He's a good teacher and a nice guy. Exaggerates with a whole "cool funny teacher" thing at times, but he's ok. If you don't know the subject matter, he'll try to explain it, but gets bored and tired toward the end of the semester. Too much of work in this class: 5 tests, few online homeworks and quizzes and notebook homework. Ask for extra credit!!
Great teacher. Great sense of humor, fun class. They switched to a new book in the fall which is alot harder than the old one. In my opinion its not an entry level class especially if you have never had algebra or have been out of school for years. Did'nt like the online homework and quizes, very confusing. Passible but hard. Do all xtra credit.
Best prof I have ever had. Very approachable, goes at the classes pace and sets you up to succeed. I have taken him twice and would take him a third time if I could, great teacher. Highly reccomend espically if you aren't a good math student.
I failed 3 algebra classes at a University. In Hopkins class I got an "A"...enough said.
I am taking him for MAT 1100 and he is really, really good. I am going to take him for all the math classes at OCC. He is that good! I highly recommend him. Great sense of humor and kind to the eyes (he is hot)! I wouldn't take a maths class with anyone else.
I had mark for college Algebra, and he is AWESOME! he is so easy going and laid back. If you don't finish your online test he gives you as much time as you need! I would recommend him to anyone who is having a hard time with math! He gives out lots of extra credit before each test. Take mark for math!
He is Awesome
he is the best math teach i ever had, he is funny and very helpfull, everyone loves him, i cant wait to take him again. love you Mr. Hopkins
Spends a bit of time playing the "cool teacher", but makes the class interesting and easier to understand than reading the book. Understanding material is much easier if you attend class. He is also pretty helpful.
Hands down THE BEST mathematics instructor I ever had!
Professor is knowledgeable and likable. A good teacher but needs work on discipline. Classes started late, let out early, and were outright canceled. Tests were handed back late, or not at all, and a lot of material was skipped. I would not take this professor again for an important course.
He is my favorite teacher at OCC. Very helpful! He makes the information easy to learn and hardly ever uses the book. He gives a good amount of homework but doesnt collect it. He is a great teacher! Take him for all your Math classes!
Great professor, teaches the material well, took him 3 years ago, and still remember everything I learned and is now using it in my mechanical engineering field.
I took Precalculus in the Summer of 2009 with Mark. He was a good instructor and I'd recommend anyone to take a math class with him.
i have taken professor hopikins before and he was a great teacher, but when i took his online pre-calc class it was absoluely horrible!! he is not the worlds most organized guy. there are alot of problems in his online course! i recomend only taking him in person.
If you are good at math this class should be simple for you. He explains the material really well. He is really nice and kinda funny. The book is only used for the homework which is not collected. The tests are the only grades in the class. I would take him again.
He's a pretty cool teacher. He does a great job of explaining the material, and he likes to make jokes. He's very laid-back. The problem I had was that he does his tests in a weird format that screwed me up. The tests don't look completely like the HW problems. He cares about his students though and is very helpful.
All I can say is that even though his test format is not of your typical Math Class. (8 questions instead of 25) He's not just a Teacher, but he wants his students to succed and he'll try everything he can to do so. He'll even get a notetaker for you. Overall a Funny, Laid Back yet Wise Man who knows very well what he's doing. Highly Recommended
He is great! I loved him! Super funny/laid back guy. He wants students to do well and will do anything to help. Totally would take another one of his classes. So entertaining, even though it's math!
He's a great teacher. He's very funny in class and he makes math seem easy. But, his tests are hard, so when I take his exam it's always a big surprise to me. If you take his class, be ready to work real hard
Great teacher, does his best to help you succeed. Makes plenty of jokes. Tests are hard, but allows you to replace 1 exam with your final exam grade. Very fair, highly recommended.
Hopkins is a great teacher. He is extremely patient, helpful, and funny. He truly wants students to succeed. His tests actually reflected his handouts and homework assignments- how refreshing! He enjoys teaching and it shows! I would definately recommend him, especially to those who are mathematically challenged!
Great teacher. I realized how great he was when I had to take the following math class that he wasnt teaching, and stuggled. He prepared me very well for the material, just not the teaching style. His style helped me to understand the material, and helped me get an A! I would recommend Mark to anyone!!
Mark Hopkins is a very good teacher. He wants the students to succeed, so he takes the time to explain the material. He also has an student instructor, Beth, who is extremely helpful. She will come early or stay after class for about an hour to practice math problems from Mark's lecture. They are a great team. I am not math savvy- and I got an A.
Took 2 other Math classes at OCC since Hopkins, and felt the need to comment. HE IS AWESOME. Extremely helpful, really nice and patient. Wants students to do well and understand. Tests are a little hard, but with a little effort- this class is completely manageable. HIGHLY recommended.
Had him for 1600 online.. I will never take another online class again thanks to him. Lectures were thin and as the course went on became useless. By Halloween your teaching yourself with the book. When emailed about the lectures being thin his answer was start attending math lab practices.. I dont drive! Thats why I'm taking an online class. Awful
took this class online. NEVER RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS, worst professor when it comes to communication. I emailed and also left him a voicemail and still never responded. Have to actually drive to campus for the exams, whats the point of taking the class online?
Best Math Teacher I can find. Maybe the only one with any PATIENCE left!!! MARKS AWESOME!
Excellent professor: funny, interesting, lots of fun, great at explaining things in a way that is clear but not dumbed down, very willing to take time outside of class (and during class) to answer questions. Mark really likes to make you think so be prepared for that on his exams. I had a blast in this class!
Professor Hopkins is a great math professor! After not getting a high enough grade in my calculus at OU, I had to take it here to have my grade transfer. His lectures are very clear and he actually tests you on stuff he teaches.. unlike math profs at OU. Take him!!! Great, great class!
This was one of the best math course I have taken. Hopkins is one of the BEST math teachers at occ. I would highly recommend him. I will defiantly be taking his next course.
homework is assigned but not graded. grade is 100% tests. 10 points for an organized binder but i didnt bother and still passed with 102%. class session is lite and fun and his instruction is very clear. best class ive ever had, anywhere.
Mark is a FANTASTIC instructor! He is very thorough in his lectures and assigns the perfect amount of homework to help students succeed in his class. He loves to give out A's and will actually tell you how to earn it. Attend class regularly and do the assigned homework and there will be no problem achieving an A!!
He is an AMAZING prof. He TEACHES you. I actually have come to LOVE math and understand it because of him. Excellent profo. I recommend him to anyone for Math.
MARK IS THE BEST! HE HAS A GREAT SENCE OF HUMOR THAT YOU WILL NEVER GET BORED IN CLASS! HE IS VERY HELPFUL.HE IS AMAZING!!!
