just have to do the work...but sets u up so well, prepares u the most if u're looking to take more accounting classes
Extremely difficult.
His class is very straightforward and he presents very well--all powerpoint. The material is what seems to snag most people, not the professor. It is very easy to make mistakes on his tests; you'll have quizzes everyother week but he drops your lowest
Very good teacher. Explains things well and tests are very straight forward but hard. Be prepared to study some, but you'll learn the most by just going to his lectures.
Okay professor. Pretty nice. All powerpoint. Have fun.
Material is difficult but you learn a lot. Tests are straight-forward, tells you exactly what will be on it. Lots of quizzes and hw for more points. All powerpoint and gives you class notes to purchase, prepares you well!!
hard class, but prepares you well, and gives lots of help and explanation.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He was very helpful and really wanted his students to do well. I learned alot from him and would recomend him to anyone. I liked him so much i even took him again.
Great Teacher!! A bit difficult, but very straightforward. He will come in every Sunday before the test to have a class review session. He loves to help, so go to his office hours if needed. I got an A with a bit of studying! Take his class!!
A lot of time and effort put into this class(homework, quizzes, tests, project). TAKE ANYONE OTHER THAN HIM. So hard!
What a dissapointment, he is a good person but the material is so difficult, you have to learn all on your own...I suggest taking it at the JC or somewhere else, he cannot teach worth anything, you learn all on your own. Save your time and money.
He is a great guy. He's a funny guy, but his way of teaching is just from slides so its easy to not pay attention. You basically have to teach yourself.
Difficult material but he explains it well. Class isn't easy but you can do well if you study. Not horibble to sit through. 3 tests + final, 7 quizes (drops 2), hw every week, and a large stock project that's not bad. I would recomend Professor Judd.
Great teacher. One of my favorite teachers I have ever taken. Material can be difficult but with a little effort an A is very possible. Homework is easy. Test can be difficult but with a little studying you will be just fine. Good class to take!!!
Great teacher. Very enthusiastic, energetic, and fun. Always willing to help; even goes out of his way to provide an extra study session right before tests. Final project is easy (just do it and turn it in on time, you'll get an A). Final is Cumulative.
Professor Judd ROCKS!! His class is really well taught, and he goes over every test, question by question, before we take it. I have an A+ in the class. He is really helpful, he ALWAYS has a Sunday review session before each test just in case you need extra help. I would totally recommend him!!
Very glad I took him again - you have to take Judd if you can. Hard, but very organized and good sense of humor.
Best professor I've had at USD. Very straight forward. Cool guy. Wants you to learn the material and he know his stuff. Take his class if you get the chance
Awesome teacher, gives extra credit and really wants to his students to do well. A good amount of work, but he helps so much so that it doesnt seem like it is a lot
go to office hours! soo helpful and just a great guy overall. make sure you do the online homeworks, they are easy points and help A LOT. lectures are powerpoints but he really involves you and will know your name by the first or second week! amazing teacher!
Professor Judd is the nicest man ever. He is by far my favorite teacher at USD. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to do well! Aside from being a great teacher, he is one that you can really talk to. He is very funny and makes class interesting. If you can fit him in your schedule, certainly do it! He is fantastic!
Awesome teacher, he is also a really nice man. He cares about his students are really wants you to do well in his class. I learned alot in his class. Hard class though so make sure you attend and listen.
powerpoint every single day, and a lot of work. definitely my hardest class last semester. he will help you if you need it though. if you do all the work and study you can get a good grade. if possible, though, i would not take him again. i did learn the material though. but i taught myself everything because i cant pay attention to powerpoint
Professor Judd is a good teacher, but the material is a bit boring and he relies heavily on PPT. I struggled with accounting, so Professor Judd referred me to an awesome tutor named Addam. If you need help, I suggest contacting him.
I love JUDD! he is great, hilarious, and a genuinely a great teacher! Take him for acct you will learn alot
Nice teacher who wants his students to learn. He covers the material a little fast, but reading the book makes it easy to understand. Great class and well rounded teacher- take him
He is the reason I became an accounting major. Warning!! accounting gets wayyy harder do not let him fool you. ha but he is a great guy and is very passionate about his students and the subject.
