ugly tests
Greatest art historian ever!
He is a really awesome professor who makes the material interesting. But study!!
This man knows his stuff! His tests are difficult so you better study!
Great art historian! Bends over backward for students who are serious learners.
A smart guy but his tests lack e.g. to many fill in the blanks and to short.
He's an ****
Exellent prof, but when the lights go out it's hard to stay awake-Fill in tests.
i haven't found the tests too difficult, but then, i enjoy the subject. Knows his stuff well, and he's sexy ;)
Dr. Deka is one kewl dude. I look forward to his class every day and I think that he is a good profeser. I think that he looks like a nice man, and I bet his family is happy with him. If he was my dad, I would be happy to. I like his class!
Not a lot of work but you have to study for the tests. He knows his stuff and tries to make it interesting.
I heart Deka!
He was a effing arsehole, tests were super hard, class was very long and boring, and the whole time we studied European churchs...WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT CHURCH STRUCTURE!!!! HORRIBLE CLASS AND TEACHER
Take him if you are serious about your major. It's not easy but if you listen you will learn much.
his tests are unbelievable, they are way too hard for anyone to take
I don't know exactly what to say. Dr. Deka is a very nice professor, but he is hard, and it seems like he expects you to know as much as he does about art history. Take him if you like a HUGE challenge, otherwise take something else and get a good grade
I had Dr. Deka for Overview, and it was way too hard. It is called overview for a reason! He went way too into depth with the topics, and the tests were way too hard. No way
Dr. Deka, Hi, this is Angelo, I had you a while ago. I loved your class! You are so my fav! Feel free to call me anytime ;)....youre a hottie! 724-8061
Dr. Deka is my favorite yet. I like when he wears those jeans. *hAhA* He is a great profesor. He makes me want to learn art and artists names. He winked at me and I knew it was gonna be a good class. *hAhA* ;)
Deka makes the class very interesting, he knows his greek art, names and dates just flow from his mind to the chalk board and the lecture. Did I mention that he is very nice to look at too.. Nice eyes, smile and that posture! ow ow
Dr. Deka is an awesome teacher. I didn't think I would like his class but I do. Not only that he is a very sexy man and kind of mysterious.
Very good teacher- easy to understand though the tests are more annoying than multiple choices. Interesting topic, though his monotone voice gets rather easy to fall asleep to. I'd take him again.
I think I'm the only person on campus who doesn't like Deka. I find him slimy, unapproachable, and arrogant. His tests are easy once you know what he wants, but I found his lectures impossible to stay awake for; I had to tape them to ace the class.
It's a very interesting class, he knows his stuff, and yes his tests are fill in the blank, but if you know what an Eygption King is called, you'll pass the class...cute too for an older man!!
Great teacher. He knows what he is talking about. On the tests.. make sure you know vocab and anything he had writen on the board and you will do fine. Slides are good and lectures are interesting. Very easy to talk to.
I've had more fun watching paint dry than listening to this man.
I feel Deka is a fair professor and as of yet I have not had any problems with him. The lectures tend to be a little dry but some of it is interesting.
His lectures are not that boring, I've had much worse. But for some ungodly reason, I manage to fail his tests.I think it has to do with 50% of his lecture has nothing to do with the test, the book does."GET THE BIG BOOK"! trust me.....

Dr. Deka is a great teacher, he brings lots of humor to the class that helps me stay awake, I have nothing to do with art, and I dont find art interesting, so its very nice when he cracks a joke... I recommend taking him.. Just make sure you write down the notes on the board. It helps!
great teacher
HARD TESTS! u can go over whats in the book but u never know whats gonna be on his tests. the questions are so random. dont sit near hot girls cause its hard to pay attention already and that doesnt help. good luck!
This class was absurd. It was supposed to scrape the surface and did the exact opposite. He presented way too much information, and tests were difficult. I never knew what to study, and i took good notes.
He is very hard and i really had no intrest in his class but i only went b/c i loved to look at him in those JEANS(hehe)

Easy tests, just bring your book & mark down what you see,& write what he has on the board so u know what to read. Funny guy! Just pay attention to class. Favorite art history prof., im an art major, hes been the best so far. In overview he doesnt make u remember dates just the gen. era/time frame
One of the best professors at EUP. Pay attention in class, take good notes, read the text and you're set.
The test were soo hard its un real.and if you think otherwise its only because you love art. Trust me. for non art majors its terrible. You need the book and you need to take notes. If you don't, don't get him. I would never take him again.hes a cool dude, but you never know what to studfy for.
If you HAVE to take this class and don't want to, take Deka. He makes things semi-interesting, but at the same time, you can fall asleep and still pass. He makes the tests easy and seems like a good guy.

