I like professor Evans, hes a funny guy, hes crazy, he knows how to make everyone laugh. He has a unique style of teaching and if you cant take a joke or if you dont work well with sarcasm, you wont get the class. He uses a lot of toilet humor and jokes about everyday things that mostly anyone can relate to. And, he doesnt give a lot of homework.

Professor Evans is GREAT, he tells it like it is and if you don't like to hear the truth then you don't need to be in the class. He is one of the few that makes learning fun. He talks to you like your a person with an opinion, not like a child who can't think for them self. If only others teachers were like him. He's very informative, one of a kind

Great professor!!! Knows the material he teaches and makes it easy to understand. He has his opinions/views, but does not push them on you, instead he gets you to see the other side. If you decide to take Professor Evans you need to have an open mind and a sense of humor.

HOT sociology. Professor is very good looking, and presents a lot of useful material. The class is not hard if you are not a moron. Read the books that are recommended, they are actually very interesting!! Lots of Chomsky, and Zinn. Also 1984!! Class is always fun, professor shows enthusiasm for material.

Easy. Attend class, watch videos, and read. Be aware that he approaches controversial subjects with humor. I enjoyed the class, but do not recommend it for those easily offended. Conduct yourself as an adult and you'll do fine.

very interesting teacher shows the truth and saying it the way it is. you have to study for the exams ,which is not hard if you know the material. ask questions he will answer it in class or in email. overall i loved this class and would recommend it to anyone would like to learn something new.

In defense of professor Evans. 1. Yes he is very hyper, but passionate about his subject. 2. He is NOT prejudice. I am a black woman and he made me feel very comfortable. He showed us videos about black men & hip hop and how they treat woman, he showed a film about how Arabs are treated in the media--he cares about minorities. VERY GOOD CARING

"Do not like this professor he is very very hard. I drop this class because he is not understandable. He is something else." Gee you can barely write. Are you sure you should even be in college? prof Evans puts his own lectures together from the book but puts the ideas in a contemporary context. Anyone who can not pass his class is just lazy!!

Crass and rude for sure, but I find this behavior to be very entertaining. Evans is extremely passionate about sociology and it shows in his lectures. I really learned a lot!!!

Mr. Evans is hilarious. I love this class. The assignments are so easy. He pretty much gives you all the questions for tests and quizzes so that makes it easier. He makes fun of everyone but also sticks up for everyone. Hes a great teacher. I'm learning a lot and changing my point of view on many things.

What's with the low ratings for Mr.Evans?! I took his class through dual-enrollment while I was still in highschool, he's not bad at all!! He's an AMAZING prof! Gives you study guides that are the EXACT SAME as the tests, responds to e-mails quickly, and overall just a great professor! You will walk out of this class knowing you learned something.

This class is a eye opener! Best class I've taken so far at HFCC. You will learn tons of useful info. This guy offers a ton of extra credit and tells you what to study. Be prepared you might have to change the way you think about the world, and our country! No body should fail his class

I missed one session and felt like I missed a week of information. Anyways, It is true, Mr. Evan is the rudest, hyper, weirdo, creepy, handsome nerd of instructor one can have, but he is very educational and entertaining. In my opinion, He needs to be a full time teacher. He is AWESOME and shows what we're ignoring. It is not for the weak of heart.

Prof Evans is hands down one of the best teachers i've had at hfcc. he tells it like it is, very into politics and corporate america. he is very funny and connects with students in a way that most prof's can not. thoroughly his class, you learn practical info as well as academic, truly eye-opening course, other professors should take this class.:)

I love this professor and still say hi to him everytime i pas him on campus. His class is soooo entertaining. He gives out study guides to all tests amd sooo sooo much extra credit maybe 15 percent. He is really funny, i see how some people might see it as rude, but its all innocent. He speaks his mind and is fair to everyone. He is extremely nice!

LOVE him. Took 131 with him over a year ago and just emailed him this week to ask his opinion on a political topic. I didn't find any of the work to be hard or excessive and I found all of the material to be very enlightening and interesting. He isn't rude, he's honest, some people just can't take that. Go home to Mommy, cry babies.

since taking this class, i haven't looked at the world in the same way. although mr evans is always all over the place, and saying the craziest things. he's been one of the best teachers i've ever had.

This class took a very interesting approach to sociology. The professor is a very easy going guy; he tells you what he expects you to know for tests. There are SEVERAL EC opportunities, take them, they will help a lot in the end. Some are as simple as watching a film and analyzing it. I would recommend this class to a friend for sure.

He changed my life and all the pre-existing thoughts I had about everything that surrounded me. Eye opener. Definitely a critical thinking class. Highly highly highly recommend him if you dont want to be a sheep in society for the rest of your life.

Definitely a professor that should be sought out if you're taking Gen Ed classes. Really tailors the class towards what he is passionate about. Extremely down to earth and humorous, some people find this to be offensive. Not an easy class, 3-5 hours of study (this includes homework) before each Test or Quiz(~every 2 weeks) required to get an A.

Mr.Evans really changed my perception of the world and whats really going on. He teaches about well known sociologists and he definitely knows what he's talking about. There are multiple EC opportunities, which is always a plus. This man really changed my thought process. Had an amazing time in the class.

Absolutely Eye-opening

Prior to this class, I knew nothing about the government, politics, or anything of the sort. I am amazed at what I have been taught in such a short amount of time. This class is eye opening and I HIGHLY recommend him. Take all EC, show up to class and you should be fine!

