Very organized. Easy to understand and very enthusiastic about the material. Fun class even if you are not an art major. Good notes and attendance are imperative! One of the best at Palomar. Inspired me to appreciate art on a whole new level.
Truly one of the best! In fact, one of the three best Professors ever I've had. His classes are great. Lots of fun and informative. Really all you need to do to do well is attend the classes and take notes. If you don't understand something, just ask!!
His class was SUCH a great course ... I learned SO much about art history, and had a good time doing it. I encourage you to take his class!
Great teacher. Tells you everything you need to know for the test, no guessing. Great class!
The most organized person in the world! Don't be intimidated by the 20-page syllabus....it turns out to be very helpful. And guess what? Lectures are actually very interesting! Gasp! Who would have thought that Art History wasn't deathly boring after
lets just put it this way. He is the reason why I have decieded to major in art history at sdsu. take his class
BEST teacher ever! How on earth did PALOMAR get him?! Makes every work of art interesting & tells students precisely what to know for each exam/quiz. He should teach "teaching lessons" to all of the other Palomar Faculty!
Definetly the best! As long as you show up to class, you will get an A.(oh-and listen too!) Very clear, very organized, and pretty good sense of humor too!!
i cant believe i got into his class.. so awesome
Easily the most informative and entertaining class I've ever taken at Palomar. It's obvious he loves what he does, and he's hilarious! I can apply what I learned in his class on a daily basis. Take this class before you leave Palomar!
He'll make you love art if you don't and is just a great techer
Going to class is fun cuz all you do is look at slides, but for a 100 class, there is a lot to know. He is a very hard grader and any spelling errors on exams will get you. Extrememly tough grader on the museum paper as well. Seems to favor guys over girls. Good to take if this is your only class!
When I took 100 2yrs ago, I had no prob acing the class! U really need to show up & if u follow the syll., u should get an A on the paper. Author of last comment must be a paint sniffer! To allege that Hud is **** b/c of your own ignorance is low! You make me feel ashamed of my own sex:(
This guy rocks. His lectures are interesting and fun. Even if you don't like art, you will after his class. He is a perfectionist, takes teaching seriously, thus he is great at it.
Author of the comment on 11/11 must also know about paint sniffing. The guy is smart and informative but his classes do leave something to be desired. His ART 100 class is a lot of memorization of dates and dry slide viewing. He knows his art but he needs to relate to the class more. Never again.
The material is easy to learn and his lectures are interesting. I never found myself looking at my watch. His exams do require some studying, but with a little effort, an easy A. Gives you a novel for a syllabus (explains EVERYTHING you need to know), if you follow it, you’ll get and A.
One of the most humorous professors around for sure. He cracks a dirty joke here and there which keeps you awake. Um, but his Elvis phase has got to go.. midterms are tough and so are the quizzes, there's a LOT of memorization. I heard the other art professor was much much easier. So try him first..
Dont be scared of the syllabus. READ IT! It tells you everything you need to know about how to ace the class. Just remember to go to class. Very funny, in a goobery way. Love him, willing to compromise.
The man is frikin saweet.very into what he does, one of the few that actually cares about his studentsheakes his profession seriously. everything he does is very clear.like they all say the course packet helps a lot.art history sounds boring but this class for sure youll get a crap load out of it!!
Hez a great teacher. You will love the class!
He's a GREAT teacher, art history sound hard and a drag , but with him he makes it really funny and you will learn so much from the class. But i def recommend taking art 165 with him that class is hilarious when he explains all the pieces of art to you...
I loved the background information that this teacher provides on pieces of art. As far as over-views for art goes, this guy gives interesting details and a behind-the-scenes tour of the art world. My only complaint? Assumes all folks who take art 100 are ignorant to art. Give students some credit!
I was not interested in art b4 taking this class, but he makes it interesting & provides lots of info. u learn a lot in this class. overall its a pretty easy class, u dont have to read the book if u take good notes.
i have never seen some one so into such a boring subject. this class drags.
He is very prepared and knows his material. He gives opportunity for extra credit. If you take art 10 take him, you will learn a lot and it is not that boreing.
He is a great teacher and you learn alot about art history in his class. Tests are very easy if you study and listen in class. You MUST go to class, there are participation points and I lost them all bring my grade down a whole grade. Go to class, its cool anyway.
Great teacher. He is enthusiastic and very interesting.Like the reviews before this, I liked the background info.about different works and artists.Organized and straight forward.Attend lecture and read.Take Art with Hudleson!!!
the 1st day of class he hands a 10 page syllabus, telling exactly what you will do and everything is pretty easy. show up to class, take notes, and you will do great. plus you will get out of class really having learned something about art. the teacher is also really funny!!!
This man is truly one of the greatest teachers that I have had ever had the privilege of having. If you have the chance, take anything he teaches.
Huddelson is an awesome teacher. He knows his art down to the wire, you will learn a lot about art in his class. Tests, midterms, and the final are easy if you study for them and take notes he goes over everything you need to know for the tests. very funny and obbsessed with ELVIS!!! good teacher if you take art take it with Huddleson.
