Good patient teacher. Willing to take all the time needed to go over material if someone doesn't understand.

This guy is amazing. Clear, precise... really likes math. Take his course.
One of the best instructors at AR! I would highly recommend his classes, he's fair in his grading, and very helpful and friendly if you don't understand something
The best math teacher in my entire life. I want to major in math because of him. If you want to take a class and truly understand the material, take Omodt!!!!!
I thought he sucked as a teacher and was very unsympathetic and not understanding if you dont enjoy math
Awesome teacher who makes you want to do math, and possibly pursue careers in math fields. He is very fair on his grading, and is very willing to help any students with their questions. I didn't take a class with any other math professors cuz I liked his style so much. I had him for trig through calc 2... awesome teacher!
Omodt is an excellent teacher. He makes sure his students know what they're doing before he moves on. If you don't ask questions he can't help you. Very energetic for 8am class.
needs to work on his clarity on tests and relate it to what we do in class
dang!!! Omodt is it. He makes his class fun and interesting. Most important though is that he's good at teaching. Formulas and concepts are broken down with ideas that are easy to relate and he makes them easy to understand. If he thought more classes I would take them but he only teaches the lower levels or hardest classes. thunps up and a high 5
Prof. Omodt was OK. He was very understanding if you scored low on the placement test and thought you should have been put into a higher math class.
Mr. Omodt is really an outstanding prof. He is organized, clear, concise, and has a systematic way of teaching that is consistent. He provides many examples. He keeps his Web site updated frequently which is a plus, and sometimes let's you submit test corrections which is positive for your grade and it forces you to understand the material.
very good teacher-patient and expains well, but almost unreasonable difficulty with math exams. You may study frequently and still barely receive a 'C' letter grade because of the exams having too many difficult problems.

Very good teacher, very good teaching style. Able to convey concepts very clearly.
Great teacher. I took his 5 credit prep course in the summer, hoping to get through it and ended up with an A. Relates well to students and is always willing to help. I even went to him for help with other math classes after I was done with his course. Just an all-around good guy. Let me know my score on the final before I chose my grading scale.
He goes through things very quickly and it will seem like you understand but the n when you go do the homework on your own it doesn't make sense. The examples he gives or the test questions do not fairly represent the topic.
Explains content very well.
Is not very helpful, is tough on grading and if you don't understand something he just said in class, he simply repeats himself as if you will understand if said a second time. Really doesn't like the lower level math class, is always referring to his upper level class material.
By far the BEST math instructor I have ever had! Explains things well and is willing to help out when needed. I will definitely be looking for more of his classes to take!
He has high expectations and does not allow notes on tests, but he is a really good teacher, so as long as you go to class and do your homework, you will not need notes for the tests anyway. Not only did I feel like I was good at math for the first time in my life, I actually started to like math (also, he's hot). He is on sabbatical '08-'09
I reeeeally enjoyed his class. He is funny and although he explains things fairly quickly, he makes it enjoyable and hasn't bored me once. He really knows his stuff and is always helpful.
I would rather watch paint dry than go to his class, but he's a nice guy!
Easy class to begin with, so it shouldn't be that hard to get an A. The tests are fair. Explains the problems clearly, can always understand the lessons/his teaching. He's helpful. Has unannounced group quizzes (theyre easy) and allows test corrections. The class is dry though and so is he(typical math teacher)
Mark was a great teacher, he helped when i had any questions.
Great teacher but you have to do the work. You will never make it through this or any math class without doing homework. He does not check it though. Always is helpful with homework questions.
Mark is awesome! Very helpful and clear. I took the online course and had no problem doing the homework (which he doesn't check) or the quizes (only 4 of them). He is very fair and is willing to help in anyway.
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. Explains the material very well, and is willing to take time in class to do so. I'd highly recommend him.
Great teacher, just not for me. We didn't mesh well.
Mark is a great teacher and really spells out the material---which is great for Math. He is the best math teacher you could ask for. He offers extra credit on his tests, will help you outside of class to no end if need be, and he tries to be as clear as possible while teaching. Amazing teacher.