Class is 100% based on tests. If you are not a good test taker, don't take this class. I asked for help & he did not help me.
I took his calculus 1600 course online and honestly I had the worst experience of my life. He is not present to answer questions, give aid where it is needed, or even show that he exists for that matter. I would rather have my eyes poked out, jump off a cliff, or even eat my own excrement than to recommend a garbage teacher like Mark Hopkins.
Mark is the Shaft of teaching mathematics. His voice is super smooth and he's a cool guy. He explains things well and will answer questions and offers constant hours available to you.His test are slightly difficult but they are very much based off of his practice test. He has a policy of replacing your lowest test grade with the grade on your final
You have to be dedicated to take this class online but Prof. Hopkins provides you with all of the resources needed to succeed. Online lectures are usually really thorough. He seems to answer questions in the lectures as soon as they pop into my head as I'm watching them. I definitely did not care for the male student instructor for this semester.
nice guy
Mark is hands down one of the best math teachers at OCC. He really explains the material well and goes over a lot of examples/handouts during class which really help a ton! Goes at a slower pace and goes over homework and tests so you aren't left in the dark like with other math professors at OCC. Highly recommended!!
GREAT!! Made me love math all over again. I go to OU and knew math professors over there were harsh so I took the class at OCC. Awesome professor, makes sure everyone understands material, attendance is not mandatory, little use of textbook, gives practice exam which has all exam questions on it so we know exactly what to expect. TAKE HIM.
Really cool guy who is always helpful and made math class fun
He is super cool and a great teacher! I would recommend him in a heart beat! He is very helpful, and takes his time to teach lessons. Tests are based directly off homework and notes. Your grade in the class is based of tests scores, not homework. If you do the homework he gives and show up to class, you will easily pass the class.
He is nice and really laid back. He gives practice test- do them! The tests will be just like them! But there will also be some questions like the book homework. I studied a lot, attended every lecture and SI session and it was easy - but my grade was important to me so I put in the time. His lectures are SLOW! And he skips stuff if u need calc 2.
This professor was late almost everyday. He made the material very boring and never gave the class a chance to practice the material in class. Mark is a cool guy, not a good professor the lectures were so dry! Awful professor. I will never take a class with this teacher again.
Teaches good and always willing to help. Really nice guy. Only thing is schedule is confusing and unclear. Schedule says one thing and he says another. Confused as to when tests are and what is covered on tests bc he doesn't make it clear. Also starts class 10-20 minutes late
Hopkins teaching method is great and easy to follow! Could be a bit fast paced but I love it! Makes things less boring!
Mark Hopkins is the first hard math teacher I've had at OCC. The tests for his Calc II are extremely difficult, they go well beyond the homework problems. He always stays after class for an hour to offer help. He does not answer emails regularly. If you carve out time and invest energy in his class, you should expect to do well and learn a lot.
He is a awsome teacher, if you stay awake in class and do all the homework you will do very well.
He moves the class at a great pace not too fast nor too slow.
This class is completely based on tests which can be a bit scary for most myself included but with a professor like Mark Hopkins who makes an effort to help when you need it you will do fine Absolutely Love This professor he is a great guy and I have taken every math class and passed with at least a C which is a big deal since Math is not my fortay
this guy is totally awesome, he explains algebra in a great way that make everyone understand he's also very helpful and will not move on until he makes sure everyone has understood.
great voice
Mark Hopkins, was a terrific Math teacher. I'm already terrible at math and he made everything clear and made it easy to understand. He is super funny so it made going to class fun. You get out of class early pretty much every day. I would highly recommend him to anyone! I wish he taught statistics, because I would take him again! :)
AWESOME teacher! Hate math, I'm not good at math, I actually really enjoyed going to class, and I learned a lot. I highly recommend taking him. No homework to turn in, your grade is based on 4 exams and the final. Study go to SI, ask Mark questions when you don't understand something, and you will be fine! He won't move on until you understand.
Mark is a friendly guy who knows his math. He assigns homework for every class in the book, but it isn't graded, so your whole grade depends on about 5 exams. He references the book a lot in class, so it's useful to have for class as well as practice. He gives practice exams and if you study them hard, you will do great on the actual exam.
he is nice and helpful but his tests are TOUGH and VERY LONG that makes u so confused during the exam. NOT RECOMENDED if u are not good at math .
You need to go to class cause he does not follow a syllabus, but he teaches well and answers all questions. He is very accommodating. Feel free to ask questions.
GREAT professor! Went into class scared to death of math, he helped me so much! You can ask him questions during tests, he breaks things down and he's funny and SO approachable! Math actually makes sense. I never thought I'd like math but now it's bearable thanks to Mark. He also has an amazing SI, Beth. Take his classes, study, and you'll do well!
Mark is AWESOME! Do not hesitate to ask him questions before, during, or after class AND while completing tests! He always teaches back to back classes. He combines both his classes on test day so you have TWICE the time, aka 4 hours, instead of two hours, to complete tests! Godsend for slow test takers like me! Finally, do SI - Beth is fabulous!!
Professor Hopkins lacked to communicate what was going on almost every week with the students. He goes 3 weeks without telling us anything. You can email him as many times as you want and you will never get a responds. This is by far the worst online class that I have ever taken because of Professor Hopkins. You will find yourself teaching yourself
Tough to do college algebra in a 12 week summer session, but Mark tries to make it as painless as possible! Will postpone tests if class is not ready! Textbook homework is minimal. Study the handouts! They are of paramount importance to succeed in the exams!! Beth works on handouts in SI! Third exam is a take home test! 4 exams + final exam.
Took for an online math class. Was worried about taking math online, but he made his class more like a face-to-face setting than any other online course I have taken. Clear video lectures work through examples of all the types of problems you will see on the test. Some test questions are the EXACT SAME as the handout questions, which is helpful.
Mark is an awesome professor! I love going to class even though I hate math. Ask as many questions you want, he will answer anything!!! Also go to SI, Beth is AWESOME! You will pass his class with flying colors if you attend class and go to SI.
Mark is a boring professor. His lectures online are monotone&sometimes his voice was muffled. Sometimes the videos weren't clear. He doesn't answer emails or questions. He makes you participate in discussion boards which were annoying but sometimes helpful because students helped each other out since he was no help. You will be teaching yourself.
Straight forward about what is expected out of you. Adds in jokes throughout lectures. Provides helpful review guides before every test. Very good teacher.
Mark Hopkins sets you up for success. he ONLY exam you on the material he teaches in the class. He gives out a study guide before each test, if you practice the study guide you will get a straight A in that class. What's more important of all this is that he does Not drown you in homework he knows you have other classes to study for.
