Tests are easy, but don't ask him for help. You won't reallt get a right answer back. Boring, and always looks high.

Sorry Mark, you are cute, but not encouraging or helpful. We were all so discouraged by the end of the class we wanted to kill ourselves. Don't just repremand and leave us hanging without the "correct" answer.

Bad teaching skills, boring, bad grading system, he isn't THAT clear so it's not worth taking his class.

On the first day of class he said, "I hope everyone drops. I'll still get paid."

instead of making math fun he makes it uninteresting because he espects everyone to know what he knows.

he is very depressed u could tell it from his eyes. he never makes eye contact with students b/c he is too shy. he knows alot but he can't teach it too students b/c of leack of selfconfidence.

Nice guy, shares good stories...HORRIBLE TEACHER.A day in his class consists of him going over 2 hw probs for 40 mins, talking about texas for 15 mins, then going over the material for 5 mins b4 he runs out of time and wishes us gl on the test. He really needs to be reviewed by the admins at smc.I dont know how he can be even considered a professor

He is one of nice prof in SMC also his personality is really cool, but that's it. I definitely think he is not helpful for mathmatics at all. His doing likes a Zombie also he is very lazy person. If you don't want to go school many times, I strongly suggest to take his class.

Worst teacher ever in my life. Spending too much time on unimportant stuff and very disorganized. Unfair grading. He seems a nice guy but when it comes to teaching, quiz, exam, he is just horrible. Questions are not hard, but he doesn't teach at all. Take him if u expect to spend 10 hours a day for math.

WORST PROFESSOR AT MY 2 YEARS AT SMC. WARNING- EXTREMELY NOT NICE. i went to him after class for a simple question abt my grade he pointed at a piece of paper outside said "office hours" which were the next day) and slammed the door on my face. everyone in class hates him. when hes teaching he doesnt face the class faces the board.has bad attitude

This guy doesn't know what he is doing. When he lectures, I can't understand where he's getting at. Whoa!!! Take someone else who is more alert during class time.

Very disorganized, unfair, and rude.

He is a really bad professor. I had to use the book and the web to understand all the information in class, because the professor did not explain anything. He subtracts 9 from 25 and gets 20. If you ask him to explain a problem, he can't do it, becuase he doesn't know math. We started with 40 people, ended with 12.

I have learned nothing from his class. All his lectures are copied from the textbook without simplify things. He thinks that it's students' responsibity to study on their own. All he did is showing how to do the question that you asked or got stuck with sometimes you got the answer and sometimes you did not. In conclusion, he can't teach.

late for almost every class, has a very dry sense of humor and he thinks he's hilarious. not prepared, doesnt know how to teach at all. tests come in a big package...almost like he didnt make them. Very old fashioned. AVOID HIM!

His own jokes throw him off, he forgets his points, explains something for minutes just to say "hold on that was for something else", not prepared, all over the place therefore very difficult to keep up with, therefore class notes do not make sense at all!!!

Please don't take him. engineering major and currently failing his class. he only grades based on test and quizzes, he never says when he will do quizzes. His lectures are copied from the book, and test are nothing like lectures. he unpacks quizzes n tests like he buys them. takes the whole class working in 3 problems. you have to study by ur own

Very hard to understand. He explains like we already know. must have a Ti-83 or 84 calculator and book. test are different from what he teaches. he is a cool person but not a good teacher, i stop showing after the second test, i studied lol

I don't believe what those people said in the rate-my-professor ,but now I need to say what they said are true !!! If you look at the grade book and say he not that hard then I am telling you you are wrong!He change a lot. And he is super lazy, I don't think he grade the quiz.test are nothing like lectures!Take him and get fail!

He is possibly THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! He talks to himself the whole lecture while writing on his little computer template that no one can see. He can careless whether you understand the material or not. His exams and ridiculously hard. His class was a NIGHTMARE. Avoid him at all costs.

he is monotone and i did not understand him half the time, you wont feel comfortable asking him questions. His tests are much harder then the homework. I had to teach myself from the book and go on youtbe to understand material. I dropped his class and more than half the class dropped it. dont take him if ur a visual learner!

He's suck!!!! The worsest teacher in SMC. More than 50 students in the beginning of the semester, less than 15 people take the final!!!

HORRIBLE. Math is my favorite subject and i always am an A/B student in math and i had a fail in his class right from the beginning. His notes are impossible to read and i ended up dropping the class a few weeks into it. Only class i ever dropped!

I recommend avoiding this professor if possible.

Avoid at all costs. He will go off on tangents all class, leaving you confused as to what you were trying to learn in the first place. I only learned though out of class study groups. Also, we were promised our final grades a week ago, still waiting.

