Cool professor test are not difficult.One paper 4-5 pages.In phi 1 there is one group presentation.In phi 6 there is one group debate.Both classes pretty easy.Class not recommended for religious people that are easily offended.

Mark is one of the greatest teachers that L A Mission College has for students. This teacher is funny, nice, smart and makes you never want to miss out in his class. I've taken two classes with Mark and both I passed.

I have to disagree with a lot of people. Although the class was EXTREMELY easy, and Mr. Pursley is way cool... his class was also extremely boring! I guess it would help if I was interested in Philo, but then neither was 3/4 of the class. Good thing is I didn't have to buy a book, both midterm and final are a given, and I got an A.

he is such a great teacher. he explains everything perfectly. his examples are entertaining and get the point across. i took his class during the winter in the mornings and would bring us food and coffee to keep us awake. i wish i could have him as my bio teacher.

He's very nice, the class is easy and fun. My only problem is that he likes to make jokes that he doesn't realize are rude or hurtful. He makes fun of everything that isn't funny, like homicide, mental illness, abuse. I don't get why everyone laughs but it isn't very funny to me or I'm sure to others who have been through things like that.

Mark is an AWESOME teacher! very nice, funny,and easy going.Some work, but not to difficult.Funny and interesting analogies to make the subject more interesting. Great professor. Gives out quizzes in some weeks, but not too hard if you read the book. Midterm is open notes. One essay for the semester.

I never show up to class, and when I do, I daydream everyday. And suprisingly, I have an A. Easy peasy, interesting, but confusing. I recommend this class if you want a superrrrr easy A.

This Class was awesome! The teacher is super into the subject which shows the students that he's passionate about what he teahes. he's kinda hard to hear, but he's an easy teacher and an Easy A! you guys would love him!! Plus he likes to Joke around!!! :)

He is very random at times but nice lets you make up any late work not to mention open book test for midterm & finals. Easy A!!!!!

Mr. Pursley is super boring during lectures but he's super nice. Lets you make up any late work. Let's you use your notes on tests and gives you a study guide. Be prepared to work in groups for a book presentation and essay. Super easy A as long as you do the work.

If I had realized there would be a study guide and use your notes during exams earlier, I would not be in class for the whole semester.

Taking him now and he's an awesome guy. Sometime it may get a little boring. If your having difficulty understanding something he will make an effort to help you understand. Do the work and you'll have a great grade.

Thius teacher willlllll help you. All you need to do is ask. This is Philosophy, the Love of wisdom...thats what it means. It's a head class, you will have to use your brain. Pay attention, it way out there. expect to hear quotes and learn about philosophers like Socrates it's a easy pass if you come to class. You can use your notes on all test.

He's a great teacher. He's willing to help if you ask him. I found his class sort of easy, you have to pay attention. He's funny at random times, and accepts late work. The textbook is not required because he covers everything through power points. I would say he's very chill and understanding. I recommend him. He doesn't assign homework.

speaks very lightly so its a little difficult to stay focused at times. He understands philosophy can be very difficult to understand so he makes the workload and tests very easy. some books are required but they're very inexpensive or you can get the pdf versions online for free. He's very nice, doesnt make you feel as if your answers are wrong.

Provides a great introductory class to philosophy. He uses many analogies from books and life experiences to teach the material from his slides. Tests and quizzes are based on the study guides . His logic class is the same but focuses more on the critical thinking side of philosophy minus the English. Overall. Easy A but may change the rigor.

He is a really interesting and fun professor that gives good lectures. As long as you do all the work you are bound to get an A.

Prof. Pursley can monotonic sometimes but he is a great guy. He is pretty hilarious and he knows what he is talking about. The workload is pretty light and exams are open book. Learned a lot from his class and would take Philosophy with him again.

Professor Pursely is a good teacher. He's really funny and definitely knows what he's talking about. He really wants you to understand the material so he's always open to questions. Took him for Philosophy 6 and he made it very interesting.

Extremely helpful, it is a very easy class and it is not hard to keep up. He did not even use the book which is nice because I did not have to buy the book. I missed class a couple of times and still passed with a high grade. Highly recommend. He also uses his real life experiences and gives his honest opinion which is refreshing.

I barley showed up to class and the times i did i was really lost in what was going on, so i sent him an email and went to his office and he took time to try and explain to me what it was. No book needed. You have to listen to get an A. I got a B by putting everything off till the las minute

This professor is very interesting and kind .i enjoyed his class and lectures. You do have to participate in group projects and single projects.

This class was easy and super chill. You are going to read a book or 2 but the books are not expensive. All in all I would highly recommend this Professor!

Funny professor but speaks very low so anyone can barely hear him unless you are right in front of him, you don't have to attend class because he doesn't roll call but his notes daily are necessary, easy course

Easy A. he goes over the midterm and your final is a take home. His lectures do get boring but take a couple of key notes and you are fine.

