He is an awesome professor! Makes math super easy & teaches the material very well. He does everything he can to help everyone! He is extremely polite & engaging with his students. Offers extra credit, final exam is optional, & the homework problems are very similar to the ones on quizzes & tests. Even gives hints on what's on the quizzes & tests.
Take him!! He will make your life so much easier! He tells you exactly what's going to be on quizzes and doesn't play tricks on you! His test review sheets are EXACTLY like the tests. He makes it very easy to get an A in this 4 credit course. He's very helpful and has a sense of humor that's awkward at first but he's actually really funny!
Mr. Marino is the best math teacher that I've ever had! His lectures are very clear and he creates awesome note packets for every class for us. He knows his stuff and can communicate it well. Hes always willing to help students after class and in office hours. Hes an A+++ teacher who truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed!
I had Mark for ULC148 and it was the easiest class I've taken. Mark is a great guy and an awesome professor. He teachers the material pretty well in class and takes attendance. You'll have online homework that you can get a 100 on every time. The quiz and tests he gives in class are exactly what he says they are. The final is optional. No textbook
Funny, tolerant, very clear lectures. Tests are just like practice exams
Marino is a wonderful math instructor. He learns his students names and gets to know them. He genuinely cares and wants us to do well. He is very helpful during class and in office hours. He was very patient in answering any student questions. My favorite professor this semester - go Marino!
Marino is a great guy who really cares about his students. He was ALWAYS there to help other students and me whenever we needed it. He is the type of guy you want to be friends with. He is very approachable and great to communicate with. I wish he taught higher level math courses so I could have him later in my academic career.
great instructor, the way he presents his notes make it very easy to learn and study for exams.
great instructor, the way he presents his notes make it very easy to learn and study for exams. get ready for a lot of bad jokes though!!
Mark Marino is the BEST. Love this man. He teaches very clearly so that anyone can understand what hes teaching. He even prints out the notes for us to fill out in class. His expectations are very clear and he wants his students to succeed. Definitely pick him for ULC 148!
Mr. Marino is an excellent math teacher who cares about his students. He teaches very well and is patient with student math questions. He learned our names and got to know us. He's the only professor at UB that I have connected with. Take him - he's a great person to know!
Would take his class any day
He definitely knows what he is talking about and wants the best for his students but his class can go on for forever sometimes.
Marino is the man! He is the best math teacher at UB. He is extremely fair and has clear expectations. He teaches well and you can easily learn from him. If you come to class and do the homework, you will do very well in this class. He even wrote me an amazing letter of recommendation for summer internships. Love this teacher!
He's really a great teacher. He actually cares about his students. I would say its an easy A, but it's not one of those "show-up and pass" classes. Do your work, do decent on the tests, and you'll be fine. He also offers extra credit, and if you don't feel like you're at an A level, speak to him, and he will 100% give you a way to help boost your grade.
About to finish his semester right now, he's been the best teacher I've had in a long long time. Patient, quirky, knows how to make a class ready to go. His teaching is just at the right pace and with the right methods. His tests are always fair and he always tells you whats coming up ahead. He's definitely an amazing professor I would take again.
Had Marino in Fall 2015 for ULC 148 and loved his class. Im in Calculus now and his teaching definitely prepared me very well for Calculus 1. He is extremely nice and personable. He really cares about his students success. I still see him around campus and he remembers my name. Hes the absolute best - a real gem!
The best professor ever! My favorite!
Absolutely loved this class! I highly recommend you take this course with Mr. Marino. He makes the material understandable and his witty jokes always keeps the class awake. Show up, do your homework, review the notes before a test or quiz and there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. By far my favorite teacher at the university at buffalo.
Such an amazing teacher! I would recommend him to anyone! He's so funny that you wanna go to class everyday! Loved having him as a teacher!
Prof. Marino is simply the BEST! He teaches very clearly so everyone can understand the material. He also is happy to help in office hours and has extra review sessions at night for test reviews. He gives students every opportunity to succeed. Definitely take him hes a great guy!
Marino is an amazing professor. He makes math easy, understandable and interesting. He is the professor that goes the extra mile. If you don't understand something, he will make sure you do. His office hours are great to go to!! THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Recommended to everyone and anyone.
Best math professor.
I had to take ULC 148 as a prerequisite and I took it the year prior before going into my freshman year of college. Math hasn't always been my strong suit however, I've never struggled in Marino's class so far. He is so kind and such great professor. As long as you go to class, you'll excel. He already prints out the notes so just take extra notes.
I wish more math professor was like him. Review questions are the same format for the exam. Drops lowest quiz. Total 7. Don't let the number scare you, they're really easy. if your not as great in math, he's the prof. for you. He bring his dog Diego to class. The list can go on and on. Overall, he's a great Professor and i would take him again 3
Professor Marino taught 148 really well. He is very humorous and generally caring about his students. He gives extra credits for his exams and the practice exams are just like the real thing. He goes over everything and makes learning trig/algebra easy and fun. I've never been great at math but I excelled in this class. You must show up though.
