This man is, hands down, the worst instructor I've had so far. He takes pride in the fact that students are having a hard time in class, it's actually a compliment! He is full of Bio knowledge but expects you to know just as much as he does, and he'll test ya too.
Very hard exams. Not very freindly. Makes you feel dumb when you ask him questions.
Mark cares about his students and even gave an open book test this semester. Unfortunately, most students still failed because they didn't think to turn the page over....the exam was two sided. I think a majority of students are looking for a free ride.....just not going to happen. Study!
i have really enjoyed this class. if you pay attention and read the manual you will do fine. if you have any questions he is very helpfull and willing to help. makes you try to figure it out on your own. a must take.
Great teacher! anatomy is a hard class, but he makes it fun. He also really does listen if you need help, even if it's not directly related to the class.
He puts his students down in class, he is not about the student's
He explains everything very well and gives us every opertunity to do well. His test may be hard but this isn't high school anymore. I truly enjoy his class and I would recommend him to anybody. He's got a great sense of humor as well.
he was a jerk
Great teacher! Exams and homework can be a little rough, but A&P isn't an easy subject.
Danley is a good teacher. He finds new and inventive ways to teach his class. He uses a lot of audiovisual presentations to get his point across. But Oh my goodness his tests, quizzes and homeworks are very hard. I'm an A-B student and am struggling to keep a B. I would only reccomend him for people who like a challenge.
Great teach, easy to undertsand notes, very helpful and CUTE!
School is meant to be challenging. He is the guide in your journey of medicine. He is very creative in the tactics used to engrain his knowledge onto your brain. He is fair but EXTREMELY difficult on his homeworks and tests! However, when you are through, you will always remember why you took his class. HE STICKS WITH YOU no matter where you go!
Hard but definitely worth the work
I had my doubts a few years ago about Mark, but found out that he is honest, fair, cute, and very knowledgable on the subject matter...If you take him for A&P II, pay close attention to reproductive anatomy...he easily becomes flustered...especially with the female anatomy...! Use this information girls, to your advantage, you will get a chuckle!
I was an A student up until the Final Exam which was ridiculously hard. By far that was the hardest test I've ever taken. Didn't expect questions on reproductive and endocrine to be so difficult. That final test makes you or it breaks you, beware! Read your book like crazy! Ton of homework and quiz'! Took 6 credits total this Fall, felt like 12.
He's interesting to listen to. Lectures are NOT boring from him. Tough yes, but he tells you what he expects from you. Do your reading, study, pay attention, ask questions. His class is challenging, not hard. He's got a GREAT sense of humor. Had to drop class due to family emergency but am actually re-enrolling in his class because he's great.
I never thought I would get out of this class alive. It's hard. But Mark made it fun and made it passable. He's really helpful, the quizzes are online and if you fail the final he takes your quiz scores and uses the average instead.
I'm only in his lab, but it's not really a lab, it seems to mostly be another lecture class. He's an interesting guy, tries real hard to be funny and enjoyable. He can be kind of cold to people that make mistakes or have a dumb question, but overall I'd say he's a decent prof. I would recommend him.
Video tapes each student on the first day of class as you introduce yourself. Bizarre! Who knows where that will end up? This is an anatomy lab not a broadcasting class. He seem a tad too interested in the personal life of his students. He and fellow prof Susan Johnson often gossip about students in the teachers lounge...completely unprofessional.
Why is this guy even considered a teacher? all he does is give the class a handout and then leaves the room to go to his office across the hall and screw around. this class is "web enahanced" which basically means the teacher gets to complain about the plethora of emails he gets from students. DON'T BOTHER! discriminates against disabled as well!!
This man is useless, never returns emails, belittles students for asking questions and spends lab surfing the internet(while a lack of time is the given reason for not responding). Avoid taking him if possible. Take Tom Estenson instead if you can.
A hard class by all means but we are in college not in high school. He is very nice, quizzes and tests are not easy. He is very helpful even if you take the class online.
