Open to different ideas.
Mr. Moser is the most genuine and honest prof I have had in college thus far. He spells everything out clearly and encourages questions. He doesn't mind going off topic either, which does not bother me one bit. Great teacher!

he's cool as ****.
Mr. Moser is the best professor I've had. He talks to you on a personal level and really wants you to learn the material. Yes, he is easy, but you learn what he is teaching, and isn't that all that matters?
Great Professor. Enjoyed HIS 212 that I took WCV 101 with him. He is very clear and helpful.
I'm not what you would call a history buff, and I've never been overly interested in it. Moser makes it easy and relatively painless for people like me!
Great professor, definitely my favorite. He's very clear about what material he wants you to learn, and if you put forth the effort, you can thrive in his class.
I never enjoyed a history class until taking Mr. Moser's. He loves history & seems to enjoy teaching it. Very clear on the material you need to know, fair in grading & willing to meet with students to further discuss a topic. Easy going, friendly and knows not every one wants to be a HIS major.
The best professor EVER!!!!!
An all around great professor! He really cares about whether or not you get the information, and stresses what you need to know for the exams! If you want to take WCV, I definitely recommend taking it with him!
The class in itself is hard, he only grades you with 4 chapter tests and one final. Make sure you study so you don't get to the end of the semester stressing about your grade.

Mr. Moser usually does the lecture style; talk in front of the class, answer the occasional question. Pretty good teacher though and keeps the audience pretty well interested with cool facts. Just go to class and write down notes and you should be good.
He is such a cute little man, He really keeps you interested in the subject, and if you dont understand, or dont answer the question, he re words it or tries to apply it to something we are familiar with today. Tests are really straightforward, multiple choice and an essay. IF you take notes and read, you will be fine ! :)
Sometimes a little hard to hear over the noise of a lecture hall(1 problem), but if you just listen, you'll hear everything you need to know, guranteed... He's good, he's flexible, and he makes it at least somewhat funny if not easy to understand. Most of the time I skimmed the book, but mainly listened to him! but don't just ignore the book.
For the first time in my college career, not only did I pass a History class, but I made a B in it! He taught in a way that made things interesting - always cracking jokes. I learned a lot, & he was always willing to help. Midterm & final are essay, but he gives you the 2 possible ?s a before & allows you to use an outline during the tests.
Took three different classes with Mr. Moser! He is an awesome professor!! Would recommend him to anyone who wants/needs to take a History class!!!
Professor Moser was a joy to listen to. His exams were long essay style, but if you go to class and read the material you'll be suprised at how much you;ve learned and have to write about. I would sit in on his classes again for no reason other than to listen to him lecture.
Brilliant teacher, always nice to listen to, he makes the history interesting, and I really mean it. Easy final, take him if you need to take a history class.
I highly recommend taking this professor. I met with him several times outside of class and he goes the extra mile in helping his students. I throughly enjoyed his class a lot. You will do a lot of note taking and it is recommended that you do go over notes in the book as well, but his exams are not bad. He takes attendance, come its worth it
AWESOME!!! i loved this guy, very easy class and yet you learn SOOO much
Very nice guy...test are very easy...and material is very clear
mr. moser is very nice and funny. he likes to talk about his children and they say cute things. also, he gives quizzes but grades them very fairly. so far, it's pretty easy. read your books!!!!
Difficult for a 101 class. LOTS of required reading and pop quizes. Never writes anything down when lecturing, so it's difficult to pick out what you think is important.
Prof Moser is wonderful! You do have to do the reading he assigns but he is so nice. I dreaded history going into this class but he has turned out to be the best professor I've had yet. Wouldn't recommend his class though if you don't like reading.
Don't take his class if there a lot of students. he does all he can to help you, but his teaching style works better with small groups- he asks a lot of questions and therefore moves rather slowly when nobody responds...never writes notes on the board as well, so studying can be a little hard.
How can you not love Prof. Moser? He's the sweetest guy and will always help you if you ask. If you don't like reading, don't take this class. He gives pop quizzes on what you are supposed to read. Overall, I think he's wonderful. I wish he'd put his lectures on powerpoint, though.
Mr. Moser is one awesome professor. He is very easy going, and very funny. He sports a mustache like none other. A lot of reading, but I still loved the class.
