Very good professor, one that will prepare you for a 4 yr college. Strick but helpfull. Want to learn, then take him.
He is the worst teacher I've had at BMCC. With him it is almost impossible to succeed. It is as if he takes pleasure in failing students then pretends like you're entirely at fault. Superfluous in his teaching style and a drag if you really want to learn this subject. Tries too hard to act cool.
he is very very hard professor and mean. he doesnt listen to anyone. too much homework and exams which are very hard and long. he doesnt give enough time to finish the exam. he thinks the way he teachs is best but its not true. he souldnt be teaching....
he good and he makes the class interesting, but he's strict with is markings.one will pass if u do his assignment, and what he gives for assignment is what will come out in his test.and also he doesn't tolerate lateness.lateness 3times will cause automatic redrawal.but he's good
A good professor, he knows a lot. If you want to transfer to another college, take him. If you don't, take others who can give you an A without working.
he is stupid professor ever. he thinks he is every thing but he is not. make exams very hard and dont give enough time. dont ever ever take him
if u want to pass math, pls do not take him,or else u will fail his class with a bif fat "F" has ur grade
he is very good professor even he is taff. He makes you work very hard;however, you will learn a lot. Take this professor and don't read other comments because those people don't want to study. With this professor you have to read book and do homework and other assignments. Good luck!
he's very good professor. He explains the subject very well and he makes hard stuff easy to understand in simple way.he is patient and helpful. He has good relationship with students and he will help you if you will tell him about your problem.he makes his class funny and interesting. I recommened him for everyone!
He is a jerk. Does not grade fairly and doesn't take others aspects into consideration.(like effort, attendance, handing in HW on time.) Would not recommended him. Steer clear if you want to pass the class!

This is not an easy course for everyone. I strongly suggest that homeworks and studies are extremely necessary in order to achieve a good grade. He is kind enough to devote his own time to set up study groups if requested. He is one of the professors who will definitely prepare you for your upcoming course level. I would suggest him.
Hey guys this is not high school math, this is college and it is precalc. If you expected easy than it is on you. The fact is he answers every question you ask of him. He is always in the math lab ready to assist his students and there are tutors there as well that can help. If you do your assignments and keep up with the work you will do fine.
can be abrasive with his words. for some reason i read the below comment and thought he wrote it.
This man is awful! He is not at all helpful. He SCREAMS everything he says and If you give the wrong answer he makes you feel stupid. He refuses to repeat something he taught in a previous class. By far the worst professor I have had at BMCC. Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all cost.

He gives quiz every class based exactly on the assignment. This is the best and easiest professor he every had.
I don't like him at all. Not the nicest person. I dread going to class.
This professor should not be teaching. While he may know the subject very well for his own purposes, he does not have it in him to teach. He cares more about his ego than the students and very condessending. not sure of the pronounciation.

Excellent Professor. Only an idiot can fail this class, thus the bad comments. Instead of complaining like little girls, folks should study and prepare for class, including the assignments and quizes. This professor does an excellent job teaching this course.
If you want to get ahead in life and attend a 4 yr college, then take this class. Life is tough and so is school. Nothing good comes easy and this professor is excellent. He is helpful and he cares about your success. Yes, you will have to work hard and study but you will succeed if you attend class and listen to this professor. He's Excellent!
This guy have a lot of attitude for no reason. He treats his students like kids. I can not stand him and he do not know how to teach. Take at your own risk.
If you pay attention,do your homework and come to class you will pass because the professor is very good at explaining the subject. he looks very strict but once you get the hang of it he is very nice and funny but beware he does want the work done no messing around with him. overall I highly recommend this professor if you are interested in learni
RUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
This guys is goooooddd
he is good at teaching but he is rude and inappropriate. if you take his class you will learn the material but you'll also get picked on to the point where it is discouraging.
