very easy, talk to him in class and after and he'll love you. Made an A highest ave. in class and never even bought the book. He's awesome and class is more helpful because he makes you think. Good class to take if you like personal approach to learning rather than a text book.

Dr. Kunkel is an amazing human being. He is both humble and soulful. He confronts tragedy and respecting its awesomeness, still manages to persist in helping, despite the sense of futility that this awesomeness would normally elicit. In his ability to remain hopeful in his practice of psychology, he serves as a true source of wisdom.

Kunkel is interesting. No pre-written notes. Treats students like normal human beings, not like we're a bunch of retards, I like that. Interesting stories. No real attendence policy, but a fun class to go to if you're not hungry. The only thing I dont like is the time, I get hungry.

This class is very interesting. If you don't like going to class then this isn't the class for you because almost the entire test is what we've done in class, movies we've watched, ect. Kunkel's what you'd expect for a psyc. teacher, he's pretty weird and very liberal.

This was a wonderful and interesting class! Dr. Kunkel is a great person who is kind and smart, and easy to talk to. You do need to study/pay attention to do well, but it's almost impossible to fail. If you are interested in Psychology or life in general this is definitely the class for you. I learned SO much taking this class. I'm a new person :)

Dr. Kunkel is an awesome teacher. His teaching style can be kind of confusing at first, but it all ends up making a lot of sense. If you just go to class, you'll do fine. I can apply everything he taught me to my everyday life, and the stuff I learned will stick with me forever. The best professor I've had so far by far.

If you are a psyc major: TAKE DR. KUNKEL! He's a great wealth of knowlegde. He can be a little cyptic, but you will learn so much. I'm going to take any course he teaches, but I love psychology. It is a hard class, but you'll pass.

UWG is very blessed to have a professor of this caliber! He should be teaching at Harvard or Yale. He includes many in-class activities and questions about video clips on his tests, so it is essential to attend class to make a good grade. His test questions can be a little unclear, but he is more than willing to help you out if you ask him a question. Overall, I think he is great!

Very brilliant. i made a C b/c i did not get my lazy ass out of bed for 8am class. if i would have gone would have gotten an B at least. 3 exams 100pts each, 50pts participation (cards), journals 150pts, paper 50pts...i learned a lot even with getting a C. i only wish i went to class more i could have learned so much more. he sings 2 the class.

Attendance is necessary through writing questions every class period. Tests combine a variety of techniques (matching, T/F, essay, and multiple choice). Tests are sometimes difficult, read the book to help clarify the main concepts explained during class. Good Luck!

He's great, really gave me a passion for psychology. You might have trouble if you don't want to think deeply and actually put in effort to his work. If you do, you get A LOT out of it. Pay attention and take your own notes and don't miss class!

He is an AMAZING teacher! he loves what he does and it shows. He makes you really look at things differntly. His tests are easy of you PAY ATTENTION b/c some of his questions can seem off the wall but if you listen to him they will make sense.

I graduated from UWG in 2003 but this was one of my most memorable class experiences. It was so interesting that I considered changing my major to Psych...but that would have been stOOOOpid since I was so close to graduating. Good class, good guy. He kind of strikes me as a wacky mad scientist though.

Wow, I can't believe people thought he was hard. I had him last semester, and he was down-to-earth, inspiring, and very helpful. He loves saying saying things in metaphors, which really gets you to think. Overall, he was amazing. I came out of his class with an A and with a new insight on other people. He can teach you if you're open to LEARNING.

One of the best professors I have taken. His classes are a process and entertaining to say the least. Those who criticize his classes usually are those who are used to having bulleted lists and definitions from the textbook presented, which is not his style. His style is to stimulate thought and curiosity. A very rare experience.

i believe he is one of the best teachers i've had to date. i believe nonpsych majors should definitely take the class. it's something we're not exposed to often unlike math and history. i'm a psych major, and this class just made me realize how much i love it. his teaching style is exactly how i would teach if i were a teacher..amazing guy.

Do not take this class if you are not willing to work (unless you just really like pscyhology; then you might want to take it because it's different). Kunkel is a really nice guy but he has more of an abstract way of teaching. He does offer extra credit points though. You need to go to class or you will have no clue what the notes mean.