Very straight forward, not very entertaining
Professor Judd is the man. Great teacher, interesting class, very straightforward and fair grading. Definitely my favorite class this semester and at USD as a whole, I actually looked forward to going to it. However, the accounting material itself can be rather difficult, so be prepared to work hard.
Professor Judd is a genuinely nice guy who wants you to GET IT..the class is definately manageable if you stay on top of it..he offers extra credit..do it, even if you have to skip another class..points are everything, but he is more than willing to help you out, so take advantage of him! Overall put effort, get away with a B or so.
He's a great teacher. His tests are hard and he admits it, but after taking his class you WILL get financial accounting, he is very helpful.
Professor Judd is a great teacher, his lectures and expectations are crystal clear. He also cares a great deal about his students and how they do in his class. However, the material in Acct 202 was much more difficult than in Acct 201, which I also took with Judd. Pay attention to the lectures, do the homework, and study and you can do well.
Judd is a great teacher. He is fair and understanding but expects you to do your work. He owns his own business so he relates everything to the real world so it is easier to understand. Seriously, take him. He is phenomenal
Judd is awesome. He will come to Olin on a Sunday to help students review for a midterm. Before each midterm he tells you EXACTLY what is on it and gives you practice problems to study from. He is not easy, but there is no easy accounting teacher. I only got an A- on one test, B's on the others and got an A- in the class
I really enjoyed Accounting 202 with Judd. His class is extremely concrete and he tells you exactly what you need to know/do to succeed. He uses real-world examples very well. There is absolutely no ambiguity in this class. If you pay attention to what he tells you and go to class, you will be on your way to an A. I definitely recommend him.
Professor Judd is a really great guy and teacher. His test are kinda hard, but I did mediocre studying and I came out with a B. I think the only issue I had with him was that when you ask a question, he responds in a tone like "everyone knows that, why don't you'"
Judd is a great professor. He knows his stuff and teaches it really well. Although the tests can be hard, he prepares you to do well. While other professors expect you to teach yourself, Judd really wants you to understand the subject. I'd definitely recommend him for Accounting. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable!
Judd is a very good professor. He does a great job helping you to really understand Acct. There is a lot of homework and studying involved but if you do it, you'll get an A. There were 7 quizzes and 3 100 pt tests and a 100 pt final. Plus extra credit opportunities and a project worth 100 pts that helps boost your grade. Definitely take Judd.
Wow Accounting was probably the most difficult and uninteresting class I have ever taken. I can't believe they force marketing majors like me to take it. However, Judd is a very nice guy and tries to learn everyone's name by the end of the year and extremely helpful. however tests are still hard.
judd is a good teacher, but he isn't the nicest when it comes to people asking questions in class. if you try to ask about material that is on a quiz, he is completely useless and brags about how hard the quiz will be instead of helping. however, if you go to him in office hours, he is extremely helpful. you have to put in the effort.
Judd is the MAN. i took him for financial and managerial and i do not regret it at all. he drops your two lowest quiz scores and gives 3 tests and a final. if you study and do the work youll do fine. he gives his students many opportunities to do well in his class. he loves talking about beer and golf. he is also a fan of athletes
STAY AWAY from this person, he basically reads the materials from the slides and do nothing besides reading.. it is an accounting class WHICH MEANS you need to explain and put #s on the board. he gives you cases and wants you to work on it by yourself!! ok show us an example/explanation 1st!! taking it is a MISTAKE? find someone better!! Acct 202
Judd is a boss. Class is definitely not easy, but he is a cool guy who realizes you have other things going on in your life besides his class. He brings donuts each sunday before the tests (theres 3 + a final)and answers questions and gives you review problems. Tells you what to study. It isnt easy, but Judd is so approachable and good. Take him
Judd is a good professor - he is not always very clear about what he is explaining, and he teaches straight from the book, but go to office hours if you're confused and he'll help you out! I got an A, but I definitely had to work for it. He did make Accounting super interesting, though! Plus he always has such a great attitude so he makes class fun
Judd is a cool guy, but he cant or wont teach. Either way he conducts his class in a way that doesn't interest students and attempts to glorify the subject by his lack of explanation and use of complex words to seemingly confuse his students. Accordingly, he expects you to understand more than he teaches.
