EXTREMELY EASY CLASS!! perfect to gain general knowledge of world cultures and religions. Mark (as he prefers to be referred to as...) is what convinced me to change to a religion major. He is very thorough, funny, and helpful! i will be taking another course taught by him ASAP!

Had him for Religions in the World. AWESOME TEACHER. Classes are interesting and you learn a lot. His quizzes are even easy AND he gives out cookies. He has a great sense of humor and will help you out in any way possible. Be sure to attend the reviews before the tests since they help you a lot on the tests and final.

WOW, this is one of the most inspirational professors I have ever had! Hilarious, smart, helpful and very supportive of his students...doesn't get much better than this! And, to top it all off, he is smokin' hot!!! I can't wait to take another one of his courses...

Easiest class I have ever taken. He even canceled the only paper we were supposed to write. He tells you all you need to know for the midterm and final in the review sessions. GO! The class is fun but you really don't have to go. Easy A. Seriously.

I truly enjoyed this class and learned so much. Mark is an amazing professor and has a great sense of humor. He makes class fun from the start and you really feel comfortable getting involved with discussions and asking all the questions you want. I would recommend any class taught by him!

Very cool guy. Is a lot of fun to talk to, but is probably the worst professor I have ever had. He spent more time showing videos to try and get good reviews (as displayed on rmp.com) and telling jokes than actually teaching. He also brought in guest lecturers all the time, who were terrible. Cool dude, if you want an easy A, take his classes.

Have to disagree with the last poster, Mark only showed vids before class started and there were maybe 2 guest lecturers the whole semester. Yes he's funny but he teaches through humor and I for one learned a LOT about religion. Great guy who cares about his students and actually wants us to do well...how often do you get that??

Mark is my favorite teacher ever. He is extremely kind and down-to earth, but most importantly he actually cares that his students take away something from his class. I think his Bible class is fascinating and I hope to take more courses with him in the future.

I can say without a doubt that Prof Leuchter is easily one of the best teachers at Temple. He does a great job at linking texts with things that students may have a better handle on. He is a very easy going guy, but is still incredibly knowledgeable, and can deliver info np. Anyone who says that Prof Leuchter is a bad teacher on here is soulless.

Take him! The class was writing intensive and he only made us write one 5 page paper and one 2-3 page paper. The final was optional to boost our grade if needed. Funny and interesting. You dont have to go to class but I did because I liked him.. and he gave extra credit sometimes.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He really makes sure that the students understand the material, and he does it in a fun way. There are only two papers and an optional final. He is super helpful on all three. Easily the best professor I've had so far at Temple...and he's handsome too :)

I HIGHLY recommend taking Religion in the World with Mark...wonderful lectures, no papers to write, and attendance is not mandatory (but the class is so interesting I never missed). Mark genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is one of the best professors at Temple, no doubt about it.

great teacher! he knows what he is talking about and is extremely knowledgable. there is no way to fail the class, because he gives such easy exams and opertunities for extra credit. I have never been in a class where I learned a lot and actually had fun being there and still got an A. 2 exams multiple choice with 15 questions and only 3 options

Mark Leuchter was the most inspirational professor in my life! He brought enthusiasm and his passion for teaching different cultures and religions to his students. He changed my whole mentality of various cultures and religions. His tests were straight forward and extremely easy.

He was an awesome professor! He gave out a lot of extra credit and the exams were very easy! Although he did not take attendance it is recommended that you go to class because his exams are based on the class lecture. It really is easy and you actually learn something

My new favorite professor at Temple. My friend recommended to take him for any class and this fit my gened requirement. Best decision class you'll ever make. Get your World Society Gened requirement out of the way with Mark's class. He is knowledgeable, empathetic, and straightforward. He makes this class so interesting I felt bad missing any.

Mark is a really great professor, I would say probably one of the best ones i've ever had. I had him this semester for intro to the bible and torah and tulmad, he knows his stuff well, and his classes are interesting too. You don't really have to attend his lectures, but I always feel bad so I always go. TAKE HIM! YOU WON'T REGRET IT! :)

Mark is the best professor I've had in my 4 years at Temple and I've taken 3 classes with him. Great guy and really funny. He gives you every opportunity to do well including several chances for extra credit. Always multiple choice tests with jokes for answer "D". Take any of his classes and you wont be sorry.

i took mark for 3 Rel courses. Religion in World, Torah & Talmud, and Intro to Bible. got an A in ALL. VERY nice, smart, funny, understandable & lenient n u learn a lot in class. lectures not mandatory but very helpful esp. for exams. must take notes. his reviews are awesome! only a midterm&final of 10-15 questions. presentation for torah class.

