What Students Say
“Don't even want to call him a professor he doesn't deserve that title he could care less about helping you because he just wants to fail you like the guy enjoys taking the point off quizzes and exams for the most unnecssary reason I've had hard math teachers but taking two points off for forgetting an equal sign each time can mess up your grade”

First teacher I've ever had who made algebra apply to real life. Very interesting, helpful class (this coming from someone who is not particularly fond of Math).
he is the worst teacher i ever had. He always made people feel dumb and stupid. I don't think he should teach here anymore.
He is the BEST math teacher I've ever had. He won't move on in the lesson unless everyone understands. If you do you your homework you will get a good grade on the tests. He is very Helpful!
Very good and helpful teacher. He was the first teacher that actually made me understand math and made it pretty easy for me. It is not an easy A. You have to do a lot of work and a lot of studying, but it pays off in the end
Great teacher.
Brash at times but good at teaching. Can be tough but you'll really learn the stuff.
Very good teacher. If you do the homework, it's easy to get an A.
rude teacher, that yes im with the other guy, he does make you feel stupid and thats not right. not patient at all.
I hate math and avoid math classes at all costs. That said, Mr. Clark made his class "not suck" and while I still didnt enjoy doing the math, with him teaching I could actually understand it. Good teacher who really seemed to care.
He gives way too much homework. He is willing to give extra help though. He explains too fast and makes you feel stupid if you don't understand.
Really nice. He jokes alot, don't think that he is being harsh. He does require you to do the homework though.
really rude and hard, i dont reccommben it at all
funny guy, lots of work but he goes over everything so you understand it
Rude, too much homework, makes u feel dumb. That's true. I dropped his class.
this guy is rude, he makes people feel stupid when you don't understand what he explains, he is a hard teacher and is very unpatient, I totally do not recommend this guy.
Amusing, cool teacher. I sent him a question via e-mail, misunderstood his response, and then sent a very rude reply. He was nice and patient about it and clarified. Haven't ever witnessed him make a student feel stupid. Seems like a nice guy to me.
Very, very hard teacher. Work hard and ask another teacher questions. And yeah, he gets prickly sometimes...
A LOT of work, but if you do it, you'll understand. Was rude to me once, I told him how he made me feel and that was it. He is a really nice guy and you will learn a lot if you pay attention
rude, moves too fasst, puts you down if you dont get it. basically i learned more from other students then i did from him. oh yea and wayto much homework
He can be a good teacher but he is really sarcastic and makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. His test are real hard, even when studying the questions on the test seem harder then the ones in the book. He can be fun but he does not take teaching seriously. Wears shorts and a tshirt to class
This class is hard. He is one of those professors that can't understand why not everyone (like himself) comes equiped with a math major's mind. I found hime to be rude and unhelpful
I've taken Mark twice now and completely disagree with him making people feel stupid. He bends over backwards to ensure that his students succeed, or at least those who really want to. You don't always have to go to office hours, email works to. He's a great teacher, just be prepared to work.
He had a very hard time accepting any other methods for any given problem. I felt at times that it was his way or not as there were many arguments from students based on methods. And while he was not blatantly rude there seemed an undertone of superiority in his attitude. I would not reccomend him.
Made me understand how Algebra is relevant to "real life." I learned a lot from his class.
very unhelpful. acts like students are inferior and incompitent compared to him. bad teacher!!
Openly disparages students in class when they ask for help to the point where they don't seek his help anymore. Spends an exorbitant amount of time teaching people to define variables in excrutiating detail rather than focusing on the fundamentals. I would advise seeking another professor
Rude man. Doesn't comprehend that not everyone was blessed with his gift for math. Questions your career choice and your compitency for it if your math isn't where it could be. The average grade for our class is 70%. Not exactly stellar for a class that doesn't even transfer, one would think.
I really liked this teacher. Yes he is sarcastic. Deal with it, it's just a joke. Very helpful. About the career thing- if you are taking this class to become a nurse you better think about your career choice. Really. I wouldn't want to have my life in the hands of someone that can't measure.
My math skills are just fine, thank you. He thought they could be better. However, a teacher's job is build up the confidence of his sutdent(not himself at his students expense). Verbal abuse, no matter if it's meant in jest or not, is still abuse and should not be tolerated.
Mark is a talented lecturer. He knows how to explain math while keeping the lesson entertaining. Most of the time, he's patient, but he's cruel when he's frustrated, which makes it difficult to approach him for help. If you do the homework and attend the lectures, you'll do fine. Mark has nice eyes.
I had Mr. Clark for Math50 and Math60. He assigns ALOT of homework which is collected on the exam day. The exams are difficult because he is really anal about the little details (showing all the work, units, writeing COMPLETE sentences). But he explains things clearly and is always willing to help.
I thought Clark's class would be very easy, so i rarely showed up the first half of the semester and barely took any time to study.. boy was that a mistake! He is a stickler about the little things on tests, if one little thing is wrong, you get a BIG 0, even is the answer is right!! study study!!!
