This class was really annoying. He assigned, like, 80 homework problems each class - even though Math 350 is only supposed to be 3 units. I would hate to take a 4 - or 5 - unit class from him! He also seemed somewhat full of himself.
Mr. Harbison is my favorite! He is very nice and interested in his studen'ts progress. He has office hours and is always willing to go the extra mile to help a student acheive. He inspired me to push harder.Take Mr.Harbison's class. He is worth it!

This guy is arrogant yet dorky. He seems nice at one moment, but then he gets moody for no good reason. Don't ask him for help, or he'll either repeat same thing he just said in a frustrating manner.Makes alot of mistakes in lecture will get you confused
Harbison was nice and all, but his class was pretty hard. He assigned WAY too many homework problems, and 90% of the class was graded on quizzes, tests and the final, with 10% being homework. Really nice, funny guy but not an easy class.
this teacher seemed awesome at first. however, i passed his class by getting help at the math lab, because i didn't really understand his teachings. another thing is that he gave me a fraustrated look, when i didn't get what he was trying to teach me.
He is a very nice teacher but sometimes is it hard to understand him...but i still took 2 of his classes and passed with a B and I am not a math wiz
This is the worst math teacher ever. He doesnt know how to explain the material, and he makes a lot of mistakes while writing on the board. It is very hard to understand.
He's confusing and often gets himself lost when teaching. He's not hard, but you've got to learn the material by yourself. He gets frustrated when you ask for help and don't be suprised if everyone else in class looks lost when he's trying to explain. I don't roccommend him!
Mr. Harbison is the easiest math teacher I have ever had. He is a little unorganized at times, but he grades easy, and he's not really meticulous like other teachers are. Also, he is good about only testing on things he has covered in class, and not on random topics
Hard. He gets annoyed if you ask him questions. Makes lots of mistakes. Assumes everyone has the $100 calculator. Doesn't give much partial credit. Tests worth 90% of the grade. Final 24%, tests 48%, quizzes 18%, homework only 5%. Most dropped late or failed, and he doesn't help you much. Avoid him!
Nice Guy,however, does not break information down into terms the beginning algebra student can understand. The only use for his class is if you are already good at math to begin with and then there is no reason to take the guy.I don't recommend this teacher at all.
He is funny, but not very helpful. First 3 months is easy, but as it towards to the end, it will be the killer! He gets annoyed if you try to ask him questions. "Why you don't understand?" kind of look. If you take note, you will get a good grade. He is not very creative!
not the greatest teacher, understood a little bit of his lectures. had to get a lot of help from a classmate and mathlab. tests werent too bad.
Great Teacher, I was able to understand the material clearly. He was very helpful and graded easy.
He looks like he has a lisp, and doesn't teach well. He likes to take time out of the class to complain about bad graphs. He tries to get friendly with the students and should just stop. I really do not like him.
He is fun sometimes showing some visual examples, but when it comes to real explaining material, it's all over the place, very vague. Sometimes jumping to the next chapter. Not concerned to prepare class for the test. Expects more than gives.
He's okay. He gets upset if ask too many questions. But he will help you in his office hours. He's a little scatter brained. He forgets a lot of what he should be teaching you.
I liked him. He tries really hard to get you to understand. I have taken tons of math classes and would recommend him to anyone. Not the best I have had but not the worst either. He is up there with my favorites.
This guy is absolutely worthless. He's a math geek with no concept of how to actually teach a class. I don't think he once had a lesson plan. He always seemed annoyed if you questioned him (probably because he could only explain it one way). I complained to the dean after I took his class. Avoid this looser at all costs.
I loved this guy and learned so much from him! I think he made learning stats easy and fun...one of the best math classes I've had. Lets you have cheat sheets for tests, which is great. Got to work on homework in class too. I recommend him! He is a dork :)
he gives the easiest test. he is there to help you as much as he can.
He is a good professor. Everyone likes him. If you are not good at math, you should take his class. Calculus itself is not easy. But his lecture is easy to understand.
STAY AWAY...this teacher shouldn't even be called a teacher. He is funny, but very unclear. I always felt like I was teaching myself. I dropped his class.