I loved this prof. He has an odd style of teaching so I would not recommend taking him for Intro Psych... but if you're really interested in Psych, his abnormal class is AMAZING. no mandatory attendance, but does ex. credit stuff as far as turning in notecards @ the beginning of each class. he can be slightly unclear but will go over anything again

Belongs on any Psych major's list of Professors you MUST take while at UWG. If you are interested in going into therapy related fields, you owe it to yourself to take courses with him. Extremely engaging and very dedicated to his students - you will get A LOT out of his class, way beyond the "textbook."

he is one of the greatest teachers i have ever had. i don't know what the other ratings were saying about not understanding him and not being helpful. if you ask, he will do EVERYTHING in his power to help you. he is always there for his students. i recommend him for all of my friends. but he is more difficult for non-psych majors

If psychology is your thing then Kunkel is perfect. Some find him hard to follow, because he encourages students to think in new ways that they may not be comfortable with, but even if you are one of these people it's not too hard to get an A, and his class is what really got me into psychology... couldn't have asked for a better professor.

He's a really interesting teacher. He does a lot of nonconventional things that make the class fun and exciting. You definitely CANNOT miss class, as he says A LOT of important things then that wont be on the notes.

Brother Mark was definitely a fun teacher. He always managed to make the lessons fun. He typed up the notes for you and posted them online, and only used the book about 10-20% of the test. He did make us keep a journal but that was fun too. The more you are involved in his class the better grade you will get. ALWAYS do the extra credit to get an A!

Brother Mark is the best teacher ever. You do not need the book, as the test is only 10% of it. He types the notes as he teaches & is posted on courseden. Tests are tricky though, but go to discussion groups (WORTH 50 EXTRA CREDIT) OR 16 points on each test. He gives anywhere from 7 to 8 points on each test. TAKE HIM! NOT RECOMMENDED TO THE LAZY!

I took him my first semester of college and even though i didn't really do well on his tests, i still made a B. He's extremely nice and helpful if you actually go to class and make an effort. Very Interesting Professor! Many ways to earn alot of points so the test arent that bad. teaches with experiments and interesting videos so its not boring at all !

This class was my only 8am all semester but it was also a class i NEVER wanted to miss. Everyday his lesson gave me an awesome clarity of mind and body and every word he spoke was an amazing gift. I plan to sit in on this same class next semester to keep gaining enlightenment and inspiration from this amazing man

The only folks who do poorly in his classes are those who do not read the texts, rarely show up for class or do not pay attention during classes. He explains very clearly how he approaches teaching and why he does so. He does not hand out grades - he respects students enough to make them earn their grades.

Dr. Kunkel is a very eccentric professor. He was very interesting. His tests are based off you paying attention in class and listening to him. Make sure you look at the online notes and pay attention to the things that he is talking about. Having a textbook is not necessary because text is only 10 percent of his tests.

Dr. Kunkel is a wonderful Psych professor. The only way to fail his class is if you don't listen to the lectures and don't study. Most of the time attendance isn't mandatory. He will answer any question you have and is very helpful. Pay attention to lectures as they are the key to passing his tests. Great professor, I highly recommend him.

Definitely a very interesting character with unique ways. Including his teaching style. It's like no other. He's not easy to follow and his 100 question tests are quite difficult. You must pay close attention, understand, go to discussion groups, and look at online notes avidly to even hope to have a chance of passing the tests.

I attending class and reading daily notes posted online, because he doesn't administer your "average" exam. Brother Mark is one of the most unique professors I've had. His teaching style is very symbolic and metaphorical - he likes to use comparisons instead of definitions. He emphasizes inclusivity and is quite insightful. And very gentle and cares about what he does. But prepare to do a LOT of studying!

Kunkel is caring and willing to explain instructions, but his class isn't for everyone. He speaks in metaphors and mnemonics that you HAVE to remember. So show up to class. The class discussions WILL be on exams. The textbook HE WROTE will be used A LOT. He grades participation and gives extra credit, which is nice. But it is unconventional.

Dr. Kunkel cares about your journey in life and through the class. He is an outstanding professor and takes the time to get to know you as a person as well as a student. He is accompanied by mentors to help lead group discussions and fully implement our learning. If you want to take a psychology class, I would take Brother Mark again anytime.

If you actually want to find out how fundamental and in-depth psychology can help in becoming a compassionate psychologist or an understanding of your own psyche take any of his classes.
