Class will have back and forth question and answer type conversations involving few students. He doesn't use 1 particular book. It will seem like he enjoys you being confused. He does not give direct answers and may ignore/ laugh at your Q's

i would NOT take this teacher if u plan on passing the class. he doesnt formally lecture, he gives u a lecture outline and makes u teach yourself the information, and he doesnt require a specific text book. he quizzes u on labs u havent even taken yet, and wont answer your question. worst teacher

This is the worst teacher EVER!!!!! If you need/want to pass biology do not take it with him. He is SO unclear, NOT helpful and he has a way of making you feel stupid plus he NEVER answers the questions you may have. He is the worst teacher I have ever taken at Chabot. Those who wish to pass do NOT take his class. You will be better off with Braganza. More than half of the class drops out because he is unwilling to help and the tests/finals are unrelated. Do yourself a favor and stay away!!!!

He does not teach, he organizes his class like a club meeting. Any cell phone beep in the class causes a "celebration" (his name for pop quizes). If I'm paying money to learn, I want to be taught. He runs his class as though he expects the students to teach themselves. He is to be avoided at all costs.

WHen you ask him a question, he'll throw one back at you,, quite similar to the one you just asked but reworded... And never wants to answer the question for you.. he'll have you figure it out urself.. so if you want to pass take it with someone else other

This was by far one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He never answered questions and gave quizzes/tests on things we had not learned yet. He would test us on things we were supposed to learn the following week. Personality wise, he was a jerk. I doubt many people passed his class.

Horrible..never lectures..expects you to do it on your own..does not help or answer questions..answers a question with a question..no mupltiple choice test..in the begining of the semester we had about 50 students..by the drop date we had 20 and towards the end of the semester we had 12 and only 3 passed..take another teacher

He goes off on too many tangents. Some of the time I fell it's worth what I paid, but most of the time I don't.

If you want to try your hardest and still fail take Mark's class. He has no idea what he is doing and he is the worst professor I have ever had!!

Mark is overall a different teacher! He makes us as a class fish out our answers, which can be both good and bad. If you're in for a challenge and I mean the challenge of a lifetime...take his class!!!

I love a challenge but this is rediculous! His teaching style is just not for me, his lack of structure really irritates me. His lectures are more like a conversation,when they should have some substance. I wouldn't reccomend my worst enemy to take this teacher. He shouldn't be a teacher, he should be a hostest at a hotel, he's always smiling.

The good news is you really dont need to have the book to pass this class! He expects you to search to the ends of the earth for the information you're looking for. The bad news is he's useless as a teacher, he never knows what he's going to say when he comes to class, he just says whatever comes to mind when he gets there. Total waste of time!

Can you say distance eduation course? All of the homework assignments and quizzes are online. Mark doesnt like answering questions. He doesnt want people to get good grades. I am a hard working student and am honest when I say Mark is one of the worst teachers I've had. Wanna do well in biology and learn at the same time? Dont take his class!

He blames B/Board for many issue. I am not a quitter, but I feel like dropping his class. His lecutres are a total waste of time. He does not go over anything helpful for the quizzes or notes. Unfortunately, we are paying for education here so that hurts too.

After two months I had to drop his class. My advice to others, do not chose him. When you dont understand a subject after two months, there is something wrong.

What's the use of a teacher that doesnt teach? He doesnt answer your questions, he wants you to answer them yourself, thats ok sometimes but when the class has a debate that takes up class time and he still doesnt answer the question, there is a problem. His lectures are just social gatherings about various issues, VERY unorganized.

One of my worst teacher experiences to date. Unorganized, unclear, lazy... Started out with a full class, and there were 14 of us that lasted till the final. Honestly, I've never studied or tried so hard for class in my school life and I got a C. Run!!

I dropped after two months. My suggestions is not to take him for Biology 31. This is half blackboard and lectures in class. Never experienced so much issues in my life with the blackboard with his class. Learned more by reading the text book that going to his class. His lectures were a waste of time. You were pretty much on your own.

i dont know what this teachers intentions are but dont take his class for bio 31. i dont know if he makes things difficult for students due to some personal vendetta or if he just clearly cant teach.

