Difficult to understand him as he has an accent.
his ascend make him little hard to understand, but still he is a very good teacher, he make calculus is for you
little hard understand with his ascend, but still he is one of the best math teachers at GSU
better than any other calculus teacher at gsu
He's great! Really concerned that you do well and understand the concepts. It's not a free ride, but he'll help get you ready for Cal. I. I hope I'm lucky enough to get him again
Great Teacher. He teaches the material with ease and he knows his stuff. The class is fairly difficult itself but he knows his stuff. Just come to class and learn the material and you should do fine. Pay attention to the examples he puts on the board. 70% of the time it's on the test.
Grinshpon does have an accent, but its not hard to understand, really. For 1113 everything is through course compass so homework/tests/quizzes are all pretty easy. Taking notes are helpful-- he's a really good teacher; knows his stuff! I didn't open the book once this semester, everything is online... don't waste your money getting the book!
Grinshpon is a fairly good teacher, although coursecompass does most of the teaching. He teaches interactively, which I believe is best for math. His accent is understandable if you really listen. He tries to be funny sometimes and it doesn't work, so he's really hilarious. Easy to zone out during class and fall asleep or do something else.
Horrible teacher.Hard to understand.Messed up more than he got right.Have 4 test and 3 excel projects. He doesnt go over how to do the excel projects either.Your screwed.Don't take!!
very profession, possesses great teaching gift and interpersonal skills. always eager to help during the office hours.
Calc 2 material is hard. He explains it very well though. His lectures are worth attending because the book is useless. His quizzes are harder than the tests. For quizzes, he gives you one free hint/answer. He grades leniently. The HARD final is written by the dept and he doesn't grade it. I enjoyed his class. He has a good sense of humor too,
Actually I found the book as very important after every lecture. he is not easy because calc 2 is not easy. he just grades the tests the way hes supposed to but you'll get partial credit for doing anything thats relevant. he makes everything clear to students, very funny guy and extremely helpful. in class and office. highly recommend him.G-luck
I think he's a great professor but I hate math. We also had 3 programming projects but he's extremely helpful with any question you may find hard. Pop quizzes were either take home or group work. No study guides but his tests are basically verbatim what you do in class and homework. You have take notes and practice.
Attending class is mandatory for a passing grade. Tests are fair and the quizzes on Wiley plus are not fair because he allows only one attempt and the answers has to be EXACT. He is a good lecturer & really humorous if you listen closely. His notes are very organized and neat. He explains everything clearly even tho his russian accent isnt.
Mr.Grishphon is a nice guy and always eager to answer all the questions. His notes are extremely helpful and straightforward, so make sure u attend class meetings and write them down. Don't buy the textbook, just purchase the online code. One of my fav class. He's a great teacher despite his accent
The class was hard because the material was hard. However, Dr. Grinshpon made it easy to understand with his super detailed notes, which also helped when it came time to study for tests and final. Missing a class will make it hard to catch up. We had 8 pop quizzes, 4 tests, and the final which is HARD. If you have to take this class, take him!! :)
The BEST Calculus I teacher, PERIOD! You'd be crazy to take anyone else, but this is a very hard class and you can't miss a single day or you'll do miserably on the exam. Buy the txt book, and do even & odd problems. The MAC lab has the solution manual for even and odds. I got an A+ but it was with MANY hrs of hard work and a great Prof. Good luck
Amazing teacher. Yeah, he has a very thick Russian accent, but his English is perfect, so it's not that hard to understand. Take notes in class word for word and forget about reading the book; his notes are much more helpful. Do the work, ALL OF IT, and go to the SI sessions and you'll pass this class no prob.
He is an awesome teacher, and gives great notes. You will have to put in a lot of time and effort, and if you do you should be fine. It is hard, but I can't imagine that there is a better teacher.
A good teacher, gives good notes on the material, but I wished he had more examples relating to problems in the book. Has plenty of office hours so make use of those. The only negative aspect is that he yells and gets kind of irritated when you go for help and have no idea what he's talking about or when you can't grasp the concept of the material.
Very good teacher. Adds humor to his lectures. If you put in the time doing homework and studying, you should do very well. SI helps too. Online quizzes were kind of tricky with the format your answers should be in. The four tests and final were easier than the online quizzes though. Also has old tests/finals to practice on uLearn which help a lot.
His grading is silly. He marks off for the stupidest things. He doesn't really care if you understand the material, he only seems to care if your notation is 100% correct. He let's things go with some students and marks off for the same thing on other students papers. So you better hope he likes you.
Good teacher, will go off on you if you forget precalculus stuff so make sure you know all o it. He gives a lot of extra credit which is a plus and he is funny. If you do all youre work for his class you will pass with a good grade. :)
Dr. Grinshpon is an AMAZING teacher. He is so helpful and always willing to help. Anybody who has anything negative to say is clearly lazy. You MUST do the homework and attend class, and you will finish with a good grade. He is by far my favorite teacher ever.
He's SO mean! Esp. if you don't remember precal! He takes off points alot. 5 pts of extra credit built into every test. He's a great teacher. I would take him again. And I didn't really remember a lot of precal but I still got an A. Go to the help sessions & SI
he's actually pretty mean, he's always making comments and makes you feel bad if you don't know something!!
Strict teacher. Calculus two is a hard class not matter who you take. But just know that this teacher expects you to know everything about precal when coming into this class. I don't regret taking this class because it makes me feel more prepared for cal 3, got a B+ and earned it. Always show up or you will miss important information for test.Do HW
Professor G, IS THE BEST math teacher I have ever had. I knew nothing about Calc failed it once before but with Professor G he helped me through. He is a good guy and I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM ANYTIME! Also defend his teaching methods!
DO NOT TAKE!!! THERE ARE BETTER TEACHERS!
I had him for calc 1 and I thought he was a great teacher. If I hadn't been so lazy with homework I would have gotten an A. He can be pretty snarky at times, but if you pay attention in class he gives really good notes.
He's one of the Worst and Best.Best because his notes are very well done and understandable, Worst because he's very very mean, Can't grade properly,NEVER ever gives any Test review. Before test u have to practice all the problems from all chapters cuz u never know what he's gonna give in the test. Tho I got an A- i wud say DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!
Dr. Grinshpon is a great teacher, one of my favorite teachers ever. And I actually found him very nice and willing to help. My advice is not to miss any classes and come to his office hours when you have questions. And don't get scared by the horror stories you hear about Calc II - with this teacher, it's totally doable.
He can analytically break down ideas where it is easier to understand. He is not necessarily a hard teacher because he grades test through partial credit and a rubric. Going to office hours is a must if you don't understand ideas but make sure you understand basic concepts (cal 1&2) or he might get frustrated. Great teacher.
4 Tests, 1 Final, numerous quizzes (take-home and inclass group); lowest quiz grade gets dropped, Final is averaged with lowest test grade (assuming it's higher than lowest test grade); homework is optional but highly recommended; heavy Russian accent; idiot-proofed notes; LONG test/quiz problems; highly recommended professor
Don't miss class. Each class you'll use about 8 pages of notes. You have to get used to his accent. Some find him annoying, some find him funny. His notes are the best. He goes fast tho. This class requires hard work out of class. Study, practice, go to office hours, and study some more. He doesn't give us study guides, but he gives us old tests.