I never experienced a Professor in the field of Mathamatic so wonderful, kind, patient, and thorough such as this Professor. He really knows what he is teaching. Do not listen to any negative comments. He really knows how to teach. He is the best Math teacher at BMCC. He can help you in whatever level of Math you are in.
excellent at explaining things. you can 100% learn from his teaching. can be rough around the edges sometimes, but once you get to know him a little, he is cool. if you are interested in passing the course and actually learning, and do all your work (for your own benefit mind you) then his class is easy and he comes off easy. Def recommend.
Very hard Professor. Has favorites in class. Not Professional at all. Exposes your weaknesses to the whole class. Very Very Rude.
if you want to understand math and pass the class then he is the one. a bit tuff because he wants us to learn n pass, he is a sweet heart, awsome teacher. i hated math but now i think i like it, looking forward to take my next level. i wish i find someone just like him. highly recomended!!!!
When I first met Professor Jagai it was like meeting a Math Angel. His teaching skill are wonderful. Yes, he is very tough and strick but he truly wants his students to learn. If you want to pass knowing Math very well he is the Professor for you. He does make the class fun and very interesting!!!!!
he is a great math teacher. he teaches the material very well and clear. he is strict but he really wants everyone to understand math. i enjoyed his class i will defintely take him for another one of my math classes. if you want to get out of remedial then take him!!!
if u want to pass and understand maths take him...
Attendance is MANDATORY. Scope of work is extensive especially homework.Evaluation is based on 3 Exams, a couple of Online Quizzes, homework, and the Final. Make sure you are on top of your work.Your Grade depends on the effort you put into the class.Overall, take this class if you are serious about learning and want to be well prepared for Calculus
i'm surprised to see all the negative comments about him. yes he's super strict but that's only because he wants everyone to pass. i finally got out of remedial thanks to him. his work is extremely clear , do all the assignments and you'll pass!!
Ok, so...yeah, this professor will be MISinterpreted as rude, but he is SUPREMELY good at teaching math. I hated math before him...HATED IT! But in this class I received the highest math score I've EVER had! Tips: 1. NEVER be late! 2. ALWAYS BRING YOUR TEXTBOOK. 3. Do all online work immediately. 4. Do not be afraid to ASK QUESTIONS! He cares!
The worst math class I ever took. This professor at first seemed cool, but his exams were nothing like we practiced in class. He would change his mind last minute, for example, promise take home exam, and then say no, or even worse- say get ready for next class there might be an exam, but we will see. He is playing with his students. Very annoying!
professor mark jagai is really far beayond an excellent professor i have ever in my life!i'm so obsessed with his lecture.he explean the math clear than the christal clear. i wish he will be my future math professor. i love math so is the greast professor Mark Jagai!
i see sombody wrote negative about my great professor, hey u take it back.i'm in the same class as well.how could you write such a think like that? be well.my professor Mark Jagai is the only n one grast professor. i love math and i love this professor, for his dadication in the class i've learned the math. i thanks lot to my great professor!
professor Mark Jagai is very wonderful professor.he has such a nice parsonality. he makes math very interesting & easy. his math class is never been boring. he really loves his every students equally.
super duper excelent professor!!!
professor Mark Jagai is so special & unique. he is really a genious! his presentetion is so good! i've learned the math therefore i'm so happy. the thing is never absent, late in his class. of course do the home work. that's it u pass.
Professor Jagai will make you understand Math if you are not fond of Math at all, as I was. He is strict, but only because he wants you to pass!! If he sees you are working hard he will work with you. Recommended if you are a serious student.
i loved him !!!! even though i had a horrible and immature class , he do his best to make it work ... i wish so badly he will teach all classes..best math teacher ever in my life
did not like his way of teaching. Instead of in class exams we had exams online every week and only a few homeworks. does not give many examples to learn the material.
Not a good experience. He relies too heavily on webassign and is inconsistent. He says one thing, then does another. and the weekly quizzes on web assign often contain questions that weren't covered in class. Stickler for tardiness and treats his students like they are in middle school. Didn't prepare us for Calculus 301.
