bad teacher
Linear algebra - mediocre teacher... not very clear, but helpful if you go to him for help. Really nice guy - thick accent - If you want an A, you have to teach yourself a lot of the time. Smart guy, but overall, average professor.
Very nice, his exams are straight from the homework, do your homework and you will be good. He doesn't give too much homework, and his fair in grading.
you have to teach yourself everything cause he doesn't and if you ask a question he may attempt to answer it but never quite does. not that bad of a guy.
if you dont want to get totally bored and fall asleep in class DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. he is so boring. sometimes you have to teach yourself some of the material because he doesnt do a good job explaining it.if you ask him to explain the material better he will just get you more confused. if you ca
Had him when he first started.Fairly easy for an upper level math course, nice guy, gave us copies of his notes for each class. I'd take him again!
needed him to sign a paper so i could graduate (long story). between his horrible accent and inability to grasp english language, he said he wouldn't sign it (b/c he couldnt understand me), and now i may not graduate. HE IS A HORRIBLE MAN. i could only imagine how horrible his class must be.
He is the WORST professor I've ever had. In addition to that, the so-called contemporary math we learned was tedious...something we will NEVER use in the real world.
i dont know the material covered is just stupid.
The worst teacher i think i have ever had in life, i regret taking his class because he did not teach me anything, i had to go to tutors and teach myself-DO NOT TAKE HIM-
He is a good teacher. If you just follow him along, you will do a great job.
Yeah right this guy is the WORST teacher I've ever had.Lets think like a teacher if the whole class is doing poorly who's fault is that?He is very unclear with his teaching and test questions. The material he has us study is not everyday math it's a math that we'll never ever use again. Fun huh?
i dreaded going to this class every time i had it. if i did go, i would just sit there, there was no point of being there bc u cant understand him and there is no interest to understand him the class was horrible and the "everday" math i know i will never use again... dont, please dont take this class ever. it will be a bad decision.
very hard to understand him, but the material is easy to teach yourself. classes were very boring. his quizes were easy and tests were easy. final was everything on the tests. if you can understand and teach yourself this is an easy class but if u need someone to explain it to you good luck here
Perhaps he's not a good teacher for this kids...but in the Graduate School he was one of my best teachers. Classes were sometimes boring but this is NECESSARY because he wanted us to understand clearly. If he rushed...then we'd have the lousy professor that kids are talking about...I'd take him for any Math applied course!
its hilarious, he's the only guy who writes evrything on the board but at the end of it ur still lost...how the hell is tht??? i kno one person who got an A, dunno wat hapd to the rest...shud u take the class, upto YOU?!
Gosh! Korlie was mas best professor in the Graduate School at Montclair in Applied Math!...But of course he needs to improve the way he explains anything at his office. Thanks Korlie...I feel more confident after taking classes with you.
This Professor is so CONFUSING.....I don't what he is talking about....He'll deffinatly confuse u...i think it's better to learn on ur own especailly if u r taking Calculus! He is kind of Easy, but most of the time he does give out homewrk...But really....So Confusing...........Good Luck If u have Him
id have to say he was probably the worst professor i have ever had. he is confusing and has a heavy accent. i would never ever take him again. the class was just the worst. i found myself never going cuz it was that bad!
Really great prof. Very smart, always comes to class prepared, exams and tests are fairly easy. I had him in both Undergrad and Grad courses and it was always a pleasure to be in his classes. I highly recommend him
Actually, He's really GOOD! He's always prepared! He grades the tests very FasT n really wants his students to do good in the course!!. He might be confusing at times, but it's not a big deal! Just pay attention in the class n ask him questions n deffinatly u'll do Good! Korlie's Awesome.......
Horrible Prof., rushes through all his lesson plans constantly makes mistakes and the class has to correct him. Entire semester stressful because a majority failed exams he curves, but if u do well on your quizes it helps ur grade a lot. Do not know how I got an A honestly thought i was going to fail.... dont recommend taking him! 2stressful
not my type did not seem to care
I had this prof. for business calculus. He is a little hard to understand, but you get used to his accent quickly. He will help you if you ask, and is a fair grader. Not an outstanding professor, but a little bit better than average.
CLASS WAS HARD BUT IF YOU TAKE NOTES AND DO THE REVIEW YOU'LL BE FINE. I FAIL EVERY TEST BUT HE STILL GAVE ME A ---C--- FOR THE CLASS. VERY FAIR GRADING.