I love Mark Clark! For me personally, he was the best math teacher I ever had. he's very clear, and he takes time at the beginning of each class to go over the homework. Show him that you care, and show him that you put the effort, and he will like you and get along with you. Hes awesome.

I will start by saying I didn't start the semester that strong but all I was doing was pass/fail. Bombed on the tests, some of the worst scores I have gotten on any tests I have ever taken. GOod luck trying to get him to give you extra help. My advice, live in the math center
i need structure in math and he is very organized and clear - a true math geek as he put it but it makes him good at what he does - i'v had horrible math teachers - he's not one of them
The best math teacher i know, take him..he knows what he is talking about!!
he assigns a lot of homework. goes a little fast. doen't get back to you that soon on emails. His grading is isn;t hard but not an easy grader. he's sarcastic so be ready to get you feeling hurt. overall he's not a hard teacher but you will have to be in class everyday so you dont miss anything
He sucks!!! I hate him... He failed me and I don't think I deserved it!!! He gives you a lot of homework. On his tests, you have to write complete sentences with your answers, if not, he takes points off!!! Very sarcastic, and ready to hurt your feelings if he gets a chance... Don't take him...
although he gives lots of homework and is picky about wording on the test, he is an excellent teacher who teaches math on a basic level. This is coming from someone who is horrible at math and failed this class before with a different teacher. With M. Clark I got a B.
Best math teacher ever. I really struggle in math but Clark explains things so well. That combined with the math book he wrote made this class way easier to understand than I thought.
Great guy, if you have a question he will help you with it. Just do the basics and you will pass. Do the homework, go to class, and study. He's a little sarcastic but that helps to make the class a little more interesting.

He is hard, I mean really hard. He always wears the same clothes. He's very rude and expects everyone to fully understand the material. I was a math major before taking his class. He makes intermediate Algebra Hard, really hard!!!

gives waaayyyy to much homework, it sucks! Makes u write complete sentences when its a math class, not an english class. other than that he is nice.
Very good teacher who knows his math! He has a good sense of humor which made me enjoy math at 7am in the morning! Do the h/w, study and ask questions. Got a B+ and he also wrote me a really good recommendation for a scholarship (that I got!!)...he even took a group of us (students that went to class) to coffee after the last class. Cool guy.
This teacher actually encourages students to drop his class. He gives so much math homework,I spent 3 hours a day doing his overloaded math problems. There were times when he would BEGIN to teach a section, and he would run out of time, and assign problems from that section ANYWAY. He just rushes along, and makes fun of students. He was the worst!!
This teacher is very sarcastic. He gives a large amount of HW, but he is an amazing teacher. I'm awful in math and after this class i know what im doing in math now.
Mark is a great teacher. The homework load can be very intimidating at first, but if its hard for you to understand math, he will help you. He's open for help during his office hours. At the beginning of class we always go over homework questions, he just doesn't move on and leave you hanging.
Mark does have a lot of sarcasim built up. He gives a lot of homework, but its worth it to learn the material. Tests are easy if you know the material and DO THE HOMEWORK. Writing in complete sentences prepares you for the math road ahead!
Lots of homework but that is how you remember how to do the work at test time. If you can't make every class...forget it...if you get behind you're doomed. Gives everyone a chance to ask questions and doesn't move on until you get it. Eliminates a lot of the unnecesary info that you don't need. Keeps it simple.
Professor Clark is tough but he is a great teacher. He teaches very clearly and makes sure everyone understands. Lots of homework but it helps in the long run. Cool guy, funny jokes. If you need to take Math 60 take it with Clark. He even wrote the book.
Clark is a good teacher, gives a lot of Homework, if you do the work and study the material you will do fine no different from any other class. He is very picky when grading test it must be perfect. IF you are willing to put in the effort then take this guy.
this teacher is awful. wrote his own text book and follows it. his concepts are way off from what is normaly taught. i'm an A student came into this class with full knowledge and am now failing for no reason. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Doesn't give clear guidence in his class. Tests graded on little flaws and not whether you understand the concept or not. Is very particular in his method and not willing to help you understand. Seems to not care if his tudents fail or not. Not helpful at all. Not flexible. Bad teacher all together.
It might be just me, but he works too fast and needs to just chill.
Like Saddam Hussien in South Park says: Relax Fella, you need a rest guy! Yeah he goes too fast, his tests are unreasonably hard, too much homework, what he teaches and what is in the book are two different things, he was nice to me, but if you don't get math, try a different teacher who understands that some people aren't good at it.
Mark is a serious teacher-teaches serious material. He wrote the book. If you are moving ahead in math, take him because he teaches you to THINK, not just punch in numbers in a calc!! Plus, he offers a humorous aspect. Relax, come to class, don't be afraid to ask questions, attention to details and you will do well in this class.