NOPE! This guy is horrible. I love Math, I should have really enjoyed this class, but instead I was worrying about being 1 minute late. He is not clear or consistent. He can be downright rude to students. The single worst professor I have ever had. responds with a question to every question or simply says "well, you did it wrong" (got an A btw)
This professor is good, he does not put up with childish students. If you dont do his work you will fail. He takes attenadnce very serously. YOU WILL LEARN FROM HIS CLASS.
So this is a Prof that knows the material but doesn't make the class easy, this is the Prof who doesn't allow you to share your own supplies with others, who will charge people for graph paper. This is a prof that will drop you out of his class if you're doing poorly. This is a Prof who's in charge of the math department.
I highly reccomend NOT taking this professor, he does not connect with students well.
Takes class meeting time very serious for a remedial class. Does not play
Rude and Mean. Very disrespectful to students. It is difficult to learn in his class because of his negative attitude.
Stick, very strick, but really good
First day I wanted to run out of the class. Yes, he is strict and does not tolerate nonchalant attitude but the caliber of students he has to deal with forces him to be on top of his game and the students. Honestly, if he was easy going I think students would not apply themselves and fail. Not the best class but if you want to pass and move well..
He is a good professor .
Just started this semester with him. He is very helpful and always willing to explain the subject. I was afraid after reading the prior comments, but this professor is great.
Three weeks into the class, he is very clear and explain really well. He wants his student to learn.
Great Professor, always willing to explain the material to students. Give his students many chances to pass, he even give a practice Midterm exam.
One of the best prof. at BMCC, crystal clear, always helpful, explains the material thoroughly, gives multiple chances to get a good grade or pass the class, practice exams, reviews, extra credit. Very fair grader. Most importantly prepares you for calculus! I don't usually leave reviews but this one was long due! Take him if you need calculus.
This professor is great, I just took a two week class with him, and I learnt more that what I did in 15 weeks. He is the best, he knows to teach, thank you Prof. Jagai
This prof is awesome!!!! I have leaned soooo much in his in his class. He is funny and makes the class interesting. He might be a bit striket with certain things but you will see the benefit. I took 051 with another from and failed and once I took this prof through a 2 week program I pass. As long as you study your work you will pass. Take him
Professor Mark.J Is awesome. I have attended his 051math remedial class in the summer, and I have been able to learn a lot in just a short space of time (2 wks)!!! As well along with his help and my dedication to the work i passed. He is Strict, but he means good!!!
Awsome teacher. Highly recommended
He is alright , sometimes context is not well explained .
Honestly at first i found the class alright but as we got into other topics he became less clear about work. Also 10 points on your final grade base on a group project. its ridiculous i rather work on my own. Quizzes every other week and 2 mid terms and a final. All homework in ONLINE ! and sometimes it gives problems
Do yourself a favor do not take this professor for nursing math. He is too tough and has me on the verge of tears.
I really regret taking this class. Its not fun, just so confusing and tough.
He explains well, but probability is difficult.
He is the worst professor I have ever had in BMCC even I got B+ in the class. but I really don't appreciate the way he treated students. Avoid him.
He's very tough for math 104 but you should be fine if you study a lot. I would recommend taking an easier professor but he's not that bad. He copies the questions from he textbook in the exams, just makes them trickier. Good luck!
I had sucked at math my whole life before this class, though I did pretty well and passed with flying colors. This professor knows how to teach, all you have to do is pay attention, ask questions, and study a bit on your own. Hes strict, but he knows how to explain things, and will really help you if you do your part.
The worst Professor at BMCC. Im an A student with 3.6 GPA and very good at math. But this Pr is the worst out of all Pr's in campus. The way he explains is very very very complicated (i mean it). If you don't understand the section he'll never explain it. His homework and tests are soooo different from what he teaches in class. NEVER EVER TAKE HIM!
