One of the most engaging professors I have had, he makes otherwise boring historical minutae interesting through his highly animated personality, "fun facts," and frequent jokes.
Very entertaining teacher. Always keeps you listening w/ his fun facts and sometimes strange stories. His weekly map quiz can be a little tricky as he sometime tosses it up. Makes you know alot of info for tests but is very clear about what info you need to know.
Mr. Little can simply be summed up like this. He is the world formost leading authority when it comes to world of anything academic. While he only chooses to teach a few clases (being the humble man he is) there is no end to what the man know and what he can teach you. *continued*.
Most enthusiastic and interesting teacher on campus! One heck of a nice fella!!
Great prof. Facinating and animated teaching style. Single best history professor I've ever had. SJRCC is lucky to have this guy. This professor needs his own show on the history channel, its not like a normal class at all. Be prepared for 2 pages of notes every class and dont skip because this guy talks very fast and covers a lot.
A credit to education. I hated history before I had him. He's animated and full of "fun facts." He goes quickly so don't miss class.
He's an expert!!!!
A great professor! He's funny, energetic, and a all around good guy to learn from. His weekly map quizes can be a bit trying but if you study hard for them you can't miss. Easy A!
Never miss class, pre-write all four essay topics to prep for the tests. For God's sake, spend the time on your project and meet the requirements, and he really WILL call your family to check on you. All that being said and done, this will be the easiest A you have ever gotten...AND you will be laughing every step of the way. The guy is hysterical
Mr. Little is not only the best history teacher I've ever had.. he's one of the best teachers I've ever had, period! His lectures are extremely fun & interesting, & h's always cracking jokes. Whatever you do, don't miss class b/c 99% of his lectures can't be found in the book. Prewrite all essays & study hard & you will do fine on the exams.
I was never that interested in history before i took his class. He is sure to make it interesting and want to learn a lot more. I will be taking another history class with his next semester. Excellent professor. Talks fast....so be ready for some notes! Excellent class though.
Love, Love, Love this guy. I took US history 2 and World Civ 1 from him. He is such a good teacher. he does talk fast but if you tell him that you need him to back up he will. In WC study for those map quizzes. No worries though he is a great teacher.
Mark Little is fantastic. I look forward to taking more classes with him. You will learn things in this class that will carry with you for life. It is so great to have a professor that is actually passionate about what he teaches!
I adore Mr. Little. He is entertaining in class and accessible out of it, he is so passionate about his subjects, and if you can't pass his classes it's your own fault because he will tell you exactly what you need to do. He is a true teacher.
Good, interesting lecture, kept me riveted.
I love Mr. Little's stories. He is the best and if you are concerned about what you need to know. Just listen to him because he says "so here's what you should know." He is the best teacher!
Great prof! Halerious!! Took him for AMH I and W. Civ II. Easy class (as long as you attend every day/take notes)...talks a little fast but will repeat if you ask. You will learn and be laughing all the way. There is a easy 7 pg "family history" paper too. For better grade include pics and family tree (not nessary though). Take him at all costs!
I love this guy! Not only are his classes easy A's, he always makes sure you have a fabulous time learning about history. He makes me want to change my major to history. Take him at all costs!!!!!
World Civilization I was the first dual enrollment class I've ever taken. I've always been a History Nerd so this class was the best part of my summer, class is an 1 and a half episode of Colbert. And you will learn more then you have in your entire schooling, even if it's not required take this class you'll be glad you did!
Absolutely an amazing teacher. He's actually one of my favorites. Though he talks a mile a minute, he tells you what you need to know. YOU MUST ATTEND EVERY CLASS!! Write notes, there will be A LOT. He will call your family for your report. Basically he makes history interesting enough to learn.
This guy is fantastic. Vert knowledgable and full of stories. The guy is really good...but not easy. Attend, take great notes and study. He'll help you if you try.
One of the best classes. I have tried to fit additional classes in just for the entertainment value. To understand his humor you do need to understand the subtlties of sarcasm and know a little history. His large head is not from his ego but the vast amount of knowledge in it (ok maybe some ego as well). His only downfall is that he is a Gator.
My favorite class that i took at sjrcc
Talked extremely fast! Was hard to understand everything he said. Tests were 10 questions and an essay. The essay alone was worth 50% If you don't take good notes, or find it hard to attend everyday, do not take him!If you don't write essays or papers well, don't take him! 20% of your final grade wil be a 7 paper research paper!
LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!! BEST TEACHER! All you have to do is study your notes, and questions and you can ace the tests. (Only side note is if u hate taking notes don't do this class thats what you do in there) other than that funny guy! Only four tests and a paper for work, plays games in his class too sometimes! Overall Grade A+
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! I loved him, he really knew his stuff and made every lecture very fun and funny!I wish he taught more classes he was wonderful!
He is amazing! He was put on this earth to teach history. He is so passionate about what he teaches you, it makes it interesting. He is clear about what he expects...no ****. He is not to bad on the eyes either, in that professor please tell me more I could listen to you for hours kind of way. :)
An amazing teacher. His subtle sarcasm and interesting fun fact knowledge made this class one of the best I have ever taken. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Mr. Little is hilarious and makes class fun BUT I had to drop the class because it was too hard. The only way to get grades is through tests and since you take 4-6 pages of notes a DAY, a test every few weeks is just too much information. Plus his tests are all short response and there are 3 possibly essays for each test. Cool guy, but really hard.
Mr. Little was a fun teacher. He was always high energy and had a Diet Dr. Pepper at hand. I think that was the secret portal to his cache of knowledge. He really knows his stuff and doesn't even need notes for a lecture. His tests were a bit challenging sometimes, but you had plenty of time to study and the essay topics were always fair. Great!
great teacher!!!
i took him online. He was quick to reply to emails and encourage and he gives you lots of assinments to prepare for the exam, but not nuf time to look up the answers in the textbook. if you dont want to learn and wish to cheat your way thru don't take him. he also does essay's and a proctored essay exam to make sure that your learned.i droped
Mr. Little is a great teacher who knows a lot. He taught me that "alot" is not a word. I did not do so well in his class, but he lots of chances to do better. If you take him than you shoudle be ready to come to class and learn. Othewise you are going to not do so well.
this guy is great. he knows his stuff is funny and wants you to learn. you have to attend every class and write a fun termpaper about your family but you learn alot (he taught me that its really a lot so its two words. if you wish to get something for your tuition money besides a grade then take him
I took his class online and it was HORRIBLE. So much reading (4 chapters at a time) I personally couldn't comprehend all the information. When I asked what I can do to improve or better study techniques he made me feel stupid and not right for his class. In person he's funny and friendly, but online he's rutheless! I recommend in class ONLY!
Mr. Little is my favorite professor. He keeps his lectures easy to listen to with humor, while giving tons of facts. I am a history major, and he challenges me to study hard for his tests, which are still easy due to him telling you 3 possible essay topics ahead of time. His tests are not multiple choice, so if you're lazy don't bother. LOVE him!
Mr. Little is a very good teacher. He knows exactly what he's talking about and makes it interesting to learn! However he is very tough, he talks the whole time and you have to take notes on your own. The test is all short responses with a essay that is half of your test grade! Even though he's tough, I'm glad I took him because I learned a lot!
I absolutely hated history and dreaded taking this class but, his class was one of my absolute favorites. He's absolutely hilarious so its hard not to be drawn into what he's saying. He's also very help and extremely willing to help someone in need, as long as you make a real effort and don't take advantage of his kindness; you'll love his class
Grades on 4 tests and a term paper. Study and you will do fine. Lecture was a joy, informative and entertaining. Awesome teacher cannot say enough good things. Tough, but fair.
He is not easy and you got to study and come to class. If you try than he will help you. This is not an easy "A" course, but he's a "A" prof.
The only reason I said that attendance was mandatory is because if you're not in class to hear him expain things than you WILL get left behind. Love this professor and took all his classes.
My most memorable teacher ever. He was funny and knowledgeable and personable. Easily one of my favorite people.
My avg was 97% until the proctored exam. We had to memorize 12 essays (in detail) then compose 2(of his choice)of the 12 essays . It was pass/fail. I was surprised to hear I failed the course.I was given a second chance for one letter grade lower. After answering questions he lowered my grade to "C". That's 2 letter grades! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
I did ok in the class, but the class could have been designed better. It seemed like the class was difficult for the sake of being difficult. I wouldn't recommend this professor.
Yikes! Nice guy who knows his stuff, but a ridiculous class. Expects you to do too much.
I won't take this teacher again. Very confusing class.
High stakes testing, pay attention, work hard and don't get down about failing and you'll pass. Very helpful, but still a little difficult.
I'd avoid taking him if you can.
He is so funny I have cried several times in his class. He is very knowledgeable but his tests are pretty difficult, okay, REALLY difficult. Visit him in his office and he will help though.