Well you will use the book so make sure u bring it. If you aren't an art major this class will be difficult. The test are ruthless and make sure you take notes and study the pictures. Everything about the the picture, time, place, year, style ... alllll!!! On test he will show you slides and its fill in blank and on the back multiple choice
I love his class! The lectures are soo cool and as long as you read when you're suppose to, it's an easy class.

He's a really cool guy,and very interesting. He turned a boring class into an ok class. He also has testes that aren't that bad as long as you pay attention in class and look at the book once in a while.
Easy to understand, very straight-forward exams. If you pay attention in class and look over the material in the book you will have no problems.
I have had Deka for overview, ancient civ, renaissance, and pharaohs. Deka makes me love art history, he is the reason i chose to minor in it. BUT do not take him for a 500 leve course because the tests are all essays and he is psycho and strict about the higher level courses and makes them extremely difficult.
zzzzzzz....oh, sorry, that was me in Prof. Deka's class. He is a good professor, no doubt, but his monotone voice and lack of student participation will send you into a torpor. Then again, the dark room and whir of the slide projector does not help. Tests aren't bad if you know yours slides and terms.
This man is an idiot. The information he gives in class is either innaccurate or just plain wrong. He nitpicks tests and papers to no end, yet constantly screws up on grammar in his own comments after (finally) handing them back. If you ask for help, you will probably be ignored. A mind-blowing hypocrite like most Edinboro professors.

Warning, he will be at least five minutes late, and will keep you at least five over. If you can't deal, don't take his class. If you can manage to stay awake, he has interesting things to say. Pay attention, the smallest details will be on the test. He's great as a human, but a mediocre prof b/c he doesn't give any one else a chance to talk.
easy class if you do the reading and take notes
He is knowledgable, but always late. He takes forever grading tests but those tests are easy because they are comprehension based with short answers/essays and you can always get partial credit. The material is easier to understand if you do the readings (that also helps with spelling the far-eastern vocabulary!) You will learn a lot.
He is extremely knowledgable, yet tries to keep each session light & funny. If you want more class interaction to liven it up, just raise your hand & speak. He goes beyond what's in the book. You will need to read the assigned chapters & pay attention to do well (meaning an A). He is willing to help during office hours and a great prof over all!
Inarticulate, boring, unknowledgeable about subject. If you have a question, better to look it up in the book then ask, because he won't know. Unhelpful, unfunny, unfair. Pick a superlative and make it negative, and he will qualify. What an awful class. AVOID.
Dr. Deka was a really good prof. i went in thinking this was gonna be the biggest waste of my time, but he actually taught in a way that kept my attention...cause i HATE art classes. U learn about the art but you learn a lot of history too, very interesting class and prof, take him for this class if you can.