THE WORS IN BMCC. Never explains subject clearly, but will test you on it , like he explained it for the whole semester . DONT EVER TAKE HIM. PLUS, HE'S VERY VERY MEAN
I must admit in my last review I said this professor is horrible, but now that I took his exam I see why he is so tough. His intentions was for me to study. He is a good professor, but I think he should let students be late and allow them to use the cell phones. For this he is very MEAN
This professor can teach, he is great. Wants his students to learn and he is very concerned about all students. He is tough but great. By the way do not use your cell phone in his class, you will be asking for trouble.
He's very mean and you better not to ask questions. His explanations aren't clear and too fast so you really have to pay your 100% attention. Doesnt care much If you understand or not. Wouldn't suggest him to my friends!
Prepares you for College. He teaches well and does not play.
Good professor, yes he is tough but this college. Will prepare you for pre-cal. Smart and very knowledgable.
Excellent professor, exams are similar to HW and reviews.
Professor Jagai is one of the best - I took this course during Spring 2014 and failed miserably and I really really really did not understand algebra even after that class. After my first class with Mr. Jagai I knew this would be the best Math class of my life. I understood everything he taught and he is clear and tough.I appreciate his toughness
The bomb, he is the best. A god sent to help students like me who never got math before. Thank you Jesus. I love professor Jagai
I had professor Jagai for a remedial course and pre-calculus. I Absolutely loved his lectures. He explains everything and is willing to answer any questions. He prepares you for higher level math courses, but in order to do that you have to attend the lectures, do the homework, and study!
This professor really cares about students. At first I thought he was too hard, but he wants his students to learn so they can be better in college. If you want to learn Math take him, he will prepare you for your education.
I took this class before and this professor made me like Math again. I love him, he is the best.
Worst professor I've ever had. DO NOT TAKE HIM AND JUST RUN!!!!!
This is a great professor, he will make you learn, if you are lazy and come to class late don't take him. Text during class and you will fail. He is serious but one of the best professors.
He does not give alot of quiz.. Which is 25% of the grade
The worst professor ever. DO NOT TAKE. Lectures are sometimes unclear. Lots of homework and he like never collects them. He gives you crazy exams, some material he says to study for exam never actually ends up being on the exam. OH, do not use your phone, you will be PENALIZED.
Very strict about cell phones and lateness. Takes attendance, you are only allowed to miss one hour more than however many hours the class is per week. He used a free online textbook for hw this semester. Not a lot of quizzes/tests however, you have to stay on top of the work he's going over.
At the beginning of the semester I thought I made a mistake to register for this professor, but I was wrong. He is tough with his policies, but he does this to prepare us. He knows his material, he is very clear, he even has his videos to assist you. Don't play around, use your cell phones or even try to cheat, he will fail you. He is excellent
Very inconsistent - will give you a review for tests with material you never learned! Then he says that it won't be on the test but that you should "know it anyway". Only 3 pop quizzes, each one had one or two questions each. Only gives you 5-10 minutes to complete. Lessons don't relate to homework most times.
DO NOT TAKE FOR ANY MATH COURSE. DROP IT NOW..... YOUR FOR YOUR LIFE! YOU Will mess up your GPA and not graduate.
I highly recommend NOT taking this professor, he does not connect with students well. DROP COURSE ASAP OR NEVER ENROLL
DO NOT TAKE FOR MATH.... RUN FOR YOUR LIFE..
This class felt like high school. He will lower your overall grade by one letter if he sees your cell phone. He has favorites and is rude to everyone else. Gets mad when you don't know the answer, tells us that we are lazy. Stay away!
Just finish a Summer program with this professor, and he is great. Yes, you cannot use your cell phones in class, but you can leave the room and use it. He is very good at explaining math, he makes it simple. He gives lots of HW and will speak to you if you do not do it. HE IS THE BEST I HAVE TAKEN.
You wont have time for netflix and chill. You will need to find x and y. The last student's comment was promised an A for a good review. If you can't see the retake percentage very low. Then maybe you do need a mathcourse. Only 1 out of 3 students pass this professors class. The rest have to do favors for the professor. Van you count? Use fingers
This is a great professor if you would like to learn. If you are looking for an easy grade DON'T take him. He does not play, no phones in class. I learned a lot from him as compared to other professors.
