class you will learn a lot because he is such a great teacher!

He Cracks Jokes often, but that's all you'll pretty much learn. Oh, and don't forget about all his conversations with his buddies in the middle of taking your tests. It really helps you concentrate, don't take this class with him...

Awesome teacher who will prepare you better than any other chem teacher. Knows more about Chem than any teacher at Moraine. He will prepare you for Organic and even PCAT, DAT, MCAT...

He is by far the best teacher at MVCC! His class is fun and exciting. He is always there to help you before/after his class or during his Office Hours. He gives out practice problems/quizzes, and he makes the material easier to understand. If you do the HW & Practice Quizzes you should do fine! Take Dr. Chruchill because you will learn a lot!

Love him!! He is not an easy "A" though. If you don't want to work hard, don't bother with him or chem. But if you need it, I think you should take him. The first two exams are the easiest to pass. I HATE chem and was afraid of it, but I ended up getting an "A" this semester. Go figure?

This is so easy...if you do the homework, which you don't have to turn in btw, you will do awesome on the tests which means you will do awesome in the class...trust me, pay attention in class, do the hw problems, and you will get an A. If you're too lazy for that, then you don't deserve an A.

He was a nice enough teacher, and his labs are easy. The lectures are just really boring and its hard to pay attention because all he does is read off his book on a powerpoint. I didn't like this class because he never did any problems on the board or anything. The tests were ok, as long as you do the homework he gives you (which are not mandatory)

Churchill is a great teacher, he is extremely helpful and funny. The labs are a breeze but the exams are HARD and you will need to study his notes (no need for the hardcover), and his homework questions extensively to get a good grade. Watch out for his Intelligent Design references that he tosses into his lectures though.

overall the class was good. He is a really interesting teacher who teaches the material really well. All you have to do is attend classes and do the homework. You dont even have to buy the damn book. This class was an easy A or B if you do that. The tests are tricky though but not impossible. Most people complain bc they dont do the homework. idiot

Dr. Churchill is one of the greatest professors I know. He teaches the material so that everyone could understand the material. He has numerous examples in his blue book that covers every type of problem that you will see on homework, tests or the practice quizzes. He's always there to help! He really knows how to make class fun,and understandable.

Amazing teacher. He wrote the book and its very clear. Very smart man, excited about topic and hilarious. He tries to teach chemistry with as little or as simple math as possible. He'll never treat you like your stupid. an 88% is an A. if Final is higher, it replaces lowest test score.

I thought this class was easy with the way it was layed out. If you knew the homework you would know the tests. I WISH more classes were like this. It couldn't have been structured better and I'm really going to miss this class and teacher. If you're good at math this class is downright easy. You'll learn a lot by the end though! he is a ice teacher and he knows chemistry like his name but he doesn't know how to teach all he does is read from his book and he say that this class is so hard comparing to 131 I droped the class and I toked it again AND I FOUND THAT IS SO EASSY CLASS BUT NOT WITH HIM because he is something .

He knows about chem, but does NOT know how to teach! He reads off of a powerpoint and doesnt do any examples in class. The only time you learn anything is doing the homework, which you basically teach yourself. I just want to fall asleep in his class. The labs aren't difficult but they're only worth a small percent of your grade. Tests are hard

He is amazing. One of the best teachers I have ever had. You will get A's on all the tests if you do all the homework. There are objectives for exams in the beginning of the book too. The only people who would fail this class would be lazy people.

Only class I have ever had to retake in my college years (and im a pre-med student) Dr. Churchill is a very nice person, but he rambles off the subject and makes it even more confusing than it is. His tests are multiple choice so its either you get it or you dont. However, if you complete all your homework and understand it youl be fine-HARD CLASS

this guy is sooo boring! i've had to retake this class 3 times now because he doesn't teach! he reads the power points and leaves you more confused then before you got to class. :/ the tests require a lot of studying and the labs are basically worthless to your grade.

