Mr. Goodman is an excellent instructor
Don't take unless you want to be bored for an hour fifteen.
funny teacher, fairly hard suject and tests. Study guides are helpful
Test and study guide have nothing in common.
Not a very interesting class, but afterall it is a science!
excellent at explaining things....makes things interesting!! awesome professor

3 tests & 4 small map quizes. If U go to class &do study guides, It's easy!
very ridiculous tests, class is not fair
Mark is an excellent instructor !
Not easy !!!
Pay attention and take notes. Not a hard class.
he is not nice. i don't like the way he looks or dresses. his class is really boring and his tests are really hard. i payed attention and read the book and i still failed the test.
Actually it's true he's so easy class to get a D or an F.If you want get a D or lower, you should take it with him!!
Nice guy, tells funny, interesting stories during class. Easy A- gives detailed study guides
Never read any of the book, still got a B. Not a hard class.
Not an easy teacher, but not hard either. Mark was very fair. I got a C and never opened the book, but if you take really good notes and follow his study guides he's not hard. Write down whatever he does and at least you may pass.
he helped me get an A. If i didn't understand any thing he would help me out one on one. Great class and teacher. His jokes are stupid, but that's what makes them funny.

Goodman is a nice guy but, a very difficult teacher! His lectures are hard to follow and he scribbles way too much info on the board.. by end of class, one doesn't know what the heck his point was.. For"Gen Edu Req", I recommend Sci 110 w/Oakes.

I think he thinks that all the students are professors because he givs them a very difficult and a lot of stuff to study. for example, he gave us more tha 70 places around the world to find them and study them for only one quis! Oh God. It's a lot.
Do you want my recomindation? Don't take this class with this teacher.
Great teacher, very interesting, very helpful. American students don't want to know anything about the rest of the world so they whine all of the time.Of course you are expected to learn maps and places around the world...its a GEOGRAPHY course!
He is a very hard teacher. His test is very hard. five of my friend got F in his class. if yoy want to get f take it. realy he is very hard.
Easy to follow. Gives a good outline of notes on board. There is a lot of information to remember though.
I got an F the first time I took his class, and as much as I complained, I KNOW I deserved it. I took it again & got a B. Honestly, I learned SO much in his class! He's a great professor. He made me interested in science- JUST RELAX, LISTEN & STUDY!
Goodman's course helped me develope alot of useful skills. I even believe that the skills he taught me are the main reason I have been offered a job as a Geospatial Analyst with a high level federal agency in DC. (HOW'S THAT FOR RESULTS:)
Goodman was one of the most straight-forward teachers I've ever had. His exams are hard, but he lets you know exactly what to study. I also found the class interesting (but I like science a lot)
Mr. Goodman was a great Geography teacher. You can tell he really cares about his students. (those study sessions really help) The class is hard but from what I've heard all Geog. 120's are hard. So work hard and stay organized!
Awesome instructor and lecturer, he definitely knows what he talking about, can't stump him. You will do good on test if you study the guides as you go along in class. DO NOT wait the week before the tests. Also, study the maps he gives.
dont take this class . none of my friends passed. he is hard and does not really seem to care about how his students do. you have to memorize like a million places around the world.
This guy is really interesting, class is never boring. He's been everywhere. All you have to do is take good notes and it's an easy A
I loved this class. Mark is organized, easy to understand, and caring. The tests arn't hard, just go to class, answer the study guides for each test and you will do great.
this teacher is funny. the map quizes are easy but the test are extremely hard. make sure you know your diagrams
he is great teacher~he have some review section,so that you no need to worry about the exam,he always answers our questions, he is helpful, just study all the study guide~and do well in map quiz, then you will be fine^^i love this class~
damn good teacher definitely recommend taking him ... one of the few professors at grossmont who actually knows their stuff. hes so good that i just show up, listen to the lecture, never open the book and get a B in the class
He is a god man, but a togh teacher. Don't take him if you want an A. You can't get it from his class even if you are Anchentine.
Good guy, not teacher.loves his subject, but seems he's teaching b/c that's the only thing he could do with his major. His notes are too detailed and don't make much sense. He expects too much out of a 100 level class. The tests are unnecesarily specific.
nice guy, but boooooooooooooooooring class. I struggled to stay awake everyday.