Even though he doesn't grade the homework, there are two things you should know: every so often he does a homework check where you show him what you've completed. It isn't "graded" but it weighs your grade in the end if you're, say, at a high B. Tips the scale to A. Second: if you don't do the work, or don't understand, you probably won't pass.
He's a great professor for the following reason: One, doesn't have you do alot of bull but keeps you on mark for what your tested on. For example, you don't have to show your work on homework in a tideous manner like some other teachers. this helps the student study longer faster, and more enjoyably. Two, he's smart and answers questions well.
Very helpful and accessible. Grades tests and posts the results on D2L the same day. Lots of extra credit opportunities!!!
Overall, Mark is an awesome teacher. He allows you to do test corrections after you've taken the tests. He continuously challenges you to understand the material. Although at times I had to teach myself because I didn't understand the steps he skipped when doing the problems.
By far the best math teacher I've ever had. This is actually the 2nd class I've taken with him. He explains things very well, and is willing to take time in class to go over things. I found him to be very helpful. I would highly recommend him!
One of the best teachers I've had. He present material in a way that everybody can understand. All the students love his teaching style. Plus, there are test corrections. Do all your homework, ask questions, use office hours, and you'll get an A.
Awesome math teacher! A little geeky but he LOVES math and wants you to like it to! He actually cares how you do in his class and wants everyone to do good so he goes out of his way to help you when you need it!
By far the best math teacher I ever had. He wants you to learn precalc and he does it in the most helpful ways. He is also really funny. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Mark is the best math teacher I have ever had. He doesn't give you a bunch of material at the same time like some teachers, he slowly works you up to the material. Very geeky and is really into math. Always in his office so if you don't understand the material you can just walk into his office and he'll explain it to you until you understand it.
One of the best math teachers I've had. Explains concepts thoroughly and is always willing to help if you don't understand. Lots of homework but you don't have to turn it in except for a 3-4 question problem set after each test that can be challenging. Overall, a great teacher and a great guy.
Explains step by step, goes over until you understand, likes that you ask him questions. He is so helpful and takes his time to teach good plus he doesn't give you lots of homework
Had Omodt for Math 1210 and 2210, he is one of the best professors I've ever had. His examples are crystal clear and could not be explained better. He will make you work hard in his class, but is very fair and is the most learning-oriented professor I've ever had. I am now at a 4 year college and miss having such a good professor, seriously.
Great teacher! He is very fair and generally exciting to listen to. If you have questions at all, he is more than happy to help.
Mark is a very nice professor. He will answers questions and he is truly there to help you, but ask!! His tests are extremely hard and there are pop quizes. However, the quizes are only one or two points,so don't stress! This class is no cake walk, but if you keep up with the daily homework you should be ok! Best of luck!!
The BEST teacher I have ever had. This is no euphemism, he really is. Knows his material like the back of his hand, tests are clear and fair. He grades fast and allows you to "correct" your own test to get some extra points. I learned Calculus after taking a two year break from math, and did well with his great instruction. TAKE HIM!
One of the best professors I have had hands down. Really knows the material and is very helpful. Clear explanations and fair tests. You will leave his class with a great understanding of the material.
Though he is very willing to help, the work load is WAY beyond 5 credits. Biggest thing is that he taught backwards. He lectured on new material only at the tail end of each day, leaving us to figure out the homework on our own. He had to spend the majority of class answering the questions based on concepts he didn't explain the day before.
You don't have to turn in your homework which is nice but it helps if you do it. Calculus is hard so you have to study! I recommend taking trig with him before. He is always willing to help you during office hours. Don't take with hard classes, it will take the majority of your time.
One of the best profs I have ever had. He takes the time to explain things clearly and review things to make sure you learned them. Gives hard tests and some mandatory homework, but is extremely helpful outside of class. Use his office hours!
Best professor I ever had. He takes time to make sure that you understand and not just do calculus. He knows the material very well, so his teaching is very clear.