Hopkins is wonderful! I plan on taking all my Calculus classes with him. He is very thorough in lecture, and will NOT continue on until he is sure everyone understands. Also, he's constantly cracking jokes and it makes lecture that much more interesting!
Great teacher! All around great guy and productive and caring teacher. Assigns just the right amount of homework - enough for the information to set in but not enough to make you cry. His classes fill up fast, so grab your spot when you get the chance!
Awesome Teacher! I have always had a hard time with math and have never gotten over a C in any math course. I finished the course with a B! The material was tough, but Mr. Hopkins explains it in a easy way. He is always willing to help and goes above and beyond! He is a great professor and I will NOT take another math course unless it's with him!
Great Professor. Test Reviews are basically what you find on the test, just different problems. Homework isn't checked, but he does go over it. I would definitely take him again and he's funny and quite understanding. Only need textbook for homework.
Mr. Hopkins is tough. His class consists of 4 exams. No HW counts neither does participation nor attendence. All it is about Exams. Exams are open ended. Partial credit is given. No multiple choice. No SI was provided. Made class 2x harder. Demands alot from students. Bad grading criteria. Math should never be based on all Exams, you need fillers.
If you struggle with math, Hopkins is the best. He is clear in his explanations and gives step by step instructions for how to do every problem. His teaching style is organized and easy to follow and he is happy to answer any questions during class. He gives practice problems for every problem on the exam. Homework is essential to passing!
Professor Hopkins is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explains everything very clearly and makes sure everyone understands.
If you have to take a math class, take it with Hopkins. He discusses material thoroughly, hands out practice exams and makes his lectures easy to follow. He answers questions, offers help and is a fair grader. I was worried about taking a math class solely based on 4 exams, but it made me a better test taker and have more confidence in the end.
Mark was a wonderful professor!! He always gave review tests before tests that were almost identical to the tests and very helpful. Homework is not graded but make sure you take the time to do it anyways because it will pay off! Mark had an SI leader who was the BEST thing ever, she was so helpful and knew just as much as he did. Highly recommend!!
One of the best math professors I ever had.
An awesome professor! Explains concepts very well, and works to make sure that the entire class understands a concept. He even would delay a test an extra class day sometimes to ensure that all students fully understood the test material. He also holds a study/question session the class before the test day, which was super helpful. Take his class!!
This class is easy if you put the time in it. The professor wants you to ask questions and makes you feel conferrable in the class. I was so nervous going into this class but Mark is a great professor. No quizzes only exams, you much do your homework to understand.
Professor Hopkins was one of the best professors I ever took. I was never good at math but he really makes you understand the sections. He explains it well and notes are great that help you prepare for exams/homework/final.
Was the best math professor I've ever had, and would recommend him to anyone. Very inspirstional.
Professor Hopkins was wonderful. He helped me out so much once I told him the only other type of math I had was intermediate algebra. He really cares about his students. One project thats really easy, 3 exams, 1 quiz and a final (optional depending on your grade). Great professor, would definitely take him if he taught stats. Take him!
Work hard and you will get it. Best math teacher I've ever had! Cured my math phobia!
Like every math teacher, Mark lectures everyday and you do have homework everyday. However, the homework is optional. If you're good at math and don't need practice every night, you don't need the textbook. I went two semesters with Mark and without a textbook. Super cool, relatable dude!
Prof. Hopkins is an amazing teacher, took the same class last year with another professor and ended up dropping. With Mark I was very successful and understood the material. He is more then willing to help with any problems. Homework is for practice and not graded. Class is based on 4 test, final, and a small project.
Mark is the best! He makes everything clear and makes sure the whole class understands what he is teaching. Very funny also. His SI, Beth is very helpful as well. Ask lots of questions and see Beth and you are sure to get an A!
He is a really great teacher although if u suck at taking exams dont choose him!! The class consists of exams only!! No homework counts at all!! I wish i had switch to a different professor way earlier in the class. Bottom line take a math class that consists of homework being counted towards grade.
He is very clear on what he wants & what you need to know.
Mark is still the best professor i've ever had, and I was lucky enough to have him twice. Has the gift of making hard math easy to understand but also interesting. He is the reason I enjoy math now and talked me into getting my math minor. Cares about his students and will stay late to help. Points are scarce, but if you go to class you will pass.
Mr. Hopkins was the best professor I've ever had! I have struggled with math my whole life and I saw someone else wrote on here he cured their math phobia! and that is exactly how I feel! I'm now at MSU and I feel like Mr. Hopkins really helped me get there! He's so funny and if you work hard he will help you and you'll do great in his class!
You are graded on 4 exams and a final. I had Mark for all my math at OCC, and have really grown to LOVE his math teaching skills. He lays out everything you need to know for your tests and expects you to study. The only bad part is homework is not apart of your grade, only the tests and final.
Mark is knowledgeable about what he's teaching. I'd recommend taking any/all math classes with him because he clearly explains the subject matter and he'll have you prepared for your next math course. Hilarious guy too, he really loves interacting with students! He makes a lot of time for students to ask questions. 10/10 Best math teacher I've had.
Mark Hopkins is definaty the professor I would recommend you to take for a math class. You are graded on a total of four tests and a project. The lowest test score gets dropped at the end. His lectures are very clear and he makes sure everyone understands it before moving on. He gives test reviews with problems that are only going to be on the test
Best math teacher! His lectures are easy to understand and he's super helpful. I've taken math classes at other campuses and at OU but he was the best. Homework is optional and he does offer extra credit questions on the exams. Final exam was optional (just ask him)
Phenomenal teacher. He's so good that I'm worried about having to take another math professor next semester; I just don't want to go back to average professors. He treats you more like a friend than a student. Don't think, take him.
Mark Hopkins is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. He truly wants everyone to pass his class, so he makes sure to do a good job explaining the topics. He treats everyone as friends rather than "just students" and he'll even joke around with the class every now and again. 10/10 Awesome guy; I'm bummed he isn't teaching Calc next semester
Do not take anyone else for calc besides him. Great professor and makes the class very fun.
Professor Hopkins was awesome! He cared about his students. He would always answer questions. take good notes and show up to class. TAKE HIM!!
MARK CARES
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Beth, the supplemental instructor was also a huge part of my success in my math classes. Mark puts in the effort to get you to start to understand the concepts introduced and takes the time to answer your questions. We covered more material than other math classes that helped out in physics. Highly recommend
Mark is awesome! He truly cares for his students. He makes sure every single student understands the material before moving on.
Math is not easy for me but I've had Mark for 3 classes, (including diffy q and Calc II) he is definitely the best choice imo. That being said you still have to do the hw and study hard, if you have any problems just talk to him!
We got super far behind this semester, causing all of the students to cram new material the week before finals. Mark is awesome. He knows his stuff and teaches it well. Hes funny and keeps you entertained while lecturing. Would take him again if I needed to further my math education.