Korlie is not a hand-holder! You will need to read the book and maybe even get outside tutoring to keep up. However, if you do the homework and attend class, you might be OK. It was a very stressful class. Everyone felt like they were failing. He grades on a curve so that helped in the end. A LOT of work!! Maybe too much for a 100 level class
Miserable class, miserable professor. Maybe the worst I've ever had in my entire educational experience. Can't understand a word he says, teaches out of the book, assigns tons of homework, unfair grader, refuses to give extra help. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
I have Korlie for calc 3 and prob and it is horrible. I dont even know why I show up to class. Everything I know about calc 3 I taught myself from the book and in probability I have no idea whats going on. On the plus side, he does curve generously but its still stressful to study for his tests and to still really not learn it all that well
This sums up korlie.. He reads a problem from the book and puts the problem on the board, looks at it, smiles, looks at the class, class is 100% lost, he goes "uhhh" looks around and puts a ? where the work would go and puts the answer below it and says "sorry" I dont know what to do.. what a joke!
HORRIBLE.. WHO HIRED HIM!?! and better yet WHO GAVE HIM TENURE! ps he teaches something new every semester so hes always teaching a course for the first time or first time in 5 years.. its really bad
I think everyone should stop all this commotion about Dr. Korlie being a bad teacher. I think he is extremely helpful. His tests are similar to the assignments he gives us from the book and he's always available for office hours. I'd definitely take him again!
At 1st, Korlie does appear 2 be horrible, but in his defense the book is much worse. He didnt hold anyone's hand and it does get frustrating when he doesnt help you with the homework, but searching for the answers yourself does make you understand the material much better. All in all he's not that bad. I deserved a B and he gave me A- Generous
A good guy and made material easy
he isn't as bad as everyone says he is
His tests are very easy but the fact that he cannot explain the material correctly can inhibit most people from getting good grades and learning anything. His understanding of Calculus is very lacking and its sad he is allowed to teach
probability SUCKS! and this class was just horrible. we had like 3 homework assignments, 2 exams and 1 final. I STUDIED MY ASS OFF!! he puts up practice problems that you dont have to do, BUT THEY WILL BE ON THE TEST! his tests are REALLY hard! if you could take probability with Cutler, DO IT!!! KORLIE IS SOO MUCH HARDER!!!
GOOD GUY, I learn a lot with him, only few hmw and 1 mid term and one final, also 2 projects give you a final hmw as option to improve your grade
Besides teaching the worlds most useless subject (Calculus) Prof. Korlie has astounded me with his uselessness. not only is his African accent at times bothersome, but his student-teacher relationship is null. He is of no help. If your taking his summer class, save yourself, you will wish you didn't take it. Horrible. Generous Grader.
I just had professor Korlie for the summer and he isnt that bad. Do the practice problems and study. I received a B in his class. He curved all the tests =)He can be hard to understand at times but its not too bad
He is the Worst professor at MSU seriously if your not a math major and our just taking this course to satisfy your credits avoid him. He's nasty and rude and has no patience with his students if your having problems with his work and try to email him he takes like 4 days to get back. and always has an excuse. He sucks!!!
Worst Professor at MSU ! I hate his class. He has not patience for those who dont understand math ! AVOID HIM
he was no help at all. when i went to see him for his office hours he wasnt even there. i felt like i was teaching myself the material. it was bad enough the class was online. worst professor ever!
I took this class over the summer because I thought it would be easier. Boy was I wrong!! The online aspect of the class was not terrible just VERY time consuming. The midterm and final were very difficult and focused always on the hardest concepts ONLY! Helpful prof. but has a very heavy accent.
This guy is the nicest and easiest guy ever. His tests are a peice of cake and he never has a bad attitude. I got a 100 on both my tests so far and encourage everyone to take his class. Seriously love the guy..
Good teacher knows the subject very well. I would take him again. Tests are easy.
I've heard that some students thrive in his class. I was not one of them. He explains things once very rapidly and then assigns homework. I found his teaching style difficult to work with. His tests are very difficult and there are often surprises on the tests that have not been explicitly covered. I can't recommend this professor to anyone.
