Fun class! He's a funny guy, his tests aren't too bad, but he gives you all you need to know before hand. Just come to class. That's it. And you'll be fine. =) Really great teacher... gonna take another few of his classes.

I believe psychology is extremely hard but with Duva psychology is much easier to understand and much fun. He made us feel comfertable in class and reconizing that pyschology is part of life. Dr. Duva is the type of professor that welcomes and encourages any questions that one may have to be asked. He makes the subject fun and interesting with his akward sense of humor (don't worry it isn't too painful). The fact that he treats his students as equal to him makes the atmosphere more comfortable, plus the subject its self is just awsome!

I have never had Duva before and knew nothing about him. I ended up in his class by chance and have yet to regret it. He is very sarcastic (my kind of guy), anal (I can relate), and flusters easily. Kind of a weird/anxious guy (a little too "comfortable" with students), but a fun, great class overall.

I like the videos and the Jamed Randi commentary's that we discuss in class. The class allowed me to open up my mind and actually question topics that I would not have before. The teacher was a great help in developing my critical thinking skills.

Dr. Duva is one the few professors at Cerritos who have inspired to me to learn. In Psych103 your analyzing skills come alive and you learn to be impartial, and skeptical about claims made by charlattans. I really enjoyed the class. I took it during the summer so it was quite a bit of info. crunched into 6 weeks! Overall the class is pretty strait forward, but he does grade drawings as if you were in an art class instead if psyc. It's not an easy A...you definately have to know what he is talking about to keep up.

Prof. Mark Duva, over the last six weeks has been a helpfull, knowledgeable, and positive instructor, always keeping the class fun. More importantly Prof. M.Duva was always their to help out with questions, regardless of wheather they were in class or on his own personal time. I feel that Mark is a great teacher. I really enjoyed the class. Im glad that I enrolled in it, Im am now sad that it is over though. I would highly recommend this class to all my friends and family. The slides were a major help, and all topics were covered thoroughly. I really appreciated the fact he made the subject more interesting then what it seemed in the book.

Very likeable, unpretentious but enthusiastic about the subject as well as teaching it. Duva has a somewhat effervescent teaching style that never gets boring. Listen during class and you'll be in good shape. Chapters are announced well in advance, so it is easy to keep up unless you are a complete imbecile or sleep your way through class.

It make a difference if u read the text. 2 exams, no paper, 1 final and its comprehensive. If you need this class take it w/ Duva. The topics are complex but he is easy to understand.

He IS a procrastinator. It took forever to get papers and tests back. Although, lectures were on current events, within the last few weeks/months. Not so much a QT, too old, but nice and funny.

There was a statement made about someone wanting to kill himself because of Prof. Duva's lectures. No doubt, the person was already suicidal! then two,to cry about the professor using experience to inspire his students, ( well taken).A person like that will complain because the sun shines on a daily basis. he/she missed a good opportunity to learn.

As most prof's Duva is passionate about his subject and he knows his stuff. If you have any question AT ALL about ANYTHING ask him. professor duva's class is fairly easy because all you really need to do is go to class,pay attn and study your notes to get an A. he mskes sure to cover evrythng that will be on exams in depth. his lectures are very straightforward, easy to understand, and very dynamic. he has amusing tales that keep your attn. theres also EC to help you more

Great teacher who goes into excellent depth; perhaps too much. Islands move faster than the class. He can answer questions and give a whole *lot* more info than needed. In the end, you may only have covered a few sections. If you don't get it the excessive times he explains things you never will. Ergo, it's no surprise chapters are left off.

Fun Class, alot of very interesting topics. All tests/Quizes are based on Lecture,so its important to attend class everyday, but not so important to read the book.

Here's the deal—when he decided to teach actual psychology the class was very interesting. Problem was, this whole thing basically became a bio class. I know he is a biopsychologist, but we had to cover nearly half the syllabus in one day. Why did we spend weeks on eye structure?! It didn't seem necessary to me.

It is true that he spends weeks for sensory structures. But regardless of his major, IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT for psychology since everything we think is strongly involved with sensory system! The quality of education in this class is very high. Personal story that he says are also related to topics. If you are really into psy, take his class!

