Wow! I thought this was going to be another boring class - well I was wrong. It was one of the best classes ever taken and Mark is so into what he does!
This course was one of the best I've ever taken. MC was enthusiastic, easy to talk to, and knows world architecture inside and out. I've recommended this course to many friends.
Mark is awesome! His teaching method is very clear and he is always available for help if you need it. I've recommended both classes to friends even if they didn't need either class. Architecture of the World was a lot of fun (it's not every class you hear the professor say the Pope was pissed!). I've learned so much from this man. He's fantastic!
Mark is truly an amazing professor. I am in the Architecture program & was worried about how I would survive. Mark is always there 4 Q&A and extremely knowledgeable about his field. His real life stories help you understand the material which is good for classes like Contracts & Building Materials. You learn alot from him and don't realize it!

hes the coolest teacher i got!
He's a sweetheart. He'll go out of his way to help you, so use it to the best, but don't abuse it.
Over all fun guy to be around. Never a dull moment in his class thats for sure! GO MARK !
Mark is the man. Awesome teacher. Take history even if your not an architecture major.
He's not lying when he says this is the best class you will take. It really is. If you dig stuff like history/discovery channel this class is for you. Take this course. Period.
He is so wicked cool! This is the best class I have ever taken! Take History of World Architecture even if you aren't going into this major!
Your the best!
This professor may be the most pompous instructor in the world. His ego is as big as the skyscrapers in his slide shows. Interesting class overall if you can overlook his personality.
Consider this class as you sign up - most interest keeping course I ever took. Prof Mark has such excitable course delivery! He uses a lot of architecture specific words so lots of attention required.
Overall-I loved it! But---he goes pretty fast and if you miss a class you can fall way behind quickly, he covers sooo much stuff. He's very passionate about what he teaches-all classes-and seems to enjoy sharing that with students. You can be late but-- you better have your cell off (it really seems to bother him)
This is essentially a history class, and it is by far the best history class I've ever had. There is no reason to get less than a 'B.' He promptly returns calls, emails. Generous with his time. Well traveled, he has visited most of the places in his lectures. Tells fascinating stories that you will not forget. A true Jeffersonian Renaissance man!
Mark your class is awesome best lecture class i have ever taken so far
1# Teacher at Three Rivers. Runs a great program
Mark is by far one of the best professors i've ever had. Although many of the subjects he teaches aren't the most interesting, he makes it bearable. I would reccomend taking any of his classes. His design classes are great, but don't fall behind because it's hard to catch up!
He was a great teacher and made this class very intersting.
I have really enjoyed having this Professor. He totally loves what he does and that really comes through in his lectures. Very sweet and helpful.More than happy to make time to help you. Not too hard on the eyes either...
Nice guy! Does not follow texbooks... :/
Just an awesome teacher all the way around! He was a riot as well!
Really great professor
I WOULD TAKE ANY OTHER CLASS HE TEACHES EVEN IF I DIDNT NEED IT, HE MAKES ALL HIS LECTURES VERY INTERESTING WITH HIS PERSONAL STORIES TRAVELING... AND HE'S VERY HOTTTT.. IM IN LOVE :) LOL
I love architecture, especially just admiring it so this class was perfect for me plus I actually learned a lot in the process:)*BONUS* Professor Comeau is not bad on the eyes! lol
The most interesting class ever taken. Mark is a very passionate teacher, he knows his stuff. He has traveled quite a bit and knows most of the places that he teaches personally. He is a very well rounded guy and why not easy on the eyes as well.
By far the best professor at Three Rivers!
A previous rating was so far off from this professor's character - he is professional, respectful, has traveled the world and is anything BUT prejudice and is happily engaged. Hundreds of my fellow students will agree!
He makes class extremely interesting and fun...best class ive ever had best teacher ive had at three rivers would love to take this class again and have him as a teacher will help with anything.
really knowledgeable and fun, passionate, awesome experience
Best teacher i ever had, extremely fun and passionate. Quizzes aren't too hard. Attendance is not entirely mandatory but he takes notice when you're not there (might affect your grade) No text book for class and only 4 tests to take. Would definitely take another class with him.
One of my favorite teachers! He is so interesting and all you have to do is pay attention and study the guide that he gives you.
