Awesome professor. Lots of peer reviews before papers and random quizzes to make sure the class has read. Super funny.
Great/ easy professor.. gives small pop quizzes to make sure youre reading. Nice, young and funny! Would definitely take again.
Great professor i really enjoyed his comp 2 class he is very funny and he laid back he does not accept plagiarisms !!! and he gives great feedback on your work. Also he grades for attendance so if you don't show up your grade will be affected.
What a great professor! Took comp 2 with him. Only have 4 papers and the first one is an absolute breeze. Totally manageable work! Just do the readings, beware of pop quizzes on the short readings, write well thought out essays, show up to class most days, and you get an A! Seriously love this guy so funny and nice. And young!
This professor is the one for you folks. He's got it all, he's kind, compassionate, and easy going. He lets you out early, 4 papers are your "tests" and the occasional pop quizzes are lurking around the corner. Check your syllabus. He's a great guy as well as a fabulous professor. Wears a lot of plaid. That's all.
really cool professor. super laid back but will help you get things done. gives great feedback and takes time to help you better your writing. also very funny & woke. def recommend
Proffesor Massaro is super laid back and chill with the lectures. The grading however is super specific and serious. Doesnt go into to much detail so READ YOUR SYLLABUS and show up. Other then that you should pass.
Lots of reading and weekly videos to watch. Weekly quizzes are easy since theyre multiple choice. 4 big writing projects and a few random journals are the major points. Def take this professor again.
A very laid back professor who loves his students when they are not acting like heathens. Ask him about political fallacies and he gets amped up.
He is alright, has a bit of an attitude kind of vibe . Hates side conversations. And grades your professionalism which is dumb. Emailed him and he told me an irrelevant answer! And keep the syllabus on deck because that's what he goes of. Also peer review is important show up and have the stuff in hand and you get credit.
Dude throws points at you if youre responsible and take school serious. He even has points for professionalism, so easy if youre not lazy and playing on your phone all class. Easy A if you listen to him, do the readings and participate. Also gives notes on each paper and peer reviews for each paper, so you'd have to be an idiot to not ace his class
My favorite professor so far. He's hilarious and laid back. Classes are often released early. There are only four essay assignments. As long as you do the assignments and show effort, you will get an A. Be sure to read and record what is on the syllabus. He sometimes quizzes reading assignments. His class was extremely easy, just do the work.
Massaro is funny and seemed like he would be enjoyable. Dont ask questions he will make you feel dumb. He will say Ive mentioned multiple times in class which I understand can get annoying when you have to repeat yourself but youre a professor and answering questions and helping people understand is your job sir. Sorry not sorry
Took for Comp 1&2. Best teacher ever. Extremely easy class, just do the work. He's funny and makes the class feel less like a chore. Only 4 papers and the 4th is your final. Do the readings, there will be occasional tests on them. He's a fun, young guy with a really easy class. Highly recommend.
Prof. M is super funny and very laid back. His class was easy, beware of pop quizzes, so make sure you do your readings prior to class. I have heard he is a tough grader but I have not experienced that. I do know that offers a ton of extra credit towards the end of the course though to boost people's grades. Solid choice.
HANDS DOWN BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD!!!! Super funny. His vibe is super easy to click with. As long as you read the material you will pass. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have enjoyed the course. He makes you enjoy the class. Pop quizzes often. Class often released early. I highly recommend him. He was the absolute best. Very passionate professor.
Professor Massaro is very strict on rules. He takes no excuses on technical or family issues. He is not that hard of a grader but does give boring topics for essays. Every essay has an annotated bib! There was a lot of analyses and readings with pop quizzes on them. He is a funny professor that tries his best to engage students in on his lectures.
There are 3 major papers, weekly quizzes & assignments. He is a tough but fair grader and offers optional extra credit. The only thing i didnt like about his online class was the 4 min time limit on the quizzes. There were 2 that i didnt even get to finish before it auto submitted. I think there should be a few more minutes on the timer.
Worst professor ive ever encountered. Our internet connection is our problem ? Looks like youre failing because COVID. Doesnt even give students a chance. Gives 4 minute quizzes for 4-8 specific questions that were supposed to memorized 60 pages worth of information. Definitely setting us up to fail when were forced to take this class online.
Massaro is super easy as long as you listen to lectures and read the readings. He responds quick if you email him and does office hours virtual. Quizes are a pain but they're mostly multiple choice, so easy if you paid attention. Super laid back and funny.
