Very knowledgable about subject matter. Can explain material in a variety of ways until you get what he's saying. He's very interesting and is pretty funny.
A great professor, you need not buy the book; however, you need to be sure to get all notes. He gives several extra credits that are no brainers. Attended class is not a huge priority of his, but he does a great lector
Great teacher!
very good prof, really easy---study lecture notes, the review he gives you for every test, and you'll make a good grade! he gives out alot of extra credit chances too! take him for this class!
Great professor for macroeconomics. Tests are extremely lecture-centric, so don't buy a book unless you still have it from the last ECO class. Be prepared to answer "current events" questions, like "what was last quarter's unemployment?", that kind of stuff.
I loved Dr. Frank! He can be very eccentric at times, but he is an awesome professor! Tests were almost identical to the reviews. Does not take attendance but his lectures were worth coming for if you like economics!
Good prof! Gives a good lecture. No test but long articles to summarize & critique. May seem easy but not really. Some articles are hard to interpret. Working in groups helps. Take notes for homework assignments. Grades harder on articles as the semester progresses. For class participation, he wants critical reviews on articles not just discussion.
He's pretty cool and helpful, I believe he is one of the better instructors at the school
Dr. Frank is an awesome teacher. Very helpful and clear. Take this eco. Not hard just do the homework and you will pass.
Okay prof, writes everything out on the board. Copy exactly what he writes and you'll do alright on the test. Don't need book.
Good teacher, study the reviews. If you understand them, you'll do great on the test. He's entertaining too. Oh, and do the homework! It helps alot. Take great notes, you'll need them for the end of semester puzzle assignment. It rose my C to a B. Dont get the book, unless you plan on not coming to class. I didn't use it at all.
I LOVE DR. FRANK! He is the greatest professor ever! He was willing to help both in and out of class. Go to class and take notes and you will do fine. Dr. Frank made me want to change my major to economics...really a great prof!
Great Professor - you get out of class early - lectures on application not the text. No need to buy text he doesnt use it - he states this first day of class, but there is a novel to read - but it wasnt that bad - Easy A!
His class was fun, but his tests were on the hard side.
Dr. Frank is an amazing prof. He has a genuine interest in his students and makes economics very fun with references to college life. Go to class, take the notes, and its no problem. Very clear about what he expects you to learn and know for the exams. LOTS of extra credit.
Best teacher EVER!!! i wish he taught EVERY subject.. he reminds me of Jack off of Will & Grace. he gives plenty of extra credit and drops lowest test grade... I made an A, and I'm not even majoring in anyhing TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!
Wonderful professor... it's very hard to take night classes during the summer, you go two nights a week from 6-10 and let's just say that it gets very tiring. He made this class extremely entertaining and useful - I learned a lot and paid attention to everything he was saying the entire time. Absolutely great professor.
Best professor ever! Wish he taught every subject! Class is fun & easy! Tests are not hard & he gives you the options for the 40 point essay on each exam. Gives lots of extra credit from games in class!
EXCELLENT Professor! Entertaining and funny. Class is easy. Tests are easy as long as you attend class and listen carefully. Take good notes. Gives extra credit. TAKE THIS CLASS!
His class is great! COPY EVERYTHING HE WRITES DOWN ON THE BOARD! notes will be on the test. Memorize them and you should do fine. Has 4 possible essay questions that you know before the test, then on test day, he randomly picks one using playing cards. Test has only about a total combination of 20 either MC or Short Answer.Must read 3 books with Qs
Very helpful and very clear on what you write down. I took him for a summer class at the University Center and enjoyed the class. We had two hw worth 40% and 2 exams worth 60%. You must study hard for the exams because he will test you on everything he went over in class. He makes the class entertaining, kind of hateful towards females though
Dr. Frank is amazing! He makes economics very fun with references to college life. Go to class, take the notes, and you'll do fine. Plus, he gives lots of extra credit.
Very helpful and energetic. Knows the material and is very thorough. He assigns a lot of reading but it is not boring reading. A lot of class interaction. I am taking another class of his in the fall!
