Hes kinda overly excited about geography, but he is really thorough and knows what hes talking about...he puts it on a level that people would understand.just go to class and takes notes and you will do just fine.he even throws in goofy questions on tests

Extremely boring class, but stay awake and take notes - the tests are super easy as long as you can pay attention. Highly recommended class, very very easy, but attendance is imperative. Don't take it if you don't go to class.

World Reg. Geography was a great course, I learned alot about many places I had never studied before. I thought it would be difficult to understand since the class was so large but his lectures were very imformative and helpful.

Had him for World Regional Geography... He posts a lot of stuff on Blackboards to help you on the tests. Really awesome teacher, one of my favorites!

Tests were extremly easy but you really have to go to class to get the proper notes for the test.

I've had Dr. Hafen for Geography of Current Events and Human Geography -- he's a great teacher! Funny, smart, and helpful! He even rescheduled an exams for me TWICE because I was sick. Just take notes and go to class and you will be fine!

Really interesting class to take and it's worth four credits. He's very knowledgeable and I would recommend any of his class because he is so laid back just like any student would be. The online class is a little tedious with the amount of work, but you should pass it none the less. I recommend this

Mr. Hafen was an exellent instructor. He was very helpful, even though I took his telecourse. His class was well-organized, and as long as you read and watch the videos there isn't any reason not to get an 'A.' I recommend his World Regional Geography telecourse to everyone!

The best professor at the University of South Florida. Everything positive about him...you name it, he've got it! I recommend ANY class he teaches.

Woo! Best teacher ever if you like teachers that test on mostly lecture! GO TO CLASS! A little too chipper in the morning but is very enthusiastic about his subjects. Tests multiple choice, short answer, and small essay. Very laid back and engaging.

I took his class online and it was so easy. He is very helpful and the class is very interesting. I would definately recommend taking this class.

Interesting class. It is a lot of work, but it's worth four credits. While you are watching the tv show, take notes. Try to tape it off the tv so you can rewind in case you missed something. Also, read the readings. From my experience, the test is balanced in terms of readings, notes from tv show, etc. There are four exams.

Took this class online over the summer...it was a complete joke, used the books, notes, study guides and the internet on each quiz, a copletely effortless and easy A, just take the quiz before the deadlines, or else youll fail like my roommate.

When I took it, he would show us the test and go over the answers. All you had to do was memorize the answers. What more could you want from a professor! Easy Easy A!!!!!!!! Take him!

this was a very difficult class! you must be prepared to read the ENTIRE chapter and watch the videos!! i didn't do that with most and i think i barely made a D... some of the chapters are interesting, but the class itself is tons of work..

This class is extremely easy. Do not read the book, just the notes and quiz previews. I never did any studying and never watched the videos and I still got an A. Best teacher at USF

I've had him on 4 occassions (from Geography to Environmental Science classes), and he is really great! He's very helpful and very interesting, and makes the class really enjoyable!

Interesting course! If you've had Dr.Hafen before...uses the same structure for his class: Easy HW, easy in-class assignments, easy projects, and gives excellent study guides that are extremely helpful for the exam. Easy "A" Best professor at USF!

Dr. Hafen is a really excellent professor. He makes his classes fun and interesting through his in-class exercises and field trips! I highly recommend him!!!

I took this class on-line and it was very easy. He was very clear with the deadlines and the movie scheduled times. I only bad thing about the class was that you could not retake any tests. However, there is no final and you can start the class a week early.

Hafen was a good instructor, he communicated everything clearly on blackboard, in the syllabus video, and through emails. The structure of the course was very clear. The quizzes were harder than I thought they would be, you really need to study the text and take good notes on the videos. Use the video study questions he provides to take notes.

The class was great and everything was well coordinated. Follow the instructions and you will get an A. Before you sign up, ask yourself whether or not you could deal with a distance learning class. Some can and some cannot. Ask yourself as to whether or not you can pace yourself and you are self motivated.

This class is easy if you DO THE WORK. Watch the videos (most important!!) and read everything. Details are important. I took the online class so I could pace myself but I'm sure alot of people had trouble. Don't assume this is an "easy A" class!

the topics may have been a little dry, but dr hafen did his best to make them interesting. this class isn't an easy A but you don't have to work exceptionally hard to get a B either.

Dr. Hafen makes class time interesting. His online courses are meant to be hard because this degree is meant to make you think. This is not some easy "A" class. I have gotten "A's" in all of my classes except for Dr. Hafen's because he tries to make you think outside of the normal routine.

