Janis is a very intelligent professor, he is well suited to teach classes based on communication skills. I learned a lot in a class and a subject that I initially hated and feared so he deserves credit for that. Anyone who didn't enjoy the class and how it was taught simply didn't live up to real academic standards. An excellent teacher and guide.

Before I attended Professor Janis's class, I used to stutter and my hands would shake whenever I speak in public. He instilled confidence in me and taught the whole class the skills you need in public speaking. The four weeks I spent in the summer 2012 speech class were very helpful in building my career in any future social settings.

Mark Janis is a great teacher! One thing I liked is that he starts off every class with good news/bad news! This allows students to open up to class he always gives great advice especially because his advice always pertains to the lessons that we have learned! I am scared of public speaking but when I started this class all of that went away. He made the class look so simple. I like how he tells us specifically what the test will be on. A lot of people are saying easy A; I disagree. He gives work, makes you do it. It's just that simple. What I did appreciate most was how he takes students who can hardly speak in an audible tone become seasoned speech givers in one semester. He is top notch! Very down to earth and an excellent no bull introduction to college life.

I'm only 3 weeks in and I love him. I have him for Interpersonal Communications and just in 3 weeks I started learning more about myself than I ever knew. Mark Janis is probably one of the best professors at BMCC. He knows what he is teaching and he does it well. The Midterm was somewhat challenging, but the final was easier. The term papers were also pretty easy. Please do take him, you won't regret it. He always loves to hear what is happening in student's lives (any good/bad news?) A true gem. 5

This wonderful professor taught us life lessons in this class. He made presenting so much easier and helped me gain more confidence. In 2013 he told me and another girl that we could help each other out. Now its 5 years later and in that time period we fell in love and spending the rest of our lives together. We still do what Mark Janks told us.

First year of college and I started off with an amazing professor. Speaking in public is something I have always dreaded and I still do but he is really an awesome professor that made it a tad bit enjoyable for me. If you are very nervous and scared of speech class I suggest you take this class. He will make it a great class for you!

I highly recommend professor janis for anyone, but most especially for those who are not so opened about public speaking like myself. He is someone who will truly change you into giving you the confidence you need to go up there and do your speech without feeling nervous/insecure. Aside from that, the way he teaches is very straight forward.

This has been on of the best classes I have ever taken. If you want they A, you have to study. However, when he explains the material its glued inside your head that is how great he is. There are 2 quizzes, two case studies, midterm, and a final. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!

Literally the BEST professor I've ever taken, he knows his stuff and is very open and makes the class feel like a discussion not just a lecture that you have to show up to. The test are simple he literally tells you each question and then it's up to you to study the material. But in all honesty it's super easy and a fun class.

He is very sweet, caring and sometimes funny. Better comedian than professor in my opinion. His tests are super easy and you won't have a problem having an A, I just think he spent a little too much talking about himself rather than going deeper into material. Gave nice definitions, but didn't challenge us too much.

Mark Janis is by far my favorite professor. He is very relatable and funny. The class is easy if you show up and actually study for the quizzes, midterm and exam. He is an easy grader but don't take advantage of that, he's only easy if you actually do the work. LOTS OF NOTE TAKING THAT WILL HELP IN ALL ASSIGNMENTS/QUIZZES/MIDTERM/EXAM.

Really lives up to the title of being the best professor at BMCC! Hes a genuinely sweet human being and he cares so much about his students. You will remember information from his classes that will help you in the real world. Textbook is not necessary and he drops your lowest grade if needed. We need more professors like him

The thing that I really like about him is that you feel comfortable participating in class and just generally talking to him/asking questions. He is respectful, cool and actually listens to the students. His lectures are hilarious (and most importantly, the humor is on topic and helps with the learning proccess). The tests are easy.

If you want to take a Speech class I recommend you choose this professor hes caring, hilarious, and well respected. In his class gives you 3 speeches, one midterm, and one final which are not hard. If you try and work hard enough you will then get a passing grade in his class

Prof. Janis's class was an easy A . Class consists of 4 presentations (introductory, demonstrative, informative, persuasive) & an outline each. Regardless of how much effort you put, you will leave with an A guaranteed (as long as you do these few simple assignments ofc). Easy grading. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, no quizzes or exams. Even though it was asynchronous, Prof. Janis made it awesome! He makes really cool videos for you to watch on your time and the assignments consist of weekly modules where you relate the topics he discussed to real world scenarios. He had four speeches, an intro, demo, informational, and demo speech which make up your grade. At the end of each speech, he gives you feedback. If you show up and listen to his feedback, this class is an easy A.