An excellent instructor. The material wasn't easy and his exams made sure that you knew the material very well. Not only did he try in every possible way to help students understand the material and improve their grades, but also enable students to approach him with great ease and comfort. Mr. Omodt loves his work, is professional, and is humble.
Mark was a great professor. He was very clear and always gave opportunities to get a better grade. I love that he has us correct our tests afterwards so we know what we did wrong.
Great teacher. Lessons were easy to understand and legitimately interesting. Can't wait to take another class with him.
Mark was an AWESOME teacher! He explains things clearly, and wants to make sure everyone in the class understands! I had never taken any trig before, so I didn't know how it would go. It was somewhat difficult for me, but if you study, do the homework, and ask any questions you have, you can do well. He is always available for questions!
Great teacher. Requires you to talk to him for help when needed. Great teaching style and very fun to work with.
he is awesome! really helpful.
Really easy and good class. He help his students a lot. his explanations are very good and helpful.
It has been a few years since I had him in class, but he is the best math teacher you could ask for especially if math isn't your forte. His teaching is incredible, he'll bend over backwards to help you and figure out a way to help YOU actually LEARN the material. One of the BEST professors I've ever had.
Mark is easily the best Math teacher I've ever had. He knows the material inside and out, gives very clear lectures, is very good with answering questions, and will work with you one on one. He does not grade homework, so you must know the material and pass the tests to pass his class. Go to his class prepared to learn, and you will!
he explained why sertain mathematical laws are the way they are for example why 180*2pi
Very thorough in what he teaches, however I feel he gives out tests too frequently and often doubles up test corrections and problem sets so they are due the same week of the test. However, he is one of the best math teachers I have had
Mark is my favorite professor ever. I still say hi to him whenever I see him. He helped me with trig AND I went to him for help with calc - the way he showed me things just made perfect sense to me. He is absolutely amazing. I would recommend him to anyone & everyone.
Best Math teacher I have ever had. He understands the subject matter better than anyone I have ever met. Very helpful IF you ask. Explains things very well. Don't expect his class to be easy though.
Like everyone has already said, he is a great teacher! I took him for Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. His tests are literally based off the homework, so as long as you know what you are doing for homework, you will know the test. Ask questions in class, and go in if you don't understand. He explains things very well. I cannot say enough about him.
Mark is by far one of the best professors I have had at ARCC. His class isn't easy but he is a good teacher and makes the material understandable. He even helped me when I wasn't in his class for calc 1 and I was in dockter's class.
I'd argue he is the only competent calculus instructor at ARCC,there is a reason his classes fill up immediately. He spends the entire class answering questions which pretty much guarantees you will understand every single chapter if you just listen to him in class. Treats you like an adult, homework isn't mandatory. Doing the homework B or A
If you have the chance to take a class with Mark Omodt count yourself lucky. He is a great teacher! He explains things in ways that make it easy to understand and ties everything back into what you already know. Show up, do the optional homework and ask questions.
He really cares about his students and their success. He was willing to work with me one on one when I wasn't able to grasp concepts.
Omodt was a great professor. I had him when I was at Anoka Ramsey for Calc 1, and Linear Algebra. He was an amazing teacher who really focused on making sure that his students understood the material. He was amazing in lecture and was super helpful during office hours. I really respect him and would recommend him to everyone for any level of math.
He definitely knows math, I felt however his teaching skills kinda sucked for me. His lectures consisted mostly of students asking questions from their homework and him very briefly going over them, and the last 20 mins of each class he again briefly went over some concepts of each chapter. Relies way too much on homework, I wouldn't recommend.
Mark is not only good at teaching but he also genuinely cares about his students success. If you need help, go straight to him. He is extremely welcoming and WANTS to work with you to help you understand the material. That said, almost all of your grade is based on tests.
This is my second class with Mark. He is without a doubt the best math teacher I have ever had. He goes over the material in class and allows for a large portion of class to be left for questions. He knows his material very well and he genuinely cares about the students that want to learn. If you want to learn, in Marks class, you will.