Best teacher at Three Rivers and best class on campus, no joke
The best professor ever! Very interesting class. Makes you see the world from a whole perspective. He has lots of stories to tell. Very passionate about architecture.
Best Teacher/Professsor I've ever had
good class on intro to architecture
I wasn't sure what to expect from this course but was pleasantly surprised. Comeau's lectures wove together history so well and he brought them to life with his personal travel stories, many of them funny. His facts are first hand, most of the throusands of pictures he took and he wrote the textbook! I'm inspired to travel!
I took his Architecture of the world class, I learned more in that class than in all of my other classes put together. I want to take more of his classes, just to learn more. Unfortunately, they aren't in my line of study.
Took the class for a arts elective. Found his presentations to be inspiring and very interesting. Easy tests, just study a little bit and you'll be fine.
He knows what he's talking about. Great Architect , Great Professor. Nice and funny guy in general.
My favorite teacher in college yet! Even if you have no interest in architecture you learn so much in his arch of the world class. Easy just show up and study a little for the exams his tests are very straight forward.
Mark is extremely nice and helpful. I was not too interested in the class because I'm a Marketing major, but he definitely made the class interesting.
Loved this class. It was wildly interesting. I absolutely loved the information. I wish there was a followup 103 course that continued into the current time. It was fantastic. I suggest you take it. Just listen carefully, because he hints at test questions. If he goes over it in class, it is fair game for the exam.
Greatest class ever!
Professor Comeau is the best!!! I'm not joking.. He responds to emails very quickly, cares for his students, his class is an inspiration to travel and to succeed in life. I highly recommend his class. You wont be disappointed.
Professor Comeau should teach every subject at Three Rivers!!!! You will learn a lot from his class. I highly, highly recommend his ARC101
Mark is by far my favorite professor & it was a privilege to have the opportunity to sit in on his lectures. I learned more history of the world in this class than four years of history in high school. I always left the lecture feeling inspired, the knowledge and stories that Mark provides for the class make his students want to show up to listen.
Professor Comeau is like a godsend to Three Rivers. The ArchWorld class elective is a great way to get an easy "A" to help offset the sometimes debilitating, grueling effects of major-specific courses. You may want to bring coffee with you to the lectures, most of which are done with the lights off. The class is simultaneously amazing and relaxing.
I love this guy. Prof. Comeau is one of the best professors at TRCC! He cares about his students. Classes are very interesting! Minimal homework and the tests are straight out of the text book! I honestly learned more about history and architecture after 6 weeks of taking his class than 4 years in highschool!
I currently have Professor Comeau for Architecture, he is amazing! I look forward to going to his classes, and he has the best stories. I highly recommend him!
ONLY TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE TRULY INTERESTED IN HEARING ABOUT OLD ANCIENT BUILDINGS FROM 500 YEARS AGO! I made a HUGE mistake in taking this class, the quizzes and tests are HARD. Only those who have passed were students INTERESTED in architecture or somehow super smart. The Renaissance test was one of the most hardest and confusing quizzes.....
One of the most boring classes to take at Three Rivers... If you want to listen to some weird Professor chatter about his personal life and about his job, then this is the class for you. The lights are always turned off so most of the students rest instead of taking notes.
ARCH 102 is an amazing class! It truly is the history of the world and Mark's story telling style makes it interesting and easy to digest. He always calls it 20 pounds in a 10 pound bag and he's right but his book ties everything together. For students looking for an elective and if you're really in it to learn, this course is highly recommended
More classes and professors should adopt Professor Comeau's personable style. First, he's a person but with a great wealth of knowledge and experiences and they all come to life and come together in the way he delivers history!
Mark is a truly great teacher. I was in his night class and halfway through had to switch classes. He had no problems at all and the classes ran so smoothly together that I missed nothing! While the tests can be a little difficult, if you're present in class, you'll do great. Mark is passionate about what he teaches, his personal stories add a lot!
This guy is great. He loves to talk, which is awesome because his passion about what he teaches is infectious. I'm not an architect major, but his passion leaves me wishing I was! To whoever said he was boring and weird, he talks a lot about why he teaches and he teaches what he does and he does what he loves. I hope you can one day be so lucky.
this dude is such an amazing guy. i don't see why people smile in his face but then talk so negatively about him behind his back. i wish he could hear the bad stuff people say about him after class. i kind of feel sorry for the dude sometimes. i happen to like his energetic personality.