Really nice guy. You dont need the textbook if you go to class. Everything he writes on the board is on the exam. Before each exam he gives you last years test. He also offer a lot of extra credit. If you go to class and study before the test, you will make an A
This professor is the best one around! He covers everything on the exams during his lectures. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! All you have to do is write down the notes from class and study them. TONS of extra credit too! Fabulous teacher!
Took him online. 5 tests, no other grades. They are multiple choice. He has video lectures and reviews. I made a B by listening to the lectures and reading the book.
I took him in the summer and I loved the class. He is an amazing professor and makes economics pretty clear; however, be prepared to work extremely hard.
Excellent professor. Write down all his notes. You don't need the book. Do the homework and go to class. He has online reviews that he holds which are useful. Highly recommended
I took his online Economics class and the difficulty level is pretty absurd. The lessons make little to no sense and the exams are extremely difficult to prepare for. Don't take this guy unless you already understand Econ, he certainly won't make it easy for you. Also the only grades are exams, so not much room to breath or learn. Avoid!
At Econ 3344 you must be an idiot to complain. First he drops one exam, second gives extra credit, third you almost don't have to learn in the class, just show up ( you don't wanna miss the notes and the extra credit). Take the notes and then read the articles based on his notes, memorize figures and graphs on the articles, you'll have those in exa
Don't buy the book. Took him online and he was very clear on each subject. However, I don't think he makes the test because they weren't like the lessons or the reviews.
This is a real college course. No lecture based PowerPoints, what he writes on the board is on the test. Make sure you study EVERYTHING he says, his tests are very, very detailed oriented. Be prepared to work hard, but you actually learn, and enjoy his class. Very nice guy overall, would highly recommend.
He is a great professor. He is very thorough and knows his stuff. You hvae to come to class to pass because his notes are stickly written on the board and he gives spontaneous extra credit but you have to be in class to get it. His tests are soley based on your class notes. he does give a review for every test. Tests are easy but detailed.
His class is easy as long as you put forth the effort to succeed, which is what he said on the first day of class. No PP, no textbook, everything comes from what he writes on the board. Study your notes and handouts, know them forward and backwards because his tests are VERY detailed oriented. His class is difficult, but definitely not impossible.
Seriously LOVED him! He's so clear on every subject. WRITE EVERYTHING HE WRITES ON THE BOARD! Keep your notes organized day by day and study them thoroughly for the exams. Even the handouts!! Wish I could take him for intermediate eco. The only reason people think his class is hard is because they don't go to class, or don't study their notes.
I really enjoyed this class. He writes everything down on the board. If you study the lecture notes and the study guide youll make an A on the test. He doesnt use the book. We had 5 tests(including the final which was cummulative). I would love to take him again.
Professor Frank is a very nice and enthusiastic guy. However, he is NOT very clear when he is teaching. His tests are the hardest tests I have ever taken in my LIFE. If you are an economics major take him, if not I would advise you either work very very very hard and get tutoring OR just do not take him. no slacking! Lots of extra credit tho.
His section seemed easy but when it came to the test it was difficult compared to the lectures.
He gives multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the year. Also gives a review before every test. And all the information comes straight from lecture! Don't buy the book, I did and didn't open it one time the entire semester.
A truly remarkable teacher. He is extremely organized. Lectures are informative and interesting. He simply lectures and writes on the board, yet he captures your attention. If he writes something on the board, write it down! Tests are from board and hand-outs, and are tricky. I loved this class and would certainly take him for any class.
Dr. Frank is a good prof. Though his lectures are clear and concise, I occasionally had trouble maintaining interest - maybe because it is a low level course. Also, do the test reviews (its why I made a C and not a B). Tests are directly from lectures.
Frank is a FANTASTIC professor. His lectures are so interesting and he really engages the class. We had 5 exams, including a cumulative final. We had homework from 2 books, in which you had to search for the answers that were not in order and it was tough. He gives lots of extra credit. I would take him again.
