Coolest guy... talks like the guy from Wild America! Loves Simpsons &South Park
If I wasnt in the self paced class, I wouldve done a lot better grade wise, but he is always willing to help, easy to understand, and has been teaching for 10+ years. Great teacher!
Great guy, always willing to help. Tests aren't too difficult if you do look over all the practice problems on his website.
McCombs is a great teacher, probably one of the best I have ever had for math. He is very clear and gives you tests on what he teaches, so you always know what to expect.
I have taken A LOT of math classes here, and he is head and shoulders above them all. If all the teachers here would take an interest in teaching as much as he does, more people would take math at this level, and actually enjoy it.
Good teacher. helps out with homework during office hours. Helps explain stuff.
Little know class you can't take for credit, but it's offered by McCombs and his buddy throughout the year. McCombs won't even acknowledge it's existence unless you know the password. When you're in his office tell him you want to learn "all things assymtotical" and for the "earthlings to behave."
Awesome teacher. Easy to talk to and even easier to understand. If you have any problems, go to his office hours and he can clear anything up.
Best professor for this class. very clear with examples, homework and tests are based on what you do in class. plus, he's funny.
Awesome teacher, pretty much the best at the school, funny in a boring, geeky way, very clear and helpful made the hardest class in the school pretty easy.

Great professor, no tricks or anything to confuse you. I mean he wrote the book! He went to UNC so he knows exactly how students think. Great man and professor, highly recommended.
Great Professor! Funny and knew me by name...so he was intimate. Class was pretty easy. He taught lessons on Mon. and Fri.--we did our own thing on Wed.(HW problems)! So you really did not have to come to class. He is very down to earth and this was one of my favorite classes/teacher this semester! <3 McCombs
Prof. McCombs is a SPECTACULAR professor. He is extremely personable, approachable, helpful, and dedicated to teaching. He will do whatever he can to help you succeed. If you have any trouble, go to office hours and he'll clear things up. The class is fairly easy, and exams are extremely fair. But, you will learn the material.
You will know calculus after him!
Easily the best professor I've had at UNC so far. Mr. McCombs makes a fairly tedious and challenging subject interesting and understandable without diluting the material. His lectures are wonderfully structured and worth the full 50 minutes every time.
One of the best math professors I have ever had - if you have the opportunity to take a class with him, I highly recommend it! Amazing at explaining calculus - he makes it seem simple and fun!
He was okay.
He is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explained things in a way that was clear and for someone who sucks at math, (i.e. me), it was refreshing. He was always super helpful and willing to work with you to help you understand the material.
Easy going, easy test, easy homrwork and very flexible
Professor McCombs is simply amazing! I would recommend anyone to take a mathematics course with him. He made it fun, easier, and actually interesting!
McCombs is a wonderful professor who really cares about his students doing well and does the most to make sure they succeed. His teaching is clear and this class was extremely easy for me, so if you need an easy math credit, this is the class to take with McCombs.
I hate math. Like, I hate it. But from the first day with McCombs, I didn't mind going to class. His lectures are straightforward and if you just complete the practice questions before the test and understand how you did them all, you will literally make an A every time. He's very helpful with those who need it and genuinely wants you to succeed.
Professor McCombs is funny and nice, but he misses class too much, leaving us to be taught by second-rate professors. He's so far missed 5 classes and that makes it difficult to really learn the material.
Very easy class as long as you do the practice problems before every test. No tricks or overly difficult questions on tests.
He made class very easy and went slowly. Almost painfully so. However, his method of teaching made the class seem so easy. Definitely recommend.
He is an easy teacher and a relatively interesting lecturer with few quizzes or tests.
Great Teacher!
Great Professor!
Math sucks at UNC
Super easy A. Also fun!
GREAT PROFESSOR. FUNNY. Webassign math homework was way harder than the test. Test SUPER EASY. Lectures pretty easy to follow. He doesn't take participation but lectures are essential
HE IS AMAZING! I had the absolute best time in Math 110. I would take any course taught by Mr. McCombs! If you struggled with math or simply don't enjoy it, I recommend taking a course with Mr. McCombs because he is truly helpful and committed to his students. If you do the assigned work, you will be absolutely fine.
Professor McCombs is very funny and likable. The material was pretty easy but be careful because he grades tests very strictly. You don't really even have to go to class since all the notes are posted online.
Professor McCombs describes his course as "for people who want to learn math and live to tell about it." If you want an easy math that makes sense in the concrete and is designed for humanities majors, I would strongly recommend this class.
McCombs is cool and relatable and is very thorough and clear in his lectures. His class is very easy and great for humanities majors (like myself).
McCombs had a really rough semester, but he still found a way to be a great professor. He's a really nice guy and he loves his school. Homework is given weekly, but you complete it in recitation so it's an easy A. Will bump up your grade if he can. Not super responsive with emails, but he really cares about his students' success.
McCombs is a great guy. He is so funny and explained the material well. Super nice and always there if you need extra help. Bit of a slow grader, but not so much that it bothered me. Definitely take him if you have the chance.
McCombs is a great professor and a great guy. He was willing to help out if asked, and definitely cares about his students. His tests are very difficult, however. Be prepared to work hard, this course is far from a easy A.
McCombs is great! This FYS was super fun and easy. Would definitely recommend.
McCombs is a great guy, and it really comes across in his teachings. He's passionate about math, and that may sound like it would make for an uncomfortable class experience, but i was very happy with him in Discrete. Tests are pretty fair if you study the homeworks, which are easy 100s. He also curved our course grades up at least somewhat.
Mark is a really nice guy and willing to help if you ask, but he cancels classes a lot and doesn't provide much time for hands-on work except prior to exams. Lectures do not help with hw. His teaching style just did not work with my learning style-had to hire a tutor and use math center to understand. Stay away unless you are good in math.
Brilliant teacher; understands how to teach math; had him over the summer for calc 1, and he taught a lot of material well in a short period of time; keeps class interesting; actively works to improve his teaching method
Great teacher! seriously recommend him. He is helpful and kind. I am a student-athlete and he is great about making up tests and understanding when you need to be away. TAKE MATH 110 FROM HIM!!!
He is the best professor I've ever met in the math department. If you didn't miss too many classes, you'd definitely pass. The exams were not hard and there's not much homework. He gave really great lectures and plenty of time in class for review.
