Good programmer, really cares and wants his students to do well. He is always available even around midnight on the night before a test. Only take his class if you already have a decent grip on the material.
He doesn't care if you get a hold on the material or not. He fails to explain everything in "layman's" terms so you don't understand half of it. It's also hard to understand what he's trying to say sometimes cause he has a stutter.
this guy sucks as a teacher, he basically doesn't care whether you get the material or not...

Very good programmer, has a sence of humor and gives easy tests. Always available
An easy teacher, but he's so annoying and a dread to look at. He stutters a bit, but the material is pretty easy. Projects are easy and tests aren't too bad if you know your stuff.
It was my worst class ever. I hated his class and thought he sucked. He does not care if you understand or not.
Pretty interesting assignments. Tests arent bad. Very helpful when you need him.
Take him for programming courses, he practically does your assignments if you go see him and tests/projects are fairly easy. I would suggest you have a little programming knowledge before you take the class though. I took VB and ASP, got 3.7 in both.
This guy is good if you are good with computers/programming. He is strange in that he is almost always on AIM even at weird times like 2 in the morning. I reccomend the class the assignments are pretty easy.
Kind of a strange guy. He's really into using technology in every aspect possible. Likes the power of being a teacher. Assignments range from average to difficult. Is definetly always availible for help, be it on AIM (at 3 AM) or in his office. I would reccomend.
He is a bit of a ****. He doesn't think girls are as smart of all the guys. Wasn't a terrible teacher, but I really dislike him. He was helpful but let you thinking you were dumb. Things were easy and the workload wasn't that bad. Neither were the tests.
If you are good with computers, TAKE this 101. It's actually EASIER than the regular 101s because you have so little work to do, but he teaches a lot in class - you learn Visual Basic.Net, HTML, a little JavaScript. All in all a pretty good class, if you want to learn.

I highly recommend the course if you would rather learn by doing than reading, as there is virtually no outside reading to do. All of your assignments are based off of what you do in class, and the Pocket PCs are a better investment than any IT book. Frydenberg is strange, but he's a nice fellow.
Nice guy but goes a little fast at time. Not too much hw other than projects. Tests are okay if you study a bit the night before. No outside reading but class is a must. Helpful outside of class but kind of dorky. Nice guy, funny. Overall, I recommend.
The class is OK, he lets you use notes during tests. Sometimes the assignments are hard and time consuming, but overall a good class if you know stuff about computers already. Avoid if you don't I.E. dont take it just for the pocket PC.
The class is interesting and helpful. There is 3 weeks of no homework then there is one week of intense stress and then there is 3 weeks of no homework and then one week on intense stress and so on.
Frydenberg is the man. If you go to class and pay atention it's an automatic 4.0. the Projects are fairly easy and in the advanced clas there is less work then the regular class. He never checks homework and always lets students use notes on exams. He is always online (even at 3 am) and willing to help with any of the assignments.
You need to give Frydenberg credit for wearing the sync cables around his neck and giving us free (though sometimes useless) Microsoft products. He's obviously really into the subject matter. He's available all the time, in the office, on aim, or wherever. Compared to what I hear, the extensive session is easier than the regular session.
Really qwirky quy. His teaching style is very hands on. I didn't put much work into the class, and I'm expecting a 3.7 or 4.0. Some of the other kids in the class did alot more work and did worse. I would take his class for sure.
He's just a big geek and needs to pull his pants down a bit. Other than that, he's pretty easy. Sometimes he assigns long, daunting assignments that require more time than you have available in a normal day. Pray that your equipment doesn't break because he has little sympathy for those unfortunate ones with shotty Pocket PC's.
it was chill
talks really fast and waits for no one, but knows what he's doing and is pretty willing to help you. but the x class is a waste - we didn't use it as much as i thought. and he expects you do to large assignments fairly quickly.
Good Professor. Too many assignments at one time. Gets confusing... Easy tests and homeworks.