Professor Judd is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. He tells you exactly what is on the test. The class is hard but there is a lot of material covered. He likes to put tricky questions so make sure you know the definitional stuff well. He is always available for office hours and sets you up to succeed. Good luck!
Had Judd for managerial over intersession. The class was demanding but extremely fair. All test material was clearly laid out. Chill guy, interesting class. Class seems to be easier over intersession!
Judd is a great professor. Definitely make sure he knows who you are and he'll take a genuine interest in you. He wants everybody to do well. Tells you very clearly what exact material to study for the test. I thought he explained concepts well and the online homework wasn't too bad. Overall I'd definitely recommend him,
Judd is a solid professor to take. He is fairly straightforward with his expectations. I would recommend reading the book if you expect to do really well on his tests.
Judd is awesome, he prepares you really well for tests and quizzes. Constantly reminds you of deadlines coming up and genuinely wants you to succeed which I think is the key to the business school. As long as you read at least some of the text and go to class, you will do just fine.
Very clear with his expectations for the class. Tells you exactly what to know for the tests, which is nice. At times, he can make you feel stupid when you ask questions, but other than that he's a nice guy and a good professor. Would recommend.
I loved this class! I definitely thought accounting would be boring, but Judd made it really clear and easy to understand & now I might major in it. He wants his students to do well; he has pre-test weekend review sessions and tells you specifically what will be on the tests. Put in the work and you will get a lot out of his class!
Decent class and professor. He hypes up his tests to be a lot harder than they actually are, but if you study a little bit and do the homework the class is relatively easy. He teaches literally straight from the book, so get the book and his spiral to study from and its a good class
Not sure why people like him so much. I found him to be very degrading. He rushed through lecture and ended class early. Always told us how hard exams were and how we wouldn't finish. Online hw takes forever some weeks, his exams are unnecessarily long, and he was very negative and didn't encourage students. Wouldn't recommend.
You need your Wiley code. Judd is a great guy, but accounting isn't for everyone. Work load isn't bad at all. Just make sure you pay attention in class
Work load is a lot! homework multiple times a week, 10 quizzes, 3 midterms and multiple projects. If you "get" accounting you will do fine but otherwise prepare for a loooong semester
great professor. really helpful especially in office hours. down to earth cool dude. likes athletes!
Mark is one of the best professors I have ever taken. I have established a great connection with him from the get-go, so he is very willing to help me succeed. Do the reading, do orion, do the homework, go to office hours, and practice outside of class. He knows who gets it and who doesn't. He'll be there for you, you need to seek him though.
great professor overall. he makes you work for your grade, but he is very smart and is a cool guy. for every 1 assignment he has, he provides 2 or 3 ways to help complete it. and he tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat anything, which sometimes offends the little snowflake college kids which is funny.
I'm not gonna lie. So here how it goes: if you're REALLY into accounting, take his class. but if you're only taking it for your business component, you'd probably be better off with someone else. Wouldn't say he "teaches" Acct 201, he kind of rephrasing what written on the slides. He tells you what's gonna be on exams though, which weren't easy.
Good professor, but not easy to get A.
Prof. Judd is a really nice guy, and he really teaches the material clearly. I feel like I actually learned a lot about accounting, and he really cares about his students' success. That being said, he is definitely one of the harder accounting professors. I never read the textbook though, so I wouldn't say getting that is a must.
Judd's class is pretty hard. He just reads off the powerpoint slides and doesn't really explain the concepts. The tests are pretty hard if you don't get accounting and he tells the classes that they won't do that well on them. Lots of quizzes. Some extra credit offered. Probably one of the harder accounting teachers.
If you don't understand what you are reading in the book (which the majority of my class was lost), you are not going to do well. I went in for office hours and all he did to answer my questions was point at the book, not understanding that I needed a different explanation. Judd is not helpful and speaks down to students who are confused.
Tests are difficult, but he makes it as easy at it can be. Has his own book with all his pp slides in it, and this has all the info you need. He gives handouts and review sheets to help you prepare for exams. Judd is passionate about accounting and wants you to major in it. I found him fair and understanding, but you have to work for a good grade.
pretty boring teacher, and tends to read off his slides. there were quizzes and three exams. the first exam wasn't bad but tends to get more difficult with each one. theres also a group project which is time consuming but he grades easily.