He is a great teacher, but can come across as a little rude sometimes. He provides very detailed notes with worked examples and offers many opportunities for extra credit. He made himself very available and constantly kept the class updated on events via email. The content is pretty difficult so studying outside of class is a must.
He is an outstanding professor when it comes to explaining the material; however, he had very high expectations of his students. Must know your precalculus or he will get an attitude with you. If your weak in math or do not want to be challenged take someone else.
Dr. Grinshpon is my Calculus legendary hero. He will come off as very strict and mean but take his sarcasm as his sense of humor. If he's hard on you, it means he believe in you and wants you to succeed. With that being said, he gives the best notes and is available to students in office and over the email. Outside studying is heavily recommended.
Dr. Grinshpon is amazing!! Of course he can be a little abrasive sometimes, but just stay off your phone, and he won't bother you haha. Summer semester had three exams, one final, 10 or less homeworks, class attendance and participation. He always curves! His notes are detailed but EXTREMELY HELPFUL! This is a hard class so expect outside effort.
Dr. Grinshpon is my least favorite math professor I have ever had, and I've had a lot. He's rude and obnoxious. I still made a high grade in his class, but I would not recommend taking him at all.
Great teacher who is always willing to help. He gives you the test format as part of your study utensils and takes questions from the homework. Do the homework and you'll be fine.
He is arguably one the best math teacher in Georgia state. He gives good notes and sometimes even types them for you goes over example in class that will be on the exam. Overall I cannot think of anything negative to say of him.
Professor Grinshpon is the best math professor that I've had. Very clean and clear notes. He is accessible through office hours and explains concepts that you may have missed. However, make sure you know your pre-calc and algebra before starting the class. He will embarrass you if you don't.
Dr. Grinshpon is one of the best math professors at GSU! His notes are very good and explains the conceptual part of mathematics very well. He answers everyone's questions in his best ability. He gave quizzes that were in-class and take home quizzes. Tests were very long but everything that was covered in the quizzes. TAKE HIM!
He is the best CAL 3 teacher you could ever have! 4 test, lots of homework and grades for attendance. Take him!
Best calculus professor ever, extremely helpful, cares a lot about his students and their success. Its really hard to understand him in class, so PLEASE go to his office hours he will never turn you away, he is really nice despite his rude manner!!! You will never find a better professor.we had 3 exams and a final, I failed an exam & still got an A
One Word: Awesome! I had him for Calc 3 and now Differential Equations, I did not regret it. He explained the concepts very throughly. I feel asleep because it was in the summer and he had office hours to help you out with any concerns. You need to know your Precalculus! Dr. Grinshpon is one of the best math professors at GSU! You have to take him.
He is the best math professor i have ever had; however, you need to get use to his accent. But he writes every single words on the board. Overall, very very good professor.
Good character. Good teacher, nice stuff.
good teacher
Dr. Grinshpon is simply the best math professor you can possibly get. Lectures are always clear and are exaplained in detail if needed. You will be given tons of opportunities to truly understand the material, if math is not your thing. Come to his office, participate, and have fun with this guy. He is super intelligent, witty, and fun.
Know your algebraprecalc lest you want him to make you feel stupid! He does give take-home tests if you didn't do so well on his in-class ones. If you go to the MAC, maybe have a solid group that you can do HW with, and practice the problems, you should be ok.
He is a pretty chill guy. If you go to class and do the things he lays out for you, you will do well in the class. He is also very helpful. Really good professor!
Professor Grinshpon was extremely helpful and clear in his lectures. He assigns two projects during the semester and they each took about 15 minutes to complete. He doesn't remind you of when the online homework is due, but as long as you are organized and independent, you should get an A.
This is my 4th time taking a class with Dr. Grinshpon and I am glad I took Linear Algebra with him. He made the class interesting. He always took his time to explain the concepts clearly and is always there if you need him. The quizzes he gave out were fair because they test your concepts. He knows Linear Algebra very well! YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM!
Don't take the class MWF.
Best math teacher at GSU. He's extremely helpful. He's not like other teacher's that get mad when you ask questions. He genuinely wants to help and see you do well. Just to add this dude is a genius on top of all of that. Take him!! He's perfection. I'm taking him this semester for Bridge and he's by far the best teacher I've had so far at GSU.
I took him for trigonometry, and overall, he was an alright teacher. He is a cold shoulder, thick accented, devoted to math professor. He'll make you feel stupid if you don't know how to do something that he considers simple. The tests weren't hard, but it's a class that you have to study for. Also, you must memorize a full page worth of formulas!
Here's the thing with Dr. Grinshpon, the guy loves teaching and he's really good at it. That doesn't mean he's going to give you A's for 'trying' to learn. He grades based on if you know the material or not. He's training THINKERS and STUDENTS. If you are one of those people, you will do well. If you are not, look out.
If you're in math for the long run take him, if this is for something like an undergrad. Req. Don't do it. He makes you work for anything higher than a B. A ton of homework, and his lectures made sense in class but later I wouldn't be able to recall any of it. He's good at what he does though, and can make you feel stupid for not being mathliterate
Very passionate guy, has an accent, gives very clear lectures and provides many examples. Can be harsh with his comments on tests and such, but is an overall nice dude. Really helps you learn the material. Tests were pretty easy.
I took him in Spring 2012 he was such a great instructor that I believe he was the best teacher of all time, even though I am science major. He is very professional and oh man has good memory of his students. If you love math or don't you need to take him. Highly recommended
As goes for any math class, especially calculus, you need to show up and study unless you're just naturally good at math. I actually got dropped from this class because of some error the school made, and i started to freak out. However, Dr. Grinshpon actually cares, and I got into the correct math class. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
He is the sharpest professors Ive ever had at GSU. Crazy smart. If you really want to understand the material take him. He puts a lot of effort into preparing for his lectures. Also, he curved most tests without telling he did so. You can make an A or A+ in his classes but you'll have to work for it. Do the syllabus HW he assigns.
First of all, that accent was very hard for me to understand. His lectures were real long and boring and coupled with his accent, it just made the whole ordeal unbearable. Don't take the honors section because you have 4 digital assignments with this useless overcomplicated computer program. It's a lot of work learning the program and again useless
He is probably my favorite professor ever. Most of the problems from his tests are exactly like the Study Guide questions he assigns. He also gives a lot extra credit on take-home/pop quizzes and adds 10 extra points to each test! Amazing! I highly recommend him.
Never taken calc before, but went to every single tutoring session he had. Go see him for any and all your questions, he's overly helpful and really cares about his students. Pop quizzes aren't that bad. Gives take home quizzes too. As the department chair, he is big on concepts and definitions and grades tough, but each test has 10 bonus points.
It takes a few lectures to get used to his accent. He does go fast and doesn't stop much to explain properly. However, if you ask questions, he will take the time to answer. Lots of quizzes and tests. Like most Calculus classes, you have to work for your grade.
