Very good teacher. Makes the class interesting and keeps you awake. Gives you good review sheets for tests and the tests are basic multiple choice, T/F, fill in the blank, etc. He also does a unit on The Matrix which was really interesting. Highly reccomend.
WOW! he was a GREAT teacher!! i do insist not to miss class and study...its not a blow off class!! but if u want to learn, experience a great teacher, and be interested you'll get your moneys worth!!...very funny and i didnt want the class to end!

Good professor and it is not an easy class if you don't study. He lectures a lot but it is not boring. The tests are all from his notes and lectures. He enjoys what he teaches and likes to help his students as much as he can, only if the students asks for help. I recommend him.
Great Professor! Can be confusing but is very helpful. Very Cheerful, but dont be late for his class he dont accept being one minute late!
Great teacher, funny and knowledgeable. Not the most interesting topics in the world... All in all it was a good class but it was a little hard to keep motivated.
very hard if you are a older student dose not offer help if you need it can not be late
do not take dose not offer help and makes his class harder for no reson
I will never take his class again I learned more about his family than the class
He's a very fun kind of teacher and is very informative. He gives you all the test and exam questions in class and as long as you study you will pass.
Dr.Saddler is a great Prof. I had him for both logic and Ethics, and thourally enjoyed both. He is defiantly not easy though, so be prepared to study, and like every one else says dont be late
If you want to learrn and make a good grade dont take him go to St Philips and take Dr Travis
Great Professor, gives you his slides ahead of time to go over the material at home before you get to class. The book is extremely helpful and easy to read: Intro Phil by Robert Solomon 8th edition, we used. Keeping it. Lectures are fun and he's hilarious. Believes in knowledge, so you're bound to learn more than the material as well!
This teacher is hard and a lot of people told me not take him. He is easy if you study and gives you slides and reviews. The hardest thing was the final it will make you or break you. Just study! I mean I probably put 10 hours in studying for the essay final.
a little zany, but make philosophy fun and understandable. He give studyn guides for the tests. There are no surprises. I would take him again if I needed to.
Don't miss the first day! I did and got two zeros because of it, and wasn't able to bring my grade back up.
extremely interesting, my favorite class. He is very compassionate and will give advice. Learned a great deal...would take it again
Very fun, caring instructor. Tries to make jokes but they aren't funny but you laugh anyway. Good class that actually teaches you something. The textbook is not used during class.
Dr Sadler was a great prof, his class is challenging but he is always there for help. He is very passionate about philosophy and doesnt stand there and lecture. He is always telling stories and uses crazy examples to get the point out. Very good teacher.
Very fun and entertaining professor! The material is not easy to learn and understand. But he will do his best to teach it to you in a way that you will understand and learn. I got an A! I would def take his class again.
Dr. Sadler was an awesome professor. We need more like him! Professor's that love their job and care about their students (he is definately one of them). Always humorous and very knowledgeable! I definately recommend him.
Probably the best teacher I've had.
He makes Philosophy fun! :)
Not an easy class to take but the professor will help you. He gives study guides and test come right from the reading and lecture material. Print out his slides. Takes some effort to get an A, but not impossible.
Makes the class very fun to be in. It would be hard to fall asleep in his class. One of the best professors I have ever had.
Great teacher~
Prof. Sadler is a very good teacher. He loves what he does and he keeps the class entertained. His test are from his power points, that are available to you, and his online quizzes. I am currently taking this course and would definitely recommend him. He allows you two missed classes before it affects your attendance points. If you are late to clas
Prof. Sadler is a very good teacher. He loves what he does and he keeps the class entertained. His test are from his power points, that are available to you, and his online quizzes. He does not like people being late and will count you absent. He drops your lowest test grade and does not have a cumulative final.
awesome guy, super cool, very entertaining and extremely informative.
He's a very outgoing professor. Falls behind on his teaching guide, however It makes for less reading. To get along with this professor it takes interaction from the student. I Recommend to be friend him, find a common interest and think like him. The class will go on with tedious conversation and I wish we just go on. Overall a great guy.