Frydenberg is awesome! Sometimes he goes way too fast in class but if you ask him for help he will help you. Easily accessible outside of class. Easy grader. Plays favorites but likes everyone. He gives tons of tips and ways of doing things that you will remember forever. I highly recommend him. He's nice and knows a lot about what he does.
This man is boring and frustrating. He assignments multiple things at the same time and doesn't explain why he gives the grades he does.
Good easy class. Plays favorites. He has AIM also, and he is on at like 5 in the morning sometimes. Doesn't really know as much as it seems that he does. I would avoid his office hours because he makes it hard and awkward to leave.
This class was an EASY A. Paying attention in class isnt entirely necessary, and he's very leanient about due dates. The pocket PC is kind of a waste of money. I barely used it.
Really nice guy, and really easy class. He does have a tendency to assign too many things at once, but he's so lenient about due dates and grading that it doesn't matter.
I am not sure which is worse, his communication skills or programming skills. Oh yeah, he talks about random stuff the entire time during exams.
He is the worst teacher ever!...if you don't completely understand computers DO NOT take this class. He goes fast, doesn't help you at all...and when you come to him for help he doesnt comprehend that you don't understand things. He is a miserable, annoying geek.
i rarely show up in his class and when i do, all i ever do is play games online. his doesnt really teach but rather talk in technical terms that no one seems to understand. this is a stupid class. dont take him if u can avoid it!!!
Yo this teacher sucks. he dumps so much work on us for no reason. His test was for us to analyze an excel sheet, conditioanlly format it, graph it, used formulas, then create webpages, upload everythng, answer some questions all in 75 minutes. Unbelievable
I did not like this class. He's probably a great guy outside of class and he's very enthusiastic about IT but he goes way too fast and talks about stuff that we don't care about. If you have him, good luck, and eventually you'll be done with it.
If you aren't REALLY good with computers/internet things, or don't want to work literally 6-8 hours a week do not take this class.
He's not a bad guy, very lenient as far as deadlines go, and talks very shortly which can almost be amusing at times. But gives a lot of random assignments which aren't very clearly assigned or referenced. Good guy, lots of work, unclear class, and if you're good with computers you'll do fine. He is pretty accessible outside of class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! he gives the most pointless assignments for stuff we will never need to know and he grades them ridiculously hard. He spends like 2 classes on excel (the only important stuff in the class) and the rest making these stupid collages for this dumb website. Honestly, this class was a waste of my time.
Okay. I am not the best at computers at all and did well. You have to put in the work for this class or you will do bad. Alot of projects but they are really helpful. Alot of IT majors don't work with the programs I did,so very useful. Class can be boring so put your aim on silent. Easy grader and a nice guy. Will offer help if requested. Recommend
I took the technology intensive IT course (IT101x) Interesting class. Teaches a lot of cool stuff about the internet and whatnot. Not hard at all, but there are a lot of projects and a decent amount of homework. No homework is hard though, just somewhat time consuming. I recommend this class.
I took the technology intensive, but it really wasn't hard at all. If you know even a little bit about computers take the intensive because you'll learn more and still get a 4.0.
His class specializes in Web 2.0 and the downloading/use of worthless applications. However, he does communicate fairly well, and is more than willing to meet with and help students.
Loved this class, pretty easy even for the technology intensive version. He's always accessible via twitter, aim, email whatever even at 2am when you're getting his assignment done last minute. Utilizes technology to its potential and makes the class enjoyable. Can be slightly boring at times, but all in all a great class and a great professor.
Honestly I had no idea what was going on in this class and I still got an A. He's pretty easy and loves Web 2.0 and other random computer applications. He's always online and helpful but confusing at times. Just do the work and you're all set.
Prob best of IT teachers. Most of the class is spent downloading and using web 2.0 programs. You can sit in class and play poker or w/e and still get a 4.0 if your not retarded with comps. If you don't get some of the stuff he is very helpful in his office hours. I would recommend him and the course, x really isn't that hard
VERY nice (neeerdy) guy. I bet got picked on a lot in school. Highly recommend dropping by for office hours. The IT101x course is actually easier than 101. He spends most of class time showing us his favorite websites. You'll probably need to teach yourself a lot, but it's all easy material. EASY 4.0. Great for a break in the middle of the day.
