I took him for Macro. All I can say there is no better professor at IVC for Macro. Write whatever he says in the class. If you have a good recorder you might wanna record his lecture. All HW quiz and exam is from his lecture. If you do not have time to prepare for his exams then just read your class notes

McNeil was an awesome professor who made a tough subject fun to learn. His stories are brutal but they are guaranteed to make you laugh. Doing well in the class is not difficult. Pay attention, take notes, and DO THE HOMEWORK! The homework may take some time but it reinforces your understanding of the material.

McNeil only goes by McNeil. He's a really funny guy and will help you out if you participate in class and show interest. Don't miss lectures and ALWAYS do the homework. He makes the tests pretty easy if you take great notes. Write EVERYTHING! I barely needed the book with my notes and his site + videos.

His Home-work and tests make you learn a lot. Lastly, his humor is out of this world. Don't think too much just take him, you will not regret.

He really knows his stuff. I took a couple of Econ classes at a top 50 university before transferring to IVC, and Professor McNeil is the best Econ teacher I have ever had. He teaches in a way that is easy for students to conceptualize and although the lectures can feel long at times, he is very witty and intelligent when he teaches.

Professor Mcneil is one of those professors who you just have to trust. He has been teaching economics for just about as long as it has existed, and can therefore explain complex ideas in a way that you just get. Do the homework and ask questions. They really help you prepare for tests and Professor Mcneil is more than willing to help.

Took him for the 8 wk Macro course. Spent first 4 weeks on Micro. Poorly structured class, writes random words on board while lecturing. Dates for tests, homework, & quizzes were always changing. Didnt take one of the tests b/c he fell behind in lectures and lost the chance to drop lowest test score. Doesnt use terminology from book. Dont take.

The homework is important because it is the content on the test. He makes youtube videos on his free time that are basically lectures from class, so he cares about his students succes

Listen, I HATE econ very very much. Key to getting an A in this class is WRITE EVERYTHING THAT LEAVES HIS MOUTH and of course read your notes a 1,000 times. If you write down everything and memorize your notes, than an A is extremely possible. There are 5-7 short Hw's, 5 Quizzes and 4 tests. He drops one of each. And watch all his videos!!

McNeil in general is very spontanoues. His class consists of homework, quizzes and tests. The quizzes are in class and are only one class period before the test an then he takes the quizzes and you don't see your grade until the next week. How are we expected to learn from the quiz if you just take it from us and not give it back? Tests are hard!

I think he's a really great teacher IN PERSON. Due to COVID19, his class shifted online and was a mess. He was disorganized, made mistakes with grades, didn't upload grades until the end of the semester, and wouldn't respond to emails. He's one of the best professors I've had in person, but the worst online. Don't take his class during COVID.
