The class was difficult but if you read the book and keep up with what's going on in class, you will be fine. The only grades are the tests which are very difficult. He gives so much extra credit that the tests balance out. Like another review said, if you fail, you deserve it.

Palumbo is the man!!! i thought he was hard at first but when it came down to it, hes amazing. There are so many extra credit opportunities too. he can be kind of a **** at times but he's good. Highly recommended

Mr Palumo loves psychology and you can tell. His lectures are really helpful and has them all on the P drive but definitely still go to class cuz you get extra credit for attending classes. and he gives extra credit pop quiz's that are so worth reading the book for!

This prof is great to take as a freshman. He helps introduce college to you and gets you on your feet. I really enjoyed his class even though I was never interested in Psyc. TAKE HIM. Big on extra credit. If you attend class and pay attention half the time you'll get an A or B.

Dr. Palumbo is an EXCELLENT Professor. He is very enthusiastic and interesting. He gives a lot of bonus opportunities and is very fair. The tests are not very difficult and the book he uses is very beneficial. He gave us study guides and lectures on the P-drive. Maybe he will change some things, but I definately recommend taking him! I would!

Very euthusiastic professor who is interested in his students. Prefers class participation. Tests are somewhat difficult, but he offers plenty of bonus. Beware of group work! My group members were utterly useless. His response: That sucks for you.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!! If u fail his class, then u obviously didn?t take his bonuses seriously. He gives it out like candy, which he gave out one day. He loves psychology and he won?t mind telling u how easy it is everyday (even if you look at him like he?s crazy). This class is really easy as long as you read the chapters for class...there's so much bonus so it's really hard to fail unless you don't go to class...i'd say take him he loves his job and it shows through in his teaching

Dr. Palumbo is so great! He is a very good teacher and a very nice person. He cares about his students and how well they do. Lots of extra credit so it is almost impossible to fail. tests are moderately easy. he posts study guides and notes on the P drive and they are very helpful!

I've never taken a Psychology course prior to this one. He is a WONDERFUL teacher! Tons of extra credit. If you study for tests and work for it, it will be an easy "A". He's really nice guy who loves what he does. Take him! :)

Amazing professor. Took his general psyc class while still a senior in high school. I couldn't possibly have asked for a better prof. He made the course easy to understand while still teaching the material. He's enthusiastic about psychologty and loves what he does. Though he may not know it, he has greatly influenced me to continue my education.

Without a doubt one of the best professors I've had so far at IUP. He's fun and keeps the class interesting. Everyone who says he doesn't answer questions are just mad and lazy because they actually have to look up things for themselves. HELLO PEOPLE THIS IS COLLEGE! He doesn't just teach, he makes you learn. He expects students to be prepared and independent. I don't understand people who don't enjoy him or his class. This was my favorite professor from day 1. If somebody doesn't like his class it's probably because they're lazy.

Take him for your psyc teacher, he really knows what he is talking about. Yeah it's true that he doesn't always aswer some questions but, the ones that he doesn't answer are on the p drive, the syllabus, or on the iup website. It would really help you if you do go to all the classes because not everything that he talks about is in the book.

Great professor! Explains concepts extremely well. Offers extra credit. Somehow people in class are still failing at the end of the semester?? He does have very strong reactions at times. Take my advice, do not email him unless completely necessary. Nine times out of ten you're going to get a rude response. Just go to his office hours..

If you can't get an A in this class, you're an idiot! I've done nothing besides read the book and do the study guide all semester and gotten a 100% on every test. I have extra credit because of in-class bonus quizzes, let alone his outside-of-class extra credit, and don't even need it. Dr. Palumbo is a great guy!

This professor is one of the best that I've had even though it's my first semester in college. I enjoy going to his class, it's interesting and fun. You will never have a dull moment, I love that big guy!!! :-D

I Just Had Him and I Must Say It Was One of My Easy Classes. He has an Interesting way of Teaching, But its pretty entertaining. I Would Definitely Recommend Him.

I loved his class. He made it interesting. I enjoy teachers who tell it how it is. If you don't show up to class you will fail simple as that. He gives a ton of extra credit opportunities. Dr. Palumbo is not only one of the greatest professors at IUP, but he also changed my life. I walked into his class not knowing a thing about psychology and I left changing my major to psychology. I highly recommend him and I also think that more professors should be like him.

Greatest psychology teacher I ever had. Very organized and willing to help, he really doesn't want you to fail his class. I averaged a B on all of the tests but there was so much extra credit that I didn't even have to take the final and I still got an A in the class. Palumbo's teaching convinced me to even minor in Psychology. TAKE HIM.

Loved him! He's one of the only professors that kept me awake for an 8 am class. He was really good at engaging the class in mini experiments to help us learn the material better. If you go to class everyday you'll do fine. Plus he offers enough extra credit it's impossible to fail.