By far the worst teacher I've had at SMC

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. His lectures are super boring since he talks in monotone. He is also not clear when explaining materials to the class. Although he reduced the amount of homework later in the semester, I had to do RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK online which did not help me with the test since he doesn't write the homework problems.

Do not take this teacher may be easy a but has no respect for students plus he is boring. I always ditched the class. Not worth your time or money. Run for your lives.

This teacher is so bad! He actually told the whole class to not ask questions regarding the math and every time someone did he made a fool of the student in front of the whole class. He expects you to get EVERYTHING and doesn't explain properly. I am actually afraid of asking questions in class because he will get angry and think I'm stupid

Foster takes points off if you do not show work on test based on how he has "taught" you. he does not know how to teach, and thinks he is funny. gives a ridiculous amount of homework, and does not care that you have other classes. class material is basic, i know the easy methods of solving problems, he teaches you the long and complicated way.

Professor Foster utilizes the text book for every aspect of the class. I took the hybrid online/in class section and basically the whole class consists of teaching yourself how to do everything and then taking tests in class. He does not provide study guides for the exams, and basically advises to look up YouTube videos and read the text for help.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. His lectures are boring. He does not explain concepts very well. You will end up teaching yourself the entire semester.

Just be prepared to teach yourself. He writes his own test and not multiple choice

Do not fall for the Math54 "hybrid" class. Basically meet once a month ONLY for exams. His office hours are too early in the morning. Know a lot of people who ended up dropping his class. Don't make the mistake of taking this professor if math isn't your best strong suit. You'll get no help here.

condescending, rude, and grades WAY TOO HARD. he asks questions on tests that are not gone over. makes students feel stupid for asking questions. do not take him.

His class is mainly lecture and little to no activities to understand the subject. For most of the course I had to teach myself each textbook chapter and get extra tutoring. He ONLY uses the textbook for teaching and nothing else. Lectures are just him reading the textbook chapter to you in class.

Professor Foster classes are just lectures which he can barely give over clearly. Be prepared to teach this entire class to yourself! He gives 3 tests and a final and homework is online and has nothing to do with his lectures. Be prepared to work hard in order to pass....

If long-term deadlines don't work for you, don't take this hybrid course. Additionally, people here are not kidding when they say that you teach this course 100% to yourself. All dry textbook readings. Exams make up pretty much 90% of the grade. Math is not my strong suit but I tried this class anyway. Take the L and do a regular math class.

He was awful! He was rude to students (even mocking ones accent.) If you ask a question he just sighs and points to board like that will explain. He doesnt tell you the test day, just the week. Super boring or just gets distracted and talks about pointless things. I regret taking this class so much

Professor Foster is the worst, he doesn't teach at all he just lectures and assign hw with no deadline. His tests are nothing like lectures or hw. He doesn't use canvas to keep grades updated. and isn't willing to go to the extra mile to help students. I had a Tutour and still didn't do well on his tests. so get ready to teach yourself everything.

This teacher was just awful.. if you didnt understand something he would sigh and just reiterate what he just said then move on whether you understood or not

This guy shouldn't be a professor. He doesn't like to answer questions during his lectures and doesn't even have a class schedule on top of that. I mainly had to learn through tutoring and self-teaching myself through this course. His tests are nothing like what he goes over. I would highly recommend you take another professor when taking Math 20.

took one class and left halfway through...NOT a safe space for LGBTQ+. he actively discusses his disdain for the community and specifically trans ppl. first day of class in the first 10 min it came up. the whole half i was there was him reading the textbook to the class and using homophobic examples to explain concepts. take ANYONE else

DO NOT TAKE THE HYBRID CLASS. all work on your own he's just there to watch u take the test. All that counts is the tests and final. home work and quzzies are together less than 10% of the grade.

This might have been the worst professor I have ever had. I took this class as a requirement and thought it was gonna be ok, not until 2 weeks in I realize this is the worst. The only grades in the class is exams and theres no homework. He tells you to do practice but nothing is graded. The exams are long as well as lectures. Don't take him.

Mr Foster is a good guy don't get me wrong but is a very outdated teacher. His back is turned to the class for 30 minutes at a time just writing problems and talking, no one is paying attention, He can be funny when he talks about gambling in Vegas but other than that it's a snooze fest. we started with 23 students we have 10 now.

Do not take this professor. The class primarily consisted of him reading directly from the textbook, with little to no teaching. He didn't answer questions, respond to emails, or have office hours. He made sexist remarks and seemed disinterested in teaching or being present. Despite being an in-person class, you'll end up teaching yourself.

Do not take any of his classes. He does not teach and you're only graded by tests.