He is the best, took MAT 51 three times and failed. Took Prof. Jagai during the summer and passed. He is the best professor.
Thank you Prof. Jagai, you are the best. Cares about students and teach them how to behave in college. No cell phones in class, you can use it outside of the class. He insist you must be in class to learn, and this is true for MATH which I hated until I took him. Thank you.
One of the best professors I ever had. Took statistics before, and failed, but Prof. Jagai made it easy to understand. He really want students to learn. Give extra credit, and exams are almost the same as the HW. Solid choice for anyone
Just finished Summer classes and never thought I can get 100 in Math. He is very good at teaching. Very serious about using phone in class and attendance. If you would like to pass your math take him, but be prepare to work.
Prof. Jagai is an excellent professor. He is serious about students using their phones in class, but you can use it outside. He takes attendance seriously, so if you can deal with this then you will be fine. He does a great job at teaching and he is very clear .
Strict, but not overwhelming so. He is serious about being late. I honestly would have chosen another professor if I had the option. You will have very little free time. He grades very harshly
This is a professor that really cares about us learning. Take him, he is great.
Prof Jagai wasn't very pleasant at first but once I got to know him he really grew on me. He's an excellent professor and truly wants you to pass. I hated math going into this course but he made me good at it and enjoy it! I got 100 on the final. Do the homework and show up.
I always said that I was terrible at Math until I had the chance to take a class with Prof. Jagai. He trully wants you to understand the operations and pass your CUNY exam. If he has to explains something over and over he will do it. We had quizzes almost every day but that's actually how you learn, practicing. I passed my CUNY exam with 100 score
He makes math much easier to understand. His explanations are very clear. Reallyh recomended. I will definitely take precalculus with him.
The most difficult questions he doesn't allow you to use calculators. He seems cool in the beginning but then he mentioned when you ask him politely to change some of his ways to better the students he gladly says no and says he has Tenure so nothing we do can do a thing to him. Do not take!
I just finished winter classes and this professor is great. He explains the material and want his students to learn. NO CELL phones, NO Calculators. He does use the calculator for log and trig, but not on the exams, he said it is the department policy. If you do the HW and quiz, you will pass. He is a great professor. I am taking him for Mat206
Seriously !! Do Not Take his class because you will regret it! He is the rudest professor at BMCC. Choose a different professor. Please! Don't waste your time trying to take the class with him.
He is great, he tries to make sure all the students understand the material. I find it very strange, not all math professor will do this. Take him, he is very good. Even give good ideas of what would be on the exam.
he is one of the best prof. in the math department. his lectures are the best and he knows what he is doing. passionate and dedicating. i recommend this prof for any math courses. just a heads up, he doesn't like the students using cell phone during class. cell phones has to be out of sight :P
The lectures are good but his attitude ruins everything. He gets non sense picky about some little things, his rigidity regarding cellphone use and lateness is beyond stupidity. Avoid that professor, that's a sincere advice.
An amazing professor, he is one of the few professors that will make sure you understand the material. He does have a strict cellphone policy, so BEWARE! He is always willing to stay after class to help and always tries to find a way to relate the material to another subject or real life.
I personally think he does a good job a explain. However, he's extremely picky when it comes to grading tests and quizzes. He once marked my whole answer wrong just because I missed a line (seriously) He truly takes any chances available to takes points off, even if it's obvious you know the topic. He makes it hard for students to pass.
Prof. Jagai is a nice professor. His teaching is good, he explains everything clearly and answers the questions even after class. He is a little picky but he has a heart of gold. He will help you pass the class if you show some effort.
WORST professor ever. He did not explain the material well at all. I left this class knowing nothing! I retook the class in the summer and got an A+, so I know it wasn't me. He was extremely condescending.
teaching style is not the best, would always lecture then expect you to go home and do the hw then come in the next day ready to learn new material without any review. You basically teach yourself, only had extra credit once and is harsh with being late and with phones. He expects participation and said he could sit while we teach ourselves
He is a good professor. I think people dont like him because hes his rules are strict but he wants with all his heart for his students to pass. He knows we can do it and wants us to study and practice. This is a difficult course in general so if you arent good at math he can be harsh on the grades. He is funny though and truly does care.