Mark is such an amazing person. His technical skills are unmatched, but I think what really sets him apart is his person. He wants every one of his students to get an "A" and gives a plan to do so. His teaching style is accessible to everyone. Participate in his class, and enjoy your "A"!
I can't say enough good things about Mark. I struggle in math and in this class he made it very easy and fun to learn. He gives out a solid amount of hw each night but doesn't grade it but do it because his tests which is the main focus of your grade are kinda hard if you don't know how to do the material. Participate and you'll do fine
I cannot begin to express how much I appreciated Mark's math class. The guy is amazingly funny, cares about every student, and is really just a genuinely good dude. I highly recommend taking any of his math classes!!
He's a great math teacher, makes math fun and easy to learn and takes his time for every student. The main reason I am pursuing to be a math teacher.
An incredible and caring professor who understands the struggles of students but still makes the class rewarding. I took many classes with him, and I just can't say enough about how great he is. The classes are hard (it's math), but no where NEAR as ridiculously tedious or complicated as his fellow colleagues in the math department. 10/10
Mark! OMG what a great professor! I have taken Calc 1 and calc 2 with Mark. He is super funny and knows how to make the class fun. I would've taken all my classes with him if I didn't transfer to university!
Mark is the best math professor I have ever had! He does everything he can to make sure that you understand the material and is always willing to meet up with students outside of class. He is a really nice guy and makes the class enjoyable. The workload is not too much and he makes sure everyone is prepared for the tests. I'd 100% recommend him.
Really bad mean professor he wastalks off subject. He should be fired. Online class is much harder than lecure. He is lazy and does very little to help students.
He will take the time before and after class to answer questions. Very helpful and funny. He is not all that great at responding to emails though so if you need to get a talk to him best bet is talking in person.
He talks too much in class when he should be teaching and fell behind.
He can't answer question as he will talk too much and can be rude if you ask several questions.
His lectures are one of the most boring lectures I attended making it really hard to understand him. Outside help was way better. His tests are the worst math test I have ever taken.
He is the rudest teacher ever and traches very little in his boring classes. His tests are quite different from his lectures.
I don't think he knows what he is doing. He can't even answers questions those who ask starts being mean to. I don't know what his problem is.
He is lazy when idly comes to helping students he does not like it when you visit him in office or stay to ask a question.
All he does is talk in class and does very little math.
He gave the worst online course ever. I am usually good at online classes but his test were nothing like his homework. >:(
He needs to quit teaching and find something else for work. His class can put you to sleep.
All he does is talk in class and does very little to help his students.
Seriously the worst online class I have ever taken his tests are nothing like what his notes turn out to be. Come on the school should know.
Mark creates an enjoyable learning environment and is able to explain complex math concepts in understandable ways. If you struggle with lecture material, he makes himself available before/after class and even provides suggestions for extra practice. I would have taken more classes with him if more of my classes transferred to my university.
Hardest and most boring and meanest math professor ever.
Laziest professor I have ever had. He does not coever everything in class and expects you to learn it yourself and puts it on the test.
This is the hardest math class anyone could take.
Mark is the most direspectful teacher to students. He is rude and does not care to help. He does not know how to teach math or anser questions he knows about as much as an elementary school student.
I cannnot stand his chatting in class and then having to figure stuff out at the tutoring center. If he wants to chat do it somewhere else.
The only thing you will learn in his class is his only personal life and how bad of a person and a teacher he is.
I have never taken a class before where students were made fun of because they were quiet. Also I have never been a in a class where the teacher will make fun of you for asking a "stupid question". I wish I caught some of his behavior on tape. Some students really liked his personality but I think he is a bully.
Marks resources for preparing for his exams are really easy. Everything is literally on handouts. Homework counts as 10 points for each problem and if you do more than ten problems, you get extra credit. The last two teachers at OCC who taught this class were terrible. I made the best choice to take it with Mark. Hes super nice and the best.
I took Calc I & II with Mark in 2018 and I've never seen him treat a student as described in some reviews here. I honestly felt that Mark cared about his students and wanted them to succeed. He postpones exams if he feel's the class isn't ready. He would bring doughnuts and candy for the class on several occasions like Halloween. Fantastic Prof.
People like him because he assigns half the work that other professors teaching the same subject would. But this means you only learn half the material. Half the class days are optional study days. He's great if you just need a math credit but if you're going to need to take more math after him you're going to be at a significant disadvantage.
He was a great professor to have, his personality about math was great and made the class enjoyable. Although, at times, it felt like he didn't feel like teaching this high of a math and got lazy it seemed like. But other than that, he is approachable and helps you understand concepts. Cares about his students a lot and it shows.
Great teacher and lecturer, He gives clear criteria for the tests and this makes it so you don't have to over study. He is kind and the SI in the class gives you the ability to visit for an hour after class to go over notes and homework. If you want a ideal college experience take this professor.
I did an audit of Trigonometry with Mark over the summer of 2019 to prepare myself for calculus. Needless to say, he was a very nice guy, but man, he was a God awful teacher. His lectures made no sense, were all over the place, and he would teach us partly how to do something, but never complete the concept, definitely would not recommend.
Mark is a great teacher he just wants to help you understand everything he is teaching you and you never have to feel stupid about asking a question because a lot of math teacher put you down when you ask a question but all he wants to do is help you understand math and not just the steps but why we have to do the steps and everything in between
As a first-year college student, I was scared of calc, but he explains SO well that he makes calc way easier than algebra. Tests are extremely easy, you don't even have to study other than the practice tests he gives. Your grade is based on 5 tests total, pay attention and you'll do great! He's funny and super nice. TAKE HIM, you won't regret it!
Simply said, it's a math class. He is very friendly and definitely gets distracted and off topic with students that he had prior. Other than that, he has a lot of worksheets to help you on top of the text book hw. He gives points for hw by putting problems on the board 10 minutes before class. Only 10 points, but that may help in the end.
I didnt try as much as I should have in this class but I still really enjoyed mark as a professor. I would definitely take him again as he is really flexible with outside tutoring. He boosts your confidence and makes math super fun (as weird as that sounds)
Prof Mark is my absolute favorite professor. I hated math and never understood it before taking his class, but his lectures make sense and I find myself thoroughly enjoying them. Do everything he says and you WILL get an A in his class. He doesnt lie about that. Hes passionate about his job and you can tell that he wants his students to succeed.
