Mark is one of the best profs i've ever had. I took him for lab 1406 and lucked out. He was EXTREMELY helpful and did anything and everything in his power to get you what you needed. Take him if you get a chance, you won't regret it!

LOVE THIS LAB! Wish he taught different classes. Prof. Garcia is an awesome teacher. Things that did not make sense in lecture are clarified with his notes at the beginning of lab. Write down everything he puts on the board and complete all the worksheets. Quiz every week over the lab the week prior. Opps for extra credit and make up points!

Garcia is awesome! He explains the material in a way that you will understand it. As for the practicals, if you put the time in to study you should do well. This is by no means a blowoff class even though its general biology. You still have to work for your grade.

This is my first semester going back to school and Prof Garcia definitely knows his stuff. He expects his students to work & his grades let you know how much you need to improve. I went to him for office hours and it helped my grade a lot. He sees who is putting in the honest effort and who isn't. It's ultimately your own fault if you don't pass.

SOOOO HOTTT!!!!! Such an awesome teacher! Young, passionate, great examples, easy to understand and understanding. It is a difficult subject but he makes it good. Half of the questions from the test come from the quizzes (that you can correct). Drops lowest test grade for the highest therefore makes it easy to be exempt from the exam. Perfection!

Professor Garcia is crystal clear what he expecting you to do for the assignments. In labs we have 3 lab reports, 1 scientific paper,2 practicals and 10 quizzes. He will drop 2 lowest grades. 4 exams and final in lecture, but if you do well you have option to take your final. I took his class in fall 2012 and got an A.

Even if you have an 88.9, he will not give you the A. MIT grad. Very excited about Biology, should be teaching at a University.

As a professor he doesn't hand you an A because you showed up, you have to work for it. Going to his office, he's willing to sit down one-on-one and help you understand the material before and after a test. A terrific educator who is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about microbiology. Marc Garcia is a highly intelligent and able to relate difficult material into understandable terms. Prof. Garcia is a good. He explain clear and help you to understand whatever you consider hard so if you need help, office hrs are available. But his exams are hard very hard so be ready to read your text book. He does not give extra credit and do not expect curving on test either. So study hard to score high. You are riding solo in this class.

Attendance is optional, no mandatory but I highly recommend you to attend class, because a lot of what he teach in class, it will come on the test. So do not miss class. Good teacher but hard class. Test are hard. Be ready to ready.

GREAT FREAKING PROFESSOR, but the tests, oooh boy. I ended up re writing my notes like 5 times and watching his videos before the test day and still barley passed the tests. Professor Garcia is great at explaining a concept in depth that maybe difficult to understand. However he does expect you to study and to come to him if you have questions. It is college, your responsible to ask questions if you don't understand something in the class. The tests are difficult, you need to understand each concept.

However, his tests are EXTREMELY difficult and there's no extra credit , so know what you're getting into before signing up for him. If you want an easy A, then he is not for you.

Professor Garcia is an excellent lecturer who is very easy to listen to. He has a very up - to - spec website with lecture videos and plenty of resources if you'd like to tap into them. As long as you are attentive during lecture and make an effort outside of class to understand the material he's approachable to clarify the hard concepts.

He has strong knowledge of the subject. Which translates to knowing not only the material but you will have to know what went wrong with a specific experiment and how to correct it. He is a really great professor and I am glad I was able to attend his class.

Honestly, I'm not a science major, but I took 1406. It was the hardest class I've taken yet. If you're not pre-med or a science major, just take 1408. He is a very smart guy who definitely knows what he is talking about. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches and does review sessions to help students. BUT you definitely learn in depth so you have to KNOW every small thing for the tests; they are very hard in my opinion. He posts his class test grades and they mostly average 70 for all classes.

Professor Garcia loves what he does and it is evident in the way he teaches. Show up to class, ask questions (he will answer them all!), and study. Professor Garcia is an AMAZING educator. You can tell right away that he truly enjoys teaching his students about science. His lectures are excellent!! He is super helpful and has tons of resources to help his students succeed in his class. I feel lucky to have found such a wonderful professor and person. I would highly recommend him!! :)

He is a really good professor and knows the subject so well! Don't take the class if you're not ready to study. His tests are hard but if you study you can make an A. There are a lot of things he does to help his students as well you just have to ask or look. Can't be lazy.

Prof. Garcia is hands-down the best professor I've ever had. 1) he literally just LOVES to teach Biology, and he's good at doing it. 2) his class isn't easy, but he gives you SO MANY resources to succeed it's unreal. Read the book, watch his online reviews, do the written reviews+the HW, and you're golden. Seriously couldn't recommend him enough!

If you absolutely have to take Biology, this is the man you want to see. Show up to class, give it 123%, and show up at office hours for help and you will make it out with a decent if not sensational grade. Bio is hard for me but I got a high B! Way better than my first try with another professor which was a D. lol

To reiterate, professor Garcia is very knowledgable about the subject and works extreemly hard to make bio fun for you to learn. But YOU have to want to learn in order to experience it that way. He's one of the movers and shakers at CC. See for yourself! -j