Professor Judd is a nice guy and is willing to help students. The class was pretty difficult and lots of studying was required, but thats expected with an accounting class. 8 quizzes were given (lowest 2 dropped) and 3 tests with one final exam and group project. Lots of opportunities for extra credit which really helped out my final grade.
Judds an awesome dude. loves to golf and lose to teach accounting. class is pretty challenging with lots of homework, but what can you expect? has real life examples he will bring up to keep things interesting. provides study sessions before each test where he will basically tell you how to do the problem - you just have to remember on the test..
Judd is a cool guy and loves accounting. His class is pretty tough because you basically need to teach yourself due to the boring lectures. BUT, if you go into his class knowing you need to work for a good grade makes it not seem as bad. I would recommend for sure, just make sure you study and keep up on the homework.
he offers 7% of your grade as extra credit! group quizes weekly, a few test, but honestly not that hard and you do not hav to really go to class. a few projects but not too bad. but he will convince you or try to at least to be a accounting major
Judd is overall a super cool guy but he definitely has high expectations. Expects you to come to class and know your stuff. Lots of quizzes (group), and a couple tests that are pretty challenging. Gives reviews with details of what each question will encompass. Holds review sessions. Group project and a 2-3 min oral.
Professor Judd is a solid choice for accounting. He does his best to ensure that his students have the necessary material to do well on exams; however, his tests are tough and will require a lot of studying (there are three midterms and a final). Make sure to do the extra credit and get ahead of both the individual and group projects.
Weekly individual/group quizzes and 3 midterms + final. There are also several Excel group projects. He expects you to know everything before the lecture and often refuses to give extra help when needed. Can also be very condescending and will get agitated when the class doesn't understand something. He isn't the worst, but I would not take again
Judd's condescending professor. Will treat you like you're dumb for asking questions in class and will make you feel bad if you choose anything other than accounting for your major.
Weekly online homework, 3 midterms, a final, ad group/individual project. Has a little extra credit but definitely a challenging class. Nice guy and okay class as long as you put in a lot of time. There are much easier teachers if you want that but is a solid choice if you want to learn a lot and work hard.
Professor Judd is the best!! His classes are definitely challenging and theres a quiz every week, but because of that you know the material really really well for the final. Would definitely recommend, especially if youre an accounting major. Hes always happy to help and talk with you about your accounting/business career path.
Had Judd for financial and managerial. He is a good professor but teaches too fast. Expects us to have prior knowledge of acct. isn't very thorough and you have to study pretty hard for tests to get a good grade. weekly quizzes, 3-4 midterms and one final. one or two group projects. gives up to 20 points of EC. alright professor overall.
There is no doubt Professor Judd is a very smart professor when it comes to accounting, but he is the type of professor that expects every student to know and love accounting as much as him. He goes very quick and it is hard to ask questions. Although there are negatives, I learned a good deal about accounting.
Of all my professor, he assigns the most work. Can be rude to people who ask questions. Talks a lot about his personal life and business rather than the class. He does make it very boring. Hosts review sessions that go through too quickly (barely helps)
Show up to class and keep up with homework, really try to understand it (very important). Gives around 20 points of extra credit each semester. Lecture heavy. 3 exams and a final (tough). Ask for help and he will try to explain it as best as he can.
A lot of people don't like Professor Judd, but I had a great experience with the class. He gives you a great preview of what problem questions will be on the test. As long as you master those and study the textbook, you should do very well in the class.
Very fair. Gives many sample problem questions that are similar to the test during test reviews. Puts every student in a position to succeed, and is very accessible during office hours. He is very strict about due dates and following the exact directions he gives you, but otherwise a great professor.
Judd is really easy to get along with and wants you to do well. There are two homework assignments every week, but not hard (helps you if anything). Lots of extra credit for events throughout the semester. Tests are hard, but you can still get an A because there is so much that goes into your grade. Taking him again for sure!
Accounting is pretty boring and tedious, but he makes his expectations clear and tells you what you need to know to do well on the tests. He doesn't like being asked questions during class, but he's really nice during office hours and will help you out. There's a good amount of homework, pre class assignments, and a couple of projects. Decent class
Judd is a good professor, he wants his students to succeed but definitely makes you work for it. He comes on strong and you may think he is rude but that is only because he is professional. He treats you as a professional and if you pay attention in class you will do well. I am taking him again next semester.