Really fun and interesting class...all u need to do is study for test and easy A..i never studied and recieved a B. Would def take another class by this prof.
Great Personality! Goes off the subject a lot. You need to think in side his box. Befriend him and class will be easier. He does not stay on schedule. The majority of his test come from online quizzes and stressed out points through his lectures.
Dr.Sadler is so passionate about teaching. He a fantastic prof!! He keeps the class fun, interesting. He's hilarious! You def have to read-as long as u read no pop quizzes so do urself a favor!!
Great professor. Print out his power points (and keep them) for tests, you can use them to fill out his review sheets which his tests are fully based on. Be sure to at least be somewhat familiar with the review glossary terms, he gives about 10 "matching words to meaning" on each test, and know any lists given, ex socratic virtues. You'll get an A
Awesome professor. Extremely fun but remember to study and in the process. His tests are tough, remember to study. Tends to fall behind on the outline of the notes. Gives a long review sheet and eventually cuts it down to about two pages. All you can do is study and hope for the best.
This Professor is amazing! He's goofy for sure, Helps you when you need it. I called him probably 3 or 4 times to ask for help on the review for an Exam! He would always call back giving me the answers! I couldn't recomend a better Prof. His class is really enjoyable & his reviews for the exam are so helpful! He takes the questions from the review!
Awesome guy! One of the best professors I have ever had. Loves his job and you will love him! A+ for him.
Teacher wasn't that easy..if you do the reviews you will pass the test, however you must remember all for the final as it collaborates everything and you must tie it together.
Great teacher. Really cares about his students. Great discussions in class. Tip: Don't be quiet. He likes talkers. He gives study guides for tests so if you study those then you are golden.
Acts really strict does not like cell phone use or late comers, can't really blame him it's disrespectful. But really a great teacher loves his job and really cares about his students! Not as strict as he comes across HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Took the course in summer but I wish I had taken in fall to short a time to get all the info!!
awesome prof! don't miss his class because you'll miss a lot! tests consists of mutliple choice and fill in blanks. he's very funny and makes philosophy fun!
great guy, classes are fun, but tests are hard
hes a cool teacher but tests are tough.
he was a good teacher. Strict on spelling though.
great teacher and cares for his students and keeps you interseted in the class
Just pay attention to powerpoints and do online quizzes for the test. EASIEST A ive ever got
Great teacher uses lots of examples and talks more about his family than Ethics
Great teacher, always there to help. He really cares about his students! This class was not easy, but if you study the online quizes and in class notes you will do well.
Funny guy. Uses same jokes a lot. Tough tests. MUST study both book and online tests. Talk a lot and you'll be ok as long as you keep defending your position.
Fantastic professor! Dr. Sadler really cares about his students. I particularly enjoyed watching the Matrix and learning about the philosophy behind it. Tests weren't too hard as long as you paid attention and read the textbook. Be sure to keep up with readings and DON'T BE AFRAID TO INTERACT IN CLASS!
He is an interesting one for sure.
This prof is awesome. I enjoyed his class and his interactive teaching style. Sometimes the tests seem difficult but if you do ALL of the other assignments you will make an A.
GREAT professor, a little out there, but it makes for a very interesting and fun learning enviornment!
Off topic. Take at your own risk
He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He has extremely interesting stories to tell along with the lectures. The class is difficult, but if you study for the tests and read the book, you'll be fine. I truly enjoyed taking his class. Go to his office sometime and just talk to him about anything, he's always willing to listen.
I had Dr. Sadler for Logic which wouldn't be an easy class with anyone. However, he went to great lengths to make sure everyone understood the material before moving on. He is a super person - very nice guy who volunteered to meet students outside of office hours if we needed help. Would love to have another class with him!
This professor was awesome. He was entertaining and honest. He meant what he said about how to study. He was fair-- after the first test --to gage class comprehension. I took it in a 5 week summer and all you have to do is take notes in class and participate, read assignments, voila! easy A
Very off topic gives examples but are no help if you aren't familiar to what hes relating to. His notes dont help on the test and you never know where in the textbook you should be for outside of class reading. Im pretty good at auditory learning but I couldnt grasp anything in his class and his grading scale is not accurate. TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK
This guy is awesome. He's hilarious and will always crack a joke, but he really knows his stuff. He is always ready to explain things further if needed and is extremely helpful. He can be a bit repetivive with his personal stories, but it isn't too bad. He's one of the best professors I have ever had!
