Hes not a very good teacher to be honest, but if you read the book and get some of his old midterms you will be fine. He puts some easy questions on his test and then puts random experiments that he talks abt for 5 minutes. I found the classical notes for this class were very helpful.

Dr.Sanders sucks..he just talks forever, and barely writes so you have nothing to do during lecture, and eventually you fall asleep. For non majors, this class kicks a**..its horrible. The tests are hard beyond belief, and you have to have a strong scientific background to ace the class. The only positive: a large curve. AVOID this teacher.

Dr. Sanders is good at explaining concepts. However, in his case, it is not good to assume that there is a correlation between how much time he spends talking about a subject and how important it is for the test, so when taking notes, DO NOT MISS A WORD. Wording of questions is often tricky and/or ungrammatical. He does offer extra credit though.

My mistake was going into the class thinking that Sanders was really tough. His lectures are clear (and podcasted!) and his tests are straightforward. You NEED the textbook because his slides are basically figures from the text. His TA's are really nice and helpful, too.

The key to this class(and he will tell you this many times) is problem solving. There were some labeling questions on his exams and few surprise definitions on his final, but the majority of the points on his test were earned from solving problems. The problems on th exams were almost exactly like his practice problems. Lecture were slow and boring

Dr. Sanders' lectures are highly structured and easy to follow. Tests are made to be crystal clear. But when attendance begins waning, he gives (really easy) surprise quizzes. Sure it's boring, but that's what you get for being a science major. Overall, a great professor.

Sanders is 1 of the BEST lecturers I've had. He goes slow and covers the basics in case you forgot them (or didn't learn them). Lectures are long and tiring (BIS101), but if you listen to the podcasts he puts up you'll see he covers EVERYTHING. Exams are tough & require doing practice probs on your own. May sound rude cuz he's old but isn't mean.

Hey is the best lecturer. He explains the content real nicely and goes over everything just in time. Make sure you do the suggested practice problems he assigns over and over again and make sure you understand them and are comfortable with them. If you do that then you are on your way to an A... the curves are high in his class so study hard!

good teacher. material isn't easy, but he gives a generous curve. Discussion is super helpful if your ta is good. Do the homework and attend lecture and you should do alright.

Completely useless. I don't know what happened for the other classes but Sanders is a terrible lecturer. His organisational skills regarding his lectures is absolutely nonexistent. you will have better luck reading the book. One can read the book and attend lecture and then be completely and utterly confused. good luck

He is a INCREDIBLY AWFUL lecturer. the good reviews before are complete bull. I have done relatively well in college with As and Bs but his method of teaching and crappy lectures (no notes he posts) led me to fail the class. GOOD LUCK PEEPO

Prof. Sanders is a great teacher! He uses images from the textbook to help explain the concepts; you just have to take your own notes. If you attend lecture and go through the book to solidify your understanding of what he talked about in lecture, you should do well. Practice with the handouts he gives out and do the practice problems he assigns.

What a boring lecturer! Definitely read the selected chapters while in lecture. He doesn't grade exams accurately or fairly. Exams were also curved b/c avgs were 62% and 58%. Unacceptable avgs if you ask me. Study for the final by going over HW problems he didn't cover in the 1st two midterms. I would recommend taking this class w/ a different prof

I didn't really like this teacher, because he talks really fast & uses powerpoints. However, he's clear and thorough when he goes through problems. Tests are straightforward, but you need to know your stuff. Not the best lecturer. 1 quiz, 2 midterms, and a final.

I don't understand the negative reviews. His lectures are completely straightforward and the exam questions come right out of the suggested practice problems. Do the homework and his handouts and you will get an A. I seriously can't believe that people complained that his class is confusing or hard, because if you just do the work, it's cake.

Very smart guy! not the world's nicest guy though. He's very clear. I found he's exams easy. I got a B+ but that's because I did very bad on the first exam. It's an interesting class, but you have to work hard, it's upper division! go to every class, and review your notes right after lecture = easy A

This teacher has no respect for students and is not willing to help you at all. I would strongly say to take with another instructor. Tests are graded unfairly and like I said if you are looking for a friendly or helpful teacher Sanders is not the guy.

I found Dr. Sanders to be a good lecturer and presenter of the material. He definitely knows his stuff. The grade is based on a take home quiz, two midterms, and a final. Read the text, study the figures, and do the suggested practice problems. I personally never spoke to him, so I can't say much about him in that aspect. Completely doable class.

Sanders is a really good professor. He makes it clear what he expects from his students. He said we would have 5 pop quizes, didn't up not giving any. Make sure you attend all lectures. For the midterms study all the lectures and suggested material from the textbook. Final is mainly new material, with some old. This class is not merely memorizing

Unhelpful, refuses to listen to student inquiries about wrongful grading, used a book and solutions manual he JUST wrote that's FULL of errors. He gave extra credit to students first to find errors in his books. We are NOT your free editors, Sanders. He refused to regrade my exam even though I had EXACTLY what was on the answer key. Horrible man.

Sanders is not a good professor. He knows his stuff (he wrote the book) but he doesn't convey the information in an interesting or effective manner. I really enjoy upper div bio but this class was a struggle to get through. He really enjoys talking about how he wrote the book, I just wish he'd spent more time writing it.

Lectures are simply the textbook in verbatim, which would be fine if his textbook wasn't horribly written and full of errors. On the plus side, tests were straightforward if you did the readings. Do not recommend.

Required Mastering Genetics, somewhat helpful. I didn't like his lecturing style; he talked as if he was reading out of a book (which is funny because he is the textbook author), but it was incredibly soporific. Try to get the most recent edition of the textbook because there are less errors. The 2nd midterm was specific; easy final. Do the hw!

Great guy and very mellow and straightforward with his lecture which is 100% each chapter he assigned out of the book he knows by heart! I would read the chapters before class and take notes/highlight in the book. Do the hw and tests no too bad because all written no mc. Overall loved the class and got solid A. Would take him again and recommend

His lectures are terrible! All he does is talk and occasionally write a few terms on the board (without definitions). He expects you to know every detail in his textbook. First midterm was easy, second was difficult, final was alright. Would not recommend.

His lectures were unbearable; at least for me. I eventually stopped going and just read the textbook (which he wrote. Hes a little unclear on what will be on the exams. First test is more math/probability driven while the last one and the final were more concept driven. The curve was good though. Overall, did not care for him as a teacher.

I took his intro to archaeology class and his magic, witchcraft, and science class and i have to say they were both pretty interesting. He is really into what he does and it comes out in his teaching. If you come to class and listen intently you won't really need to study for tests. TAKE NOTES. But you do need your textbook for the online quizzes.