I took him for macro and he is a good teacher. He gets really into his lectures and he is kind of funny. He gives tons of bonus and he gives handouts that will be on the test. Study guides are sample questions he makes up. Write down everything he puts on the board and if you study the notes and handouts you'll do fine. I got an A. Good luck!
Dr. Frank is a nice man. His test are pretty tough. His lectures can sometimes be confusing. I wouldn't recommend skipping his class. He does offer extra credit but for the work you have to put into it, the small extra credit points don't seem worth it. I wouldn't take him again.
4 tests & 1 final, no quizzes or homework. His lectures are long and boring, but make sure you write everything down because they will be on the tests. Do not expect easy tests, you have to understand the material completely to get As. The good thing is he gives extra points through easy assignments. I will take this professor again for Micro.
Dr. Frank is a nice guy & His lectures are interesting. I definitely learned in his class but his test are some of the hardest I have ever taken. WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN THAT HE WRITES ON THE BOARD. I have a problem with what he did on the Final Exam. It had 40 questions and he messed up on 3 questions so instead of me getting a 75 I got a 73.
Didn't buy the book, Dr. Frank goes over everything you need in class. Literally write down all the lecture notes he writes on the board because it will all be on the tests.
Professor Frank was GREAT! His lectures were interesting and entertaining which is extremely important because everything on his tests come from his lectures. If you come to class, write everything down, and study you notes before the tests you should have an easy A. The only downside of Prof Franks class to me is that the final is comprehensive.
Great professor! All the test questions come straight from his lectures so make sure to take good notes. He also gives you a test review. The tests are easy if you study. He also gives extra credit.
If you show up for class and take good notes, you will do great. This was my favorite class ever. Dr. Frank's humor is perfectly sarcastic and his organization skills are godlike. He expects a lot of students. He shares relevant news to keep us engaged. I never wanted to miss his class because I enjoyed his lectures so much. Take this course!!
Tough class. He has a hard time taking it slow. Sometimes he gets so a head of himself that he he has to work backwards to catch you up. He answers everyone's question but tends to talk to only certain students while instructing so it can be awkward to ask something. I really think I learned very little compared to what I knew before this class.
Dr. Frank is a good professor. This class should be fairly easy if you study. He gives out reviews before every test. If you do the reviews you will do fine on the exam. He also gives a lot of extra credit, so go to class!
Dr. Frank is a great teacher and he lectures so you understand. The class was in game theory, so was very interesting and never boring. Great choice for economics credit. Class activities are fun. Tests can be tough, but he gives you the options for essay portion and one is randomly chosen the day of exam. Funny guy.
Gives tests strictly off of lecture. Gives plenty of chances to get extra credit. He is a great professor and cares about his students.
I took him for Macroeconomics, he explains the material very well! He would go the extra mile so you see the big picture. He explains the material the way I want it explained to me. I would take him again. Note: I dont know his orientation, but he fits your typical white gay guy stereotype. It doesnt bother me, but might bother others. Great prof!
This professor is awful! He rambles for an hour, bouncing around from subject to subject, his examples are confusing, and his lectures are boring.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. would 100% take him again, if you get the chance to do. his lectures are exactly on the test and he also does a lot of extra credit.
He is kinda boring TBH. He gives lots of extra credit so go to class and participate. He gives out review which is similar to the test.
Take him!! His lectures are based off the exam, gives ALOT of extra credit and gives out test reviews that actually do help for the exams. Theres no way you can not get an A in his class.
Frank was a good prof. Wasn't fond of him at first, but over time I learned his teaching style. This class isn't an easy A for most people. Just be prepared to write down everything he writes on the board. Learn your notes and you will pass your tests with flying colors. 5 tests including the final. No papers and no homework. Tons of extra credit.
This is a hard class if you do not pay attention. Be prepared to write everything he writes down on the board in your notes. He also draws pictures that will be on the test. He gave 5 tests and some extra credit. No daily grades.