Professor Evans was a very motivated teacher. He gets excited by demonstrating examples for the class to make it easier for you to relate what he's talking about. He gives you an outline for the exams. There is extra credit too. I just completed class in Fall 2013. He was the best Professor I ever had in three years at HFCC! Thanks M

Mark Evans is awesome. Don't be discouraged the first day of class. You will learn more than you want to about the world. By far one of the best teachers at HFCC. Lots of video material. Extremely passionate about sociology. Keep an open mind, pay attention, watch the movies, and you will do fine.

Great Teacher, knows what hes doing!

Depending on which side of the political spectrum you're on, Mr. Evans may be the best or worst teacher you have at HFCC. He gave three pizza night documentary viewings and a chance to turn in your book for extra credit. A caveat, you will probably know more about the underbelly of Corporate America than sociology when you're done with the course.

Definitely not for the faint of heart. He's very passionate, and he's very blunt. It's o holds barred, and several people dropped the class before the semester was up because he's not for everyone. However, if you can appreciate his personality and humor, his class is a riot, and it'll completely change how you view, well, everything.

Need to take sociology? Well take it with this professor. Passionate in what he does. You will definitely have fun and probably laugh a lot. Not for people want to skip class and joke around. Also if you can't take a joke don't take him, you'll probably leave the room crying.

Professor Evans gave very well planed and entertaining lectures . He also sends notes out with each unit and emails it with an assortment of videos and clips about the mass media (very helpful). If you study and read whats required the exams are a breeze. You can miss a two classes but after that it starts to effect your grade.

Mr. Evans is great! Since the first day he was clear on what to expect from that class. He really makes you work for it, but hey its college. I never missed a class, I was always on time, never disruptive, I was open-minded, and I did terrible on the tests; however, he gave me a B. If you do what you're told this class is a breeze. I took Mr. Evans in 2013. Im writing this review in 2015 bc I graduated from uofm this year and recalled what a life changing impact he had on my college career. Hes different but hes a life changer. Your outlook of this world will never be the same. Ive never done these reviews before but do yourself a favor and take him. Thank me later.

You must be ready to step out of high school and into the real world. He is eccentric but week help you as long as you are willing to help yourself. You will learn in a real world way but just via a book so be present at lectures. He gave me helpful tips to get back into the swing of school.

It's a fun class, lots of videos and movies. But for the three hours, you really have to pay attention his emphases.

Inspirational entertaining lectures on the underbelly of American policies & major corporations

Great guy but not my style. I like reading out of a text book and taking notes. However, you are not allowed to have anything on his desk while he lectures and only gives videos to watch that I don't believe pertains to sociology as much as it should. I enjoy how he gives u a different perspective to the world however it strays from sociology.

An excellent instructor with a great sense of humor and irony. Ideological lecture content is meaningful and important. It's a good combination of mostly sociology with some psychology and history. Amount of reading is manageable. One of the most interesting aspects of this class is the juxtaposition of fictional and nonfictional violence.

Knows his stuff. Changed the way I think about everything. Attendance is mandatory( no b.s. excuses) leave the cell phone off.

Prof. Evans cares about one thing--- making sure you leave his class knowing the subject matter covered. He uses life experiences and wild stories to teach you. Most of the time you are laughing at his dramatic deliveries of the lessons, and you don't even realize you have learned it..... until test time. Take him, be serious, value his lessons, A+

Professor Evans is one of the best professors I have had. He is far from Easy, but would like each & every student to from the knowledge gained in his class. He is entertaining while lecturing, & never leaves a dull moment while in class. His quizzes are pretty hard, but if you know the subjects, & given yourself time to study, you'll be fine.

Great prof. If someone fails, it's b/c they didn't put in the work. Lots of fun stories that directly link to text. You need your textbook but also need to take good notes. He is a cool prof that makes you work for a good grade but will help you after class if you need extra help. Don't skip, read, study your notes. He is one of the best.

Professor Evans scared me when I first walked in to class, but he was a great teacher and mentor. He made me work and made me push myself but it was all for me to better myself. If you want someone who is animated & funny with a good mix of crazy, take him. He will make you understand sociology not just pass you for getting work done.

He gives you a reading list. You will know EXACTLY what to read. He has a class calendar. He gives extra credit. Has EC movie nites n buys pizza the last night. He cares about his students Does not use all the book yes 20% of the class is video. He can be rude if you ask him questions u should know. Trust me, people ask questions he covered

Spend about an hour going over the handouts and an hour going over the terms he tells you to study for the test. I received a C+ on my first test, but he gives extra credit for attendance and pizza nights. I ended up not having to take the last exam, for it did not effect the grade I earned. If you put in the work, it won't go unnoticed.

He is not easy, but makes you love sociology. It is now getting to the end of the semester and I am dreading the end because he is just an all-around great teacher who really loves what he teaches and loves his students. He does expect you to do all work & to be in class, but you will enjoy his classroom shenanigans. def recommend!

I loved my time with Prof. Evans he is by far the most entertaining teacher I have ever had. Some advice- don't talk while he's talking, DO NOT use your phone during class, read the notes, and WATCH THE VIDEOS. If you follow his guidelines, you'll get a good grade! It's that easy! Take him- you won't regret it!

Mark Evans is freakin awesome like he means well to his lecture. It is a sociology class its not meant for alot of people. He speaks truth and facts to back his lecture. This class is not for the weak minded. He is an awesome instructor. He gives whats on the test 2 times before you actually take the test.

I actually had him as a professor in 2012 and I still speak very highly of him today. He is an amazing teaching. Highly recommended if you are up for a challenge and a new perspective on the world we live in.