Prof. Marino class made me change my bio major to a math major. I highly respect this professor. He teaches his materials clearly and explains clearly what will be on the test. He does NOT bs his students. Also, he gives you Full-Size Hershey's bar while taking the test and his dog Diego has these cute green glasses and gives you candy too.
Math is sortof my strong subject I'll tell you that, but with my previous teachers I would have to teach myself the material! All these good reviews are absolutely true, he's an amazing teacher! he cares so much for his students and his class is literally an easy A , his notes are straightforward and his examples are as well! i recommend him !!!!!!
Professor Marino is phenomenal ! He's funny as hell and really goes out of his way for the students who he knows are working hard to earn there grade. Definitely would take him again !
This professor is amazing! He explains things clearly and thoroughly and he's always willing to help and always provides more than enough resources to help you out before tests and quizzes, which are a fair level of difficulty i.e. It's enough to test you understanding but it's still challenging. Honestly every professor should be like this guy.
Marino is your best choice for Calculus 2! He creates awesome note packets that he prints and passes out in-class. He is very clear in his teaching and breaks down the complex material so you can understand it. He really cares about his students succeeding and has evening review sessions before exams. He is very friendly in office hours.
Hes an excellent teacher. He passes out notes packets each class that are crystal clear. His class is interactive and he will answer any questions you have. He wants his students to do well and it shows. I cant say enough good things about him.
Marino is the best math teacher ever! Love this man!
Never expect a math professor to be this hilarious! He is literally the best I've taken in any math class. He cares about student's performance and participation and always makes jokes in class. He also gives extra review session the night before the exam, and the exam questions are very similar to the review sheet. Take him, you won't be wrong
Marino is literally the best professor Ive had at UB. He treats you like a person and not a number like most UB classes. Hes really smart and a great teacher. He does everything possible to help you do well in his class.
great guy. hes wicked smart and knows how to teach very well. he is personable and very approachable. would take him again anyday.
Marino is an amazing professor. He truly cares about his job and every student he teaches. Whether you enjoy class you not, at the end you'll learn exactly what you were supposed to. His notes are amazing, and he's very helpful in preparing you for exams and quizzes. He makes Calc 2 a clear and easy class. Definitely take him!
Marino is the best math teacher in the department. He teaches clearly, gives you notes handouts and always helps with any questions you have. He also has extra review sessions at night to help you study for the exams. I wish he taught every math course that I need to take.
One of the most down to earth and caring guys you could meet. He makes Calc 2 very manageable. Exams were fair, and he takes time out of his day to help you prepare through review sessions and practice exams. If you go to office hours, he is extremely kind and helpful and shows that he wants to get to know his students. Super professional and nice.
Man like Mark, best prof at UB hands down. He makes his own packets note for semester, no textbook needed! Assigns online homework, gives 5 pts extra credit before exams. Drops lowest quiz grade and optional final if you pass 3 exams. Exams same as review. Likes to crack jokes to/at students. Brings his dog to last towards the end of semester.
Professor Marino has been by far the BEST math teacher I've ever had. He takes the time for each student to make sure they understand. He's constantly making jokes and just makes the class pleasant to be in. His test are exactly what's on the review sheets with some numbers changed and homework is easy.
He is one of the BEST professors ever! He makes Calc 2 interesting, easy and fun to learn. His homework is usually on WebAssign and it is mostly based off of what he teaches in class. No textbook required, study his note packets and ace the class!!
Best math professor I've ever had, exams are super easy, based off his review sheets, gives extra credit, quizzes are easy, super nice guy.
A+++++ teacher in every way. UB needs more teachers like him! Hes super caring, teaches well and goes above and beyond for his students.
Funny guy. He always gives online homework and his classes is straight forward. He goes through the lessons straight off the book and the homework is somewhat annoying
Best 142 teacher. Am currently in his summer class. He teaches so clearly so everyone can understand. He doesn't leave out any details and his notes are the bomb. His quizzes and test are very fair. If you attend class, do the work, you will do well and understand the material. Great man Marino is.
great teacher. our class loved him. really cares about his students. im excited to have him again for 141 calculus this fall.
Highly recommend. His notes are better than a textbook. He teaches very clear and doesnt leave out any details. He makes complicated material easy to understand. Hes a nice guy.
Professor Marino was a great teacher for calc 2! he provided all the notes needed for class and had great review packets to prepare for exams. I took this class over the summer so it was a 6 week course and felt i learned more from him in that time frame than i have any other professor! definitely would recommend!
He truly cares about his students!Would definitely recommend him!
Professor Marino is an excellent professor, I highly recommend that you take him. He brings us own notes and you dont have to print out anything. He teaches very clearly. He wants everyone to do well. Dont be afraid to ask questions in class or during his office hours. He is one of the best math professors I had so far. A++ Professor
Has to be the best professor in UB. Just pay attention and the class will be easy to pass. He also gives you a lot of ways to boost up your grade so DO THEM! He is very helpful and teaches very well. Would literally change my major to have him as a professor again.