Mark really cares that everyone understands. Not much homework for credit, just challenging group problem sets that he gives you at least a week to complete. Definitely not an easy A, but he teaches so well that you'll appreciate the work. GO TO CLASS! You'll understand the material so well! Overall great professor.
You can easily tell that mark wants you to learn the material, and he cares about your success as a student. He teaches very well and grades fairly.
Very smart man that gives some great lectures. Spends half of class going over questions from the homework (which is not graded) and then segways it into new material. Overall, makes sure you understand the topic but his calc class is tough as expected.
Overall, he is a good man. His teaching style is just you doing the homework and coming in the next day for questions (even though we have a free math center downstairs to ask questions if needed). The teaching style did not work for me, as I need to be taught how to do the math before I just go and do it.
Great professor! Had him for calc 1 and would definitely take him again. Can seem like he's bemused by your questions, but don't let that turn you off! If you have a good attitude with him and ask questions, he'll do everything he can to help you pass. Really takes time to make sure you understand the material. Make sure you do the homework, though
Mark shows and emits a level of dedication unparalleled by any professor on campus. While most professors show lack of interest in teaching a remedial math course Mark made the class both fun and challenging. With his problem sets he adds flair and interest to boring and tedious book work. If it weren't for Mark I would hate math still.
I have taken Mark's class from fundamental math all the way to Calculus. Mark is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. His tests and homework are all straight forward and he does an excellent job in lectures helping you both master the material and understand its meaning. Because of him I now love math. Mark, you are the best!!!!
Smart guy, really knows how to teach math. My favorite math teacher ever.
I took mark in Math 250. I struggle with math and does not come easy to me. Mark helped me through the course and helped me understand it better. He gives extra points on tests if you do corrections and meet with him. He also gives extra points for taking notes. If you have trouble with math like me, I highly recommend taking him.
Was quite nervous going into calc because I struggled in trig. However, Mark is focused on making students understand concepts. There were test corrections for each test which helps you learn everything you might've missed and he was always available during office hours. Ask questions during the lectures! Nice guy who really knows his material.
Mark is one of the best profs Ive had. He is clear in lecture, willing to help, and elaborates well on non-intuitive concepts. Take his class. One thing you absolutely need to do is homework. This is the main basis for his lectures. When they arent homework-based, lectures can be very interesting and challenging. This course is very managable.
Professor Omodt was a good Calculus teacher, he was very helpful if you make use of his office hours, which I recommend. The only thing I didn't like is that I felt like I had to teach myself a lot of the material. Homework was not graded until the end which determined if he'd bump your grade. This was a very hard class, but he was helpful.
Mark is very willing to help you with any trouble you have. I took him for calc 1 and 2 as a PSEO student. Would highly recommend to anyone. Im bad at math, but he really helped me through it all.
Mark definitely knows his stuff and is there to help students as much as he can. He makes the material as clear as possible during class and is very open to questions in and out of class. Hes been super helpful and I would definitely take him again!
The best math professor Anoka Ramsey has to offer, Mark did an amazing job teaching me linear algebra so much so that while I'm at the U of M currently I'm acing my linear algebra class offered there without even attending lecture just based off everything Mark taught me. I started his class not knowing anything, finished the class with an A+. 5/5!
I took 1400 over the summer and Mr. O did his absolute best to teach us 16 weeks of math in 8 weeks. I actually grew to like math despite the crazy fast pace that summer classes have. His tests are straight to the point (may have a few curveballs) and he's ready for questions. do the hw because thats essential to this class and knowing the material
Marks a good guy but he grades unnecessarily harder than the other calc teachers. He definitely cares about his students and you will learn he just has a C centric grading method where most people will be getting C and only a few A's are given which is super tough on GPA.
I really liked my class with Omodt. He explained things well, and was available for questions after class as well as office hours.
