Great guy, made class real world applicable. Stories connected business world to text book. Would reccomend.
Talked more about U of M football than marketing. His powerpoints and everything he did were taken directly from the book so you didn't have two sources to get info from. Lectures also were rarely helpful and most of the time everyone in the class left having no clue what the take-a-ways should have been. Not a bad person just a not a good teacher.
Mark was enthusiastic and did the best he could with the material but it is boring and dry. Exams are extremely difficult and you dont learn much from lecture but he gives a lot of points overall and extra credit. Helpful to me but maybe only because I was a wolverine fan...
He is a very enthusiastic teacher, He gives you power points every week but READ the book. He will test you on the concepts in the book much more in depth that it is covered in class. If you pay attention you can do very well. Really helpful.
He reads straight from the book during lecture, tests are extremely difficult and over lots of material, also is a very tough grader on the group papers. Do NOT take his class.
The quizzes and tests can be tough because they are over alot of material, so it is important to actually read the book and take notes. His lectures can be long and a bit boring if you're not engaged in the subject. The semester-long group project is not all that bad as long as you don't procrastinate on it. Overall, the class was enjoyable.
Prof Kubic is the best professor I've ever had! If it weren't for his mentor ship and guidance...I probably wouldve taken a different path in life. I thoroughly appreciate his wisdom that he shares. Thank you Prof. Kubik!
Really enjoyed the class, he brought in real life experiences and speakers into the classroom. Also it is a very interactive class and overall he is a great guy! Would take again.
Overall this class was a whirlwind of an experience, to start the class it was very difficult and hard to grasp the knowledge. After a little while of everyone telling him that the class was too difficult he found ways to make the class more relatable. Prof Kubik is a nice guy, class gets easier IF YOU PUT IN THE EFFORT AND READ THE BOOK.
exams and tests are very hard over a lot of information. He lectures the printed out chapters and expects you to know all of the information in details. I would take a different professor because this was my hardest class this semester and it shouldn't have been. VERY TOUGH GRADER FOR GROUP PROJECT
Great Professor, very understanding guy, but gives hard tests over a lot of material.
Professor Kubik, has been my favorite professor since I began my college career. He makes the lectures fun by bring an interesting energetic spin to engage his audience. His great hair is just an added bonus! Thank you for making this semester fly by prof. Kubik
Professor Kubik is a nice guy and likes having fun and interacting with his students, but tests and quizzes are very difficult. I've never studied harder for a class, at the same time still not getting the grade I was hoping for. Said he didn't offer EC but ended up offering a good amount. Definitely have to work hard but overall an enjoyable class
Had him for previous courses and he is one of favorite by far! Went to get into his class this semester and it filled up insanely quick. Plus his hair is inspirational.
He's smart and the lectures aren't bad, but he doesn't do a good job of making the material relatable/realistic. Tests are tough and confusing and the material isn't always relevant to ethics but focuses on small insignificant details within the text. Picks his favorites within the class and continuously calls on them for class discussions.
Take this guy!!!
One of the best prof at GVSU! Would recommend to everyone. Whether you talk or not this class is for you! Real world examples and great guest speakers. Great contact to have in life. Take any class with Kubik.
Awesome guy! Not too tough and he's really there for you if you have any questions
I wish he taught more classes! Great guy and his lectures are funny and entertaining! I learned a lot! Take him!
Letters are good, very helpful and usually avalible, exams are fair and the material is presented clearly. Highly Recommended!
AVOID! Be prepared to know every detail from the book for the tests, which is funny since his lectures consist solely of him reading his chapter outlines to us. It's very clear that he doesn't know the material, but he expects you to memorize it all for exams. One group project at the end of the semester which is really basic. Nice outside of class
Cool guy. We usually lecture in class but he has shown a few movies and had a guest speaker. His test aren't that hard because they are over the chapter material. As long as you take notes you will be fine!
Nice guy, awful professor. He lectures straight from the book with no power points or visual aids. Makes attending class seem pointless. Tests are incredibly hard; T/F and multiple choice. Group projects have almost no guidelines. Didn't feel like I learned anything, just extremely frustrating.
Professor Kubik is one of my all time favorite professors and I would recommend him to anyone. He doesn't lecture straight off a powerpoint, which is nice, and the tests are on material that is covered in class. Beyond class, go to his office and get to know him, he is a great and caring guy. I also second that his hair is inspirational.
Mark is a wonderful professor. I love the fact that he lectures from his own personal notes instead of following a PowerPoint like every other professor. He is funny and uses real life examples to explain subject matter! Take Mark!!
Professor Kubik does an incredible job at presenting the material in a unique and intriguing way. He knows what he is talking about during lectures, and is a very fair professor when it comes to exams and the group presentation. Beyond all of that, he is a caring professor and always wears exceptional suits.