Best gen ed that I took at UB. Had him fall 2015 and he still remembers my name when he sees me on-campus and asks me how im doing. He teaches very well, loves math and cares about his students.
hes a great teacher. he explains everything and lets you ask questions if you don't understand. he posts his notes on ublearns and sends reminders to the class. he's a nice guy.
Really like his teaching style. He passes out notes each week and you will fill them in during class. If you miss class, he posts them on ub learns. He will help you outside of class and hes the only professor I have this semester that cares about his students.
Best mathematics teacher I've ever had! Lectures are very clear, lots of examples. He prints out notes packets and brings them to class. Quizzes are given weekly in recitation, however he sends out an email every week detailing exactly what is on the quizzes. Offers exam review that mirrors the actual exams. Would definitely take again!
I took Calculus in high school and learned way more from Marino in one semester than I did all year in high school. He's an awesome teacher. He explains everything with a balance of theory and examples. I leave class understanding the material and being able to do the homework. I'd take him again in a second. Plus he's a great guy and funny.
Professor Marino is an incredible professor and I emphasize incredible. He explains the content concisely and he's very clear about what's going to be on quizzes and exams. His test review is literally the same as the exam with different numbers all you have to do is literally memorize it. Haven't gotten a grade yet but it's going to be an A 100%.
Hes great. He gives homework and quizzes every week which pushes you to learn the material. He goes over the proofs of the Calculus formulas and then gives examples to explain them. He covers a lot in lecture so attendance is important. He lets you ask questions in class and hes not intimidating like some profs. I actually understand Calculus.
Great/Funny Professor who makes the class enjoyable. Gives you note handouts so that you can follow along with him in class and provides a clear explanation on topics you may have difficulty with during the lecture. Homework is online and there is a quiz every week in recitation as well as 3 tests during lecture throughout the semester and a final.
Great professor and a great guy. He definitely makes class enjoyable, and this is the best I've probably ever done at math. Looked forward to going to class
Great teacher.
Professor Marino is an absolutely hilarious guy. He tells you exactly what to study, gives you a review packet, gives extra credit that prepares you for his exams and his final is optional. By far the easiest math class you can take. Excited to take more of his classes
Just like all the other reviews. He is a great professor and you should definitely take him.
A plus professor. He does a great job teaching. Loved going to his class.
Math is my weakest subject and I still liked going to his class! He's so nice and is an amazing teacher. He clearly goes over material and makes everything easy to understand. If you struggle with math I highly suggest taking class with him !
Hes an awesome teacher. He has his own notes that you work through in class. He breaks everything down so you can understand it. Very fair grading system.
he's a great teacher. he's nice and helpful. unlimited tries on homeworks, tells you what to study for quizzes on ublearns and does good reviews for exams. he sets you up to do well. id highly recommend mr. marino.
I was really bad at Calc 1 but after having him I became really good in Calc and able to help other students too. I will highly recommend taking his as a Calc professor.
My favorite professor this year. Teaches well, cares about his student, reviews for exams, helps in office hours. he's that professor who goes the extra mile for students.
Professor Marino is the greatest math teacher I've ever had. He explains the material clearly by breaking it down to the point where you feel like an expert on the subject. Gave extra credit and told us exactly what would be on exams and quizzes. Practice exam was exactly like the exam just changed numbers. Stand up guy with a good heart. Take him
My favorite professor. He cares about his students and explains very well.
He is by far the best professor I've ever had. Gives out packets for notes and is really good at explaining the material. He is definitely A++++++++++ material.
Easy going, is funny, cares and want you to do good, helpful, clear teaching, makes notes handouts, and gets to know his students.
Very caring professor! He is available and responds to emails. He helps every student out and his review sessions are very helpful. It was a relatively less work intense class. Easy A if you do all the work in time.
Very good teacher. Cares about his students and is very funny in class. Review packets are helpful for the exam. Going to class is a must
Great teacher. Really cares about each student learning, and will explain concepts in detail if you ask for it. Full of funny anecdotes and jokes and pics of his dog. Practically writes the notes for you and does plenty of review. Warning: Do not use your phone in class. It's the one thing he has absolutely no patience for.
He did a great job teaching our class and recitation. He breaks down the tough concepts and explains them well. He is friendly, approachable and helpful. He gives a lot of opportunities to get a good grade: homework, quizzes, tests and a final exam. Wish he taught 241 and 306!
Has to be the best professor on campus. Loved going to class even though it was early in the morning. He's hilarious and keeps the class interested even though the material itself is dry.
Wants his students to do well. Makes Exams and quizzes EXTREMELY similar to notes and review sheets that he himself gives out. Isn't condescending if you ask him questions. Available everyday after class for office hours, clear grading criteria. Makes lectures interesting even though Calculus is boring. I have nothing bad to say about Mr. Marino.
Hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. Lectures are very clear and every week he sends out an email telling you exactly how to prepare for the weekly quiz. He holds review sessions before exams and gives plenty of practice problems. There is no reason you shouldn't get a good grade in his class
he's good
he posts the notes on ublearns, you print them out and you fill them in during class. he teaches very clear and doesnt miss any details. his grading system is very fair. if you do the work and study, you can get an A. Hes one of the best so its hard to get a seat in his class so keep trying during registration to get in it worked for me.
hes the man to take for calculus. You wont regret it.
Marino is a GREAT PROFESSOR!!!. He gives out great note. Goes through every single details. Homework are reasonable. Quiz and test are fair. Overall a great course. If you hate calculus, after taking with him you will love it.
crystal clear teacher. explains everything in detail. very fair grading system with homework, quizzes and tests. best professor ive had so far at ub. marino is a good dude.
Hes the best professor Ive had since transferring to Buffalo. I took him for summer class and actually looked forward to going to class at night. He will spend the time to make sure you understand calc.
The best professor I've ever had at UB. He makes lecture notes and goes through every examples step by step. Cal 2 is arguably the hardest of the 3 calc classes, and he makes some of the hardest topics easy to understand. Exams are just the review sheet but with different numbers and order. I would highly recommend him for just about any calc class
The best professor ever!
Amazing prof. He can teach calculus to anyone. Hes smart, patient and caring. He will help you do well and answer any questions you have. Our class loved him. ub needs more profs like him.
He is absolutely one of the best professors in UB's Math Dept. He is very kind and always willing to help. If you need help , he is always available in and out of class. He loves to crack jokes so just go along.! He wants his class to do good. He loves his dog so be ready for alot of pics of him lmao. Raise your hand in class if you are confused!
He is as great as all of the reviews say. Hes good at explaining and will answer your questions. Hes approachable and will help you do well. Print his notes for class and fill them out, go to his exam reviews and you will ace them. He sometimes sends emails with his dog doing calculus and gives test tips so read them.
This man is the best. Once you go Marino, you can't go back.
Nice Guy
He is an AWESOME Calculus teacher. He creates his own notes and you fill them out while he is teaching. His quizzes and tests are very fair. He lets you ask questions in class and is friendly. I hope to have him for calculus 2.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!
He explains everything very well and will stop to explain things in more detail if you have questions. He cares about his class and always jokes around with us. Barely any homework and haven't had to open the textbook all year. He also makes detailed notes for us instead of us having to take notes on our own.
Best math teacher in UB. Highly recommend taking him.
Prof Marino Is A Great Professor. The Class Is Not Difficult And He Breaks Everything Down Making It Much Easier To Understand Or Remember. Homework Maybe Twice A Week On Pearson Based On The Work Did In Class That Day. Funny Guy. Makes Lectures Easier To Sit Through. Test Are Exactly Like Review Sheets. No Book or Textbook Required.
He is the BEST PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS!!! I had him for Calculus 141 & 142. I would have DEFINITELY take him for all my math classes including Calculus III (241) & Differential equation (306). He is the best!! Definitely recommend him for any classes!! I wish they would have him teach higher level math classes, specially for engineering students!!!
Amazing math professor, and all around awesome person. Makes the class easy to sit through, jokes and is able to have side chat so the math isnt over bearing. Tells you what he wants you to know so you dont waste your time. Makes the classes fun, will take all math classes with him in the future.
I could NEVER understand math, and after taking this course I could actually explain math outloud and am no longer confused. Just found out he would be my professor again for Calc I in the spring and I am incredibly excited. Great professor.
I was nervous in the beginning of the semester because many of my classmates had prior calc experience and I didn't. However, Marino's problem-based, straightforward teaching style helped me understand completely. If anything, Marino's style may be too "hand holdy", as it didn't push me very hard. Regardless he is a great teacher.
Amazing professor through and through. Understands that math does not need to unnecessarily difficult and follows that approach. Easily the best math professor on campus, possibly best professor on campus period due to strictly this reason. You want to learn and understand, take Marino.
He's a great professor! I was always engaged in class even though I hate math. He gives you everything you need to do perfectly on the tests and quizzes, plus extra credit. He makes it so easy to pass and even excel. I would take his classes every single semester, and I hate math. A lot.
Had him for ulc148 in fall and in mth121 this semester. He explains things very well and is approachable if you have a question. Hes a legend and everyone wants to get in his class because he actually knows how to teach. Easily the best professor ive had here at buffalo.
He is my favorite professor. He knows how to teach and explains things so anyone can understand. Your final grade is tests, quizzes and homework. They are very fair and he sets the course up so that you can get a good grade if you do the work. I hope teaches 122 in fall so I can take him for it.
Lets just say I was petrified for calc. I have never been good at math. Marino is the best professor EVER. I can confidently say calc is fun. I don't know if he teaches calc 2 but I would be willing to take a class at 2 am just to have him.
Made my second time taking calc 2 make sense. Definitely the best professor I'll have.
Great teacher Im terrible with math and did well in his class. He explains things so anyone can understand and prepares you for the exams with review sheets. Dont need a textbook he posts all notes on ublearns. Highly recommend A+++.