Great guy, likes to joke and keep things light and entertaining, enjoys interaction with students, very nice, very easy if you have any basic study and note-taking skills. Knows his subject and goes beyond textbook.
I've had Dr. Deka for many classes now and he is, hands down, my favorite professor. He knows his subjects well and is enthusiastic about them. I can't stress enough how interesting his classes are. You need to be able to take notes in his class and you definitely need to attend. You will walk away learning something whether you want to or not.
Deka is enthusiastic about what he teaches and is always willing to help his students. He knows his stuff, he?s funny and makes class interesting. He does expect you to do the work so if you want an easy A or hate art, don?t bother complaining. As a bonus he looks FABULOUS in a pair of jeans.
Notes are on a small chalkboard so if you can't see in the big lecture hall you need to move up because he jumbles all the things you need to know together and sometimes you can't tell what it says. Use the book and study it religiously. Pay attention in class. He's an attractive guy and has a cool sense of humor. I liked this class!
Great professor! I took this class as a filler and I have no interest in art but ended up with a high A in the class. His tests are fill in the blank with a word bank. He is funny and cracks a lot of jokes if you listen to him.
Awesome professor! If you want to learn, take his classes. It's true, he knows his stuff, and as long as you're paying attention you will be interested. He expects you to do the reading and pull your weight, but as long as you do, you're fine. Oh, and it never hurts that he's also a good looking man! :)
Dr. Deka is an amazing professor. I really enjoyed this class. I would def recommend taking him. I was skeptical about taking an Art History class b/c it really didn't interest me, but turned out to be my absoulte favorite class!!!! I would absolutely take him again if i get a chance. He seems dry at first but his jokes are quite funny!!!!
The class itself is kinda boreing but not dreadful. Really funny teacher, very easy to understand. Dont miss a class or youll be lost. Even though the class was kinda boreing he made it interesting. and DONT TEXT or he will call you out in front of the whole class haha love ittt.
Dr. Deka is a bad dude. He is a man of awesome intellectual range and can talk about anything and make it fascinating. It helps too that he has a good sense of humor and looks like a Greco-Roman sculpture. Take him no matter what your major is. Edinboro should change Doucette to Deka.
Dekas an awesome professor. He gives you a review sheet of exactly what to study and his tests are super general and easy, although of course you must study.
Deka is not only a fantastic professor, he is extremely attractive. I love going to his classes, I never miss! His teaching style is clear and precise, and his tests are easy if you just pay attention and take a few notes. Love this man! I would take his class again in a heartbeat!
Deka is a wonderful professor. His lectures are easy to understand, because he shows the pictures and explains them so that everyone understands the information. Tests are relatively easy, but you need to go to class to get the information. You need the textbook to study the information for class. I would definitely take this class again.
He is very nice, but at times during his lectures he goes pretty quick. It isn't a hard class, but you do need to study to get an A. Your only grades are tests (5 or 6 depending), but there is no cumulative final. Every test is visual so you MUST be able to look at the pictures and know what they are. Overall good class, and would take again.
Deka is by far my favorite professor in the school! He is down to earth and genuine. Take the time to speak with him, he will talk with you. He's very helpful and understanding to students. If you keep him updated with your life, you're more than willing to pass and given time to catch up. He is worth it and would take him again, (I always do)!!
One of my favorite professors. His tests are visual on the front with a word bank on the back. There is about 5 or 6 tests that make up your grade. They are tough and you'll need to study a little, he gives you a study guide you need to fill out with notes. You can't miss any classes but they are so interesting that you'll want to go. Talk to him.
He is a great teacher and very funny. Try to take as many notes as possible and be very specific. If he gives you a "study guide" thing, keep it and use it! You have to study a lot for his test but he is a great teacher. Do not skip his class. My biggest complaint is sometimes he cancels class but doesn't send out an email, he just puts a note up.
Marky mark is a funny guy and will throw in something he probably he saw on twitter here and there. Complains about the school just as much as you do. EASY class, both Non-west and overview. Book is helpful if u look at it but as long as you take notes & pay attention, super easy A.
Dr. Deka uniquely combines art history with actual history lessons, providing a great educational experience.
Absolutely loved Deka. If youre into funny comments about artwork, youll love his class!! Ive taken him with two other classes, and he is still on my top 5 best professors from Edinboro University.
I have had Deka for 3 classes before this one and he has always been a fantastic teacher. He is funny in a subtle way. He will work with you if something actually happens and you can't take a test. You have to work and study to get a good grade but you definitely get your moneys worth with Deka.
He lectures a lot but the material is actually interesting and easy to understand. Tests every other week, but if you pay attention in class they're easy to pass. I suggest making quizlets with everything from the review sheets.
Despite not doing well in his class that's my own fault. It took me a bit to understand how he tested but once I did I was good. His lectures are interesting but most of the test is from PowerPoints audio notes and the textbook. He enjoys what he teaches so much that he gives a lot of information that's not used. So take notes after class.
Great teacher, passionate about the subject, and gives good lectures. Another day another Deka.
Love the teacher He is very enthusiastic in the subject! If you take notes and study you will do fine!
Dr. Deka is very caring toward his students. His class is graded only on tests, so there are no writing assignments or discussion boards. He does a good job of preparing the students for his tests through his lectures, reviews, and zoom meetings. While I am not a great test taker, I feel comfortable and reassured taking his class.
Even though it's a challenging class, you do gain a lot out of knowledge on art history from it.
Great professor, I looked forward to his lectures, but his tests are hard, worked well with OOD accommodations, it was very much a 'you have 5 tests and that's your grade' read the textbook and take notes and you should be fine though. He is a good professor and I would take him again.
This lecture will be the ultimate test of patience, having to learn about art history through minimal notes on the screen, you will need to write down everything he says. you must study everything you can in order to have the best results when test time comes. only tests. They are very random.
If you can stay awake some of this stuff is pretty interesting. The tests are based off of important images and fun facts, but if you can take good notes and organize the information in your head you'll walk away with some understanding of art history.