He is an awesome teacher who is VERY helpful. You have to read because the quizzes come straight from the reading. However, quizzes and tests are very straight-forward. As long as you read and go to class you will do fine! If you don't understand something ask..HE WILL HELP YOU! :)
FANTASTIC TEACHER!!!!! extremely helpful, extremely approachable
I cannot recommend this professor highly enough. Just AWSOME. I loved his class. He was funny and I learned SO much in his class. We have to read alot, but the reading is actually interesting. Pop quizzes happen often. Just read. His final is a loooong essay. But he is super willing to help. If I get the chance to take this prof. again, I WILL!!!
Prof Moser is an awesome teacher, with one wicked mustache. He really knows his stuff, but likes to ramble. There's a good deal of reading, but still not a hard class unless you are completely lazy. I enjoyed it and I would recommend him for sure
Awesome teacher. As long as you do and understand the readings, you will do well on quizzes and tests. He is funny and a good guy. He assigns 2 papers on novels relating to the course, but he helps you with the writing process if you ask for it. I would take him again.
a wonderful professor who genuinely cares for all of his students. he is very easy to talk to and will help you if you ask. there is a lot of required reading, but all of it was really interesting. he makes his pop quizzes (about 6 in a semester) easy. on the final essay you are allowed to prepare notes beforehand.
Moser is pretty damn awesome. I wouldn't bother reading the Alexander the Great book if you have an OK understanding of AG. His class is fun to go to. He is pretty funny as far as professers go. I highly recomend him.
AMAZING. One of the nicest professors ever. willing to work with you if you talk to him. funny and laid back. i recommend everyone take a class with him.
He is a great teacher, and hilarious. If you have very little interest/knowledge in History, do not take his class. His exams are essay, and he is a fair grader. Great person!
Moser knows a lot abut history, but doesnt teach it well. I never had half a page of notes, because he never said anything important. he's really funny, and its an easy class if you hate history. his quizzes are easy, they're multiple choice so you can guess and do well if you dont read. his tests are just one essay question, but easy
I loved Professor Moser! His classes are college level classes, therefore you have to read the material to do well. If you do the reading, you should do fine. However, I do not think counting on guessing is the best policy.
He is a wonderful professor who genuinely cares about his students. He is very approachable and personable, and he has a great sense of humor. His tests are easy as long as you prepare for them, and if you don't do well on one, he will work with you for the next one. HIGHLY recommend this professor!
Very Easy Course. Just keep up with the reading
Very interesting era of U.S. History and Moser's approach allows for understanding the difference between Jefferson and Jackson. Although he seemed kind of out of it the last few weeks, the class overall was great!
Very easy course. Just do the reading
Enjoyed this class, Prof Moser creates a welcoming and open classroom environment. He is funny and easy going. Uses videos and classroom discussion to navigate the rather large chunk of history covered in this course. Exams are essay format, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding of a topic rather than memorizing events and dates.
Professor Moser is great! He is really passionate about what he teaches and has a lot of knowledge. He keeps class very interesting. You can tell he really cares about the education of his students. As long as you read and pay attention the class isn't too hard.
He's cool... But the class is hard... i hate history though so... i guess im just not interested enough to do good
Very good Professor. Quizzes weekly, everything is in the Textbook. Very good lecture class.
I had Moser for a Core Class in ARC. He's challenging and very knowledgeable, also a really chill person and kind guy. We'd have class outside if we asked and he was always willing to have one-on-one time to help work out issues with anything for his assignments. Great guy, but be careful about e-mail communication, he's lacking.
I am definitely not a history person. I went into this class trembling, but Moser is a chill guy. He understands that not everyone likes history so he's not bad. He does want you to learn a little something so you'll have to read a couple chapters but overall it was a great class
Decent teacher in general. The class was a little harder than I expected.
Great teacher, he is very interested in what he teaches....the tests were kind of difficult but you really just need to study a lot.
I love history & the books were interesting. Class was online. Nothing extra was taught or reinforced (why do we pay the same as regular classes?). Emails often went unanswered. I received an A+ for the class, but I can see where this class would be difficult for students who were given no chance to improve with no feedback whatsoever on anything.
Professor Moser was a good experience. Not too difficult the quiz's could have some tricky questions. Point being read all the material (especially the textbook) and his tests were essay format from which he gave 3 questions. To get a good grade just display knowledge of the subject matter.
Moser is a nice guy. If you go to his office hours or schedule an appointment to go to his office, he takes the time to get to know you. If you need a class that gives handouts, DO NOT take this class. You have to rely on your own note-taking and study abilities to pass. Only 3 grades total so you have to do well on everything. Overall laid back.