Professor Danley isn't really tolerant of students. He expects students to be at the highest level possible. I understand this being that most people taking the class are going for medical professions. Tests are HARD! Be prepared to teach yourself and have the time to study. I wouldn't take him again.
Had him last summer and will try to take him again for pathophysiology class in the fall. He expects students to work, not complain.
Not helpful at all. And while yes, this is a college class - must professors are too busy to help because they are immersed in teaching/research. Not Danley, he is immersed in his lap top or chatting in the teacher's lounge...and yet he has no time to answer one email? Then try not having an online component! Sorry excuse for a teacher.
I actually avoided taking him again for a & p even though his class offered an ideal time for me. Not the worst teacher as far as the material, but I've seen him put down students for asking questions. He didn't acknowlege HW until a week before finals that went back to the fourth week of lab!
He's lazy,we were responsible for printing any materials we may need to study for the class. He was irritable, unreasonable and would send e-mail to entire class berating us for bugging him on weekends with posting grades, questions, etc.would never over turn a wrong answer even when you had proof that you were right. HE IS NOOO TEACHER!
Seriously the worst teacher i have had. He puts down students when they ask questions. I'm almost scared to go ask him a question. His tests are VERY HARD. He makes them up himself. NO CURVING, NO EXTRA CREDIT. Overall just do not take him. He expects YOU to have the knowledge that HE as of A&P.
He tries to make the lab class a lecture class. Will talk the whole 3 hours if he could. He explains stuff but everyone is still confused. 35 people at the beginning of the semester, 8 at the end... If that says anything...
I thought Mr. Danley was just fine as a teacher. He was nice enough. He joked just enough and taught the Lab as well as a lab class could be taught. It's Lab, you have to do the work! I would recommend his class.
Mark is hard but fair. I have never had problems when asking questions like some of the others, he is very knowlegable and helpful. I had him a&p I lab and a&pII lecture, I also plan to take him for patho. He is not the one to take if you don't want to work, he does give homework!
Mark likes to act tough but he's not. He is very helpful during class and office hours. He does test every week but it helps you understand the info. I enjoyed Mark for Bio.
Mark is very good instructo, I had him for Bio 1492 and took him again for A&PII he is very clear on info and if you have any questions he always have a good and anderstandable answer. He works with Blackboard a lot and he gives quizez and homework that could replace one tet score, I got an A and all my friends from that class got good grade!! :D
Great Instructor, very clear and makes the hard things look easy, and you remember it, if you have the chance to take him, you will have a great class, Thanks Mark.
Had for A&P I. He is a really good instructor but he does expect a lot from his students. Those who struggled in his class obviously weren't trying and blamed it on him. The class is challenging and requires a lot of study time. Mark is a great guy!
I would NOT take another class w/ him. He has a sarcastic "sense of humor" that was hard for me to stomach. He humiliated people who asked questions or answered questions incorrectly. Thought his "psychodramas" were time wasters and had a hard time getting email responses.
Danley's a lousy excuse of a teacher: disorganized, snarky, ALWAYS preoccupied w/ his laptop, downright rude. He constantly made snide comments in class, which limited my respect for him. If you're looking for a teacher that will actually TEACH, Danley isn't that guy.
I don't know what people are talking about. Mark was always considerate and willing to answer students' questions. He definately expects alot from his students and this class requires alot of time. Attendance mandatory and book was used all the time.
Hard but you learn your stuff. He demands a high level of excellence from his students. Strict with attendance and strict with grading. Can be a bit arrogant at times but is generally a nice guy who is willing to help you succeed.
Danley is a good teacher, his power points go right along with the book, however he gives a ton of homework and quizzes.. Mastering A and P online is a must have if you buy a used book. He gives 3 online exams and the final is cumulative. The exams are quite difficult (even open book.