Really great guy brings in great guest speakers and talks with real world experience. Even got an internship interview from one of his colleagues.
Very charismatic and knowledgable in the business world. Likes to engage with students by name and play off of their responses to relate course materials.
Kubik is an awesome professor. He is a funny guy and knows his stuff! He is always there for you if you need some one on one tutoring and he really helps you out. I would recommend him any day
Great professor! Would highly recommend to others and is a professor that will be there for you when you need it. Uses a lot of the book so if you read it, the class will go smoothly
Tests are somewhat challenging. He tells you exactly what to read, but make sure to really memorize small details within those readings. Great professor just make sure you REALLY KNOW AND UNDERSTAND the material.
Great suits, great hair cut, and has a great grip over the material. His ways are a little unconventional, but that is what sets him apart. He is very friendly and accommodating. The exams can be a little challenging, so make sure you understand the lecture and read the material. Overall a good experience, would totally recommend him.
Professor Kubik is awesome. I really enjoyed his class and walked away being able to say I learned a lot. If you make an effort to talk to him and get to know him, he is great. Very personable and fun to talk to. Highly recommend to all marketing majors.
You would think an ethics class is easy (I did at least), but it is harder than you think. Make sure you read and go to class. He is a good professor, but makes you work for it. I would take him again.
Mark is a great guy and also a great professor. This is not including his great hair and suits... He is really there for his students when you need the help, which is always great in a prof. His tests can be challenging so study for them a decent amount. Beyond that, the workload is minimal and he even has in guest speakers who make great connections.
Professor Kubik is a cool guy, but not necessarily the best professor. He gives you a lot of opportunity to succeed such as extra credit. However he lectures straight from the book, reads it word for word sometimes, making lectures dull. Tests are unnecessarily difficult for a seemingly easy class.
Cool guy, great prof. Would take again.
Mark is the man! One of the few professors at gvsu who actually cares about his students. Tests are more than reasonable if you pay attention in class and participate. Great class. Highly recommend. Absolute beauty!!!!!
Great guy, class act, and a legend in Seidman. My favorite class by far. He dresses professional and sets a great example of how to be an entrepreneur and a baller. Freshest line up at GV.
Prof. Kubik is a subpar professor, at best. Having received A's in both my capstones, you would assume that ethics would be an easy A. Wrong. Group projects and participation are easy to receive full credit, but exams are nearly impossible. Asks you the most minute details that are irrelevant and unnecessary to understanding the case.
Professor Kubik is a great professor and an even better guy. He goes out of his way to make connections with students and truly values getting to know his students. He is extremely professional and is good role model for how a marketer should dress and act. Tests can be challenging, but are straightforward. Ask for help and it will be given.
Professor Kubik means well but awful professor. Does not give any sense of direction on projects. Seems to me the projects we completed, only were to benefit the organizations he is apart of. The exams were ridiculous, had no idea what to even study. He just speaks from his notes and does not offer an outline or powerpoint to follow with.
Overall, Kubik was a decent professor. He gave two fairly easy papers (one individual and one group), which he graded very graciously. The exams are decently hard. He has a bit of a cocky attitude but it was a pretty easy course, considering it is a 400 level.
Professor Kubik has been one of my favorite professors at GVSU. He brings industry experience to the classroom that few other professors do. He not only teaches pertinent material, but has you read and discuss case studies that prepare you for the real world. Mark is willing to help outside of class and truly cares about his students' success.
Great professor, keeps class interesting, fair HW and exams, lectures are entertaining, explains concepts well
Mark is a great teacher. He really cares about the class and gets everyone involved with lectures and group projects. His grading promotes speaking in class and presentations which is very helpful for post-graduation. Will be taking him again next semester.
One of the best professor and teachers I have ever had. No one cares more about their students than Kubik. His dedication to students and going the extra mile to get them involved in student organizations is incredible. If you want to learn from a respected professor, who teaches real world concepts take Mark Kubik. Ask anyone in PSA at GVSU.
Honestly the most disappointing professor I have ever had at GV.
everything about the class is easy except for the texts. 20 T/F and 20 multiple choice. can have a lot of questions on guest speakers and in class videos, so show up on those days. the T/F is hard cause they could either way. really down to earth guy, easy to get along with.
By far the best professor I've had at GV. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. The class was very interactive and conversational. Tests aren't very hard but you still need to know the material. If you want to actually learn something, you should definitely take his class! I would take him again!
*Actually BUS 380-05*Prof. Kubik is one of the best teachers I've had. I've been to MSU and GVSU and his teaching style is refreshing, to say the least. It's easy to sit in class because he makes the class an interactive session. His background as president of a company in NY and as a stockbroker really back up what he has to say in class.
Definitely one of the best classes I've ever taken at GVSU. You build a personal marketing strategy for yourself on how to get a job before you graduate.