Lovely teacher! I recommend not studying "practice tests" as your only material before tests, as sometimes a curve ball problem is thrown. He is super helpful with the breakdown of problems, just make sure to not miss any classes to stay ahead. If you want the practice tests or wks posted you have to push it on him or it wont get done. Taking agan
I hate math. But, after taking Mark's class, I now believe this is due to poor profs of the past! Lectures are super important to attend, as the course schedule is flexible to the class' understanding of the material. Breaks concepts down to base components that build on each other. Do EVERY worksheet/homework assignment, ESPECIALLY the pre-tests!
I cannot say enough about how wonderful of a professor Mr. Hopkins is. Math is by far my weakest subject, and I walked out of there with a B. Gives clear, concise instructions on how to do the work. Extremely fair. As kind as they come. If I could take him for every level of math, I wouldn't think twice about it. 5 stars, 10/10.
Definitely don't recommend taking Calc 1 without any prior math experience. Make sure you brush up on your intermediate algebra. Grade is counted on 4 test plus a final and small amount of homework. Class is out of 510 points. Hopkins is nice but definitely speaks the math language, which can be hard to follow. Talks a lot with his prior students
Math has never been my strongest subject, but Mark made it fun and I truly understood the material! I was shocked when this class actually became my favorite out of the others I was taking during the time. He is easy-going, excellent at his job. Very good prof for those who struggle with math. Super caring and it shows. I 100% recommend. :)
I liked Mark but calculus was not easy for me. Make sure to do every homework and every pretest! The SI was really no help for me, took this class and have been out of math for a long time, I just needed to pass it and she really freaked me out telling me I wouldn't do well. I understood her concern but even her instruction was all over the place
He is so nice and his tests are just like the practice tests! Take his class and make sure you do your homework! Its extra credit!
do all the homework and pretests. The pretests are identical to exams but they are extremely similar. a lot of students like him because he makes a point to get to know everyone which makes him more personable. I personally couldn't connect with his teaching
His lectures were mediocre. He's a cool guy and somewhat made calculus bearable. Exams were a lot! He doesn't post a schedule on his syllabus so you will know a week in advance if there is an exam coming up, which was annoying. Not really reachable outside of class.
Grade is based off 4 exams and a final. 10 points for putting up hw problems on the board before class. If math isn't your language don't take this professor. I really struggled and I just needed to pass in order to take my remaining classes at OU. Doesn't round your grade
While I really liked Mark as a person, I had a very hard time connecting with his teaching style and the way he explained things. If math is not your language and you haven't taken a math course in a while, I wouldn't suggest taking him. Class is based off 4 exams and final, & 10 points for hw with the option of an additional 10 points ec
He's okay idk why everyone raves about him. I didn't really care for him to be honest, I've had better math teachers. Personally I think he should be teaching at a university level vs. community college. Class is based off 4 exams plus a final, make sure you do all the pre-tests and homework (which is not graded).
He is a great professor. It was definitely a good experience. I did not grade a higher grade because i did not want to take the final exam, but overall his way of teaching is amazing.
Mark is by far the best professor for math at occ. I didnt pass my first calc class and I took my second one with him. Its hard but he makes it somewhat understandable. He also lets you leave the classroom to take tests.
Amazing math prof. He made calc so easy, do the HW and go to SI and you'll pass. Do the board HW and get those EC points. Once we went online bc of corona he wasn't very good at responding to questions. Ask the SI or other students for help or tutoring. Exams aren't hard if you keep up with HW and study
His tests are unreasonably hard and puts o a lot of things on them that he never goes over in class. Come On.
Doing math online was not so hard but now thanks to the pandemic I have a really bad toeacher who just does not give enough info.
He does not give hints he goes off topic talking about lots of things that arent math related.
I took 12-week remote summer class because of Covid 19. For 4 Cr hr class, the pre-recorded lectures are about 1-2 hours weekly. Exams are VERY CHALLENGING. In pre-recorded lectures, he uses Ti-84 calculator, but on exam, you must show work. Exams: 2 not proctored, 3 proctored(incl final). Post a question & get answer after 4-5 days(unrealistic).
This class consists of 4 tests and a Final. Homework is given, but is not graded. Tests are much harder than practice tests. . takes a week to grade tests. Boring voice, very late in responding to questions from students. Tests are proctored via zoom. Don't take him if it's going to be an online class.. 600 points total..
He gave very difficult exams that he didnt prepare his students for adequately. He would only show one or two of the easiest examples he could find for a section, then would give us an extremely difficult problem over that section on the test. I also found it strange that he watches students take their exam; I had never experienced that before.
In his lecture handouts and lecture videos, he goes over easy problems. He doesnt explain enough and skips steps. Its weird that he proctors the exams through zoom. He takes over a week to grade exams. Doesnt give any partial credit at all.. homework is not graded. Practice tests are nothing compared to the Actual tests. Dont take!!
I am good at math and he is making it a billion times harder than it shold be. His structure is impossible. Not just the worst math teacher but worst teacher ever.
These are pre-recorded video lectures and he gives worksheets for you to complete as you follow them. The material on the tests is much harder agebraically than any examples he gives you. There is zero external motivation to complete the lectures or homework, but you'll need to for the tests. If you have ADHD, this is NOT the prof for you!
This class was really difficult. He proctors the exams through zoom, Says tests are easy, but If you don't do the work His Way then he'll take of points for almost every problem you do. Very Careless and Lazy, because he takes over a week to upload lecture videos and over a week to reply to a discussion post/email. Also takes a week to grade test
He is the best teacher ever. NOT> Boring voice boring lectures tests are not like in his online teachings. Don't take him find a better teacher especially online. He wants to make harder than it should be.
Seems like he went down on ratings during this COVID time but trust me, you won't find any better professor. At least when I took him in person last year, he was outstanding (prob the best). Everyone is struggling; yes, even professors, but I know you guys got this! See Organic Chemestry Tutor calc vids on Yt if you don't understand something.
This professor overcomplicates things for no reason. He told us we are skipping stuff and it ends up on the test. Stay far away from this guy. I have no clue how his rating is so high I wouldn't recommend him at all.
Mark is my favorite professor. His course calendar helped me stay on track and his lectures and handouts were extremely helpful. He was extremely kind, caring and laid-back. Only the exams are graded, but the hw is a must do to learn content. If I had more math classes to take, I would definitely only have him for my teacher. Highly recommend.
Here's what you need to know: Mark is a great guy and he cares, but the material in the pre-recorded lectures is easy compared to the tests. He even says this. The tests are HARD and they are proctored. You are ONLY graded on tests, nothing else. You have to totally commit to this with very little guidance and the algebra on tests is SERIOUSLY HARD
This was the easiest math class I've ever taken. Just do a few hw problems and you'll be prepared for his extremely easy tests, I was scared of calc but he made it easy to understand. If you think this class is hard, maybe consider changing your major or dropping college, calc is very important for engineering and computer science, sorry for truth.