He is a wonderful Instructor, good sense of humour, not rude at all. He gives homework that counts towards your grade. He gives alot of review questions for his exams which I find very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dont expect any pass in this class. He is not very helpful with providing hints that will help you learn anything in his class. You have to work very hard and memorization is key. If you don't know how to spell you will fail. Also, tests are never multi choice. Before class you get a blank page with numbers on it. Good luck.
for a&p 1 and 2 ive had him. hes a good teacher that will give you acronyms to remember. anatomy is all memory so if you cant memorize words well then it will be a hard time in that class. you just have to improvise.
Online class. It took a couple of weeks to figure everything out, but it's possible to get an A if you read the chapters and do the work on mastering a&p.
I really enjoyed his class. It was difficult but you could ask questions at anytime and not feel as though you were disturbing him. Quizzes every week and homework on Mastering A&P but test were straight forward. I am taking him for A & P II.. I would recommend him.
Great guy but he doesn't clarify what to study. You are given a terms list that doesn't mean anything he doesn't follow it. Memorize the whole book because he doesn't know how to teach a lab class the way it should be its taught as a lecture class so have fun.
This is my second time taking Danley. I took him for AP 1 and 2. I think he is a great teacher. One of the best AP teachers at CNM. This is a hard class and you have to study and the less class you miss the better. You can feel comfortable asking him questions and he is there to answer them and explain if you don't get it. I def recommend him.
Without question, the BEST online professor I've ever had. He provided online lectures that were crystal clear and very organized. He also was very quick to respond to any email. Highly recommend him.
Mark is an AWESOME prof. Patho is a very intense class. It required time and commitment far beyond what I have ever previously put into any course. That said every single hour of studying paid off! I aced the class. Work your tail off. Be familiar with case studies and deducing them and you will be ahead of the curve!
Mark is cheerful, his jokes are corny, his lectures are very, very detailed. He really knows his stuff. I'd take him again.
Mark is amazing. He is intense and passionate about patho which only serves to drive your interest. He forces you to work in a group which we all detested at first-- what eventually happens is you work together and learn more from this strategy. I am waiting several semesters to take patho 2 because I only want to take it with him. Love him!
I'm in his class hoping to drop, terrible teacher, I did not want an online class but he puts all his tests online on different sites, its so confusing. When I got locked out of Blackboard I explained to him what was going on and he denied changing the deadline, I got a zero instead of having the chance to take a test I had studied all week for
no help at all, take this class from anyone else if you possibly can
Better to take this online or from anyone else, you only have 2 days during the week to do assignments and if you have a full schedule forget it John cannot be bothered if a site crashes or something comes up you simply fail
While the class itself was a difficult subject for me, Professor Danley made it an engaging and easy to follow course.
Good Instructor I recommend him to everyone
The best think I like about Mark is that he is always willing to answer questions. ALWAYS! There is a lot of work in this class, but if you study hard and complete the H.W. assignments you can get an A in this class. You need to know everything in the chapters because he doesn't give out a study guide. If you want to learn A&P, learn from Danley.
Great teacher! ALWAYS willing to answer any questions. If you study hard and do all of the HW assignments you can get an A in this class. There are a lot of assignments, but it reinforces the material which is always helpful. Know the entire chapter because he doesn't give you a study guide. This was my least favorite thing about the class.
I took this class and sadly didn't look online. His name is "Mark" and never call him John or he will turn into the hulk. If you ask him question he treats you like an idiot (not exaggerating). His tests are so hard! Be prepared to do HARD math (no calculator) His class was harder then the lecture. DON'T DO IT! Find another professor!
Difficult at best, likes himself too much a hard nose old school professor
Mark is so awesome. Yes there was a lot of online assignments but they were easy and simple. His lectures are organized, understandable, fun, and very helpful. He is there to help you if you are stuck or having any trouble understanding something. Show up for class, do the work, and do the exams, you will pass this class with no doubt.
Biggest beef : the links for the graded assignments were often not posted correctly. You are told to monitor your own grades--do it! After the first exam, all my totals were dropped and only the exam grade was counted in the totals. The lectures and study material were not well organized week to week. Overall very disorganized setup.