He is the best professor at GVSU. If you are looking for a young, fun to talk with, freshest like at GVSU, he is the professor to take. He is the Head Faculty Advisor for the Professional sales Association. He brings in real world experience with sales, and marketing. He is in pursuit of his Doctorate currently. He has taught me more than ever.
Professor Kubik is a great guy but really lacks as a professor. He is unorganized with instructions/deadlines. What he said in class consistently contradicted what was posted on BB. Exams are difficult because of the formatting despite the material being very simple. He reads straight from the PP for lectures. I would avoid this class if possible.
Great guy, but super unorganized. My group and I had a blackboard malfunction with an assignment and it has been 3 weeks and we still haven't gotten a grade for it. Easy class just study for the exams and don't expect A's on them, but you can get an A in the class
I wanted to like Mark so bad, but I honestly couldn't. He was very unorganized with everything! We wouldn't know where to find readings or turn projects in. The exams are hard and are not really over anything from the lecture. With half T/F it was very difficult to distinguish what was true or false, making you to walk out of them going "huh?"
Best professor at GV. His lectures are a little boring & long at times but if you have him for a 6-9 you get out at 7-7:30. He brings in real world experience. He knows what he is talking about and will go above and beyond. 3 tests. Got a 62 and a 69 and finished with a B+ in the class. Easy class
Mark cares about the well-being and success of his students. If you just show up to class you wont get to know him. If you go to his office hours, he will go out of his way to help you in anyway possible. I know he has helped many others get jobs after graduation. The class is out of 500 points, three tests only make up 50% of your grade. Easy!
Mark is highly respected in the world of Sales! He has written his own textbook and he knows what hes talking about. in class he wants to give real world sales experience as well as role-plays, group projects to simulate projects when you are a sale manager! It gave me great experience before I graduated into sales.
Great information is taught during class especially during his lectures, they are a little long at times but it is good. He usually lets his classes out early and wants to help them get involved in extracurricular activities. He is also really funny and is one of the funniest professors at grand Valley if you want to good laugh take Mark
Mark has long lectures but he breaks them up with jokes really funny guy! He tries to bring in sales experience. The tests arent too bad as they only make up for 50% of your total grade the other 50% is all stuff that you will automatically get. In order to do well on the test you just have to read the book. Sweet and simple!
Great guy, lectures are a little boring at times but it really helps when he cracks jokes and talks about the students and brings their experiences into the classroom so everybody can learn together. In order to do well on the test you have to read the book to get the depth of knowledge as he called it
Mark is the best. The best part about his classes are in group projects if someone isnt doing the work you can kick them out of the group project, it makes for a great way to make sure everybody gets their stuff done. Overall the class is Easy A if you read the book before a test to get the depth of knowledge
nobody knows more about marketing ethics than Mark. He has been in the business world in and seen a lot of shady things and he will help you continue to stay ethical in marketing! He knows what to look out for and what people do to get ahead in life and he will make sure you will succeed.
if Im going to be honest Mark is the absolute best professor you will ever have. His lectures may be a little long but if you go to his office hours he will go above and beyond to help you out. He is a real bro. He will even offer to buy you lunch at a exclusive club in Grand Rapids where you can network with him and learn about sales in life
He loves to help our students plain and simple it may not appear at from his lectures but he wants to focus on helping you every single day inside or outside of class. He also gives extra credit. The class overall is great and easy as you learn real world sales management experience as he teaches it from a sales training class room setting
Basic and good ethical class! Go to class and you will pass, mandatory attendance is not a thing except on the final presentations. His test can be a little tough if you dont read the book you have to read in order to understand rather than just looking at the PowerPoint slides
Easy entry level marketing class. If youre a marketing major you want to take him and if you want to go into sales you want to take him, plain and simple. He is the teacher you want to be with. Read the book and you will pass the test
Great class I wish I took it before my last semester. Brought real world experience to class, had guest speakers and taught how to get a job and negotiate a salary.
Good class but will call you out if your texting. Overall good real world discussions and did a project for a non profit that was pretty cool.
He taught us how to negotiate a salary while bringing in guest speakers and helping us grow ourselves professionally. 1000% recommends.
Mark is a great dude. Very knowledgable on the content he is teaching. Promotes self development. For exams you should study the chapter slides and book to have success. Very easy to access outside of class.
Professor Kubik is amazing. His lectures were engaging and most of the class consumed of a project that I felt was more hands on and helped us understand marketing in real world scenarios. If you have the chance, take him! Youll learn a lot.
Professor Kubik is a really cool guy with a lot of real-world experience. He emphasizes professionalism and gives good advice for entering the job market and selling yourself. His doesn't always communicate expectations for assignments very well. Exams seemed easy but it was impossible to get above a B (& I'm a straight A student). Used book once.
Professor Kubik is awesome! I leaned so much and his lectures were so engaging. I would recommend his course to anyone, especially if you are interested in sales!