Professor Judd came highly recommended to me, but I was not very pleased with my experience. Maybe it is the subject and the online class but class was just being read to off of a powerpoint and then being expected to memorize everything after hearing it once.
For an accounting 201 class, he expects everyone to be on the ball, all the time. Reading before class, during class, and after class. Speeds through lectures, expecting everyone to already know the material. Quizzes every week, Exams every 3 (4 total) and 3 hw assignments every week. Its a 201 class, not a 400. Skip him if you can, please. Do it.
Judd is an amazing professor!! Makes you work for your grade but if you read a chapter ahead and take notes, you won't feel overwhelmed by how fast-paced his lectures are. 2 homework assignments and 1 group quiz per week, and 1 exam every 3 weeks but is accessible outside of class and offers lots of extra credit. Most rewarding class I've taken!
I recommend you have a friend who already has notes in this class. Mark Judd goes through this material super fast and expects you to know it quickly. There is a lot of HW and he does have office hours open but honestly watching videos is better. Make sure to find a group of friends in the class to keep yourself in check. You are given study guides
Judd is a cool dude but not a very good professor. He doesn't teach and gets mad when students ask questions but when we do ask questions he doesn't answer them and makes us feel dumb for asking. He expects everyone to know everything instantly. He's also arrogant which is annoying and acts like he's all that.
He does not teach the content well. "if you dont understand the language of accounting then you wont understand this class" from the first day of class. When you ask questions because you dont understand he gets annoyed or answers it with a snarky response. Tons of homework and tests are based on you understanding the language.
Judd has been the best professor I've had at USD. I knew nothing about accounting before taking his class and have learned a lot. He explains a lot of material in class and it can be overwhelming, but office hours are accessible. He also owns a shop and talks about how the business works overall. I plan to take him for managerial accounting too.
Go to all of the extra credit events if you can. As a sophomore, you totally have time to do so, and it will give you a cushion of like 8-10% of your total grade. The lectures move quick, so read a lot outside of class, and ask questions. He is a pretty chill guy. Don't show up to class late, and definitely don't get up and leave during class.
Mark Judd knows what he is talking about but is NOT a good teacher. He throws countless amounts of unnecessary information at you, then makes his tests IMPOSSIBLE to finish. He makes jokes how his tests are impossible and test avg. are Ds and Fs. Makes fun of studnets for asking questions, yells at them for going to bathroom. Final is RIDICULOUS.
Absolute nightmare professor. Most stubborn person on this campus and the definition of an old head professor. He doesn't teach and expects you to have a good understanding of accounting already. If you don't feel comfortable with accounting, and it is not your major... Do not take this "professor" !
Judd is a knowledgeable professor but if you don't get what he's explaining right away you're going to spend a lot of time learning it yourself. There's tons of assignments and group quizzes but they're easy and saved my grade. I bombed almost every exam but got 100% on everything else so ended the class with a B. I appreciate him for that.
He's a really decent guy, and cares that you do well in the course. He makes great study guides that specifically tell you what is going to be on the test, however, if you want to do good, get ready to spend some time studying.
Judd is a solid teacher who knows what he is talking about. He has somewhat of an interesting teaching style (Just talks at you for the entire class) and if that doesn't work for you then you aren't going to do well. He cares about his students, but takes an old school approach to not being late, not leaving during class, etc. and will get upset.
Great professor and a solid person in general. He is super personable, and if you put in the work and make an effort, he will reward you. A shame he is retiring, I looked forward to speaking with him every day. Great guy, good course!
Professor Judd is a great teacher and it is such a shame that he's retiring because I really enjoyed his class. Attendance is optional but if you don't go, you will fail. He doesn't explain it the greatest, but the material is challenging to where you won't get it unless you go. The amount of extra credit offered, is insane. Take Judd if you can
he does not teach in his lectures, rather just skims over material and acts like his students should know. one of those teachers who never went into field and just became a teacher. wont let you use restroom and doesn't like when students ask questions
I'm not sure why everyone doesn't recommend taking this class. Professor Judd can be strict, but it's because he cares a lot about his students. If you're struggling, go to office hours and talk to him. He gives out really good study guides for his exams and makes it clear on what his expectations are. Show up and you'll do good.