He uses power point alot and gets off topic alot also. Makes terrible jokes but a funny one once in a while. He does explain everything but because he gets off topic alot, you lose interest. I was bored all the time during lectures.

Disregard all the negative comments and ratings for this teacher and look at the good ones. I just took the 4th exam and about to take the final next week. Mr.Churchill is one of the best professors at this school. I recommend you take this professor. He is very helpful with all subjects and not just chemistry. I recommend Mr.Churchill is all!

Very easy class. You buy his textbook, he gives you a packet of problems for each lecture. The questions are the same on the test. Do the homework and study, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. The material is hard, you really just have to keep up on it. He provides you with everyting to suceed. Anyone who gets a C or lower is lazy.

OOOOMMMMMMMMGGGG SO hard, i hated the class time, labs were fun and interesting. The teacher is helpful if you need help, but the class itself it awful, you have to actually study for these tests... and go over and over and over the problems in order to get by. He gives you quizzes and homework to do and I highly recommended that you do them.

Easy class. Made his own textbook that is awesome and useful. Do your homework because the exams are like it. Homework isn't graded but exams are the same. Very helpful teacher and nice. Has a good sense of humor and lectures are never boring. Overall I wish he was teaching organic and he is my favorite chemistry teacher. Thank you professor Churchill!

I would be delighted if he taught all the Chem classes at MVCC because he's one of a kind. He's a pretty cheerful professor in class, too. No one comes as close to CHM class than Dr. Churchill and I mean no one.:) May God Bless You!

Took him for Chm132 and by far the goofiest teacher at MVCC. One day he got on the floor and did like 25 push-ups during class. Always does goofy voices. Makes weird photoshop pictures of himself and shows the class. Class is definitely interesting and tries very hard to keep you focused. Not too hard especially if you do the homework.

Boring is the best word to describe him.He just reads from his notes all day long-i can do it myself, don't need someone to read to me.Never works out any problems, but then puts them ont he test.I could barely stay awake, thats how boring he is.

This teacher is horrific. Does nothing but stare at a few girls in the class and helps them only. Asked a question and got a stupid response from him. Test are not like what the others say, he thinks that everyone is a chemistry major. Don't take it.

I work nights 11pm to 8am. I had to stay up until 11am for this 2 hour and 40 min class. I would literally be dying to go to sleep but the professor made the class so interesting. He always had a way to keep you involved. One of the best teachers I have ever had.

I never had this guy for a teacher, but I did use his book Chemistry 132 Class notes, and I was very impressed by it. It was very helpful and easy to understand. Nice job on the book if your reading this Mr. Churchill!

Dr. Churchill is an awesome chemistry teacher! He makes chemistry EASY. Working on the problems right after the lecture isn't a good idea because you will forget stuff and not remember it on the exam. I recommend that you do all the homework problems a night or two before the exam. Do the practice quizzes before the final! It's easy to get an A!

Gives you the tests like the study guides. He is a very nice teacher. I think attending class and listening in class would get you a B. But if you even dont attend class and read his study guides and his book you will get a B. LOL. his book is exactly what he lectures in class. JUST STUDY IT

He's a nice guy, but lectures should not be as long as they are. He can ramble sometimes and it gets annoying when you work full time and need to get to work. A lot of people struggled with the tests - including me. I think I'll barely pull off a B and I'm an A student. Maybe Chemistry just isn't my thing? Nice guy - but make sure you study.

I wouldn't recommend this teach at all. I worked my butt off in that class, and it didn't pay off at all. There's a lot going on at one time, and I would imagine that in chemistry class you'd end up doing example problems in class. That's not the case here, he just talks for 3 hours about the textbook he wrote via powerpoint.

I studied 4 hours a day in CHM, I did the homework multiple times, practice the quizzes for the final and only got a B! He lecture are him reading the text book to you which he wrote. He is brilliant. But not great a teaching.