Mr. Hudleson is a great art teacher. Wish I was going to be at Palomar in the Fall to take Art 166 from him! Tests and quizzes are pretty easy because of the course packet, and practice tests and study guides on his website. The paper is not bad at all, just be *very* specific in your descriptions. Do the work, go to class, and you'll succeed!
This class is my favorite class I have taken in college. I had no interest in art going into the class, and now I would love to take more classes from Prof Huddelson because he was such a great teacher. He made the class super interesting, but just make sure you show up to class. I got an A easily becasue I never missed. Others who did failed.
AWESOME TEACHER!
He is a really nice teacher, and his tests aren't that hard. He assigns an essay, but he grades it very easily.
My favorite Art history teacher ever...he's the reason I chose Art history as my major when I transferred to UCSD. I still keep in touch with him, and he is great at giving advice if you choose this major
He's one of the best teachers at palomar. He's clear, outgoing, and diserves every penny he's paid. Awesome teacher and very helpful.

When I took this class, I was very skeptical about it. I didn't think an art history class could be very interesting. Prof. Hudleson, though, is an awesome teacher. His tests aren't all that difficult; all he really requires is that you show up, pay attention and take a few notes. He's pretty clear on what he expects from you, though I wish he gave us a few more extra credit options. I don't think I'd do half as well in this course with a different professor.
very good teacher!! this class helped me figure out my major.
He is the reason that I now love art! It's somewhat hard to get all the paintings down with the artist and title. But it's totally worth it. I have a total new appreciation for art. He always tells cool stories along with the paintings.
Hudelson is great. He really loves what he does and it rubs off-- I actually looked forward to coming to his class and enjoyed learning about art history. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Hudleson is awesome! He is so into art that it is contagious. This is the best class. I learned so much this semester. I recommend everyone take one of his art classes. If you come to class listen and take notes you will pass with an A. Professor Hudelson is the "King of Art" and a total Elvis fan LOL
He is such a great professor. You can really tell that art is his passion. This is a very interesting class. I came into this class wanting to get it over with, but the things you learn in his class are so intresting. I would totally recommend him.
Must take art history with Hudelson! very nice guy. all the good things other people have said are true. its hard to find a cooler teacher. there is no hw except the EC if you choose to do it and thats easy. doesnt require too much studying. he makes this class and subject very fun to learn about. i wasnt interested in art but i am glad i took it
Hudelson is a very good teacher. He knows a lot about art. He makes the class interesting and there is no homework but you can do extra credit qhich is not hard. You have to memorize a lot of stuff, but its pretty easy.
THIS GUY IS COOL! HE TAKES A SUBJUECT THAT ORDINARILY WOULD SUCK AND MAKES IT INTERESTING. STAY AWAKE AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROVIDED OUTLINE AND PASSING THIS CLASS WIL BE ATTAINABLE. I ACTUALLY LEARNED A LOT IN THIS CLASS AND HE IS NICE, AND FUNNY WHILE MAKING IT EASY TO LEARN AND RELATE TO THIS USUALLY BORING SUBJECT. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Mr. Huddleson rocks! He can make the most boring peice of art funny. He's a good teacher with a great sense of humor and everything in his class is straight forward. I Got a D on the first quiz....make sure you study =(
Excellent professor. Clear, interesting and funny. Prof. H knows what he's talking about and clearly loves the subject. This makes his class even more enjoyable to go to. Extra credit is given that can boost your grade up 5 percentage points! Do it it's easy! He pretty much tells you how to write the paper. Listen and you'll ace it.
MARK HUD! I love this guy! He's really nice, an Elvis fan, knows what he's talking about, quizzes are reasonable on the difficulty scale. He can't stand to say things about sex and such but who cares, he kicks ass! I think that he's awsome and art people should get him!
DUDE!!! Probably the most organized teacher of all time!! 27 pg syllabus! His organization made it that somewhere around 25-30 people in my class got A's. Pretty tough on unexcused absences though! 5 absences is a full letter grade!! Besides that, I learned a TON in his class. 1 Museum paper, 4 test (pretty easy though), and 2 qz (80% got A)
The best teacher Palomar college has!!!
Mark Hudelson is so organized and he makes it REALLY interresting and fun. This is so far my favorite class. Its easy to keep up with this class as long as you pay attention and do the reading. I hope that if i become a college prof that my students will like me this much. great job!
Great teacher! except I have to say, attendance sucks. It's okay for him to miss a class, but not okay for us. I think if he misses a class, we should get one of our absences redeemed. Overall, really interesting class and easy as long as you pay attention.
very good with verbal AND visual teaching..uses slides while talking.. plus gives you a course guide to follow along in class.
Good Teacher I agree; attendance not fair. He doesn't have to show up, but if we don't, it affects our grade. NOT fair.
Great teacher, great attitude and very nice. One of my favorite classes ever! Recommend to anyone but if you don't study you will not pass.