Professor Marino was definitely one of my favorite professors I've had throughout this semester. His dry humor and his jokes keep the class from becoming monotone and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't receive a high grade in this class bc I suck at math but this course is relatively easy as long as you put in the work (something I didnt obv do.)
By far my favorite professor! Would take any of his classes in a heartbeat. He really cares about his students and helps you in every way. He is really thorough in class, and give you easier ways to solve problems so definitely go to class! Highly recommend his class, especially for those who have a hard time grasping math!
Best professor for teaching math 141 or 142 as he gives you a lecture outline you can fill put throughout the semester. Gives weekly quizzes on the topics learned last week, but helps you understand the material sooner rather than during an all nighter. Plus he is very kind and approachable if you have issues with your grade. Definitely worth it
Favorite professor I've had so far.
Marino is the best teacher I've seen in college, he learns everyone's name and cares about how you do and what you do in school. my previous calculus teacher was very poor and my foundation for calculus wasn't the best either, he pulled me out of my hole and I got through his class clean and clear. he gives very structured and concise lectures,
Professor Marino is an exceptional professor who actually gave me hope in doing Math. I am not particularly a Math lover but Professor Marino made it easy to pass. All you have to do is study and show up to classes even though attendance is not mandatory. He is the best Math professor I've come across thus far.
The best professor I have ever had. Explains the materials clearly. Go to class and do the homework. No reason why you shouldn't get an A!
Great teacher. Loved going to his class. He teaches well and hes a really funny guy. Show up to class, take notes, do the homework, test reviews and youll get a good grade. He makes a tough subject easy and fun to learn.
100% enjoyed this class. Best professor I ever had. This man could teach literally anything and I would take his class. Show up to class, do the practice exams, and pay somewhat attention and you'll do just fine. Easy A+ if you put in some effort. One of those professors that really does care about his students and their well-being.
No words. His 5 star review even after 100s of ratings says it all.
Mark is by far the best professor I've ever had in 6+ yrs of college. It's been a year since I last had the pleasure of taking his class & I still find myself searching for professors to even come close to how amazing he is. I wish he taught every course I need to graduate! Funny, organized, clear expectations, easy to follow, & just a great guy!
This man is truly a gem. He teaches extremely well, provides his own notes, and makes good jokes to prevent boredom. Everything is taught in great detail. He will answer any questions you have. Exams are straightforward. The only downside to his class is that it takes some work (quizzes every recitation) and strict homework deadlines.
Best professor at UB he blesses on the quizzes and exams. He makes the class super easy and enjoyable to attend.
I was so upset to hear he wasn't teaching the upper-level calc classes for the spring semester :( His notes are easy to follow and he clearly states what we need to study for the test. The only reason you wouldn't pass is if you don't study exactly what he tells you to. He's great!!!
Marinos class was my favorite class this semester. He cares about his students, gives good notes and makes class interesting. He learned our names and even brought our class halloween candy. If you need to take math, Marino is the man to take.
hes simply the best
Out of all math department, Mark is one of the best professors. Math department honestly is failing because the test doesnt reflect on what students learns in class and the average final grade is 50 on math cumulative final which leads to a curve. Mark made the final optional unlike other professor.
Professor Marino is one of my favorite professors! Very funny, cares for the students and make math fun. I am not a math person, but he makes math fun and easy to understand. As long as you come to class, do the work and the online math homework you will do fine. He also gives reviews and his tests are based on classwork.
Love him
Wish he could teach all my class! Hands down the best professor at UB. He is very passionate about what he teaches and genuinely makes you want to learn. He creates a review sheet for every exam and will ALWAYS tell you what to study for every exam and the weekly quizzes. Make sure you attend classes, do all the homework, and ask questions.
Mark Marino is an amazing professor. I've never enjoyed math until I had him. He makes everything super easy to understand. I had an A until the last exam. However, it was truly my fault for slacking off. If you do all the work and pay attention in his class then it should be an easy A.
awesome professor. he breaks it down so anyone can understand it. Best professor ive had at UB. Great guy overall.
Amazing guy
He is amazing, his tests and reviews are basically same thing. He does not throw any curveballs just a little stricter when it comes to having phones/computers or ipad in class. I am happy I took him and he tries very hard to make sure you understand the concepts and such! He can be lenient if you are on his good side too :) Happy Searching!
Professor Marino was by far the best math professor I have ever had. He is good at explaining problems and is well prepared. His notes are printable and you work on them in class together so you're not rushing to write down formulas, definitions, and so on. I wish he taught more courses in higher math levels, but he really is a great professor!
Best math professor at UB for lower level calculus
The absolute boy
Professor Marino is a great professor for your capstone class. He truly wants you to succeed and knows that this class is only being taken by you because it is a requirement for graduation. As long as you put in quality work, he will give you the best grade he thinks you deserve. I had 100% on every assignment because of the effort I put in.