Memorize the answers for the test review and you will do well. I never read the book. I daydreamed through his lectures which were mostly about himself. Made a B. An easy pass
He is off topic. His helpful advice for me was to work harder. He's a nice guy but, he is really confusing. His notes have nothing to do with his tests. And his tests are fill-in-the-blank. I wouldn't suggest taking him.
Very fun and understandable. Class can be a bit difficult at times, but he will help you as much as you need anytime! I would recommend him to anyone and would love to take another class with him!
I absolutely hated this class. he is a nice guy however, his class sucked. it wasn't necessarily a lot of work but his tests are difficult. you have to memorize E V E R Y T H I N G. but in his exact words or that's points off. I strongly suggest you take another philosophy course.
Great professor, i highly recommend him! Homework isn't too bad, lectures are funny, and he really does try and help you understand the concepts. His exam's are tough but they aren't ridiculous you just need to study and you will pass.
This man is literally the most amazing teacher I've ever had. He truly cares about his student and keeps class interesting and easy to understand. Test are easy as long as you study the notes. If it was possible to take his class 10 times over again I would.
Awesome professor, he's deep into the subject but explains his examples with our everyday decision making. There's no right or wrong answer, he grades your responses on your opinion BUT you have to back it up with support from the reading selection. His class is much well worth to take ;)
I'm taking Dr. Sadler right now for fall and he's been pretty amazing. You'll have a great time in class but tests are hard. Make sure you study hard and memorize everything! However I recommend him to anyone you won't regret it!
Loves to ramble on about personal things. The tests are NOTHING like the reviews. Lots of readings from the book, if you don't read, you will not pass. One of the hardest classes I've taken. Not many assignments just tests that, like I said, are nothing like the reviews so you're screwed unless you can read his mind.
Very off topic. Focuses on making class fun more than helping you learn. Exams have a LARGE fill in the blank portion that's almost impossible to memorize all the answers. He grades his exams tough. You HAVE to read everything assigned to even know what is going on without being completely lost. Essay portion on final is weighs major on final grade
This guy is awesome! He's so good that I continued to take two more of his classes even though I didn't need anymore Humanities courses for my degree. He's very knowledgeable and understanding. If more professors lectured like him, I would enjoy lectures more.
Little to no homework. Very interesting, funny lectures, but inspirational! Do the reviews he gives you and you will do great on the tests. Study the review because it literally is the test. Absolutely great man. Great teacher. Take him because you will learn a lot- this class will change your life.
Dr. Sadler is awesome! Hands down one of the best professors I've had. He makes PHIL fairly easy and understandable. I recommend him. He doesn't assign many homework assignments which is nice. Keep up on your readings and participate in class, that's all it takes!
Great professor who really cares about his students. He does offer a lot of personal stories but they all tie into the lecture and help clarify the course work. You must do the reading and attend class but you should in every class. Overall great class and as easy as you make it. I changed my major to philosophy after this class.
By far my favorite professor at NLC. I was worried about this course, because I thought it was going to be very tough. Dr. Sadler made it so easy to understand. I'm not much of a morning person, but I absolutely loved going to his class. I failed the first test and because of his help, I was able to ace the last two exams and the final. He's great!
Dr. Sadler is a great prof, he cares about his students and their ability to think critically. He is very reasonable and understanding, so long as proper argumentation is given. His exams are very simple since he spends so much time reviewing them. He also is very funny, which makes the class that much more interesting. Best Phil prof out there.
Loved Dr. Sadler! willing to help if you asked for it. I was able to go to his office any time I had a question. His tests weren't that hard if you actually studied! got away without reading and still made a B in the class. Very funny during the class and was able to keep my attention. Highly recommend!