I appreciated how the class was taught. It is a good experience being taught by this professor because he makes the class go by fast with slides and it is sometimes funny with the things he says without him trying to be funny.
Overall the class is very interesting. He is a great teacher, makes the class not a total bore. If you show up, so you can hear the lectures, you will pass easily. I highly suggest you take his classes!
He's really nice and very interesting. The grading isn't to bad and he drops one quiz so that'd nice. The only annoying thing is that he misses class a lot and doesn't give you warning and you HAVE to attend or he deducts it from your grade.
Prof. Hudelson is an interesting teacher. He knows how to hold your attention and adds in some fun stories from his own life. The class is pretty easy 3 quizzes, 3 tests. You get to drop 1 quiz and there is extra credit. The only annoying thing is that he misses quite a few days of class (5 in all this semester).
Professor Hudelson wants you to succeed. He gives you everything you need in the course packet to do well. Follow the lectures closely, take down his spoken definitions, attend class and you will do well. The trick for you is going to be memorizing the works of art. I used flashcards with small images of the works of art. Worked great for me
Since I took Mr.Hudleson's class, I've developed love for art and find meaningful art pieces like never before!
Excellent class--Hudelson is outstanding!
Best, most interesting class I've ever taken. Great professor!
easy class, but you have to show up to do well. all the notes you take in class are the questions on the test. if you know the information and the art work you will do well.
I enjoyed this class, he did a great job keeping the material interesting. Just study the works of art and you will have no problems! I would recommend this class to everyone.
Great Professor, go to class take notes and you will do great on the tests. He keeps the material interesting!
Great class! if you arent even interested in art you will be when you have prof hudelson as your teacher. everything is consistently interesting and the tests are a piece of cake if you attended class.
Get the Study Guide, follow it closely and you will ace this class. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests. Attend class, take notes and you're in. He makes learning art history fun. He will not pass out A's freely but they're easy to get if you do what he asks. Great class.
Professor - Great style of teaching, helpful, answers questions clearly, funny and understandable. Textbook – Don’t really need it, don’t buy it save money. Buy a copy of “Course Packet” (required for the class) it runs little under $18. Class Lecture – Lots of slides, bring snacks (candy or energy drinks work great) to keep you awake and also t
On the outside he looks like a nice guy and you know what? He is! Great guy and makes art fun and interesting, and sometimes makes fun of it in the process. Crazy about Elvis, and brought up interesting things I never noticed in art. TAKE HIM FOR ART!
One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. He's fun, nice, and explains things very clear. I highly suggest taking him if you have a passion for art, he only makes it stronger. And he loves Elvis! Why wouldn't you want to take him?!
awesome teacher, very clear and makes it easy to understand.Tests and quizzes are easy if you go to class and take good notes. Great class!!!!
Awesome teacher. Very helpfull and makes class interesting by telling funny stories. Very easy to talk to for help after class.
Great teacher tells stories about art to keep intrest. His test are short but difficult, however he gives you all the information you need to succede. You need to read the book however because of the short essays on the test. It's a college class you have to put in some time.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Great guy, taught me TONS about art and I love it more than I already did. His tests are easy and studying for them is like a good 20 minutes at home. So yeah take him, he's awesome!
Actually knows what he's talking about!!He's a really cool teacher makes art fun even the ones that I thought wasn't going to be. He made me like and appreciate art that I never really liked before.Oh his class is more art history(not bad). My boyfriend took Art100 but different a teacher and his class was more learning about colors, lines, etc.
Best teacher hands down.
This guy knows his art it's almost not funny. Come to cllass awake because the lights are off and you look at slides as he talks about each one. Inspired me to go to Italy!! There is no getting around studying. Focus on the art in the text. make flash cards for artists and their works. It helped me!!! Over all and interesting class!!! :]
Mr. Hudelson is one of my favorite teachers here! He is funny and really into what he teaches! I was not interested in art at all when I started his class but he made it fun. It was one of the best classes I have taken so far and I think it is because he is such a great teacher.
Professor hudelson is a great art professor. i was just taking this class for a requirement, with little interest in art, but he made it interesting. his tests are pretty easy, his quizzes are harder than his tests, because u have to memorize a bunch of terms, but 1 of 3 will be dropped. i came out of this class liking art a lil more. great teacher
absolutly wonderful! very helpful and wants his students to pass. attend classes and listen. he'll tell you what you need to know. this class was by far the best art I've ever taken!
It was a great experience! He's got some jokes and loves Elvis. He takes attendance so show up & you'll get all the participation points, study for tests and midterms nothing new! Just try and you will get an A. I'm going to take his art 166 next semester. Take his class!
GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!! really helpful and he gets you into the subject. Even people with no interest level and just taking the class for requirements will LOVE the class. All the stories aboiut artists makes it great. Who knew art history could be so much fun?!?!?!
You just want to give this guy a big hug. He is awesome, fun, and makes art interesting. Easy to talk to, his tests are basic, just read over his study guide and you'll be fine. If there is anyone out there who has ANY hatred towards this man, you should not even be alive! Go Hudleson!