Best math professor, he explains everything until he's sure you understand. Very clear about what he expects and never blindsides you on exams or quizzes. His witty humor helpes the class move along.
Mark is the best choice to take Calc 1. He gives difficult exams for his class. You will learn a lot in his Calc 1 course.
Professor Marino is a great professor. He is very straight forward with his criteria and grading. He gives you the right things to study in order to prepare for exams. There is homework but it is nothing extreme, and it will really help you learn the material better anyway.
He is the best professor I have taken at UB and I haven't had a class with him in 2 years. I can only say great things about him because he really does have the students best interest at heart. If you have the opportunity to take a class with Professor Marino I promise you will not regret it! I cannot thank him enough for all he has done for me.
Marino is an amazing professor. You are lucky to have him if he is one of your professors.
If you ever have the opportunity to enroll in a math class taught by Marino, take it. To keep it simple: he's great at keeping your attention, assigns useful homework that helps prepare you for his tests (do/understand the homework and you'll definitely do well), and (most importantly) is passionate about his job.
Marino is such a great professor! However, do NOT use your phones in his class, he will call call you out. WebAssign is a grade booster and definitely helps with the exams. He is very respectful and is always willing to help.
Best teacher I have this semester. He gives you the option to watch his videos or attend live class. He explains math clearly, gives good reviews for exams and exams are very fair. He allows questions during class and is very nice. He wants you to do well in calculus.
Mr. Marino is the best math professor to have for MTH 121. His tests are a piece of cake. They are literally a mirror image of his review sheets. As long as you do the homework, the weekly quizzes, and study the review sheets, this class is an easy A. Plus, he gives an amazing note packet and makes the material easy to understand. Take him!!!
Truly amazing, whether you understand math or struggle with it. His class is excellent for a steady intro towards calculus. *Lectures are live and recorded (mandatory to either attend or watch completely) *Quizzes and exams are reflective and practical. He provides live review sessions with material that matches the content. ATTEND THEM.
Hands down best professor I've ever had. He explains everything very well in his lectures and the homeworks are very quick and have unlimited attempts. The questions gone over in recitation are almost identical to quiz questions and the study sheets are almost identical to exam questions.
Takes a long time to respond to emails if at all. Very blunt and unclear on format and how complete problems. Grades based on work shown and will mark you wrong twice if used an incorrect answer to solve next problem.
His tests are the same as the review sheets. If you spend an hour on the review, you will get 100. He uploads videos that are exactly the same as his lecture so you don't have to attend class if you don't want to. However, he answers every question so politely in his lecture.
Just came back and made sure this man has a 5.0- these kids man. The best professor in UB, Numbers dont lie!!
The GOAT and one of the best professors at the school. Makes a hard subject like calculus easy to understand.
Hardest math class Ive taken only due to him being so strict and by the book. Doesnt allow excuses even though weve all had emergencies. Would never take this class again.
Best class this semester. Watch the videos he teaches calc well. Homework and quiz are straightforward if you watch the videos. Does good exam reviews.
he makes calculus easy to understand his grading systems are fair and hes helpful in office hours. if you need to take math 131 take him.
Amazing professor, is clear and concise as far as what is going to be on quizzes and tests. Easy at making calculus understandable, he says right off that most people actually are struggling with the algebra, so there is "review" intermittent throughout. Would take again
Good professor but a cake walk of a class. If you want an easy A without being challenged this is your course
(Took in Fall 2018) Marino is definitely one of the best professors at UB. He's super caring and teaches the material extraordinarily well. He absolutely loves to joke around with the students during class, and gives a clear understanding of what he expects of you.
Best professor at UB!!!. Anyone who gives him a bad rate is just dumb. So funny and genuine. Loved taking his class!
He is very clear and makes his content easy to understand. I struggle in math and this class was a breeze. He tells you exactly what's on the quizzes and tests and his grading is equally distributed. highly recommend!! he does take attendance on paper but his lectures are posted online.
I absolutely loved this class. As long as you pay attention in lectures and keep up with the homework the class should be easy. He is very fair with the exams and tells you exactly what concepts will be on the exams and gives you a practice exam set up the exact same way! He is a very funny and enjoyable professor! Would take this class again!
Super good at teaching. He's also a very nice person. His lectures are posted online so it's easy to refer back to help study or if you missed a lecture. He makes it very clear what's on the test. One of the easiest math classes I've taken.
Not a difficult class, if you put up some work.
Good prof though the class is a bit of a joke. That's a good thing.
Marino is a solid choice for 100-level math courses. He typically goes over problems that will be likely on the test.
Absolutely amazing! Probably one of the best math teachers i've ever come across in my whole academic career. His ability to make hard topics seem like a walk in the park is crazy. He's Super kind, funny, helpful, and dedicated to helping every student. Exams are straight to the point and all of his material is fair. Take him, you wont regret it!
During the first week of school, I thought "man this is going to be a long semester" as Marino gave a stern warning to someone using their phone. But as time went on, I relized he is a great professor and is very fair. No tricks no games. Pay attention in class and do the homework and you will be fine.