DON'T DO IT. His lectures are good, but his tests are BRUTAL. He openly admits he makes them significantly harder than the lecture on purpose. They are SO HARD. However much you think I am exaggerating, I am NOT. He is a brutal tester and grader. I did not learn enough for how hard I worked. EVIL.
Why does he have a 3.9 or so if all reviews are bad? Super weird. I've known worse than him, but he's not good either. Class is based all on TESTS! This is my 5th time taking calc (At OU, Wayne, MCC, and here!) and I still failed. Wasted college money, why can't there be a good math professor in the world! I give up! I'm done! Period.
Calc 2 was super easy but he's not good. Take it with a different professor if possible. If you don't have a choice, wait a semester or until you can take another prof. No matter if you finish your degree in 10 years, just save yourself some money.
Class is based in tests from topics we covered in videos. The practice tests and reviews are a must in order to be ready for tests(medium). He might not be as good as in person but his class is passable. And homework is practice, which also helps. Plus, there are a ton of Youtube videos online where we can do self-teaching. Great professor! My fav!
Don't take this professor. His exams are very tough... its your only grade of the class.. the SI is kinda confusing also.. shes not good.. Tough grader too, takes of points for no reason..
Just no....
His lectures are confusing and hard to follow. He messes up often and doesn't catch the mistakes, which makes things difficult for the students if they don't understand the material. The only grades you get are from 5 tests, and those tests are extremely hard (much harder than the notes). Make sure you watch lectures MULTIPLE times & practice a lot
Worst class ever in math. He is disorganized and lazy. Really hard to know what he's doing for class. Please do not take him. People at this college just want you to think he is good.
He is very lazy, not organized and doesn't care. There are 5 proctored exams via zoom and he takes off points for no reason and fails students. Lecture videos are very boring and his voice is dull. I don't get what the big hype is about this professor, everyone at occ recommends him but please do not take any of his classes.
Unhelpful, does not respond to messages, cannot explain. This is a community college not Yale. Homework problems are nothing like the exam.
Boring stupid class. Worst I have ever taken in my life. He should have a taste of his own medicine and feel what he is doing. Too many tests that are unrelatable to the exams.
If you see that he teaches 1540, 1560 or Calc 2, don't take him. His exams are very hard, and he grades like he teaches at Harvard or Princeton University. Doesn't really like to reply to student emails. Grade is just tests, and he doesn't curve test grades or round your letter grade to the next letter grade if your close to it.
Mark was a great math professor. He is lecture heavy, but explains everything really well. He really cares about his students. He goes above and beyond for students to help the succeed.
Hopkins is not caring at all. He just tries to make a big name for himself at OCC but really he isn't that good. Has no idea on how to teach and makes many mistakes during lectures. Tells us to do the difficult problems because he doesn't know how to explain them. Tests are VERY TOUGH and you will consider dropping his class after taking them.
Great professor.
Does not explain concepts well. Goes over them vaguely and tells us to do the difficult problems. He teaches like a professor at Yale or Harvard. Takes off points for minor arithmetic mistakes. Tests are hard because they are nothing like the homework or quizzes given. He should definitely teach somewhere else and not at OCC.
This professor is one of my favorites he makes his lecture a very comfortable place to ask questions and soak in information. Although his lectures are laid back it comes with the consequence of making sure you are caught up on your homework even though it was not graded.
This professor was not very helpful and seemed to assume that we already know the information he has been teaching for years. He reuses things from previous semesters that always seem to have mistakes on them.
Doesn’t seem to know how to teach that well. Lectures are really long and he talks real quiet and explains vaguely. Tests are difficult and he takes over a week to grade tests. No homework is graded. SI is some lady who apparently passed his class with a good grade. She can make you feel more confused
I want to like this professor, but he is very late at grading and his tests are unnecessarily brutal for no reason. He's one of those teachers that is very likable as a person and has no graded homework (why he has decent reviews), but when it actually comes to teaching he's not very good. Not sure if I will take him again.
Expects us to know concepts from previous classes. Never responds to questions posted on discussion board on D2L. No partial credit when grading tests, homework is not graded, but just done for practice.
Awesome professor, He really cares about each of his students and gives you all of the resources needed to pass the class.
Mark shouldn't be allowed to teach at all.
This professor is one of the worst ever. For an online class, he just uploads old lecture videos where he sounds like his lips are dry and constantly trying to wet them. He moans and drags on and doesn't really explain problems fully. Do not listen to the fake 5-star reviews he posts every few months.
Do not take him for an online class. We get a 1 hour lecture per week for a 4-credit class. In that one hour you'll only learn the basic concepts yet be tested at an advanced level.
He does not deserve a 4.1 rating. The problem with him was that you could only get a good grade on tests if you did the problems HIS WAY, if you did even one step differently, he would take off all points and fail you. I am glad that I stopped taking his classes. Does not respond to emails, discussion posts on D2L, or round ur grades. Enough Said!!
Professor, stop posting your own reviews just to make yourself seem like a good professor. You are not organized; you do not explain anything clearly; all you do is give handouts with problems that make no sense, and you never respond to emails or questions posted on d2l. seems a bit fishy that you'd waste your time to post a review.
He has poor communication, he changed the syllabus in the middle of the semester and told me he updated his students on it via email and dashboard, which was clearly a lie. He doesn't put effort in his lectures or students. He takes about a week to get back to his students when being emails or use the discussion boards.
This prof is hard/unforgiving. Go to office hours for help. Discussion board is ignored mostly. I'm behind in every area of life to 4.0 in this course. Algebra HEAVY course for diff eq. No EC, hard hw, tests. He admits his teaching has become less quality (harder) over the years. Video proctors exams, lectures drag on so horribly/confusing.
Mark is fantastic! His lecture vids are incredibly thorough, he goes through problems slowly and actually explains why things are the way they are. His handouts are great and make for very easy note-taking. He's also insanely organized and keeps a schedule so it's easy to stay on track. Follow the schedule and you'll be well-prepared for tests!
A waste of time. If you are okay with dealing with him or his SI good luck. Lecture quiz worth 5 points weekly. Exams have to be done via zoom.
The class I took was asynchronous and he had videos from a previous semester to watch. The videos had quite a few mistakes which were either not called out before this class or he didn't care to make a new video. He will take the time to help you out and will be forgiving with some questions, but you may need extra time to practice new material.
I have dyslexia and he goes through everything slow and thoroughly which made all the difference. He's also very sweet and TRULY doesn't believe that there is such thing as a stupid question. I want him to teach every math level every semester!
Does a great job of getting his point across and makes it really easy to pick up new information. Lecture quizzes every week that are worth 5 points and his test are formatted just like his practice test (so no trick questions). Homework isn't graded either. Only complaint is that Mark doesn't going to into further depth on some topics.