Overall a good quality teacher. Homework is not mandatory but if you dont do it you'll fail the exams. Half the class dropped after the first 2 due to not doing the hw. I found that keeping up with the hw all semester got me a fairly easy A. You have to know the material. No exceptions. Books needed are his lab and lecture books. Don't buy the text

I've had a lot of great teachers, but he is by far the best. He understands that chemistry can be difficult, and does his best to make it as simple as possible & explains explains everything very well. If you do the homework, the tests are an easy A. And he gives you all of the problems worked out. He is brilliant, but never makes you feel stupid.

Really nice guy, bad teaching style. Tries to be funny, and he is, but I'm here to learn. Had to teach myself all the chapters because his notebook has all the information in it and he just reads off the powerpoint. Does NOT do problems on the board, which is how I learn best. Otherwise very helpful. If this is your learning style, you'll be fine.

Great guy, and teacher. This guy got his PhD, JUST to teach. He is down to earth and very encouraging. Also likes to crack jokes to keep classes lively. This is NOT an easy class, but he will help you whenever you ask. All his notes are either online, or in the book you can buy. His test problems are very similar to the HW, so DO YOUR HW.

Honestly he's a strange guy and I was a little skeptical at first but if you push past his overall mannerisms he is an extremely knowledgeable man. I thought his class was relatively hard, but he literally gives you exact examples of problems that will be on the test (with numbers switched of course). Overall, best prof I've had.

This man is lazy! I have emailed him several times, and I go to his office to find he is never there. He usually find him in the lab talking with the lab geeks. He claims to be allergic to the markers for the board, and NEVER writes anything. You have one example for everything that goes on in class with his book he wrote. He isn't funny!

He will answer all your questions especially the labs and homework. He associates many topics in class to other subjects and branches of Science which makes a very interesting lecture. Tests are like the homework. Lectures might be dumbed down a bit but just enough to maintain Chemistry concepts and lingo. Straight up weird but coolvand friendly.

Great teacher! Tests are pretty much based off the HW. Only had to buy the book he wrote (which is very clear-cut and to the point) and then the lab book. HW is not mandatory but the only way to get an A is to complete and understand it. Answers any ?'s you have and willing to help you anyway he can. I highly recommend this teacher.

I found a huge disconnect between whats on the homework and quizzes and whats on the exam. Willing to work with you on the material but not willing to give you any extra credit nor allow you any opportunities to help your grades. I am a straight a student and ended this class with a d. Very displeased.

Dr. Churchill is one of those teachers that you remember for a long time after taking the class. He made CHM-132 easy. Uses his own book. Goes over everything and adds real-life uses and interesting facts about the things you learn in class. Always helpful. Always happy to have a conversation about science in general. Do the HW and take notes.

Asides from his random religious rants I find Dr. Churchill to be a very good teacher. He teaches from a book he published, but it's cheap, and very well written. You almost don't have to attend class because it's so clear. He will help you you until you get it, and his tests line up with the practice homework. Just make sure you do it.

I love him. Churchill is the best professor. You need to buy book and lab book that are published by him. Labs are very easy. If you practice the Hw and quiz that he gives you. You WILL PASS with an A grade. Test questions are similar w/ Hw. Take him. He is awesome!

took this in 2013, enjoyed this class very much. Lectures where easy to follow with the notes bought from the bookstore. In order to pass I'd say you need to pay attention to key details when working through problems and start making connections with the labs. you have all the materials! tests are multiple choice lots of second guessing yourself

His lectures are soo long and he talks about things that you don't even need to know for the class. The homework is nothing like the test though he claims otherwise and it's not even graded. The labs are easy you have to do them twice for no reason and than you turn in the report and take the lab quiz that are even worst than the tests the labs

This professor will forever stand out for me. He wrote his textbook, which is now one of my prized possessions. The book is completely "babied" down and is SO clear. He is the most helpful, caring, funny, professor I have ever encountered. He truly loves his job and genuinely cares for his students. Homework is the exact same as his exams. TAKE HIM

Really hard class, but really helpful teacher. Everything is on Blackboard, and your grade is really dependent on how much you study. Explains practical applications for chemicals and processes. Grades the test really fast (in front of you) and helps you with the questions you didn't get right. Wish he taught organic.