Dr. Sadler is a very funny, approachable man. He is sarcastic at times, but it is all good natured. He is there to help you if you need it. His homework isn't too bad and he prepares you for tests. He gets off topic sometimes with personal stories but at least they are always interesting. :)
Dr. Sadler is one of the BEST professors I've ever had. Unlike most professors he cares about your grade and test are SUPER easy.
He's awesome! This guy is pretty funny and I really enjoyed learning about philosophy in his class. Just do the work and don't forget to study and your golden!
This is my absolute favorite professor! I'm planning on taking him for ethics next spring. I always looked forward to his class, the lectures are always fun to listen to and the quizzes weren't too hard if you did the reading (which you really need to do to do well in here) He taught great lessons about the class but also about life.
Took him for both PHIL1301(Intro to Philosophy) and PHIL2303(Intro to Logic). His grading system puts heavy emphasis on the very few tests he gives, so you must get good grades on tests if you want to pass. Saw many classmates who were struggling to pass Logic because they skipped class/didn't do homework. Very reasonable and funny professor.
Dr. Sadler is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He has changed my life with his advice and his teachings. He is a modern day philosopher and just a real friend. He always puts a smile on your face. This man deserves the highest rating out of any professor I've ever had. He will inspire you, crack you up, and teach you the material.
Sadler is a man of script, a lot of his dialogue seemed forced and it was reciprocated in the audience. When he was honest, though, when he actually revealed himself from his shell it was quite the show, no one grasped it and you had to be quick to grasp the snitch. He laid himself out there, maybe too much, and it was enough.
I loved this class. I took this as a summer class so it was short and much faster so it would be "harder" than a regular semester, but Mr. Sadler made it easy. He gives you reviews for the tests that are identical and takes a grade for participation so that pretty a free A. I have learned more from him than any other prof.
Amazing teacher, Take Him! His class is extremely easy
He is such a great teacher I highly recommend taking him!!!
One of my (if not my top favorite) favorite professors ever ever, from ANY college, 4-year or community. He's hilarious so taking this class at 8 AM wasn't hard at all. He teaches you not just the Philosophy course material, but also how it applies in life, and that's probably why I adore him so much. Also, his tests are easy.
Had no clue what was going on in class, he is a nice guy but can get too personal at times and his logic class makes no sense half the time
I love him, I love his examples and how he relates what we are learning into real life examples to help you understand. He always wants to make sure everyone is understanding the material, and if not he will take the time to go over it again. Hes funny, he is random. He always has jokes that can bright light to the saddest things. Very positive.
Doctor Sadler is the best teacher I have had in Northeast Lakeview. He inspires you to think critically on every life decision you make. His lectures are interesting as well as the subjects covered. The only bad thing is sometimes he gets carried away with side stories.
He shares wayyyy too much information about negative things in his personal life which made me feel uncomfortable. Will NOT accept any late work and will not let you make up any test or quiz. I didnt like the class over all and I dreaded going every week. I passed with like a 75.
I loved him he kept the class laughing and made it clear that he was there to listen if we ever needed to talm to him. He did talk to much about his personal situation. I wouldn't call it an easy A but if you actually listen, take good notes, and do the test reviews then its an easy A.
Mark is the Mr. Finney of NLC. I cant wait to take his other classes. I feel like his office is open doors for anything I could ever want to talk about or want guidence on. I have emailed him with questions from other classes that I thought he might be knowledgable on, and he has answered. He is a really genuine person.
He's the type of teacher that will keep you awake in class. He has a tendency to give out personal stories that doesn't really tie into the lecture but gets a better understanding of his teaching methods. Took the class in the summer though so recommend doing the reading, flashcards, and taking the notes!
Really cool guy. Very passionate and cares about his students. Great teacher, doesn't make the material hard. Highly recommend
The best ethics and philosophy teacher ever
He is an amazing professor! It is all lecture and 3 test plus final, he gives a study guide for each test and has no tricks up his sleeves. The professors here are... yeah but he is my favorite and I hope to have him for a class again. (also his stories are a amazing and sad at times)
He is an excellent teacher. His class is very enjoyable. He uses real life experiences to relate the material in a way it can be understood.