Mr. Goodman is a great teacher! Don't believe the whinners...some people jsut don't want to learn. The teacher is interesting and really in to it...yes its challenging, but hey...isn't this degree supposed to mean something? Take him if you are seriou
He is a great teacher. He gives study guides and reviews for tests. You can say he gives you the anwers. Take him VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED
ITS AN EASY CLASS ONLY IF YOU SHOW UP EVERYDAY AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTES. HE MAKE THE SUBJECT FUN
He's a great teacher and he makes the subject way interesting. He is very funny and is always making the class laugh. Even if you're not into geography you should take his class, it's great
Mark Goodman had his moments (calling the syllabus a "portable me," occasionally slipping in a little deadpan humor). But I found his once-a-week class so inundated with information that I had a hard time going home and sorting it all out. Goodman, a little pause once in a while might help.
HIS CLASS CAN BE BORING AND CHALLENGING. BUT JUST DO WELL ON THE MAP QUIZES AND GO TO THE REVIEW SESSION, YOU'LL DO JUST FINE IN HIS CLASS. HIS MAP QUIZES ARE EASY. I FAILED GEOG 120 THE FIRST TIME, THEN I TOOK IT WITH GOODMAN AND I PASSED WITH A "B"
he is really smart, just had a problem passing his knowlege on. you either get it or you dont in his class, there are no tips i can give. make sure to start the study guides early
I thought he was a good teacher. All you do in the class is take notes and draw diagrams but if you are interested it's not that bad. He really emphasizes and repeats the important parts and as long as you know the study guide you will pass the tests.
He is a very good teacher. He was always willing to explain me in more detail the parts I didn't understand. His test are very, very hard. Map quizes are easy. Final exam is little easier than the first 2.This class is not easy at all you've to study really hard to get a "C" or "B" but try hard.
Nice guy, but very hard teacher. Map quiz is really easy, but the tests are very difficult even after you study with the study guide. If this is one class you dont really need dont take it.
This teacher is soooo hard. I get "A"'s in all my other classes and I got a "C" in this class. He is not at all helpful and he gives test and quizzes on the same day! He sucks! There is way too much information on the test for anyone to learn.
Well travelled, funny dude. Lecture materials parallel reading and he provides excellent study guide which lays out exam.
Lecture can be fun, lots of wacky touches(character voices, funky languages, and the nutritional values of insects)But You MUST attend class, and study hard for tests by answering most of the study guide DURING HIS LECTURES filling in the blanks from the book. You dont=you won't do well on exams.
this class was alright. i was just there to get a GED for STATE. if you like to memerize A LOT of information, take this class. DON'T MISS A CLASS. I EMPHASIZE THAT STRONGLY. gives extensive notes that'll be covered for the test.

Kermit the frog. Pointy nose, funny voice. The class is awful. He seems like an okay guy, HUGELY knowledgeable, but the class is very difficult. So much to memorize, and there is no limit to how much he puts on a test. 3 tests in a semester and 10 map quizzes is just not enough for so much info.
the problem with this class is that there isnt enough possible points. you do bad on the exam, your screwed. the exams are hard! i studied pretty hard and got a C! Hes a nice/funny person. I like his personality a lot..he just needs to give students more possible points.
Very hard. A lot of detail to remember. Very nice guy. If you do bad on the tests you will get an overall bad grade. Not enough point possibilities. Too much information too little time. Only take this class if you have too.
too much info and not enough points. A lot of memorization. He gets pissed if you have to use the restroom. HARD tests, constant boring lecture. Cannot miss class, take a lot of notes, study everything, read everything. This class will stress you out. It was hell and so so so boring. I recieved mostly As and i barely passed this evil class! RUN!!!
Mark is an ass and his test are soooooo hard! DO NOT..I REALLY MEAN IT! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS OR ANY GEOG class if you can help it. Way too much info to study and he only has 3 tests. TAKE something easier like Science 110 with ALbert! or geology! anything is better than geog especially with mark!
Hey hey Hey People! Don't misunderstand of Mr. Goodman in bad way! Geog. 120 is the very hard class. Even though you took the class by any teacher, you would struggle. If you did not like the class, may not because of Mr. Goodman. He is the great teacher!!