Increadibly awful teacher. I'm warning you- DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! His text book is bad and is half the reason I failed. The other half is because he doesn't explain well, his tests are way too hard, and he grades too strictly- is hung up on details. I have never gotten anything lower than a B and am failing this class horibly!
Had him for Math 50 & 60. Don't take this class if you have to miss any days at all and if you don't have hours & hours to spend doing homework and studying. I like his sense of humor, he will help you if you go to his office but there's no time in class to help people individually. Class moves fast. I feel like I really "learned" the material.

SO good! best teacher i ever had. seriously, even if you don't like math, this guy makes it easy! sometimes the class seemed to move a bit slowly, but that's because he takes so much time to explain the concepts for those who don't get it. GOOD TEACHER! take him!!!
I learned sooo much from this class, mostly because of the MASSIVE amounts of hwk he assigned (2-4 hrs. after every class session). very big on applications, if you hate word problems, this is not the class for you. his tests are easy if you do the hwk. always there to help by email and office hrs., cares about his students
Do you think you can learn math from power point slides that are clicked through way to fast? I put more enthusiasm in taking out the trash then this monotone robot does in teaching math. Seriously the absolute worse math teahcer i have had at palomar. DO NOT take his class
This guy is the best math teacher I've ever had. Math is my worst subject by far and he is the only reasson I passed. Great guy, very helpful, and he really knows how to explain his stuff.
very helpful teacher and easy class if you do the work. tests can be hard if you don't do the homework. Very outgoing and quirky. Goes into detail about how to solve problems and won't leave any student behind. GREAT TEACHER!!!!
I liked him - not easy, but fair. Do homework, attend class and study ... you will do fine. Only downside is the 100 dollar calculater you need to purchase.
horrible teacher, explains the material once and expects everyone to fully understand it. if people ask questions he considers stupid, he will put you down in fron of the whole class. a lot of homework in his class. not a friendly guy at all, do not take this guy unless you wanna be put down and embarassed in front of the whole class.
Great teacher. You have to attend class or you will be lost. Bring your sense of humor with you and he will actually entertain you.
Very helpful!! Made math fun and was a great teacher! I highly recommend taking him! He wrote the book so he really knows his stuff!! Take him you wont regret it!!
AWESOME TEACHER. You must attend class, you must pay attention. He is willing and able to help you with anything in class or during office hours, just ask. And laugh at his jokes.
mark is a great teacher. he does everything he can to try to help you succeed. ask a lot of questions and go to class and do your homework and you'll do well
Mark is a great teacher! If pay attention, listen and try you'll do great. He's a funny math teacher that makes math fun. Make sure you show up for class and do your homework. He gives out plenty of extra credit. He gives out practice tests that are VERY similar to your real tests. If you're not a slacker you'll do great in his class.
Mark is a very good teacher. He explains the information clearly and if you don't get it he'll try to explane it a different way. Was always willing to help you if you put in the effort. I had a B going into the final but since I took it credit/no credit I'm not sure of final grade. The class was hard 4 me, been years since in school. I learned alo
Don't take him for statistics. It's just way too frustrating. He doesn't make things clear enough for students to understand.
Honestly I hate him. A lot of people like him because he makes some jokes and he explains everything on a simple level, but he makes you go through so many useless steps such as his "model" thing and makes you write a sentence for application problems. It just rubs me the wrong way, but if you attend class its an easy A. The problem is attending
Mr. Clark is a great teacher. I have never liked math and now I actually understand and have a greater appreciation for it.
He is a good teacher. I liked him when he would teach. I mean he wasn't a hard-ass or anything like that but there is so much homework every single class. I mean he would assign problems 1-25, but every single problem had and a-f part. If you can't make it all the time don't take this class cause you will get far behind in just one class meeting.
He makes it very easy to understand and fun. You can tell he loves what he does. He is hard in the way that he likes you to show your work and homework
SUPER EASY CLASS!!! the teacher on the other hand...well...not so great. Get's upset easily and holds grudges, and can be kinda frustrating at times, but if you want an A in Math 60 take him, it's easy.
Professor Clark is an awesome Professor. He's funny but a very knowledgeable Math teacher who cares about his students learning each new concept throughout the course. It was great having you as a Math Professor...!
All you gotta do is do your homework & STUDY for tests. You can ask for help and he'll teach you till you understand it. Take him!
Mr. Clark is a great teacher who really cares about his students. If you hate math, take him. He is ALWAYS available for tutoring and goes above and beyond for his students. Thank you for all your support, Mr. Clark. =O)
easy but boring class, just like any other. good teacher explains things clearly always able to help
ok teacher. I took ONLINE so went to campus for the tests. He gets back to you right away for questions. Assigns A LOT of homework. Tests seemed really difficult compared to quizzes & homework. A lot of problems were not on the homework. Took class as CREDIT/NO CREDIT which I strongly recommend! He also recommends this in the orientation.
