his maddd borring but kind of easy though ... kind of weird 2 but some of his lectures could be interesting if u dont fall asleep (i doubt ull stay awake..hehe)...good luck
He is soooo boring. I feel bad for anyone who has to go through his lectures. I guarntee you will fall asleep like every class. He gives two papers and two tests for the semister. He gives you almost all of the qustions for the tests like a week before.

extremely boring...i gurantee u will fall asleep at least one class...but tests are easy...gives u all the questions ahead of time...no hw...no attendance...is an easy grader on papers...boring but easy A
this guy is mawwwd boring. he talks and talks and talks. i bet my life you will fall asleep in this class juss once. and he is always wearing the same baseball cap to class to cover his hair.

HE is the worst teacher ever! I learned more when I wrote one of first paper compared to the first 5 weeks of school. His lectures are boring, and he doesnt modify the material so you can understand. He talks just to hear his own voice.
at first i thought i was gonna go crazy in this class because of how complicated the material seems. his voice doesnt help so much either, considering he sounds sooo boring. But if you read the material on your own it shouldnt be that hard...
You can bet that u will be counting the minutes to get out of the class. He is boring as hell and after a while the baseball cap starts to bother u. But he does give the questions that will be on the test ahead of time and no hw. He wont allow u to use ur lp so u gotta find something to keep u awake
really boring but easy
His class is ridiculous. it is ridiculously easy and ridiculously boring. the tests and papers are so easy, since he thinks anything is extraordinarily original and he will tell you what exactly is on the tests
Very boring, but he loves teaching. The class was very easy, one paper, a presentation and final. Didn't learn anything but got an A! Doesn't take attendance
hahaha thats all u can really say, the only thing i remember about this class was when two girls sitting next to me were drawing pictures of him. Only went to class seriously 4 times and the final was only on the last two classes of the year passed with a B-
ok so, the hat really starts to bother you after a while. The class is really boring, he doesnt really care about attendance. The papers are time consuming but he's not a bad grader. He's very anal about his footnotes. Just do what ur asked and you'll get a good grade.
Boring. Sleeping. Skipped. Yes to all. But I still got a B+ Yes he wears cap all the time. But he is respectful and cares for the subject matter. No attendence required. Skipped many many many many times and stilled scored a B+ Material is good, just try and stick with it. It is a requirement.
Nice guy, even if he was really boring to listen to. He gives the exam questions ahead of time, gave two papers and a presentation. I didn't go to too many classes, he doesn't care for attendance.
Philosophy itself is inherently a boring subject but Mr. Lekarew does a good job by trying to make class discussions engaging. The key to passing is doing an exceptional job with the term papers by expressing your points with a strong conviction. exam ques. are given before the exams, and thre is no attendance policy. grading overall seems lax.
LOL, I got an A in his course. I only went to class the day before exams, and to hand in papers. The final paper is worth 40% of your final grade, so choose a topic wisely, pose an argument in your essays, and defend this argument. If he's impressed by your work, he'll give you an A like he gave me.
I felt terrible for Lekarew. No one comes to class bc he doesnt take attendance. Those who do come to class just mess around and ignore him. I wish he would stand up for himself bc he really knows his stuff, he is just nervous. he has a real hard time explaining difficult concepts which is ALL of metaphysics. an easy A though, and a nice guy.
HONESTLY, HE IS A GOOD MAN. I FIGURED I WOULD FAIL AND IM DOING AWSOME. IF YOU TAKE HIS NOTES, YOU'RE FINE. ALL QUESTIONS ARE GIVEN BEFORE EXAMS. I REALLY ENJOYED HIM A LOT. TAKE HIM. TTRRUUSSTT ME!!!!
Very boring! I was hoping for an interesting Phil professor because I enjoy Phil. but he bored me to death! He tells you most of the exam questions from before, 2 papers and a group presentation is required. If you do well on the papers then this class can be an easy a.
nice prof, helpful if u need help, not many assignments, just two papers, a midterm, a final, and a group presentation. I love philosophy but classes got very boring at times, and he does tend to rant. He tells u what will be on the midterm and final and paper topics are yours to choose based on readings from the class
He keeps going and going and going; I have no idea how any human being can talk on and on for the full class session! Knows his stuff very well, but not engaging enough; he'll be a bore and put you to sleep faster than Ambien. He always wears a baseball cap and never takes it off.
he is extremely boring i love philosophy so i wanted a good teacher but he honestly just talks to himself doesnt care if you know the topics and the language he uses is too much i mean its such a hard topic USE LAMES TERMS .. he doesnt give a lot of work just two papers and two test which is great
He is a little of a bore. Textbooks are cheap. 8 bucks. Test are easy, papers easy. Staying awake in class is hard.