He's seriously probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. Lectures are very clear and he knows practically any detail you could ask about a work of art. His discussions are interesting and at times really funny. He's a really nice guy and cares about his students. Tests and quizzes are easy if you study. He loves what he teaches and it shows.
Mr. Hudelson is not only an amazing teacher, but in my opinion the BEST teacher in all of Palomar. He's kind, helpful, crystal clear in lectures, and a great friend. He always treats everyone with respect and is a fantastic person all around. I have taken him for a year and this is my last class with him and I am really going to miss him!
Mr. Hudelson is not only an amazing teacher, but in my opinion the BEST teacher in all of Palomar. He's kind, helpful, crystal clear in lectures, and a great friend. He always treats everyone with respect and is a fantastic person all around. I am really going to miss him after this semester!
Love the powerpoint presentations. You go over about 100 slides and only lable 10 on the tests, which is a little overwhelming. Go to class and you should do ok. I haven't read the book since the first few weeks or so and am getting a B. One thing that kind of bugs me is he mispronounces names, places and art terms that are pretty well known.
I strongly recommend taking ART 100 with professor Hudelson.. it's a great class and he's a great teacher. He makes art history interesting. Go to class.. pay attention.. and study for the quizzes and exams.. and it'll be an easy A.
I have learned so much after taking his class. Fairly easy if you take the time to pay attention and study for the tests. Great teacher, i had so much fun in his class.
This art teacher is one of the best teachers I have had in a long time. He has a great teaching style and he goes more in depth than the text book. He has interesting stories relating to art and art history. This is the teacher to have for ART 100.
Fantastic teacher! He is more about art history rather than color, lines, etc. He is one of the best and most interesting teachers I've had. I HIGHLY recommend him, you won't be sorry! TAKE HIM!
Awesome teacher! Don't let the 17 page syllabus scare you. Never any homework, no paper, just studying. Class is always watching slides and lecture. Funny guy, would love to take again. I do think that although it's an easy class, studying artists/periods is important to do well. Tests are not cumultive. TAKE HIM< HE"S GREAT!
This was an awesome class! I absolutly loved it and was one of my favorite classes!Professor Hudleson is one of the greatest professors! His information is crystal and he is extremely helpful and understanding. I definatly recommend his class!
He?s excellent! He keeps things light and as entertaining as he can to keep your attention. He is very helpful and is willing to give you any advice or clarification that you need. My suggestion is to make note cards with the art on one side and the info on the other. It really helps for the tests.
I love this teacher! he really wants his students to do well and he makes his lectures pretty entertaining. I never mind having to go to his class, quizes and midterms are easy just pay attention in class and take notes. loved him!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TEACHER!! He is one of the best thus far. His lectures were always very fun and interesting. Extra credit is pretty easy but you have to stay on top of it. I thought quizzes were harder than tests but as long as you study you're golden. TAKE HIM! Always willing to help!
I really enjoyed/was deeply disappointed that we spent so much time on the Renaissance. It's a great period that he loves, so it was awesome to learn about. However, in order to cram in the typical material mandated for the course, everything after Mannerism and the Baroque felt was ridiculously rushed. Awesome teacher, but class too short.
Nicest professor out there. You could easily get an A in the class by simply studying. I didn't attend his class very often but I wish I did. He's an awesome professor
I took both art 100 and 165 just because of him! Hudelson is one of the greatest professors I have had at palomar! If you want to learn about the history of art, and have a whole lot of fun doing so take him! you don have to buy the book if you go to class! He is wonderful! both my boyfriend and I still rave about him
He's a great teacher, but don't expect his class to be super easy. You absolutely have to study for the tests, and if you want to do well on the quizzes you need to read the book. Class is always funny, and you need to show up. Never any homework, just 3 tests and 3 quizzes. He drops your lowest quiz score, which is nice. Easy A if you study.
mr hudelson is way chill. he made class fun and exciting. no assignments just test and quizzes but there really easy if you study. i thought learning about art would be boring. but he explains everything so well. definitely take him if you wanna learn about art history
Prof Hudelson is great! Definitely one of the best teachers at Palomar. He lectures are very interesting thorogh, and if you take decent notes and read the book the class is pretty easy. I had no interest in art history until I took this class. Definietly recommend if you need to fulfill your art requirement.
What a great professor to take for Art 100. He's really into teaching Art, has a great sense of humor, and he doesn't make the class boring at all. I wish I could say the same for the rest of my classes. This class is fairly easy, and it's been a while since I've looked forward to coming to a class.
his lectures arent exactly by the book but be careful. just because he doesnt go over a lot of material from the course packet doesnt mean its not on the quizzes or tests. be sure to read the chapters too because those help for the tests and quizzes.
He is an amazing professor who knows his subjects. He is very clear what he is explaning, and he is always available if you have any question. Test are very easy if you study his notes and the course packet. He doesn't ask for things that he doesn't teach in class.