Awesome teacher! he is funny and relaxed. he really gets to know his students.. well the ones who talk in class.
Really a good guy. Goes beyond what is expected. Will help any student in need. Really smart. Lots of work. He seemed to be a hard grader on tests and quizes. But he tells you what he expects. Do what your supposed to and you will do well!
This was a fun class Mark was a great teacher and really helpfull. Make sure you do the homework and ask questions in class and you'll do good on the test. Take his class!!!
He's a great guy & an awesome teacher. You have to attend class otherwise your kinda lost, but he always goes over hw questions for the first half hour. never took roll, but it's not college level so it'd be stupid to ditch. really really helpful, I'd take him again if I didn't pass.
He is a great person, but his teaching skills were terrible. He hardly counted homework, which I worked very hard on and his tests were so hard (often surprises and very hard grader) Don't take him!! Worst teacher I have ever had at palomar!
Sarcasm is his first language, and drama his second. He is by far one of the worst teachers I've had at Palomar. Take his class ONLY if you're a nerd and think that you're destined to become a nuclear scientist or quantum physicist. He does NOT work with students to help them improve their grade, meaning he's not flexible at all. I hated his class.
Found him to be a much better teacher than I had anticipated. Yes, he is a very hard grader but welcomes students to come to his office hours. There is a lot of homework, but it pays off to do it all. The tests are based off of homework assignments. Overall his class was tough and A LOT of work but this is college.
True math geek..mean that in positive sense. he gets frustrated w/students who are not. moves REALLY fast, had to spend plenty of time w/tutors to keep up. Way, way to much homework! Students tempted to look in the back at the answers because of too much homework.Slower learners or non math aptitude...go somewhere else
I've earned a 4.0 in all 37 units I've completed. I've earned 100% or better on every assignment and quiz in this class, read the section before every class meeting, and did the exam's review sheet. I wasn't prepared for the first exam and earned a C. The homework he assigned didn't prepare me for what he required on the exam. Unsatisfactory
Great teacher, helpful and knows how to keep a class listening to his lectures. Very helpful, if you even look confused he'll make sure not to move on until you understand. Lots of homework! But also a lot of extra credit!
took 50 & 60 first professor I have ever had that if you have a completely confused look on your face he'll ask you what you arent getting sometimes it gets annoying because there is always a few people that never get it but probably the most helpful prof out there. always ready to help highly suggest if math is hard for you he makes it reasonable.
Horrible, miserable man! Took this class because it fit well into my schedule, horrible idea! Re-took it this semester with another professor and received an A in the class! If you can help it, do not take his class... he is so unhelpful and leaves those behind that don't understand the concepts!
This professor is the first I have had in many years who know's the true meaning of learning and the thought process behind it. If you want to change your view on math join this class.
I did a preemptive review after my first test on 9/21. He gave us extra credit to offset the hard exam. Best math professor I've ever had. Knew exactly how to motivate me. Great lectures. Ended up getting an A. Wish I could take more classes with him. Let me bring my first grader to class when she was out of school, even she enjoyed his class.
Saying that he isn't helpful is an out right lie. He would go over the homework at the beginning of class, answer any questions and when I was completely lost help me figure out what I needed to ask. He's liberal with his use of sarcasm, but by no means horrible. Great teacher
If you are looking to be given a grade, go somewhere else. He makes you work for your grade. Like you should.
Best Math Proffesor hands down! seriously, I dont think Ive ever ad a proffesor who is 100% willing to help you out, he has office hours which are helpful as well a friend in the tutoring center who goes over mr.clarks material. Plus this teacher is super funny (: Trust me not a boring class, and you have a great teacher who WANTS to help you.
I thought his class was extremely hard. I know it's not easy concepts but he wasn't helpful AT ALL in explaining homework or even distinguishing between concepts. He told us right away "I'm not reviewing you should already know the material".. I hadn't taken College Algebra for 2 yrs so I was beyond struggling. It was an easy decision to drop..
He's a great professor. I would highly recommend him for Math130. He is ALWAYS available in his office and usually responds to questions through email immediately. Don't forget this is a Calculus class though, so don't expect to add the class and get an easy A. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities and drops your lowest test.
He is a really good teacher. I have always had trouble in math, but he is very clear in his lectures and easy to follow. He is also ALWAYS available in his office and usually responds to emails within 5-10 minutes. His quizzes and tests are very fair if you've done your homework. Keep in mind, Math 130 is not an easy class so dont expect an easy A.
Awesome teacher! He's really helpful especially if you have any questions.
Super funny and crazy guy! Very outgoing and loves class participation. Is willing to help with any troubles you have with his class. Great tutor program for after class in the library with Keith.
Mark is funny, engaging, passionate, empathetic & realistic. He loves his job & wants students to succeed. Plan to attend class, take notes & do homework. This is the formula for an A. He sets up online office hours, gives his time generously & responds to email questions. He even called me one night to help with a problem before a test. Great guy!