Lekarew is a great teacher. It is true that he can be a little boring, but as long as you attempt to participate in class and he sees that you are putting effort into you will get an A (of course a 100 on a test doesn't harm you). Needless to say, I did get an A, but it was well deserved. Just give it your best, and he wont screw you over. TAKE HIM
interesting at times, boring at others, tries to get ppl to participate, other times just talks jargon. Fairly easy class, just study and pay attention. Not very challenging or interesting class but its not bad either, its worth taking. Nice guy too
This guy is the worst - attendance not mandatory and the assignments aren't bad but he just babbles on for an hour and a half while nobody listens...also, whenever a student asks a question, or presents a project, he thwarts the whole thing by interrupting and going on his own little rants. Asks students questions, and doesn't allow them to answer
The worst professor in the department - always cuts students off, never allows them to speak...also very unfair. Definitely plays favorites.
Pretty ok professor. He talks 97% of the class time and will often look onto the class to answer some of his questions. Please answer them! The class will be much less boring if you guys speak up. Yes he does have slight favorites, how could you not when only 3 people speak up regularly. Overall Easy A and he cancels sometimes for his religion
This guy is a horrible experience. He claims he wants your opinion but he just cuts you off and rants about random subjects. His tests are pretty easy but thats the only positive. If you value your learning, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
asks for opinions only to argue against them. can't give a presentation without him cutting you off and saying everything that you have yet to say.
hes a boring professor i'll give you that. but voice your opinion and try to pay attention. even though you're wrong he'll appreciate your efforts for trying to answer. he talks like 98 percent of the time.
omg this he is the most boring professor ever. he puts me to sleep every time i have his class and plus i dont understand what he teaches its like everything is a big question. he doesnt explain things in an easy way to understand. Plus he talks nonstop. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!
Run like hell unless your really, really good with philosophy. You also need no know what kind of answers he wants or he takes points off.
As long as you pay attention, read the texts and attempt to participate you will come out with a decent grade. Yea, he may be boring, but as long as you put some effort in he is fair. Not the greatest professor, but not bad either. Grade consisted of two papers, two tests which he gives the questions beforehand, group presentation& participation.
This guy is really into philosophy. He's very condescending and tends to asks you questions just to respond with a rebuttal! He drifts off into his own philosophical realm, VERY BORING and no one ever paid attention. I just sat on my laptop the whole time and surfed the web. Avoid if possible. LOTS of reading, not much to learn in his class.
He is not an easy professor. Write two essays, one presentation, and a final. Not so bad if you are good with philosophy. I didn't need to do the readings, but most people needed to because they didn't find him to be clear. He will help if you go to his office hours.
I have no idea what he was talking about half of the time; he really loves philosophy. He can also be condescending if you're not on his level. But one on one he's a very understanding guy and you can personally ask him to explain certain topics you don't understand.
Boring but easy. He really loves philosophy but does't make any sense when he speaks.
He is the most condescending professor I have ever had. He talks down to you after he asks you questions. If you do not have the same opinion as him on a topic, he will make you look very dumb and use big words to "over power" you. WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!
He's very smart and critical. Two papers, one midterm and final. He's a tough grader (sloppy writer be aware). Do go to his office hour if you had any problems, very helpful! Work hard for an A, but really learn stuffs from his class.
Philosophy is a hard enough subject as it is but he is condescending and gives a lot of reading. In lecture he always says he wants your opinion but then he tells you you're wrong every time. He plays favorites, all I do is go on the computer and zone out. Not worth the effort he doesn't seem to notice if you try or not.
After the first couple of weeks he stops noticing if you even show up, canceled class a number of times, but that's cool. Assigns a lot of reading material but you can get away with not doing all of them since he tells you which ones are going to be on the test
the class is simple, grade consists of 2 exams, 2 papers, and a group presentation. however it's like a debate class, esp the papers and presentation, and the professor likes to lecture for a majority of the class and then attempt to "debate" and "argue" with the class. he seems condescending but it's his way of showing the opposing view.
WARNING: BRING YOUR LAPTOP TO CLASS SO YOU DONT FALL ASLEEP DURING LECTURES. His class is HORRIBLY boring. Staying awake in itself is a struggle. He's kind of pretentious and classes are confusing. He's really strict on his papers but is SO UNCLEAR as to what the topic is. Be careful for that. People had to do rewrites bc he never explained it.
Do not take this class unless you are really, really, really good at Philosophy and are interested in it or you will understand nothing and fall asleep.
Prof. Lekarew is exactly what you picture when it comes to a Philosophy teacher. He speaks all class, challenges you to think and implores you to challenge his points. His tests are very straightforward and he tells you exactly what to study. Two papers, not hard. Participation can boost your grade up a full letter grade. Good teacher, if you care.