HE IS AN AWESOME PROFESSOR! I LOVED THE CLASS IT IS VERY HARD TO STAY AWAKE IF UR TIRED BCUZ THE ENTIRE ROOM IS DARK AND ALL U DO R TAKE NOTES AND LOOK AT SLIDES. HIS TESTS R EASY AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION. READING THE CHAPTERS R IMPORTANT BUT OVERALL MY NOTES HELPED ME OUT WEN I DIDNT HAVE TIME TO READ.TAKE THIS CLASS! U WILL LIKE IT!
Loved him! One of the best teachers at Palomar by far. Lots of information, and the class does require you to study, but there are NO SURPRISES. He tells you what he expects, and all the multiple choice questions on the tests come directly from the study guides and movie guides, which he gives the answers to on his website. Attendance is important.
Really cool teacher he knows his stuff really awesome art history
Awesome professor, he's nice & funny & his teaching is SO CLEAR. he doesn't beat around the bush, all the tests are straight from class notes, but for quizzes make sure you read the book. go to class every day, take notes, and stay on top of the reading. he gets straight to the point & class is hardly ever boring. great, clear professor.
Had Professor Hudelson for 3 courses. Best teacher at Palomar. Had him for Art 100, Art 165, and Art 166. Would recommend him for any art history course. Super nice, helpful, and has great joy in art (making it fun and memorable for students)! A++++
Great Professor! I learned a lot about art that I never knew before. His course and style of teaching changed my personal prospective of art in terms of interpretation. No term paper(yeh!) but has an essay question as part of his midterm and final exam.
First day he said it wasn't going to be a drawing course:( Well, I'm glad I didn't switch to another course. Prof. Hudelson is the best! I got an A. He gives extra credit worth an additional 5% towards the final grade. His lectures are to the point! He is very *chill* Participation is mandatory, but hes fun to be in class with. Take him!!
He is a great art teacher. Very enthusiastic and its actually fun to just sit and listen to him talk about the art. Tests are easy. quizes are easy. Autoimatic A. Attendance is mandatory. its 10 percent of ur grade so if you miss one day thats 1 %
Phenomenal teacher! I looked forward to coming to his class. Very organized. Exams were easy. Take good notes, but more importantly, pay attention during lecture. Most of the content is easy to remember simply because he's such an effective lecturer & talks about it in a way that makes it very interesting.
Really great teacher. Goes over everything clearly. He makes everything REALLY interesting even if your on the verge of passing out. VERY HELPFUL. He will make you buy a course packet that he put together. Very well spent 25 dollars if you ask me.
Typically I've had professors that are brilliant in their field, but aren't the greatest teachers, or vice-versa. Prof. Hudelson is exceptional at both (extremely knowledgeable and great at teaching!) Lots of memorizing, of course. EASILY the nicest professor I've ever had.
He is a great teacher. He explains things really clearly and he is really interesting! His tests and quizzes are also pretty easy as long as you memorize the art you're suppose to! Make sure you somewhat read the book because he sometimes throws in a question or two about stuff he didn't cover in class.
This class was awesome. I enjoyed Professor Hudelson so much! If he wasn't such a great teacher, I can see how this class can be boring. He always kept the class alive with his slide shows and stories he told. His exams are reasonable IF you study. Studying is definitely a necessity in this class. The only homework you get is to study. Take it!
Loved this class! Professor Hudelson does a great job keeping his class interesting and easy to follow. The test are easy IF you study and he doesn't have a final. Three quiz's (drops lowest score) and three midterms. His course packet is the key to passing the class. I recommend taking him! His online website is VERY helpful too!
This class is awesome and so is the teacher. I highly recomend taking this teacher for Art 100!He's very clear on what will be on your midterms and quizes. And also he'll drop your lowest quiz score. Also studying from the course packet + textbook(for slide images)+ notes from lecture=Success in the class! :D also he idolizes Elvis
Great and helpful professor, really loves the subject and its easily noticeable. Taking this class makes me want to travel the world! Participation is mandatory, offers extra credit, and he tells you everything that you will be tested on. Just study!
He gives you a ton of information. This class involves a lot of memorization for the tests. He gives you study guides and tells you all you need to know. For the slides you need to know Artist, Title, Period, Culture, or Location. Only two out of three quiz grades count. I studied a lot for this class it is not an easy A
Wonderful class. Hudelson is knowledgeable and personable, as well as passionate, which really engages you. He is so funny and energetic, as well. If you come to each class, pay attention, take some notes on works of art, you will definitely ace the course. Very easy A. A fun and interesting one, at that.
This was a very interesting and enjoyable Art History class. I never expected to be so drawn into the lectures and information that was presented. Professor Hudelson is an excellent instructor. As long as you come to class, take good notes, do your reading, and pay attention you should do fine. A+
I took this class to fulfill a transfer requirement. But I really enjoyed it. Prof. Hudelson really knows his stuff! The class was fun and I learned a lot.
This class was great. You definitely have to study, and memorize a lot but it is worth it. Hudelson is an awesome teacher, and you learn so much. He really enjoys teaching this subject, and it makes the class even better.