Professor Hopkins is a great Math professor. He is very clear about what is expected in his syllabus, and even provides a course calendar that he follows to a T. I'll be taking his classes for future math courses.
I took this class as a dual enrollment student from high school, and I actually really enjoyed this glad. Mark made calculus 2 fun and interactive. my only complaint was that some of his explanations felt overcomplicated at times, but overall he explained things well and made it easy to learn. He clearly cares about his students and is very helpful
Although his tests are on the difficult side, he is very clear with what will be on each test. His lectures are not dry or tiring even for a night class. He doesn't ramble endlessly and ends the class when the content is complete, and stays after class if you need help. For those who care, he is not heavy on proofs.
You will love to take him if you love hard core homework with a teacher who refuses to help and gets distracted. Avoid hi at all costs.
All he can do is crack jokes relies on online videos to teach. Lazy he is. Mean to students and does not care if you fali. He sets you up for faliure.
The biggest regret was being in his class I should have waited next semester for somebody that was not him.
I really like this professor as a person. He's a good dude, and his grading criteria is straight forward. The issue I found was his tests were brutal. You really need to be studying daily and do all the non-graded homework if you're going to want to actually pass the class. I thought I could just float by with just the lecture material alone.
Heavily relies on pre-recorded lectures, but office hours, along with SI sessions, are extremely helpful. Calc1 is difficult, so do expect to put in alot of work. He does take some time to get back to emails. Prac tests prepare you well for the actual tests. I've actually never done the hw, and the lec handouts and pracs prepared me well enough.
Watching pre-recorded lectures are a must (they aren't that bad on 1.5-2x speed). Very straight forward and easy to follow along content. Highly recommend going to OH or SI sessions if confused. Practice tests & lecture handouts prepare you well for tests (you'll know what to expect). Calc 1 in itself is hard, but you just have to put in effort.
I want to take this professor again.
The absolute worst professor. He really ruined my gpa. I spend lots of money on class. He laughs instead texting and he is not clear.
Don't take his class. You have to book office hours by email, but he never answers his email no matter how many times you reply. He'll answer a question you posted three weeks ago 2-3 hours before the exam, and he only grades exams and quizzes w/o any filler. I could've learned and understood calculus faster from Khan Academy than from Hopkins.
This professor has office hours that you can attend two times per week at variable times. This is a tough math class and you should know before you take this course that this class will require you to study daily, at least 4 hours per day if you want to give it your best. Compared to other professors, he's actually very kind and outgoing.
Can't communicate and won't email you back until weeks later. Definitely doesn't care about his students.
4 tests, cumulative final, 10 lecture quizzes, & 20+ question orientation quiz. He uses videos from 2020 (1 lecture per new subject) & they aren't helpful. It would be nice if he actually taught you how to do the hard problems he puts on his hard tests & lecture quizzes. You always feel lost and behind even though you're on schedule.
OCC's worst professor. Doesn't go over what will be on the exam because he dozes off and tells jokes.
Took Hopkins for three different math classes, if you're able to keep up with homework and do all the packets he offers then you'll be able to pass all of his classes, he really sets everything up for the students to pass and is very straight forward. Would def take again.
If I had to take another math class at OCC, I might consider taking an easier one with him. Math 1630 was really hard. He was very lenient when calculating final grades, though.
Hopkins is a very good professor when teaching online with lecture videos. Honestly, if you put in the time to rewatch his videos to fully understand the topics then you'll do well in his class.
He was super nice and explained the material perfectly. I was a little upset that he didn't round my grade up but it's okay. Just practice the material and you'll do fine. He's super funny too so it makes long lectures go by really quick!
Im in calc 2 now, and theres a lot that he was supposed to teach, that he didnt. I bet the curriculum changed between 2024 & 2020 (when he recorded his lectures). Theres a lot of mistakes in the videos that arent fixed, and a lot of gaps between lessons. He grades hard & by a lot. His rating should be a
He is a good teacher. he tells you whats going to be on the tests. its an easy class if you attend all the lecture. i dont know if i would take him for calc 2 doe.
I really enjoyed this professor, I felt that things were straight forward and the class is set up to see you be successful. I appreciated the help I received outside of the class and felt he was very kind and enjoyed his job. One of the best professors I had at OCC.
Absolutely fantastic Professor, I plan to take him for Diff EQ
Professor Hopkins is easily one of the worst professors I have ever had. Lectures are reuploaded from 2018-2020 and barely make sense, never curves a test and does not hear you out during office hours(group zoom meeting). Mark marks you down on tests if its not completed how he shows you, even if its correct. I would not recommend taking Mark.
The class can be hit-or-miss depending on the professor's teaching style. While lectures can be engaging, the content doesn't always align with exams. Using unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook can help fill in the gaps.
Just keep up with the practice problems and ask questions when you have them. I have seen him do problems over and over one on one with students to make sure that they have it down. This is one of the few professors where if you get a bad grade its your fault. He gives you every tool to succeed. He is very funny and kind. One of the best.
Mark Hopkins is good for math
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER YOU WILL PASS HE IS VERY KIND AND CARING AND IS WILLING TO SHOW YOU THE STEPS NO MATTER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE
Hes passionate about what he does, welcomes any and all questions, very patient. He won't make you feel dumb for asking a lot of questions,he prefers that;that way he knows what the students are grasping vs not.He tells you what's on the exam so you don't study for the wrong things. Math is hard, but he's willing to make it easier to understand
Good Professor
This professor is the worst professor. He doesn't know what independent chance is, improperly grades assignments, is inaccessible outside of class, and when you do track him down he will double down on the math that is wrong. I have had multiple students reach out to me during the class asking for help because he is not available for them.
I was spectacle after reading so many negative reviews online but found out that as long as you watch lectures, submit your assignments on time and study for tests you should be fine. All the tests are from material he teaches. It took me some time to understand his style otherwise I would have gotten an A. Would definitely take his class again
Taken a lot of professors between OU and OCC, Hopkins is the laziest. Grading criteria changes day to day and he'll bomb your final exam grade for stuff he never marked you down on before. Will take weeks for grades to come back anyway. Won't respond to emails so if you're taking an online class beware. His lectures are kind of slow and boring too.
Clear schedule for what to do daily. Some of the lecture videos had mistakes in them and were from 2020 but doesn't change the teaching too much which was fine. Not difficult work to do because his tests were very similar to the assignments and practice tests. Answer keys were spotty because he skips steps and expects them to be there on tests.
He sets you up for failure. Please take anybody but him. I have had bad math teachers but none of them add up to his horrible performance.
He acts like a chum in class but after hours especially in his office is an angry mean person. Refused to help and grunts about and complains.
