VERY good teacher! Mark explains everything and makes religion very interesting! Tests are open book...he will answer any questions you have. He opened my mind to different religions and I actually changed my religious beliefs after this class. Very powerful teacher! Totally recomend!!!!!!!!!!! Must take him!

Exams are simple - mix of fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, and short essay; and a 3x5" card with notes is allowed. Bulk of grade is on research paper and religious service report, so good writing skills go a long way. Very knowledgable, presnet unbiased view of world religions.

Just to update..he no longer lets you do open book or no card...all memory...but hes pretty cool and the tests are not the easiest but short and sweet...the class is pretty interesting..lectures are great but to follow taking notes stink

Mark is a terrific distance learning instructor. Huge term paper assignment and lots of reading. Discussions an environmment are laid back but informative. Only regret is I wish I would have taken it on campus since it sounds like hes a hot daddy.

I found the class very interesting. The work load was fair, and he was generous in grading. Turn in the papers on time, study his handouts for the tests, and you should do fine.

Excellent teacher! Mark makes the class fun and interesting, he jokes a lot and always has interesting information about the subject. His tests are easy if you take notes during class and pay attention to his lectures. I would defiantly take another class from him.

My favorite teacher so far at CNM! Very silly (though a little crude), very well-informed about religions and their histories, very informal. Feel like this is one of his main interests and passions. Don't know what others are talking about, he always seems prepared and prompt about emails to me.

Decent---easy going--little cranky if your thoughts are different than his, but isn't that all of us. Recommend--you'll learn or reaffirm alot of information. He, indeed, is knowledgable

I enjoyed Mark's lectures, he had a funny outlook on a lot of things but still gave the class the facts. Some people may have a hard time with this class: mainly people with very strong preset religious ideals or those who don't feel it necessary to show up and take the notes. I loved the class.

He's a laidback hippie dude. We even had a roman week to dress up & eat food. He passes out handouts that are an overview of what you will be studying w/important terms at the top. He follows syllubus & his tests are easy/short multiple choice. There can be more then one answer but if you pay attention it is not bad

Mark is knowledgeable about religion and keeps the lectures interesting with his profaninties and religious jokes. Most of the jokes are made at the expense of Christian religions but he tries to make funny comments about all religions. I am christian and wasn't offended in the slightest. I enjoyed the class. However he was late a lot & unorganized

I love Mark. If you want to meet a cool and interesting person, take his class. You wont regret it!!

Mark was awesome! Always willing to take the time to debate different opinions in class and examine other points of view. I will def. be taking another course with him if it is available.

Also took him for HUM 1111. He was really good in all the classes I ad with him. Very helpful and straight forward. He really knows what he's talking about. He makes the class fun and the topic interesting.

Mark knows his subject and teaches it enthusiastically. He involves his students and encourages interaction which makes the class fun. Plan to work, but it's worth it.

Pretty straight forward and easy class there is a good amount of reading and homework but as long as you keep up you will do well. My only complaint is he is very slow at grading papers and replying to e-mails.

Mark is a great teacher. You don't need to read the book if you attend the class and take notes. He is very thorough with each topic and attempts to make it an interactive class. Don't be afraid to speak up, it makes the class more interesting.

If you make an effort in this class, you will be rewarded with a good grade. Its that easy. Mark is one of the best instructors I've had but he is pretty slow at grading papers.

Mark was an amazing teacher and story teller. His sense of humor helped this class to be fun and interesting. You do read and write a lot of papers, but they're not intense and usually they're pretty fun. I would not consider this class a lot of work if you show up and pay attention during lecture. Took the 8 week sumer class- there was a lot of work due because of the condensed time format it wasn't anything any average college student shouldn't be able to handle. Mark is very open, knowledgable and welcoming to all students and answers questions honestly. He is a fantastic lecturer, very witty and funny. Highly recommended

He's friendly and his lectures are interesting. Don't bother getting the text books (he'll probably tell you that the first day) but be prepared to read a handful of articlesreligious texts.