He is a decent professor. His classes are a discussion - not him lecturing. I read the chapter before every test and did well. He's a pretty chill guy. He will try to get you to participate and can be arrogant, but he's not awful. He also likes to read this ratings aloud in class sometimes.

I really enjoyed his class! You can tell that he really does care about his students and psychology. If you take his class, DO THE STUDY GUIDES! The class and exams will be so much easier with the study guides than without. I definitely recomment taking Dr. Palumbo if you have the chance. He's so funny and he always kept class entertaining.

I wasn't very happy with the way he handled the final study guides, but the rest of his class was pretty good. Just a word of advice and make sure you work on the study guide ahead of time, meaning don't wait before the night of the test. Overall I think I did well in the class, and I didn't even do the extra credit. I would take him again I guess.

Take this class if you can! It is extremely easy as long as you study. He gives out study guides before the test. If you study using the study guide and know the vocabulary words you are good to go. His extra credit opportunities also help out a lot. Anyone who says this class is hard didn't take the time to look over the material given to them.

Friendly but I’ll never take again. Study guides didn’t reflect exam. At times was demeaning to the males. Yes he was helpful & clear, but not as easy as the RMP score suggests. Gave 3 pop-quiz for bonus, read chapter before class. Attendance bonus (5pts max) at end of sem. each exam had a few bonus questions. Didn’t care for him but you may.

For the most part he is a pretty good professor. If you ask him questions during class he'll answer them, see him after class, he'll tell you to ask a friend (not helpful). Gives you lots of chances for extra credit. Keep up with the material, and you'll do fine.

Palumbo really loves extra credit--he most certainly wants students to get A's. He teaches everything out of his textbook, so if you read the text, you will be just fine in his class. The class was an easy A, if you ask me.

I forgot to rate him 3 years ago but I must say that he is an interesting professor here at IUP. For 3 years, he is the only professor that I never once missed class due to the fact that he is crazy and funny. U need to work hard but if you do and pay attention, you will have fun. Also try not to be one of his guinea pigs for his experiments.

I ended up with an A and ended up not taking the final by doing all of this and some of the extra credit he provides! I would definitely take another class!

Dr. Palumbo kind of reminds me of Santa. He's a big, jolly guy, who is always trying to help out students. He gives extra credit all the time, ranging from extra questions on tests, to in class pop quizes (always extra credit). I would recomend you take him. The key to getting an A is simple- Read the book, and listen in class!

He was truly a great professor. He gives you points for showing up but doesn't mind if you miss every once in a while. Tests are always at the end of the week and short. Just pay attention and read the book and you'll get an A. He's also a morning person, so be careful about scheduling an 8Am with him.

Great professor- clearly loves what he does and wants others to take away some things from the class, even at the core requirement/101 level. Wish all my professors cared this much. I am actually going out of my way to take another class w/him. You would have to try pretty hard to get a bad grade in 101- he gives you every opportunity to do well.

I'm currently a Junior here at IUP & I had Dr. Palumbo my first semester. Looking back, he is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He loves psychology & he makes class interesting. No, you can't blow it off & it's not an easy A but you'll actually learn a lot. He expects you to pay attention and learn. That's why your in college, right?

This course is super easy as long as you put in some effort. He gives numerous extra credit opportunities to the point where you don't have to take the final if you acquire enough points. He's a bit eccentric during his lectures, but that makes class interesting. Pretty much everything comes from the book, so if you do the readings, you'll get an A

He is an overall great professor. Be sure to read the chapters ahead of class time, he expects you to know some of the material. He does not do power points, he has notes and lectures off of those. I really liked this class. His enthusiasm made lectures interesting. He used good examples to explain difficult concepts. He moves fast so I had to do the reading beforehand and add to my notes from lecture, which was extra work but worth it. Study and you'll do well on the tests. Mark is a great professor, most of the time he sometimes can be annoying after a low average on tests. But most of the time his lectures are pretty interesting. He also gives study guides for almost all the tests and multiple extra credit questions.

Pretty chill dude. There's lots of tests but they're not super hard. As long as you kinda pay attention in class and skim the chapter before the test, you'll probs get an A or B. He dosen't post the power point notes which sucks, but his lectures are interesting. Also, you don't have to take the final if you get an A. Overall a cool dude.

He does have tests about every other week but they are only 25 points, which helps if you bomb one. If he says follow directions, do it! If you put in the time, read the chapters, ask questions, go to class, and do the study guides, you will be golden! Oh, and if he offers extra credit, do it. I learned a lot of things!

He was a pretty great professor. Tells you upfront that if you get over 180 points in the class, you don't have to take the final. TAKE THE BONUS OPPORTUNITIES. Up to 30 bonus points. Do well in the beginning. READ THE BOOK IT'S GOING TO HELP YOU.