Korlie is awesome. I do not know why anyone gives him a bad rating...except that they are slackers..its CALC you have to study and practice! he is always available for his office hours and loves to help his students. his tests are exactly the problems he assigns on web assign just the numbers changed..study and you can do good!
heavy accent(misunderstood "factor" as "fighter" - thought it was some calc word for 2 weeks), FLY THROUGH THE MATERIALS AND ASSUME YOU UNDERSTAND IT. Not an easy A, tests are all open edit, most of them are like web assign. Don't recommend it but its not bad
As hard as he may be to understand, he is really nice and curves a lot. I got a 77 on the first exam, 65 on the second, and 86 on the last test. Had a 96 homework average and a 75 quiz average Got an A in the class.
i just did the first test. the questions are soooooo easy. he is very nice . he gave us the simplest question from the home work. he is very nice .
first test was easy. however, the second test was hard.
Moves at a good pace, exams are fair, and he's always available for help. He does a good job explaining the material. I would definitely take him again.
he is very nice. Not much homework. he will do his best to help you if you actually show up and try.very easy grader.
Horrible professor I have ever had. He doesn't even explain anything goes to quickly and is not helpful during class or office hours I ended up not passing his class and I tried my best. He ruined everything for me and my gpa. Also he has a horrible accent and do not take him save yourself
He is very very nice. In the end of the semester he curves alot . Take him
Just try to get good grades in the homework , and you will pass his class. He is very nice.
He is the best . Easy A. . Thank you professor Korlie . You are the best
Doesn't get more straightforward than Dr. Korlie's Numerical Analysis course. The 4 homeworks and 2 exams consisted of both theoretical and computational problems. Lectures were sometimes dry but easy to follow.
Not a interesting class. It is a boring class. But only 5 question for each quiz and test. Each one worth 20 point. If you did well. That great. If you didn't do well, u done. Many assignments.
Terrible Professor. DO NOT TAKE. I had him for pre calc and calc 2. He was the only one teching these courses at the time so i had to take him. If possible wait a semester to take another professor. Terrrible at explaining things, terrible accent, goes way too fast i had to teach myself everything
When I say worse,it's terribly worse. If you are good at calc and confident then go for it.Otherwise please please save yourselves people. He has to be the most worst professor of MSU.He is gonna kill your GPA and leave you feeling miserable.Wait another semester for different teacher if he is only the one.He only shows the smile outside.Be safe!
There is some substance to the previous negative posts. However, the problem might be the way CalcII is structured at MSU; class was overwhelming at times, as professor had to cover several chapters in one lecture. Quizzes and exams were short, so if you got one wrong, off go 20 points. Fair grader. Need to allot more time to teach the latter half.
Korlie is a great professor! Be prepared to study, the material is tough.
Professor Korlie is probably the worst professor at Montclair State. He's very hard to understand and teaches the material faster than you can snap your fingers. Easily one of the worst classes I've ever taken and solely thanks to him. The material is difficult and I got more value youtube'ing the lessons than I did actually going to class.
Honestly, if you do your homework, go to class and study for the exams you'll get a B or higher. He is always available after class and during his office hours. He goes through the material so quickly because covering 4 chapters of Calculus in one semester is not easy. He is a great professor so take him.
First, Calc II is a hard subject, so prepare to study a lot. Korlie is a very very nice professor but has a thick accent which most people in class don't understand. He is likely to help you succeed but also he teaches and writes extremely fast! Funny at times. Curves a lot. I definitely recommend taking him even though it requires work.
had him for calc 1&2 and was not half as bad as any of these reviews say. to do well there are few things you just have to do: pay attention in class, do the webassigns -(make it a priority to do well on them), and review your notes when studying and practicing. his exams barely vary from his examples, so practice and you'll get a B or better
Was a bit worried to take because of the awful reviews he has here. To be honest, he is not as bad as people write. If you actually TRY he is willing to pass you. Also, curves A LOT on tests which is always a plus. Being that it is calc 2 he made it a lot simpler. Seriously would take him again! Much easier than others teaching!
I took Dr. Korlie for both Calc 1 & 2. He's great for calc 1, tougher to understand for calc 2 since its a lot of material for one semester. He curves A LOT but just make sure you're just on the avg of the class. Quizzes are like his hw problems. Tests are like examples from class. Ask for help. Do the hw cause it'll REALLY HELP YOUR GRADE.