Love Mr. Sadler! Took his PHIL 1301 class and overall loved it from the beginning! He gives real-life situations about him and to us students connecting to the lecture. He talks away from the lecture from time to time, but his stories are so wonderful to listen to. He's was very understanding when I had to miss class due to person reasons. 10/10!
One of the best professors Ive ever had. Sadler is an engaging instructor and really helps you understand the material. You do use the textbook and have readings for every class period, but they arent much. You have to show up to class because some review questions are from the lecture. Hardly any homework at all. I truly enjoyed my semester.
Amazing Professor. He's very active in class and will make almost anything interesting and accessible. He's actually concerned whether you are doing well or not in his class and that you are understanding the material. His sense of humor makes class feel fun. If taking logic class, do yourself a favor and go with Professor Sadler.
This professor is amazing. I would recommend his philosophy class to ANYONE, because he is so full of wisdom and humor. He does not bully students for any religious or political views, all people feel respected and cared for. The class is an easy a if you study a normal amount and do your work. You will learn, guaranteed.
The value of this class can be life changing. This class does not merely teach a student basic facts of the universe, but rather changes the fundamental way a person thinks.
His lectures are in his personal parables. Pay attention. Cheryl-bang-bang in particular. He values human beings. And LOVES to whistle. Really came away learning some applicable life skills.
Mark Sadler is the best professor I have ever taken. His class does require participation so do not take him if you want an easy grade. Expect to learn something from every lecture, either course-related or life-related. He is funny and genuinely cares about his students and their education.
Amazing professor who cares about teaching his students lessons not only to get a good grade but to be better in life. Always available to help and always has great examples!
He's very fun, caring, and understanding.
Really great! Lectures are fun and knowledgable if you're interactive which is recommended being that participation is key to him. Very cool helpful guy!
Ive never had a professor care so much for students as much as he did. He wanted everyone to learn and if you didnt get something we will take the time to make sure you understand. Overall great professor and get the textbook.
Professor Sadler seems to share more personal stories during his lecture rather than teach. He claims it's "trapeze school" yet makes it almost impossible to feel confident while answering his questions and sharing your thoughts in his class. Overall, he's an okay teacher but almost forces his opinions onto you.
I highly recommend Dr. Sadler's class if you are taking Philosophy. I tried to take his Logic class but it filled up very quickly. You have to read in order to understand the lecture but other than that, I really enjoyed this class and I would take it again. 10/10.
His class is really easy as long as you pay attention and study the study guide. He doesn't accept late work ever so make sure you turn in everything on time. If you do those 3 things, you'll pass with an A. He does care about participation too, so be prepared to speak in class.
He was good at keeping our attention. His personal stories made the class much more entertaining. I do feel like he kind of pushed his opinions onto students, but not harshly. Tests are easy as long as u study the reviews. Participate! He gets upset when no one answers his questions and u dont want to see this man in a bad mood
Really great professor. Homework includes really simple and easy Reading quizzes where you fill in missing words and phrases from pages of the textbook. A study guide for all exams is on the website. If you print that out and bring it into class (while filling everything in as he lectures) and memorize that, you'll get an A on the exams every time.
Mrs. Sadler was a great teacher to learn philosophy from. He illustrates difficult philosophical concepts with stories. If someone has a question he tries his best to understand and answer the question. There are a couple of assignments but they are pretty easy. The exams are passable if you do the study guide.
Likes to share more personal life stories instead of actually teach. makes you feel very unconfident in your answers when asked a question. He talks about random things for way too long when he could explain the material better. You're going to feel completely lost for almost the entire class, take another teacher and save your time and money.
Scarily fast at responding to emails, makes sure no one gets left behind in a lecture, easy grading criteria, and overall hilarious professor. What more could you want?
This professor relies heavily on textbook materials, majority of your grade relies on tests, and there is 100% by no means any late or makeup work nor tests. The professor doesnt creat a conductive learning environment and you will be met with a lot of controversial topics regarding race, gender, and misogyny/sexualization/objectification of women.
Professor Sadler provides life stories to help teach the lessons of philosophy and what philosophers taught. Read the textbook, ask questions, and participate even if you feel dumb. I promise it'll be worth it and it is all actually pretty interesting. Also ALWAYS do the review sheets and print them before class. It's worth it.