BEST TEACHER EVER! I took his Composition classes, and followed him to his LIT class. He literarlly tells you how to get an A during the first week. Classes are online but the modules can be done anytime during the week. Works good with students working jobs. Multiple choice quizzes. 3 papers. Good stories and poems. I love this dude. Take him.
I spend more time doing work for this class than all 3 of my other classes put together. 2 or 3 minute time limit for quizzes, some multiple choice and some not. It's impossible for me to read around 10 questions and have time to answer in 2 minutes. It's ridiculous. I'm sure I will have to retake it next semester, but it will not be with him.
Best professor at FSW. Easy A. Lots of reading. Very nice and accomadating. TOtally recommend.
gives a lot of EC. pretty nice guy. 3 actual papers and the rest are mini discussions. if you love literature he's your guy.
Although Professor Massarro's class was not always the hardest, his lectures were long and boring. Also, he graded things way too hard when he did not explain the assignments well. What was really irritating were the quizzes that were only 4 minutes long. As a person who is a hard-worker I found his assignments to be absolutely pointless.
Easy A and funny and kind teacher.
Professor Massaro's teaching style definately took some time getting used to. He only allows 4 minutes per quiz and you must pay close attention to the little things. Overall, after knowing what to look for, it was smooth sailing and he is actually quite layed back when it comes to grading, always looking for extra points to give. Would reccomend!
4 papers, one is just a cover letter, listen to his lectures take notes on them, and the readings for his little 4 minute quizzes. Use his cheat sheet, Grammarly, and follow MLA format and you'll do good.
I dont know how anyone could get a bad grade in this class. He tells you how to pass during the first week and gives a whole week to work in peer groups before papers are due. Use the files for MLA format and other important stuff. Pay attention to lectures and read his notes when he grades your work, and you'll easily pass.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He grades as if you are an English major. Please listen to me and choose another professor; it will save you a lot of heartache, especially if you care about your GPA. (He does not) These previous ratings are bs cause that is what I went off of in choosing him. He must've paid them for that rating.
Very fair professor. Very accessible outside of class. he helped me with work for our class, another one of my classes and with a recommendation letter. Very nice professor and helpful.
He grades emails you send to him. He doesn't send out a weekly message saying what's due & what's expected of the assignments. Instructions are very unclear. ABSOLUTELY no late work. Extra credit is offered at the end of the semester. Assignments due Friday nights. New assignments not up till sat or sun.
Easy A. Massarro makes it easy. Weekly modules are opened early. Examples of what to do for assignments are in the files. Lectures and assignements are open all week so its good if you work full time. He gives feedback on papers if you submit early. Nice guy and funny. Very fair.
I have never had a worse professor in my life. He graded very harsh the first portion of the semester and then graded lighter towards the end because he said he wants his students to pass. He completely contradicts himself with his grading criteria. I contemplated dropping out multiple times. The material was not an issue, loved reading it.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! THANKS MASSARO!
Prof. Massaro set out very clear grading criteria from the first day, and even posted a cheat sheet of things to absolutely not do when writing papers. Whenever I had to email him with a question he got back to me almost immediately. Very fair grader as long as you put in the work, and gives great feedback.
Professor believes you should know it all. Has harsh undertone and is non educating. Harsh grader will get zero if not followed one hundred percent of what he wants. Writes rude comments to you . If you have a learning disability steer clear.
Great prof who makes it extremly easy to pass the class. Uses student examples and Cheat Sheets for basic information. Had him for Comp 1. No late work accepted but simple assignments that are like 30 minutes of the week. Just do the work and you'll pass.
It's a lit class, so there's reading. Your experience in this class is entirely what you make of it. Massaro posts stories and poems and you either read them or you don't. There is only 3 papers so there isn't too much writing in the class. He provided fun lectures and was so kind and helpful to his students.
Taking this professor this semester was a trip. You don't really learn much but it is easy enough. The professor mostly grades based on MLA format and grammar so have that down. Also do not be late as he locks the assignment and does not have empathy. Overall, fine I suppose.
Pay attention to his rules because he goes by that. Easy grader as long as you remember stuff from composition 1 like mla formating and citations and use the Cheat Sheet he provides. LOTS of extra credit.