Harbison by far is the worst Math teacher in SCC! He is very unclear and does so may odd steps in his Math problems that it is so difficult to follow! He cannot teach to save his life! he tries to be funny but it doesn't really work, especially when he is trying to be funny about a subject nobody understands! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
he was a sub for our class, I am good in math, and I had no clue what he was talking about. He seems to make things more complicated then they need to be. If you need help he seems ok on helping, however still don't understand what he is trying to teach. makes things too complicated
DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT take this lousy teacher! HE IS HONESTLY THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO EVER SIT UNDER. HEED MY WARNING--OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!
I took other professors & dropped b/c they were hard and not helpful. I tried other math courses too. ONLY B/C of Mr. H's teaching style did I pass this class. I am not good at math, but he teaches so well, even I who sucks at math, learned and passed with a 78%. TAKE HIM IF YOU STRUGGLE because he wants you to learn and is helpful! Best teacher
Mr. Harbison is pretty unclear when teaching new material, but fortunately he's very good at helping you if you don't understand something, even in the middle of a test. This is a very good thing if math is not your strong suit. Also, he's just got this awkwardness in front of the class that put me, at least, at ease.
Mr Harbison is weirdest teacher I have ever had. He is a major nerd. Half the time I felt like screaming at him WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! He is hard to understand. But if your a motivated student you can pass his class. Hes kinda cool with the tests because he goes over the section right before it.
Mr Harbison is an outstanding teacher. His method of teaching is awesome and he encourages participation. When students have issues on a particular problem,he will thoroughly go through the problem and show many examples.Statistics all around is not for everybody. But 4 those who take interest & understand it will enjoy having Mr H as their teacher
nice guy
i think that Mr. Harbison is a great teacher. he is nice, has easy tests, an easy book that wasn't expensive and he doesn't give that much homework. he offers extra credit by doing extra hw problems. everyone leaves class early and he gives extra credit to the people who stay. he is a really nice guy!
He is an awesome teacher.
Take this horrible teacher at your own GPA's peril! He has not got the ability to teach to a class without sounding like he is talking to kindergarten kids. An all round poor teacher!
Geez, it's hard to find a g-o-o-d math teacher. This guy seems like a real math whiz, but just because you can ace math doesn't follow that you can teach it. If you don't understand, his solution is to just e-mail him. Yeah, there you go. He makes a mess over all the boards yet still the class is lost. This guy's a dweeb.
A nice guy who really wants everyone to learn math, but acts like you are in middle school. He has a hard time explaining difficult concepts and responding to questions during lecture. Giving of his time: available and helpful one on one. Disorganized and does not respect your time. Often unprepared for class. Starts late, runs over.
Mr. Harbison is a pretty good teacher. You have to be kind of quick and witty to understand him though. He's a bit sarcastic and his analogies to mathematics are horrible. His tests and quizzes are easy, he assigns and collects HW every day. Drops lowest quiz amd Test score.
He is easy to follow and gives a review right before taking tests and quizes which has helped me a lot! He will give you hints during tests, and you can still get an A in the class and you only have to do a little bit of homework. Also corny/funny!
He was a nice teacher but sometimes it was difficult to follow lecture when it was literally all over the place. He will explain hw problems and will help you before or after class though. Lectures are just not his thing.
excellent professor. easy to understand.
Though he was available to help with specific questions after class, he did a rather wretched job of explaining the vital concepts DURING class, which is when we need them. Plus, the book (written by him, I feel I should note) was more than a hundred dollars, and during the class he had us tear out pages to turn in, making it impossible to resell.
**Used TEXTBOOK for sale** New is $100 at the bookstore will sell for $50...Very lightly used only missing 2 practice quiz pages. Excellent condition. Very helpful teacher and explains things so everyone can understand but STATS is hard subject matter. Cumulative final is a killer!!
Terrible teacher, He will teach you 3 sections a day. When it comes time for quizzes you will learn 3 new sections Before he gives you the test for the previous stuff you just learned. So you get confused on the quizzes. He is a very hard teacher his HW and classwork at worth a total of 7% The Final is worth 25%!! YUK! bad grading system stay away!