He is like that tough father that is very hard on you but in the end, he does it because it is the best for you. I often complained about how hard he was on us, but after the semester was done I realized that I was way more advanced than students who took another professor. Take him if you want to learn math, but you have to work for it.
It's quite hard to describe this professor. I had anxiety throughout his class. He is a bit tough with the classroom environment, for instance, don't even dare to use your phone in class for a second because if he catches you then be ready to get insulted! Don't take his online or hybrid courses because you will have to do everything on your own.
I took MAT 206 online with this professor, and I must say he was very organized, as compared to other online professor I have taken. He does give most of the class notes for you to read, he even gives video lessons for you to watch, and he drops one of the exam grade. If you are willing to work he is excellent.
Teaches really well and makes calc almost easy. He is a rough grades though and will take credit off for the stupidest things. He did go easier on the grading and offer extra credit at the end of the semester though.
Honestly, I wasted a whole winter course just to fail. And this was my last class too. There just some professor that shouldn't be professor. And he is one of them. No matter how much you pass the homeworks or labs, the test are the only thing that he is really going to grade you on. I wish I would have listen to the other people warnings.
He is very picky with his test he took 35 points of one question just because i put the wrong math symbol. He is very mean and rude, and will decrease your grade by 1 letter each time for messing up or making mistakes
I took him during the winter and he was great. He does want the student to learn, he drops the lowest grade, and give choices of questions for you to answer on his exam. He also, give a very good hint of what to expect on his exam. You will fail if you are not doing your work, attending class is not enough. By the way, don't use your phone.
Took MAT 206 fully online and he was great. His notes and video lectures are very helpful. Gives very good feedback and keeps you aware of your progress throughout the semester. I have take four online class and he is the best of the four. Thank you
Math is not my subject, but with professor Jagai you can get to like the subject if you do his work. He tries his best to make it easy for you. His lectures are great and he give lots of extra credit.
This was a hybrid class and he does the difficult topics in class. For repeat of the lower level material he gives notes and videos so you can refresh yourself, but he does go over the topic if a few people are struggling. He is a great professor, just do his work and you are a sure winner.
I took MAT 206 fully online with him, and his notes and feedback was great. Thanks professor.
Professor's lectures are incoherent and instead of explaining any questions you may have, he speaks in a condescending manner; disrespectful to students.
Prof Jagai is ok, but really not the best teacher. He doesn't explain math clearly. The tests are pretty hard, no multiple choice, and the questions that are said to be on the quiz are sometimes switched up. You'll have to know how to solve the problem for a variety of different things. On the plus side, he's accessible outside of class.
I was afraid when I saw the rating for this professor but at the time it was the only class that fits my work schedule. He is serious when it comes to learning, he does not allow the use of cell phones in class. He does gives online HW that will replace your lowest grade and he is very clear as he explains the material. Overall he is great
This is an online class and his lectures are great. They have videos attached to each lecture so its like talking that class with him. Best of all the exams are on Webassign and they are almost like the HW. He does drop a few of his assignments.
I took math 206 online with him for the spring semester and I loved it . The class is easy if you pay attention to his notes. Take him you wont regret it
Prof. Jagai took over my class after covid-19 from Prof. Reese and it was an amazing difference. Immediately the class started to learn, his lectures was clear and his exams online was exactly like his practice exam. He does help his students and he really cares. If you don't understand a problem, he sends a video to explain it. This was nice.
I was having trouble with Math206 during the COVID crisis and he was very helpful even when I failed the final. Homework was online (even before the pandemic). he just didnt post grades until the end of semester which i didnt like. But I would definitely take him again, overall great math professor.