Great Professor. Always kept me interested and was very helpful. He is very funny and would recommend him.
I would hands down recommend mad Clark. I look an online class with mark Clark. He always sent out emails asking if we needed help. He made what was expected of us very clear. He does everything possible to provide help for you if you needed. Kind of refreshing after dealing with some teachers at palomar.
Professor Clark is a funny guy. Very sarcastic. His Math 130 class is a difficult course. He is not a difficult teacher, but the material covered is very difficult so keep up with your work, or don't expect to pass...
After 2 failed attempts at Calc I finally tried Professor Clark, and I really wish I had taken his class first. Very helpful, sarcastic/funny, approachable/clear explanations for difficult concepts. Most hw done electronically with bookwork collected for corresponding exams. 3 exams, 1 cumulative final. Not an easy class, but definitely enjoyable.
Decent professor but online system was difficult to work with. You had to watch videos and then do homework for every section and the videos didn't always help you learn the concept. Also assigns a TON of problems and bookwork for tests which was really difficult to keep up on.
Mr. Clark was a very thorough teacher. He really showed the class what he expected & expected quite a lot from the class I would have to say. I took this class during the summer so the materials were condensed into 6 weeks. He is entertaining so you will never be bored. He uses alot of word problems. Alot of online hw & ALOT of Extra Credit 4 exams
Clark is a great professor. There are ups and downs in the class. The 2n1 math consist of math 50 and 60, also 47. Good guy but he can sometimes be a little rude but as long as you do your homework and try in the class he will work with you. Very important, be very detailed on exams like define your variables because he will deduct point.
Such an animated teacher! Clearly knows what he is talking about and great at teaching it. He gives just the right amount of HW and prepares you for all your tests but does give pop-quiz's! Hope I get to take his class again.
Very good professor with regards to understanding and being able to communicate the material to you. He takes respect very seriously, which he rightly deserves. If your an immature student who can't follow simple instructions, such as being quiet/attentive when he's lecturing then I would suggest taking someone else. If not then def. take his class
He puts anyone down if they do not understand any of the material, it is worse if you have to meet with him after a test. The online videos he makes don't explain anything, the online program is easy to use. But there is only one way to pass this class and that is to meet with the math tutor, Keith. Keith explains everything and interprets Clark.
Mark is an interesting teacher he is very sarcastic which can get annoying, however he is a great teacher. He helps you understand difficult problems and is always willing to answer questions. The 2N1 class has a lot of homework, in class projects and quizzes and about 5-6 exams. If you are a procrastinator I wouldn't recommend this class.
Mr. Clark is by far the best math teacher I've ever had! I had him for math 50, and 60. He's very helpful and funny and likes class participation. I HATE math but I loved his class. You have to work for a good grade but it's definitely attainable. Highly recommended!
Clark is a decent teacher if you're willing to work really hard. He can be a jerk and it can be discouraging to ask for help from him, but if you grow a thick skin he can be very helpful. Also, his tutor Keith is a nice man who can be really helpful as well.
Amazing teacher! His class online is difficult and there is a lot of work. However, when I went into see Prof. Clark to talk about the difficulties I was having he explained everything clearly. He makes math fun and interesting. He encourages his students and is an easy going guy. Also he usually has sweet snacks in his comfy office! Great Prof.
Don't take this online class it was really tough. and every week everyday you have an online assignment.
He is a great teacher. He gave me a second chance even though i skipped a lot of days. He helped me to get from F to A. There are not a lot people like that.
Mark Clark is on of the best math professors out there! I took him for Math 130 and I'm not gonna lie, this is a very difficult class but he is the reason why I understood the criteria. He cares about his students and wants the best for all of them, just show him you are willing to work hard. Not an easy A, do all your homework, and apply yourself!
I took professor Clark my first semester of college and even though I didn't finish the class (for personal reasons) he never gave up on me, I missed almost 3 weeks of class at once and he made sure I was caught up on the work, I understood the material and he was there if I needed extra help. He's there for all of his students. Take his class!
You will hate this class and this teacher the first week or so. He seems really mean and tough at first, but I guarantee if you take this class, you will never EVER regret it! It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but for that, I feel so much more prepared for other classes. The tests, HW and participation are tough, but HW is all online.
He is just, not a good teacher. like at all. would not recomend.
Math 130 isn't easy and he doesn't make it easy. But he will always answer any question you have, and will respond to emails at almost any hour of the day, mostly within the hour of you sending it. The sentences seem like the most pointless thing, but it's possibly the most impactful part of the class on your career.
Prof. Clark is AMAZING! He knows this subject very well. He expects you to answer your solutions in full sentences, but he teaches you how to write them. Expect to study if you want a good grade. This class wasn't really hard, there was just a lot to do, which is essential to passing. He's available all the time. Take him if you struggle in math!