Mr. Williamson was absolutely the best professor I've ever had. I've never felt so excited to come to class, and genuinely stoked to learn. He has amazing lectures, he's funny and so inspiring. (Mind you, I took this class because I needed the credit not for fun) It ended up being my favorite class of the semester. I've learned so much!

Mark is an amazing teacher and an even more amazing human. His ancient religion class is fun, informative, & simple. He gives all the material you'll need and tests on lectures. If you show up and listen you'll do well. He shares info about his life also which is cool to know who he is outside school too (HE MAKES HIS OWN CHEESE!) He is a great guy

Mark is awesome! He really sparked my interest in religion, and gave the best lectures. He's really laid back and I would recommend everyone take his class. There is a lot of writing but it's fairly easy most of the papers beside like 3 are only 350 word which is like one page. I learned so much!

I have taken two courses with Mark and he's a delight of an instructor. Attendance is super important but I can't imagine anyone wanting to miss his class. He loved my invented religion of the Whoflungpooians. Oh and did I mention that he's adorable! Definitely take his class.

No textbook required, all the readings are on BB. He is hilarious so you will want to go to class. He extends the deadlines if you ask. His lectures are verbal and/or written on the board but they can be a bit disorganized. All assignments are due Wednesdays except for the group project. Assignments are not hard but they can be time consuming.

He's a good teacher. His lectures are verbal and he writes a little bit on the board but it's pretty disorganized. If you ask a question he will answer it and explain as much as you need. He doesn't go too fast, he just talks a lot. He does focus a weird amount on anything sexual so it can get really weird really fast.

Mark is a cool guy and a cool instructor. His lectures are primarily verbal, and he writes few things down on the board. He normally has papers and assignments due every week that keep you up with the content in class. Would recommend.

I really enjoyed taking this class. Mark is very knowledgeable in religious studies and his lectures are easy to follow and keep you interested. As long as you go to class the tests are a piece of cake. There is at least one writing assignment every week, but they're usually simple and easy to complete. YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK. Awesome instructor.

Lecture-heavy class, but not difficult by any means. It's definitely a work-load, but it's a higher level college course, and the material is expansive. He breaks down the things you need to know, is patient (a lot more understanding than his syllabus implies), and makes himself available for when you need a bit of help. Just ask.

The textbook really isn't that necessary. I am pretty sure you won't be able to pass the quizzes with good grades if you don't show up to class. Mostly lectures and takes very few notes on the board. Likes to show lots of videos and there are a few potlucks (more if you ask nicely). Overall, loved this hippy-ish, funny instructor. Would take again

Communication is key with Mark; if you have anything going on that will effect your work, tell him and he'll help you to work it out. Also, group project participation is a must, you wont pass if you don't participate in them, but they're pretty easy. His class was fun and is by far one of my favorite classes.

Prof. Mark is awesome. His material is interesting he is pretty heavy on home work but it's not difficult. Require some reading and follow-up. Easy grader and you won't regret if you intend to study. No text book required. You will need some time to finalize homework. If you expect to pass with no study then forget it.

I've taken two classes so far with him, and he is great. His in-person classes are definitely better. Mark's humor and interpretation of history makes me so much more interested. He is very clear on instructions for papers, but the only criticism I have is that he is a slow grader. I do hope to take more classes with him in the future.

He's a really good professor and I would highly recommend him. He's caring and gives extra credit. The course is pretty easy and the projects he gives are interesting as well.

Professor is kind & fair. This course is great. He grades papers fast, if he didn't before, well he does now. He values his students potential. Every class as interesting. Lessons are informative & entertaining. I was challenged but it's not so hard that you can't pass it. I learned so much about different religions.

One of my favorite professors so far. Can be harsh on grading but he's big on communication. He gives interesting lectures and fun assignments. He's clear on due dates and starts class by reviewing the syllabus, so I would recommend arriving within the first five minutes. Very understanding and accepts late or edited resubmits.