I learned so much! If you're at school to actually become a more intelligent person, and not just so you can still live at you parent's house, this is a great class. The tests are very hard, but they're always on exactly what he covered in class. Also, he usually has study sessions before each test if you need extra help. GREAT CLASS!
Really really really nice guy. His class seems easy but the tests are really really hard. No matter how hard you study you will have a little trouble passing this class. You definately need to work for it.
If you want to take this class beware of the diagrams. You draw more crazy diagrams than you write note and you have to memorize them. The class is hard. 10 map quizzes and 3 hard tests(with essay questions). But Goodman was funny, he actually made this class (which isn't that interesting) fun. But he's kind of a jerk.
Mr. Goodman is hilarious. Geography is boring, of course. But if you take him it wont be half as bad. It is a hard class, but I slacked off. Overall, I really liked him.
Mr. Goodman is a really good teacher but his tests/quizzes are EXTREMELY HARD! Dont miss a class and/or start to doze off because you'll miss something very important.

Mark is a very intelligent man who is always on top of things. His lectures are well taught but there is an abundance of information to memorize. He gives map quizzes (1 every week) which require you to memorize at least 50 different locations. His tests are difficult. Only take this course if you can dedicate yourself to the work.
Mark is intelligent but this course has so much material in it that it makes it difficult for him to teach effectively. In order to pass this course, you have to be able to dedicate yourself to the work and concentrate hard during lectures. Mark may come across as a distant person to some who fails to connect with his students on personal levels.
This class is hard. The test are extremely hard. The map quizzes are easy but don't count for much of your grade. do bad on 1 test you'll get a D or at best a c in the class
Avoid at all costs! Hard and wont budge for anyone. If you wanna spend all your time on one class and get a D or a C GO FOR IT. Have fun failing!!
Professor Goodman is an intelligent teacher and knowledgable. He knows his materials very well. He is taugh when it comes to exams, but reading the book and listening to his lectures will clear things and at the end of the semester the world of geography will make more sense. this is not an easy class for those who are lazy. I racommend him to A St

He kinda sounds like Kermit the Frog, knows his stuff. This class would be better if he included his students in it; there so no participation, only lecture. Three hours of lecture can be numbing.
This guy seems totally uninterested in being a teacher. He never gives me straight answers and is kind of rude. I never knew where I stood in the class because I never got the work back. He was very short in conversations and unavailable outside class.
Material is difficult and with his non-stop lecturing its even harder to grasp. No hands-on, very little class participation, much study time required for exams... map quizes are easy though. Tuff stuff
Not the easiest class but if you show up for every lecture and take good notes, you can pass and you'll learn A LOT!
He was very organized, and knows what he is talking about. Loves to see students outside of class. I didn't know geography was so interesting. Its more than maps, way more.
Funny guy. Take notes daily. Most of info from tests are outlined in his lectures. Gives weekly map quizzes, which can definetly make or break your grade. Makes geography as interesting as possible.
WORST TESTS EVER...NOT EVEN ON WHAT HE SAYS IN LECTURES!!!!!
he's hard
Super hard~~ He is a nice guy but most of tests are not from the book.Dont take his class is u dont know anything about geography.
Extremely organized and knows his stuff. Throws in light humor to keep a seemingly dull subject interesting. Exam content is thoroughly lectured on in class. Class not mandatory but necessary in getting a passing grade. Weekly map quizzes are intimidating at first but good studying habits make this class easier than expected and quire reasonable.
Kinda boring but fair. Tests are not extremely hard but you do have to study. Make sure to study for weekly map quizzes. Not hard if you work for your grade.
He's nice but its a boring class. He talks too much, I never got his notes. So you need to read the whole book. I failed all my exams. They were so hard. Not just for me, for all the class. Overall he is a really nice teacher.
Mr Goodman is very interesting, knowlegable and enthusiastic about his subject. If you come to class, take good notes, and study for the quizes and tests you will pass the class. His test are not easy. if fact the true/false portions are the most difficult part. He is a good teacher and if you are a good student you will pass his class.