Prof. Clark comes off as intimidating at first, but he's persona gradually grows on you, especially when you see just how much he cares about you passing and your future. If i ever had a question on webassign, I would email him and usually get a reply in less than 10 minutes. He is strict about word sentences. Am def. taking again for calculus.
He was nice and always willing to help and worked at the classes pace not his own
He's def a tough teacher with a lot of work in and out of the class I took. We have video notes, handwritten hw (along with what's online), had a 3-hr class Mon-Thurs. It's a good class if you've take math 50 and 60 before in hs or something but is tough on people learning it the first time. We went from 30 something students to 8-9 students total.
Expect a lot of hmw, tests are tough. Professor Clark is funny and he is always trying to help. Tests are tough he will take points off for insignificantly things. He tries to make you thing instead of memorizing formulas. If you really want to learn math take him.
Mark Clark's 2N1 is an easy going teacher is is a hard teacher.. It is SUPER HARD IF MATH IS NOT YOUR MAJOR, but also YOU CAN NEVER FALL BEHIND, even if you work and have other courses or even live far. I was dropped by October because of its pressure especially everything online. Even the class shortened at the end of the semester by 38%
If you enjoy teaching yourself then this is the class to take! At first hes nice and willining to help but eventually it gets to the point where there is loads of homework each week. He didnt give lectures in class regarding the topics, but he was sure to give us quizzes. Overall he is a nice guy but his style of teaching wasnt the best.
My advice: TAKE HIS CLASS. PUT EFFORT INTO LEARNING THE CONCEPTS. DO ALL THE HW, PARTICIPATION CLASS AND STUDY! Don't give up if you don't get it right away. He will help! He does have office hours if you can make it. Prepare to dedicate ALOT of time to do the HW online through WileyPlus. FYI: Has only Ch. Reviews for tests & no practice final.
Mr. Clark is a great math teacher, I took his class as a freshman in highschool and had no trouble. All homework is assigned the first day, and if you can complete the assignments before their due dates you receive extra credit. HIs class isn't boring and he knows how to teach. There are review days that prepare you really well for the tests.
Assigns an INSANE amount of homework that is all due online. He never lectures or teaches the concepts in class. Instead, he makes you do projects worth a ton of points and then you have to go home and watch videos to learn the math. Test grading is subjective- he takes points off with no explanation. Class average was a C/D.
I hate Math. Mr. Clark has a unique style of teaching. I found him to be more than fair IF you listen! He is extremely creative when it comes to teaching Math, I never had a class quite like this! Professor provides many opportunities to succeed. This class will move fast so, stay far ahead. Lots of Homework, you'll be busy for hours. ;)
As with most people, I have always struggled with math. I had been putting off taking a math class, but finally took the plunge. This class took a lot of work and dedication on my part, and fortunately I had Mark Clark, math teacher extraordinaire! He made that magic math light bulb come alive in my head and helped me understand math! He's Amazing
This is the best math teacher, I certainly ever had! Hes hilarious! If you are persistent with home work (I mean daily) you are sure to pass. But if you don't speak up when stuck you wont. Clark makes time to be available and punctual with emails (shows he cares). Keith and him make perfect math team. Fast paced but worth to take class with Clark.
Math is not something you should take online if you can help it. He's a tough grader and sometimes talks to you like you're an idiot if you don't get something. He holds office hours almost everyday so I took advantage of that but still barely passed.
Took this class after 3 years of no math classes. TONS of HW. The HW does help build your understanding of the material though. 3 tests and one cumulative final. Listen carefully and adapt to what he expects you to do on tests. Keep at it and you'll pass. The guy looks, sounds, and acts just like Stu the dentist from the hangover series.
Hardest A I ever earned. you really have to keep up with the homework and correct your work. He invented this SUPER weird grading system that I abhorred almost the whole semester, but I was grateful for it at the end when i had "mastered" enough for an A before finals. In hind sight, it was a good class; tough but good.
Mr. Clark is a great professor. He genuinely cares about each of his students. He almost always has office hours and will do most anything to help you understand a topic you're stuck on. Hes very tough though and if you dont want to succeed, youre not going to in this class. I would deff take him again though!
really heavy on homework and does not lecture in class. Everything is pretty much self taught but helped me really understand concepts. He and the tutor in class seemed to contradict each other and when you don't understand something for a while he gets bitter.
Great/informative lectures. Reading the book helps. Ask all/any questions (even if they seem stupid. I guarantee your not the only one needing the answer). His dedication to you is unlike I've ever seen. There are daily quizzes but relevant to recent material. If you're looking to succeed, this is the class for you, but it does require your effort.
Everything about the way he runs his class truly pushes his students to learn. A lot is self taught but he is almost available ALL the time via email/office hours. He makes the class enjoyable but sometimes him and the tutor contradict each other. He expects you to take advantage of the tools he gives you otherwise he can get upset. Overall great
Mark, & his tutor Keith, are great! LOTS of HW: You watch videos to learn subject & fill out the written notes, then you move on to the problems & fill out the written part of that. No lectures in class, he goes over the HW that was due that morning with students & expains. Tough class. Grading system is unique but overall helpful! Funny guy!