Mr. Little is absolutely hysterical! You won't want to skip class, but if you do there is no way to get the information elsewhere. The tests are extremely hard, but make sure you look at the textbook and essay questions and prepare answers ahead of time: it'll save your grade! The most important thing is to GO TO EVERY CLASS AND TAKE GOOD NOTES!
Take clear notes, study as many of the IDs that you can, do the book questions, and write out all of the essays for the essay questions. Also start the Family Paper as soon as you can! Professor Little is a nice guy, but his teaching method is just cruel. Way too many things to study only for a few things to be on the actual test. Hard class!
Smart guy, ridiculous class. I rec'd a good grade but a lot of people fail because the standards are too high. Makes assignments tough for the sake of being tough. Take another prof.
His class is hard in the sense that you need to study and do a lot of work. But there are no surprises on tests. Everything on the tests is discussed in class. The essays on tests are chosen from possible essay topics that he tells you in class. However, Little tends to talk a little fast. Look up the things he doesn't explain well in the book
I took Little for World Civilization and he was a great teacher. I dont like history so i didn't enjoy the class very much. There are 4 test including the final not cumulative and they are hard. 5 q's from a list of 20 questions he gives, 5 q's from lecture notes, and an essay he picks from 3 essay questions, so you must know all three :
Mr Little makes attending class fun! He's a funny guy, bouncing around and making exclamations. Pay attention, and take good notes. He'll generally make a big deal of saying, "and you should know xyz". Tests are a bit grueling, but as long as you start studying about a week ahead you'll be just fine. Study and pay attention, and you're good to go!
He is a brilliant teacher. His lectures are clear-cut and are designed to make you take excellent notes (which you'll need). He lets you know exactly what you need to know ("SO, you should know") and what you don't ("for your fun-fact knowledge"). DONT skip class. But you won't want to anyway, the lectures are hilarious! For sure my favorite class!
He is not easy, but this is college. If ya skip your gonna miss stuff. You should take his class if you wanna learn, but there are ways around him if you just want credits. I didn't like history before him and he knows some cool stories about American history, but beware, you qoing to have to study. He also checks your sources on papers.
Pay attention in class, take notes, and you will pass. Study for the exams from your notes only. Received grades not lower than 94.
I didn't think the class was too hard. however, the workload is silly. Tries to be hard by giving too much work but doesn't explain why you're working so hard. So workload is crazy just to make the class more difficult.
I took him online and he's gives lots of comments about writing. He helped my write better. Lots of teachers don't even try to help on the writing. There was lots of work online, too. If you don't want to read the textbook, then this isn't a class you should take.
Little is an extremely knowledgeable and hilarious guy. He is straight-forward with what he wants on the test, meaning he wants you to transcribe lecture notes from memory into cohesive essays on major lecture topics. I would say he has a slight bias to the right, but it may just be for dramatic effect. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
This online course was the hardest I've ever taken. Tests are two part, essay, and Q&A. For each test, there are three essay questions, a total of 12 essays by the end of the semester. So, know your grammar in and out. The Q&A portion of the tests is very ambiguous and frustrating to answer. I had to learn every detail. However, I learned history.
History was not my strongest suit. I almost failed the class, but he was understanding and gave me second chances. So much reading to do, but as long as you do it way before the tests, you'll do fine. Never miss class because there are a lot of info that he'll say that will be on tests. He would tell you in lecture what you should know for the test
I took this class online. I felt like most of the assignments were just busy work. There are 4 exams and 12 essays total, along with lots of homework. Do the essays way ahead of time because there is a P/F proctored essay at the end. It was slightly more time consuming in comparison to some other courses I've taken, but doable.
He is a wonderful teacher but tough. Do not miss his class!. His lectures are funny and informative. You gotta take notes!
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had! His tests are super hard and there is a lot of essay writing, 12 to be exact! He was rude to me when I asked him a question over email and is an extremely tough grader.
He seems like an awesome guy if you take his class on campus, but DO NOT take it online if you're just looking for an easy credit. Very, very heavy workload. The multiple choice/TF section of tests are ridiculous. Many answers cannot be found directly in the text, very "read between the lines" instead. Would def. not recommend online.
Very good teacher. Be prepared to take notes, because if you don't take good ones, you'll fail the tests. Asks you to be very specific when answering questions, but doesn't ask you for anything he didn't tell you.