After failing calc 3 twice because of disastrous professors who really should not be teaching this subj, I took it with Dr. Korlie and I am finally understanding the material. Awesome professor, Take him! he cares about the students, even brings an outline of each lesson we learn. test/qz really reflect what we learn in class/hw unlike other profs
Very professional with clear directions. Solves problems in class with explicit step by step instructions that are easy to follow. Goes a little fast at times. Will answer all questions during and after class. You will need to practice a lot on your own like in any math class.
Truly the worst professor I have ever had. Explaining 1 question took a total of an hour he assigns hw and then the test is completely different I was basically teaching myself everything. I highly do not recommend
Korlie is very boring yes, but he is a good professor. For people who are going for math, the major is not easy. Tests are about 4 questions, but thats every math professor. Very good at explaining and gives you a lot of resources for the class to help understand including section summaries.
Korlie is very boring yes, but he is a good professor. For people who are going for math, the major is not easy. Tests are about 4 questions, but thats every math professor. Very good at explaining and gives you a lot of resources for the class to help understand including section summaries. Gotta work for the grades
He does not teach period. Just ships out the material and leaves you to fend for yourself. Not a good prof at all.
I honestly learned nothing in this course. He reads off the presentations which is so annoying. Just cares about going through the material and not actually teaching. One thing i learned this semester is that you are your best teacher. Exams are not that bad homework is good content is not that bad you can honestly teach yourself
Boring, boring, boring. His lecture is a sleeping pill. Very monotone and uninspiring. But, if you somehow manage to remain engaged, you'll find that he's very smart and knowledgeable. He grades by few things and his tests are 4-5 questions, which sucks. He doesn't curve, but grades leniently on tests and projects. HW is online, short, and easy.
Absolutely terrible! He doesn't explain things at all and has a heavy accent so you can barely understand him some times. There's no homework to help you boost your grades and the quizzes are like 3 questions so if you get one wrong, you're screwed. Do NOT take him!
He is awful. Do not take this class with him. He does not teach. He gives quizzes and exams with very few questions so if you mess up you're in trouble. Also he gives only a few quizzes a midterm and final so it counts really high. Pretty much everyone in the class failed the first quiz and he did not care. Do not take this class whatever you do!
He is very smart and knows what he is teaching. He rarely makes mistakes which is refreshing as a math major at MSU. However, the sound of his voice will put you straight to sleep. HW, projects, and exams were straight forward. Except the final. I failed the final. I aced everything else and still got an A in the course. He definitely curved :)
Professor Korlie was extremely disrespectful to my class. He has no relationship with his students, nor does he care if they pass or fail his class. Not once did he clarify anything. The class overall grade was very low since we were all very confused. In his office hours he didnt help me. Dont take him!!! Not a nice man.
save yourself and do not I repeat DO NOT take this horrible professor. The material is ridiculously difficult and he answers/helps/clarifies absolutely nothing. Very dull boring man, has zero relationships with his students, does not care if you pass or fail, and very disrespectful, easily the worst class I have ever taken in my life. Unbelievable.
The bad reviews really scared me from taking his class but to the people reading this, he's absolutely NOT THAT BAD. His voice is extremely monotone & he may sound boring, but he actually can be fun and even cracks jokes often with students. He answers any questions asked & the HW/test aren't that hard if you pay attention. He's an okay teacher.
His lectures bored me and, considering it was a night class, almost put me to sleep. He had a total of ten assignments, three quizzes, three tests, and a final. His tests are very hard. One of his tests was so hard that everyone in the class failed(highest grade was a 62)and he refused to curve it. Do NOT recommend if you haven't seen calc before
Professor Korlie is someone to just read off of the notes on the board, he is lecture heavy and has a very harsh accent so it is very hard to hear him. if you take him, you'll have to pay attention every second to make sense of what he is talking about. Do not be afraid to get a tutor after him.
This professor has made me hate math and this has been my favorite subject all my life. His lectures make me want to fall asleep and he could not care one bit about his students. He continues to be a professor when he should give it up.
Thankful for the pass/fail option bc corona. I almost failed the class, he is horrible! Do NOT take MATH 106 with him. He never answers emails. He made the class incredibly boring and HARD. The content makes no sense. He does not care if you pass or fail. There's a midterm, final, 4 quizzes, & a 6-10 page final term paper. No HW,textbook not needed
Please save yourself the tears do not take this course what so ever or this professor. He is extremely hard he does not answer emails no matter how many times you email this guy. He will make you feel like there is no help you can run to but yourself . This class will lower your gpa if you can avoid this guy please do
Since the first day of the class, Professor Korlie has not been helpful. If you plan to take this class online be ready to self learn the day before a quiz. He typically gives you the work the day before the quiz and you will cram for a good grade. Heads up you will be required to write a term paper. Don't mess up your GPA avoid taking him.