Mark is great! He is really interested in the topics he's teaching. He gave two 10 question exams and gave a few opportunities for extra credit. He is so passionate about whatever he's talking about, it keep you involved and motivated to learn more. Overall, he is great teacher and nice guy. I recommend you take him for something while @ Temple.

If you go to class, pay attention, and make sure to attend review sessions, you can definitely get an A. Exams are easy of you put effort into the course. He did not take attendance, but occasionally had pop quizzes that he used for attendance. Very down to earth, smart, friendly and funny. Have taken several classes with him and would take more.

Prof. Leuchter is full of energy. He teaches with an intense level of enthusiasm. He don't want to punish students with burden of assignments, writing, or reading. However, there are occasional readings given. Attendance not mandatory, but I bet u won't feel like not attending his class for even a single day. Exams are MCQ and 1 or 2 short essay.

Mark is a wonderful professor. He is passionate about the topics he teaches, and really cares about his students. If you go to class, pay attention, and attend his review sessions, you can easily get an "A." The only reason I rated his "easiness" as a 4 is because you must attend classes or else exams will be difficult. TAKE HIM!

Mark is an absolutely wonderful professor. Classes are engaging, informative, & non-stressful. If you attend class, pay attention, and go to his reviews, you'll get an A. He uses pop quizzes to take attendance, until he gets a feeling for who shows up regularly. Mark honestly inspired an interest in religious studies that I never knew I had.

Great instructor, but I feel as if I'm in an Intro to Debunking the Bible class rather than what it is. Almost every lecture is accompanied by an explanation of why a certain event didn't occur or why it is more fiction than fact. It is difficult for me personally to enjoy the class when the professor continually treats the Bible as fiction.

He's a great professor, he made class super fun. He gave a thorough review of all the material that will be on the midtermfinal (Final is non-cumulative). He does give pop quizzes but don worry, as long as you study over your previous lecture notes, and do the short readings, you'll get an A. HE also gives fun extra credit!

Truly a remarkable person, and professor! The world needs more people like Mark. One of my favorite professors at temple! He makes class a relaxed environment which enables you to actually remember the info we discuss. Class requires a few 1 page response essays, a midterm, and a final - very doable! I admire Mark for his passion of his job!

Mark is a great teacher; the best that I've had in the religion department, and probably at Temple as a whole. He cares about his students and isn't afraid to share aspects of his life that are at times funny, though-provoking, and serious. He's an incredible orator who makes lectures genuinely entertaining.

Easy, awesome gen-ed. I was looking for a GPA booster & ended up learning a lot. I walked out of class many times thinking "wow that was deep." He gives TONS of extra credit, and the exams are fairly easy if you show up. Definitely attend his exam reviews. Hw is easy (5-6, 1 page response papers) he grades pass/fail, but they're simple. No stress

Probably the best teacher I have had at Temple, he's super passionate about his job and truly wants you to get out the most you can from his class. If you go to class and listen you will do fine on the exams, I would take any of his classes.

He's a really enthusiastic guy! The class was not my cup of tea, but I would recommend him to people because he's really there to make sure his students do as well as possible. 2 short papers, 1 full essay, and a midterm and final. If you've watched the movies and taken short notes during class, you'll do fine.

Professor Leuchter was by far the best teacher i have had at Temple so far. He is not test heavy, but i ended up learning far more just because i was actually interested by his lectures. I am taking him again next semester, i highly recommend!!

Loved this guy - great lecturer and he only wants you to succeed. Assignments are super easy, mostly 1 page response essays. You watch a few videos in the class, and it's mostly lecture based. Only needed to buy 1 small book for the class, all other readings were provided. Pop quizzes are a thing, but they're super easy & are only for attendance.

Professor Leuchter is an all around great person. He is so smart and I've never had a better lecturer. Although it gets boring at times, he makes you really think about things in a way you never would have before. There is only a midterm and final and there are options to get extra credit. Attendance isn't taken but you won't pass if you don't go!