He is a great teacher. His class is interesting and not horribly hard. It definitely pays to show up because most of the midterms are based on what he says. The quizzes are a bit tough though. Fun class all and all.
I took all of Hudelson's art classes at Palomar.I wish he taught more than 3! He is the best art history teacher ever! Taking his class turned me into an art history major. He really knows his stuff and enjoys teaching it. You will definately not fall asleep in this class!
Prof. Hudelson was an awesome teacher. I learned alot from his class and it was easy for me to pass his class. I am not saying that it will be easy for everyone but Hudelson is always willing to help you if you are in need. I loved being in his class and can't wait to take the next level.
Prof. Hudelson was awesome, learned a lot more in the class then I thought I would. Tells you everything you need to know for tests. Although quizzes are a different story, make sure to ask for definitions if you are unsure. But he is extremely helpful, loved taking the class. And can't wait to take more classes with Prof. Hudelson.
This is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Everything on the test is learned during lectures in class. Professor Hudelson is funny, kind, and his enthusiasm about his subject is contagious. There are extra credit opportunities. Quizzes require studying from the textbook. He is understanding and welcoming to questions and input.
He is the best professor I have ever had by far. Take his class. Seriously. Nothing is a surprise on the tests or quizzes; he tells you exactly what you need to know.
Seriously the best class ever! Be there, pay attention, take notes, and you will be good for the tests!!! You actually learn a lot and retain a lot of information from him! Definitely a must take if you need it for your GE requirements or for your major
He's a very friendly and entertaining teacher. He has very clear and useful power points that he lectures from, and he makes it extremely clear what information you need to know for the tests. Just show up and pay attention and make sure you know the slides in your book and you'll do fine. LOVES ELVIS.
Awesome professor. He really loves his subject, and you can tell. Great stories about the art. Doesn't require many dates to be memorized. Use his youtube videos for study guides, write down and memorize the slides at the end and you will do great. I got an A on every test/quiz/paper. Very easy museum paper, good excuse to go to the Getty Villa!
Professor Hudelson is AWESOME! I loved this class! He made the lectures really interesting and understandable. It showed how much he appreciates art. Just make sure to study for the quizzes and exams and you'll be fine. Lots of memorizing works of art, but it's worth it!
Awesome professor! I was dreading taking this course because I heard how boring it could be BUT, he made it incredibly interesting. He's very organized and you know exactly what to expect on tests & quizzes. Really funny guy but, attendance and note taking are important because he doesn't waste class time.
One of the most organized professors I've ever taken. His lectures are great because you can feel the passion through his voice. He's genuinely funny. He uses other sources like cram, youtube, and many other materials to help study for tests. I haven't finished the course yet, because I'm currently taking it, but I highly recommend this professor!
Hudleson was a great professor! He really knows and loves what he teaches, and he makes it interesting, even though i didnt think it would be. I definitely recommend him!
definitely passionate for the subject, shows enthusiasm everyday. i will say he does go fast explaining the artwork. very organized and on time. the tests are easy if you study, dont get me wrong you have to work for an A
Such an awesome professor! Tells many interesting stories during his lectures which makes them fun. Extremely helpful in preparing for exams. Coming to class will be very helpful for exams. Was my favorite class this semester!
Really great teacher I learned a lot in both 165 and 166 and got an A in both but with extra credit...DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!
Best teacher ever. Very passionate, helpful, and makes the class very interesting. He tells stories behind most paintings and makes it fun to listen too. I could tell that he's very dedicated and works really hard to help his students get the best results. his tests are easy if you do the study guides and do the flashcards. He's very funny too.
My favorite class this semester. It is a lot to memorize and remember but he is the most organized teacher I have ever had and if you go to class every day and take notes you will be fine. Such an interesting class it almost made me want to change my major.
He should really teach at a university. His skills should be used for a more educated group of people. Most organized professor i have ever had.
My favorite teacher ever. His lectures are so detailed and captivating, time seriously flies! He is super funny and nice. Always there if you need help. Not intimidating and extremely organized. HIGHLY recommend this professor. I'm planning on taking all his classes.
One of my favorite profs! He gives you necessary study materials you need so there is really no excuse to not pass. He didn't really assign homework besides reading (which I don't think many people really did). He's funny & his keynotes make his lectures so interesting! You just need to take good notes & try not to miss class. 3 test & 3 quizzes.
participation is attendance, which is 10% of your grade, dont skip this class and do the extra credit for 5% of your grade.
By far my favorite course and professor! I took this class at Grossmont college and failed. I passed with a B+ when I took it with Hudelson. There should be no reason you don't receive a passing grade. He offers an immense amount of tools to prepare for test and quizzes! 3 quizzes, 3 test, one paper. He is an easy grader if you follow instructions.
Great Professor! His lectures were very interesting! Show up to class, take notes, study, study, study ... and you will do great. His quizzes, midterm and final are not that hard at all if you study. Overall, I would actually like taking another course with him.