On the first day of the online class, I was expecting the class to be somewhat easy but the notes he provided was complicated to understand and the quizzes and exams were on a scheduled time, which gave me stress to complete it, plus he gave a 6-10 page paper, a term paper for a Math class. Thank god I didn't have to take him in person.
DO NOT TAKE HIM - taking a summer online class in the middle of a pandemic was hard enough but this professor made it even more difficult- I usually dont write reviews but he was so terrible- average midterm and quizzes grades were LOW but no CURVE- did not TEACH just gave out handouts - GPA RUINER
No matter what you do at MSU never take this professor he never answers his emails and despite terrible average grades refuses to give curves no extra credit offered as well with extremely difficult quizzes exams and one essay this will ruin your gpa and your happiness so I would recommend to save yourself from this terror
Every quiz is a pop quiz because he doesnt tell you when they are Dont make the mistake and listen to the reviews that say that he is not that bad as this website makes him seem because hes worse During a worldwide pandemic he cannot show an ounce of empathy and curve a failing class average
Prof. Korlie is a really smart man. Although his class seemed a bit overwhelming at first, the lectures and handouts he created were very clear and informative. They required thorough reading, but they were had plenty of examples to explain everything. His tests were also very straightforward and could easily be correlated to the notes.
He basically just speed-read through powerpoint slides instead of breaking down the material, and then dropped several assignments on webassign so we're drowning in homework that he can't even help us with. I have learned absolutely nothing so far, and I am EXTREMELY agitated.
Despite all of the reviews written about him I wasn't sure what to expect of this class. I took his class online for the winter semester and it wasn't too bad honestly. The handouts and practice excersises he posts are very clear and similar to what is on the tests and quizzes. Just read over the handouts and take your own notes and you'll do fine.
He's really so sweet and kind, willing to answer questions as long as you ask, and fair with tests and quizzes. Con is that he's not so clear while teaching and reads off slides the whole time. Homework weekly but it's not hard-- just takes time so don't wait long to do it. His tests are worth a lot of the grade so be prepared and take notes!
I took this as a summer class and I would say it is a tough class, but you can't expect a 4-month class jammed into a couple weeks not to be. As long as you stay updated on the coursework, like review it on your own time after class, you should be good. He does drone on but is willing to answer any questions. But sometimes he skips details.
Really difficult class. And speaks non stop
This professor teaches high level calculus using powerpoints. Beware! He goes very fast and is extremely poor at explaining the material. He does minimal examples in class and relies on our understanding based on the homework. His tests and exams are suspiciously easy considering the difficulty of the material, and is not helpful in office hours.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO boring. Awful at teaching the material. Class is structured so awkwardly. You do the homework before you actually learn the material... I hate the MSU math department. It needs a major change in staff and structure.
Let me tell you something. Pre-calculus is not an easy subject but you can pass without this professor. In fact, you can skip all of his classes and still pass. He assigns homework and it's all self taught. That's it. He grades attendance so that would be the only reason to even show up.
- Boring class. I struggle to not fall asleep every day. - Teaches enough to where I can understand the basics of what I'm doing. - He is open for extra help - Thick accent, may be hard to understand. - Lots of homework - Nice guy tho
this dude is horrible he only reads off the screen and does not teach at all. he changes due dates without notice and gives a lot of homework with weekly quizzes and tests. save yourself the trouble and do not take him
Don’t that this professor. He does not teach and grades reflect but he seems to not care. He never explains or tries to help you understand. He just uses PowerPoints and a laser pointer to read the modules word for word. Barely any examples. Weekly quizzes and exams every 2 weeks.
This professor is friendly, but his classes are long lectures and he just reads off of slides and states the steps of problems with little explanation. It's harder to learn when he's talking at us and not with us. About 40% of your grade consists of tests/quizzes (not including the final) and he does NOT curve. Very difficult class.
Wants you to fail. You need to teach yourself basically because he just reads off of slides. Few in class tests that are worth over half of your grade, not including the final. Doesn't curve.
Had to work so hard for my grade; I basically taught myself this entire class. He just teaches off slides and does the examples on the slides in detail and made math much more complicated than it needed to be. Didn't really explain concepts or theorems well, and calc II is hard enough already. Tests were like 5 questions.