I just finished the course and never write these but I'm responding to the "dude" below of 12/08. He IS an amazing prof and I have a theory of the comments you heard. The course is probably Three Rivers most popular elective so the caliber of students drops of and they talk. I was in the night class, generally an older crowd & we got his back!
World Architecture was an awesome class imo. I would definitely take it again if I could. Prof Comeau is very direct with what is expected of you and he makes the lectures very entertaining. As long as you show up and pay attention this class is by far the easiest A you'll get.
This class is a taker, why else would 150 students each semester take it. Mark has a nice style, is open to comments, has a sense of humor and provides contrasting views to all of the styles & cultures covered.
I had like 50% attendance and still got an A. Your grade is an average of 5 online quizzes and all of the answers are either online or in the textbook. Although i recommend you actually attend his class because he makes it really interesting. He makes you wanna travel the world
If your not in class then you are missing out on hearing the lectures, which the tests are based on. It's not always about reading the textbook and reviewing your notes, it's about also coming to class and actually LISTENING to the presentation. Attendance makes a huge DIFFERENCE in this class if you want at least an A. I made that mistake...
By far the best Professor I've ever had! Hes extremely nice and his lectures are exciting! He keeps you entertained the whole time so much so that you dont want to leave. I learned more from him than any other teacher in my whole life. I wish I needed to take more classes with him! I'm definaitely going to miss him!
Looking for a great class? This is it! He is a charismatic subject matter expert that keeps your attention with entertaining first-hand stories which relate to the topic. Simply show up for story time, every time... I mean class! Pay attention though, some questions are not in the book but only covered in the lecture. Enjoy!
In "Graphics" Mark is looking for improvement, not technical ability - so you can't fake it, but you will get a lot out of this class. He is an amazing teacher, and it's a privilege to watch him draw and illustrate
Mark Comeau is the best professor I've encountered at Three Rivers, and Arc World is his wheelhouse. He literally wrote the book, and this class is him waxing poetic about the world's great architecture, and sharing his vast experiential knowledge. His anecdotes are amazing. You will be inspired
fantastic professor and great guy. took K102 WorldArc(A) and K214 SustainableDesign(B+ with him and both classes were amazing. he presents all the information clearly thru lecture which is more like story time. class was both enjoyable and educational. would highly recommend.
This class and this professor made me want to go to class. He clearly had a true love for architecture and world history. The book used is a book he specifically wrote for the class that is now used throughout the country. He is truly brilliant and wants to share his love of the subject. He even leads student abroad trips to see the places.
This class is great! He has 6 test(that's it!), but if you get 90 on the first 4 or better you can lock in your grade and not take the other 2. He doesn't take attendance, but some of the questions on his test are things he said and you wont find them in the book. He is by far not boring by any sense of the word! He has a book and you'll need it!
The only assignments the whole semester are 6 take at home online exams. Great Professor and very easy going.
Honestly the best professor & advisor I've ever had. He's intelligent, understanding and is passionate about what he's talking about, and it's contagious. If you miss a class or if you're having trouble, I'd encourage you to talk to him and see if there's anything you can do. Very human.
Great professor!
Professor comeau is one of my favorite professors at TRCC. He was always accessible after class and was very nice about quizzes. If you get As on the 4 tests, you don't have to take the final exam and you get an A for the semester.
By far the best class I have taken at Three Rivers. He is passionate about what he teaches and knows his stuff. What I enjoyed the most was his personal stories. I recommend to anyone and everyone even if you don't need the class. It truly was inspiring and life changing. A breath of fresh air.
he is really passionate with his work
This is by far one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken thus far at TRCC. You learn so much, and it's packed with funny stories and quirky facts. Taking notes is a MUST! The entire class is lecture/PowerPoint based (but not in the least bit boring). If you are a good note taker, you will get an easy A. I highly recommend this class!
I was getting depressed I was not doing well in school, I took Marks class and I loved it. I know now I can make it thru school because he encouraged me to keep pushing forward! The class was great and yes I got a A... if I could take him again I would!
Very nice guy makes going to a lecture not as bad. Very laid back and just what you want in a professor. Class was very hard though.