I was looking forward to taking a philosophy class but Professor Lekarew completely ruined that. He is condescending, unclear, rude, and doesn't take the time to learn the name of students, regardless of how much you participate. I have A's in all of my classes except his, and it's not like I don't try. This class sucks
Expect to sit in class and have him talk the entire time. He's very unclear of what he expects of you especially in the papers and one presentation that you do. Its after the fact that he suggest what you should've done and what he wanted. He's very condescending. The class consists of 2 papers, the midterm and the final.
Super boring, talks in circles and super unclear. One midterm test and paper, finals and final paper and group project. Would have dropped the class if it was't mandatory.
I heard all the philosophy teachers here suck. This class wasn't so bad and it wasn't very overwhelming but it is going to be really boring especially if you don't care for philosophy. Philosophers love to argue so expect him to interrupt you or tell you you're wrong.
I took him because he was the only class left. His lectures are long and extremely boring. I stopped going to his class for a while, along with a majority of my class, and he never noticed. His tests are short answer based off theories, and he assigns a final group project.
Very condescending. He makes you feel stupid if you try. His lectures are very boring.
Lectures are boring but he doesn't try to kill your GPA on purpose. A little condescending but definitely tries to really make you actually learn something. Hated him at first but grades fairly easily so would take again. Tests are short answer but graded easily, two papers which were graded a little hard and a group project that was super easy.
Philosophy itself challenges you to think outside the box and explain into further detail. Lecture is pretty heavy, but try to pay attention and take notes. If you don't show up while groups are presenting their topics, you might find the final exam pretty difficult. Prof. doesn't clarify what he expects from papers.(*he expects footnotes*)
He assigns two papers, one test, and a final. You have to pay attention to what he says during class in order to be able to write what he wants for the papers and the tests. This class is challenging but, his style of teaching makes it a lot harder to understand. If you have questions it is better to ask him after class than email him.
The class is extremely boring and he has the tendency to talk in circles. If you show up to class and take notes (which is harder than it sounds) you'll be fine. He's a tough grader and is very unclear in what he expects for papers, but the exams are pretty easy if you know what you're talking about. Overall, its not so bad if you put the effort in
This professor has to be one of the worst professors Ive had at Saint Johns so far. Philosophy itself is hard and he makes it 1000 times harder to understand. There are 2 exams, 2 papers (5 pg and 6pg). He isn't clear on what he expects for his papers GRADES HARSH and is condescending. Stops you mid sentence and tells you how stupid you are. AVOID.
If you put in the effort, attend class and actively take notes in this class everything else will come easy. The tests and essays are word for word what he says in the lectures, the second half of the semester is based all on presentations given by the students, take notes and the final will be easy.
If you show up, do the readings, and participate you will be fine. He has 2 essays and 2 tests. He literally tells you what to study so his tests are easy.
I felt like there was a lot of reading, but other than that there were only 2 papers, 2 exams, and a presentation. For the exams he tells you exactly whats on it. He also tells you what he's looking for in the papers. Participation can boost your grade. He's pretty much the definition of a philosophy teacher tho. kinda crazy and all over the place
He can be intimidating but really wants you to think. 2 papers he grades pretty harsh but midterm and final are super easy because he tells you what's gonna be on it.
He gives 2 papers and a midterm and final. He is a little harsh with what he wants but he is honestly not even bad. Take him if you can, he really makes you think and if you put in work his class is good.
Take Lekarew if you can. Most philosophy classes are the same in which monologues from professor but at least Lekarew grades easily. A few exams in which he tells you EXACTLY whats on it and 2 papers (do it good cause he actually examines it). Group presentations in middle of semester. Try to do the readings so you get a feel of whats going on.
Kind of disorganized and his grading criteria is not the best. Too open ended when it comes to essay topics.
Lekarew is a good teacher if you are engaged and pay attention. If you show interest in the curriculum then he will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. But if you never participate or show up unprepared then you will probably be on his bad side .
I took this professor during the Spring 2020 semester, and when we switched to online classes, he was almost nonexistent. He put up discussion posts with no warning on when they were do or even a due date, and was almost impossible to reach by email. He is someone who couldn't adapt to the new class style, and I would not recommend him.
I had professor Lekarew for Spring 2020. Before the switch online, he was mediocre. 2 tests, 2 papers, and a final. The work was what you'd expect from a philosophy class. However, he was not able to adapt to online learning. He was VERY hard to contact, and he would often ignore emails. Avoid him, especially if you take him as an online class.
Hes a horrible teacher!!!Do not take him. His lectures do not make sense and neither does his grading. Will mark you absent if you leave the room. Hard to contact.
Will not respond to any emails no matter how many times you email him, which is problematic seeing as this is an online class. He talks during class all day, which isn't even relevant considering you're graded on two tests (which are also papers) and two papers. His grading is random and doesn't have any rhyme or reason. DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!