Prof. Clark really knows his stuff and will go out of his way to help you understand the material if you ask. Take advantage of his generous office hours; he basically lives in his office. He is wonderful at translating the legalese of calculus into plain English. Make sure to ask questions in class. This is a teacher that wants you to succeed!
There is no extra credit exams and there are quizzes everyday of the class. Homework is a big key part of this class. Look over lecture for the next class to be prepared and on top of the homework. Get teacher will take time out of his own day to meet with you and help in anyway that he can. My favorite teacher so far at palomar
I struggle in math and was hopeful after seeing many positive reviews about Prof. Clark. Unfortunately I was wrong. Professor Clark is very strict, a very hard grader, and offers almost no extra credit. When you ask him a question he makes you feel incredibly stupid with his tone of voice and explanation. Doesnt seem like he wants students to pass
This teacher is not helpful AT ALL! I would email pictures of my work and he would just respond "I don't know what your doing wrong" instead of explaining steps to get the answer and then also gave me attitude for asking for help on a different assignment. I expected taking math online would be hard but he made it harder by not being more helpful!
Professor Clark is an awesome math teacher. There is a lot of work that goes into this class so just be prepared to spend a lot of time in the math lab!
Mr. Clark is so far my favorite professor here at Palomar. Yes calculus is hard, but use his office hours and he will help you understand the material, plus he keeps chocolate in his office. Do hw before the class starts, he lets you ask questions but a lot of ppl in my class didn't do the hw beforehand so half the class was answering questions.
Okay so Professor Clark is deep down a good guy. But his class and the way he teaches is confusing and difficult. The amount of homework, while it definitely covers everything you go over in class, is stressful and makes it difficult to deeply study the material. This professor cracks jokes, so if you want a class just for laughs he's your guy.
SO MUCH HOMEWORK?! Not only that, the homework that is assigned on Webassign is 10x harder than the lecture examples. It shouldn't take 5 hours to do 1 HW assignment. Some of the q's, I wouldn't even know how to solve. The HW q's are completely flipped, turned upside down. He says you'll be spending 20 hours a week on school work, LIES.
Mark assigns a lot of homework, which is good and bad. You have to consistently stay on top of everything, every day, which can get stressful if you're busy with other things, but IT'S FOR YOUR BETTERMENT. Material learned and handed out is used on all tests. He's great at communicating and always willing to help. I would take him again.
Beware of Professor Clark... I am someone that is not the best at Math.. but not the worst.. Clark is no help when it comes to class.. And he requires you to use a Calculator for everything.. He is not a great professor at all...
Worst Professor I have ever had. Does not care bout his students, only his paycheck. I went to his office multiple times for help and either put a calculator in my face or called me stupid. I have never had a professor that has treated me this bad. Stay away from Mark Clark !
Worst professor I have ever taken. Does not care about his students at all. Took his online course and there was 30 students in the class at the start of the class and its finals week and now there is 6 of us... that shows how much he cares. Stay away from this course unless you want to have a automatic F!
Tough grader! Then when you go to his office for help he does not want to help you. I went to many tutors for help and they all helped me but then when I went to turn in my work he said It was all wrong.
Mr. Clark is a nice guy but its a very stressful class. I took his online class and was very difficult. A lot of homework, The questions from the online homework and the exams where hard and confusing. Take this class if you want an F.
I took his Math 60 Online class. There was a lot of homework and notes each day, and the questions were often confusing. He is a tough grader. On the plus side, prof. clark is usually willing to help when he is needed.
He gives A LOT of homework online and he has you write down a lot of notes he is a decent teacher he teaches good but he has a lot of homework that can take up to 2-3 hours per assignment would not recommend unless you have the time to complete the assignments
He is the worst professor, you get online homework but they dont count for your grades, he lectures on homework you do everyday, you only get graded on test and exams
His teaching style does not work for online at all. He gets frustrated with the class when they don't ask questions but is condescending and rude when people do ask questions. When he grades tests even if you get the correct answer he will mark it wrong if you use a different way other than his. I have never dreaded an online course more.
Professor Clark really know his stuff, class is a bit hard, but if you do all the work and spend time doing the homework you can definably get an A. He is always available for you, if you have questions you can always go to his office hours or email him at any time. he wants you to understand what you are doing, good class and good knowledge
Literally one of the hardest graders I've ever had. SO PICKY to the point where I don't think he really cares what you're getting he just wants to find things to mark off. Comes off condescending when asking questions, just really not my fave. I'D REALLY TRY TO AVOID.
Professor Clark is the strictest grader I have ever had. If i dont write a sentence with my work he would take 2 points off etc. I wouldnt recommend taking any of his classes.
