Excellent professor, classes will consist of novels and essays, no tests, quite easy to get a B, but difficult to get an A or less than a C, if you run into trouble with his class he will go way out of his way to help you to get back on top of the class. Excellent professor with an excellent attitude

Gellis is a pretty cool guy. His class is fairly easy and he knows it isn't the most important class in the world and would rather you do better in other classes. I did all his papers the night before they were due(we had 3 weeks for each) and got about a B on all of them. He doesn't even mention his book after the first day. One of my fav. profs.

Gellis is a cool guy, he loves anime and will talk about it for hours on end. His assignments were relatively easy though, and if you fail he'll allow you to resubmit and then pretend the first one didn't happen. He also cares about his students and their performance in the class.

Gellis expects next to nothing for all assignments other than the mid term paper and final paper. As soon as these major papers come about although he turns into a completely different person. I went from having a B+ to a final C after my final paper which was by no means poorly written. Bad grader

He is a good teacher. He does go tangents but gets his point acrossed. Only had to do three papers and one presentation. He does grade tough, really nit picky on the grammar.

The guy is pretty energetic during class. Not a bad guy. If you have a question he is always willing to help and is actually helpful. Only thing is that he expects perfection so getting an A is a bit hard. Usually his grading puts everyone at a B+ or A-. Overall though class is great and discussions are interesting.

This man really cares about his job and the students. Three papers and one team speech is all that makes up this class. No tests or final. Gives great feedback for all papers but can be a little over critical sometimes. Unless you are amazing at writing and know exactly what he wants you'll most likely end up with a B. Mandatory attendance.

Lectures are usually interesting. He's very enthusiastic and happy to be teaching the class. There is a lot of reading. Don't just skip it and read the sparknotes, your papers will suffer. Grading criteria is unclear and feedback is almost nonexistent. It's not difficult to get a B but incredibly difficult to get above that.

Gellis is a HARD grader. Your grade will consist of 3 papers and a group presentation. You do not choose your group. Class is boring, but go. Your grade will not be a straight average of your 4 scores. I got A- on all 3 papers and a B on the presentation and received an A in the course. Be nice to him, go to office, show you are making an effort.

Doesn't give you any type of grading scale, just writes a letter on your paper and circles it. Doesn't give above a B+; I got all A's in all other classes and I got boned by this dude. Also if you actually put in the effort to do your research paper and someone else doesn't, they are allowed to redo it and get a better grade than you and you can't.

Gellis just isn't very good. He is not clear on what he wants out of a paper. Even if you take it to him multiple times, he will say similar sort of things each time, or even contradict himself. On top of that, his lectures are useless. He'll constantly go on tangents and repeat the same stories over.

I enjoyed having Dr. Gellis as my professor for COMM-301. His grading has helped me learn how to write better and more efficiently. I am thankful for the Extra Credit project at the end of the term as well.

Gellis graded my paper said it was next to perfect than gave me a B-. The only reason I got a B- is because I did something that he recommended for me and then took points off from me. His lectures are completely pointless to attend because nothing in the lectures actually pertain to the class. He is up front and rude to students about their paper

There's a lot of reading for literature of the fantastic. He takes attendance and you can't skip. There are never any in-class grades or tests. You will write a lot of papers. One paper per book, 10 books total. Prepare to read and type. He doesn't grade fairly. A classmate turned in his midterm 3 weeks late and got a better grade than myself...

Gellis is probably one of the better professors I have had at Kettering. Lit of the Fantastic is a lot of reading, but none of it is difficult. Each book has a small, 500 word essay attached to it, plus a midterm and a final. Gellis doesn't give out A's lightly, but if you work for it and take his suggestions, you will do fine in this class.