I took Prof. Jagai for MAT 206 and his lectures are great, he has lots of videos to help you to understand the class notes that is given. He even will meet with you online to help you understand any problem. He is there to help anytime you need it, all I had to do was ask for his help. He is the best I have taken for Math at BMCC. Great prof.
Great professor overall. He was demanding but in the interest of a student. Will help you prepare and learn. Good listener, not judging.
I took this class online and it was definitely much harder than in person. You have to keep up with a lot of homework and online lectures. If you dont seek help from a tutor its definitely going to be hard
I took Prof. Jagai during the summer and it was very different form my other professor during the spring semester. He is MUCH more organized and his lesson are crystal clear. He is also available to help you via zoom if you need help or as a group. He is very helpful, he help us on Sundays which I thought was amazing. He is the best!
He's a really nice dude and very helpful. He truly wants to see his students do well. I definitely recommend taking him for online classes.
I just finished taking Calculus with him, and I must say i did enjoy Calculus. I generally do not enjoy Math, but he was really good. He does want his student to learn and he will call on you to get involved. His lesson are great, and they are online immediately after the class.
I was initially reluctant to enroll in his MAT206 course considering the reviews, but I dont regret it. Plain and simple, hes a good professor in the sense that he knows how to teach and will help you out. HOWEVER, you must do your part. I suggest purchasing the textbook and doing harder problems; go to office hours (no one went, take advantage!)
The worst professor I ever had. For online class. When you have a problem and emailed him he can not helped you with anything. Even it is not an attended class you still have to do exams in certain times and finish it in the time limit he has. If you had any problems with your bb during an exam and emailed him he still give you ZERO!!
He is strick, but you will learn form him. His class video are great. I did learn a lot from him.
He is really strict in the beginning but he become more relax as we get into the semester. Be ready to do the work though, he require proof of work for exams.
Classmates that didn't pay attention or full on slept in class always had an excuse or complaint about him. He's a good teacher and fair, does not give special treatment or coddle students which some people at BMCC are too used to and they end up surprised when he judges you only by your work.
Professor Jagai is a very enjoyable professor, he likes making jokes (some are math related) and his lectures are super fun and very easy to follow. Whether you love and hate math, you'll love taking his class! He's very responsive outside of class and grades quickly and fairly
Prof. Jagai is a great outgoing prof, he is very open to helping his students out when they don't understand a problem, always have your formula sheet and calculator when you go to class.
He is such an amazing professor, I only had him for 3 weeks since it was a winter course but he is very dedicated to his work and helps the students understand the material. As long as your show up and do the work you'll pass. he is amazing guys, TAKE HIM!!!
Sarcastic, do not feel bad if he makes any weird comment, he is just joking. makes sure everyone understand the material, he doesn't play about being on time to his class, he will give you the grade you deserve, very caring and funny in class, if you taking a morning class with him, he is not going to make you fall asleep. homework every week.
Explain the course content well. He does care about you and will assist you during his offer hours or before class starts. Be on time to class
Took Professor Jagai for precalculus and calculus. He's very thorough and will repeat things as many times as you need to understand. His exams and homework assignments are fair and he will always make you laugh in class. His office hours are flexible and he answers emails quickly which is extremely helpful
I took MAT 206.5 and he taught Intermediate Algebra first which prepared me for the PreCalculus part of the course. He is great at explaining the material and he even posted the class notes for the class, in addition he has amazing videos for most of the topics covered. Thank you prof. Jagai
Not patient and very judgmental Would not recommend
He explains difficult stuff using pre-calc examples which is really clear if you know it. Also, he wants to help you get a good grade by reviewing possible problems before exam/quiz and if you will ask he even can give extra credit problem. Finally, I can say that I'd love to take him for MAT302, but he doesn't teach it :(
He is very strict, temperamental, hostile and judgmental and makes you feel bad for asking questions. He seems to only want to do as little as possible for you and does not seem to care or want your success. If you care about your grade, actually learning the material + the time & money spent, I highly recommend you take a different professor.