He really cares about his students and wants to see you pass. Lots of online homework and take home quizzes. Some pop quizzes but they're not that bad. His tests are usually easier than the study guides. He curves the tests without telling his students. Some extra-credit. You need to put in effort to pass, especially if you haven't taken calc yet
I think Dr. Grinshpon is one of the best professors at GSU. I constantly encourage people to take him. Word of warning: there is a quiz the first day of class if you do poorly he will email you to say you should drop the class. Also, don't play on your phones he will make you set your phone on the front desk or ask you to leave. He is a great guy.
Dr. G is an awesome professor! It's obvious he's very passionate about math and loves teaching. He's great at explaining difficult concepts and really makes an effort to help his students understand them. I had him for both Calc I and Calc II, and I'm praying he teaches Calc III so I can take him. (Make sure you have mastered your precalc, though!)
He helps you understand the concepts clearly and I would highly recommend him. His study guides really help to get an A on tests.
Dr. Grinshpon is a great professor. He ensures that everything is clear, and he teaches in a way that is easily understandable. I always highly recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Grinshpon is an amazing professor. His lectures are clear. He always explains the "why" of math. Take notes in class and go to his office hours. Ask questions! He will answer them. He is very forthright. It's constructive criticism. Overall, he is passionate about teaching math. He will tell you to drop if you don't seem ready.
He's the best math teacher I've come across in my 18 years of life. He is very passionate and caring towards his students. As long as you attend lectures and pay attention in class, you should be fine. He is also great about providing help outside of class.
Great professor, smart professor. He wants you to succeed but he will make you work for it. He genuinely cares for his students as long as you are respectful and do your job as a student. Just don't use your phone in class or he'll happily give you the boot ;) If you do the work, you'll be fine.
best professor. His tests are to the point with extra credit. He only makes sure we know all the concepts, if we do, its an easy A. There is plenty of homework but it weighs as much as a test grade so its worth it. Also, Homework grade is an easy 100. most of the quizzes are take-home quizzes. He gives extra credit on the quizzes too.
Yeah, ok, some students think he's kind of scary but I swear it's just cuz he expects a lot out of you and knows your capable of succeeding but knows when you're slacking. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. The thick accent takes a couple classes to get accustomed to, but he's incredibly clear in his explanations and has a sarcastic sense of humor.
One of my favorite profs ever! He's funny, gives 10 bonus points extra credit (through take-home problems) for each test, and heavily weighs online homework. He genuinely cares about his students and makes calculus simple.
He has a very strict no electronics policy and will embarrass you if he catches you. But it is for your own good. His lectures are very simple and easy to follow. Tests and take home quizzes are also fairly easy if you study and come to class. There are some pop quizzes but they arent too bad. It is definitely very easy to make an A.
His lectures are extremely important; he covers so much every class. If you miss one lecture, it's going to be hard. If you miss two, you might be doomed. With that being said, his lectures are AMAZING, and he is an INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR. If you are looking for a MODERN ALGEBRA classes (and probably any class), I will definitely ADVISE TO TAKE HIM!!
One of my favorite professors at GSU. Definitely would recommend if you're hard working
I would not recommend taking him over the summer. He is a very good lecturer, but with the speed of the class over the summer, it is very difficult to get an A in the class, even if you attend lectures and do all the homework (like I did). He is very understanding of situations, and is willing to work with you if you put effort into his class.
This class (calc 2) is a lot of work. If you don't know all your calc 1 fundamental do not take this teacher. You will do fine with most other math teachers but mark likes to teach as if the class is full of math majors who should know every specific detail about everything. Unreasonably high standards. I would never take him again.
Dr Grinshpon is a good teacher. Many people believe that Calc 2 is the hardest out of all the calculus classes from 1-3, so blaming the teacher is not always the best excuse. There is a lot that goes on in one class day so don't even think about skipping. Overall, he is a great but Calc 2 can be hard.
He's very hard on the students, but it's because he wants them to understand what they are learning, not just memorize formulas. However, be careful: Don't sit in the front row, he doesn't believe in deodorant.
Amazing professor! If you are not a cabbage, you will pass. If you are not a pigeon, you will get an easy B. And finally, if you are not a goose, you will get an easy A.
Gives out TOO MANY pop quizzes. There are NO take home quizzes. He doesn't do extra credit for the test. He makes fun of people. Electronics and cell phones are not allowed. He has thick accent. His tests are very hard, even if you study and practice for it. All the other calculus professors give out extra credit, EXCEPT THIS TEACHER.
Truly the best professor, very intelligent. People who complain about this class have poor study habits. Its calculus II what are you expecting? Make sure to have adequate prerequisite knowledge from college algebra, pre-calc, and calc 1. His study guides give a clear cut indication of what will be on the exams. Extra-credit offered as well.
Dr. Grinshpon is an amazing Calc II teacher. Sit in the front, put away your phone (or he'll take care of it for you), and get ready to learn some serious math.
The best math professor I've ever had in my life. He explains things REALLY well, and he deeply cares about students, but he's VERY hard and WILL yell at you if you don't answer his questions. He wants you to LEARN the material. There are VERY, VERY few people WORTHY enough to take from him. If you've ever taken his class, you know what I mean.
His class was great. He knew how to explain the material and he was available outside of class if you emailed him. He is willing to take the time to make sure you understand the concepts.
He really knows what he's teaching and he really wants kids to learn the material. However, if you don't dedicate at least 2 hours a day at home to practice the material, don't take his class. His tests are difficult if you don't. He also moves really fast-paced, so if you miss class, good luck catching up. All of his quizzes are also pop quizzes.
This man is a genius. One of the best professors at GSU. Highly recommend taking any/all calculus sequence classes from him. Work hard and not only will you pass, you'll developed a love and appreciation of Calculus and Mathematics. Also
Just make sure you don't have your phone even out in class, and he'll be kind to you. The difficulty is pretty standard as far as Calc III classes go. His tests don't deviate too much from what he has taught and practiced in class or given for homework, so they are not bad.
He's a good professor. Very accessible through email and office hours. Don't skip the class or have your phone out. Make sure you pay attention. He makes you work for the class.
Dr. Grinshpon is a solid choice for anyone who really wants to learn. He cares greatly about students learning the material. His big push from day one is to not focus on the grade, don't focus on the easy way out. Focus on learning the material and the grade you want will come as a side effect of it. I've enjoyed the class. Well worth the struggle!
He is a competent Professor and very willing to give additional help. If you truly work on learning the material, good grades will follow. Otherwise, you're going to have a bad time **I would not recommend taking him (or any other Calculus class) over the summer. I truly enjoy math but this class went so fast it was hard to grasp the concepts.
He seems harsh at first and he portrays himself like that, but he cares about the students' grades. He is very helpful during reviews before the tests. As long as you pay attention in class, do all the homework, and practice his study guides you'll get an A.
He is really good at teaching but you will have to pay attention and work if you want a good grade in the class.
Great instructor. Teaches math really well and gives lots of support during the semester. DO NOT USE YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN CLASS. It wastes yours, and your classmate's time, and he will call you out if you are distracting in class. If you do the work and study, you will pass this class.