Great teaching skills, info given in class was too obvious therefore class was useless. Professor talked 75% of class time about James Randi, his idol, then crunched the rest of the class into 25% thus screwing us of more knowledge. I got a B on the class, its not too dificult... But extremely borinnnng.

Overall great teacher, funny, though he occasionally derails from the lesson. There was only three exams throughout the semester so STUDY for them. Though reading the book should get you by with ease, taking notes helps big time. He gives one opportunity for extra credit, but its not worth much so dont count on it. Easy class!

Professor Duva supplies all relevant course material within lectures, condones class participaion, grade is determined upon 2 large tests and 3 quizzes. Tests are mult choice however rely on your ability to apply lessons learned in class. Judge class on first test, drop accourdingly. Bottom line, he's fair, consistant,knoledgable, and accessable.

Professor Duva is awesome!!! I would highly recommend him. He talks almost the whole class time, but keeps students interested with his stories. There is no homework, the grade is based on only 3 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He curves the final grade, and there are a few extra credit opportunities. And yes, you NEED the book!!!

Its one of...if not THE best class I've ever taken. You'd think Psychobiology would be hard but M. Duva makes it fairly easy and super interesting to learn. My advice: go to class cause then you can focus on what to read. Trust me, you should go. Its a good habit to have. And when reading use the "Stop & Check" questions. They help a lot. Have fun!

He's a cool teacher. He can go on for days without stopping. He gives so many examples for everything. It helps a lot but it can get a little boring if you're stuck in one his endless stories. He's a really cool guy though and a grate teacher. He definitely knows what hes talking about unlike many other professors. I didn't use the textbook at all.

Taking a summer course of PsychBiology was pretty intense with Prof. Duva. He has tons of knowledge and is eager to share. All very valuable information, but alot to digest in 6 weeks if you working full time as well. He is an excellent teacher. I loved his passion for the subject. Powerpoints are awesome, but I recommend still reading the text!

Professor Duva is both competent and entertaining as a teacher. He gives examples from his own life so that students have something to relate with the textbook concepts. He is also very helpful and thorough in his teaching. He provides powerpoint outlines to help us focus on the most pertinent and important information of our chapters.

He enjoys the subject he teaches and makes the class enjoyable. You do have to study and do the work to get a good grade, but he is helpful if you ask. He is also very funny and has a lot of stories to tell.

Duva is a great Professor who knows the psychology field very well. many have complain about his teaching method in the research class. yet they are not aware that this is his first time teaching the subject. he has alot of experience when it comes to experiments, so take his advise wisely. Professor really kicked butt! All information was presented in class and also online for the quizzes and tests. Also was very good at going over material when we did not understand it. Utilized specific examples tailored to the real life situations that our book did not clearly explain. Take this class!!! But, work hard!

This is a good professor who really helps people understand the concept if you have a question. I had gotten a job opportunity moving 16' wide windmill generator towers in Texas, but I had to leave just before the final. He allowed me to take an incomplete and take the final a year later. So if you ask me, I'd say that he is a very nice professor.

It was an easy class. All you really had to do was use your common sense. I enjoyed his lectures, although some of them were boring and seemed a bit useless. Otherwise, he's a cool professor. I'd take him again.

Great professor; cares that you learn! Material is difficult. Studying is a must. Attendance is a must! Again, the material is very challenging but Duva is fair with grades and willing to help - via office hours or e-mail. Put some effort into it and you will pass - maybe learn something too!

The actual class was a pretty hard class although Duva and our TA help us a lot during our experiments. Duva is a real nice guy and understands the students' points of view. He means well. The class requires a lot of reading of the text and showing up to class for the experiments. I liked the class because you get to meet a lot of people.

The one thing I don't like about Duva was that he took too long answering stupid questions students ask. He spends a large amount of time talking about 1 thing and sometimes repeats himself. Overall the class was pretty fun. Duva was a lot of help while we were having experiments. He was stressed out as much as the students were because he cared :D

This class is so hard and it's just the introduction course! But Mark Duva is a great teacher. He gives you everything you need to do well and if you don't it's because you are retarded! I hate science but he made it so fun and interesting that I never missed a class. Take him if you really want to learn and do well in this subject!