I am just speechless with this instructor. He can't teach and does not want answer student's questions. He simply tells you to go figure it out yourself. He believes the student should learn on their own. What's the point of having an instructor then? Worst teacher I have ever taken.

Total waste of time. I got A on his class, i did it on my own after decided not to attend his lectures. He is not helpful at all,when you ask him question he would just say "I dont know" what the *&@* is he doing then??? His exams are easy though, most if them are fill in the blanks, so if you read his outline online you will be fine.

EGOMANIAC. Talked about personal life than teaching biology. Worst teacher ever.About 85% of the class failed. If students have issues and talked to him about it, he would give them a bad grade. Went after those who opposed him. He boasted that he also teaches at Cal Berkley. Guess this gives him the EGO to treat students anyway he wanted.

Will not answer questions. If he does its with another question that he asks someone else. if they dont know it..then he moves on...useless as a teacher.he also confuses you intentionally by stating this can do this sometimes and look like this but its actually this!..His testa are trick questions and double worded negatives. I honestly believe that those of you who say that he's a good prof, HAVE NEVER TAKEN A TRUELY GREAT PROF BEFORE. Because anyone whose ever been changed, influenced or at the very least TAUGHT by their prof will NEVER say that he's a good pro. His "TEACH URSELF" method is his way of not having to teach u. 50 students entered less than 20 remain.

I'm currently getting a C in the class, borderline passing. My gpa was a 3.8. Thanks to Marks great "teach yourself method". I honestly don't know why he's at chabot, he obviously HATES TEACHING. I'm considering transferring somewhere else, since I'm a bio maj. He's been at here a long time. It's obvious CHABOT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT IT'S STUDENTS.

I was uneasy from the 1st day, I stayed because I needed class. He said himself that he's easily distracted. Seems like "short term memory loss". Couldn't focus during lectures. Summer class w alot of high school kids quickly learned to get him off topic by mentioning food. Expects even the quiet ones in class to form impromptu discussion groups.

Had Chem 1A and 1B with this guy in college. Really mean. Big ax to grind. Bitter.

Mark test what you dont know and makes the correct answers unclear. I have never had a teacher so interested in fooling you. He tests weeks after the content and the pace is overwhelmingly fast and vague. He has no idea how to teach the first level of BIO to the new students and should not be teaching BIO 31.

Very strange guy! Let's be fair. Here is his teaching style: he expects you read textbook on the weekends and do the hwk online BEFORE his lecture for the new chapter. So why do I need a teacher? Not an easy class but I didn't expect it to be. Teacher is kind hearted but a horrible teacher. Mr.K tries his best to use relatable examples but then fumbles upon his words making concepts even more confusing. He should not be a teacher!! Study your best and good luck to you.

Didn't introduce himself. First thing he said was "Didn't you guys go check me out on rate my professor? Why would you take me, especially during the summer?" Lectures are all over the place. Quizzes are more like tests and there is one every day. You must read and pay very close attention because quizze are on material you go over later that day.

Mr. Kamakea is a good guy but he is very confusing and all his lectures are very boring. In his class i always fell in sleep because he teaches in a way that you will definitely fall asleep. He doesn't answer questions and I wish i didn't take his class.

Multiple students in class complained about his teaching methods and yet he refuses to adjust. Not only that but he assigns close to 5 pieces of homework every week and doesn't seem to know his students have lives outside of his class. Plus, he refuses to clarify material. Definitely not the best teacher. Avoid if you actually want to learn.

I have never failed a class before until I took this one, and I have an undergrad degree already. Mr. K is extremely confusing with a convoluted grading style. There is something wrong if you're getting A's in lab and work, but failing all the tests. He expects you to have knowledge beyond that of a basic biology course. Don't take this class.

This class is flipped styled, meaning you read and learn the material BEFORE class. During class you discuss and gets answers if you have questions. Biology is a hard subject as it is, but learning it on your own and having to do the homework (which is all graded) before class is ridiculous! Mark is an interesting professor. He is really hands off and requires students to do most of their class work online, he will sit and read yahoo news. During class he will also go off on tangents about protests that he is involved with. He expects students to be experts in biology, he will answer any questions with confusing questions.

He doesn't know how to teach. If you ask him a question, he will answer with a question. If you ask another student for help, he will confront you at the busstand for not asking him questions cause he feels slighted.