IF YOU ARE A SEIDMAN STUDENT YOU NEED TO TAKE BUS 380 marketing yourself with Mark Kubik. It is an easy A but you will learn the necessary skills to be successful in business and life. He has so much real world experience and is great at presenting himself and you will learn so much.
Professor Kubik is a really great professor. If you listen in class and read the book, exams should be pretty straightforward. Overall, he has a lot of real-world experience and I learned a lot in his class despite it being online half the time.
All time favorite professor, this semester was my second time taking him. He really cares about his students and is passionate about what he is teaching. He did a really good job with the hybrid class model and was willing to work with us to make sure it was working out. Overall great guy.
BUS 380 is an important class that teaches you how to be effective at interviews. I view this class very important, and it counts towards a business elective too! Take Mark Kubik whenever you can! He is my favorite professor at GVSU. He's a very down to earth guy that is understanding, and loves to help out his students. Also, he's easy to contact
This was my favorite class at GV. I am not exaggerating. Mark is enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches. Coursework is actually USEFUL and interesting. If you ever find yourself nodding off in classes, this will not be you in Mark's class. I would recommend this class and Mark to anyone who goes to business school. Take this class!
If you want a professor that is going to teach you about the real world... Professor Kubik is your guy! He is great. Kubik really wants the best for his students and prepares you for real life. His exams are open book, and his assignments are manageable. Great professor. I recommend.
If you're looking for a professor that has a massive amount of experience in the business world and is readily available to help you prepare for your future, take a class with Professor Kubik. If you show up and are actively participating in his class, there is no reason that you should not be successful. Plus, the homework load is not too heavy.
Gave me the confidence to act accordingly in real world experiences. Changed my life. Love you big Kubik!
The exams had extremely short time limits for 100 questions, he didn't show up to class for two weeks without telling anyone and he would not answer emails or any communication outside of class. There are a lot of guest speakers that come in but this takes away time from learning the material that we got tested on.
Such an amazing course and teacher! The exams were 100 questions in 60 minutes which could be stressful but if you studied you will do well and you could use notes. He offers so many opportunities for his students to succeed and provides real-world sales experience in this course. Mark is amazing and would recommend him to everyone!
Great prof. Exams are on connect and not proctored. Very easy homework with a real life selling experience project where you sell gift cards and have to reach a $250 quota. The guest speakers and the project are the big takeaways from class. Loved him, taking him next year as well
Fantastic prof. Really pay attention to the sales management project as most takeaways will be found there. Semester kinda drags after the project is done but the discussion portion of the class after the project is over is extremely profitable. be sure to ask any professional questions as Dr Kubik is a great mind.
Professor Kubik is very straightforward and to the point on all his assignments. Not homework heavy, but be ready to have a conversation in class. It is an open conversation throughout his classes. Who ever said Kubik seems like a con artist I have no clue where you are getting that from... Very nice and respected professor!! TAKE HIM
Dr. Kubik truly cares about his students and is willing to do whatever it takes to see his students grow. I would 100% recommend him to any students looking to learn and build meaningful connections in the business world. Thankful to have him as a connection as an a school alumni.
Loved this class! Super helpful class to take in your last year/last semester. Mark will help you with job searching, resume, etc. Work was very easy, connects due once a week, and connect exams. One group prject and a sales competition, but it is all very doable and he helps a ton!
I strongly recommend you don't take a class by this professor
Definitely a nice guy. Final project was not talked about enough, and didn't give clear expectations for it. Somehow wound up with a B+ in the class because outside of the final project, it's just a lot of busy work and three exams. Super easy outside of the final project.
I wish there were more professors that taught sales. He didn't follow the syllabus and had his favorites for sure. He would only focus on certain students in class. As a senior I will say he is definitely one of the worst professors I've had at GV.
Dr. Kubik was a great professor. If you want to grow as a person, specifically a sales professional. Take this class. Interesting to read the other comments. Dr. Kubik doesn't even teach MKT 350.
Dr. Kubik is the best. Allows students to call him on a first name basis. Truly the best most helpful professor for finding full time and internships. He always has companies coming into speak helping students build their professional network. His discussions are the best always open style class room which makes all students comfortable. Take him!
Best sales professor! Always helping students out with professional life advice post college. Open discussion all class with many employers coming into speak. He is the best.
Professor Kubik's class is a gem - real-world sales experience, helpful job prep, and straightforward assignments. Unstuck study made studying a breeze. Recommend taking this class!
Dr. Kubik is by far the best professor I've had at GVSU. He truly cares about his students and wants us to succeed after college. The class had 4 roleplays and lectures that were actually useful and focused on real-life stuff. It helped me more than any other class and even led to an internship. Great professor and an even better person.
Better not miss one class you might get a 0/40 for engagement at the end of the semester!