Mark really cares about his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. Coming from someone who never really cared for math, Mark teaches in a way that is easy to understand and he is usually available when you need help. Only downside to this class were the webassign homeworks. Overall, great professor.
Mark was a really great teacher and he makes sure to care for his students. If you have any questions whether in class or out, he will definitely be willing to help. He was also pretty funny so that made class a bit interesting. Definitely recommend 10/10.
Generally MATH 110 is taught by graduate students, but Mr. McCombs was the head of the MATH 110 department when I took it so he made the exams that all of the sections took. I stopped going to class after the first exam because the web assigns will prepare you for his tests. Just know how to do the web assigns before the exam and it's an easy A.
This professor is a great guy who cares about the material he teaches. He understands that this particular class (MATH118) is for non science/math majors so he does not try to make the class super difficult. The recitations are only mandatory on test days and the homework takes no longer than 20 minutes a week. Overall the class was an easy A.
Mr. McCombs was the GOAT! He is the sweetest guy ever and he cares for each of his students so much. He's very understanding and willing to help you with anything. Im not a big fan of math but he made it a whole lot more bearable with his sense of humor and kindness. Take his class!!
Prof. McCombs is a nice guy, but he is harsh about grades and isnt very caring. I missed an exam because of a medical emergency (that my doctor wrote him a note for) and he still wouldnt let me take the exam and gave me a zero. Luckily, your final replaces your lowest grade, but if he had let me take that exam, I wouldve done way better.
I LOVE THIS MAN. So cute, you never have to go to class (if he doesn't cancel it) and replaces your lowest grade. If you aren't good at math, for sure take this class. you won't regret it!
Professor McCombs was a really nice guy and made the course material easy, but class was cancelled a lot and there definitely could've been more content covered in the time we had. Really nice guy and easy QR credit though!
Material is pretty easy, and McCombs is really sweet! Great for non-math majors and people who may struggle with other math classes. 2 tests, about 7 WebAssigns, and the final. He replaces your lowest test score with the final if you do better on the final! Recitations are only for doing homework, so they are pretty much optional. Would recommend!!
McCombs as good as it gets for proffesors. I took him for Calc 1 and now 118. He doesnt try to trick you, only test your true understanding of the material. Grades on a 10 point scale. Best of the Best. Take him you wont regret it
Mark is a really nice guy, and I think he really cares about his students. This past semester he cancelled a lot of classes, and I don't think he adequately prepared us for the final. He doesn't return emails, but he's very accommodating in person. The webassign homework was overly difficult, and his examples in class are way easier than his tests
Mark McCombs is possibly the most down to earth faculty member you will find in UNC's math department. He's really accessible outside of class and is pretty hilarious. I made a D on my first test, but was able to pick up my grade to B. You should definitely check out his office, it's awesome.
Dr. McCombs is the man! He recognizes most of the people taking this class are non-math majors and makes it so that you can easily pass. There is only one homework assignment due every 2 weeks, so there is not a lot of outside work. Recitation attendance is not required and this class is very manageable.
I love this guy. He is really an outstanding professor. For all you non-math people, he is the one for you. He cares about his students. He believes math is the real magic. He's pretty darn funny sometimes too. He drops the three lowest homework grades and replaces your lowest test grade if your final exam score is higher. Absolutely amazing.
Any teacher that includes memes in their study guides deserves respect. McCombs is a swell guy; he doesn't assign excessive homework and his lectures are extremely interesting and to the point. If you took calc in high school, you'll be fine. Even if you didn't, he's such a great professor that you'll fall in love with the subject.
At first I was unsure whether he would be a good teacher or not, but he has definitely helped me understand calc better. He explains things well and gives good example problems although you still have to do extra practice problems outside of class to do well on the tests. The tests were difficult, but doing practice problems and homework helped.
Great professor. He does a really good job explaining problems. Class attendance does not matter. He is very good about posting lecture notes online and he's very accessible outside of class
I was super scared to take calculus as Pre-Calc was very hard to me and I had never taken calc before but Professor McCombs made me feel very confident in the material and was always able to explain ideas clearly and accurately. I would definitely take again.
Professor McCombs is a great professor. He is very understanding of circumstances going on in your life outside of class. This professor is easy to approach with questions about the material and truly wants to get to know his students.
Mark Mccombs is my main man. He not only cared about our class but taught well and fixed issues with our online homework in a timely manor. Mark drops your lowest exam and homework grades for the semester and his tests are fair and on the content he teaches. He provided us with study guides on the exams and gave us the opportunity to learn calculus
Mark is such an amazing professor for 231, he takes the time to explain topics that students are unclear on. He always has a great attitude and keeps his lectures upbeat and funny which is saying a lot for a calc class. He also does add some personal elements and speaks about his life and actually tries to connect with his students.
Amazing prof! You HAVE to take him. He can be funny at times, and he's very caring. For this class you didn't really have to show up, just look at the powerpoints.
McCombs is the best professor I've had at UNC, he's very caring and WANTS you to pass. He works with you and is super understanding. Attendance isn't taken during lecture, but may be taken during the recitation, and missing class is to your disadvantage since calculus can be a difficult subject. He loves teaching and his students.
Mark is an amazing teacher and person in general. He somehow makes calculus somewhat interesting and genuinely cares about his students. His class is pretty easy and he's a very fair grader, dropping several homework grades and giving us a curve after the final. Go to office hours and get to know him! He has a lot of funny stories.
If you're planning on taking calc, take it with McCombs. I hated calculus in high school and was dreading taking it again but McCombs wants everyone to succeed and enjoy calc so he explains each example as clearly as possible and is willing to work with students to master difficult concepts. He definitely prepared me well for calc 2.
McCombs is just an icon. Makes the material understandable and he is a really interesting person. He gets off topic some and speaks of his time spent on mtv, his heart attack and most importantly his dog, Uma. The class is truly enjoyable and has been one of my favorite classes.
Professor McCombs is one of the best professors I had at Carolina. Truly cares about his students' success. Super, open, fun-loving guy, and good at explaining complex concepts. Literally changed my Math 232 afternoon class to a morning class just so I could have McCombs. Highly recommend!
McCombs is fantastic. He's a teaching professor, not a research professor, which makes him available to actually help students. It's clear that he cares about us doing well. He's also a genuinely nice and funny person outside of class. Discrete is a pretty feared class, but I understood the material because of him.
