I think he is a wonderful professor. He is very clear in what he wants and does not show favortism in his grading. he is not an easy professor, but you learn more than you would with a different professor in the same class. He knows how to treat as well as challenge his students.

Orbe is the best! He is so funny and such an incredibly helpful teacher. His class is hard (and fun!), so if you're not willing to put in the work...don't even sign up. Dr. Orbe is by far the best proffesor that I have ever had at this university. I am a senior and have taken two of his classes just because hes amazing at what he does. He is very motivating and makes you want to do good in class. I had him at 8am two days a week and never missed a class just because I loved going. I highly recommend him.

Orbe is a great teacher! It's been a few semesters since I have had him and he still recognizes me on campus. I plan on taking more upper level courses with him! He engages students and is a great speaker. I was never bored to tears in his class even though it was a 9:30 am.

Very fun and enthusiastic teacher. Only had to write 3 one-page papers throughout the semester. The tests were a little difficult, but are easy if you study the notes and definitions from the book. Notes in class everyday from his overhead/his lecture. Entertaining at times. Fun class!

Dr. Orbe clearly loves what it is he is doing, loves the students, context, and atmosphere. He is so much fun to have for mass lecture and is great at getting the information out to all 250 of us. I loved the comm theory class I took with him. Even though it had lots of students, he did his best to get to know, and support, everyone. He is not a easy prof, but i learned a lot in the end.

I took Communication Theory with Dr. Orbe in the fall and it by fare was one of the most interesting and engaging classes I have taken at Western so fare. It was M,W,F 9:30 am and no matter what I always ended up being awake by the time he started talking. Great professor!

The textbook for CommTheory was really hard, but Dr. Orbe did an amazing job at helping students through it. He set up many different study session -- which he ran (not his TA). I know that I wouldn't have done as well if he didn't work so hard with his students. Not an easy instructor, but he created a learning setting all could succeed.

I had Orbe my freshman year; he was great and would take time to talk to me everytime I saw him on campus. Best prof at wmu. He even made it a point to give me a hug on stage when I graduated. Take him it you can.

My summer class with him was 2 1/1 hours long, BUT it was actually fun and filled with lots of useful info. I had surgery during the class, but he worked with me so that my grade wouldn't be effected. GREAT HELP!

This class was easy and lots of fun. Dr. Orbe gives lots of pionts for attendance and only has 3 short papers. I learned alot.

Best *auditorium lecture type class* I've ever been in. Do the reading and attend the lectures and the concepts will be crystal clear. Thus far, tests and assignments are fair and not difficult (again, if you read and attend lecture).

I've never had a professor so dedicated to make sure that everyone does well. Just went to an "optional" study session with 100 other students that Dr. Orbe led. Take him if you get the chance!

Taboo Topics with Orbe is a life-changing class. Seriously, if you get the chance, take it. It's going to be hard, if you want an A you have to work for it, but it really changes who you are for the better, plus it's extremely fun and engaging. I would gladly take any class he teaches.

He is very funny and he draws you into the lecture. He is a really good teacher that wants you to succeed but you have to be willing to show up and put work in. If you don't understand or are struggling let him know ahead of time. I am on of 280 students and he always has a way of letting me know that he cares if I succeed which is awesome.

Great professor! I first had him for COM 2000 and knew I had to take another one of his classes. He is very helpful, lectures are interesting and he has a very clear grading procedure. The only thing is there are not alot of points in the class so work hard and if he offers E.C. make sure you do it- its a rare gift!

Love love love Dr. Orbe! He makes even the most dull topics interesting, but Taboo Topics are never dull! He really pulls a level of interest and respect that I've never seen another professor do. He believes that everyone has something to teach him, so the last third of the class is facilitated by the student's interest in specific topics.

Taking my second class with Orbe. He's an inspiration for his students and his love for teaching is obvious. I wish he could teach all of my classes, he could teach other profs a thing or two.

He's very inspirational. He's great at making 200-students lecture class feels like it's a discussion class. He is VERY helpful during exams. He'll give his extra time to cover questions at study session. However, if you missed ONE of the class, let go your A grade.

Great professor. His tests are hard though. I did poor on the first exam, but I went to his office hours for advice and his recommendations worked. I ended up with a B in the class, but I also had to work for it. His lectures are always intriguing.

Orbe is the best teacher I have EVER had! Lectures are relatable and interesting. Tests are challenging but if you go to the review sessions you can get 100% on the tests. There are 3 tests and final and 2 TIP reports which are page long essays about a theory. Easy if you study and attendance is worth SO MANY points. I love his teaching style also.

Mark Orbe is hands down the best professor I've had at Western. As a student who tends to skip class a lot, I have not skipped this class once due to the fact that he makes it enjoyable to be there. He is a professor who knows how to connect with his students and truly has their best interest at heart. 10/10 would recommend, 11/10 would take again.

He is super funny, values getting to know students even in a 150 student lecture hall, uses everyday examples to explain Com theories, holds optional study sessions before EVERY exam and goes over practically every answer on the exams, and has a clear grading criteria for your two papers throughout the semester.

Orbe has been my favorite professor since freshman year. He cares about your success but will not hand it out freely. He is open minded and wants people to learn not memorize. Lots of group work in this class but it's just talking and sharing ideas. You have to go to class to pass. And you will probably want to.

Dr. Orbe has been one of my favorite professors. he makes it a goal to learn everyone's names (well over 100 students) and relates to us and a whole new level. his exams are a little tough but manageable. if you do take com 2000 GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS. they are extremely helpful. over all great guy

Dr. Orbe taught this class so well. The class was about different and interesting communication theories. His online lectures were under twenty minutes and he explained them super well. He had good examples and analogies for the theories and made them easy to understand. He even has his own theory in the textbook, which was so cool!

Professor Orbe makes the material engaging and digestible. The study sessions are a must - really helpful along with Unstuckstudy for test prep. Attend class and you'll learn a lot.

I went through a very tough time this semester and missed a bit of class, but this professor always made my day when I was able to go.

In his lectures, he gives a lot of examples and information that you wouldn't normally find on any of the written material, so definitely come to each lecture and take good notes if you want to do well on the tests.