He's very enthusiastic about the subject, so it helps make the class more interesting, even if his jokes are...different. This class is somewhat difficult, you just have to put the effort into studying. Map quizzes are easy points! I thought he was very nice guy and I would recommend him, just be prepared and start the study guides early!
he seems to be a good teacher. but he often get wrong spell. his exam is hard. you should read the txt book. i hate map quizes of every week!
I have attended every single class, paid attention, taken all the notes from his lectures, done the study guides, studied for hours, and still failed the tests. I have never failed a course until now, thanks to this wonderful class. He thinks everyone knows what he's talking about and talks extremely fast. Tests cover too many chapters and info.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. I attended every lecture on time, did all my study guides, and studied my ass off. I am an A student, but had trouble pulling off a "C" in this class. This teacher looks down on his students and does not treat them with any amount of respect.
Mr. Goodman is an excellent teacher. I appreciate how well organized his lectures are. The map quizzes force you to learn the geography of our world. It takes a lot of time to do all the coloring and reading in the map book, but the material is really interesting and worth the effort. Geo 120 is mostly about weather - dry but interesting.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had.
very helpful
Mr. Goodman is a good teacher. He maps the entire semester to keep the material content moderate and able to take in with other classes. He makes himself available to those who would like extra help. You have to know what learning styles work best for you and not be afraid to ask teachers for advise, even subject matters outside their own.
I had a 4.0 GPA, until I took this guy. His tests are extremely hard, he's boring as hell to listen to. You do nothing but take notes that he writes on the board and none of it relates to the tests you take. I would not recommend this guy.
I do not recommend this teacher to anyone! There are exams almost every week and you have to do the majority of the learning on your own. He has very few office hours and even then he is extremely unhelpful. Also double check your graded papers, he his t/a do his grading and you'll find a lot of errors because he doesn't verify correctness.
AWFUL CLASS!! The lectures are completely useless when it comes to the tests. There are 10 map quizzes that require you to memorize atleast 50 locations each week. He was never available for outside help and when I was able to contact him he was never able to give straight answers. I never knew where I stood in the class, he is so unorganized!
He is not as bad as everyone says. The class does require a lot of studying and a lot of map quizzes but those are important so make sure you study for them they will help your grade a lot. The tests are a little challening cause he doesn't always go over everything on the study guide. But he gives you time to ask any question you want. Overall not
I showed up to every class, took all of his stupid tests that make no sense, wrote page after page of notes that relates with nothing in the book and he gives me an F. This guy could not teach a dog to lick its own balls.
Gives a handout of the slides that he shows to scribble notes on. Quizzes every week, tests every 4-6 (three total). Nice guy. Hands out study packets for questions on the test. I busted my ass, got an A. It can be done. Expects you to work and pay attention, both fair requests. Find a few people to study/note exchange with, helps a lot. Good class
Mr Goodman is incredibly boring. That aside, you can listen to every word he says, write it all down and meticulously memorize it and you still won't get good grades on his tests. I stuck it out and actually got an F on the final. Who gets an F on a final?! Much of the information I'd never even heard.
Cult Geog. Goodman's style is to lecture all period long. Drop dead boring. No papers, presentations, or projects to do either. Just copy down notes for the multiple choice, T/F, short answer exams and the ever-popular map quizzes (anyone know or care where the Kyzylkum desert is?). Skip this class and just read the book in your spare time.
Mr. Goodman is an outstanding instructor. He is actually one of the few best and fun professors I've ever had. But it's very important that you attend every lecture and take good notes. Write down everything he says because it becomes helpful for the study guides. He will go over the study guide in class. The true/false questions on the exams are a
Professor Goodman is great. He has lived and travelled around the world and really knows his stuff. His lectures are very well organized and relevant. It's important to attend class, pay attention, and take notes (if you want to do well). I've seen him in office hours and he was incredibly helpful. Take if you want to learn more about the world.
Please if you want to pass this class do not take this proffessor. He is just weird I think he doesn't like see people pass his class. The quizes he gives and atlas maps are just a waste of time coz he will either give you a 0 or 1 out five and all the answers are right. And dont forget hard exams study guide just a piece of crab.