McCombs is a great choice for Math 231. He posts all of his notes online, which makes attendance optional, however, he is a very funny lecturer, so you will miss out by skipping too many classes. The tests are extremely fair and he will drop a few of your lowest homeworks. If you have taken Calc before, this class will be very easy to do well in.
I took calc one with mark over the summer (5 weeks) and he cut a lot of material out due to time constraints. If you do not need any calc above calc 1 then i suggest taking mark because it really is an easy A if you put in the slightest effort. He is a goofy man but i do not think his class would prepare you for calc 2 especially at unc.
McCombs is one of the best teachers at UNC. He posts his lectures with step-by-step examples so that if you miss anything in class you will be able to easily go back over what you missed. During lectures he will make sure to answer any questions that you have and work as hard as he can to make sure you understand the material. Take him if you can.
If you're crazy enough to take calc at UNC, TAKE IT WITH MCCOMBS! He's extremely caring and if you put in the work, you'll do just fine. He replaces your lowest exam score with your final if the final is higher which is how I was able to escape with a good grade. TAKE CALC WITH MCCOMBS!!!
Mark is one of the most caring professors I have had at UNC. I was terrified to take Calc, but I took it with Mark and the class was a breeze. He makes it very clear what he expects of you, and really wants to make sure that every student understands what is going on in the class. If you have to take this class, take it with Mark.
One of the best professors I've had at UNC. I took him for discrete math over summer session one; he gives very clear expectations and explains the concepts well. If you make use of the resources he provides and put in the effort, you will definitely succeed!
The skill and genuineness of this man cannot be overstated! He's amazing, and the best professor I've ever had for math. He explains concepts super well, has great resources, and is very kind and understanding of students. 100% solid choice.
Prof. McCombs is a wonderful and hilarious professor. while 381 is a somewhat difficult class, he made it easy to take. Your grade only depends on your homework, two tests and final, so everything weighs much. Prepare to work hard because by no means 381 would be a elementary class. The tests can be tough, but if you put effort you should be fine.
Mark McCombs is a genuinely caring educator who enjoys seeing his students learn. It's possible that others could have taught Discrete Math more excellently, but his instruction is quite sufficient if you're willing to study on your own as well. Taking his class was a rewarding experience.
Mark McCombs is the best professor I have ever had. He cares about his students so much and genuinely cares about you doing well in his class. His power points and lectures are very easy to follow, and there are never any surprises on the test as long as you study and do the test reviews. Highly recommend taking his class.
The rare class and professor that will appeal to both those who love math and those who hate it (that's me). He clearly has a profound appreciation for mathematics (especially the artistic element) but is understanding of the fact that the people who are taking MATH 118 do not, at least initially, share that appreciation. Also, hilarious. Easy too.
Professor McCombs is undoubtedly the best professor I have had at UNC. Prior to taking the class, I had heard Math 232 was one of the hardest and one of the most failed classes at UNC. The difficulty level is certainly high, but Prof. McCombs makes it an enjoyable experience. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see everyone succeed.
Prof. McCombs (or Mark), is one of the best professors I've ever had. His class, Math 118, is great for non-science majors and Mark makes it engaging and fun. Although the material is difficult at times, Mark makes sure that you are prepared for the exams and prides himself on never going more in-depth on material than necessary. Mark is a UNC gem!
Definitely take this class if you are not a STEM major. You learn obscure things, but it is seriously one of the easiest classes I've taken at UNC. We only had 5 homework assignments all semester that weren't too hard. Mccombs can get off topic during lecture, but go to office hours or recitation and everything will be made crystal clear.
Take this class its amazing!
Prof. McCombs is by far one of the best professors I've had here. Math 232 is hard, but he thoroughly explains all of the topics and wants you to succeed. If you have to take math 232, definitely take it with him!! He's hilarious during class and makes it enjoyable!
Mark is the man! I haven't taken a calculus class in a long time and Mark really helped with catching up to speed and understanding the material. He doesn't overcomplicate anything and is a godsend for the department. His class made me drop all my plans just to take calc 3 with him next semester. He's THAT good. Study guides are really helpful too
Mark McCombs is undoubtedly one of the best professors/teachers I have ever had! If you are looking for a math professor I cannot recommend Professor McCombs enough. Not only would he teach the class incredibly well, but he would also crack many jokes and tell us stories about his dog Uma! 10/10, will take again.
Prof McCombs is by far the best professor I have had at UNC! His lectures are clear and engaging, sprinkled with funny stories about him and his dog, and pictures of his incredible artwork. He gives very little homework, posts all the notes and handouts online as well as study guides for each exam. Exams are short but very fair. Great class!!
Mark McCombs is without a doubt the best professor I have had at UNC. Going into this class with the notion that "MATH 232 is the most failed class at UNC" is definitely very daunting, however, McCombs really does his best at setting students up for success in his classes. 1000/10 recommend. Plus he has a cute dog.
Mark is definitely the best professor I've had at UNC. Aside from being a great lecturer and teacher of difficult concepts, he is so caring for all his students and wants everyone to succeed. His class is definitely hard, but that's only because the material itself is a lot and often hard to understand. I always look forward to going to his class.
The best professor I have ever had at UNC. Great person and wants students to succeed. He does not judge and is more than willing to help if you make mistakes. I would take him for every single math class if I could
Math89 can be fun and easy with Mark but also pretty boring. Hardly any homework, and Mark is willing to slow down and help people who need it in class or during office hours. Not the class to take if you want something interesting, but he does make the class pretty easy and doesn't want to stress any students out.
By far the best professor I have ever had at UNC. He makes expectations super clear, teaches in an easy to follow way, entertains his class, cares deeply about his students, and doesn't make us do much busy work.
Mark is the man. He genuinely cares so much about students and is always there to help you. The best professor Ive had and I would take more calc classes with him (even though I dont need it). The tests are very reasonable and he provides study guides/helpful worksheets. TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!!
No professor has EVER been so caring. His class is so big, yet he makes such an effort to connect with each student. Whenever you email him questions he responds by the end of the day with a written out pdf that explains the concept with examples. He is so devoted to you learning the material and is an amazing teacher of it.
Prof McCombs is amazing! As long as you use the study guide and do the homework the tests are not crazy difficult. He also tells amazing stories, makes super cool art, and has an adorable dog. Also, his transition to online because of COVID was very smooth and he has been very understanding and flexible with the weird circumstances. 1000/10
Mark is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had at UNC. Calc can be really difficult, but he finds a way to make it make sense. He genuinely cares about his students, and it shows. I seriously considered taking differential equations with him, even though I don't need it for my major. That's how much I love him as a teacher!