Very caring professor. Replies quick to any question and takes time to explain if you have questions. Gives lots of good information at the start and only docks few points if minor mistakes. Very understanding and kind. THANK YOU PROFESSOR MASSARO!
absolutely no late work is accepted no matter the circumstance and he will stand by that. his assignments were very doable, and he is a decent grader. he gives a cheat sheet in his files and that can help you make sure you won't get any points off. overall the class wasn't very hard, just do the work because you can't turn anything in late
Had Massaro for comp 1 and comp 2. Tells you how to pass on the first day. Gives great information files to use. Clear rubrics and examples of assignments from past students to look at in files so I was never confused. Gives lots of extra credit. He even gives extra points if you turn work in earlier than the last day.
3 papers. A midterm and final, but very easy as long as you do the reading. I was sad when this class was over. Massaro provided good video lectures, he responds to emails quick and grades quick. He's fair and has no problem providing extra explanations of course concepts if you need them. Extra credit.
Knows his stuff. Take this Professor only if you have the passion and desire for the material. Massaro inspires creativity and deviates from the usual humdrum of scholarly work. Make sure to know the basics of Composition because citations matter.
Prof. gave homework every week, a couple of assignments each week almost always at least one writing assignment. Two major papers in the semester and can be a tough grader on the papers. He doesn't accept anything except for work documents, can't even submit a pdf.
Professor gives extra points if assignments are turned in early so I currently have a 103% in the course. Gives a week before a paper is due to work in peer review groups. Lets us choose our paper topics too. Super nice. Recorded lectures are a plus and convienient.
Professor Massaro should be a highly respected professor here. He's very clear about his grading criteria, but is very liberal with extra credit when you understand the assignments. Listen to the lectures, they're pretty funny and very interesting. The man loves reading and analyzing and it shows through every time! 10/10 would recommend!
Overall, easy course work, terrible grading. Little to no feedback, and grading is mostly based on your ideas itself, not how you support them. Grading is incredibly inconsistent. I've submitted the same MLA citations as one of my classmates and they received half the credit I did, and was ridiculed terribly. Easy A - if you're on his good side.
- inconsistent grader. - will give you a C but won't tell you what earned the C. - unspoken rules, such as; if you don't submit an assignment the night BEFORE its due, you get points off. A classmate once asked him why he's harsh with some and lenient with others, and my classmate was told to look into other courses with different professors.
Massaro is a straight forward professor. gets to the point and makes this relatable. Submit assignments early and he gives notes so you can fix it and resubmit. He also gives a full week before a paper is due for us to work in peer groups. It's very hard to not get an A in his class. Very clear rules in syllabus. Guarenteed A.
Very clear about rules, grading and whats expected. Has past student examples of all big papers for review and peer review weeks. Get to choose your own paper topics. Expects correct MLA formatting. Responds within minutes to emails. Bad reviews must be because he sticks to the rules in the syllabus. Respects professionalism, doesn't accept excuses
Took him for both composition classes, which were not very demanding. Just do what you're told to and try your best. He provides various files that help with papers, formatting, and understanding topics. He is very strict on the rules mentioned in the syllabus but I think they're reasonable. Honestly, a very straightforward teacher which I liked.
Ended the course with 103%. Best professor at FSW. Very clear grading rubrics and has examples of what to do. Extra points if you turn in work early in the week instead of last day. Extremely fair and kind.
The class was very clear and straightforward. However, the feedback was lacking. For a Comp I class I would have expected more feedback to assist students with the beginning of their writing journey.
Massaro is the only professor to reach out during the hurricane to check on us. He made lots of extra points for us to make up the missed work and has given extensions for work since we started back up again. Thank you professor!
Professor Massaro was a great professor. His course was very straight forward, if you do everything required you should have no problem getting an A.
He is awesome! Always willing to help if you are willing to put in the work. passion for the subject makes the class that more interesting. And the class is not difficult as long as you do the reading, complete the extra credits and use the helpful documents in his course files.
He is an okay professor but he relies so much on the perfection of MLA format. He does not really go over it in the modules and expects perfection. There are so many papers like 6 and does not always give feedback.
Professor Massaro is very relatable and understanding. He treats you more like a friend than a student which is awesome. Sometimes his feedback is confusing but he will always clarify if you ask him. Compared to many other professors I have had he is one of the best and actually helps you transform your literature skills into something greater.
Prof Massaro is one of the best professors. He's super chill, funny, and real. He's big on critical thinking and analysis so that is talked about a lot in class. I have learned so much about how to recognize persuasion and fallacies in everyday life. Generous with extra credit and grading. Only four essays and 2-4 short assignments a week.