Goodman is super duper strange. He almost seemed determined to make every student bust their ass just to pass. I felt like he was kind of mean to me on purpose, but I ended up with an A ? This class is by no means an easy grade...all lecture, no book, and you better remember every detail...every detail ?...YES...EVERY DETAIL
This is a tough class but hey its college. I worked really hard and got a B+ so getting a good grade in this class is possible. While this is not my major I found alot of the lectures interesting. I also found Mr. Goodman to be very helpful when I asked him questions. My opinion is that he doesn't tolerate slackers!
Mark is a very smart guy. His class is definitely not one to breeze through, but it's not one that'll take your life away. I thought he had a great sense of humor as well. Take notes, including EVERY example he gives you that's not on his notes. Map quizzes are very straight forward. I got a B in the class, he's an awesome teacher for the subject.
This class was very tough. I had above a 3.5 gpa till this course. I had to study my butt off, I did every stduy guide, and I still got a C. The T/F on his exams are awful, and the main reason I did poor on tests was because of it. If your going to take this, either take another teacher, or take something else that fits the same category in Gen Ed.
I took his class and ended up with an F. His class is VERY hard and you must pay close attention to every single detail he mentions. Very smart guy, and a nice guy, but if you want a good grade, I highly recommend taking another class! I went in interested in the subject, and left very uninterested.
Do yourself a favor and don't take geography. Seriously, it's about as uninteresting as humanly possible.
He is a good teacher. I never opened the book, just study his notes and study a map, and i got an A. pretty easy, just don't be lazy. Goodman is a good teacher. enjoyed the class. AND it was my first semester in college and i was taking 18 units.
He is an excellent teacher! It is true that his class has a lot of stuff to learn. However, that's what we chose this class for (Except you just want to get a good score without knowing anything). He is very helpful to students who ask him questions. So feel free to ask him questions, he'll answer your question patiently if he has time.
Extremely hard! I have a 4.0 gpa and am on Dean's List. I spent more time studying for his exams than any other class and still can't pass them. He knows his subject but his exams are extremely difficult and even using the study guides did not help me. I would not recommend taking this class.
He is a great teacher and a good person. His lectures are interesting as far as geography goes, but his tests are extremely hard. Studied for days in advanced and still D-. I have never worked so hard for a D before.
Super hard. Does not matter how hard you study, tests are rediculous...
I studied hard and got a B+. My advice is to see him during office hours. I did not at first and my grade suffered. After I went to his office hours and talkd to him about the material I did much better on exams. A great professor but has high expectations of his students.
He was a GREAT lab teacher! He was so much fun and had so much enthusiasm! I loved him and his class! I got an easy A!
Great Professor. It helps to be more involved in the class. He will help you, but it up to you to go to him and get the help. Highly recommended.
Very boring, & the study guides are not good. Plus the tests are ridiculous... Don't do it to yourself
Terrible teacher, just took geography 120 class and it was ridiculously hard. The tests are impossible and map quizes are too much, take a different teacher! Class started out full and by the end maybe 10 kids, no A's or B's. Guy should not be a teacher. Annoying voice too.
This is the worst professor ever. Study guides are useless test are hard with super tricky questions.. Class started as full and by the end only 7 kids and as far as I know about 3 passed. Do not take him.
Horrible teacher. Not helpful at all, tests are multiple units crammed into one - Entire structure of the class was stressful and ridiculous. Save yourself the time and avoid this teacher.
basically do not take this teacher, I find geography very interesting and did well in all other classes except this one. He gives you a lot of information and you will take a ton of notes that you will study from but when it comes to the test none of the notes will help. study guides are literally pointless, do not take him!
I LOVED this teacher! Yes he is hard and he gives you a lot of material to study from but if you do the work you will do well. I'm honestly amazed that people didn't like him. He gives extra credit, lets us use our notes AND told us word for word a lot of what was on the tests. Basically you just need to work for your grade.
He is wonderful. I took him for lab. He is so helpful and funny. I would definitely suggest taking him!
Professor Goodman is a really good teacher. He doesn't spoon feed his students, but he is passionate about what he teaches. You should take copious notes and understand them. I decided to become a geography major because of this class. I passed, barely, but it was well worth the hard work.
Very funny, keeps you interested during lecture. I learned a lot, but unfortunately I had a tough time studying for the exams that, in my opinion, contained way too much material to remember.
