Pretty cool guy, lectures can drag. Tests are ok, need pretty good notes, can be detailed.
He makes sure that eveyone understands. He is also avaliable to his student and you feel pretty comfortable in his class. He may sometimes go off the subject but thats ok because he will always make you laugh and then he'll go back to the subject.

One of the most helpful my first year. gives extra credit assigments n wants everyone to pass his class. If u get on his good side, he'll let u retake the exam as long as u make an effort n go to class. Attendence is important, and exams are multiple choice. Easy class if u have good memory
He's a nice guy with a good sense of humor, but the class was beyond boring. The tests were a little unfair at times.. a lot of the stuff I studied was never on tests and he would barely test on lecture material, just textbook or seemingly useless facts. Overall it wasn't too great of a class.
He is a nice guy, and the class is pretty easy if you know everything on the study guide. The tests can be hard, but sometimes he'll give the class a retest if everyone fails. Can be funny at times.Takes attendence at the end, so you can go to class 40 minutes late everyday, and it will still be ok.
The exams are random and confusing, has notes online and they coincide with class but he jumps all over the place... and he's not funny (his jokes are lame)And the video's at the end of class are pointless...
Don't hate on the man for his boring-ness. He talks about rocks and rivers you can't liven that**** up. Good guy. Attendence is the key. He wants ur ass in the seat everyday. If he has to be there so do u. Auto C grade if u show up no matter what u do on exam. He is tenured what does he care
This guys the f*cking man. Go to class, theres cool movies and he cracks lots of jokes and tells awesome stories. Tests are fairly basic, just pay attention in class. Notes online are awesome. THIS ONES FOR YOU FEIGY! /m/ ROCK ON /m/
if u go to class u cant go wrong. the prof. is nice, funny, and does his best to make the class easy and interesting for nonscience majors. the notes are online and you get extra credit by going to the liberty science center, and points added to your grade for attendence. Come on people, not hard!!!!
He was very helpful and very fair grader. He curved every exam and let you do extra-credit. If you don't pass his class, then there is something wrond with you. Good Guy.
fun class, cool prof
awesome guy, subject matter is kind of boring, but he makes an effort to make a little more out of it. He wants everyone to pass and offers extra credit.someone's cell phone rang and he danced, that was pretty funny. Lectures don't always coincide with the online notes, so just take notes in class
I'm so glad I took this class, because we all need to take science at some point and this is def the best class to take. Unlike alot of other pompous professors, he cares about his students doing well.Just go to class, absorb as much as you can,and study the notes.Feigenson, you rock!
Easy class, but sorta dull, and the fact that he sometimes takes attendance could be a problem. Sorta strange grading system... I would watch out..
Great class for nonscience students. Professor is pretty cool and helpful. Not bad for an old guy.
really funny and nice guy. knows that students taking his class are not geology majors so keeps it simple. just go to class every day, take the exams, and definetely do extra credit if he offers it and he'll do more than take care of you.
This class is boring definetly.. but he understands you are a liberal arts student, I thought I was on the bubble for this class but wound up getting a C+, so I'm really happy with that... I didn't do that well on the exams, the extra credit helped. Feigy, thanks for the C+
A very good teacher
This guy rocks my socks. If you take a science, take geology, and if u take geology, take this guy. He understands you just need the credits and aren't gonna major in the wonderful study of rocks so he keeps it nice and easy. Just go to class and it's all blue skies from there.
He's a pretty good teacher. knows that his students aren't geology majors so he makes the material pretty light. I fell asleep in his class though because it's always dark. he give study guides but i found that they aren't the best. either way though, the class is easy and pretty enjoyable.
Great guy. Funny + Smart + Entertaining. If you show up to class you'll do just fine. Curves generously. Don't buy the book - you'll never use it. Highly recommend taking him even (especially) if you're not interested in geology.
Anything you need to know on the test is posted online so book is completely unnecessary. Also gives you "study guides" in class that are 1/3 of the exams questions. Takes random attendance though. Ask him to tell you the story of the girl in his college who tasted all of the rock samples for the test. Take this class for your science requirement!!