I would seriously give Professir Mark 100/100. He is amazing. Really cool. He seriously keeps you engaged on what he say on lecture. So inspirational and eye opening. Really easy going and funny. Mark is the man, plain and simple. One of the only electives i have ever taken that I enjoyed the fullest. Mark dissects all of the films referencing religion in ways no one would ever think of before, making every lecture interesting. No homework besides some reading, and the tests are designed for you to succeed. I would take him again if I could

I had the pleasure of having Prof. Leuchter twice this semester. He is extremely thorough/knowledgeable when it comes to lectures. He is also accessible outside of class, and is extremely caring when it comes to his relationships with his students. He offers many extra credit opportunities and makes sure material is clearly understood for exams. (:

The best professor ever!!! Religion is not even my major but I loved his class. If you have chances to take him take him for every class. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed. I took him fro Intro to Bible and Religion in the World I learned a lot I loved both classes. He is an inspiration and he makes class fun.

100% take any of his classes. He makes the lectures fun and very interesting even if you come in to the course having little knowledge of religion. He is one of the most charismatic professors I have ever had.

He is a sweet, Candian guy who is so passionate about religion and his students. He does his best to keep the lecture interesting even when the material is boring. There are occasional pop quizzes that are only for attendance purposes and both his midterm and final were such a joke. The class is very lecture heavy but he does have 200 students.

Mark was THE man. Not only is he an amazing lecture professor but hes funny, cares & is very logical in the way he grades/assigns. I never wanted to stop listening to him talk. He is so intelligent & if he happened to not know an answer to a question he could always point you to someone who did! Plus, music at the beginning of classes ! Only jams.

Professor Leuchter is a very respected professor in the religion department. He's funny but is also very knowledgeable about the subject matter. I would highly recommend taking a religion class with him. Religions of the world (a gen ed class) is what I took and I really enjoyed it.

Professor Leuchter is a really cool, smart and funny Professor. His exams are also pretty easy. He gives pop quizzes and does not make power points for his lectures, so it is critical to be present in every class and to stay engaged. His lectures tend to be boring at times but for a gen ed, his course is one of the easier ones and I'd recommend it.

Professor Leuchter makes the class really engaging and fun. He understands that we have other classes and other work to get done. There isn't much homework, just a few short essays. His lectures are very informative and it is clear he knows a lot about his department. He is super nice, caring, intelligent, and makes a GenEd class worth your time.

Definitely one of my favorite professors at temple! He sticks to the syllabus, usually only has three short short short response papers, which if you actually show up to class are super easy, a midterm exam and a final exam. Professor Leuchter also has some pretty funny jokes and cool pictures of his dogs.

If you want to pass Dr. Leuchter's courses, all you need to do is show up and participate. That's it. He's an amazing professor/lecturer, his classes are engaging, and he's passionate about all of his students, especially the ones who come to him and keep up a rapport. SUCH a great professor. I am not a religious person but had heard great things about this course and I am very glad I took it. Even during Zoom, Professor Leuchter went out of his way to make his lectures interesting and get us involved. Very compassionate and easy to reach out to outside of class - wish I had this class in person!!

Professor Leuchter did a great job in his lectures and the lectures are joyful. Even though the context might not be too in-depth, people can have general ideas of what religions of the world. By the way, grading is lenient. Few easy assignments, and two short papers.

One of the absolute best professors I've ever had! I've taken his Intro to the Bible class as well as Ancient Judaism, and both were truly wonderful experiences. His classes were super easy and fun, and at the same time, I really learned a lot. Professor Leuchter is extremely knowledgeable and caring. An A+ professor!

Mark is one of the funniest professors out there, he really wants everyone to succeed in his class. The class requires one 2 page essay and one 7 page essay, but he is very lenient on the 2 pager because he wants you to take the feedback to succeed on the 7 pager. Exams are literal jokes. Lectures are thought provoking and challenge your views.

The class itself was based on two 20-point 10-question multiple choice exams, a 20-point opinion assignment, and 20 points of attendance. Professor Leuchter provides several opportunities for extra credit, however. He is very nice and clearly cares and has a passion for what he teaches. Only downside is he brings politics to class EVERY class.

Great first experience with a professor as a freshman. Very kind and understanding towards any issue you may have. Cooperative and flexible with everything!

He's a nice person, and the class is an easy A. Take his classes to fulfill humanities requirements. His analyses of movies are fascinating. The only reason I wouldn't take him again is that he soapboxes a lot. He'll goes on political tangents for a third of class and it has no relevance. I don't disagree with what he says, but it's annoying.

Although I never made close connections with him since the class was big, I thought each of his lectures was thoughtful and you could tell he cared about what he teaches.