Mark McCombs is a true GEM and easily one of the best professors I've had at UNC. Not only is he amazing at explaining calculus, but his personality is 11/10 and he truly cares about his students. I love that guy so much I took 2 calc classes with him and wish I could take another. He also runs an IG for his dog Uma and takes her to campus!!!
Second semester with Mark. He's literally the best professor I've had! His slides are extremely useful! Calc3 can be daunting for some but he made it easy to digest with the slides and 3d diagrams! Study guides are helpful and doesn't test on anything that isn't in the slides. Also drops your first test if you do better on the final. TAKE HIS CLASS
I can not say enough good things about Mark!!! He is simply the best!! I was intimidated to take this class as I have no experience with origami or Illustrator, but he was so sweet and always willing to help me outside of class!! He is also so funny and I loved hearing all his stories. Take this class!!! You won't regret it!!
Professor McCombs cares so much about his students succeeding - he is very specific on what he wants from us and doesn't throw any curveballs on the exams. As long as you know how to do what's on the study guide, you'll be solid. Also, he was super accommodating during this whole pandemic so props to him on that!
Mark is a stand-up guy and one of the most genuine people I've ever met. He's clear from the get-go on what to expect on tests and he doesn't throw any curveballs. He was super understanding when we switched to remote learning and I still learned a lot from his zoom lectures. TAKE HIM!!!
McCombs is the best professor I've ever had. He tries to make the material as easy to understand as possible. He is so kind & loves to tell anecdotal stories about his life to break up the monotony of math. It's so obvious that he really cares about his students and loves what he does. I took MATH 231 & 118 with him and couldn't recommend him more.
Professor McCombs is an amazing teacher. You will not regret taking his class. His notes are the best math notes I've ever seen, if that makes any sense, that basically take all the crucial info from the textbook. He cares so much for his students that it might make you cry, like it almost made me. I finished with a 95+ .
only reason I passed calc 1 with an A. take any class you possibly can with this man.
This man is a Carolina gem, and he shaved his head to teach us math. He works extremely hard as a teacher and is insanely caring about his students. He teaches you how to think about math, and grades generously so long as you can show that you understand the material. Overall this class was awesome and McCombs helped me remember that math is cool.
McCombs is legit the GOAT. He genuinely wants to see his students do well and succeed in his class. He does everything he can (especially during quarantine) to help us out and is very understanding of the difficulties of life. He also has an amazing grasp on the materials and teaches the most challenging concepts in ways that makes them seem simple
He really cares about students and it shows! Lectures are funny and he does his best to be entertaining. Grading was extremely reasonable and i would take again. My only complaint is that because of COVID we dropped most of the last unit which I need to learn for future courses, but nobody was expecting this all to happen!
I hate math, but McCombs made it so much better. He is super funny and approachable. I like how he doesn't lecture over anyone's head like some STEM professors do!
I honestly do not understand the hype behind McCombs. He is an incredible person and funny, but I found it way more worth my time to not go to lectures. However, tests are fair and it is not hard to do well on them.
What a great guy. McCombs was such an understanding professor and I truly enjoyed math class with him. He explains hard topics in a very understandable manner and has very fair assessments. At times he was a bit difficult to get ahold of, but I am really glad I took him. Plus his dog is adorable!
Mark is as great of a guy as he is a prof. Hes funny and a good lecturer. He tries to put in content in a different light, often with visuals, that really helps students who are confused. I was always intrigued with his origami and videos of his dog, Uma. 232 will make you put in work, but Mark was a crutch I dont think I couldve done without.
The hype about McCombs is REAL!!! 381 can be really confusing, but McCombs is always very clear about the concepts he is explaining, and is really kind as well. Fair tests and homework. Honestly, if you read the textbook before and do his practice worksheets you will succeed. If you're struggling, go to office hours, he's a damn LEGEND
Math 381 was a very confusing class. However, Mark allowed us to have around 24 hours to take each of the tests, which was great. It was also open notes, so thank god for that. The only downside that I had for McCombs is that he would occasionally not show up to class or start class late. Also, sometimes he can make problems confusing.
Easily the best professor to grace the math department. He is very caring and accommodating (sometimes a bit too much for my level). He is great at explaining concepts and truly cares about his students. I also took his Math 89 seminar, which was great too. If you need a math credit or easy math class, I would take him over anyone.
Dr. McCombs is a true gem. He truly cares about his students and is very accessible outside of class. He will help you learn mathematics.
Professor McCombs is a savior to the Math Department. Tests got extensions due to power outages, and in many classes, he would spend the entire time answer questions we had on the past lectures. Lots of examples were given to us and MyMathLab used more for practice and completion rather than correctness on the first try, as homework should be.
McCombs is the most understanding, hilarious, and down to earth professor in the math department, if not UNC. Calculus isnt the easiest subject and McCombs understands that. He makes class entertaining and ensures youre learning things. Any complaints I have for this class are due to other professors trying to tell McCombs what to do. 10/10 class
What a king. He's so respectful and funny and will always help with questions. Hands down the best professor I have ever experienced. Take him if you can!
This class was online for Fall 2020. All of our midterms were open note and you had the whole day to take them. He does tend to tell a lot of stories during lectures, so I preferred learning at my own pace and if needed, all lectures were recorded. Participation was optional for class and recitation, and grades were two midterms, final and pearson.
I would most recommend this teacher for those who are very bad at math or those very good. For those very bad, McCombs is patient and really works hard to help you understand. For those very good, his teaching style allows you to follow your own learning style. Overall, amazing teacher. About COVID: VERY understanding about tech issues
Professor McCombs made me excited to go to class. Lectures are often times off topic, and I did self-study way more than I learned from notes. However, he is such an understanding person and is so so patient. Grades slowly, but generously. Your grade is pretty much all tests, but he is straightforward about content and practice matches the exam.
Dr. McCombs is simply excellent. He made sure to answer every question a student asked him during class, and it was abundantly clear that he wanted all of his students to succeed. Genuinely kind and caring, and a very capable instructor too. His dog, Uma, made regular appearances as well!
Great and funny professor and class :)
He is so amazing! Very funny and always there to lighten up class and help us learn. Calculus is always hard, but he was very accommodating and tried his best to give us extra help this year due to the circumstances. Everyone in our class loved him and his dog Uma!