Really, really easy guy. Very laid-back. Just go to class because his pop quizzes are based primarily on attendence. Study the study guides thoroughly and take note of all the topics he says will be on the test. Read the textbook to make sure you went over everything. He gives you work sheets that give you a third of the answers on his tests.
he's one of the nicest guys you'll meet. very friendly and helping if you come to him during office hours. even though material is a little boring he tries to make it interesting. read the book a little for his tests too. feigenson rocks my world.
he's the best!
Feigy is the man! You must show up to class for easy pop quizes. Tests are not too bad at all. No homework. Real nice guy + understands we don't all love geology.
YESS TAKE THIS CLASS...EASY A!
A class used for graduation requirement purposes. Easy class. Easy A.
amazing professor! must go to class, he randomly takes attendance. he tells you in class what exactly will be on the exam. 1/3rd of the exam is from the study guide he hands out. i won't say its an easy A because you do have to study.
terrible class, the tests were very unfair and random questions. He skips all over the book and his notes are so confusing to understand. His tests have little tiny details that you would have to read the text to know the answer, like dates. Overall i got a B for working way too hard for this class!
Planet earth class - says attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't show up for the pop quizzes, it's pretty hard to pass with a good grade, so make sure you go to class. Exams are pretty difficult, asks a lot of detailed questions. His study guides do provide you with much of the exam questions, but you still have to do a lot of studying.
This guy is the man. He wants to make sure everyone passes. Funny too, likes to make controversial jokes, always good for a laugh. Highly recommend him.
he definitely wants everyone to pass, and understands the majority of us only take this as a graduation requirement. the book is an absolute waste of money, he will even tell you not to buy it. tests are difficult, but he gives you some of the the test questions in the attendance quizzes.
Great Guy.He knows that nobody cares about geology in this class. He gives you about 20 questions of the test early,so you can get them right without a problem. He then sets it up so if you simply fill out any answer the rest of the exam, you'll get a C.Basically there has to be something wrong with you if you cant pull a C in this class.Easy A too.
ok.. hes very nice and helpful but his exams are very tricky towards the end. He gives you test questions before hand to study...no them there oin the exams!! i studdied really hard and made nasty cheat sheets (ur aloud one each exam), and looked at his study guides online and had a high c/b average, untill the extra credit which gave me an A. Afte
If you suck at science, or just don't care, then TAKE THIS CLASS. Just go to it, he randomally gives quizzes and you get like 95 points for just putting your name on them. In the end the quizzes add up to an exam grade. Tests arent the easiest but you get a cheat sheet and the curve for an A at the end is HUGE. TAKE THIS CLASS.
I didn't like this class, but i got an A. He's a crazy guy that made class almost interesting. Class isn't mandatory, but he gives out random quizzes which are easy if you've been paying attention in class.
The man. Take him. Just go to class and study a day or two before the exams. You can't skip class b/c he gives random quiz, but it's all good b/c he's funny and can teach. HIGHLY recommend.
His three non-cumulative exams are very tricky. My exam grades averaged out to be 79.6 but ended up with A in this class mainly because of the extra credit assignment he gives at the end of the course and the random pop quizzes (making attendance is required) averaged to be another exam grade. Funny guy & really knows his geology stuff.
Nice guy, very funny. Pop quizzes were very easy, but meant mandatory attendance. Lectures are important, exams are pretty difficult and tricky. Ended with a B average because of easy extra credit at end.
i got a b+ in his class and did the bare minimum. dont buy the book, attendance isnt mandatory but he gives random 100pt pop quizzes (gives 85 pts for putting your name on it), allows a full page cheat sheet on each exam (no cumulative final)but the exams aretricky, and gives 20pt extra credit at the end. the material is boring but hes a nice guy
really easy...if you have an avg of 85 but come to each session and do all of the quizes your final grade is going to be an A
easy!!
This class is definitely a good way to fulfill the science requirement for SAS. The 3 exams are tricky, yet the random quizzes and extra credit are helpful in raising one's grade. The textbook is unnecessary because he posts study reviews and power point lectures. Overall, Professor Feigenson is a very good professor.
This class is pretty easy, but you do actually have to study for the exams. The extra credit quizzes help, but you have to go to class. It definitely wasn't as easy as I thought. I studied and got a B
He really cares about all of his students doing well! he gives twenty points extra credit and thats if you show up to class. random quizzes, drops the lowest one, and the average becomes an exam grade and then you got three exams. Just go to every class and you shouldnt get lower then a B. He gives endless number of extra credit opportunities.