Personally I hate chemistry with a passion, but he sets you up for success. The homework matches up with the test exactly except he uses different numbers. The labs are easy and the lab quizzes are not so bad either if you pay attention. Wish he offered extra credit. The lectures are extremely boring, just reads off the powerpoint. He is caring.

This professor should definitely be at a University. Aside from his religious rants he's an amazing, quirky, funny professor and very thorough. The labs are easy but the tests are difficult. I studied for hours every night doing the homework packet and I passed the class with a B. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK. I just wish he taught organic : (

Honestly he's the BEST PROFESSOR EVER! My CHM-131 teacher was awful and didn't prepare us well for the next course so I was really nervous to take this class. Churchill made it not only easy for you to understand with his book and lectures but he's so patient and truly is there for you when you need help. Without him, I would've struggled for sure!

Despite proselytizing our class on the first day, he was a very nice and helpful teacher. He definitely has a passion for teaching and I certainly appreciated his eagerness for us to learn. His lectures are long, a bit boring, and read directly from the book. Labs were the best part. A hard summer course, but the homeworks make it easier to handle.

My CHM 131 teacher was horrible and did not teach at all. Mark Churchill made CHM 132 very easy! His lectures are right from the book and his lab are easy. He explains everything in great detail and is very knowledgeable about the subject. He also has homework that helps you study for the test.

He isn't the BEST at explaining chemistry (he reads a ppt), but he'll help you if you need it. He'll tell you to do the homework 3 times each - seriously, do it 3 times. I wouldn't have passed with an A if I didn't. Don't slack in this class. The labs are easy, but the tests are difficult. Expect to work hard for a good grade, and you'll be okay.

I'm not a huge chemistry fan, but I love and enjoy science. I did well in CHM131 and was expecting to do okay in this class as well. Not only was he rude and offensive during lectures, but he always preached about religion. It was extremely inappropriate and he made it very clear he thought evolution was a joke. It was my worst class at Moraine.

I just love him! He is the best! chemistry 131 was very difficult for me and I didn't understand it! I am so glad I took Dr. Churchill for my CHM 132! You will understand every thing in his class!!! Study the homework and you will get an A for every test because it's the same, only numbers are different! Highly recommend him!!!!!

Good Professor. exams r extremely hard. lab quizzes r easy. (read lecture notes and do the packet questions to prepare u for exams) (read lab notes and study flowchart to prepare you for lab quizzes) he replaces the final exam grade with the lowest test grade. "impossible to cheat"

Wouldn't take again

Such a great guy and he does car bout his students a lot but I would not reccomend taking chem 132 in the summer unless you dont work or have anything else to do. He has great notes and gives you practice but everything is optional and your only grades are 4 exams 2 labs and a final. Absolutely no extra credit or make ups.

Wouldn't take again

Teacher keeps telling you how much time you do not have to study. Time flies and tests are close together before much is explained in class, if ever explained. Need plenty of extra time to study and figure out what is expected for tests. Need to be very math ready or grades suffer.

I would recommend this class to students who teach themselves, but not really to students who need class help. He is willing to help outside of class, but it's his lectures that are long and very boring. Most of your grades are base on test so if you are one of those students who freeze up on test, I would not take him.

One of the best chemistry professors Moraine valley has to offer. I learned a substantial amount in this class. He made chemistry so easy. If you do the homework then I guarantee that you will do excellent on the exams. It's just a matter of putting in the time.

I highly recommend Mr. Churchill if your intending to pursue a career in the medical field. He provides various examples how important chemistry is and discusses different chemicals used for chemical therapy, for example. His lectures are long, however, he throws in a few jokes here and there to awaken the class a bit. Must do the homework to pass!

This professor is kind and religious so if you don't like his religion topics stay away ( I didn't mind) . I liked him as an individual but disliked him as a professor. Wish I would have listened to people who previously took his class. He just reads the pp slides .. our class average was like a 60% and half dropped.