He yell's at his students and isn't good at his job. It was very difficult for me to try and approach him because he is very intimidating. He does teach math well but it is very hard to understand his accent and he goes very fast.
Difficulty? Medium. HW? Easy 100. Quizzes? Easy A's. The tests are what trip people up. Paying attention in class will REALLY help. The practice tests will determine how you do. If you can do the SI ones you'll at least pass. If you can do the online ones you'll get an A. The catch is that they're long. Do them early & go to SI with questions.
Prof. Grinshpon is just a really good teacher. He'll spend as much time as you need to make sure you understand the material. He cares about Calculus and he cares about his students, so there's not much more you can ask for. I 100% would take a class of his again. He has a thicc Russian accent, but I'm from Georgia and I understood him fine.
Dr. Grinshpon would attack me indirectly in class so I never felt comfortable. He has a very intricate sense of sarcasm and humor. His tests were very long. Some free response, some multiple choice and true/false. You definitely need to learn Calculus 1 perfectly to master Calculus 2. There are a lot of pop quizzes and homework on WebAssign.
Five tests throughout the year. Easy to independently work in that class
Solid Teacher. This class requires you to PRACTICE in order to get an A. The homework's, though tedious and long, actually come through and contribute as a solid portion of your final grade. He won't fail you, if you try.
Overall good teacher, comes off as intimidating but he cares. Prereq quiz on first day of class. Pop quizzes that end up being easier than expected. 4 tests, plus final which replaces one test. Show up to class, pay attention, do study guides for tests and you'll get an A. Study guides are very much like the tests. Don't use electronics in class.
TAKE HIM. He is a great professor and really cares about your grade. He goes over the slides and practice problems that will be on the test. If you meet him in his office hours, he will help you understand the concept very well. Although he is a tough grader, he gives out a lot of extra credit. He is a gem!
Definitely the BEST teacher I have had in so long. Sure, calc is challenging but with him it is literally difficult to do poorly. He covers EVERYTHING before the exam so if you do bad it's really no ones fault but your own because all of the test questions are almost identical to the study guide. Plus, he is always giving extra credit!
Would highly recommend Dr. Grinshpon if you actually want to learn calculus. Enforces prerequisites (algebra, trig, etc...), definitely know your fundamentals before taking the class. Teaches the material very well and the study guides more than prepare you for the tests. Be a grown up, do the homework, pay attention and you will make an A.
This professor is absolutely amazing. Be sure to show up to class because attendance is mandatory, but know that his lectures are excellent. Also, he makes sure concepts are understood by his students.
Please avoid this professor at any cost. You don't want to put yourself through hell.
Dr. Grinshpon was a great teacher that really made an effort to be clear and concise in his teaching. Taking his class as a retake from a previous attempt at Calc I with another teacher, it was a breath of fresh air to be in his class. He does few examples, but teaches the main concepts. If not for my own personal decisions, I would have had a B.
He is a great professor and gives lengthy but extremely helpful study guides prior to tests. He definitely makes you work for your grade but is extremely helpful. Go to office hours!!!
I enjoyed having him as a professor, and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to truly learn. He goes through his lectures VERY thoroughly. I felt like I was never behind in his class and liked that he took the time to explain concepts. He is also very accessible outside of class and seems to enjoy helping students understand the material.
Professor Grinshpon is probably one of the best professors at GSU. He's extremely witty and can teach well, but is also strict at times. His lectures require attendance are very engaging. He seems scary at first but that's only because he wants the students to be disciplined. His no-phone policy is reasonable. Would definitely take his class again!
At first everything online was good until he was behind on posting his video lectures; he would post before quizzes and exams which does not give us time to soak in the information. There was suppose to be multiple course projects but he only gave us one. His lectures are good and he is quick to answer emails but his timing was off.
Dont get me wrong, hes a great professor. I learned a lot from his lectures, but this *online* summer course was v stressful. A lot of his lectures werent spaced out well & we didnt finish the content. But dont let this sway you away from him. I can tell he cares bc hes welcoming in his office hrs & gives great feedback. He even gave out EC.
He's okay. Online transition was rough and his explanations are drawn out. I'm sure there are better professors and would try to take someone else. However, if he's the only one left, you should be fine.
Dr. Grinshpon is a one of the best teachers I have ever had at GSU. Calculus is one class that takes a lot of practice, and even though that this class is online b/c of the pandemic, he still knows how to help each individual be able to grasp the material. He is 10/10 approachable. I would take Dr. Grinshpon any day.
He's a really friendly professor! Be prepared for online lectures (about 2 hours) every week in addition to normal class. His videos and lectures are really straight forward, if you watch all of them and do the worksheets the tests and quizzes will be super easy. There's a decent amount of WebAssign homework, but the due dates are spaced out good.
Grinshpon is literally the worst professor you could ask for. Don't fall for that 4.3 rating, it is egregiously misleading. His explanation skills are horrid, and he overcomplicates simple concepts. His study guides aren't very helpful because the tests are pretty difficult, while the study guide is fairly easy compared to the test. DO NOT take him
I wouldn't listen to all those shade throwers! Dr. Grinshpon is the best teacher at GSU and that's a fact. Calculus is not an easy subject if you don't keep up with your end of the deal. Dr. Grinshpon's tests are fairly simple if you pay attention in class and actively study. If you don't work for it, how can you expect a good grade in class?
I never took calc before and I thought it was hard. In the groupme the people who took calc before in high school tend to do really well and liked him. While he is a good professor for others, how he breaks up material, explaining ,and teaching style wasn't for me. He will help in office hours, he can come off as harsh and scary in lectures.
Honest review, If you take the lectures seriously and do your work you can get an easy A. However, what I did not like about the class was we had to watch 1-2 hours of pre-lecture videos before the main lecture which doesn't make any sense. You have to invest a lot of time especially if you have no idea about calc. Tests are similar to study guides
Dr. Grinshpon is a SUPER kind hearted person, even if everything was online. He answered all questions & emails, & made sure his students understood him during class. This is important for math. Calculus does require practice, so there is a lot of lecture & homework. However if you can take him, sign up for his class. You wont regret it :)
I honestly loved this class. His lectures were easy to understand and his tests weren't hard if you watched every lecture. He responds to emails at the speed of light. He curved every test including the final, dropped two lowest quizzes and 4 lowest homework grades. It's not that hard to get an A in his class. The Final was a BREEZE. TAKE HIS CLASS
Math is not my strongest subject, the class was good. He was a good teacher his lectures are lengthy, if you take this class expect to put a lot of time studying and learning the material outside of class. He does give many extra credit opportunities though which is nice. Overall a good class just slightly stressful and time-consuming,
he was horrible online. it was hard to contact him through email and hard to keep up with what he was saying in his lectures. not welcoming at all and was not understanding of situations. his "extra credit" doesn't really do anything to your average because he doesn't use it the traditional way. his study guides are NOTHING like the test. AVOID HIM
First Time taking Calc. He is a solid prof. Do the assignments early especially the first week and watch the pre-lecture 1-2hrs before lecture. He designed it so the students taking it first time can learn. So when the tests come you can focus on the study guide!!!! He will make you work for your grade. Might seem mean but no that bad actually
So glad I never have to take this class again. He's very smart-alecy when you ask a question. 4+ hours of pre-recorded lectures each week. Study guides are 15+ pages long and take forever to do. Not enough time to answer all test questions. GO TO SI SESSIONS. Office hours are helpful. The only thing I like about this class is that I'm done with it.