Prof. McCombs is a very caring guy. As long as you do your best and follow along with the lectures (that he records & puts on Sakai) you'll do fine. He's super lenient with deadlines & assignments and wants to accommodate every student. I despise math but was able to pass with almost no issue, all thanks to McCombs.
While the lectures could get a little off-topic, McCombs clearly cares about all of his students and wants them to succeed. He gives very generous partial credit on exams and his grading scale is also very generous.
One of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He likes to tell stories and make things personal, and sometimes he'll go off on a tangent and only does 2 questions in a class period. He gives you 24 hours and open notes on tests, but that hurt me when I had to take the final in 3 hours with no notes and no calculator. There are both pros and cons here.
Professor McCombs was very down to earth and kind, however, if I had not taken calculus in the past, I would have struggled a lot in this class. The lectures were unfocused and we only covered about two or three practice questions per lecture. There's a time and place for that, but I felt very unprepared when it came to the final exam.
Mark McCombs was a great choice. His lectures were recorded and he provided so many resources along with ample office hours. Your grade is heavily influenced by your midterms and final exams so be sure to do well on those two assignments.
I really don't like math. That being said, I looked forward to every lecture that I had with Professor McCombs. He is such a caring and funny guy who makes calc a digestible class. His classes are quite unstructured and he tells many stories, so if you require structure his teaching style might not be for you. Online 231/232 was tolerable bc of him
Amazing person, cares for his students. Class is loose structured and deadlines as well, he ended up extending the homework deadline until the last day of class. Very accommodating in general and answers questions very well. Would recommend more if you have previous knowledge of the subject.
Professor McCombs was absolutely amazing and always made class enjoyable. He always tries to relate to students, and is understanding of the stress of school. He is very flexible with hw assignments. The only complaint I have is how much of our grade depending on the final. The class avg on the final was a 66 and it counted for 38% of our grade.
McCombs is a great guy, funny yet accessible and his class was one of the best parts of an online semester. Deadlines are flexible. But he gets diverted a lot during lectures, and though his stories are hilarious sometimes there are too many. The lack of deadlines also makes it easy to procrastinate, so don't take unless you can keep a schedule.
I love math so calc 1 wasn't too bad for me, but McCombs is an awesome professor and he made calc at UNC bearable! The exams are straightforward and aren't meant to trick you. Make you sure you pay attention in lecture and PRACTICE problems! He's a cool guy and is very passionate about calc/math. Definitely put in the effort to learn to do well
Take Math 118!!! Mark is such a sweetie. Easiest class I've ever taken, though maybe it was because this was all online. Mark is the most genuine and caring professor I have ever met.
I hate math and had to take Calc 1 and 2 for my major. I took calc 1 with him and he made every day fun and digestible. I refused to take calc 2 with anyone else. There were a few times when he would re-teach a whole class because no one understood and he said that was on time. Also he is hilarious.
I loved Professor McCombs! I was not a fan of math at all until I got to his class and he just made learning so much easier. The class was so much fun and he was very easy to talk to. The class is test heavy, but it is not impossible and if you work for it u will definitely get higher than a B.
Mark is an incredibly fun individual. He had a bit of problems this semester with family issues and was unable to attend class, but made sure we still got lectures on the material in an appropriate timely manner. He was very understanding of our problems with online school and made taking math online enjoyable. I could not recommend him more!!
Like your cool, hip grandparent.
McCombs is the best!! He is so funny and you will definitely meet his dog. Makes class fun and engaging. If you have to take a math class definitely try to get him!!!
He's a great person but a HORRIBLE TEACHER. Lecture feels like a waste of time because he gets distracted easily. I can see he's loved by many but as a teacher, he's awful, especially for math (he teach math with powerpoints instead of writing out work......).
Frankly, I was terrified to take MATH 232. However, Dr. McCombs made it worth it! Review his slides, worksheets, and practice exams, and you'll do well. He's super caring and does a fantastic job of making complicated topics easy. I never post on RateMyProf, but I wanted everyone to not worry too much (like I initially was). Only take Mark!!
Mark is such a 10/10 professor!! I took this class to just get a credit, but I ended up really enjoying it- the tests are easy if you pay attention to lectures. Mark is nice and funny and always talks to us before class and I liked that he did that instead of just jumping into the lesson. Plus he always shows off his pets which is a crowd pleaser.
If you like dad-esque jokes and stories strung into your lectures, this is the professor for you. McCombs is, by far, one of my favorite professors because he genuinely wants us the learn the material, explains the concepts in simple ways, and tells fun stories (ask about the platform shoes)! Tests are not bad & straightforward.
BEST PROF. Mark is so caring and always tells the best stories. Every class is a show! I was more than fine skipping classes occasionally and just reviewing the slides. He gives a LOT of partial credit on exams, and his grading scale is super generous (90-100 A). Take him if you can!!!!!!!
Professor McCombs was honestly a really nice guy but SO boring to listen to. It was so hard to focus on what he was saying. He did provide a lot of great resources and was always available during office hours and via email.
Mark seems like a nice guys and is fun to talk to, but his online teaching skills are subpar. He didn't stay on topic, which made it difficult to stay engaged and follow the learning material. Additionally, he is inaccessible by email. I might have liked him better in-person, but I wouldn't recommend taking his online class.
MATH381 is a super confusing and scary class but if you can take it with McCombs DO IT! Hes your best option! This class was not easy at all, but he does try his best to make it better though. Hes super funny and relatable, but sometimes at a cost. He often goes on tangents and skips around material in a confusing way. But hes still a good prof!
Very good Prof. Easy class. No textbook. The grading policy is very understanding and he tries to make sure everyone receives a good grade. Best math prof at UNC for sure.
Mark is a gem of a professor, and a wonderful choice for calc 1-3... Ask about Uma!
Please do not take this class. I read the reviews and thought it would be easy and it is the opposite. Professor McCombs is a nice human being, but likes to go off topic during lectures and doesn't reply to emails. Tests are weighted really heavily and his testing format is weird, so it's a recipe for disaster. Do NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
He goes off track a lot but he is a super nice guy and cares about your well-being. His lectures are great and he keeps students engaged.
Prof. McCombs was a very relaxed professor, and math 118 is very straightforward. I did not find the material difficult, as long as I studied a bit. He goes off topic during class a lot, but seems to be very kind. I probably would not take one of his classes again, it was test-heavy, and did not feel rewarding.