He is absolutely passionate about what he does but if he is willing to help outside of his lectures he doesnt give that indication. Staff should be able to teach their students to a C level- he doesnt seem to care about doing this. His grades and notes seem arbitrary, but he is incredibly knowledgeable. Take at your own risk. He knows his stuff.
I took his class for Fall B. There is a lot of homework but its easy work. You have a multiple choice test based on a few chapters at a time. The multiple choice test is an easy A and so is homework if you just do it. He does grade essays a little tougher but def fair in his grading. I would def recommend this class!
Plenty of people failed his class/got a low grade due to the essay portions of his tests. There's no homework so if you screw up it'll cost you. My advice would be to pre write the essays based on the prompts so you have a good idea of what you want to say. He's informative and clear with what information you need but it isn't worth it.
I am currently taking his class online. 12 essays and a lot of busy work. On first reading the syllabus, I was mortified and almost dropped. After getting into the reading and just making myself do the work, it isn't bad at all and I am actually learning History. He tells everything you need to pass! I would be shocked if anyone failed this course!
He is an amazing and knowledgebale professor. Very passionate and it shows in his lecture. He inspired me to even become a history major. Lectures are intense but tells you exactly what you need and if you miss class you won't pass. Just have to take good notes and basically memorize the information!
I ended up being the only student in Mr. Little's summer history class. It was definitely the hardest class I've ever taken, but he's hilarious and I enjoyed it. If you're a good writer and have the time to put in, he's a good choice.
If you do the work and read the text book, you'll pass this class without any issues! Professor Little was easy going!
Professor Little is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. I have transferred to a Uni, but he makes seemingly boring subjects so fun and entertaining. You have to attend class! He lectures in a story-telling way, so soak up all the information he gives. I would retake his class just for fun, if I could. You can easily get a B.
Really good teacher to have online. He answered every email (and there were many) almost immediately and was always helpful.
I took Professor Little's class to fulfill a requirement for my AA degree, but I didn't take into count the amount of work he assigned. Granted, he gives you two weeks to finish several assignments and an exam and essay, but there's a lot of reading assigned as well. Professor Little, however, is very helpful and will treat any issue that you have.
As a person I would be willing to say this man may be one of the best teachers I've had in my life. He's funny, clever, and thorough on top of many other positive aspects. The catch however is in order to pass with an even somewhat decent grade you need ample time. If you have time to spare he's flawless. If you work it's very ill-advised
Makes history engaging
Let's set the scene: you enter a classroom having nearly 2 years invested into college with only a history credit left. You choose this man, and are presented with what may quite possibly be the worst professor on planet Earth. A man who barely spoke I once had as a professor, and Mark is somehow worse. If you want to hate history, this is for you
100 questions per chapter. 15 chapters. Screen reader does not work with his online book. Expects students to pre-write 12 essays for his tests. He gave 4 tests with 1 essay per test. Plus, there is an in person 2 essay final and you are expected to memorize all 12 and regurgitate 2 of them. Oh and if you fail the final you fail the class.
If you take this class, good luck.......
Taking this class online is very good for someone who wants to work at their own pace. There are quite a few papers that you will have to write so if writing is not your strongest then I don't recommend taking this online. Also he is very nit picky on what you write in the papers. Just make sure to add lots of detail.
Worst History class Professor to take. Way over-kill on the work, a lot of essays and an in-person exam that's pass or fail. I wish I found this site before I took his class.
I took this for a summer course to try and get ahead. Each week you had 20 to 26 assignments to complete along with writing 3 papers in preparation of the exam which for the essay portion is only 60 minutes. 4 of those 20 to 26 assignments are 50 to 60 questions per chapter in the E-book online. this was hard for me to keep up with and complete.
There was quite a bit of homework (easy A). I believe there were 4 exams, 1 part MC other was written. He gives you a list of 12 possible essay choices for the whole semester I recommend writing them all then rewriting the essay into the essay slot during exams. The final is an on campus proctored essay exam. Show up and try your best, you'll pass.
Professor Little makes learning about History INCREDIBLE! BUT, you have to do your part. Take the notes, study the notes, write the essays, then re-write the essays, memorize everything and youre good to go. Is it easy, heck no. However, hes a vault of history knowledge that any student is lucky have as a professor. Take his class. Mic drop.
I took Prof Little online (which admittedly might make things a bit harder for some). To say the least I would never take him again. His class made me (a history major) question my abilities. Hes subjective in his grading (with essays) and his final at the end is RIDICULOUS (ie if you dont pass the final you fail the class). Wouldnt recommend.