Awesome class. I worked ahead, it's not even Spring Break yet and I'm finished! The quizes are easy so long as you pay close attention to the videos and read the text. Dr. Hafen is always very helpful and quick with answering student's questions on the Blackboard disscusion group. Sheer laziness is the only reason to not do well in this course.

easy class, 10 quizzez, no final, no midterm, no in-house meetings. hes straight forward, very clear, and answers all your questions right away. watch the videos and you'll be fine...dont buy the practice workbook even tho he says its required you dont need it

Class was a little tricky, but if you study for the tests you should be fine. There are 10 quizzes, no other grades. I would recommend this teacher

The online course is very straight-forward. You can work ahead and finish the class early. I would definitely say watch and pay attention to the videos b/c alot of the questions on the quiz are little statistics or nonsense things from the videos, so write down everything! Very nice and helpful professor!

Mr. Hafen is the best teacher at USF, period. He is very nice and knows the material well. This class is also extremely easy. I did not read the chapters at all. All I did was watch the videos and look at the questions he gives you. I gave hardly any effort at all and got an A.

Doesn't give you any breaks. Even if you are one point away from an A and have worked hard and spend more than the suggested amount of time on the work, he won't help you out. Sometimes, people just need a break; how hard is it to be nice? Quizes practically REQUIRE the use of notes and book due to their insane difficulty, despite rules against.

I've never sweated so hard for any class. This class is definitely not an easy A. You really have to read the book and you really have to pay close attention to the videos because he'll ask these little nonsense questions on the quiz. If you hear a person, place, or idea, WRITE IT DOWN! I got an A, but I passed the cutoff by only a few points.

I dont know how the guys think this class was hard. I did not read the chapters, not even skim over them. All I did was fill out the video sheets and the questions he has on BB. Other than that, you dont have to do any other work. I hardly put forth any effort and got a high A.

I took his online course and I finished the entire course in a month and half. It felt really good cuz then I could pay attention to the rest of my hard courses. I really recommend this course. It's not easy but also not hard. and Mr. Hafen is a really nice guy and answers his emails right away. Make sure you watch the videos VERY carefully.

Online class!! Its perfect for your ALAMEA class! Its not to hard but its does take a little work. Just pay attention to the videos and take notes while you watch them. He likes to use stats from the videos. Also, the study guide is key!! Alot of questions come from that or the study questions he gives on the site! So do them! Good course

Dr. Hafen is an extremely helpful professor/advisor. If you have the chance, definitely take a course or two with him - you'd have fun. He grades fair and equal; however, I've seen some inaccurate comments here about him not rounding-up. If you look at his point system, it already incorporates this! So, he DOES round in actuality....

Easy class, tests are online and I passed with a 297 out of 300 final score....great average booster!

Extremely easy and fast online class. There are only 10 quizzes to take. Watch the videos (take notes) and skim through the chapters. This is a very easy 4 credit easy A class. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends. The teacher responds pretty fast to e-mails compared to other teachers. I took the class w/ a friend, very helpful.

Dr. Hafen is very helpful and answers emails quickly. The class is online and the tests are from the book and the videos. The videos suck and are so boring but you have to pay attention. Go to the discussion board on blackboard before the tests b/c he answers video questions. The class is pretty easy if you watch the videos and look up book answers

EASY A.. online so you can get it done w/in a short period of time!! done w/in 1st week!! i got an A+

Online class, there are only 10 quizzes and no papers that are based on reading and videos. If you read and watch them, you will be fine, they are all pretty straightforward. Each unit is due every week so don't fall behind or you'll be locked out.

I took World Regional Geography in Fall 07. This is an online class which based on 9 online quizzes and 3 critical thinking assignments. The quizzes came from the text and the video, so reading and watching is a must. To me, there are too many materials, but luckily, I manage to get an A. He responses quickly. It is not too bad and is recommended.

Book is overly detailed and highly political, there are other classes for that not what I would expect for this kind of class. Videos are nice, I liked them but some questions on the Exams are barely mentioned in the videos. Watch them 2 or 3 times and take notes. You could even skim the book as long as you know the videos and do the same.

The class was online and I barely got an A. TA's are really nice. The only bad thing about the class was that the tests were hard. I read the book, watched the videos and took many pages of notes and still got B's on the tests. Other than that the class was fine. It was a lot of work, but I reccomend it if you need the credit.