Mr. Harbison is a funny nerd. His sense of humor doesn't always get you laughing out loud but nonetheless he does have a sense of humor. He's very straightforward and rather bland but he's always there to help. Tests= easy if you study.
i took him in summer school.don't know what he's like during regular semester but i did not like his teaching method.the book does a better job teaching you than he does.seems to get irritated by a lot of quesitions.he is picky and dock you off a lot of points for small errors.cannot understand his lecture.1/2 of the time i'm going "WTH"!
Confusing teacher, I had to switch teachers because I didn't understand what he was teaching.
This teach is way too confusing. he teaches you what you need to know but when you ask him to help you. He'll say we did that, go back to that section and read it. I took him because that was the only time that was availble in my schedule. I wouldn't recommend him. Students should go the tutoring lab for help. he should be the one teaching us.
In general, Stats is a difficult subject. Teacher tried to make the subject as easy to grasp for everyone, so I give him kudos for that. To do well in this class, I advise you to do all of the homework, not just to do it but understand it, it serves as practice for tests. He lets you have notes for quizzes, tests and the final.
Harbison is horrible! Did not follow formulas in book so HW and Lec didn't always match. Never reviewed any HW. When students asked quest. he said "talk to me later" then would be irritated when you talked to him. DID NOT SHOW UP FOR FINAL REVIEW. Sent a sub who couldn't help us because Harbison makes up own terminology and formulas. HORRIBLE!
If you are a returning student Mark Harbison is not the teacher for you. First thing Mr. Harbison stated was in the past four years only 39% to 45% of students received a grade of ?C? or better. With the teaching skills I observed those statistics seem about right. Assumes everyone just came out of a math class, bypasses the course description:
What's wrong with everyone. Mr.Harbison is a very nice professor. Not an easy A. Just do you HW. HW are a lot. But makes STAT very comprehendable. Calc is a necessity. Seldom reply to emails. Quizzes are easy. Very straight forward. Just learn from your HW. Make sure you do it. Very lenient and understanding professor. One project, not hard. A+ prof
Mr.Harbison is great! He explained other ways to solve problems which were a lot easier to comprehend than some in the book. He's also funny and makes class interesting. Tests aren't bad just study. But there is a lot of hw but not too difficult.
Mr. Harbison does a good job teaching this class. Stat 300 is not an easy class, therefore you must do your homework to do well in his class. He does allow cheat-sheets for quizzes and tests which will only help you if you know what you're doing. He grades fair and gives some extra credit. Get a TI-84 calculator!!! Your life will be much easier!
Mr. Harbison is a real good teacher. He wrote the Stats book we used so he knows his subject real well. The benefit of this is that he will do an awesome job at his lecture. The test are good and very straight forward and are similar to the homework and lecture. Just stay on top of your homework and you should have no problem with the tests
Mr. Harbison is awesome. He made things very easy to understand and was always available in his office if there was something that wasn't clear. If you missed a class, write a note and he'll excuse it. Constantly got rid of homework, dropped lowest quiz and test grades and gives extra credit for pretty much anything.
Goofy is the first word that comes to mind. Good style. Homework is only 4% of the grade. Excellent reviews before quizzes and tests. If you write down all the formulas that he writes on the board, then youre almost guaranteed to pass.
Just take someone else! He could care less.
good teacher. i hate math but he explains things real real clear and makes sure everyone understands things. i liked him and def would recommend him to anybody. pretty easy as long as you take your notes, pay attention
Wth is up with the neg. comments? You probably had F's. He is humorous, helpful and understanding. He is one of the professors at SCC with a great sense of humor. Given the class is hard it takes work to pass. Do great on all the test and quizzes, do all the homework and the project was easy. Do your part, don't just rely on him. MATH LAB people!!!
Best of the Best Professor for stats. Very helpful and very good on grading quizes. Take him anytime summer or fall. He will make everything easy for u.
Excellent Teacher. Stats is very hard for me but Harbison explains very well. Best advice: never miss any classes, his explanations much better than the books are. Grades quizes/tests with leniency. Humorous and entertaining.
best teacher ever!!!!!
hey is a really good teacher and wants you to understand what he is teaching. if you need help he helps. lots of quizes tho. if your taking math Mr.H is the teacher you want to take
Good teacher he explains everything very well. Gives 4 tests, 4 quizzes. lowest score dropped. The project was easy. I would take him again if I had to.