Does absolutely no teaching just talking. Puts stuff online for you to go over. Expects you to know it all.
Expects you to know stuff does not teach talks too much and laughs in class bullies students. You do the math.
He's not a very bad professor, when you watch his lectures he sounds like he doesn't care but is still very smart. Only downside is he's very harsh at grading. He says he gives partial credit but his partial credit is if ur able to solve some of the problem it's 5/20 points. If u don't know a question u could lose 30% of the test just like that.
He does not go over anything I was lucky to have a math tutor and go to the tutoring center. I skipped his class to study extra.
Don't just don't take him.
His class is so hard. A bout a year later took math at Oakland University it was much easier.
This was my first college class and I thought it was very straight forward. Math comes easy to me, however, the lecture videos were thorough and explained everything you would need to know for lecture quizzes/ tests. The practice tests were very similar to the actual tests, and professor was upfront about what to expect on the final exam.
I had him for calc 1, hes solid. Doesnt care if you ask questions, he'll take the time to explain it mulitple ways if you say you don't get it. You do have to put in the work though, its a harder course so that should be common sense. Clear grading criteria, gives partial credit if you show work.
I took the class online—challenging but doable. Diff eq makes assignments tough, but he's helpful in office hours. Bad reviews don't do him justice; he's great with a clear schedule and organized D2L. Some worksheet/video errors can confuse. Exams truly test if you understand and can solve problems. Put in the work and you'll do well. Good Luck !
Sleeps on the clock tellls jokes does very few math problems he wants you to do yourself.
No need to attend class just do his problems. His tests are unreasonably tough.
Talks about his life makes fun of people complains and expects to perform well on the tests and just look things up.
Boring voice and puts us all to sleep. I could jot learn from him.
Talks off subject. Misseses more than 90% the class needs to know. I go to tutoring and thankfully work online. But some stuff on the syllabus was not on the test and vise versa.
This is definitely one of my favorite professors. He is very caring and willing to help students; he explains the material in a way that is easy to understand. It is also very easy to reach out for help. His in-person classes are WAY BETTER than his online classes. I'd definitely recommend him. Homework isn't mandatory either, tests are very easy.
The professor posts lectures, but some topics aren't clearly explained, so I often used YouTube or Khan Academy. Exams come from practice tests and homework, so repeating those helps. He replies to emails quickly. Overall, you mostly teach yourself, so take this class only if you're okay with independent learning.
Don't need to go to class he will talk and not teach learn all online and go to tutoring if you have too.
This math professor was absolutely fantastic! He explained concepts clearly, graded tests, quizzes, the final, and a project fairly, and was always approachable and supportive. He made class engaging, fun, and challenging in the best way. Truly one of the coolest and most effective teachers I've had!
Bro is chill. Take the lecture notes if you're online. Practice the listed exercises in the discussions, and you'll be golden. Don't miss out on the lecture quizzes. They can seriously help your grade. He does make some mistakes in the lecture videos, and it shows up too often to be comfortable, but I'd rather him than anyone else.
Good lectures, hw not mandatory so I never did it. As long as you go to class you should learn everything you need to know for exams. Will tell you what's on exams, especially if you ask, really nice too. Very limited EC, tough on grading exams imo. Otherwise, super chill. If I missed a class, his posted online lectures taught super well anyway.
Sits on the clock show sup late chats too much.
To fail his students why not fail his teaching mean spirited too. What does he even know about calc?
He is in omelette seating up a class and throws the studenrs under a bus for his misdeeds.
Cannot keep with the class. Doesn't know what he is doing.
Not nice. Does not work. He is very pompous. He stays after calls only to chat with students and get distracted.
Due to his incompetence he cannot cover most of his syllabus and then puts problems on his tests we did not even go over.
So bland. What can he do but not a single math problem. Sits and puts students to sleep.
Your entire grade is based on the tests. He skips things. You can learn more from online and tutoring than this guy. In less than a quarter of the class.
He makes you buy a bamboo tablet costing hundreds of dollars for the class. Then has this boring silent online lectures to listen to. His math problems on the test to take in person do not match his videos.
Does not know his numbers. Well he is the number one worst teacher ever.
I have learned more in grade school than with him. I can learn better with videos.
If you are off by a digit with your answers he marks you down significantly for tiny mistake. Instead of partial lost it all lost point.
The most disorganized class I have ever taken. Goes tooo fast when teaching and cannot repay just wants to talk and get it done and expects to know stuff. Including things on the tests that were never covered in lectures. And the final exam is culmalatice.
This class is a joke. Since he loves to joke around and not teach at laugh failures that he causes.
He is by far the worst teacher I have ever in my entire life. Four tests and the final is not only culmativiebwith new questions but stuff he does not go over in lectures.
This man misbehaves and then can't do his job. He wants you to just know the math problems and tells you just or them.
The nastiest, laziest sloppiest teacher I ever had. Talking too much in class when he should be teaching.
He has his slides and videos out of order his voice is boring. Does jot answer emails never. Problems on his tests not in his videos. Have use a bamboo tablet. Expensive.
This class is pitiful. Little gets done.
The only graded assignments were tests and lecture quizzes, which meant that tests could heavily affect your grade. He was really nice/funny, but would often skip steps when explaining new material which made it difficult to learn. If you want to do well you need to practice a lot outside of class on your own, his HW was not helpful so don't bother
Doesn't answer questions in class laughs out of nervousness. Won't answer emails is rude or distracting asking him in office. Stays after but kids chat after hours in the help session .
Lousy boring mean and inconsistent during his teachings.
He marks students off for the least of errors. But he can't add or subtract well let alone see his own errors in math and philosophy.
I cannot stand him. His behavior his teaching homework and tests. Four regular exams one cumulative most of which he refuses to cover.
HIs voice is boring with his videos teaching the math problems. Go to his office he won't anser and talk off topic. He doesn't anser emails. YOu have to buy a bamboo tablet for this class. TO top it off none of the problems on the test not like the ones his videos or homework.
Why bother showing up to class. HE won't teach he will goof off. Sometimes he's late. He will even skip subjects in class but put them on all his exams counting the cumulative final.
You have to be a big I mean really big math whiz just to survive his class.
Very little math problems he goes over online. Wants you to know them expects you to look them up. Even though he does not always specify which can be troubling when taking exams.
Confidentially he wants his sturndtd to use the internet and tutors while he can sit around. Even wanting them to use ai.
Thanks to him I dislike Math. I had good classes until him.
Does not hbell or answer questions or emails. He expects you to do it all by yourself and read his mind.
Mean can't complete a subject in class.
What does he know about math. Nothing. Just likes to talk and laugh.
He goes over the same problems in class in repetition but misses several topics and most of them are not on the exams.