Goodman is a great teacher, engaging, funny, and not boring at all. The problem was the tests, which are ludicrously hard. You have to almost record his lectures to be able to get the information you need for the tests. The book is next to useless, I've found maybe 20 answers in it that I needed over the course of the whole semester. The tests kill
His tests are brutal. The material he covers in class do not go hand in hand with his tests, the book is useless. And he speaks too fast.
Professor Goodman made geography lab easy and interesting. His lectures were straightforward and his outlines on what was expected in each class were very clear. He's there to help you after class and during office hours.
Professor Goodman's physical geography lab class was great. He started each lab by going over what we would be doing and then he helped us along the way. If you ever got stuck on something he was available to clarify and keep you on track. There were also opportunities for extra credit. I got a great grade (A)and now know more about the local area.
He looks like Despicable Me. And steve carrel. But hes a smart teacher and explains things well. Classes arent very interesting and homework is steady through the whole semesters. Some tests were challenging. Very passable class though.
This class turned out to be way better than I thought. Mr. Goodman made a boring class fun and interesting and he gave lots of extra credit and gave us practice exams before the real ones which helped alot for the real ones which were open notes and hes been like everywhere. Kinda cute in a funny way
Great cooperation between team teachers - very helpful
class started off with around 30 people and finished with half. This class is not hard but requires you to have excellent notes. He will give you a study guide for each section and you should record word for word everything that he says. If you do this you will pass. The tests are open note. You won't need the book!!. The true false is no joke
One of the most enjoyable classes I've taken. Professor Goodman is great to take geography from as he's lived and worked and travelled around the world and he's very helpful. Show up to lecture and take really good notes and you'll pass. Exams are open note! There were extra credit stuff too. I feel like I learned a lot and now want to go travel.
Great class. Take Prof Goodman for this class.
Mark is a really good professor, however the problem is his tests. They were rediculous in terms of how many true - false there were. He's very knowledgeable about his subject, and his expertise. Do not take this class unless you have to, take History 106 or something of that nature.
Mark is a great professor on the basis that he is passionate about Geography and has traveled relatively everywhere. However, he expects you to write down every word he says, which is nearly impossible. Doesn't use blackboard, so forget any access to online lectures. You aren't allowed to record lectures either. Definitely chose a different class.
Mr Goodman is super funny so lectures were enjoyable. He presents a lot of information but hands out copies of his powerpoints along with study guides. No textbook required. All exams open notes! Extra credit too. I was worried about this class but ended up doing well. He is also very helpful (even gave me a scantron when I forgot one).
This class was difficult, mainly because I'm not great with the GIS program but you will learn everything you need to know before each project. The professors are always there to help and they are very understanding. I would highly recommend this class.
There are no tests just the final. There are a lot of quizzes, map exercises, a web-based assignment, and note exercise assignments you have to do, which are not too bad. You can use your notes for the final and quizzes so TAKE GOOD NOTES! he talks fairly quickly, which can be hard to keep up but overall he's a good professor!
This professor was a very hard grader. It was a lot of work for just a one unit class. Lectures very very dry and boring. The exams were extremely hard even though they are open note. You are graded on two exams and 15 labs. Try to avoid this professor if possible
Do not take this class! Talks very fast during lecture and tests are very difficult.
Okay so English is my second language! His tests are hard and everytime I go to his office to tell him am worried about not passing he'd say don't worry at the end of the semester I was so close but gave me 67! like whattt!!! I was in his office like all the time asking for help. I HAVE NEVER MISSED A CLASS. Did every map quiz yet he didn't help
Test hard! You won't know your grade in class until the end of semester ( where you have to BEG him to know) You have to attend every single class or else your screwed. Do not take this class if you want to keep your GPA high. He does't care at all !
Do not take this class ! that's all I can say
If you are a whiz at the subject of Geography this is the class for you. The Professor is great at giving lectures, and the homework is light. The tests are super difficult and worth a majority of your grade in this class. Take good notes and memorize them if you want to pass.