Mr. Harbison makes math actually fun. You get what he teaches, great style of teaching, I learned a lot from him. He makes it so easy, sure there's homework, but its not that many, only 3 test and 1 final. If you hate math, I recommend Mr. Harbison.
Super cool and funny. Awkwardly funny. Like watching 'The Office.' Wants you to excell and lenient on grades.
Great teacher. Easy A! Lots of quizzes but he drops the lowest ones! Take harbison!!!
Mr. Harbison was great. He is a little quirky but he grows on you quick. He is generous with partial credit if you make a sincere effort on the quizzes and tests. He will drop a couple (3ish) of your lowest quiz grades. The book is online and only cost 30 bucks to access.
Like a combo of Nat Faxon from Orange County and Chevy Chase. He was confused sometimes, I think it had been a while since he taught CALC, but he was good. Master the homework questions and the tests won't be a problem.
I liked Mr. H, although he was quirky. His methods are a little challenging considering that he likes to write out a the complete problem. I think he should train people to use their expensive calculators instead of the old way. Just a thought!
Mr. H is a great teacher. He teaches in a very simple manner so that everyone can understand. He will drop your lowest test and quiz score to up your grade.
This class requires a lot of hw, but it's math so what do you expect. Funny in a weird way, like on The Office. Do hw and you'll do fine. I could've pulled an A...
Harbison may seem like he doesn't know what he's doing at times, but he's still a good teacher nonetheless. He's funny in an unusual way sometimes. The homework isn't too demanding and you should do well on the tests as long as you STUDY! The project has to be one of the easiest you'll ever do in your entire college career. I managed to get an A.
Awesome teacher, methods are rather strange, but I managed to get an A. Would definitely reccomend him as a teacher.
I felt like his class was comprehensible. I had a hard time keeping up with him, and hated the amount of homework. He tends to favor certain students and gives them extra credit.
I took Mr. H for math 34, 100, 120 & I plan on taking him Stats. I been taking him for a while so believe me- he's a good teacher. He shows u different ways of doing a prob & accepts diffrent written form of it as long as its written correctly. He really does wants his students to do their best. He even lets you call him if your stuck on a prob.
Took him for math 28 and plan on taking him for elementary algebra. He's a good guy and helpful. A little funny in that math teacher sort of way. Expect lots of homework. If you do homework, show up to class, and are present for all the tests and quizzes then you should do fine, as long as your quiz and test scores are good. Overall great teacher!
GREAT teacher! took Math 100 twice (and failed) prior to taking it with him and I have been getting great scores on my tests and quizzes! finally understanding the material :) Lots of homework but quizzes and tests are easy! He is kinda of corny when he jokes around but I like that about him. Very easy-going guy! HE WANTS YOU TO PASS HIS CLASS!
Professor Harbison is a great professor.. he is easy to understand and wants you to learn..if you dont pass his class is your fault fo not trying...GIVES lots of homework and grades from 1-4 points with 4 being the highest..quizzes every week and test every two chapters. he drops 3 quizzes and 1 exam...YAKE HIM=)
His explanations were easy to follow and understand. He starts class with review questions from last class. He drops the lowest test score so don't get discouraged by one bad test score. He makes himself available to his students. Attendance is important and he takes attendance everyday. Pay attention to discussion and earn extra credit!!
I wouldnt recommend Mr. Harbison. Although I got an A in the class I have no idea what I learned and I just took him last semester (spring 2012). He gives out extra credit every time someone catches a mistake he made, and let me tell you he makes a lot which makes it very hard to understand. He basically expects you to know the stuff before he even teaches it. I spent almost all my free time at the math lab getting help because he wouldn't help. Don't take him!!
Even though the subject is not easy, the teacher does a great job. He is helpful, flexible, with a good sense of humor, and organized. Do not skip sections, take notes, and do all the homework for the practice. Usually the tests are easier than the homework. So, if you do homework, you will pass the tests and quizzes.
I took this class over the summer. Everything's so easy: tests, quizzes, and homework. Homework were graded based only on effort. There were 4 tests and 4 quizzes. Tests were always 20 choices and quizzes were 10. He did a good job explaining stuff, only he always made a lot of mistakes. Got an A in this class! I would recommend him!