A lot of work for an online class. Book is online and you need it to pass the quizzes as well as the videos. The CTA's are the only easy thing about the class. He is very helpful if you have questions. Takes lots of studying. His syllabus is set in stone pretty much so follow what it says or you will fail.

The last comment describes Dr. Hafen and this class perfectly. I got a B but I didn't bother to do the last 3 unit readings. Readings are so long but I recommend you read it to get a good grade.And buy the study guide, I used it for the last 3 units I didn't read and wished I would have looked at it earlier in the semester because it has quiz ?'s

The class is fairly difficult. A lot of reading and the quiz questions are very detailed (not general info, some minor details from the chapter). Quizes are are good comination of the book & videos. Be prepared for quizes you'll do fine. I got an A but worked hard at it! Prof. Hafen is extremly helpful answering questions and responding quickly.

I highly recommend only taking this class with a partner. Then you can split the readings and movies. You must read the text, watch the videos and take notes to do well on the timed quizzes. There are 9 quizzes, 3 critical and thinking questions and no "re-dues". This class is not an "easy A" and is very time consuming.

Online class. A lot of work, but easy. YOu have to read a chapter a week (I skimmed through) and watch usually 2 30 minute videos a week. Also there is a study guide for each week that you fill out with the answers in the beginning of the guide. Not an easy A but if u do ur work it's an easy B

Do NOT take this online class. Quizzes are ridiculously difficult. You'll have no idea what will be on them. Far too much material to know. Class is way too time consuming.....takes more time than both my other classes combined. Too much information to have to try to know.

Interesting class; Dr. Hafen is extremely nice & knowledgeable. FUN FIELD TRIPS! class topics are very interesting. Tests and online quizzes are m/c and are super easy if you pay attention and do a bit of studying. Choice b/w group project and paper. DO THE PAPER!It is a real struggle to divide the topics and work/ not cohesive final product

This online class is a joke. Do take the class in person, extremely difficult online b/c you are responsible for knowing ALL of the material. You teach yourself! Impossible for a good grade on the critical thinking assignments, too subjective! This 2000 level online class was more difficult than my Psychological Statistics course?

Good overview course. Text is well-written and interesting but too detailed to absorb from computer. I printed chapters and highlighted as I read. CTAs were thought-provoking. Some easier than others so pick and choose carefully. Frequent assignments kept me from procrastinating. Reading would have been overwhelming otherwise.

A lot of material to read. Very, very hard to retain so much information. You have to be ahead of schedule otherwise it is impossible to be successful in this class. The critical thinking assignments also requires a lot of time to get it done. If you plan ahead you can get a A. The material is also a little bias.

Awesome online class. Inexpensive pincode gets you access to ebook and more. Really learned a lot, actually.

You have to pretend for a minute your an adult and handle the fact that this professor is not going to coddle you. Be smart, PRINT OUT THE CHAPTERS and use them on the weekly quizes. the CTA's are easy, just remember to cite and your fine. only 15 assignments count out of 21 plus an EC syllabus quiz. no midterm or final. just turn your stuffinontim

Tests are brutal. Read the book, the power points, and take notes! This is not an easy A.

Great class but the tests are HARD. It's mostly multiple choice but you have to make sure you study and read the book because he puts trick answers and lots of b&c or all of the above to make you second guess it. Other than that he's a great teacher and never dull. Just make sure you know the stuff and you'll be fine.

I think it's pretty insulting for students to rate "hotness" but I have to make an exception in this case cause this teach sizzles. HOT!

Tough class! but it's worthwhile if you put effort into it. He posts power points and the homework is from the book and a few articles. a few tests which are fair and field trips that you have to turn in write ups.. and they are somewhat challenging if you're not detailed. Overall I really enjoyed this class.

Awesome professor! I loved the field trips. All content in the tests is straight from the lectures and powerpoints. I love his style of lecturing because he says funny things in between. I will remember stuff about wetlands for a very long time.

Professor Hafen is an overall good teacher. He is passionate about planning & environmental issues which makes the material interesting. Unfortunately, his lectures are heavily reliant on student presentations each class, 2.5/3 hr course. I find this style to waste a lot of precious time as you aren't taught by the professor, only guided.

Environmental Planning. This class is lecture heavy, but the students do at least four lectures to the class on the reading material, throughout the semester. This really forces you to read the material and learn it. He's laid back and fun, and helps along by answering questions that we can't during the lecture. Overall great class.