Do not take him. Hes very rude
This has been the worst online class I've ever taken. I took his asynchronous class, unlike my other asynchronous classes I haven't learned a single thing. The amount of writing this class requires is ridiculous. On top of all the writing, he's a tough grader! Do not recommend.
Prof Lekarew is one of those professors you either like or dont. I actually liked him a lot as a teacher and learned quite a bit from him, but hes not for everyone. If you participate, do the readings thoroughly then you will get quite a bit from the class. If your expecting an easy going class for an Easy A then I dont recommend.
I had prof. Lekarew asynchronously and I managed to get an A. Read a chapter every week; discussion board answering questions; a midterm n final with short essay questions; n a 5-6 paper. The chapters were a bit tedious to understand, but not that terrible. If you put in the work, you can get an A in the course.
Professor Lekarew was not the worst, but I can see why his reviews are not the best. He does not give homework, and the class is just tests and papers- and one group project. He lectures for the entire class so if you don't pay attention and take notes you'll have literally nothing. He is passionate about the class but it is so easy to zone out.
When he lectures and ask for a students input or their thought he will completely disregard it and turn their answer down saying they're wrong. He doesn't answer emails. During projects he interrupts and won't let you finish, inputing his own thoughts. He puts students down and seem insignificant if they ask a question in class. not worth the class
He doesn't check his emails and isn't very accomodating. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will not know what's going on unless you show up. He's not a tough grader but he is tough on formatting issues.
prob the worst professor I've had. He pulled thru with my final grade but he is extremely hard to follow. there are no notes, he just talks for 90 mins about topics that he seems unsure of himself. Do not take him unless you want to be stressed out the whole semester. there are 2 tests, 2 papers, and one group project.
he stumbles through his lessons, it seems like he doesn't even know what he's talking about half the time, he says something and then he completely contradicts himself the next second. he gets annoyed when no one participates (cus no one knows what's going on) and when someone does participate he says they're wrong when hes saying the same thing
He's odd to say the least. His lectures are stale and boring however he literally tells you what is on his tests and is an easy grader. During lectures if you know what's going on he praises you but if you get something wrong or get up to use the bathroom he gets irritated. He hardly writes on the board and rarely uses canvas so you have to listen.
doesnt respond to email and is unhelpful avoid his class at all costs if you miss one class consider yourself failing
He was extremely rude and combative with students. Anytime a student would challenge his own ideas he would dismiss them outright, usually in a rude and demeaning manner. He never responded to messages through Canvas or Outlook, and on top of this would provide very confusing instructions for assignments. DO NOT TAKE HIM IN ANY COURSE.
Very passionate about Philosophy but talks a lot. He likes when students participate and even then interrupts and says something really similar. stutters a lot(not judging, but its noticeable). 2 quizzes, 1 presentation, 1 project and 1 final. Its good if he knows you. if there is no participation, its gonna be a long lecture and time will go slow
If you like philosophy and actually care for it, you will like Prof. Lekarew, but if it bores you or you just do not like it then you are probably going to dislike him. I had him as a professor twice and if you show you care about the course and the readings, he will like you. He definitely is not for everyone, in my case i liked him.
To put it the best way I know how to, try to avoid his class!!! His lessons have almost no structure and he barely uses canvas. He teaches as if this is not an introductory/mandatory course. Never answers emails and is overall not easy to reach. Can be rude to students who don't give a precise answer that he wants. Overall, please try to avoid!
Prof is great
Unless you are passionate about philosophy, you will not enjoy his class. His lectures are difficult to follow as he stretches out whatever point, if any, he is trying to make. He does not respond to emails even though it's the only contact info he provides. Assignments are not posted on Canvas, explained in class, and have to be handed in person.
He's not THAT bad but he is somewhat tricky. He doesn't post anything and if you miss a day in class then you won't have any material for that day. He'll tell you that you're wrong if you don't agree with his opinion. You have to pay really close attention and write notes, read the material, and always agree with him.
He's an alright teacher. Very passionate about philosophy, I'll give him that. Take notes!! If you miss a class, you won't understand what is going on. He is the type of prof. to use EVERY minute of the class. Talks through the whole class, so you need to PAY ATTENTION. Overall, if you could find a better prof, take that one.
He will call on you and you have to agree with what he says. There's really no arguing with him. He will shoot you down if you answer a question incorrectly. You should read the material before class if you want to know what's going on. Try to pick a good topic for the presentation because it's basically him grilling you for the entire class.
The readings!!!!! Make sure you read the readings before class because he WILL randomly call on you and WILL try to argue with you about the topic. If you miss a day in class, you miss so much information, MAKE SURE TO TAKE NOTES TOO. His exams are really specific, so review review review