He talks kinda fast but writes everything on the board. Copy exactly whats on the board and study that material. Study what the graph is too. He gives reviews which help but arent always exact questions just questions that pertain to the subjects on the test. Give a lot of extra credit which helps. I wouldnt get the book, I didnt use it.
Great professor, writes everything on the board. Everything that he says in class is game for the exam. Gives extra credit often. Bought the book online and never used it. Come to class and you will be fine.
I went to his office hours, went to the tutor, went to peers for help, did the study guides and still failed. He was no help at all. There are no other grades but exams so I definitley do not recommend it.
love love love this teacher, great lecturer- but i found that if you aren't understanding course material, taking notes before class and then following along with what hes saying & adding in notes from the lecture helps a lot. There's tutoring avail. but i never needed it with this teacher.
Let me tell you the trick to passing his class, show up, take notes on everything he writes on the board. The tests are all multiple choice, he gives you a review to study on. If you only study the review, you will FAIL. Study all the notes, graphs and formulas. Lots of extra credit! PLEASE DO ALL OF THEM. The final was cumulative, 40 questions.
Write everything off the board into your notes! Definitely do some studying outside of class and read the text. He does not require it but if you are like me you will just as lost. Ended dropping the course bc I failed the first two exams. Lack of specification.
Very inconsiderate. Taking him this Spring 2020, think I'll end up with a C or less. Used to have bonus assignments in class, but when everything went online due to covid, he refused giving bonus assignments when asked, to save our grades; 20mins for 20 questions w/graphs. Ignores emails, doesn't care what students going thru. Set us for failure!
His test are weekly, youll watch videos each week then apply the knowledge to the test. There usually isnt many videos to watch. If you do the work his class is a easy pass.
Really easy class. No homework, weekly quizzes, and two exams. He uploaded his lectures at the beginning of every week, and had an optional zoom meeting once a week where you could ask questions. Each exam has an optional bonus practice exam that you can take for extra credit.
11 quizzes and 2 tests on a lockdown browser. The class is super interesting and the lecture videos are short and interesting to watch. You only need to study the notes a little before each quiz and study the quizzes for the test. Overall a great class!
He is a great professor who makes economics easy to understand. He gives practice quizzes and test that are almost exactly like the real test. 1 quiz a week 2 exams all lockdown and due before 5pm thats the most annoying thing.
Very easy class even if you are not great in economics. He drops 3 lowest quizzes and replaces 2 with the highest grade u made on past quizzes. i believe there are a total of 12. only 2 exams and he gives practice questions for quizzes along with bonus points for exams. I def recommend this professor.
I absolutely loved taking Professor Frank this semester! His lectures are super interesting and this ended up being my favorite class I took this semester. No homework but there are weekly quizzes, however, he has practice questions for each that are very similar to the quiz. Drops your 3 lowest quiz scores. I highly recommend taking him!
Professor Frank was awesome! Super easy lectures to follow, 13 quiz's 10 questions each due Friday by 11:59pm(all are proctored) 3 lowest quiz grades are dropped. 1 midterm and 1 final exam. For the mid-term you are given a practice midterm (open note, 40 questions) each question you get right is 0.5 points added to exam grade! Take this class!!
I took this class online and there was only one quiz (10 questions) due every Friday and two exams. No homework at all and he explains the material really well in his lecture videos. He also posts practice questions for each of the quizzes so you can get an idea of what's going to be on the quiz. I would definitely recommend!
Worst professor ever!. My whole online class was struggling, the quizzes are the only form of hw you can only take once. The videos he post are very outdated, when asking for help or clarification he reviews to the book. 2 students asked for help separately in email and he emailed them both the same response saying he wont and refer to the book.
I love Dr. Frank. He was the absolute best. This class only had 3 exams, no homework, and each exam has 2 written essay, but it's not hard to do at all. You don't even have to be good at tests to past these, you just have to pay attention to lecture. I would 100% recommend Dr.Frank to everybody. Absolutely the best professor I've ever had.