I'm going to be Unbias and just give you how the clas works: You have lecture ( straight out of PP and if you need to visually see the problems worked out then this isn't the class for you) - lab quizzes 30pts each You have one known and then one unknown 4x semester. Exams are 33 questions which are critical thinking. No study guide/EC

the lectures are long and all he does is read right off the slides which are the exact same as the textbook. Asked him for extra help and all he said was to review the notes and I would be fine... didn't happen

One of the best professors. He really know his subject. When I compare him to some professors from some state and private universities, Im surprised that he stays in a community college. However, you must follow him during his lectures, if you dont want to be lost, and youll be well prepared for your higher education in your career.

Really good teacher. His book is his notes and if you know them you'll be fine. He also really cares about his students. Its obviously still going to be a hard class but if you memorize the notes in the book you'll be fine. He's easy to talk to about anything thats confusing

Hes a great professor, go over the ppt slides and do the homework and youll get an A. If you expect a CHM 132 to give you an easy A then dont take the class, this is college you need to study not just the night of the test. People who say he brings up religion need to get over themselves he barely says it once when introducing himself.

Professor churchill is funny, although the class is a bit boring but anyways the presentation lectures are all found in the canvas. His notes are VERY clear. If you read them, solve the hw youll get an A in the class. Hes so helpful. I ask too many questions and hes ready to help. Work hard on your labs and lab quizez they are extremely easy.

Awesome professor. Dr. Churchill really knows his stuff, his notes are so helpful and very structured so you understand every step in learning chemistry. His lectures tend to be very boring cause its straight off the slides but pay attention and follow along with him in your book and youll do great!

Mr. Churchill is honestly super nice and overall a great professor. I would love to take his class again. He grades the exams in front of you. Its nice especially for students who get nervous about their grade after taking their exams. Mr. Churchill is also hilarious. He does a great job at keeping you interested in Chemistry.

Hes very sweet! I dont remember him ever speaking of religion. The only downside to the class is that your grades are based solely on the 4 tests, the final, the lab quizes and the lab reports. So when you do bad on one of them, it really hurts your grade. Other than that, hes a good teacher and a nice person.

Dr. Churchill is absolutely the best Chemistry professor at Moraine Valley. He knows what he's doing and very helpful. If you do the homework, you will be 100% ready for the test. He doesn't grade anything but tests, and lab quizzes. Also, lectures aren't boring at all, he'll always joke around.

Definitely knowledgable about chem. I found it hard to understand his lectures so I had to teach myself the material, but he always answered every question I had. DO THE HOMEWORK 2+ times, the test will be a breeze. lab quizzes are all memorization. Lab reports- easy. Final grade replaces your lowest test score. grades on a 12.5 based-scale.

I took Dr Churchill during an 8 week summer course, so definitely sped up. Labs are super easy, lecture is easy. Super approachable and is super friendly. Make sure to do the homework problems at least 3 times. Practice exams are exactly the same as exams, just numbers changed.

Chemistry is hard in general, & he is very willing to help with anything you're struggling with. As long as you do his homework (not mandatory) & study the notes, the exams will be easy. Lab quizzes (multiple choice) are also easy as long as you memorize/study the lab notes. His lectures are dreadful, but notes are self explanatory. Great teacher!

Church was very nice. The exams were easy if you study notes and do hw. His notes are very easy to follow. Do the problems in notes. Then the hw will be easy. Labs were also easy. I will say, I don't like the lab quizzes, I think that should be taken out.

Don't follow the rest of these reviews. He tells you to study the homework/quizzes multiple times in order to pass the exam. I studied both the homework and quizzes x5 and got a 67% on that exam and I walked into it super confident because I knew exactly what I was doing on all of the problems. The lectures are just reading from the book too

The work is made ten times harder than it needs to be and lab quizzes are impossible to study for until you take the first one and fail. The answer choices for unit exams are misleading and horrible. Lectures are hard to learn from and follow. Grades consist of lab quizzes, labs, and exams. Not a bad person but should consider diff teaching styles.