Professor Marino teaches math like no one else in the department. He is a fair grader and clearly conveys material. He is always available during office hours to help students.
He is a very caring, humble and understanding professor. If you attend the classes and pay attention in class you will be fine. His class never gave me anxiety. It was always very chill and I really appreciated how he always tried to make us laugh by making jokes.
Every exam and quiz was just like the review sheets that he gave us and he was super niceeeeee. Just pay attention to his lectures and you'll be fine.
Funny and caring teacher. He takes the time to to teach in a manner that every student can understand. His class is really easy to understand.
Professor Marino is a very talented teacher being able to go over difficult topics and make you understand them. I would heavily recommend taking any of his classes as long as you go to the lectures. You would be missing out if you didn't the man is Hilarious.
Great math teacher, but a bit arrogant and difficult to work with. I've had him for both Calc 1 and capstone, and he really is a great teacher, but he can be incredibly rigid and unreasonable.
Best prof ever! Awful subject I have to admit...but if you're struggling...just go to him please just speak to him and go to office hours. I went at the end of the semester and I should have gone sooner but he's awesome. He's one of the only profs at UB that actually cares about his students... he wants to succeed!!!!!
He has basically a 5 rating over 177 reviews. That should say it all. If you're presented with the opportunity to take him, then pull the metaphorical trigger without hesitation.
Nice guy and straightforward
He's nice but in my opinion, he was just ok. I think he could be pretty arrogant, especially when it came to kicking people out of class if they sneezed or coughed once. The quizzes, exams, and homework were fair. Overall the class was easy but he just rubbed me the wrong way.
His quizzes and tests are very straightforward, no surprises. He's also very nice and funny, he wants all his students to do well.
They need to replace the flagpole in lee loop with a statue of this man.
Can be very arrogant, and is a challenging course overall. I do not recommend this professor, and if given another option I would take another.
I would totally take his class again! He doesn't give bs lessons, everything he teaches is exactly what is on the quiz and on the exams. Super fair, he is also pretty understanding and the coursework load is super manageable!
marino was by far the best professor I had this fall. he is a great teacher and cares about his students.
Professor Marino is by far the best college professor out there! He truly cares about the success of his students! His quizzes in recitation are very easy, and the 3 midterm examinations are just like the study guides he provides! He is also very hilarious and cracks jokes while making fun of himself! Take him for this class! You WON'T regret it!
He is such an amazing professor. He cares about the success of his students. He is very hilarious during lecture and cracks jokes about himself. Quizzes and tests are straightforward with tests being the exact same format as his study guides! As long as you study and do your work, this class is easy. I 100% recommend taking this course with him.
I would not consider mathematics to be my forte, but after completing Professor Marino's class I feel capable and confident with my math skills. He is a very kind person who truly loves teaching math which perfectly complements his patience and kindhearted personality.
Amazing
Easy class and easy exams.
Review sheets were very similar to quizzes and he post his lectures which were really helpful and easy to understand. He's also really nice and you can tell he wants his students to do well. Just don't go on your phone during lecture and he takes attendance.
Professor Marino is the man. He's naturally funny and isn't afraid to crack jokes in front of students. He breaks down the content so its easy to understand and he won't burden you with homework. Exams are only 6 questions in total and he gives you review sheets that mirror them. Also, all lectures are available online if you decide to skip class.
Marino is an awesome professor. I struggled with calculus and other maths like this before taking his class. He presents the material clearly and in an understanding way. He jokes around and makes the class less stressful. Once a week there are quizzes on the prior week material. He gives tips and helps in any way possible. Take if you can!
Complete waste of time! Exams are incredibly hard and very easy to lose points, it's very clear he does not care about students to the slightest. Very inconsiderate
Marino is very funny in class, very generous grader, and overall made math very easy which is not something everyone can do. Engaging lectures and entertaining with his humor.
Marino was the best math professor i've ever had. His lectures were engaging and he offered so many resourses for extra help. All of the tests and quizes were straight forward and even if your not good at math, it's very possible to do well in this course. I couldn't recommed him enough!
My other friends said the same. Marino is the best professor at UB, he is funny and makes great jokes. I was bad at math before I took his class now I have an A. Thank you professor Marino, I will take you again if I can!
Wonderful math teacher. As someone who is really bad at math, Marino makes these concepts easy to understand IF YOU ATTEND THE LECTURES. Lectures are posted online, he basically tells you what's on the quizzes and exams and the review sheets are extremely helpful. Homework is not bad at all. Don't talk in his lectures, he will kick you out lol.
Professor Marino lives up to the hype. He truly is a great professor who cares about all of his students inside and out of the classroom. Professor Marino was always cracking jokes which makes the boring lectures more entertaining. Having the lecture videos posted are very helpful, and the tests and quizzes are the same as the review. Mark is great
I understood the topic matter that was learned in class and appreciated the amount of effort mark Marino puts into his teaching. MTH 131 was a great class and I wish I could take it again!
