Kean is the man for life, and B9 RULES

Kean is the man. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had and makes SM299 almost enjoyable (if that is even possible). Mad props to Kean on being on of my fav teachers ever and making it possible to pull off a B or above in 299.

If you say not to take Kean if you don't understand and he lets students out to be popular you're wrong. Kean lets you out early so the people who get it may go and if you don't understand it go see him one on one, he'll make sure you get it and do well!

Easily my best prof this semester. His class is interesting and fun and if you take decent notes (and have a grapher than can do disributions) its easy to get 100+ on the tests (my ave is 103.5 right now). He is very upbeat and approachable and makes the material as easy to understand as possible.

His hour and 1/2 lectures usually never go more than 40 minutes, but you always walk out of there feeling like you actually understand the concepts. Tests can be tricky, but they're all open book. He's a great teacher, overall.

Fantastic teacher. Math actually makes sense and is interesting when he teaches it. Unfortunately, my TA was absolutely horrendous. I probably would've gotten an A if he ran my discussion instead of the utter moron that was my TA. Make sure he's your discussion teacher, or you might regret it.

The post before me is right. The class really isn't very difficult. But I disagree that it is robotic. In the business world, you will use a computer to assist you with statistical analysis. Such an awesome guy! All exams and quizzes are open notes and they are all relatively easy. It's really not hard to do well in this class as long as you keep up with the homework and ask questions when you don't get something. He does a great job explaining the concepts so that almost everyone understands it right away. Well clear and very helpful.

Great professor. Easy A class if you go to all the lectures, go to discussions, and do the homework. Very easy to fall behind, and hard to make up if you skip class because the textbook does not have any explanations just bullet points from powerpoints. Go to office hours and make yourself known. Participate in class. Would take him again.

If you've ever had stats before, this class will be ridiculously easy and really boring, but Kean's still a great prof. Open-everything exams and he drops major hints in class about the types of problems to expect. Unless you suck at math, no reason to get lower than an A.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER. He WANTS you to pass his class. His lectures are clear and consistent. He is easy on the eyes too (this is coming from a guy). Go to every lecture, DO the practice problems from the lecture slides book and from the 101 special problems book and I GUARANTEE you will get an A in the class. (seriously, I got 100 on the first exam)

Statistics are intuitively hard, but Kean made my life so much easier. He made the materials crystal clear. He talks very fast in class, and he usually ends the lectures early, so don't come late or skip classes. Pay full attention in class and finish your homework, then you should be fine. No attendance is taken, but you'd better come.

Professor Kean truly saved my semester grade. This course is difficult, it is open book but all of the exams are challenging. TO do well in the class you need to do the homework before discussion. Ask Kean for help and he will do his best to make sure you understand the material and get a good grade in the class.

Professor Kean was my favorite Professor at BU. Honestly so genuine, caring, and personal. He goes out of his way to get to know his students and is extremely approachable if you are struggling with grasping a concept. A lot of Professors get annoyed when you go to their office hours, but Kean encouraged it.

Professor Kean is a great professor and knows the criteria extremely well, however the class grade is based almost entirely on three tests which are quite tricky, and what he teaches in lecture is much easier than the homework which reflects the actual test questions. He is very understanding and helpful.

He explains the materials in lecture very clearly and if you have him for discussion, he does a really good job reviewing the important stuff there. Good lecturer, makes things pretty easy. This class prob doesn't teach stats to anywhere near the same level as one in CAS but instead prepares for more casual real life uses. Glad I took it. If you take notes in class you do not need to get the textbook he lists (the one that he wrote). It is literally just his powerpoint slides not even formatted

There's a mutual understanding students and Kean have as to not waste time dragging lec/dis on if not needed. Gives lots of hw, but that's the only way to learn math anyway. Nice, and explains hw step by step in dis. If you're a cute girl though, sit in the back bc he WILL try to smalltalk to you every time there's a lull... Good teacher overall !

What a wonderful professor! BU has very few professors like him, and I can say with confidence that you MUST take him! Pretty tough class in my opinion, but all his tests are non-cumulative and open note. Very smart guy he knows what he's doing.

Professor Kean is the best Professor I've met in Questrom so far. Really wanted to take this course during spring but ended up taking it over the summer but it was worth the wait (sad that it was fully online tho). He made stats really interesting and he's just very charming- a must take even if it means waiting for another semester.

Defiantly one of the best professors I have had so far. He explained statistic concepts very well and made it extremely easy to understand. Only complaint is he did not write the tests and was not the lecturer this semester which made the class difficult with confusing, frustrating exams when students really understood the subject at discussion.