Very mean and condescending. Very though on grading especially on sentences and yet he doesn't teach us the correct way. Too much homework. Overpriced book and assigns almost all the problems, and picks the hardest problems in the chapter. Expect no sleep at all, and still that wouldn't be enough to pass this class.
Mark Clark means well, but his teaching tactics and the way he speaks to his students needs improvement. In the zoom classroom he gets frustrated when students dont participate, but when students do participate he makes comments that come off rude/make the students feel stupid. Tough grader, and will take off points anywhere he can.
Well let me start by saying DONt EVEN CONSIDER taking this professor! 1.) if you learned a way of doing things with problems and he didnt teach it and you dont mention it to him he assume you cheated 2.) if you have something similar to someone else on a test he assumes you cheated. 3.) he had no patience with anyone make you feel really stupid.
Dont even bother taking this class, its a waste of time and money. He makes you pay for an online homework assignment and have fun doing that for more than 5 plus hours EVERYDAY. My mental health went downhill with this professor. I couldnt sleep or eat, he was very rude and the way he talked during his lectures to students was rude.
Don't even want to call him a professor he doesn't deserve that title he could care less about helping you because he just wants to fail you like the guy enjoys taking the point off quizzes and exams for the most unnecssary reason I've had hard math teachers but taking two points off for forgetting an equal sign each time can mess up your grade
By Far the worst teacher I have ever taken. The most rude and obnoxious person you will ever meet. He could care less about his students and more about taking points off their assignments. Never ask him for help or any questions because he will make a joke out of you and embarrass you in front of the class.
Let me tell you one thing,THIS PROFESSOR IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!! He does not care about anyone and talks so demeaningly to all his students. The amount of time, effort, and willingness I gave to this class is something I wish I could take back. Believe me and take this piece of advice FIND ANOTHER TEACHER BECAUSE THIS WILL KILL YOUR MENTAL HEALTH!
Do NOT I repeat Do NOT ignore the comments made. Also, if you think you're gonna breeze on by in the summer with his class I wouldn't be so arrogant. This guys grading technique is strident and will knock off points faster than the govt can knock money off your check for taxes. Seriously, I easily spent hours a day after work doing homework. WARNED
I thought I was doing well in this class only to find out all mistakes you make result to 0. Very rude. I was literally told BY HIM to drop out of class and give up when I could barely earn points, when I think he is also at fault for not showing you how. Says he cares but thats not true, way too much work, forget having a life if you take this
Incredibly picky and sort of a perfectionist when it comes to grading.
Mark Clark is by far the worst math professor I've ever had. His grading technique is awful and he will mark points off for the dumbest reasons. If you're thinking of taking a math class with this professor please read all of the reviews and don't say I didn't warn you. If you want to pass the class, this is not the professor for you.
Took math 101 but it's not listed here. Homework is required, don't let him fool you. I missed one day and it ruined the rest of my time there. Avoid him at all costs if you can. The grading system he uses is complicated too and he is picky with it. Lots and lots of homework. One moment you think you're doing ok in the class but it changes quickly.
Listen to me. FIGURE OUT HIS GRADING SYSTEM and it will be the reason you pass. He requires you to do each type of problem correct only 3 times in order to get credit, right? So keep track of what you have, study what you don't have. You have so many chances and only need to get it correct 3 times. He will give you additional opportunities. Ask.
I had another professor the prior semester with the same grading system so I was used to it. I like that he did record the lectures with Zoom so if you couldn't come to class you could hop on Zoom and still participate. Or if you missed class you could watch the recorded lecture later.
One thing I appreciated was that Prof Clark took his time before/after class to explain material I didn't understand until I did. I am happy I've passed the class, seems like almost a half dropped or failed. Extremely tough. Make sure to do the homework and form study groups, otherwise, you're out for sure
He really cares about his students and he will make himself available when you need him after class. Understand the grade system is important and take advantage of the mastery opportunity in class. He is a tough grader, so make sure you follow his instruction and understand his expectations.
He is an extremely tough grader but you get opportunities every day to make up for lost points. It was HARD but it helped me retain the material. He can seem harsh, but I believe it is just tough love. He truly cares about us succeeding and if you keep up with the work, you will be fine. I don't think I would've passed with any other professor.
The professor is one of the very few math teachers who's easy to understand and has almost no accent, unfortunately that's about the only plus side to him. His tests barely reflect what's done in class or on the homework the instructions on the test do not reflect or remotely call for the student to perform the necessary tasks to score well.
Although this professor was great at providing extra help for students that needed it, he was honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. His grading system is so overcomplicated and confusing, I should have gone with my instincts and not have enrolled in his class at all! He is so picky on how he wants problems to be solved.
Mr. Clark lowkey and jerk but its funny and i still really liked his class, the math was hard but he did a job at getting us in groups to do problems and if u actually do the homework, you will get a good grade, weird grader and has a weird system but it try's to give you lots of chances to pass