If you do not know youre prerequisite material you will not pass. He is very adamant about knowing these before taking his class. A bit hard to understand but lectures are posted online so you can watch many times.
He is a nice professor, you only need to complete your homework weekly and watch his lectures. He replies to your emails rather quick, in case you have doubts or even for other matter.
he makes you work for it but he's a nice guy
The high rating kind of fooled me. There are better options. this professor doesn't offer any extra credit on exams. had to grind hard for my grade.
Professor was completely unhelpful when I had a conflict with another final in a different class, despite letting him know that I could not reach the other professor. He told me his test took precedence, and basically that it wasn't his problem that I'd fail one of the classes because I can't be in two finals at one time.
Very rude and condescending towards students, even when asked questions to clarify information. He once called our class "morons" because we did not do well one the first quiz of the semester.
He's a very good teacher and I recommend anyone who's planning on taking his course. If you do your homework and watch the videos he gives, you will 100% pass his class with an A. He's really sweet if you have any questions and makes little jokes during class. He goes over the material and good examples to help you fully understand the concepts.
Excellent lecturer for difficult subjects. There is extra credit available. Do the homework right and it will prepare you for the test well. TAKE NOTES, the lectures are a gem, and are very good for teaching you the subject.
Awesome class, and awesome professor. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class. Lots of material available to study. Tests are like the study guide. If you attend lecture, do the homework, and watch the videos, then you should be good. Lots of extra credit on quizzes. Stresses the importance of knowing formulas, but its all for the best. A 10/10.
Nice person but really mean professor. His lectures are fast paced & he expects us to watch so many hours of videos before the actual lecture. Absolutely no curves or extra credit which seems inconsiderate seeing how hard this class is. A bad test grade will ruin you no matter how well you did on everything else. Avoid him if you struggle w/ math.
Definitely a hard professor for those who struggle with math. Expected you to watch at least 4 or 5 hour+ long videos every week to review for lectures. His exams are basically identical to his study guides, but he can go through material so quickly that you lose track of what you've learned. No extra credit/curves on the three exams/final
This teacher is great if you make sure to take notes and plan the watch some videos. It seems like a pain but its worth it because if you keep up you will learn. Also the tests tend to be easier than the homework and study guide
Professor Grinshpon is an excellent lecturer. His classes and lecture videos are engaging. He is easily accessible outside of class, and he answers emails fast too. If you watch the assigned lecture videos, do the homework and worksheets, and attend office hours, it won't be hard to get a good grade.
Expects you to watch at least an hour of video lectures before EVERY class and, then has a quiz on them every week. His teaching style is way to fast and is very easy to get lost. Choose a different professor
Attendance is not mandatory however he does not tell you what day of the week your quiz will be and he gives them out 2-3 minutes before class is over (weekly quizzes). He expects you to watch multiple hour-long lectures every week before his classes w/ lectures. His class will get you the grade you want but it is very tedious and lacks flexibility
The best professor I've ever had. He is an amazing lecturer, but will make you work for your A. Watch the video lectures, attend lectures and fully complete the exam study guides! Is adamant about having a solid foundation in Algebra and Pre-cal. He is very accessible outside of class and genuinely cares about his students. Take him if you can!!
He super funny and nice, overall great personality. He is very accommodating and quick to respond; sometimes I worry he doesn't get a break lol. The difficulty comes naturally with the course, but he wants you to be well-versed in pre-reqs. Study guides are very nice with LOTS of problems with different variations. Lectures are very clear.
Professor is very kind and so understanding. Attendance is not mandatory but GO! He posts all of his notes and videos to icollege. He responds to email pretty fast and is willing to help you in every way. His study guides are GOATED so make sure to do them! Yes you need to put in effort but this is calc 2 what did you expect?
Very fantastic teacher. He's knowledgeable about the subject of Calculus and cares that you learn. His classes are very lecture heavy but helpful nonetheless.
--> summer course, 3hrs/day, 2/week
I'm Dr.Grinshpon's #1 fan! He gives clear and detailed lectures, on top of that he provides SO MANY resources to ensure students can succeed in the course, such as lecture notes, lecture videos, lecture video notes, and study guides. If you need to take Calc courses, go to Dr.Grinshpon's class!!!!
Seems strict but if you put in the work and aren't a distraction in class (especially looking at your phone lol), then you'll get by easily. I highly recommend watching his video lectures at home and taking notes on them the day before the in-person lecture.
I took Dr. G's calc I class over the summer - despite the heavy content and me not being up to date on the prerequisites his class never felt hopeless. He's an excellent lecturer and I never felt lost in class like I have with other professors. I never actually watched his videos and was fine - but I'd recommend feeling it out first.
The GOAT. He's a really cool guy and he's really intent on his students understanding the material. His notes are top tier and very thorough, and during his lectures he elaborates on everything. HWs build off of lectures. No surprises from his testing material; everything you are tested on, he has shown you, whether it be in HW of in class notes.
If you want to be treated with respect and not deal with a rude professor, then find a different professor for your math. He also has a terrible Russian accent, which is even worst because he speaks too fast and you barely understand him.
This is the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He has a terrible accent that nobody can understand. His hand-writing is genuinely worse than a 5-year-olds too, which means you can't look at the notes online. Everything you study for has to be completely by yourself, he will be no help. NOBODY CHOOSE THIS TEACHER!
WORST PROF EVER. Heavy accent + illegible writing/work. 2 pop-quizzes/wk. Long weekly HWs going at a diff pace than class content. Very few exams (3), all very difficult. Very unforgiving w retakes/makeups despite valid reasons. In short, his class is 2 lect/wk made pointless bc of pre-assigned prelecture vids that cover the same topics as lecture.
Nice teacher but a heavy grader. 3 tests one final and he grades hard on one of the tests himself others are done by the TAs. No extra Credit or anything. Almost have to study every day. Lectrues are good. If you study you can actually get a good grade if you don't study you won't nothing comes without putting the work.
Lecture heavy, but every topic is discussed, which I appreciated. Test are hard but in my experience, he will find a way to give you points for the problem set up and work, which is super nice considering I've had professors who will NOT. Anytime I had to ask a question he was available, and his jokes in lecture lightened the mood. Overall great!
Yes, he has an accent, however this was not a learning barrier since everything he says he writes on the board, the publishes the notes after. Attendance is not graded, but there are quizzes randomly in class, so it's better to show up. He always answered my questions promptly, and he can be tough, but trust me I understand Calc after this class.
The BEST professor I ever had. It is a tough class but I could get good grades on tests because of his lectures. He went through everything during the class and even posted lecture videos on icollege. Attendance is not included in grades but we have quiz once a week so you better to show up to class. 10/10 recommend!!!