McCombs is more understanding than most professors but generally, my style of learning did not fit his style of lecturing, where he just reads off his notes without working out problems. I honestly learned more from the substitute professors than from McCombs himself. The class is graded on two tests (28% each), homework (10%), and a final (34%).
Mr. McCombs is truly a great guy, he is so funny and I can tell he cares about us. I am not good at math so the structure of this class was a little too loose and unstructured for me- the tests weigh a LOT so beware. He was out of class the last full month of class before final (due to valid medical reasons), so we sorta got screwed with the final.
He shows there's a difference btwn being a nice person and being a good professor. Unfortunately, i think I would've done better if I had a diff. prof. He has all hws (which is not even many problems) due the night before the tests, and this didn't help me practice outside of class. Plus his teaching style with powerpoints is worse than i expected
Nice guy, but was very slow at teaching and only read off slides. Class skipped a bunch of topics that every other discrete class covered, so if you want to learn discrete math comprehensively, take another professor. Tests were fair if you study. Not much homework.
McCombs is a great person and his tests are easy. DO the test study guides and memorize how to solve those problems, they are basically the test. McCombs was out the last 1/3 of the semester due to any injury and the class was awful after that The final exam was HARD mostly because McCombs was out but also because he didn't make the exam.
Prof. McCombs is a really cool guy. His lecture can be unstructured sometimes but it is not hard to follow him. Also, everyone with 90+ gets an A, which is truly amazing.
HARDEST CLASS EVER. Came in as a math major, thats gone. Failed the midterms, saving grace is that he replaced my lowest midterm with the final bc its higher. so my final ended up being 62% of my grade, that was only because of a 12 hr proof grind session. Thought I would get the F but ended up with a C-, he bumped it up to a C. Nice guy though.
Mark is a very emotional professor who cares about his students. His notes and test practices are very good, I can learn almost everything from his notes, and if you can do a dozen test practices well, then you can do very well in the test.
Mark is a great professor. I only had him for half of the semester, but while he was here, calc was one of my favorite classes. His notes are extremely clear and easy to understand. Midterms were also clear and lots of partial credit was given. The common final was hard, but doable too. Practice problems are key for this class.
Though he had to step out halfway through the semester for health reasons, Professor McCombs is one of my favorite teachers at UNC. His lectures are informative and often injected with humor, he makes sure to properly prepare everyone for the tests, and he likes to end class with pictures of his dog. An awesome teacher who I highly recommend.
We are a month into the semester and he has changed office hours within 20 mins of it starting at least 10 times (was in the zoom waiting room when he canceled). Asked him to meet at another time, & he said he would at 1. It's 30 minutes past with no email, no contact, no cancelation. Feels like he doesn't care abt his students. DONT TAKE HIM
I wrote the review from February 2nd and felt a need to give him a slightly better rating. He did contact me, although hours later, to ask me to meet him the next day and allowed me to turn the assignment in after our meeting. Still not too happy, but it was better
An amazing professor that cares about his student. We are halfway through the semester and he made me feel confident in this class.
Literally the best professor there is. He genuinely cares about every student and makes sure that is known. Class is not hard AT ALL. Super easy QR
This man is great, and has a lot of passion for what he does. This is probably the best FYS at UNC!!!
Took his origami seminar. It was super easy, relaxing, and the perfect mental break from all my other stem classes. Mark is a cool guy. He's the man.
Mark is one of the kindest prof's I have had at UNC! This class is a super easy QR gen-ed, and Mr. McCombs obviously cares about his students, their success, and UNC basketball!! The class is only graded on MSL homework and 2 tests and a final, but the final replaces one test grade if you need it. His study guides are super helpful for the tests!
McCombs is amazing! The best professor at UNC, he really cares about his students.
Seriously for someone who isn't amazing at Math, take McCombs. When I first saw the coursework on the FDOC I assumed I was going to fail. He makes everything so easy and while yes some of the tests have 1-2 questions that were a lot harder than the study guide overall he sets you up very well. He also curved our final scores, 95% class passed.
He's an extremely nice person but his class is hard. Homework assignments took hours to do and he's not great at lecturing - he goes 0 to 100 real quick. Problems on exams can be harder than what you've learned/practiced and those are usually worth a lot. Often he posted answer keys and they would be wrong, he seemed confused a lot of the time.
The best professor I have encounter at UNC! He is literally the best. I am currently taking him over the summer and though the work load is a little heavy and fast paced, he makes it so easy to manage. I got a B- in pre-calc, but with Mccombs, I scored a 86 on my first exam. HE IS WORTH IT! He actually cares about his students.
Discrete SS1 online: McCombs might be the GOAT professor. He is down to earth, helps with any question (even hwk), and puts himself down to make us feel better when concepts are difficult to understand. He's sometimes late or just leaves in the middle of class, but no one really minds. Notes are laid out on Sakai and you can tell he loves his job.
He is amazing! I was so scared taking calc because I'm not really a math person but McCombs makes the content digestible. He is also very flexible with due dates and cares a lot about his students. You can tell his passion is teaching and interacting with students. TAKE CALCULUS WITH THIS MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark is one of the best professors and his origami class is amazing! If you have the opportunity to take it, DO IT! It's so easy and fun. All you do is fold paper and as long as you do the super easy, in-class assignments, you'll get an A. He doesn't take attendance so you don't have to go but then you'll have to do the assignments at home alone...
I had a different professor for calc 1 and got a 32 on my first exam. With McCombs for calc 2, I got a 95 on my first exam. His tests are very fair and wants you to succeed. His notes are the most helpful resource. Gives a lot of resources for practice. Use those & you'll do amazing on the exams. Funny guy and always answers questions in class.
Super funny and has a cute dog. He's very understanding and cares about his students. I hate math but if I pass this class it's only because I took McCombs, or else I would probably fail. His tests are a very heavy percentage of the grade which is a little scary (90%).
Professor McCombs is a great man, and can be a great professor depending on how good you are at math. His notes are a powerpoint that you click through and sometimes full steps can be unclear, however he is always accessible outside of class and would always meet with me outside of office hours if I needed it. Very easy to do well in this class.
This was the best professor I'll probably have in my entire life!! He is the kindest, funniest, most engaging, and most understanding guy. He truly wants all his students to succeed and treats us with so much respect. You would be sooooo lucky to take a class with him. Everyone loves him! I can't say enough good things :)
Great lectures! Mark makes calculus bearable. If you need MATH231 Mark is your guy!