Professor Jagai cares about students success as long they care about the material. Professor Jagai has a clear and concise way of teaching that makes understanding the material clear and uncomplicated. Don't be afraid to ask question he will try his best in helping you understand the concept as long as you're willing learn.
I have always struggled in math in high school and was afraid to fail his class. But he's awesome, cares about the student's success. Opportunity for extra credit and won't mind you asking questions. He also makes funny jokes lol. Would recommend him and take him again if I have another math course. :)
Best math professor at BMCC. Cares about his students. Has no problem explaining concepts again and again until all students understand. Exams are not easy. However, you will be prepared as long as you attend class and do the homework.
Professor Jagai really cares about his students, he give them extra tries at the HW during the break. He also comes to class early to help anyone who needs help with their work. he is amazing in explaining, I never did well in math but he made me understand math.
When I first joined the class, I was quite overwhelmed because I couldn't keep up with the pace of the class. However, fortunately, I self-studied and was able to catch up. Overall, I could understand most of what the professor taught, and the tests were fairly manageable.
Makes weird jokes, but if you like sarcasm, he's your guy. Very strict, but if you approach him, he's willing to help. Rarely responds to emails, and the material is difficult to understand, especially during long lectures. Choose your math professor wisely.
Gives Homework every week and must be done within a week, great lectures. Do not expect to leave class early. He is great at explaining.
Professor Jagai was great. His teaching style isn't for every
professor jagai is great. he's intimidating but he makes sure you pass the class if you show up and do the hw. makes jokes, cold calls, explains the problems well. beware - do not take this class if you have social anxiety. if you want to be good at math, he'll push you. if you want an easy A, dont take him
He gives amazing lecturer and wants his students to learn. I was afraid of math, but he actually made it easy for me. He is really good.
He is a great Prof. The best part about him is he cares if the students understand the topic well or not. If anyone has any issue understanding any topic, he explains it to them until they get it.
I really loved this professor, he should consider stand-up comedy (unironically, he's just funny) and he really helped make the summer class more accessible. His grading can be sometimes 'nitpicky' but it's for good reason as he wants to build strong foundations in math for every student. Hope to take him again for Calc II.
Professor Jagai is such a great educator!!! After 13 years away of class, coming back to College Algebra was terrifying, but I learned a lot during his class. He wants you to participate, don't miss class, do all the homework and pay attention. Most of the exam questions are already given during practice/HW. Overall, great experience.
DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER! Absolutely terrible through and through. There are no materials, you have to pay to do your homework that doesn't do anything for your grade. He sees you failing and doesn't say anything, doesn't advise dropping the class, just silently sees you fail. Majority of my class was struggling. Lowkey a bully too.
Pls do not take his class unless you want to do homework twice every week. He has a test or quiz or exam like every week. He likes making really uncomfortable jokes and likes to call out people for no reason.
Just follow the formula he teaches and you will pass! He offers tutoring certain days to help and he doesn't have an issue going over things a few time to ensure you understand. He has a great personality and humor. I appreciate all the help and patiences he gave me!!!
He's a great teacher who explains math clearly, but your grade relies on only three tests. There's no extra credit, so if you care about high grades, you must study hard and ace them. One bad test can heavily drop your average since there's nothing else to balance it out. Will i take him again? no. Did i learn? Hell yeah but with lots of stress.
He is the worse professor hands down I would not recommend
Professor Jagai really cares about his students, if you behave like you are in high school you will not pass. His notes are great and he does give homework once or twice a week, but the quiz and exam are just like the homework. His MAT 150 class was very easy, every exam he told us what will be on it. He is great.
Professor Jagai teaching methods are very straight forward. Homework's are basically practice questions for the exams. I recommend taking this class in person, coming to class everyday, doing your homework, and study the material. Practice makes perfect. Decided to take him again for MAT 206.
Professor Jagai MAT 206 course started off great, went over the key essentials for college algebra, however towards the end it got a bit difficult because the lectures were a bit rushed. Exams weren't bad, but I recommend studying for the final. As there were some unexpected questions. He does provide practice questions.