Professor Massaro(a great professor) actually cares about his students and wants them to pass. He responds quickly also. Each lesson was clear and he made it actually enjoyable to sit in class and learn because he is also funny! I recommend this class, he even offers extra credit!! Even if you don't like reading, the stories he uses are all good.
This professor graded so harshly that my A turned into a C because of one assignment. If you enjoy english and writing, do not take it with this professor. He is super rude on comments and will belittle your work no matter how hard you worked on the assignment. Do. Not. Take. Any. Class. With. Him. He gives little to no feedback on assignments.
I love massaro. He gave a lot of extra credit opportunities during the semester. Four big papers are worth the most points and you choose the topics. Lots of in-class activities and he really pushes critical thinking skills. Young too. Really nice and cares about you doing your best.
He's such a good teacher. He can be a tough grader and sometimes feedback can be harsh, but after that, his lectures are easy. You can always talk to him to help you with assignments and LOTS of extra credit. He tends to finish class early most of the time, and if you turn in work early, he lets you redo it to get a better score :).
He's a good guy and honestly a good professor, really tough grader but his expectations are clear from the beginning. He won't give you positive feedback and just notes what you did wrong. Lectures are interesting and helpful for the homework.
It isnt the fact his assignments are difficult but his grading scale is harsh, and it varies im not sure based on how he's feeling or a justified grade. He doesnt follow his own written rubric on assignments, and will lower your grade if you turn it in "on the due date". He isnt reasonable and can be very smart/demeaning
Makes writing easy and gives good feedback on all assignments. So much extra credit and even a redo paper. REplies to emails within minutes and he has a lot of helpful files. Taking him for composition 2 in fall. Best part is he gives feedback on work submitted early so we can fix mistakes and resubmit for a higher grade. Great teacher
Professor Massaro was a nightmare; his assignments weren't challenging, but his instructions needed to be more straightforward; he also gives so much negative feedback on your papers that he doesn't even bother to say what went well. I don't recommend him; there are better professors out there.
Massaro is the best professor at FSW. Extremely accomodating and helpful. He also allows you to submit work early for feedback so you can submit again for a higher grade. Lectures are funny and laidback.
Massaro is very fair and knows what hes talking about. Expects perfect MLA and is very into rhetorical analysis and logic. Has extra credit every other week and gives time for peer reviews before papers are due. Responds to emails very quickly.
Loved this professor. I took LIT 2000 online. Proctorio was not used but the tests/quizzes were timed. Video lectures are a must watch because the quizzes are based off of them. Very reading heavy BUT the readings were so interesting (and I hate reading). You do have to actually put effort into his class but I wouldn't say it was overly hard.
Lectures were lacking, I could have gone home and done research myself instead of spending a hour sitting down
He is genuinely the GREATEST professor I've ever had!! I've never enjoyed or looked forward to going to a class until his class. He is strict on attendance, but if you're respectful, do the work, and follow his guidelines, then you'll have a great time with no issues. He genuinely wants to see everyone succeed and isn't out to make your life hard!
Professor gives out 3 assignments per week, spring break professor continue to have assignments due during that week. Rough grader, does not give credit for assignments turned in late, even by one day.
If you show up to class and put effort into assignments you will do fine. This class was probably 90% focused on culture and gender, not so much an introduction to literature. Also many many stories of women being oppressed..locked up, used, etc. Extremely interesting content for a course that is called introduction to literature.
Great professor. Gives lots of extra credit all semester long and peer reviews before papers are due. Midterm and final are online. Very passionate about stories and learning about other perspectives. Very feminist and kind.
Professor massaro is the best at fsw. Class is fun and he's hilarious. Big storyteller. Grades papers immediately and he has conferences and peer reviews before each paper is due. Huge on critical thinking and seeing cultural influences. He has a makeup paper to replace the lowest paper grade so that helped.
Prof Massaro was amazing! He's funny and puts the same amount of effort into teaching you as you put into learning and discussions. He is very helpful and responsive, emailing back immediately when I had questions. And the conferences and peer reviews were so helpful.
He grades very hard and when you turn in assignment you can't resubmit. He does 5 to 6 assignments every Saturday and he acts like no one doesn't have a job or go to work on those days.
Worst English professor I ever had. VERY Harsh grader, unclear instruction, few assignments had rubrics. "professionalism grade" which means you will lose points in your grade if you ask for help that is already "stated" (never happened to me, but it exists). No late policy on ANYTHING. He even wrote it in his "cheat sheet" to pass his class.