Extremely nice professor who gives you so many opportunities for extra credit. There are 3 exams, they're hard so you need to study up. Pop quizzes that start off with a grade of an 85. Make sure you attend class because he randomly does sign-in sheets that are booster points for your grade. No need to buy the book.
Had him for Planet Earth. Really nice professor. There are 3 non-cumulative exams which are all pretty tough. Even though I got D's on the first two exams and a B on the third exam, I wound up with a B+ in the class. The extra credit points from attendance and the pop quizzes REALLY help, so go to class!
3 tests, not cumm. kinda trickybut he lets you use a cheat sheet, first test you can retake if you fail. if you do the extra credit at the end of semester he will give you a C. go to class he gives easy quizzes that you get an 85 for writing your name. go to class do the extra credit and its an solid B
The exams are horrible. But, he gives butt loads of extra credit - go to class get the random extra points and you can get an easy "B" or "A". I got an A and my exam grades were 62, 72, and 82.
Took the online version of Planet Earth. Totally worth it! He's extremely helpful. 2 exams, neither are cumulative. Online hw w/ unlimited tried. 1 paper. not too bad. Curves the exams. Take him!
His class was amazing! Easiest A in college so far. With all the extra credit he gives, its hard not to get an A. He's very passionate about what he teaches and loves to help his students. 3 exams, not cumulative and online homework with unlimited tries that can replace an exam. TAKE HIM!
This guy is the man, this class was so easy and i did not put any effort in and got an A. There is so much extra credit, its not even funny. 3 tests, not cumulative and homework is a piece of cake. If you're going to take Planet Earth take this guy.
If you're going to take Planet Earth, take it online!!!! There are weekly quizzes to complete which are so easy, two exams, and a final paper. The only thing that I stressed about was the paper, which had to be 9 pages, but other than that it was an easy A. Highly recommended.
I'm a little disappointed with the grade I received. I got A's on all of the quizzes and tests, but the paper pulled my grade down, and got an 89.5. Now I'm stuck with a B+ for which I could've gotten an A had there been the slightest curve. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a good guy and a nice teacher, just a bit let down, that's all.
Easy quizzes and online work with unlimited tries. Didn't once pay attention or anything and got a 99 on 1st exam after curve (crammed all night, most people didn't bother). exam isn't exactly easy but give effort one day and you'll be fine, even with an 75 after curve. also final was open note since everyone did horrendous on mid-term lol
I took it hybrid, and it was based on two exams and easy in-class quizzes and online hw. The hw you got unlimited tries and the quizzes were automatically an 85 if you showed up to take it. The exams were a little tricky, but there was a huge curve on them. I never studied for any of it, and wrote a paper that replaced the first exam and got a b+
took the hybrid section. you automatically get an 85 on the in class quizzes. exams were TRICKY. never studied (no one really cares about geology) and hes lenient because of that. easy homework, 10 point extra credit (which we all needed) and a paper that can replace an exam grade. take this for an easy B or B+
Hybrid section. In class quizzes meant required attendance but they were easy. Online hw, easy. Tests were pretty easy if you just studied his notes for a few hrs the day before (i got a 89 and 93)... No one paid attention but i felt bad about it bc he was such a sweet man. Take PE with him!
Online class is not easy!!! Long tests that aren't possible to finish. Online reading quizzes do not provide correct answers to the questions. If you are not interested in geology, do not take it!
I took the online class and it turned out to be a disaster. Weekly readings of at least 50 pages. 2 Quizzes weekly with 10 questions each and postings of selected articles as well as responses to classmates. The midterm exam was the hardest that I have ever taken. 100 questions in 90 minutes- not realistic at all. I do not recommend this class.
There's a lot of homework and "geotours" for his online class, however it's online so you can just Google everything including the exams. You can take each exam twice. Get a friend to take it with you so you can do all the homework and exams together because you get multiple guesses so someone's bound to get it right.
took this class to boost my GPA got an C+ in the class. worst class ever! if your not into earth DONT TAKE IT.
Planet earth online was not bad at all !!! There's some work to it but you can literally find almost everything online. Don't lose silly points from the forum, meet the requirements and get full credit. Just be careful with the homework and quizzes there's a few that aren't online, the geotours are super easy actually.