I accidentally fell asleep and missed the last test of the semester due to staying up all night for Ramadan. I didn't even need to explain my situation. He was really kind and arranged a different time to proctor my exam, just for me. Sure the material is difficult, but it's possible to get an A with all the help and generosity he provides.
He was very caring about his students' success. He was doing a great job explaining the class materials. I would recommend him if you need attention from a professor or have a busy life. The final exam was pretty much on the last chapters. I could do better in this class if I retook this course with him again.
He's very understanding and super nice. Said to me that due dates arent important to him. Also, If you get answers wrong on the test he lets you correct them with a tutor or him to make sure you get 100%
I honestly was not a great student in this class. Mark caught on and reached out to me directly many times throughout the course and provided me with ample opportunity to pass the class as long as I put forth the effort. Mark cares about his students much more than any other professor that I've had in the past. I would strongly recommend his class!
Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. I went into this class (fall 2021), being intimidated by the subject matter as this was my first foray into calculus. By the time the course was over, I knew I wanted to minor in math. Every student of his that I have met has been inspired by him to further their academic path into Mathamatics.
Very hard and tough grader. The homework is not graded which is upsetting. Not the best lecturer. Be ready to self learn and go to tutoring often.
He moves very fast in class. HIs lectures are kind of confusing. He doesn't grade homework so all that goes into the grade book is tests and problem sets. He grades very few things.
Very Nice Professor. Always seemed ready to help and excited to teach. Many opportunities for success.
Best math teacher I have had throughout college/highschool
Take this Class seriously if you want to pass, He is a very tough grader who only grades a few things, he gives opportunities to pass depending on the type of class you take but overall, those opportunities are even harder to take.
This class was very hard. It is like college algebra and trig combined into one semester. The lectures were worth their time. There was plenty of extra credit. All questions asked would be answered pretty quickly via email and could be asked during or after class. He was very encouraging and recommended us to get help from tutors if we needed.
I really enjoyed taking a class with Mark and will take another with him again. He really encourages questions and is always ready to explain any concepts you may be struggling with. I really enjoyed how he would give real life context to the topics we were learning. He also gave plenty of opportunity for corrections and extra credit
SLLALAAAAYYYY MARKKKK YASSSS i
Mark is a great guy and is always willing to work with you and help you out. The class is tough, but he does a good job explaining things and there are never any surprises on his tests. Usually if you understand the two past exams he releases, then you will do fine on the actual exam.
Mark is a good guy! I was really struggling this semester and he provided me with many ways out and help. Take him and put in effort and you'll do great. Good luck
He was a great professor and he cares about the success of all his students. he gives good and clear feedback and is easy to get a hold of.
he gives clear and good feedback and is easy to get a hold of. It's really on you to try to practice what he teaches and keep up but he cares about the success of all his students. he is a good grader.
Prof. Omodt is a caring instructor who genuinely wants students to succeed. While the material is challenging, he provides excellent support through office hours, test corrections, and a focus on understanding concepts. Apps like unstuck study can complement the textbook and lecture resources.
He has very clear expectations of what you are expected to do, and as long as you do them you will do great. Class is designed to help you learn and I feel it did a good job at that.
Definitely take this class with Mark!! I'm not much of a math person, but Mark somehow made this class fun. I will say this class will be challenging sometimes, but he will help to ensure you pass. He shows professionalism and cares for all his students. I would take this class again without hesitation, and I highly encourage you to do the same!
Mark is truly one of the best professors I've ever had, the most caring guy, you can tell he absolutely loves what he does. Make sure to advocate for youself and ask questions if you're confused. You'll have to put in the work to succeed or you'll fall behind, but he's there to help and loves when people ask questions!! Can't recommend him enough!
Mark was a solid professor. My biggest complaint was the grading system which I found awful, but Mark is a good teacher with good lectures and if you pay attention in this class, you will do fine. There's not a lot of opportunities other than test to get grades so beware and Mark genuinely cares About his students and I would recommend this class.
Troll class Do not take with him. if you want to deal with a snarky professor That is emotionally abusive then he is the one to go with.