I REGRET choosing this professor. He's a HARSH grader and gives HARSH feedback. if you make any minor mistakes in your assignments he take points off. he accused me for plagiarism in my essays when i cited my sources. If you're not good at writing essays, you won't pass. i almost failed this class if it wasnt for his extra credit assignments!
This professor was by far the hardest I've had thus far. He gives a lot of assignments at the same time you have papers due; he has unclear instructions. If you email him with any questions, he will tell you to look in the files and never explain what you're doing wrong. No Late Work Accepted. Overall, very difficult.
This was one of the easiest online classes I have ever taken. Although the homework can be difficult, he provided many extra credit opportunities. Very strict on MLA formatting, but it is composition, so that makes sense. He also is very helpful. If you need to take ENC 1102 online, take it with this professor!
He's pretty chill, won't lie. The downside was the assignments, there are about 4 due every Saturday but honestly they aren't hard if you did the reading. I had his class at 8:30 and if he wasn't a good professor I wouldn't have shown up. Be sure to participate in class though, it will make the assignments SO much easier.
I got a 49% AI detection on two of my assignments, and when I tried to explain to him how I wrote everything on my own, he still gave me a zero for the assignment. I got a zero on one paper and was told I couldn't redo it. By the way, these 3 papers take up a majority of your grade. So with just one zero on any paper would bring your 89% to a 39%.
He's very sarcastic funny, he was super chill and laid back but he does give about 3-6 assignments due each week and throughout the semester you have 3 papers to do. There is multiple new stories each week but if you actually read them you'll do good on the assignments. But he is a harsh grader and is very strict. Other than that he wasn't horrible
very lecture heavy and lots of videos to watch, some honestly felt like a waste of time (saying a lot of words but also conveying nothing.) assignment guidelines can be confusing and overwhelming if you do take his class, don't save your work for the last day since you will be rushing to turn it in
He tries to be relatable and funny but when papers are due he gives no exceptions and unless something serious happened to you, he won't give you an extension. Honestly his grading makes no sense and is impossible to get an A.
Easy A - funnny, always gets out early, so many extra credit, peer reviews in class or online, gives extensions if you ask before stuff is due.
Best professor at fsw. lots of extra credit. midterms and final are online. i actually enjoyed going to his class.
I think a lot of his grading is biased and not always factual, but he is a really good professor. He is a REALLY tough grader, but you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. Overall, I would definitely take him again.
Tough grader. The exams are not that easy as he make it seems. He grades totally different when it comes to the essays compared to my Com 2 class especially with it comes to the cite/sources your work. Like I cite my sources and still don't get credit which is weird. I should drop this class during midterm, when I had the chance.
Professor Massaro is a good professor. As long as you put in the effort and time into his papers and assignments, he will give you feedback on what to work on and give you a passing grade.
Be aware that he makes no exceptions with late work. Overall, I found his feedback to be very helpful and you can tell he actually wants you to get better with writing. Make sure you do not miss any deadlines or your grade will suffer. Life happens and there could be at least one late work exemption per student.
His class isn't difficult just beware he is not a lenient grader. Made 2 mistakes that dropped my grade drastically to an F from a B. Was eventually able to build it back up to a D+. There was no way to achieve a C as he does not round up grades or offer extra credit. As long as you pay attention to making everything is correct you will be good.
SO much extra credit. 4 papers throughout the semester, with an optional one to replace your lowest grade. Lectures are short, he normally lets you out early. Very honest prof, read his rules and follow the guidelines to do well in the class. NO LATE WORK! Be sure to submit everything on time, normally 3-4 writing assignments per week due Saturday.
Professor Massaro is great! There are tons of optional assignments to bring your grade up if you need, and an optional paper that replaces your lowest graded paper. He lets us out of class relatively early, and his lectures/assignments are straightforward.
Amazing professor! So happy I had the chance to be his student! You have 4 paper in your semester and each subject are SO great to work with! For the first time, I enjoyed writing papers because he brings interesting topics and gives you a lot of freedom to chose your own subject! Loved the class, really funny and down to earth!
As long as you actively participate in/care about this course you'll do great. The only concern of note is that Professor Massaro's feedback is...efficient? I always either received brief notes on what I did wrong or nothing. No positive feedback, which I know is important to some people. Not a huge issue though, still a great professor overall.