This class takes up a lot of your time, esp if you're not good at math(like me). But the professor is amazing at explaining the concepts. I absolutely hate math but he made the journey less miserable by being a great professor. Just make sure to pay attention during lectures, especially if you have a quiz at the end of class.
Terrible professor. Would highly reccomend taking the class with any professor EXCEPT him. Strong accent so lectures are quite confusing, difficult to read hadnwriting, and does not display every concept in a clear manner. Very unforgiving on extra credit as well as test credit.
Worst professor I have ever had in my life. His lectures are fast paced & he expects to watch so many hours of videos before the actual lecture. No help at all, very rude. I am surprised the high rating that he received.
Dr. Grinshpon was genuinely one of the best professors I've had. All the ratings about his accent are ridiculous. He does have an accent but it is small and still really easy to understand him - don't blame your inability to study on him just because he's "foreign". You do have to study but his tests are almost exactly like the study guides!
He is funny. It was hard for me first; however, it got easier eventually. His tests included everything in the study guides. He can be mean sometimes because he doesn't let us use calculators to do quizzes. Overall, he is a good teacher.
Best math teacher I've ever had!! It was hard at first because his handwritting and accent, but I got used to them and class got a lot easier. Lectures were boring for me, but he covers all the topic well and posts all notes online. Tests are curved. Fast with emails. Very strict and can seem mean sometimes.
The class was pretty easy in my opinion. He is a little sarcastic sometimes, but he is also funny. He just wants you to pay attention in class. The class is a lot easier if you have him for recitation too because he'll explain everything to you. The study guides are basically the same as the tests. Homework doesn't take that long either.
Great professor, as long as you do your work, you'll be fine in this class. He has lecture videos online that he'll want you to watch before class. Goes over a lot of practice problems. Make sure to read over class notes and do the study guides before tests. No quizzes in recitation; he makes us do it in class, but doesn't say when they are.
The amount of work this professor demands is insane. He makes you watch over 20+ hours worth of videos, 10-hour homework assignments, and do a really difficult and long study guide. Avoid at all costs.
Definitely one of the better teachers I've had in terms of teaching, but just an overall heavy workload class. Also he doesn't give test corrections vs. other profs, but the tests weren't that bad. I'd take him again just cus he's good at teaching & funny. Don't take him if you expect an easy class though since he expects a lot of outside work
Every other teacher does test corrections expect him. Worst professor at GSU.
Very tough class. Make sure to study outside of class, every week. The teacher provides with pre-recorded video lectures for each topic, and I recommend watching those since they give you a better understanding of questions that may be on the test. Do the study guides, every single question! I didn't do either thing and I barely survived the class.
Best calc prof. you can get. Material is very well laid out and extremely organized on iCollege. Gives lots of extra credit- all tests and quizzes give ~5 pts of extra credit. Most difficult aspect was by far the amount of HW, but if you don't start it last minute it is manageable. He's very funny, and kind as long as you dont ask stupid questions.
He really cares about his student's success and he's also a great explainer. He will go off on you if you're on your phone in class. He is VERY accessible outside of office hours. In fact, he will even respond to emails on Saturday and Sundays! He's a great lecturer, and makes an inhearantly difficult subject somewhat managable. I would take him.
If you want to ruin your GPA, then take him.
He's not the worst professor that I've had. He's really strict about using phones and laptops in class so just keep that in mind. As long as you study the class notes and watch his lecture videos for a better understanding, you'll pass the class.
So he is a really good teacher, if you pay attention youll do well but the amount of work he requires you to do outside of class is crazy. if you do all the work he demands you to do then youll get an ez A but if you dont youll get a solid B. dont go to class? youll fail
unless you wanna fail, do not take him. if he sees you are on your cell phone, he will literally embarrass you in front of the entire class.
This professor gives more work than the total amount of coursework in a PHD program.
This professor is determined to make his class the most unfair and difficult class in GSU.
No way you think to take this class with this professor, he's a very unprofessional teacher..
this guy literally embarasses students in class for having phones
so funny and comedic
hes so funny and hilarious
Too Much Homework
he is so funny and hilarious. one thing embarassing is that he will ask you to come to the front of the class if you are on your phone
take him if you want a comedic year.
one time, he asked my friend to leave class because he was not in grinshpons class
best and funny professor ever
the funny thing he'll do is that if he sees you are on your phone, he will embarass you in front of the entire class
He's a very strict professor but he's effective with his lectures. Lots of homework, this is not a class that you want to fall behind in. Stay focused in class, engage with the homework & material, ask questions when confused, and you will survive. He provides enough resources for you to get a decent grade, but don't expect an A.
Let me start off by saying CALC 2 IS NOT AN EASY COURSE. He definitely is the best professor in terms of teaching. For his pop quiz he gives out 5 extra points. He is not going to hand out A's like other professors. I remember my first test i got a 76.I was stressing so hard, and blamed it on how strict he was.I ended up getting an A+ in his class.
he is so funny when he sees you on phones. if he sees you are using your phone, he'll stop class and stares at you and embarasses you in front of the entire class by asking you to come to the front of the class and he asks you to turn in your phone and makes you sit back
Very slow at giving graded homeworks and exams back.
take him. the best professor ever
I think Dr. Grinshpon possesses a phenomenal knowledge of his material but sadly, I found myself lost in his lectures. He oversaturates you with information to the point of confusion.
The worst prof I have ever had. His lectures are unorganized and hard to follow. Heard he is decent for Calc, but I doubt it. This class is already pretty hard and he doesn't do anything to try and make it easier. On top of that, he will berate you in front of the whole class if he sees you with a phone. For your sanity, chose any other professor.
Please do your homework for that class because the homework is the test itself. The lectures are good read them. They will help you on the exam massively. He does curve the grades at the end. He does have a fast accent. It might be hard to understand at first, but at the end of the class, he stays to clear out any doubts.
He is the absolute worst, doesn't help at all, has favorites, no concern for anyones situations whatsoever, probably the worst teacher I've ever had.
He was definitely strict about phones and doing your homework prior to class, but he was a good teacher and explained all the topics on tests. He is a late grader however, and there are weekly pop quizzes in different lectures/recitations. The main thing is to do the study guides for tests and you will do good.
He is not only not a nice guy but a mediocre teacher at best. He makes fun of students when they don't do well, and his lectures are boring and hard to follow. Most of the other Calc 2 professors are better so I would recommend looking everywhere else before Grinshpon. He is also strict about phones and is weird about certain things. Good luck.
this guy is the real deal. I hate math, always have, dreaded taking this class he made it so much easier than I thought it would be. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. If you understand all the problems on the study guide you'll get an A on all your exams. always reach out to him or attend office hours for homework or study guide help. the goat
This professor's class is 4000000000 times harder than a Calculus 2 class at Georgia Tech, MIT, or any other IVY or good college. You have a higher chance of passing MIT Calculus 2 than Grinshpon. Also, he has a mega-heavy account that is heavier than a humpback whale.
