He's a pretty cool dude...rather bitter sometimes. But I took him for summer school and it wasn't bad at all. I'd definetely reccomend taking him for summer school if you need an english credit. You do more talking than writting and he loves South Park

I don't know what the last guy's talking about. I took him 3 times and got 2 A's and a B+. He said about 5 times in class that he gives about 15-20% A's. Get your IQ tested. You know what IQ stands for, right?

Good instructor, does not require you come to class, will spend most of the time ****ing about other job or joking around with class. Reccomend if you have a heavy load and don't wanna invest much time in this class.

Interesting prof. His lectures are definitly loose and informal. He depends on the students to move the lecture forward. He is big on class participation. You will get extra points if you contribute to the lectures. If you do the assignments and participate in class lectures then you'll do fine.

Such a great teacher. Pay attention. Hilarious. Take it on a Monday night in the fall. He likes watching football so he usually lets out early. Such an easy class to take with him.

He was a very easy teacher. Didn't really have to come to class to do well. The last couple weeks of school, there would be only 8 of us that would show up to class. He can be annoying, but I liked him enough to try to take ENC 1102 with him.

What are these people talking about? I didn't learn anything in his class. He spends maybe 10 minutes out of the 50 minute class talking about english and the rest is nonsense. If you are good at english, take his class for a super easy A, if not, take someone else who can teach you.

Funny guy likes to tell jokes. As long as you do the majority of the work then you are fine. Great teacher on certain aspects or topics in english. Do recomend if you have keep yourself on task.

Mark is a very fun and easy going teacher. His class is easy but make sure you read,( he get's annoyed with us lazy sfcc students. :) ) If you like english, or even if you are not that great at it, I recommend that you take him, he will try not to make you write as much and he grades really easy.

Professor Hills is great...I say that without hesitation. He doesn't give away grades and he doesn't cater to slackers, but he keeps a humorous tone to the topics at hand and makes you want to come to class and do well. He also makes himself available to his students. Oh and his jokes can be sort of funny.

Mr. Hills is a great professor, just turn the papers in on time and you'll do well. He makes the material easy to comprehend, jokes around alot, which in my opinion made his class more interesting. I'd reccomend him to anyone.

Hills is DA MAN! Best teacher i've had yet by FAR at SFCC!! Was sad to see the class end. If you able to, take him for every english class.. attendance isnt mandatory and test's are easy although they dont count as much for your grade. Just make sure to turn in the essay assignments and your good!

Just turn in the papers and thats all he cares about. He is a lot of fun. Read the stories he gives you and you will get extra credit in class when you know what you talking about. Take his class he is awesome!

An English professor who cares more about your ideas and how you can present them than your knowledge of the use of the semi colon. Very fair with grading, just the right amount of assignments, and willing to change curriculum on the fly if the class finds a particular assignment uninteresting or boring. Read the assigned texts!

The coolest english teacher ever. Who cares if he isn't talking about english the whole time? You still learn what 1101 is about, and it's really fun. I didn't have to work very hard to get an A, just come to class and participate in discussions, read the damn assignments, and write the papers. Awesome teacher.

Very helpful and easy going. He is a little slow grading, but he keeps in touch w/ you about it. Great online class. Discussions are fun even online. I find him extremly fair, just do the work assigned. I defin recommend him! Will take another course from him.

The key is to ask questions.I got lot of feedback by asking questions.Doesn't just regurgitate the book. Just follow back and not too hard.

He is a great teacher. I only got a C because i slacked off a lot. What class doesn't need work. It all needs effort. He just cares how hard you worked for it. My grammer was bad but he cared about my critical thinking more. Seem like he speaks in a monotone but his jokes were intresting lol. Just show him u care and you'll be good. =)

I like this professor. He is very intelligent, and his discussions and assignments are interesting. He knows how to engage students in creative thinking process. Very fair in grading, but does not let you slack off. I am very happy with the online class I am taking now.