Sadler is an entertaining and relatable teacher. However, his lectures are almost entirely based on anecdotes and personal stories about his life. This makes useful note-taking incredibly difficult. He does this in a way to try to relate understanding of the material, but it does not really help when it comes time to study for his exams.
Overall easy class. He tells you what can be on the test with the review sheets that he has listed in Canvas, and his lectures are always enjoyable to listen to.
He is a very good professor. He is very respectful but also has a sense of humor and makes the class fun and interesting. Be sure to do the reading it helps you not be lost in the class.
Professor Sadler's Introduction to Philosophy class is, and I mean this without exaggeration, a truly punishing experience. You are continually reminded by Sadler how unintelligent you are compared to him, and punished for trying to gain knowledge if you phrase your questions or answers in a way he doesn't like.
Professor Sadler lectures are funny and entertaining, but that did not help me understand the material. I did all the assignments, never missed a class, participated in class discussion, but was lost most of the time. Print out the exam review sheets and the slides/notes that he has on file and try to get as much answered in class as possible.
Mark Saddler truly cares about his work and his students. He will help you understand anything if you so much as ask, he will even offer to help you find your purpose in life. There are review sheets that contain every question on the tests, if you fail it is because you did not try. There is so much to learn from him; I wish I had more time.
Professor Sadler's class can be hit-or-miss. While his lectures are entertaining, the material can be hard to grasp. Definitely do the review sheets and use Unstuck AI for extra study prep - it really helped me stay on top of things.
The professor is rude and indifferent to student success. He doesn't offer extra credit or review for the final, so you'll end up studying unnecessary material. The course could be good, but his lack of support and unhelpful attitude make it a challenging and frustrating experience. If you must take his class, consider following Mark Throsby on YT.
Mr Sadler's class is a hit or miss, his lectures are very inspiring talking about certain topics, it's very lecture heavy in PowerPoint and prepared to read because most of the information in lectures is from the textbook and you will have to take notes as you go.
Hit or miss is understatement. I personally would not recommend. Too bad I did not know about this site before I took his class. Narcissistic personality. Save yourself a headache and dreary semester.
Mr. Sadler was very good at teaching philosophy. Unfortunately, I don't like him at all. He wasn't talking about his philosophy slide, but sometimes, he talked about his family all day, and we were very upset because it was a waste of time. then, I study a lot to get ready for the test. If you tak him then do study for the test.
I took an accelerated course during the summer. He does care about students, and if you apply yourself you will do just fine. His exam review sheets are a great resource. That is what you need to study and you'll be fine on exams. ASK HIM if you don't know something.
Mr. Sadler, while tough with grading, is a marvelous professor who genuinely cares for the education your getting. Participation during class is crucial. This lets the professor help you understand the material better by making you think critically. Mr. Sadler teaches the material on his slides as well as give genuine life advice. He is the best!
You can tell he loves the subject he teaches. Quizzes are hard, form study groups. If you pay attention you'll learn important life lessons. He teaches you how to think critically about the world around you. I suck at his class but would take it again, very interesting course. Be prepared for reading and studying. You will fail if you don't try.
The class was very fun to be in, lots of joking around. Professor taught the material well, and will slow down if needed. He cares a lot about the students and wants to make sure you understand the material.
The students who are giving this man good reviews are braindead - truly. There were six assignments all year. He spends every lecture ranting about his time in the military, his wife, his Cadillac, and his four degrees, while pretending to be our role model. He's anything but. The study guides have no congruence with what is on the exams.
Avoid at all costs. Sadler spends the entirety of each lecture thinking he's educating his students while poorly relating his life's experiences to Plato, Socrates, and Descartes. If you're a parent reading this, do not let your student take this man's class. He repeatedly sexualizes women, and unapologetically says inappropriate things.
An amazing lecturer who cares about his students. He was very engaging and fun to go back and forth with during class, he encouraged talking and arguments. Study guides are exact to test, make sure to print before class! There were things he said that are a bit controversial I didnt agree with but I still learned a lot from those conversations.