He is nice but does not teach the best, he make it seem like everything is common sense. There are group quizzes after each chapter, exams aren't super hard and you get to have a note card. Offers a good amount of extra credit points. Exams are half mcq and half is problem questions.
Just let this man retire and do not take his class. He seems like a chill dude but he has a short temper. Very rude and cursed at me but at the same time let me retake a test to drop my lowest one. But either way his teaching sucks so even if you like him as a person you will be teaching yourself the whole class. Stay on top and Use mcgraw to learn
Professor Judd runs a fast-paced class, so staying on top of the material is key. Use Unstuckstudy and the textbook to supplement the lectures and ace the exams.
I don't think he should be the first professor to explain accounting to many students who are new entirely to the subject. He acts like you should know everything and gets mad when you struggle. I found this class to be very hard and ended up teaching myself most of it. The only thing that saved me was the extra credit definitely do it.
He has been teaching here a very very very long time...
I was in this class for 3 weeks and immediately knew it was going to be impossible to succeed. The explanations of basically everything were completely confusing; he talks to students that are new to accounting like they have been studying it for years. There is a quiz almost every single class and a midterm in September. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
Lectures are never clear and extremely dull. More than half of the class FAILED the first exam and Dr. Judd still did not curve the test. Dr. Judd simply goes through the motions during his lectures and slams the students with hours of homework and impossible tests. I apologize to anyone suffering through this course.
Gives quizzes every other class and genuinely laughs at the students who got answers wrong when going over on the many exams he gives. I'm sure Dr. Judd is a nice man outside of the classroom, but PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. The level of frustration I have in this course is quite literally unbearable.
Mark Judd does not teach, he talks. Dr. Judd relies heavily on his outdated powerpoints and rarely SHOWS any work on the board. He talks at students and belittles them when questions are asked. There are hours of homework every week and the exams are very difficult. Also, there are quizzes every week. Stay away.
I despise this man. He is actually the most self-absorbed and belittling professor I have ever had and genuinely wants his students to fail. He does not care about his students and prides himself on giving out bad grades. The exams and quizzes are impossible and he does not teach, he just reads off of slides. Be grateful he is retiring.
The class itself is not difficult, but Dr. Judd makes it difficult. He will give you certain things to study then completely format the test differently. Throws curveballs every test and assigns quizzes weekly. Boy is this class the struggle bus. Steer clear.
Worst professor I've had. Boring class, monotone, and outdated slides. It's clear he doesn't care about his students. Gets angry when using bathroom. Belittles confused students. He found a way to convince me to hate accounting. His hw and quiz/exam prep took all of my time. Such a shame these ratings don't pressure him to improve. Stay away!
Mark Judd is the worst teacher I have had at USD. Truly cares so little about his students' performance and only cares about getting through the day. All he does all class is complain about how tired he is. Quite literally, Judd is the most unlikeable professor I have had. Also, his tests are impossible. God this class was seriously abysmal.
MARK JUDD IS THE WORST TEACHER AT THE SCHOOL. HIS RATING IS A LIE, IT SHOULD BE A 1.5 BEING GENEROUS. HIS LAST TEST FAILED SO MANY STUDENTS AND IS IMPOSSIBLE. I SERIOUSLY ADVISE YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN AT WHATEVER COST.
I did well in this class, but still needed to share my thoughts just because of how miserable I was all semester. He seriously is a grumpy person, and I actually felt my happiness and joy in my soul leave my body every time I stepped into his classroom. Mark Judd, if you see this, you need to improve. You are not liked. Your rating is WAY too high.
Where do i start with this guy, rude, doesn't teach at all , exams are the bane of my existence expecting students to fill out 5+pages in an hour, also doesn't let students go the the bathroom, and has been lying about retiring for years, hope actually leaves soon for the sake of future students, Judd if you're seeing this its time to pack it up.
Judd had to be one of the most complex and hardheaded professors at usd. His lecture's were beyond outdated and exams were difficult to pass, w/ proper study habits. His office hours didn't even make a difference for help when being concerned for my grade, and instead makes it seem like it's common sense. I feel like he wants to retire but doesn't!