Professor Danley is very passionate and knowledgeable about A & P II. He's really funny too. Do the homework and you'll pass. study hard for the exams though because he doesn't give any study sheets. always show up for class he take role.
Lectures - used a powerpoint, but didn't read word for word; made the lectures very interesting and learned I learned a lot from them Homework/Quizzes - Used mastering A&P weekly. Was helpful but felt I learned more from youtube videos. Felt he was a great instructor, very fair and I would have to say I came away learning a lot about A&P 2
Mark knows the subject well so he approaches it as if you have that same understanding. His powerpoints are somewhat helpful, however are 100+ slides PER chapter. You rely a lot on the book to teach you. There is no outline or real objectives given that one needs to know for the exams. Didn't enjoy the class.
Don't you dare ask him a question, it's clear that he cannot be bothered under any circumstances per his TWO syllabi. ALL the exam reviews were worthless; not one question was on the actual exam, and the same goes for the lab course. He also talks crap about his students on his personal Facebook page. BEWARE!
Was a great professor that I strongly recommend taking! He's really funny and I learned more about biology in his lab than in my lecture. It's impossible to not pass this class with an A.. recommend x1,000!
He was a very hard grader and didn't give extra credit. He gives homework during exams and you can't make them up if you miss them and he gives a lot of homework. I would not take him again.
Electronic use is mandatory, placed in groups the entire semester and is taught in a flipped manner, where lectures are posted in Blackboard, and you learn on your own before going to class for discussion.
Had him for A&P I lab. Quizzes at beginning of lab are hard - short, but like another lecture test. But that is the only thing that gets graded. Modules are not turned in. Just act like you're doing them and you can check out mentally. Midterm and final are pretty hard, but not impossible. Perfect class. Many quizzes get dropped or replaced.
This is a hard class and he's a challenging professor but he tells you upfront what he expects. It is a lot of work. He has a great sense of humor but it took a while to see it!
This man is so dreamy! Great teacher and supportive of women rights. If you catch him wearing a red make america great again hat it is going to be a good class. Quick tip, if you bring him cookies to office hours he might give you extra credit.
Very knowledgeable. Has good sense of humor. Appears rather condescending at times. Complains about students alot in class and on Facebook which doesnt seem right. ALOT!!!
Really good professor he helps you understand the topics, even if it takes a while. Theres not that much reading, just the usual chapter reading before class. Gives homework and quizzes back quick with feedback.
Im not happy with his class! The exams were so hard! The information wasnt from the textbook. Make sure you spend lots of time on reading and research.
Honestly one of the worst professors I've ever had. Each module every week has anywhere from 3-8 lecture videos, and the powerpoints are usually over 100 slides long. Which would be fine if they contained helpful information but i found that the questions on the quizzes rarely had answers that you could find in the notes. Avoid this professor.
Do not call him John or else he will turn into a hulk!! Exams are so hard that no one passes it.
One of the worst professors Ive had, he gives two chapters to cover right after midterms and barely gives you room to breath and really comprehend throughout the whole course. Honestly just wanted to pass rather than learn, he doesnt teach any of it he just prepares the exams. The whole class is on Connect including the reading. Not recommended.
He is awesome and he makes class less boring with little jokes and life stories.
You just have to put in the work and you'll do good in this class. He gives a heads up on what you'll need to prepare for on an exam.
He is the worst professor i've ever had.He is so rude, and he does not help you at all. I tried to email him and ask questions, and he refused to answer me, told me to look at his syllabus. His exams are extremely difficult. No one passes. He even will even say that no one passed him exam so he will give a make up exam, that no one passes. Terrible
He's really intimidating, and the quizzes/exams are so hard. He does expect you to read the chapters he teaches before class, but honestly that helps me more. There is a lot of work but as long as you do it and you put effort into understanding it, he's great! Honestly I thought I'd pass the class with a low B, but I tried my best and it showed.
Good Bio lab teacher he's never boring. He's sometimes a bit sassy and rude at times. He grades super fast and overall this class really isn't too hard as long as you pay attention.