If you want to fail calculus 2 take this professor.
very nice calc 2 teacher. grades pretty leniently too and gives out practice that is highly applicable to the test material. he also teaches well and despite what people say of his accent, he's actually still highly comprehensible. do the practice and show up to class and you will be fine.
if you want to fail calc 2, then take him. if you are on your phone, he will embarrass you in front of the entire class
This professor is not great at time management as he wastes time calling out students who are on their phone, causing class to be extended by 5-10 minutes sometimes. The tests take a significant amount of time to be graded and no extra credit compensation is given for this.
DO NOT TAKE this Calc 2 with him if you wish to pass. His lectures move at a fast pace and he does not slow down for anyone. He is not very tech savvy, his projector cuts out every minute and he can't even realize it's a cable problem. This guy will do everything to LOWER your grade not make it higher.
Non-respectable professor, he is the absolute worst. He often wastes class time just because a singular student is on their phone. This causes problems to be missed and therefore content on the test is not covered in class. Tests take a minimum of 2+ months to be graded and handed back with terrible and discouraging feedback. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!
There are pop quizzes on the same week as the test just to make sure students are extra stressed out on top of their other existing classes. The tests have random questions that are literally non calculus related just because he has nothing else to put on the test. Absolute joke of a professor.
There are multiple graders to a test depending on your section and there is a gigantic significance between the way the actual professor grades and how his TA's grade. He marks off the smallest mistakes while the TA's do not so grades are heavily skewed. I would not take this class again due to the obvious bias.
This professor does not care about your grade at all, he even states himself he dislikes the policy where if you score higher on the final it can replace one of your lowest test grades. He will go out of his way to create questions meant for you to miss that are non-related to calculus. Every minor mistake is marked to lower your final grade.
Incredibly harsh grader. Gives 50% on a quiz for not simplifying final answer. He will give you blank sheets with over 50 formulas on it that you have to fill in and will subract from your grade for the questions you get wrong. Unfair grading, he grades a lot harsher than TA's. He isn't nice to students asking questions. THICK ACCENT. GPA RUINER.
I personally only passed because my friend taught me everything, this professor will not explain how he solves any problems and will not care if you understand the material or not. I came to every lecture and was disappointed with every last one of them. He will not take the time to care about you and neither should you.
Dr. Grinshpon, knows what hes doing, but he grades test and quizzes very harshly, and its very tough to get a good grade on his tests. I have done countless amount of all-nighters to study for his exams, but did not do great on his tests. If you have another option, don't take him. Calculus 2 is a weed out class, and he does not make it any easier.
Grinshpon is a math genius, but he's also very blunt, which I chalk up to him just being Russian. He's a bit funny, and moves quick through lectures to get everything covered. There are a lot of quizzes, which range from amazing to horrible. The tests are tough, but it's all on the study guides. If you don't understand his accent... that's on you
He does not care about your grade at all, you will be humiliated for getting the wrong answer and he will personally make it his mission to torture students. Calc 2 is already a hard class and he does not make it any simpler by providing no formula sheets and will bring back content from middle school.
He will constantly berate students on not remembering things from middle school and will punish you for not knowing them. Constantly lowers your grade by taking off points any where he can, I'm convinced when he grades he isn't looking to see if the correct steps were followed, he's looking for simple mistakes that don't even matter in the end.
You will constantly be on edge in this professor's class. He intentionally lies to students on when he says he won't assign pop quizzes, gives quizzes on material that should not be quizzed on due to their obscure nature and grades exams way harder than they need to be graded. Graded papers will take an astonishing amount of time to be handed back.
You will be bored out of your mind, lectures are very uninteresting and long. Formulas are not given (every other professor provides formulas). Mark is a rude person inherently and takes about 20 years to grade a paper because he cares more about tiny mistakes rather the solution being correct. He will degrade you absolutely and has no respect.
Get ready to fight against prime Mike Tyson if you take this class. It's not easy because he adds hard problems on his tests, also including definition questions that are damn near impossible to remember. The T/F sections are a hit or miss, he also likes to add random questions that aren't calculus related too sometimes to troll his students.
Don't take him. If you notice, all the good reviews are written on the same day with all of the grades being an A+, clearly they are bots. Do not take him if you want a good grade, he really does not care about his students, and is also very degrading. His comments towards his students really show how biased and how much he does not care about us.
Impossible to get good grades on the tests graded by him. He has TA's that also grade for him. For all of the tests, I got the same answers as my friend and she had her recitation by his TA (that graded the tests) and her score was significantly better than mine (it was graded by him). If you have to take him, do not take his recitation.
The final is the hardest part of class. The last unit on Taylor/Mclaurin is the hardest for many students, and he went through it very fast. There is no final study guide. I did very well on his tests, but the final was my downfall. However, if you do well on the tests and quizzes like I did, you can still scrape by with an A even if you bomb final
He often rushes through topics/important details. So many pop quizzes. Tests were unreasonably hard. No formula sheets. He is very rude. Is willing to waste his time and other ppl's just to embarrass a person for being on their phone maybe that's why he didn't have time to finish 3 sections and we had to use YouTube to learn half of the material.
Don't take if you aren't good at the fundamentals, they will be brought up in one of his many pop quizzes. He won't cover everything on the test, you'll have to teach yourself a lot. No formulas or revisions, fill in the blanks are super specific. No extra credit or late assignments. Get help early (office hours) or don't take the class.
Had him for Calc 2,3. In both of his classes, if you paid attention to lectures, did the homework, reviewed study guides, and took advantage of his office hours, you would have no problem walking away with a 90+ grade. These classes are not the easiest, but he will be more than happy to help you only if you put in the effort.
He is a good professor overall. If you pay attention in class you will get a good grade. There's extra points on the quizzes and the exams. Some people found him strict but I think he was alright and tried to maintain a good learning environment.
Loved his class. Was very entertaining and was always willing to help you out. HOWEVER. He is very strict about prerequisites, especially precalc. You must know unit circle and trig identities. Other than that he does a pretty good job of teaching and is pretty reasonable. Only got a B- bc I didn't feel like trying on the final.
Pretty bad professor, tough grader taking points off for minor mistakes on tests. Rude to students and wastes lecture time to call students out on their phone so he makes us stay an extra 10 mins. NO TEST CORRECTIONS/EXTRA CREDIT (other professors offer it)
Pretty bad professor take someone else if you can. He knows the material well but isn't great at teaching it, he also wastes a lot of time on tech issues, calling students out, and randomly yapping.
Can be very rude, he knows the concepts very well but can't properly teach them. No phones or laptops are allowed, he will call you out and embarrass you in front of everyone, sometimes even moving you to the front of the classroom. He does extra points on quizzes though.
if you want to fail Calculus, then take him. the most stupidest thing he does is if he sees you on your phone during class, he will literally stop teaching, stare at you, and ask you to come to the front of the class and embarasses you in front of the entire class
Can sometimes be a bit harsh, but once you get past that, he is an amazing teacher.
1 quiz/week either during lecture or recit. Calculus is difficult, and he's tough on grading so don't get him for recitation at least. Feedback that I was given on my test was a bit demeaning & does overreact to phone use, but other than that he's alright. He posts lecture notes online + drops a few quizzes + replaces lowest test grade w the final.