I do appreciate the humor and the generous curve in what is normally a very dry topic. If you don't do well with lectures then you may struggle. My suggestion would be to write down everything on those powerpoints and memorize them. For the minuse he could be on the abrasive side at times. His tests and quizzes are pretty demanding.

I like his openmindedness and clarity in teaching. Sometimes, the pace can get slow. He either talks about a subject too much or talks more about other irrelevant topics. Oh, he gets emotional on some political topics too. Pretty cool though. Ask questions. He is very helpful. I wish we covered more topics and the pace of the class was faster.

Hey Mr Duva i just want you to now that you are acool looking teacher for your age i am going out with a guy that is your age and iam only 26yrs but to me age does not matter to me well you are a good looking teacher and i enjoy your classs.

Where do I start, here is the concern if you failed your tst, or didn't do well, or missed the first exam you have no room for error, we get no homework, extra credit is worth about 3 point are you serious can this really brings someones grade up if you have a D or an F.. Also he sounds confusing, tell us what we need to study and specific boring!

Had him for critical thinking psych and psych stats. For some reason he always likes to use Penis Pills as an example, regardless of the class and he emphasizes it with jazz hands. Great teacher.

This is a class where your tested on your ability to be responsible. As long as you read the text carefully, the class will be fun. Only thing is that he gives few points, so make them count. Great teacher.

This proff is the best. very easy to pass his class if you attend everyday and take all of his notes. You don't even need to buy the book trust me. I had him once a week for 3hrs but he made sitting there feel like 30 mins. He's a lot of fun, has a lot of energy and is super hilarious! TAKE HIS CLASS!! promise you'll pass :D

He is a great professor. He may not give a review, but his tests are easy as long as you study the notes from class. He uses real life stories to make you understand the subject better. He always in a good mood. Totally recommend him!

Open and honest, extremely helpful, use of Power Points, Note and Book was on the quiz, mid-term and final. Some of the quiz questions were on the final. So study PP and notes to pass the class. If you are disabled student he will works with you and accommodated your needs.

Great prof. Class was entertaining as well as educational. Use of life stories and humor kept the 3 hour class going as if it were only half that time. You will do well in this class if you just show up and take notes. Can't wait to take his stats class. Definite must take course.

Mark Duva is a great teacher. My respect for his knowledge of psychobiology grew more after each class that I attended. He kept the class interesting with real life stories. You do need to attend and take good notes, its not an easy subject, but if you do the reading on schedule like you should and study your notes before the test, you'll do well.

Dr. Duva is a professor I plan to take again. The class was easy and there wasn't a lot of work. The midterm and final were harder than expected, but he threw out a decent amount of EC at the end of the semester. If you've got a problem with an informal professor, don't take him. All in all, I was pleased with both the class and the prof.

Great teacher and own to earth. Makes learning fun and talks about life experiences. He is what I expect from a teacher and hes willing to help if you need any. Would of done better if I didnt slack, but overall the class wasnt that hard it was good. Just study for quizes he gives and he gives you a study sheet that comes in handy. Great Teacher.

Dr. Duva is hands down one of the most intelligent professors I have ever had the privilege of learning under. What made his class fun was the fact that the guy is really funny. The class was challenging however I am thankful for all that I learned.

Too be honest. The quizzes we were easy, but the tests were hard. Still a little iffy on the PowerPoints. However, he has a good sense of humor, is pretty laid back, and has interesting stories. I'd have a class with him.

This class was so easy, you don't even need to buy the book. Taking the notes is good enough to encode the information into your long-term memory. He such a character. And what can I say? the man loves in and out burgers. So if you ever see this guy, why not surprise him with an in and out burger? Just don't ask him if he's okay, because he is.

Duva is a good teacher as long as you listin and pay attention to the power points. What ever he has on the test are on the power points. He is a funny guy.I honestly learned alot.

Professor Duva is a very good teacher. There was so munch information to learn in such a short time, but I really came out of his class with a lot of information. He presents the information in an easy to learn format. His test cover exactly what he teaches. No surprises.