By far the worse prof ever! Doesn't answer your question, I asked twice the entire semester, he looked annoyed. He solves but doesn't explain anything, he reads the slides. Doesn't know how to teach or encourage students to learn or ask questions. I'd advise NOT to take this prof unless you're advanced, you won't be learning anything. Best of luck!
All of the material is self-taught, quizzes are taken at home, and exams are given every other week. Don't depend on the professor to cover everything, when it comes to formulas and algebraic skills it's on you to learn and practice solving questions. If you're diligent and persistent you can tolerate this class. If you give up easily, don't .
Not a very good professor. Does a bad job of explaining difficult calc topics, and most of what i learned was self taught. His tests are often 3-4 easy questions, but the number of questions makes it really easy to fail them if you have anything short of a full comprehension of the topics.
You definitely have to teach yourself in this course. He doesn't explain things very well but is better than Professor Nita. Go to office hours and ask questions. Try to look at as many examples as you can. Youtube is your best friend remember that.
Very boring. Reads straight from the textbook for each lecture. He's kind of inconsistent with partial credit on quizzes and tests. I wouldn't say he's the worst professor I've had, but he's not the best; he definitely didn't inspire me to continue taking high level math courses. He's not particularly mean though... so there's that I guess.
He is an extremely forgiving grader, but you will need to do a lot of self studying as you cannot completely rely on his teaching. A lot of people mistake professor rating with course rating, calc 2 is hard but the professor is a good person and teaches decently well.
Talented professor, he is interested in the subject and you could tell he genuinely enjoys talking about it. He is the nicest guy too, I had poor attendance throughout most of the semester because I was working and he did not hold it against me so long as I was keeping my grades reasonably up. Top tier combo between the passion and understanding.
Very difficult to understand. Very tough grader. Reads directly off of the slideshow and reads directly from the textbook. Does not explain the problems. Do not take his class. Avoid at all costs. DOES NOT CURVE!!!!! You basically have to teach yourself. Quizzes are only a couple of questions so if you get one wrong you basically fail.
Lectures are difficult to understand, you REALLY need to take notes and teach yourself outside of class. He is a good person but not the best professor.
Very uninspiring professors does not seem like he puts much effort into his teaching. Many students end up teaching the content to themselves. He is a nice guy though and is a forgiving grader who does not grade harshly.
The professor's lectures are hard to follow, but using resources like unstuck ai and the free textbook can really help. Avoid skipping class and stay on top of the difficult exams.
Tests and quizzes are clear/short and he just tests on basic skills. Do the homework, come to class to avoid falling behind. He teaches directly from the textbook which can be easy to lose focus in class but some resources I used were youtube channels patrickjmt and organic chem tutor. He goes over the material on time and is mostly very present.
I have reached out to this professor on multiple different occasions for extra help during an online course and he was not attentive or responsive in any way shape or form! He is extremely lecture heavy and does not provide the work shown to complete problems, rather he just explains it and reads off the lecture its hard to understand the material.
Very boring lectures, he has a monotone voice and tends to over-explain, but as long as you learn the material, tests and quizzes are easy.
he is one of the best professors i have had at MSU. He is calm, gives great examples, quizzes are easy, grades work so fair grader. Sometimes his lectures can get a little boring but he doesn't rush through anything, if you push yourself to pay attention you will learn. I also took him for math 340, and it was the same thing
His lectures are pretty boring, but the tests and quizzes are not hard. If you pay attention and do the homework, you should be able to ace the class with a decent amount of effort. Honestly crazy how the way he speaks is so boring though.
Would gladly take this professor again. He gives ample time to submit assignments, grades generously, and explains extensively. Given that most of us are students with the inability to focus...yes, it can be hard to focus and it can be boring. Use the handouts and the homework for tests/quizzes, you will be fine.
The textbook is free. I feel like he's a really average professor. He pushes you a bit and his lectures are pretty standard. The quizzes are pretty easy. If you do the homework, the tests are easy too. His final exam included a question not meant to be on the exam and compensation was ten points to cover the loss. I think he curved my grade too.
It is a two hour class so lecture was very boring. I ended up learning most of the material out of class. He is very generous with grading. He post review sheets for every exam and that is helpful. If you understand the concepts mentioned in the review sheets, you can pass with an A.