Professor Grinshpon. Where do I even start? I'm coming back to this thread after transferring to Georgia Tech and switching from economics to a math major. Now, I find myself wishing that I had him as my lecturer again. He's an ***hole. However, he is the best lecturer I've ever had because he solely teaches you how to solve problems. Thats math.
Awful teacher literally just blasts through examples the whole class, without really making sure students understand the concepts. Also likes to waste time on embarrassing students for using phones they pay for. Terrible classroom management. Also has an accent makes him hard to understand at times. Don't take this guy.
Calc 2 with this professor is no walk in the park. Expect tough exams and pop quizzes that test your fundamentals. Staying on top of the material is crucial - unstuckstudy ai was a lifesaver for me with its quizzes and practice problems. Worth the effort if you're up for the challenge.
If you can avoid this professor at all cost please do. His lectures are pretty good, but his overall recitations do not make any sense. With Calculus already being a difficult subject he is not approachable at all which makes it kind of intimidating to ask him ant questions what so ever. Be prepared to basically learn everything yourself.
Terrible doesn't begin to explain how bad this professor is. If you are REALLY listening to me do NOT take him. An extremely rude human being. He finds joy in making his students feel miniscule. His accent is extremely strong and difficult to understand. Knowing so, he speaks extremely fast and gets irritated when asked to repeat himself. Just NO!
This professor is legit. Great at giving lectures but keep in mind that he's pretty stern. Follow his standards and he'll help you out. He's great with office hours as well! Ignore the 1 star reviews unless you're a soft little snowflake who needs a safe space. I guarantee you that they probably failed too lmfao.
Dr. Grinshpon is a very smart man and a decent lecturer. However be warned: his class is extremely difficult. Only take his class if math comes to you naturally. I got an A+ in Calc 1 and had to fight for a B in this class. Again: Only take his class if you find math extremely easy. Otherwise, you're in for a rough semester.
Extremely mean and cold hearted. Everyone else here is lying. don't take him
I went to talk to him and on his computer, he was running a Russian botnet program to raise his rate my professor rating. This man has an ego complex.
He understands the content really well and can teach it well. Yea he calls kids out if they're on their phone, but he is the best calc teacher GSU offers for Calc 2 from what I've heard. He's also nice if you talk to him outside of lecture. If you do the practice you'll do fine. His tests are basically the study guide as well.
probably one of the worst professors i've ever met. he is mean and will talk down on you. i won't be surprised if he's having people write fake reviews but seriously do not take him.
Grinshpon is awesome and a genuinely nice guy. Calc 2 is hard, and that's not his fault. You have to study, do your homework, and pay attention in class. The tests are WAY easier than the homework and he gives comprehensive study guides with everything on the test. He doesn't want to give you an easy A, he wants you to learn math.
GREAT teacher. one of the best math teachers I've had. you have to study tho. Do your homework, do the study guides, and u will be fine. He emphasizes having a good foundation for the class, so makesure u really understand your concepts.
Disrespectful and inconsiderate, but teaching was decent.
He is very strict in lecture and will directly call you out if you are using your phone, but he is approachable outside class. He was very helpful when I attended his office hours. I thought was an informative lecturer and the tests were straightforward if you did the homeworks. There were pop quizzes given randomly during class however.
He uses bad test answers, shows them in front of the class, and embarrasses his students. Decent examples and notes but does not take much time to go over it again. You either spend the time taking notes and not understanding because you are writing stuff down or focus on what is being taught and have no notes written down. disrespectful and rude.
Seriously if you have other option please take them. He has the worst attitude and talks down to his students. He is not considerate at all and I don't know where all these good reviews are coming from. Please please please do not take this professor.
Very rude and his only joy is to embarrass students. Hard to understand with the thick accent and gets mad when asked to repeat himself. Would not recommend at all. Find a different professor, drop, or withdraw for the sake of your GPA.
He's incredibly rude and disrespectful. If you don't understand the material right away, he'll embarrass you and belittle you. His accent makes lectures hard to follow, and he treats college like high school! You can't have your phone out, or he'll throw a tantrum and yell at you. If possible, avoid him at all costs!
At first I thought Dr. Grinshpon was just hard in class because he cared about us learning, but now I don't think that's the case. He essentially bullies any student he thinks isn't paying attention to a point far beyond what's necessary. Just today he repeatedly called a student's mom a bad parent because the student used their phone. Not cool
Took him for Calc 2, he is a very reasonable professor if you do your work tbh. Never overloads work, but make sure to schedule a decent amount of time for this course cuz it requires it.
He was extremely rude the whole semester. I do not recommend taking this professor at all! In class he showed favoritism to certain students. He calls you out on your phone even IF U WEREN'T ON IT. Avoid him at all costs because his ego is higher then your grades will ever be…
I wish you could attend at least one lecture of his. Truly one of the underrated teachers throughout my 19 years of life. Thoroughly elaborates on questions, and maintains a balance of humor and class material. Hope I will have the pleasure of coming across a professor of such caliber once again.
Please, DO NOT take this professor. He is the worst teacher I have ever experienced. He has terrible handwriting, a very thick accent, and will take any chance he can to look down on you. The tests he gives will be completely inconsistent with whatever was "taught" in class. There is no possible way that he has the rating he does (fake reviews).
Calc 2 is a difficult course. He can be mean, but is more bark than bite (unless you cheat)! He is very clear about the technology policy, don't be on your phone if you don't want to get called out for it. Worst part of the course (as all calc courses) is the amount of homework, quite time-consuming and tedious. Lots of resources available though!
for the love of God , just dont. no bias against him. take any other prof but him. if none available wait for another semester to take another prof.
Take it if you hate yourself; no formula sheets. Dropped after class because he said he didn't feel or want to write explanations to problems, and he yelled at a student for asking a reasonable question.
If you have the chance to pick another professor, do it! He has a heavy accent and writes really weird. HE will yell at you if you are on your phone! He kicked out this one student for texting his girlfriend! Attendance is mandatory! Class is so long! Boring and you will fall asleep that he will get on to you!
Calc 2 is light work just do the practice problems he does all class and you'll be fine, others say he doesn't give formula sheets but he gave us a formula sheet for the final
Good Class. If you do the homework and complete the study guides before the tests, you should have an A.
The professor is grading very tough so that students face difficulty in passing exams. He takes around 2 weeks in grading Exam 1, Exam 2, and Exam 3. But provided the Final Exam score within 3 days because it was fixed by the university authority deadline.
DO NOT TAKE THIS DUDE! You will hate yourself! Tests or quizzes every week, strict grading, thick accent. NO! JUST DON'T! He can't even teach ffs. I wish I could really speak my mind, but rate my professor wouldn't let me, so PLEASE let this be your warning. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
Literally a good teacher, provided everything at the beginning of the semester, topic notes, extended lecture videos, worksheets, worksheet answer sheets Would update & upload class notes from the lecture after every class Study guides given for the tests Pretty specific in grading but not hella nitpicky either & gives good feedback on tests