Great professor, not good at responding to emails. Gives good extra credit opportunities. Does post lectures. Hw every class but nothing crazy. Take advantage of math place and supplemental instruction. Tries to be funny in class. Prepares you very well for exams. Quizzes in recitation every week, well prepared for
This teacher was honestly the best professor I have ever had. He prepares you for everything and nothing is ever a surprise. The homework is actually helpful in preparing you for the quizzes and tests. He is super funny and tries to make class enjoyable. 10/10 reccomend.
Professor Marino's engaging lectures and enthusiastic support ensured student success, earning him high recommendations. In contrast, SI Nick's sessions were a disaster; his arrogant demeanor and self-centered approach made them unproductive and disrespectful, ultimately wasting students' time.
I am not goods in math or calculus, however Dr.Marino help me a lot, he is a teacher with funny speech. Calculus is hard, but he will let it become easier.
Took Marino last semester but just now seeing his RMP. He lives up to all the ratings and is easily a top professor at UB. While I don't like math, and don't plan on taking future courses, I would love the opportunity to have Marino as a professor again. Truly a great guy, knows what he is talking about, and is just hysterical.
One of my favorite math professors ever. Teaches the concepts clearly and concisely. Gives exam reviews that are the questions on the real exam but with different numbers and makes it clear what to know and the work that the course demands. There is nothing that you shouldn't know by the time exams come around and is exemplary teacher.
Professor Marino is a hilarious and engaging math teacher. His lectures are straightforward, and he provides great resources like study sessions and unstuckstudy to help students succeed. Definitely take this class if you can!
Everyone loves Marino. He's funny and it makes lectures fun. We have a quiz every week but it's only 3-6 questions, and he lets us know exactly what will be on them which is so helpful. He lets us drop our 3 lowest quiz grades. It's hard to not pass this class. He teaches a bit fast, so I attend the SI meetings every week for help and extra cred
Accessible and approachable. Take notes, you will do fine.
Pretty average guy and professor. Good lectures. Does his best to teach difficult things. I dislike some of the homework questions. He is understanding when needed. Would recommend taking any class of his.
All lectures and notes were posted online so there were no worries when I missed class. However, I found myself going to class often as Mark did an amazing job teaching. He was incredibly clear and would never move on until he made sure nobody had questions. Lectures were set up well and had a steady increase in difficulty.
Great professor! Lectures are always good and posted online so it's okay to miss class if needed. Material that will be on the test is always made very clear and practice exams pretty much mirror the actual thing. Easy to approach and very kind!
He's a great professor. He explains stuff very clearly and the tests were fair and based on the lectures. The lectures are posted online so if you miss class, it's accessible online. There is supplemental instruction which helps with the exams and quizzes a ton, not to mention its bonus credit which boosts your grade nicely.
Professor Marino is one of the BEST professors at UB! He is so kind and understanding especially if you need to ask for an extension or have to miss class. He gives extra credit, he is available for office hours, and best of all is that all of his tests are exactly like the review sheet. He will set you up for success guaranteed! TAKE HIM
Tells you what is going to be on the tests and quizzes if you are in lecture. Is highly talked about at UB. Classes are simple and to the point, everything you need to know and nothing more. Take him! And show up to the review before the exam (it's basically the exam just with different numbers).
Great professor, I would recommend anyone would take him. He cares a lot about his students and is overall a great guy/professor.
Professor Marino is an excellent professor. Even though attendance is not mandatory I would highly recommend you attend his lectures. He tells you what questions to study for the quizzes, midterm and the final exam. Go over the review sheet. The review sheets are very similar to what comes on the exam. Do attend SI lectures.
He's one of the best professors I've had at UB. He makes his class easy to follow along and explains it in a way that he knows we'll understand. loved his class
Marino is one of the best professors I've had. Very reasonable amount of homework if you keep up. Tests are not bad considering he sets you up well if you do the review sheets. Constantly has resources if you need help at any time. His lectures go quick and are very easy to keep along with.
amazing professor, posts lectures but i liked going in person, if you pay attention and practice youll do well
Marino is the best. Just follow along with lecture, either by going to lecture or watching his videos, and go to the optional TA review sessions before exams, and you'll have a cakewalk to an A. The homework can be a bit annoying but get it done.
As a non-math person he genuinely made me love this class! Highly reccomend going to lectures and SI review sessions and you will have an easy A! He drops 3 quiz grades and adds extra credit points from SI sessions to exam grades. Exam review is almost identical to the actual exam. All material is accessible on UBLearns too. 10/10 reccomend
he is the best teacher , super helpful and understanding
Marino was amazing. He is so clear about what will be on quizzes and exams. If you show up and do the notes, you'll be fine. Gives extra credit for going to SI! Overall a great prof and great guy.
Amazing professor best one at UB
I only got a B+ due to bombing the final, otherwise I maintained an A. Marino is a very straightforward, no surprises type of teacher. Take the class.
Great teacher overall, all test material is gone over in class.
I love him so much, and I beg u all to take this class with him!!!