Since it is an online class, you have to be ready to read and keep up on your own. There will be reading discussion and quizzes every week on the chapters. He does a long time to get things graded however. Also, he takes a while to email back. Exams are essay format! (But there is only 2!)
You will read. A LOT. 70-90 pages from a book each week plus sections from a textbook. Readings have to be done by Monday each week bc pop quizzes can be any day. No powerpoints and he rarely uses the board. You will read 2 books over 500 pages each and a textbook. If you have other reading heavy classes good luck. Essay tests. Nice guy.
He's a pretty easy teacher. He's funny and can occasionally make history fun. Reading is CRUCIAL!!! because we have weekly pop quizzes. There's three exams, they're only one essay question. He gives you the Final exam question TWO weeks in advance and lets you bring an outline to the Final day. Easy A, easy teacher, doesn't grade too harshly.
So he explained at the beginning of the semester what was expected of the students,he is very social and makes class fun! Also why he might not respond to emails is because someone has a very similar email as his! Make sure you have the right one! He was a very nice guy and I would take the class again.
I loved Dr. Moser so much that I took four classes with him. He has a wry sense of humor and is a very fun lecturer. Definitely take Dr. Moser; not only is he a wonderful professor but an even more wonderful human being. Get to know him if you have the opportunity. When you go to his office he might show you cat pictures - I loved him.
Mark Moser is one of those lectures that somehow commands everyone's attention. He is deceptively funny and knows it. He truly cares about his students . There is ALOT of reading. He always tries to have interactive lectures and gets mad if students aren't prepared. There are pop quizzes for about every chapter, so read.
Great teacher. Good balance of expecting respect and being laid back.
He is honestly one of the greatest professors that I can ever be around. He truly cares for his student, and will be willing to stay after class to answer mandatory questions. However, you do have to read in his class. THE BOOKS ARE MANDATORY! But it's not that bad, once you gather all the information. TRUST ME!
AMAZING. He is an expert in his field, and listening to him speak is quite delightful. Be ready to read, however, as his quizzes are mostly based on reading. He is a hilarious person and he constantly tells personal stories in lectures. Take his class and you will not regret it.
He is really passionate and I love him as a person but his class sucks sometimes. Theres an ungodly amount of reading and legitimate pop quizzes, like he will fake you out and make you think there isnt one and then Surprise. He can be intimidating at the beginning, but give him a chance. The documentaries he shows will save you.
Great class and great teacher. You will have to read but honestly the online class isn't test or quiz heavy. You will have to do assessments but they are really helpful, you will learn quite a bit about yourself and how you fit in an organization.
He does not put in grades in Canvas, at all. He is a boring person to listen to and talks from the very beginning of class until the very end of class. Try to choose any other Freshman seminar class than this. Also, if you have to take this class, the movies are TERRIBLE. Make sure you love the Cold War before taking this class!
Mr. Moser rocks! Literally all you have to do is show up for class, sign in, and read the book he assigns for the quizzes. All the exams we had were written but for the mid term he went over what we should study the class before the test and the for the final he gives you the prompt before hand and lets you bring a page of notes to help on the test
Great professor. You can tell he really cares about his students and is always prepared for class. Beware, there are several pop-quizzes and attendance is important. The pop quizzes are easy multiple choice, but you have to do your reading. If you participate and read you'll get an A. 200 level course.
I'm not one for history, but this guy is a great professor. Definitely put things into perspective. Hilarious, makes connections with students. Said the class would be mostly discussion as opposed to lecture, but was mostly lecture. Highlight: entire class built and destroyed our own utopian country
Only 10 assignments throughout the entire semester, make sure you read the quizzes will be on what you have read. If you do not take a quiz you will fail, and if you fail a quiz it will drop your score tremendously.
Really passionate about his subject and makes lectures interesting. He explains things clearly and gives good examples. There are only about 4 homework assignments and 4 quizzes throughout the entire class, so make sure to do all of them and do well.
He's very passionate about the lectures and is also very knowledgeable. All of the tests are essays, which are pretty easy. He requires pretty strong participation, and I think that your grade heavily hinges on it. I did very mediocre work most of the class, but I participated regularly and ended up with an A.