Prof Kean is the best prof I had at BU. He was my discussion professor and helped solidify so many concepts! He's super helpful and caring about his students. But BU ruined the course by having Ericson do the lectures. Avoid Ericson if you can, but with Kean's help your likelihood to succeed would definitely increase

You'll never think that he had been teaching for decades cuz he's always SO energetic. Also very great at explaining concepts -- sometimes even used real life examples which made the class much more fun. One of the most encouraging educators I've ever had. Now I just hope he could stay here forever lol :) BU must invest to find professors like him!

He was a discussion professor turned lecturer and it shows. He cares about his students and teaches lectures like it is a class. He is easy to follow and has a lot of energy. Would recommend.

Kean is energetic and one of the few lectures I looked forward going to. I think he's reached the point where he thinks it's common knowledge and hastily goes over concepts during lecture but the homework solidifies it. Class always ended 20-30 mins earlier which could be either a good or bad thing.

Answering the 2 ratings below me: QM is by no means an easy course, but if you really do put in work you'll do fine even if you aren't math person (like me). And it teaches useful Excel skills so IMO it is helpful w/ internships. So don't let the hard materials scare you away, Kean is a very encouraging professor; Just make good use of your notes!

Prof. Kean is genuinely the best prof I've had! His lectures and DISCUSSIONS esp are amazing, he keeps things interesting and won't hesitate to clear up any confusion. Ask questions in class, do the homework, go to office hours and you'll do well. Open book exams, if you know the material, there won't be surprises. I couldn't recommend him more!!!!

Encouraging, energetic, and chill lecturer. Lectures are engaging. He tends to explain concepts quickly and skips past slides often. He teaches mainly through example questions. Oversimplifies things but effective at introducing ideas. I learned more in discussion. QM221 Exams are open note but hard. Don't let your guard down and ask questions.

godsent. pretty chill and caring prof. i hate stats but he is the reason why i attend every lecture and discussion at 8am. sometimes, he is kinda fast in teaching but really accessible outside class so if you need more help, try to reach out thru office hour

Professor Kean is a good man. He cares about students and replies to emails warmly and in detail. He wishes me good luck on the exam when I visited him during office hours and emailed him. The exams are not hard but a little bit tricky and there's a curve after the final exam. He explains the concepts clearly and the recordings are helpful.

Prof Kean is a great professor. He is very efficient and finishes a class in 3/4 of the lecture time. He told us the most efficient way to do a problem too, which is super helpful on the exam. Allows us to bring notes and use the internet on the exam too

Great professor and I love that he teaches us the quick ways instead of making us memorize formulas. But tests are harder than the practice.

Try to take Kean for QM221. Out of the rest of the professors, he knows what he is talking about the most and will tell you the easy way to do it. However, he can be misleading about the difficulty of the exam, so don't let his "this is easy" attitude confuse you. Very accepting of questions and loves participation.

Kean is such a great professor. He is very engaging in class and tries to make the lectures fun even though some of the content was boring or hard. He is very understanding and takes the time to get to know his students. He is very chill so I would recommend you take him.

Great professor. Finishes lectures in 30-45 minutes. Take him for QM if you can

Professor Kean is efficient and explains concepts clearly. The exams are challenging but fair - stay on top of homework and engage in class to do well. unstuckstudy AI is a helpful study aid alongside the lecture recordings.

Professor Kean is very good at his job. Compared to all the other professors in QM221, he teaches you what you need to know to prepare for the exams and gets straight to the point. He knows what hes doing. In all honesty, he's prolly one of the best prof out there when it comes to learning material for the class. He will help you succeed

best prof u can get, very easy to understand. It is just the class is hard but he does a great job understanding.

He's very clear in teaching and will only go through stuff that will be on the test. Try to go to lectures to get the best out of the class or else the content can get confusing, however, the lectures and slides do get posted online so you can reference that if you miss class.

Ends class early, very kind, but skips parts of the lecture so you would have to still scram through ppts and lecture videos before midterms and finals.

Professor Kean is the reason why you should attend BU. He is warm, kind, and approachable. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He replies quickly to emails. You should definitely take him.

Professor Kean teaches us exactly what we need to know for exams and is very time efficient, he always ends class 30 minutes early. I thought he prepared us well for the exams and was a clear teacher, but he does move very quickly through the material so it can be hard to keep up during class.

Prof Kean is a very nice and down-to-earth kind of guy. His lectures always end 30-40 min early, and he shows you the best/easiest/most efficient ways to solve the problems. However, he moves pretty fast through the class so it can be hard to understand and keep up. He also sometimes makes the exams seem easier than they really are.