Great professor and person
Amazing professor. Loved his lectures, I'm not even a big architecture person and he made me love the material. I would highly recommend taking him!
Great teacher, incredibly passionate and knowledgeable on many topics. Lectures are entertaining, its like you travel the world with him, great stories and enjoyed learning the topic. Highly recommend!
This was my first class I took when I went back to school. It was recommended by the advisor I sat down with. I loved this class. The material is great and it inspired me to want to see the world. I would take it again if I could!!
This class was amazing, professor really made me want to travel the world. Great elective class, The students who are pursuing architecture are lucky to have this guy to guide /teach them.
Mr. Cameu is literally the best teacher at TRCC! Exceptionally smart and has a sense of humor. I would take this class over in a heartbeat because I actually learned so much about the world and architecture! I want to go to Rome and Egypt now because of this man. Tests are online and fair as long as you have the book. Take this class!!!!!!!
Not going to lie, I was asking myself why my adviser put me in this class... but I'm so glad he did!! this class is my last and favorite class of the day. He makes the lectures fun and the time passes by fast. you learn a lot about this man, his character and his stories. Go to class bc if you don't, you will be missing important info for the test
Very good professor , definitely loves his job and is extremely passionate about teaching. Created his own textbook so everything you need is literally there. Class is extremely interesting, a lot of information but makes it worth going to class.
Amazing professor. I hated art history and was dreading this class, but his lectures are so amazing he made what could very easily be a boring class into a fascinating one. He often integrated personal stories into the lectures to make them more interesting. Textbook is 100% necessary for doing well in the open-bookexams, but its a great textbook.
Mark's class was very enjoyable to my surprise, online lectures were pre-recorded & power point slides had all the material you need, I never bought the textbook. Tests & Quizzes were easy if you used the notes & study guides he provided. Papers were mainly 1-3pg summaries comparing different parts of the world. Do the work & it's an easy A.
Show up for the lectures, take some notes and he will tell you if what he is saying is on the exam. The book isn't used but is helpful because all of the test answers are within it. There 5 Exams total, but if you get over a 90 on the first 4 exams you don't have to take the Final. I didn't have to take the Final, so not sure how hard it is.
Loved Professor Comeau, but he is very lecture heavy. You pretty much just sit through him talking about the textbook. The only thing he graded is one two page essay and five exams including the final. Only offers one extra credit essay. Overall really good class to take.
Mark made the class really fun. He wrote the textbook so all the answers to the test were right there to access and were all open book. Tests were multiple choice with some fill-in-the-blanks. He tied the learning into his own travels which made it personable. There was one paper and an opportunity for extra credit with a second one.
I thoroughly enjoyed his "Architecture of the World" course during my fall semester. His teachings and experience has opened my eyes to so many things outside of "America." The "homework" was minimal, but the notes were heavy. Exams were made easy to take and highly accessible. Great guy!
Professor Comeau is a very interesting and worldly person. The tests were very clear and if you go to class you're sure to do well on them. I highly recommend this class and this professor.
he is a great person in general, i hated the thought originally about a history and art class in one but his lectures were amazing, he is very great and stops when you need for questions. it is a very fast paced class but overall it was an amazing class.
He is very good at breaking down the subject matter. His class was 100% a lecture and the room was very dark, sometimes it was hard to stay engaged. He is a really nice guy though and will help you if you have questions.
Great Teacher overall, very helpful when a student is left behind or lost.
1. very understanding an caring 2. clear grading 3. clear assignments 4. puts family first and understands thinks come up 5. teaches about the world and different cultures
Great professor who makes the material engaging. Used his own textbook, which was super helpful. The class was challenging but manageable with the right study tools like unstuck study. Definitely worth taking!
Really loved having Mark as a professor. Had him for two classes, no homework for either one, just tests, as expected. Great stories about the subject, and always cheerful. Always ready to help you, even if it doesn't pertain to the class itself. Tests are all open book which is amazing. You essentially just have to show up. Attendance taken once.
Professor Comeau is definitely one of the best professors at TRCC! Although he does go into tangents often in lectures, his tests were fairly simple as they were open internet. He did not assign homework and the only other assignment was a short reflection. Also, he does a yearly class trip to different countries on spring break (cost not covered)!
Very easy class. 6 exams & 1 paper, with optional extra credit.