Love this man- Dr. C. taught me to love chemistry. Yes, he reads off the slides but this is college not high school.. He wants you to ask questions during lecture!!! AND homework is exactly THE SAME as exams- trust me. He even says if you do homework 2x you'll be set. He created the textbook, he knows his stuff, he is SUPER nice and CRAZY smart.

Dr. C does not have mental issues for the lazy bags that are saying his tests don't match homework obviously never took the time to do the homework twice. I felt CHM 1 was harder that his class. He is very soft spoken. Don't wait for someone to hold your hand and STUDY for COLLEGE; If you are not a math person go to his office and he will help :)

Mr. Churchill is an amazing teacher, I am taking his class and trust me the homework matches the exams. He puts up the work so you can check it on canvas and he explains things many times if needed. Labs are fun and lab test are not that bad if you study. He is so kind & does not have mental issues, people are just mad they failed for not trying.

I was supposed to fail, but he was so merciful he let me pass with a D, which I changed to P/F bc of COVID. There aren't enough kind things I can say. He has given me chance after chance to succeed & turn in work. I just couldn't get it right. He is approachable, kind, & caring. He wants you to succeed & is an amazing human being! God Bless him!!!

Professor Churchill was no doubt one of the greatest professors I have taken at MVCC. He is caring for his students, and wants everyone to succeed! He is very well with communication, and wont hesitate to help. Make sure to put in the work, and do all the handouts he provides. You wont regret taking him!

I took his online class and he was very helpful, he responds emails very fast and send a detailed answer to any question you ask. Just study his notes and do the homework problems and you will get an A. The tests are all from the homework problems just different numbers. There was only 4 test and labs.

Dr. Churchill is a great teacher and he is so organized! His chem 2 class really does prepare you for Organic chemistry. The custom textbook that he put together for the class is amazing and I even used it for organic chemistry as well. Hes extremely kind, caring, and approachable! One of my favorite teachers Ive ever had.

I just want to start off by saying I hope this man's pillows are always cold on both sides. most understanding professor i have ever encountered at moraine. i was worried about this class especially since it is a summer course but with an amazing teacher i had nothing to worry about. I took this class in Fall 2019 and he was a great professor you just need to study his homework questions and the test will be very similar, Labs were great too, he will help you to get good grades so don't worry :)

Churchill is very sweet. His class material is pretty easy. However, the lectures are kinda long I speed them up to 1.5 to get through them faster since he does speak slowly. Just watch the lectures and do the optional homework and you'll do great.

Really great professor. All his lectures come from a guided notes book he's written, and everything is laid out perfectly for you. Prepares you well for exams with guides that contain all material on the exam. It takes a lot of work and studying to do well, but that's expected. Really easy going guy, can talk quite a lot though.

He really helped me grow to love chemistry. he can be a bit quiet and monotone, or make some questionable jokes, but he's very intelligent. willing to help where he can, and will go above and beyond to explain concepts you're struggling with. be sure to stay on top of homework assignments and lectures

Professor Churchill is an excellent chemistry professor. He cares a lot about everyone succeeding well in the class. The class is mainly exams, labs, and lab quizzes. The HW assignments are not graded but are necessary if you want to do well on the exams. I recommend redoing the HW at least three times each to do well on the exams.

One of the best professors!! he is very caring and understanding. He would help out during labs and is accessible outside the class. I took him in the summer and got an A. he is retired now but I still think about him all the time, he was so kind-hearted and cared for his students. he was an amazing professor, without him I would've had to retake the class many times knowing how moraines bio and chemistry classes are. I didn't pass this class w/ an A but I passed, he deserves the world and more he is one of my favs.

Professor Churchill is incredibly caring and understanding. The lectures are long but worth it - he explains concepts thoroughly. unstuck study and the textbook are great study tools. Attend class, do the work, and you'll do well.