Good teacher and is fair with grades..if you know anything about web 2.0, excel or html codes then ur guarenteed a 3.7 or higher..cool guy overall for an IT teacher
His CS299 class(Web 2.0) is very interesting. But, he's very vague at explaining what he wants. He's super intimidating and can make you feel like**** in less than 50 seconds. You never know what/how to study for this class (esp. midterm/final). He thinks he's God when it comes to the internet. Don't try to go against his opinion. Be careful.
Take this class if you can bare with his grumpy attitude. He's ****, bored, and boring to hear. I don't think he can survive without the internet. Very vague..Intimidating..I would take this class if someone else was teaching it. Sadly, he's the only one. Hence, the attitude.
Really, this guy isn't bad at all. Its an exploratory course into new web applications. Just show some enthusiasm for facebook and twitter and talk to him about cool Web 2.0 sites/concepts you heard about. He'll love it and will make the class more interesting. Yes, he's awkward, but don't take that as intimidating. Overall, good guy, easy grade.
This professor was awesome, you just had to get his humor. Ya he's vague sometimes but its the internet..there's a solution to everything out there for any question he asks and as long as you participate and show enthusiasm he let us change around certain assignments etc. I highly recommend
Great guy, if you are remotely computer literate before this class, you can pass it with just about no effort. He spends much of class showing you his favorite web sites and teaching random stuff. For the most part, you are left to figure out the excel assignments (which aren't hard). Definitely take him, he is a great prof.
A pretty good professor. He is very passionate about what he teaches and it comes accross during class. You'll work relatively hard, but he is very fair with his grading. Take him
Most of the grades are things done out of class, and it's pretty easy. Excel isn't hard to pick up, and that's what the class mostly consists of. We also made gamesapps which was pretty fun (not hard, don't worry). I did hate a project where we had to work with Romanians, but I guess we had WAY more time than we needed to do it so I can't complain
I'm already a tech nerd, so Frydenberg was like the brother of my soul. He's great; makes weird jokes then laughs at them, and you can tell he loves everything he's talking about. Everything you learn in the class is useful, and he's a very fair grader. Basically, you show up and you pass.
He is hard to understand in class because his speech is not clear. Never grades any assignments throughout the semester so you don't know what your grade is until the very end. Midterm was alright. Games project is TERRIBLE. However, I would recommend taking IT 101 Honors because it's an easy A. Never used my textbook once.
hes cool
Not the worst choice for IT101, but not my favorite professor. His class is very straightforward but getting a 4.0 is less achievable than you think. Exams aren't too hard, but the grading system is full of glitches (digital and conceptual) and felt unfair. Also hard to keep up with assignments because the syllabus isn't clear.
Frydenberg is a pretty awkward guy. He spends most of the class showing off his toys and gadgets rather than actually teaching and sending us off with assignments to do on our own. Not to mention the syllabus is incorrect and he doesn't grade anything until the semester's over. Fall semester sucks because of the Romanian project. Not an easy 4.0
He spends most of class either bragging about his accomplishments or trying to demonstrate new toys. Not the greatest at explaining things and the syllabus is not very clear. Usually forgets upload assignments on time, but if you forget to turn something in through blackboard, he usually takes it late. Incredibly slow grader.
I did not mind this professor that much. He is very knowledgeable in his field so he demonstrates some interesting new technology during class. I feel I gained some valuable computer skills and vocabulary that I would not have with another professor. The Romania project can be rough but it is not too terrible. Participate in service learning!
Frydenberg is a really chill guy and very up to date on his technology. We went on a field trip to the Microsoft Center which no other professors did. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and he replies very fast to emails. Overall this class is super easy as long as you are some knowledge of computers.
The IT101 Honors class is really easy if you have any knowledge of computers, but Frydenberg made it more confusing than necessary with his weird project requirements. Again, class is easy, but he would make our projects confusing so you didn't really know what he was looking for. If you just include enough stuff you'll be fine though. Pretty easy.