This teacher uses his own book, teaches in a manner that you should already know and understand the material. When you ask questions he doesn't answer them just ignores you or makes you feel like an idiot. I had 3 tutors and used the math lab each day and learned nothing. Homework is endless repeats and tests are worse.
He gave me a hard time throughout the semester. Sometimes when students ask a question, he tends to get irritated and will raise the volume of his tone; very disrespectful. As much as I asked for his help, he was overall impatient.
Loved this class! I absolutely hate math of any sort but he is such a wonderful professor. He is very friendly, lets you use notes on the tests, and gives out extra credit when you catch a mistake or participate in answering questions. Even if you have trouble with Math, if you see a tutor for this course, it is very helpful. Best math teacher!
He was so awesome!!!! He is really funny and does a good job at explaining things! He is a great teacher and is a great teacher for people with learning disabilities!!!!
I love this professor! The class was easy and fun as well. He has a great sense of humor. If I could take every math class with him I would. I recommend taking him if you can.
Im taking him now & i must say hes been the easiest math teacher ive taken. he gets confused a lot though and is kinda geeky but if you do the tons of hw he gives out and study youll do fine in the tests
Harbison is an interesting guy. He is great for a certain situation and a nightmare for others. If this is your last math class you need, take him. He makes a complicated subject seem easy, however, if you need to take more courses, you might want a different professor because he skips sections and does no build a strong background for higher math
Pretty easy class! I took him over the summer after my senior year of high school. He could be forgetful and make critical mistakes sometimes, but no problemo if you're really paying attention to him. I loved his teaching style! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
Mr. Harbison takes his time teaching all of the "easy" building blocks of math so that his students are prepared for the more difficult lessons. He creates a great classroom environment, tests and quizzes are super easy and you can use a calculator. I definitly recommend him for lower level math classes, take him if you can!
I loved this class and the professor, he really cared about us learning the material. I at first hated it due to my lack of interest in math but over time he helped me understand a lot. And I left his class with a decent grade. Wish I could have got him for 34 Aldo, but I will get him for 100 for sure.
Mr.Harbison is a very nice guy & has weird jokes, when he teaches its a bit confusing but he always offers one on one help so thats sweet. He truly does care about his students & this was an easy class!
Very good professor. Tests are not tricky which is great for any math class, what you take notes on in class and the examples he does is what you will be tested on.
He is a nice guy, and if you are already good in Algebra you will do fine. BUT if math is not one of your strong points, YOU DO NOT WANT THIS PROFESSOR! He is not clear in his instructions, and he makes a lot of mistakes. He gives extra credit to the person that catches his mistake, and he gives a lot of extra credit work also.
Harbison is like if a sitcom dad taught math class. He makes bad jokes but is also very funny in that sitcom-dad way. He wrote his own stats textbook and the book is maddening, but he is extremely helpful and understanding of student's challenges. I'd go to class a lot because otherwise you can easily fall behind.
He sucks at teaching. He is the most lamest teacher ever. He doesn't even help you to the point where you get it. He isnt always in his office hours..he is rude and he shouldnt be a teacher in the first place because he have no patience at all. Dont take his class!!!!
Good teacher, Im glad i took him for such a hard subject. He made the material easy to understand and is always available on his cell phone and replies to emails quickly with any questions you have. Funny nice guy, he has a passion for the subject which definitely shows. I would recommend him, u have to do the hw and make sure to attend class
Currently taking the class and I can already tell his teaching style. He tends to lecture one part of the hw and the rest you'll have to teach yourself!!!! It's frustrating!! Homework can be different from what he lectures. Tests are exactly like lectureshw. He looks like Napoleon Dynamite, the movie. :'(
do not take mark Harbison for stats. I have never rated a professor but he was so bad I just had to. He makes mistakes all over the place and leaves you to teach yourself. is more concerned with being funny than efficient.
If i am passing this class its because of youtube videos, the proffesor makes you teach yourself, i regret taking his class.