The most organized professor I've had so far. He is an excellent educator. He loves Elvis and has told us about his scripts a couple of times. I hope he becomes a millionaire off those scripts because he deserves it. Please study the paintings and read the book! The greatest class I've had so far, I'm taking another one of his next semester!
This class was the most difficult class I have taken so far, but it was so worth it. It involves a lot of studying & memorization, you have to work hard. I'm a better student thanks to this class & have learned a lot. 3 quizzes, 3 midterms, a paper, & extra credit. The extra credit bumped my grade to an A, its 5% of a letter grade. Hard work A.
Professor Hudelson was a great teacher, I just loved learning everything he had to teach us in his class! Although I'm a devout English major, he definitely has me considering minoring in art history. All this and he's an Elvis fan, too! Talk about impeccable taste!
Proff Hudelson is by far the best teacher I've had at Palomar. I had no knowledge of art and now I feel like I can work at a museum. He's very understanding, easy to talk to, super chill, and genuinely cares for his students. Offers lots of extra credit. Easy A if you study for vocab quizzes and has study tools on his website for the midterm/final
He puts so much time into his lectures to make it easy to memorize and fun at the same time! He is in love with Elvis and the rams and he is so funny about it!! I would take his class again in a heartbeat. I have never been good at tests before until this class, he gives you everything that is on the test and you know exactly what to study for.
He's honestly a real amazing professor. His class is easy to get an A if you read the texts and study for the quizzes/exams . also He gives you the tools and resources you need to pass the quizzes, midterm and final. I recommend doing the extra credit because it bumps you up 5 percentage points.i will more thank likely take the next class up
He's a great professor overall. His lectures are very informative, but be sure to study and read the assignments he gives you or else you won't do very well on the quizzes. His syllabus is very specific and everything is planned out for the entire semester. Art history could be boring, but he made it exciting and easy to learn!
Take his class! Mark is very organized and clear with his expectations. His lectures are amazing! You can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches. only a couple of quizzes that were matching definitions/ concepts, a midterm, and a final. No homework. Make sure you study though, it will be harder to get an A if you don't.
This is by far the best professor I've had. He makes learning so much fun. He is very clear on how the tests are going to be graded and the quizzes. Uses PowerPoint for his lectures which are very neatly done. oh and he loves Elvis and the rams so he'll randomly put one of those on his slides! very funny and caring guy.
I took Prof Hudelson for Art100 (Art History) this semester, and let me just say, I have never had a more caring professor. I had a lot of family stuff going on, and he was more than willing to work with me and was sympathetic about me having to miss class. That being said, attendance is huge for him, as is paying attention. Highly recommend.
He is a really awesome professor. He gets into his lectures and makes it really interesting. I thought it would be boring but it was my favorite class!
Huddleston was the best teacher Ive ever had in my entire life. I took his art history 101 and 102, 10 years ago. His lessons of stayed with me Since. I feel so bad for people who dont get an opportunity to take its courses. I learned more about culture and history in this class than anything Ive ever taken in my entire life. Pearls.
I definately would take this class again. He is one of the best professors i've had.
Though it seems daunting that his syllabus is 20 pages, he is such a fantastic teacher and gives you every bit of information needed throughout the semester in those pages. His lectures are captivating and hes a bit of a character, you can tell he really loves teaching. Hes approachable, dependable, and loves Elvis. Definitely take his class
He is absolutely wonderful. He took a subject that I had no real interest in and made me love it. His passion for both art and teaching shine through. I can't say enough great things about him. If you need to take an art class, or even if you just want to, definitely take it with him.
I took him my first semester at Palomar. I loved his class.. I think I got a B and it was my fav class... Definiately would take again.. Also remember the key word Elvis... Have fun, be relaxed, and learn!
I LOVED HIS CLASS! Easy, exciting, and I've gained a strong appreciation for art now. As long as you show up for class, it's an easy A.
Mark was definitely my professor this semester!!! He made art history so much fun and interesting to learn about. I feel like I came out of his class every time learning something new and interesting. He definitely loves the subject and is a great professor. Hes super hilarious and an overall caring person! ps. dont forget the word elvis ;)
He was an amazing Professor. Get ready to remember Elvis Presley. He loves him, I believe he adores him! I think that overall this class was my favorite for a first semester introductory to Art. This is a history class, so don't expect to do any art in this class, remember to know the definitions tho. Have fun!
Hes seriously so cool! As long as you put in the work, you are sure to pass with an easy A! Lectures can be long but all the material for quizzes are in the lectures! Really enjoyed having this class and would recommend him to anyone. Hes hilarious and truly enjoys Art.
Probably my favorite class I've taken so far. His lectures are very interesting and entertaining. As long as you show up prepared and take good notes, you should be able to pass with an A. Optional extra credit requires the textbook, otherwise I only used my notes to study for the midterm and final. Definitely a class worth taking!
So I finished the extra credit as instructed yet I didnt recieve it... grades you for attendance as if you were in high school. His lectures are fair, too many things he makes you memorize only to test you on a few things.