Really boring class. He just lectures everyday and reads things off that we all already have. Homework is impossible
Professor Goodman gives super great lectures! He is very funny and engaging during class. He knows so much about geography and seems to have been all over the world. There is hardly any homework except for when you receive the study guides. The one thing I did not like about this class was that it was very very test heavy... the exams were too long
I struggled so much in this class. Lectures were boring and he just read off the slide shows. Map quizzes were easy but tests were extremely hard and long. Also, they make up most of your grade. You can use notes on exams but they dont help. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You dont know your grade the whole semester because he doesnt use canvas.
I took Professor Goodman's Geog-121 lab class and he is amazing! Hilarious and really passionate about his class and material. Thoroughly enjoyed his lecture style and open note tests!
He is rude, not a student person, 80 questions in 1hr and 15 min. Does not use canvas. Talks so fast. he gives you a packet(black &white) with a very small maps which you need a microscope to see what's written in the maps. You have to take notes while he's talking. His exams are very hard. THE WORST professor I ever had. AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Professor Goodman has got to be one of the worst teachers I have encountered during my time in college. His tests are worth 80% of your grade. You are allowed to use a study guide on the exams, but rarely anyone passes. You know its a problem with the teacher when students are able to use a study guide and 80% of the class fails.
SDSU student here. I took this guy way back in 2017 when I was at GMont. This professor's class was one of the hardest I've ever taken, even compared to Comp Sci classes. Guy talks way to fast, and the lectures had nothing to do with the tests. The only reason he's able to teach is that he's tenured. Try to take history so you don't have a W. GL!
One of the best professors ever! I would have him as a professor again ever!
Professor Goodman is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point instructor. He takes care to enhance his lessons by incorporating parts of his past experiences in different regions of the world into his lectures and he has a lot of fascinating/funny stories to tell--it makes the class more interesting! Be accountable in class and you will pass.
The amount of stuff he requires you to know is INSANE and most of the test isn't even on the powerpoints or in the lecture. The only reason I got even close to an A was bc we switched to online (covid) so I had more time for the tests. He seems like a nice person, but his class is way way too hard and unreasonable. Avoid at all costs if possible
Absolutely love professor Goodman, he is an amazing teacher. He is hilarious. You wont regret taking his class.
Seriously AVOID if possible. He makes rude jokes and is blatantly rude when you ask a question. Tests are unreasonable to say the least. He isn't true to his office hours. He is rude and a "know it all". One of the worst teachers I've taken at Grossmont. Just avoid and save yourself the STRESS that comes with his class...
I took the lab class online, so it might have been why it was more difficult for me. Somehow I passed with a B, but it was a ton of work- lecture heavy, tests make up most of the grade so you need to study and stay on top of assignments. I loved taking GEO 120 with Christa Farano, but did not enjoy this lab class . Difficult and boring.
Took the lab in person so it was easier- gave a lot of extra credit and honestly most of his exams/labs are found online if you search them up beforehand. The extra credit he gave was pretty nice- he just isn't really accessible outside of class and would take a while to grade stuff.
If you are not a good test taker do not take his classes, all I've had for homework is quizzes and tests.
This class is not for you if you are not a good test taker. All he did was assign quizzes from Canvas every week so he didn't even grade them personally, with no feedback or comments. His lectures were not amusing and were repetitive.
Professor Goodman is hilarious and passionate. The class is lecture-heavy but manageable with the open-note tests and Unstuck study as a helpful study tool. Definitely worth taking.
Goodman was so caring and if you were falling behind he would give you the opportunity to sit in another lecture and get a better grade. He was always there to help answer any questions you may have had. Highly recommend, just be sure to bring your own exam materials for the final!
Goodman is okay. He didn't update the gradebook ONCE this semester (I still don't know my grade....) and he takes off points in your labs for every little thing. But he's a nice guy and does his best to keep you entertained. We went outside a few times which was cool. You'll have 1 midterm, 13 labs, and 1 final. All open note.
This professor is a horrible communicator, his lectures are mind numbingly dull, the quizzes have long questions, and often the answers aren't even in the lectures. For an online class, the notes had to be handwritten and submitted through Canvas, "if you have bad handwriting you will get an F." I believe he has no clue how to be a teacher.
Really nice guy, but not a great professor. Takes forever to grade assignments making it hard to figure out what grade you have in the class. Lost a majority of the labs I turned in and had them marked as missing for weeks until he found them RIGHT before the end of semester. Please don't take this class.