He's the worst professor you can take. He's unclear and does not help you in class. You can go to his office hours but it's no use. it's just as unclear as his lectures in class. he's unorganized and all over the place. If you have difficulty in math i would NOT take him. even if you're good at math i wouldnt take him.
This class is very laid back and monotonous. Homework is majority of your grade and its all on Mymathlab.
If you believe you are good at Math already, and if you get things with 3-5 of problems shown on the board every day, then take this class. Otherwise this is a self-taught class, what he explains may be way different from the problems on the homework. This is more like a "let's chat about the easiest problems and go do the rest on your own" class.
Harbison is a mess. He's a guy with a good intention, but he jumps all over the place. Unorganized and gets distracted into topics that are irrelevant. He also gives"extra credit" points for those who participate, but for very minor things such as correcting his mistakes or writing the answer on the board. I was often frustrated with the slow pace.
Hard teacher, couldn't follow his lectures very well. Didn't explain well at all. His online homework was a nightmare. Do not take this professor if math is not naturally your strong suit.
Do the homework and ask for help if you don't understand he will help you. He is picky on what he wants but he will let you know. You have to put in some work to be able to pass the class. He will say this all year long "First mistake I made all year"
The best Professor i have met so far. A couple of thinks to take care in class if you want to get an A. 1- Be Active ( answer questions he asks for tons of extra credit, dont miss a day ) 2- Be prepared for everyday class. 3- He takes 5 tests but will drop your bad one and pick 4 out of 5. Tests are easy, same class questions. Overall the best.
I loved that he wrote his own stats book so the homework is similar to the tests & quizzes. Make sure to go to lecture, because he tells you exactly how he wants questions answered or else you'll only get half credit on the question. I highly recommend getting a graphing calc because it makes it so much easier and faster. He allows cheat sheets!
Took his summer stats class. Even though it's a fast-paced class it was pretty easy. His lectures match his book/homework which matches the tests. One simple writing project that was worth a ton of points. He's easily available via cellphone & office hours. You can tell he really cares about his students and will do anything to help them pass.
Easy teacher and a good guy. Looked forward to math for once. Hilarious.
He's a great professor, I really enjoy going to his class :) he's always making sure he's not going to fast and if everyone understands during his teaching. He's really sweet to everyone and helps individually whenever needed. He's also sometimes funny even when he doesn't intentionally try to be.
He always has extra office hours and gives lots of extra credit for participating. Stats is a really great subject to take with him because he uses his own book that has the answers online. Tests are really easy just based on the homework. He's kind of dorky but in a funny way.
Drop 1 test and quiz. 9 percent buffer for homework and stats written report. He lectures right out of the book because he wrote the book. The test questions will be similar to the homework. It is recommended to read through the chapter before class, and ask for a homework question to be gone over during class time. One page notes midterm, 4 final.
Stats are more comprehension of English than they are of math. Harbison is great- gives plenty of opportunity for people to come by and meet with him after class if they are having troubles - I believe he has an office hour every day. Brand-new book only sets you back about 50 bucks. He's passionate about the subject he teaches- super important
He lets you use a calculator, notecard, and the table at the back of the book on tests! He even lets you use your phone as a calculator if you don't have one. Harbison is so passionate about stats and it shows in his lectures. Tests are just like the homework since he wrote his own book so they're easy to study for. He's the nicest person ever.
i hate math but harbison makes it soooo much easier!! this is literally the third time ive taken math 100 and im finally understanding it! hes really easy to get ahold of when im having trouble with homework and doesnt get frustrated with my math anxiety like other profs do, i plan to take 120 with him next semester :D
At first, I thought Harbison was going to be a good professor because of his charisma and enthusiasm about stats; however, as the semester began to unfold, his lectures became more and more confusing. He is not very organized and it can be very confusing when we're trying to learn about one section and he'll just start talking about another seciton
statistics is HARD but i'm glad i'm taking it with harbison. i actually have a W right now technically but i'm staying in his class because he says if i bring my unofficial grade up he'll add me back after the final but if i fail i keep my W, which i've never had a professor do before! he is the nicest professor ever and really cares about students
He's really odd, but funny. Although attending class is better for understanding his way of teaching, yo can still understand the work by going over his textbook. Had a writing assignment but is very easy and done through out the semester. Get to make cheat sheets for exams/quiz. WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN!!!