Professor Frydenberg was an alright professor. Wasn't very clear on what was due for class. Homework wasn't bad, SAM projects were easy 100s. Had a bunch of random projects throughout class, one with Romanian students, which was hard to organize. Midterm and final were ok as you could look up answers on computer and just needed to know Excel.
Professor Frydenberg gives a couple frustrating group projects, but other than that he is alright. You learn a lot of useful stuff between Excel and HTML and there was a pretty cool trip to an Amazon testing center. If you do all the work you should get a high grade. Final and midterm are rough with the SAM program but he curved them nicely.
Frydenberg was my least favorite professor this semester. He is extremely condescending. We did a project for the with some Romanian students and it was so unclear on what to do. He is very flexible on due dates though. Pretty much as long as you have everything in by the end of the semester youre good. Pretty easy 4.0
Not a difficult class but a lot of projects and assignments that come up from nowhere. No open book on the final so that sucks a bit.
Midterm and final are not open book and you can't use Google like most other classes. He's really nice and will try and help you but sometimes doesn't understand why you don't understand. Projects and assignments sometimes come out of nowhere but if you talk to him, he'll likely help or move the deadline
One characteristics of him attracts me the most, professor Mark is kind and gives understanding to things. I had issues in the final examination and told the professor about the flaws and trouble I had, understanding was given, a redo opportunity was given. He is responsible and understanding, he tries to help his students.
Many students in my class came in with background knowledge in Excel, but I did not. He assumed that we all understood what he was saying and was very condescending when explaining further, or just did not acknowledge those struggling. Very dry and made me want to cry every class out of frustration.
The class is good, except for the Romanian student project which such an unnecessary pain. Frydenberg knows his stuff and as long as you do everything a 3.7/4.0 is manageable. Some of the random assignments come out of nowhere, but they really are not that hard. The excel stuff that we learn is probably the biggest takeaway from the class.
Frydenberg is very enthusiastic about teaching and it shows. Pretty good job at explains Excel concepts with follow along demonstrations. Romania project isnt as bad as people say but he is very unorganized. Rubric for the project isnt chronological and doesnt have clear deliverables. Overall class pretty disorganized too but fun enough.
Professor Frydenberg is an excellent professor, he genuinely cares about his students learning and it shows. He runs the Sandbox and also gets published by Cengage (super smart guy).
Frydenberg grades on incredibly obscure criteria and the homeworks are incredibly confusing and incorrect at times. In class, he explains the assignments, but doesn't have a full understanding of the material to answer questions. He makes you follow along in class to his examples, but you don't get to code until the last few minutes of class.
Mark is a very difficult professor. I took python CS230 over the past semester and it was originally a great idea but now I regret every second of it. He is a very tough grader and does not cut any clack whatsoever. I advise you to take this class if you are looking to learn python at the cost of failing.
Mark teaches by have students screen share and he reads through their code or has them go through it. Nobody has any idea what is going on, this isn't how you teach python. The homeworks are super confusing and harshly graded and way more advanced than anything learned in class. Tons of work every week for entry level coding class. DONT TAKE!
He gives a lot of work each week. Go to the tutor sessions!! They do a lot of the work for you/teach you how to do the HWs which are 50% of total course grade. The tutor sessions are a life saver as I found it very difficult to learn in class from Mark's teaching style. He cold calls A LOT so you have to pay attention, often goes over time.
I found the class pretty easy, but this was not thanks to Prof Frydenberg's teaching style. I found it pretty disorganized and did not enjoy the way we didn't have notes but instead learned exclusively through examples that I struggled to pay attention to. The material was pretty easy, and the CIS Sandbox offered lots of help, but idk if I learned
Professor Frydenberg was a great professor, but beware that he does like to randomly call on you in class, so make sure you do the discussion posts and are actually paying attention. He is very kind during office hours and really wants to get to know his students. He is very patient and lenient when it comes to deadlines, but is a harsh grader.