Good teacher. I recommend you take him during the summer, he's pretty chill. Key is to take lots of notes and pay attention. If you think you can just go home and read the book, it'll be useless because more than half the stuff on the test is what he talks about in class. The people that are whining are obviously not even trying.

Great Teacher. Really Knows his stuff. Makes Learning Fun. Takes the time to help you if you show initiative and interest. Make no mistake some of the material is hard and if you just show up to class to socialize instead of paying attention you will get lost. do what you are supposed to do as a student and you will pass.Slack off; blame yourself..

Very helpful professor. Genuinely cares about students. Will help if asked. Wish he taught alot more courses, would take him for all classes. Just want to say Thank you for actually teaching.. He is an extremely realistic kind of professor. He understands how it is to be a student more than any other professor I've ever had. He is cool too, he doesn't try to confuse you. His quizzes always caught me by surprise because I studied too much for them, when the answers are straight from his lectures and the power points.HE IS THE BEST PERIOD

Very fair professor. His lectures are based on his outlines on a powerpoint. Fair amount of EC points, 1 take home quiz out of 3. Midterm and finals. Study outlines from PPT and you will do well. Prof. Duva is a great teacher he acually cares about the students He takes time from his breaks lunch just whatever he is doing to help you he even takes the time to help students that arent even in his class Dont expect to his class if you are not going to show up for class go to class late or decide you want to watch movies on your lap top.......

....if your not reading the chapters and doing the work and paying attention you will not pass his class. I enjoy his stories they help me focus because lets face it statistics is not that interesting, but because of his stories he really does help you enjoy his class as well as statistics. Class can be essentially easy i promise. Read the Text prior going to clas meetings. Make sure you go to Class! Notes are critical for all in-class quizzes. The powerpoints play an integral part in the class for the overall Test.So Utilize them!! Finally, Dr. M.Duva has been one outstanding professors at cerritos college. Take him i encourage you!!

Great teacher. He gets soo excited during his lectures. He makes sure he explains everything to everyone so they know what's going on. He goes off on random tangents, but most of the time they turn into HILARIOUS stories. He's very open with his past and makes the class super relatable.

Great teacher! He sidetracks a bit but overall the class was good and he's an awesome teacher. Quizzes and tests may seem hard but he curves them so you'll definitely pass the class :) I wouldn't mind taking another Psych class with him.

Mark Duva is an extremely fun teacher. He is very helpful and I learned a lot of interesting facts because of his class. Sometimes he does get off topic but it's always to make a point. It is not too hard to get a good grade in his class. There is usually no homework, just tests and quizzes. I recommend him as a teacher if you want to learn.

He gives you the definition of important terms before he says them or writes them down which sucks. Also, PLEASE MAKE STUDY GUIDES FOR EXAMS! but overall he's a nice guy and knows exactly what he's talking about.

This class is pretty laid back. I can see why people feel as though Duva gets off subject, but he always makes a connection to the class. I enjoy the class. I wish I would have taken it earlier (time) because I am typically tired after work. But he keeps the class up and entertained all while taching a great lesson.

I loved this class, becasue of mark im at CAL Berkeley. What a phenomenon professor, I strongly recommend him. You will learn alot from him with out a doubt. Duva's class was semi hard because we wouldn't really go over the txt book that much it is mostly what he lectures about in class but his lectures re interesting andyou do learn alot. I am very upset to know he wil no longer be teaching because he was a great guy and knew bout his subject. he is also very helpfull.

he is a teacher that you will learn from as long as you attend his class and take notes. the class doesn't depend heavily on book but on teacher's lectures, meaning you have to attend class to understand. he greatly welcomes student participation and most of the time ask the students, unfortunately im in the class that no one really cares..

Mr. Duva was a great professor. He was passionate about his teachings. He was funny and would encourage his students to participate with the lectures. From all my classes this was the one I always looked forward on attending. Awesome teacher.

Not much of a writer but coming from someone that RETIRED from the U.S. Army and I has severe PTSD. My professor not once made me feel out of it . So Im very thankful.