Mark Mccombs is easily the most caring, respected professor on campus. It is clear from his lectures and teaching style that he cares about the well-being and success of his students, and this shines through during office hours, and in and out of the classroom. If you need MATH 231, make your schedule around Mccomb's section of it. He's worth it.
Very sweet and understanding.
The course structure is simple, and the lectures are always available online if you miss a class. Office hours need to be more consistent, and recitations can be unhelpful. Practice problems constantly and get clarification; McCombs will help you! He also gives away points and drops assignments as a bonus!!
Mark has been the best math teacher I've ever had!!! The assignments are very easy if you pay attention in class, and can be done in literally 10 minutes sometimes. He made class fun to come to and is very understanding.
Professor McCombs is an amazing person, he truly cares for his students. However, if you would not like to spend a lot of time outside of class trying to understand the material, you shouldn't take this course. His lecture slides are unclear, and he doesn't really lecture well. The class isn't organized very well either.
Attendance is totally optional. I only attended class on exam days and still received an A by studying the textbook and lecture slides on my own time. I definitely recommend MATH 118 with McCombs for non-stem majors to fulfill their Gen Eds. I do not consider myself good at math, yet found this class entirely manageable.
I have never been a good test taker when it comes to math exams, and 90% of your grade is composed of two tests and final ( no exaggeration). Homework is 10% of your grade and is based on accuracy; there are no do-overs. There are very few grades to determine your final grade, making it difficult to succeed.
Mark is a VERY nice person, let me get that out of the way. I enjoyed his anecdotes and he also had a generous grading system and I thought all the tests were of a fair difficulty. That being said, I don't think he is a good teacher pedagogically. His lectures were just clicking thru slides w/o doing work live which doesn't help learning imo.
Professor Mccombs is an amazing guy but not the best professor. He is very caring and sweet to his students but his lectures are often unclear as he doesn't provide work and presents math on a powerpoint. During class, he would tell stories pertaining to his life and not math. He tends to curve grades and will extend homework deadlines if needed.
Mr. McCombs is a great professor and cares about each one of his students. You will need to put additional work into learning the material, but he provides so many resources and worksheets for extra practice. He hosts office hours a few times a week, moves back homework and test dates if needed, and heavily curves the final.
Let me say McCombs is a very caring professor. His lectures were well written but clicking through slides in math didn't really help us learn. He made typos on our final exam, forgot to give us a formula, and said he couldn't get an answer to a question. Great guy, just a bit scatter brained. Tests are worth a lot of your grade.
His grading criteria are very straightforward; you're able to calculate your grade before the final. On the tests, he offers partial credit for work that proves you know what you're doing, even if you might end up at the wrong answer. The lectures are so entertaining and he really cares about students. Probably my favorite professor at UNC.
Fair grading system with optional lectures overall make this class relaxed. However, homework can pile up. Lectures were informative but not very helpful for me since he often went "too in depth" for certain concepts rather than doing more practice problems. The two midterms were easy but the final was very difficult. Best prof for math 231.
Professor McCombs is a really great guy, but his lectures are not super helpful. He gives a fair amount of homework. He holds office hours. Gives extra credit.
I really wanted to like Prof McCombs cause he is a really cool guy, but I don't think his class is very helpful. He goes on long tangents which can be entertaining but wastes a lot of time. He also isn't great at explaining problems. You're graded almost entirely on exam scores. Not bad but would take with someone else if learning for first time.
He had personal issues this semester, but he was still so accommodating despite it. I really like him, and he tried to make the material in this class as digestible as possible. If you just study and memorize the methods he gives, you'll do good in this class. Beware, 90% of your grade are based on tests, so that does make it harder to do well.
There's no denying he's a likeable man, but not a great professor. Lectures were fine, but reading off a slide didn't help anyone. Many topics were not covered due to running out of time, HW was never graded on time to be helpful for the exam. Extremely scatter brained. If you need 381 for future math classes, take it with someone else.
Professor McCombs gave great lectures, and was very clear and helpful in teaching the content. Tests are worth a lot in this class (final is 38% of your grade), but they're super straightforward. He can get behind in grading, but his lectures and resources made up for it. Easiest math class I've taken at UNC.
Most understanding math professor ever. I don't like math, but the casual structure of his lectures was encouraging & made calculus approachable. He extends HW deadlines & provides his own practice worksheets (not graded) which are very helpful. Unlike other egotistic profs, he's sympathetic towards students who have real lives outside of school.
Professor McCombs tries his best, our semester he was having a hard time and still showed up with plenty of jokes. However, his teaching was clicking through slides, making it hard to actually learn the material. Tests are nothing like practice. Never answers emails but curves and is flexible with deadlines. Uma superiority!
McCombs is a great person that cares for his students but I EMPHASIZE DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU RELY ON LECTURES, NOTES, OR ORGANIZATION. You have to 100% teach yourself as his notes make no sense and he goes on long tangents in class. he is very unorganized and slow with grades which made it hard to even know what material we should be learning
The greatest professor there is.
Prof. McCombs is genuinely one of the kindest people ever. He is very understanding and really wants students to succeed. Midterms were not very hard at all. He makes PowerPoints for lectures and doesn't solve problems by hand in front of you, so if that's not your thing then it may make this class a bit tougher. But I rlly enjoyed this class!
I found this class EXTREMELY hard (I'm a math major plus scored the highest on 2/3 of the exams for context of difficulty). The exams tested random concepts. You can definitely take the class and still do well, but skip class and do the highlighted text book problems instead. Great partial credit, so show ALL your work/thinking. Slight curve.
McCombs is sweet and funny, but definitely grades a little bit harshly. You can have a very solid grasp on the content and still not do very well on exams. His notes are amazing, though his lectures can be a little confusing. Do the textbook problems and extra worksheets he gives; you really have to put in that extra effort to get an A.
This is the easiest math class you can take at UNC (professor calls it "math for tourists"). As long as you go to class, you're fine, and he's always available for office hours. Only graded by a few tests and one homework grade, but your lowest test grade can be replaced by doing better on the final. His lectures are hilarious and entertaining!
Don't even need to talk about professor McCombs. He is exceptional! The most caring professor I have ever had. Please take him I gurantee that he is the best math professor you can take. Matthew, a TA in his class, is also the best TA I ever had. Both made this class one to remember!