Please don't take this professor. I've never struggled so much. I felt I was being singled out by him. He called on me every single class and continuously gave my peers higher grades on our codes when they were literally the same. Do not recommend.
Mark cannot teach. Most of the class is spent going through other students' code and debugging but not actual notes and learning. The five coding projects Mark assigns will take AT LEAST 10 hours of coding each. CIS sandbox will help. DO the extra credit!
Mark is an incompetent bum. His lectures consists of him mumbling on about useless information for an hour and half, information that you will not be tested on. There is no structure to the course, he will assign a project, forget about it, assign another project, lecture about cassette tapes, remember the projects and take 4 months to grade them
Terrible teaching style, unorganized, overwhelming projects I once went to his office hours and he dozed off multiple times when answering my questions. I completed an excel assignment to drop a bad grade. He didn't count it, I spent 3 hours for nothing. He said I learned a valuable lesson on excel and my grade didn't matter Please save yourself
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!
Frydenberg is one of the most disorganized people I've met. He assigns projects with no guidance and constantly changes due dates. He doesn't return work or enter grades until the last class or after. Exams are extremely disorganized at best. Lots of excel hw but lenient on due dates. Nice guy but just disorganized sometimes and lectures can beslow
Professor Frydenberg does not accurately update grades. He favors a select few students, and ignores the rest. Thought I was doing good in class, and finally updates grade and turns out not doing too good. No chance at redemption. Would NOT take again.
Pretty sure he's the department chair, so take him if you want to really learn, as I can say I learned more with him than those who took CS230 w/others. It took hours more in weekly work, but I went from knowing nothing about python to being a decent coder now. Final project for CS230 is resume worthy. Very cool class + professor, would take again!
Frydenberg often feels like he is talking down to his students. Most of the class material was relatively easy for me but I had already learned a bit of java. I often noticed that when he graded my code he would make mistakes, and he often would shrug it off (he seems to have a massive ego). If you don't mind cold calls, the class isn't too bas.
Honeslty if you can take someone else do it. He never puts in grades and due dates are extremely unclear. He takes forever to grade and you NEVER know what you have in the class. However, he is very easy to get a hold of and if you talk to him he will help will change your grade if you explain or fix it
DO NOT TAKE. He never puts in grades so you never know where you stand. Assignments are all over the place and have unclear instructions. My whole class did terrible on his midterm and he refused to curve our scores. I found out I had failed the class weeks after the final, I thought I was doing fine in the class.
This man Is by far the most difficult human being I have ever encountered, he is fun sometimes but if you his course is so disorganized, when I miss an assignment because I'm confused or something, he will cut no slack whatsoever, and when I talk to him about a concern of mine, he is always uninterested and has this attitude where he thinks he's >>
FDS 100: He isn't very clear and the class was mainly led by the peer leader, assignments are very easy, but he doesn't really talk about them in class. Horrible at grading, doesn't care if work is late bc he never grades anything. Try to go to class, but he doesn't say anything when u don't. Very boring and low-key rude when ur late or struggling
One of the most unorthodox professors I've ever had. He isn't great on assigning work however he does understand if you are late. His blackboard is all over the place but he's funny and entertaining, pretty awkward dude in all but I like him.
Great professor would definitely recommend. He genuinely cares about his students, and he made the class relatively easy. Definitely very accessible after class, responds to messages just about instantly. Even in the night, and on the weekend. If you have questions or concerns he will walk you through them all.
There were alot of assignments but were pretty easy. I was confused with an assignment and I emailed him at 11pm and he responded and jumped on a zoom call with me to help. He really cares about his students.
Assigns way too much homework, its all busy work and he doesn't grade anything until the last day of the semester. Compared to other professors teaching the same course he assigns 10x more homework then all of them and this course isn't even important (FDS100). I'd bet he would assign even more homework in any of the other courses he teaches.
Professor Frydenberg's class is extremely easy. He is a relatively laid back professor, with a good amount of flexibility. His class seemed relatively pointless at times, but overall super easy if you do the work.