We used the stats book he wrote which is a plus since you do not need to read a complicated math textbook---that's because he teaches you what is applicable to real life and not excessive math stuffs! If you come to class, do your homework, understand your homework, you will get an A! His quizzes and exams are based homework.
Prof Harbision's lecture was great and he compiles his own book for STATThat's why I chose his class and I know I made a right decision. His class was full with joy and humor. He made STAT easy to understand. And he revise homework very carefully. I'm not sure what grade I got but I did enjoy his class through the whole semester.
Probably the weirdest thing about him is his handwriting. Otherwise I'm so glad I took this class because he actually makes stats/math so that you can use it in real life which I've never had a professor do before. I wish there was another class I could take with him again
I think a lot of students believe he is the best math teacher in Sacramento City College. I know that I believe that. I passed his class without dropping a sweat. This is a class where you will get an B for showing up, doing all the online homework assignments and bring a calculator to class. Super cool guy who wants you to pass.
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. Harbison expects everyone to understand the material without even going over it. He gives hardly any extra credit and grades extremely tough. If you do not show a step of work in the homework or forget a part of the answer he gives NO partial credit. He does not care and his exams are frequent and extremely difficult.
The review below me is wrong about extra credit, there's tons of it. Stats is hard and I wish I didn't take it over the summer but I'm glad I took it with Harbison. He had a lot of office hours this summer and I used a LOT of them and he never lost patience with me and really cared about me understanding the material.
This class was so hard but, from what I've heard, Harbison is one of the less dificult stats teachers. I never understood anything and I barely passed.
I really liked this professor. I thought he was nice, caring, and really wants you to pass. He offers extra credit which helps a lot. He explains the material very well and tells you exactly what is on the tests. He is all over the place at times, but usually makes up for it by the end of class. Overall great professor and very funny.
Professor Harbison is the best! Do your homework. Take notes. If you are able to earn As you will be able to do it with Harbison! Took him Spring 2017. He's funny. Inspirational. Offers office hours. Extra credit. Drops low scores. Notes on tests. No complaints here!!!!
He's only tough if you let him be tough. He offers a lot of extra credit just for participating which really boosted my grade and I took him over the summer so it might've been harder than usual since it went so fast. I liked that he gave his phone number out to students and always picked up to answer my questions about homework and studying
easy class if you do he work!
Worst professor! Goes thru material like if his students knew it already and he goes way too fast. Harsh grader and lots of homework thats only worth 10% of grade. It seems like his goal is to fail all his students. Dont take him, you will regret it.
This class is easy as long as you get ahead of the textbook. The first test is so easy, so I'm not sure how there were 6 F's. He drops the lowest test out of 4 and quiz out of 4. The class I was in was so bad, he had to curve EVERY test (besides the first) by 15 points out of 100. IMO a very good prof, there are times where he covers material late.
Good professor. Very passionate about math. Offers to help students who needs help with a math problem during class. Would take again.
He is an amazing math professor. Wish I could take for math 120. Great lectures on math.
2nd time taking. First time got F! Great prof. In all Stats class, youll fail if you dont try. He gives out the answers but he wants you to show all work to prove you know how to do it. He takes the time to help you understand why some things are done a certain way w/ step by step instr & how to use a TI calc. Take him! Notes allowed in Q, T & F.
Absolutely loved this class. This professor cares about his students. He will help you even if your not one of his own.
Great professor! If you have a tough time understanding he will teach you different ways until you understand! Overall do the online hw and his tests are relatively easy if you pay attention. BTW: be aware of corny jokes lol
He is the worst professor ever! Do not take him. EXTREMELY unorganized, grades extremely harsh, and is not understanding whatsoever. Stats 300 is easy, but he makes up his own terms and writes his own book. So, if your'e looking for outside help you will not find it. He believes in his way and his way only. STAY AWAY.
I took him over the summer for 6 weeks and it was not as hefty as you think. If you do all the homework and ask questions during class, you will be able to understand the concepts that he teaches you. I had a busy schedule working 30 plus hours per week and still got a passing grade in his class. Take good notes and pay attention in class.
Not taking for nxt class!