Dr. Palumbo is one of the best professors I've had since starting at IUP. I HIGHLY encourage anyone that has to take a psychology course to take him. He gives TONS of bonus point opportunities. If you get enough points by the end of the semester, you DON'T have to take the final! His teaching style is largely lecture based. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

He's kinda funny & really obnoxious but he really knows his stuff. Don't ever volunteer for anything unless you enjoy looking like an idiot in front of the entire class. I really do recommend him. Focus on the vocabulary words for tests & be sure to TAKE ADVANTAGE of his extra credit(he gives a lot) The book is really expensive but really good.

Fantastic showmanship for a professor. He does a lot of audience participation and really gets you to care about psychology and the class. Extremely witty and funny. My only problem with him is that he's one of those professors that every class or so will ramble on about politics and doesn't seem to like to be told anything that's against him...

A fair teacher, he will make you attend the lectures and read the book, but he is willing to help students. He lays out all schedules and his expectations ahead of time, so you should never be surprised in his class. Other than that, he sometimes has in class activities that connect you to what you are learning, and they make nice additions.

Dr. Palumbo was very understanding when I experienced a loss in my family and missed a number of lectures. He drops one exam which gives you the opportunity to skip the final or try your best on all exams. He also gives out a lot of bonus as well as bonus on the exams. He tells you what you need to know for exams so go to class!

Didn't like him at first because he came off as rude but as the class went on he grew on me. He's just assertive and calls on you randomly if you sit towards the front but it helps you learn. Has a good sense of humor and explains well. You won't do well if you don't do the study guides but all of that information is found in the textbook.

He is a professor everyone seems to hate but I loved his class and did very well. He is more of a tester on "understanding material" not knowing the definitions so once you get the hang of how his tests work you'll do fine! Amazing lecturer too. He uses examples for everything so it's easier to remember.

Hands out I'd say a decent amount of homework. The homework takes a long time to get done but It really helps you. He wants students to succeed and do well in his class so he likes to give out a lot of extra help.

Palumbo is one of those professors that I hated but loved, he is specific in what he wants you to do; but if you get into the routine it gets easier and basically habit. He pushes you to study and do things right the first time. He is hilarious but strict.

I genuinely liked him and his class. A lot of people will tell you he's not a good teacher to have, but I completely disagree. He can be weird and very loud at times, but it is to your own benefit. He cares a lot about the subject and he wants you to do well. He loves extra credit. Follow his instructions exactly on homework or you'll get a zero.

You will not pass this class without the textbook. Some of the exams are really hard I won't lie but he gives plenty of opportunties for extra credit and he drops your lowest exam score so it's possible to get a decent grade in his class. As long as you read each chapter and review the chapter questions he posts, then you will be fine.

Im currently in one of his classes and its always my favorite class of the day. He' s energetic and keeps me awake and focused. He does give tests every 2 weeks but he doesn't go very heavy on the material on them.

One of the best professors I've had, would highly suggest taking his courses. Many say he's cruel for taking the sign in sheet away 1 minute after the start time but if you're early theres no problem. He's a very funny and caring person. There are 10 quizzes in this course and a final exam based on the novel Fahrenheit 451.

If you are required to take a psychology, Palumbo is definitely the way to go. He lectures are fast paced sometimes but he is very straightforward. The metaphors and examples he uses to help you actually understand the content is brilliant and some of it can even help you in life. If you show up and care you will not only pass but enjoy it.

If you had to chance to take him over another psyc professor I definitely recommend you do!

Dr. Palumbo is someone you either love or hate. He is not very understanding and likes things his way, no other options. He has multiple mini quizzes so its ok if you bomb one. Says he exempts kids from final but only if u get over 100 on every exam. I never got lower than a 89 and I still had to take the final. Final is about novel with mix of ch.

Dr. Palumbo's psych 101 class was super easy and enjoyable. He's a bit nutty, but in a good way. Exams are all online and we only had two homework assignments. He takes attendance for participation grades and he encourages you to come, but if you skip one or two classes it isn't that big of a deal. But def show up, its worth it.

Mark isn't a bad professor, very easy class. He urges everyone to buy the $70 textbook which does help on exams/slides if you read it, but you can just look up the answers. I think he knows this bc he made our first exam in person but quickly switched to online after a scantron screw up. Be diligent on the research credit website for surveys.

He is very understanding as long as you talk to him during his office hours, any other time, or through email he will be vague and tell you to go to his office hours. There was only one mandatory homework assignment and all tests and quizzes were online and out of class, and plenty of extra credit opportunities.

He was a super easy professor and the quizzes are online. He says you need to buy the textbook but I didn't use mine once. Take him for an easy A.

He is very tough on grading. If you do not read/follow the directions exactly how they are written you will not do well. He does not give exams but he does give 25 question quizzes every couple of weeks. They are easy as long as you take good notes. His lectures are overviews of the book so make sure to read before or after class.