He did a great job in teaching the class and you can tell that he knew all of the content. He put us in groups all the time to work through problems and did a good job of explaining things. Not the best when it comes to giving feedback, but when it comes to teaching the subject, he knows what he's talking about!
Not my type of professor, he kinda just assigned stuff and expected us to figure it out on our own. People would ask for help and he didn't give clear answers. I was in the honors section, so we had a special project with a university in Romania where we had to work with students from there. I would just stick to a regular section.
Prof Frydenberg isn't the best at lecturing, but outside of class, he is a great person to talk to and can help you when needed. I found the first half of the class to be very easy, but once the second half started, difficulty picked up. 2 quizzes with lockdown browser, 4 program assignments, and a final project that you can put on your resume.
Professor Frydenberg is very sweet and nice to talk to. He's a little bit scatter-brained, but it's a non-issue. Tests are beyond easy. Just work hard on the projects.
Professor was unhelpful and, at times, almost equally as lost as the students were. Very useful information for anyone interested in computer science, but the class is incredibly boring.
The assignments randomly get difficult out of nowhere, and the final project seemed incredibly rushed and not taught well. His class structure is very unorganized and the same every time. I went to his office hours one time and he was literally falling asleep while I was talking to him. Not sure what's wrong with this dude but id avoid him.
Really good at coding not that good at teaching, rushes into the content, this class made me change majors
Run please run and don't look back switch majors switch colleges move across the world and never come back if you have to take this class with mark
Took this class as an asych course and it was a lot of work. 3 practice programs each week, with 4 projects over the semester. Also, 2 conversational zoom quizzes that you have to show and modify code to him. Don't feel like a learnt much from his content, but if you have any python background, this will be ok for you.
This class is decent amount of work, practice problems due every week. 4 teamwork projects, 5 coding projects, and 2 conversional quizzes that are one on one zoom with him. The programs get progressively difficult throughout the semester. Would not recommend taking this class online if you have no python or coding experience
Completely disorganized and assigns busy work with little meaning.
Disorganized
Stacks multiple seemingly useless projects on top of each other and gives unclear instructions on when they are due.
Don't get all the 230 hate, the class was hard and had WAY too many assignments; but Frydenberg did his best to accomodate students. Everytime I reached out, he was happy to explain a topic and was generous with giving extensions as he too understood the workload of the course. He would get back to me on Teams fast too. Great teacher, awful course
While the lectures can be a bit rushed, Prof. Frydenberg is very knowledgeable and willing to help outside of class. The assignments get challenging, but using Unstuck ai and the free textbook can make a big difference. Overall, a rewarding course for those willing to put in the work.
I mean, maybe learn about our future if you are the head of the CIS department, the entire department is so undereducated, using ai tools to grade everything a student uses is lazy (shows zero appreciation and empathy towards students). If you do not agree with the ai future we have with coding, then don't take it out on students… think about it.
DO NOT TAKE ASYNCH. He is not organized enough to be teaching an online course. I cannot speak to the quality of his in person, but online is not it. Also, it is impossible to understand what he is saying about half the time. He mumbles through every word. DO NOT TAKE CS230 ASYNCH WITH THIS PROF
Professor Fryndenberg acts like everyone going to be a computer scientist. I JUST WANT TO LEARN SOME BASICS, NOT PRACTICE PROGRAMMING INTERVIEWS. Not organized at all, really bad for an online course. I do not understand how he still has a job while being unable to enunciate enough to carry a single conversation (not an accent, just can't speak).
Just do not take!!!!!
It was a really hard and bad class. You have to do conversation interviews and the work load is crazy. A lot of kids fail all the projects worth 40% of your grade. Also he's rly mean.
He was super boring and was completely useless if something came up that wasn't exactly in the lecture. He oftentimes got the excel wrong in class so if he was using your computer it messes up your grade.
Such a bad professor I took him for 230 online and he graded everything without a rubric. It was very hard to do well. I received zero help or instruction from him on my group project after everyone else in my group withdrew from the class. He would reach out to me on teams at insane hours and ask to meet via teams meetings at 11PM.