Professor Pursley is such a great professor. I took Philosophy 006 with him during the Winter session,and I gotta say he is very inspirational, I love it how he respects everyones opinion and is always in a good mood!

He is a great professor. He is very funny. I found his lectures entertaining and educational. He is also very clear on how he grades and is lenient as to when to turn assignments. Beware of the truth tables and the Venn diagrams the material is a bit difficult and confusing. Overall he is an awesome professor.

He is always in a pleasant mood which makes the class enjoyable. I aspire to be at Pursleys level of chill.

He was a really nice proffesor that enjoyed what he was teaching. The only thing was that for me at least it was sometimes hard to stay awake because it was so lecture heavy. Other than that he did have quizzes, a group presentation, midterm/final and a paper. You really just need to show up and he will give you everything you need to do well.

Take it online, 12 assignments total. Very flexible, for example if you need more time on a paper or on another assignment just let him know and he will give you extra time. Only 2 essays (2-3 pages long) NO BOOK NEEDED! Overall pretty easy class. He will give you another try on his Exams if you are not happy with your grade, except for the final.

He is the EASIEST class to take. If you fail his class theres something seriously wrong. Best and easiest class Ive ever taken.

I just took his class this semester for winter and it was hard considering that it is philosophy 6 and it goes by fast. I would absolutely take him again! He is so understanding and always leave you nice comments on your work. The course was hard, but he makes it easy enough for you to be able to pass as long as you're doing your work. Take him!!

Had Mr. Pursley for Summer 2020, gives you 2 chances at the quizzes, exams only 1 attempt, I did not study or read too much and passed with a 85%. The only difficult thing is the diagrams do go to tutoring if you want an A. I appreciated that he gives extensions on all assignment for everyone. him accepting late work saved me.

Great professor. Assignments are relatively easy if you keep up with the readings.

The prof is very flexible with due dates, and all tests are open-note and open internet. There is a textbook, but you don't really need to read it; you also don't need to watch the lectures. The midterm and final are take-home style, so you have a week and a half to do them. Nice prof. Easy course.

Professor Pusley , was a great teach his class was a lot more self paced which helped out so much , expect at least one assignment due per week with some reading but all in all a few quizzes and a small essay , 10/10

Take this class. It will challenge you but in a good way. He has typed out lectures you read with supplemental material. Discussion posts due every week (easy), several quizzes (easy, 2 attempts), one 2-3 page essay (medium), one small PowerPoint (easy), midterms and finals (easy to medium). No extra credit but does allow for late assignments.

AN AMAZING PROF. One of the best that I have taken in any LACCD college. He has study guides and review sessions for each exam. If you have questions during the review he will answer and and all and will go over questions as many times as needed and gives different examples of the same type of question. Overall a great prof and definitely recommend

Highly recommend! There was a lot of reading material, so stay up to date and you will be great! If you need an extension, just ask! Need help with an essay, just ask! Need clarification, just ask! He is very understanding. There were weekly readings and weekly quizzes with 2 attempts on each. Also, his feedback on all assignments is very helpful!!

I took Professor Pursley's introduction to philosophy class in the summer and I personally loved it. His written lectures were the most helpful for exams and quizzes. Be prepared to do your fair share of reading. The quizzes were fairly simple and the professor is very understanding with late work, just communicate ahead of time.

Take Professor Pursley if you need philosophy. He is awesome! He does not give extra credit, however you can ask for an extension and he will more than likely give it to you.

I love professor Pursley! I recommend him 100% don't look any further for a philosophy teacher, take him! I'll definitely miss him as a professor! I took him in summer, fast track. 2 essays, 2 tests, 1 final, 1 weekly writing assignment (assignments were not long). It's not difficult do it all and you will pass.

Took his class during the winter semester and I think it helped that he had Zoom reviews before our exams. He's not a strict grader and the essay topics are broad enough to find something interesting to talk about. Whenever I reached out to him he was more than helpful and lenient with due dates. Had this class for a 5-week class and there was a lot of reading that needed to be done by the end of the week.Each week had discussions. Had multiple parts to midterm and final, both had no time limit. Very accessibale outside of class and can help you with anything. Quizzes were about readings,only 5 questions. He provided all the texts/chapters.

I attended his in-person class and have very positive things to say about this professor. Approximately 1 assignment a week. Quizzes are based on lectures & readings, with no time limits. The professor is very accessible & willing to help. 1 group project presentation & the midterm & final exams are broken into multiple parts, with no time limits.

I would definitely recommend taking this class, the assignments are not too hard and they are graded fairly. One of my favorite professors!

Class is easy and interesting! You write 3 essays on the same topic with different themes, which keeps things simple. Discussions are engaging, and he encourages independent thinking. Very approachable and even offers online sessions before exams. I wish I could've taken his class in person!