This class was fairly easy. All you have to do is show up, pay attention to the lecture and study for quizzes and exams. I recommend not waiting until the day before to study for the midterm and final! Studying has the biggest impact on your grade. Do it, and youll thank yourself.
Prof Hudelson was my favorite professor I have had so far!! He was very kind and made the class interesting when I thought it was going to be a drag . Dont go on your phone , show up to class and participate and you will have an A!
I took his Art 100 class and I loved it. Genuinely considered finding another one of his classes that have nothing to do with my major just for brain food. He is caring, and will make time for you IF you ask. Expects you to actually do your work and provides you with TONS of resources to get em done. Even his own workbook & dope PowerPoints. LOVE!
By far my favorite Professor I've had. Very caring man. The material is pretty boring, but his powerpoint lectures are amazing.
Im definitely not an art major but the class was really interesting. He is by far my favorite Professor Ive ever had. Hes so kind, and very understanding. Hes so passionate about his job and it rubs off on his students! He gets back to emails very fast and will help anyone, all you have to do is ask. Highly recommended him!!
Professor Hudelson is one of the best professors I've had. The class is not too difficult and he makes it enjoyable with the circumstances we have. He gives good feedback and is very encouraging.
I had a lot of fun learning because his lectures were easy to follow and made funny jokes. But they were mainly straight to the point. There were 4 vocab quizzes so it was easy to study especially if you watched all the lectures on YouTube and took notes all the way through you cannot fail. I want to take 102 by him.
Prof. Mark Hudelson is an amazing teacher. He is very passionate about his work and made the subject a lot of fun. Keep up to date with assignments and you will pass with an easy A.
Professor Hudelson made art history so enjoyable! His lectures are funny and entertaining and you can tell he is passionate about the subject. As long as you follow the workbook and watch his lectures his class is super manageable.
As a dualenrollment student, I recommend ProfessorHudelson, even if you don't enjoy art. He's easygoing and tells jokes. Rather have a funny, happy teacher, than a grumpy, irritable one. Grading criteria clear. Study the terms, read the chapters. Easy exams. He gives extra credit! My first college professor and no one has matched up to him!
Pros: understanding, funny, relaxed, reachable, passionate, gives feedback, clear grading criteria, easy quizzes, easy exams, easy discussions if you study and watch the lectures Cons: lectures are lengthy, reading is long, lots of information to learn, lots of terms to memorize
Boring talking head, clicking slide kind of approach. The purpose of Art 100 is to develop the consciousness to appreciate Art. For many students this is their first and possibly last encounter with Art. In my opinion if the professor can't stimulate the student's interest then he has failed in his objective.
Professor Hudelson makes this art class surprisingly engaging. He's passionate and funny, keeping lectures lively. Just stay on top of the readings and you'll do well. unstuckstudy flashcards were a lifesaver for mastering the art terms.
He is very passionate and VERY knowledgeable on art history. He's really organized and very clear about what he wants for the extra credit and what will be on tests. Honestly the most chill professor I've had and made me enjoy art history. No HW, just 4 tests and 2 extra credit options. He gives a detailed guideline on what will be on tests
Do not take this class if you don't have time to read and study. Literally just all memorizing and it's so boring.
He was super chill and if your social at all talk to him he is a great guy and loves art he will talk about football and music to (cough cough Elvis) and I had a great time just being in his class.
I've had 4 years of professors and this professor has been one of the most genuinely enthusiastic and enjoyable professors to listen to. Even though it is all lecture, there were very few times my focus slipped. He's really engaging to listen to. His jokes always made me smile even when they weren't funny, in a charming way. Highly recommend!!!
This guy is awesome, although his lectures are long you can tell that he really cares about what he's teaching. Mark answered every question I had not only correctly but in detail. Definitely would take this class again, learned a bunch of cool facts about art.
Professor Hudelson really made my time in Art 100 a breeze I could tell by the way he talks in lectures that he is very passionate about art (And Elvis) Make sure to attend every lecture as many of the things he goes over in lecture are on the test the quiz terms study them ahead of time using quizlet or knowt it will make your life easier.
He's a pretty good professor, you can tell he cares a lot about what he's talking about. The graded work is a few quizzes where you need to memorize a ton of terms (use a flashcard app!) Not super important but he does sometimes use AI images in his slideshows which is an ick but I guess not a reason to not take him
Really shows care about art, good teaching/lectures.
Amazing professor, All you need study the art names and practice the quizes. Everything is clear from day one. It was really fun class for me. Love it.
By far my best professor this semester. He's really funny and puts a lot of effort into his lectures, sometimes they can get a bit boring but everything he is teaching is very clear and will most likely end up on the tests. There's no homework or assignments, just study the terms before tests (flashcards help) and you'll be fine. Loves Elvis.
That he says hes retiring in a year. So 2026 may be the last chance to take this class. His lectures are great. Hes super passionate about art. Hes funny and very reasonable. If you have any issues just talk with him. Odds are he will be understanding. Just a great professor all the way around. His classes are real fun. I looked forward to it