Prof. Little is very, VERY knowledgable about the subject matter. His only grades are tests (and a paper) and they are DIFFICULT!!! Be prepared to write essays (3-4 pages) from memory. You have to go to class or else you will not pass. If you don't want to study your butt off, do not take his class.
SO MANY ESSAYS. You can complete EVERY ASSIGNMENT and DO A GREAT JOB, but if you do poorly on the essays he'll fail you. Would not recommend if you don't like to write and history is not interesting to you.
IMPROVED MY WRITING THE HARD WAY! Lecture-based but tells you exactly what you need for notes. Pro: tries to make the material as clear and enjoyable as possible, which I appreciated. If you have good memory/studying skills, you should pass. Con: grammatical errorspoints off. If you think you won't have a lot of time to dedicate, don't choose him.
I took AMH2020 in the Spring of 2020 and I loved his class. The homework won't take too long if you are focused and the test is not too difficult either. There were 4 units when I took the class and each one had you write 3 papers per unit, so 12 essays in total. Although this seems like a lot of work its a guaranteed way to receive an A
Mark Little deserves to be someone's fun uncle, NOT a professor. He goes on long tangents about nothing, gives you minimal time to prepare for assignments and tests alike, expects perfect memory from events (and phrasing of events) and the only saving grace is he's extremely charismatic. People with great memories will love him. Everyone else run
Doesnt teach at all and makes you do too much work in short amounts of time. If your a fast reader, can understand concepts from reading only, and are good at writing, then you might do well. But if not then I dont recommend. Makes you write 3 papers for each unit but you only turn in 1. 4 Exams + 4 papers 80% of grade. 14 assign per unit
This man almost made me, a history major, hate history. He is the absolute worst teacher I've had. He's not a very nice person, to start. But, what got me was his final. It is pass/fail, Based on two (very subjectively graded) essays. Thankfully, I passed, but I would avoid him at all costs. Definitely the worst prof I've had at this school.
DO NOT take this class during the summer. If you bring up issues with the course he will laugh in your face. If he runs out of time planning the course, you will suffer for it. I had to take 7 essays in a row right through the weekend immediately after finishing the "Family history paper." Each exam, you write up to 4 essays and only 1 is graded.
I enrolled in this class and it doesnt help that Im terrible at writing and its difficult for me but he is such a tough grader and it honestly doesnt help that you have 12 essays to write to only use one of the topics on the essay. I dont think that two essays should determine if you pass or fail the class either.
I really enjoyed his high energy as he lectured in class. No textbook needed. There are only 4 tests, no final exam. Tests are 55 multiple choice, essays. Be prepared to write. He really cares about history. His lectures are informative and amusing. I wish I had his energy. Follow the outlines and you'll do fine. No online homework or quizzes.
Doesn't care about students or responding to them. Doesn't listen to reason. Sets insane standards. 3 essays per unit, only to submit one of them. And then you have to memorize the content from all 12 essays to write 2 of them for a final exam. A TON of reading, notes, and busy work. It's not worth the stress, find a different professor.
Don't get me wrong, Mark Little is a mostly relaxed professor and assigns the typical amount of work that college students should be able to handle. However, his level of comfort with his students crosses innapropriate boundaries. Openly made several sexist comments in class and showed no concern for how it affected the teaching environment.
He is a great professor! super fast with his responses if you message him via canvas. He has start dates for the different units and I had finished unit 1 way before unit 2 opened so I asked if he could open it early for me since I do better working ahead. he was more than willing to help me with my problem and opened it up the same day.
Would fight if I met him in person, can't follow his own syllabus, and will grade you on his feelings instead of facts
Very lecture heavy but the teacher does a great job of indicating important things that need to be on the test. He also makes it fun and will add some jokes into the lecture to make it entertaining and keep your attention. Test are two parts one multiple choice and the other is an essay.
Please just pick a new professor. Do not take a half semester course with him online. For his online class he just makes you use mcgraw hill. He gives three essays per exam and only grades one. 12 in total. To make things better, for the final you have to memorize all 12 essays you wrote so he can grade you on 2 of them!
Words cannot describe on how much this class hurt my mental health. It is set up for you to fail. This professor has no care for his students or his course. Avoid taking him at all costs.
I am not wearing my seatbelt on my way to his final. In person pass/fail essay final exam for an online class is an absolute joke. Do not take.
Professor Little makes this class where dreams go to die. Even if you take this class online you will have an awful time. He grades on feelings instead of facts and will not give a basic understanding of his own grading. Don't take at all.