I have Prof Hills 2x now and think he is great. In my opinion he overly giving to slackers. Yes, he is slow grading, but makes up for it many other ways.Very helpful, does not make you feel stupid for asking questions. I wish he would teach the next sequence. I made a B+ in 1101 and an A in 1102. One of the best prof I have had at SFCC.

Interesting class. Professor is very good too. He had interesting clear assignments and told the class what needs to be done in order to pass or get a good grade a number of times. So, those who did not paid attention to his warnings most likely had difficulty. However, I did what this class required and got an A, and English is my second language.

I took the online course and as long as you do all your work and participate in discussions you should get no less than a B. He does not like slackers, but gives more than enough chances to make up work. I would recommend this professor.

Mr Hills is a great teacher. You need to follow his instruction and stay on top of your work. Do not get behind. If you pay attention and do what is asked of you, you will not have any problem in this class. He was nicer than he should have been to a lot of the students. Do not take this teacher for granted!

I enjoyed the online class although it was a little challenging. He's a good teacher, but grades things a little slow. He must not have the greatest organizational skills in the world either, as my final grade was typo'd and it brought down my GPA. :( Not the easiest class ever, but easy to succeed if you do the work.

I doubt that's what really happened. You probably just didn't turn something in by the deadline. I even got a paper in late and then got my grade changed. Gives every chance to pass. If you fail, you ain't trying. But don't cheat of course. Will lower boom.

If you do the work, the class is pretty easy. A fair grader (I turned in a paper that I thought was a C, he gave it a B.) Replies quickly to emails. Updates regularly. Always willing to help.

I thought the class was pretty easy. Your grade is made up of your essays and discussion posts. He grades very fair on papers. I would definitley take him for other classes. He was very to the point and didnt require "extra fluff work".

I don't know why there are bad comments on here. I'm taking his online class now and his instructions/directions couldn't be more crystal clear to understand. The problem is students don't read everything carefully and he has to keep repeating himself it's annoying. If you read what he posts, then there is no reason to be lost. I love his class!

Online Class, Good teacher. Assignments are reasonable, and the class is very helpful. The Skills Tests, have helped me understand Grammar and writing context again. Good class. Dry sense of humor. "Facebookery", instead of class work.. HaHa

I am taking ENC1101 online this semester. The class is really easy. So far we've written 4 essays and have 2 more due before finals week. He's fair on grading and returns the essays with corrections to improve the next time you have one due. Discussion posts are a major requirement but not hard at all. He also assigns skills test for practice! EASY

Just do all your work and stay on top o things. His online class is somewhat past paced but easy to follow. He is pretty forgiving about late work and what not.

Good teacher. He is confusing at some points. just be sure to ask questions if needed to be sure. you MUST do discussions to pass.

Not hard at all if you keep up, especially in a short term. Must do discussions, and stay on top of everything. Responds to emails and texts. Review your grammar rules.

For an online class, Hills makes it as easy as possible. To the people who say he's confusing: try e-mailing him. He's very prompt on e-mail, but a little slow on grading. What can you expect from an english teacher who grades essays from more than one class, though. It's always recommended to take a class on campus but Hills makes it easy.

Or you could just do everything you're supposed to do and ask for clarification when necessary.

Make sure you post a lot of discussions in the online class. He doesnt grade on time so hard to know how you are doing. He is helpful if you need extra time on an assignment for a good reason.

I took 1101 in the spring and am taking him in 1102 again. Easygoing as long as you do what you're supposed to do. I wouldn't call that being easy, though. You still have to know stuff like grammar rules and MLA format. Specifies which rules he focuses on. I would say the full term class is a bit easier because it's not rushed.

I took it Summer A and got a B, which is a bit above what I normally get in English. Called twice on phone and got a full answer to my questions. Must participate. Learn key grammar rules. Don't ignore that.

Took for 1101. Easy to pass. Must work for an A. Grammar tests extremely helpful. Doesn't do busywork.