Took Planet Earth online with Feigenson. As long as you keep up with reading textbook for the online quizzes you will be fine! A few non-textbook related forum and quiz assignments that take a few min. Valuable learning experience especially for non-science majors who suck at science!
This class was taken online to fill a core requirement which made the class. I looked up the answers to everything and got a B+. I was not sure who was grading my forum responses- him or my recitation teacher and either way they were really stringent on the grading. The textbook is not worth buying because 95% of the answers are on Quizlet.
Take planet earth online. If you need an easy science requirement take this class and you will get an A. All answers are on quizlet so you don't need the textbook. It's an easy A and so worth it.
I took Planet Earth online during winter and let me tell you, it was one of the most minimal effort classes I've ever taken. The grades are only based on quizzes and the 2 exams, and there's an optional paper you can write for extra credit. All of the answers are on quizlet, chegg, etc. so you don't need to study anything or buy the textbook.
To be honest I am not sure why there are some negative and "difficult" reviews. Professor Feigenson is super nice and cares about you. The class is super easy, and most, if not all answers and information is online in case you need it. Definitely an easy A in my opinion. It was online. Simple.
If you need an easy NS core class, this is the one to take! Planet Earth was honestly a breeze and everything in the curriculum is actually interesting. You are graded on your exams and quizzes (which can be found online) and forum posts which are not too bad. I ended up with an A and would definitely take it again!
The best course to fulfill the "NS" requirement. Very easy and clear work, minimal amount of time required. If you're looking for an A, look no more than here.
Professor Feigenson's Planet Earth is an easy A. Took it by arrangement and completed my assignments on time and got an A. The course focuses more on Geology and rocks rather than the environment of Earth, so please do not confuse it with intro to env science. Overall, an easy A if you do not procrastinate and complete your weekly assignments.
Prof. Feigenson was great! I am genuinely bad at any science and still managed to get an A. Quizlet helped a lot for this asynchronous class, but it was very manageable. 2-3 reading quizzes a week, 10 questions each, two exams, forum posts, and optional extra credit paper. Do the EC paper! It will pay off in the end. Overall great professor!!
Easy class if you do all the work and follow directions. We had a few short forum posts which were straightforward and easy. All the answers from the assignments could be found in the textbook. Weekly assignments and his quizzes were easy/manageable, but you should definitely prepare for his midterm/final. He also offers an extra credit paper too.
Prof Mark is really good. Do all the online homework and read the reading material he gave, you will get an easy A.
If you want an A in this class, get ready to WORK. There are 2-3 quizzes a week which seem easy: only 10 multiple choice questions (1 try per question) but you need to READ. It is so easy to fail these quizzes & they have the most impact on your grade. He also assigns a 100 question midterm & final & you only have 120 minutes to complete.. so hard.
Professor Feigenson is a true gem of a man. This course was very managed. Not too many assignments. Only two true exams. I would definitely recommend taking him if you have the chance to.
Super easy class, 2 short Smart Work quizzes a week (that you can find on Quizlet ;)), and 3 short discussion posts for the whole semester. I HATE science and this class was perfect for me. Definitely take if you want an easy A
I took Planet Earth over the summer to fulfil my science requirement. The quizzes online, that were taken at the end of each chapter, were easy because most if not all of the answers can be found on quizlet or chegg. The exams, however, are difficult if you don't read the textbook. Although the class is not extremely difficult, it is not an easy A.
I had a wonderful time taking this class with professor Feigenson. He was a very caring/understanding professor and given the difficult nature of this class topic, Feigenson made it every thorough and comprehensible. I highly recommend taking this class to satisfy the NS requirement.
I took this course asynch to satisfy NS requirement. I did have to purchase the textbook online, and another aspect of the textbook to take the quizzes. It took a long time to read the textbook, and it didn't help me with the quizzes. As an asynch class, pretty easy. It's all quizzes, with three exams and maybe 3 discussion posts.
Easy class with hw due every week. You must pay for the textbook for the hw. There is little room for error in each assignment since there are 10 questions each, all with equal points. All assignments are online—no lockdown browser, so you can find almost all the answers you need online.
Super easy exams. 2 or 4 a week all due sunday 10 questions each, exams 100 questions, super easy as well. Free A.