This class is very easy and the lectures are very straightforward. My only complaint is that his syllabus is not entirely accurate.
Took this class as an elective for my MBA... Very tough class/professor. 5-7 hours worth of lectures/reading, but only gives exams that are 17 questions and worth 100 points. It means that if you miss one or two problems, you are already at a 80%. Will put 1-2 questions on the exam that you have never seen before.
So here's the thing. His online lectures are extremely boring and he tends to not give all of the correct information. You can take his practice quizzes all you want and they will be nothing like the actual quiz. The whole class is simply quizzes, some bonus assignments, and two exams. Worst part is lockdown browser with a camera for everything.
I don't understand how people are having a stroke about the online course in the other reviews. It's 20-45 minutes of videos PER WEEK, that's nothing, everything on the tests and quizzes come from them. It's super easy just don't be a bum and watch the videos.
One of the best professors I have had at SHSU! Lectures are split up well, weekly quizzes help prepare you for the tests. Offers extra credit too, as long as you watch his lectures you will pass.
Just quizzes, a midterm, and a final. There is extra credit! Study/memorize the quizzes and study guides and you will be fine.
took his 2301 class, it was fairly easy but 2302 is a absolute no for me, 3 quizes every week monday, wednesday, friday. all of them is Respondus LockDown Browser with camera on. even the sylabbus is lockdown. no open notes, or anything, you can use calculator but you have to show the pages on graphic calculator first. its not too late to drop!!!
The lectures were entertaining, but I had difficulty reaching him via email. I sent a couple of messages, but he was not accessible outside of class. It can be quite challenging when encountering a problem. He mentioned that he is available via email, but I haven't received a response. The class is okay, but there is definitely room for improvement.
I really enjoyed Professor Frank's class!! There are quizzes and extra credit due Sunday every week, as well as a midterm and final exam. The textbook didn't relate to what we were learning in class, so it's totally optional. All the material for quizzes/exams are in lecture, so you HAVE to show up, pay attention, and take notes. Fun lectures!!
Class was just 3 tests no extra work, lockdown browser.... If you do bad on one test you can really make up for it. Would only take if youre a good test taker.
no handouts or study guides aside from the introduction slide of each lecture PowerPoint, which means absolutely nothing to look over and relearn. quizzes are proctored with camera/audio recording, you aren't allowed to use notes and once a submission is in you cannot retake it for practice. even extra credit is proctored or graded unusually.
Yeah, I am not sure what the previous person was talking about in their review. This is the easiest online course you will ever take, and Dr. Frank's lectures were very detailed. I could have slept through the quizzes, and he gave a plethora of extra credit.
Ignore the people below me with bad review for 2302. If you can't make a A/high B in this class, you are either very lazy or do not belong in college. This class is super easy. Extra credit worth an entire letter grade. Test are identical to the quizzes and the review sheet, just with different numbers. Quizzes are kinda tough, so study before.
Dr Frank has been my teacher for a full year, fall 24 and spring 25. I love taking his courses, both of mine were online, but he made everything so organized that it was clear to read. He always responds to emails and double-check quizzes because he tends to make some mistakes, You have 12 quizzes and 2 exams, do the bonuses it will help your grade
Mark Frank is a good professor and nice dude. Make sure you go to his lectures or you will be very lost. He doesn't record them and does EVERYTHING in class. He is pretty easy to follow and his lectures are interesting for the most part. There is one proctored quiz every Friday (not as bad as it sounds I promise) and two tests.
Took him for a study abroad trip. Very easy class, great dude to be around, and just overall a great experience. My only small gripe is that he sometimes overexplains/complicates fairly easy to comprehend material. Still, highly recommend taking him.
13 assignments, 2 exams for entire class. Hard to make up a rough grade on one. Extremely good professor, makes lots of videos and works out problems to help with studying the material. Tough class, but a good professor that tries to make it easy for you. Few extra credit opportunities (so far). Lockdown Browser w webcam used for all assignments.