When it comes to value in education this course has 0. Today is May 10. There are at least 6 assign. (dating back to Mar.) that have yet to be graded. Annoying part? Some1 else grades the work(who is overly critical, btw) Discussions are harshly graded, and you don't get feedback for weeks. It's hard to enjoy history from a guy who "mails it in"
This class was harder then I expected. The discussion posts are graded harshly so you really have to make sure you use good examples from the text and explain them well. The quizzes have a 15 minute time limit for 10 questions which does not seem to bad but they are on 40-50 pages of reading. Not paper heavy.
Such a gem, one of the easier history professors. Only requires to participate in class and have the online discussions done. You do have to read because there will be pop quizzes- not hard if you read. The exams are essay-based and super easy if you took notes. btw he doesn't put grades on canvas, would definitely recommend if you want an easy A.
His online HIS208 is just weekly readings, quizzes, and discussion posts. He doesn't really engage much, so I can's comment on him personally. Quizzes are questions that can easily be searched in the reading, and discussion posts are simple as long as you flesh out your ideas.
I took this course online during the summer, so it was ALOT of reading in a short amount of time. I suggest audiobooks to get through the long ones. But I learned alot and Prof Moser graded fairly and was prompt when replying to my emails. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this class but I did. Reading, online discussion posts and essay exams.
This professor is very heavy in readings. If you are a busy person I do not recommend this class. Each week there is two reading assignments and two discussion posts based off of them. The readings are somewhat difficult to understand. Also the film analysis that you do you also get 2 more assignments along with it. And the film was 3 hours long.
Took his class online, I can say it was A LOT of reading and discussion posts to get through. The readings are difficult especially if you aren't much of a history lover. He also grades pretty strictly on the discussions.
Overal he wasnt a very tough grader but this class definitely earns its writing intensive label. Two discussions posts due every Sunday on a lot of readings so if you dont have time to read please do not take this class.
HIS COVID TEACHING SUCKS! He will assign discussion posts with a lot of reading and will slap a grade on it with absolutely no feedback! No powerpoints, no guidance at all! He is not teaching anything, and I hate history so I am struggling.
Maybe if this wasn't online, it would have been better but he actually sucked. I learned absolutely nothing and still barely passed. Would not recommend.
Online class requires no zoom meetings. You will only be grades by discussion posts and essays. It is mostly busy work, but this varies from his in person class I am assuming. The material itself it very interesting, you will read "All Quiet on the Western Front and watch movies like Dunkirk and Paths of Glory. If you like war, this is the class.
Mr Moser will assign discussion posts about the Chapters that you will have to read for the week every Sunday. He grades on a 5 point scale meaning 80,85,90 etc. It is heavy reading, no commentary on assignment unless you get a 100, no rubric for said assignment, and he wants "DETAILS" and lots of details in your writing in order to get that 100.
Really insightful professor and understanding.
There is a lot of reading for this class. Make sure to read before class. There are no PowerPoint slides which means that he just talks. That's what you are supposed to take notes of. I would recommend writing down what he puts on the board. easy class, you have to pay attention in class. He doesn't answer emails.
He is nice and funny but it is a lot of reading. He also does not use PowerPoints so notetaking is entirely up to you. But he does have good communication and feedback.
Professor Moser's WW1 class is very discussion/lecture heavy, so do not expect a timeline or a PowerPoint structured class. Readings are dense and informative, but can be hard to get into. Absences will hurt your grade. Overall, the class was a great learning experience and he is so kind and forgiving to students when life happens.
Says you need to be spending 30-45 hours per week on all your classes homework but also wants you to spend 8-10 hours on a 2 page paper and 3-4 hours on a two paragraph discussion. this guy needs to go back to the retail job he talks about
Headache!
If you aren't good at discussion boards and writing essays you won't pass. There is a discussion board due every wednesday and a quiz due every friday, plus essays he assigns that are normally due monday's and he want all his papers printed and handed into in person because he is old and refuses to really learn about canvas.
No lectures, no feedback. Just read, read, read. Wait, now read this and compare what you read. Horrible. Save yourselves.
The entire time it felt like he was mentally stuck in 2001 rather than 2023. Lectures felt more like rambles and it was nearly impossible to follow (this is coming from someone who has ADHD so take this with a grain of salt). I will give him credit and say that he at least knew that material. Other than that, avoid this course like a plague!!!
You can tell he cares about his students; however, his teaching style is dated. This is a reading and writing heavy course. If you're not prepared to read 40 pages of densely worded texts, and write essays every week, avoid taking this class. If you can do that and get past Moser's ramblings about the past, you'll be fine.