Incredible professor. Clear explanations for difficult concepts, and makes lectures entertaining with anecdotes and jokes. Always willing to answer any questions you might have, and ensures that your question is answered before moving on. Couldn't recommend him enough.
Prof. McCombs cares about teaching and cares about his students. Lectures feel more like a conversation between him and the students, so I felt like I really got to know him beyond being a professor. His slides have everything you need to know. Make sure you're doing practice problems and applying the material as you go.
This man is the goat his stuff is very easy and he is very lenient just do the HW and review a little for the tests. The tests and FE exam are not difficult at all.
this man broke his femur trying to barricade the door during the shootings to protect the students he gets a 5/5 no matter what
Wish you recover soon and well! He is funny, has clear lecture and expectation, lenient, and understanding. He makes Calculus easy for you.
(I only had him for half a semester, so that's what I am basing this off of). I thought that his lecture slides were helpful. The homework was harder than lecture examples and was around the same difficulty or easier than midterms (But doable). Have heard that people had difficulty contacting him. Lecture pacing wasn't that helpful.
Super caring and awesome!!
Great class and great guy. By no means a super easy class but its great for non-STEM majors.
Mark truly is a kind individual. However, he is not a good lecturer. The class structure itself was disorganized with constant revisions to the course schedule and lack of consistent office hours. Test and homework scores took a month to receive back which left many students questioning where they stood in class.
Great professor.
Professor McCombs is truly one of the kindest and most understanding math professors. His lectures feel like a casual conversation, making the material much more approachable. Leverage unstuck ai alongside the practice worksheets he provides for great prep.
Best professor for math 231. He gives study guides for all the tests, and those study guides outline everything that is on the test. He also gives a lot of partial credit for your work, and although his lectures sometimes feels confusing, he makes the tests very manageable. He's also a very fun person so it makes me want to come to class
Made his own study guides and practice problem sets (solved himself) for every exam, explicit about what you need to know/don't need to know, and his lectures are so well thought-out and detailed with examples, etc etc. The most caring prof I've EVER had, loved discrete so much bc of him. PLS take him if you can, it will make your life easier
My whole entire heart to Mark. Truly. As a person and a professor. Workload is very fair, as are exams. Lots of office hours available, and he is a very engaging lecturer. 52% of your grade is midterms, 38% for final. 10% homework. Every kind thing you hear about him is true. I feel so lucky to have been his student.
Mark McComb's class was overall excellent. He gave detailed notes and slides in Canvas for each lesson, followed by corresponding homework assignments. However, the downside of this course was the lectures. The lectures consisted of McCombs reading off Canvas sides, which may not be useful or a great use of time for many students.
His lectures are a bit disorganized and he speaks quietly but besides that, he is a very good professor and has a good heart. Grades very fairly and gives lots of partial credit. Make sure you read the textbook as some topics aren't covered in great detail. Overall a good teacher and a great guy.
He is so funny, but it is hard to understand material by his lectures. You practically have to teach yourself. 3 total exams, and 10% homework credit. Had no calc backing coming into it and it has been very hard. TA's help explain some, but you have to do a lot on your own! Other professors give you participation credit and he does not
Prof. McCombs was great. His lectures can be a bit disorganized, but you can truly tell he cares about his students. I enjoyed his lectures, and I would definitely take this course again. He is a fair grader.
Great class for Non-stem majors, however it is somewhat hard to succeed in the class due to it being very test heavy and your grade depends on midterms and the final. McCombs is a very good teacher though and truly cares about his students.
Literally the sweetest guy you will ever meet! I hate math so much, but I could definitely do this kind of "math." An A in this class is 90-100. He drops your 2 lowest HWs. If your final is better than your worst test, it replaces the score. Definitely take this class if you are a humanities major who has never been "good at math."
McCombs is a good guy. His example problems and homeworks were very basic, so I did not feel prepared for the level of sophistication on the common final. I would recommend him, but definitely be prepared to do way more practice than the assigned homework if you want to absorb the material. Midterms were fair and lecture was pretty solid.
Easy during the semester except the exams are basically your whole grade. He is also very unorganized. The final was extremely hard and almost made me fail the course despite having a A the whole semester because he doesn't make the final the other professors do and he doesn't prepare you well.
Best professor for MATH 381! Discrete is a hard topic no matter who teaches it, but McCombs made so much easier. He is really accessible out of class (having office hours almost everyday) which made really easy to get help. The midterms were fair but the final was extremely hard (I found teacher made part harder than common part).
Professor McCombs cares a lot about his students and their feedback. In fact, for this course, he even handed out a feedback form based on RMP feedback he recieved asking what kind of class format we preferred. Very clear and helpful and is always willing to work with students to help them understand and improve. Awesome professor!
if you don't have a religion, get one and pray. If you love listening to people yap about anything other than what you're supposed to be learning, he is fantastic for that! I had to teach myself everything, going to his class and attempting to follow his erratic lectures was a waste of time and money. Save yourself and take it with someone else.
This man did not know this subject. He's probably great at other math concepts that he teaches, but he even said in lecture that he does not know this subject, and he has no idea what its purpose serves. I could go on, but I feel bad, he's a nice guy but for the love of GOD he should not teach this course.
As a person, Professor McCombs is the best! As a professor, I found it hard at times to understand his teaching as he solves his work via talking it out, which isn't a good way for me to learn personally. Really nice guy, I think it depends on if you are able to meet halfway and learn portions from him, and self learn the rest yourself!
So nice. Lectures are pretty boring but they are straightforward. He cancels class from time to time and attendance is not mandatory. There are mylab homeworks for each unit, but they can be done in about 2 hours and they are due the night before the exam. There are only 2 tests which are simple/fair and then the final. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!
Mccombs is a very kind person. I found his lectures to be pretty unhelpful, so I skipped a lot. The best part of the class are the MyLab assignments; they allow multiple attempts, so I ended up teaching most of the course content to myself. PREPARE TO TEACH YOURSELF EVERYTHING.
McCombs is a nice person, but an inadequate teacher. He repeatedly canceled class hours or minutes before the beginning of the class and did not finish teaching us all of the units necessary for the final. If you have the option to take this class with a different professor, DO IT.
McCombs is THE GOAT and famous. take him you won't regret it; He's known for his high heels that he wears one time in class... He cancelled class 3 times and that was really good. However, you will have to learn some stuff by yourself because all he does is go through a slide show and just explain what is done. TAKE THIS CLASS, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
