Funny. Makes class enjoyable. Doesn't post notes online so you have to go to class if you want to get all the material. Class is easy. Take him if you can.
Absolutely one of the best professors I have ever had in my 5 years of college! He's funny, energetic, and positively a fantastic teacher. Not to mention, his class is somewhat easy for a 400 level and he's not too bad on the eyes either! I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone:)
Entertaining guy...has a career in selling used cars if teaching doesn't work out. Very clear lectures, makes sure all is understood. Of the two books, one is outstanding, the other makes a good sleeping-aid...but READ! 1/3 of his test is from reading alone. Overall, interesting and timely (wich is rare) topics.
Nice and interesting. You must read the lecture notes and book in order to do well!!!
Very enthusiastic guy... the class is annoying though because he doesnt post anything online so you have to come to class to get all the notes. He also takes half the tests from the textbook so you actually have to do some reading. Very nice guy and semi- interesting class.
Nice guy, every enthusiastic and passionate about what he does, but terrible teacher, no notes on ub learns, tests are made to confuse you. If you have all the notes and know all the information the questions are written in a way that is meant to confuse you so you get it wrong.dissapointed even though i like seery, hes just not a good teacher
The person below me took the words out of my mouth.
I really liked the class. Seery does a great job at keeping you interested during lectures. Lecture isn't mandatory, but the notes aren't online so it's a good idea to attend. You also need to keep up with the reading or you'll really struggle with the exams (which by the way aren't cumulative!). Overall a great class and a great professor.
This class will ruin your gpa. Dr. Seery is a really nice guy. You want to like his class but you just can't because the tests are way too hard. the class itself is interesting, but the tests are made to confuse you so it's difficult to get anything usefull out of the lectures or notes.
one of my favorite classes. the test are fair but you have to read the textbook which i found to be quite interesting. you have to go to class to get the notes, but he makes 50 minutes go by fast. i would def recommend taking social psy with him if you have to take it
good teacher, very into teaching but his tests are unreasonable and he doesnt believe in curves.. he expects to much. and takes more than 50 minutes each class and doesnt care.
Seery is really passionate about social psych, which is definitely a good thing. Tests are pretty straightforward - 50% from lecture, 50% from book. Doesn't post notes on ublearns, so going to class is a good idea.
He's really dedicated to teaching and his lectures are really interesting. His notes aren't online so you should really attend the lectures. There's a lot of reading involve but the textbook is actually interesting. Exams are fair. It's all about how much you're willing to put in to receive a decent grade.
This class will ruin your GPA, he is really cute guy, but the test is too hard
Professor Seery is a great teacher, he is very passionate about social psychology and thus gives you all the important information you need. the tests are fair as long as you go to class to get the notes since they are not posted on UBLEARNS and you must read the book. i would highly recommended this class.
Great guy
He's an awesome teacher, but his exams are strange. They seem pretty straightforward....when you're studying, make sure you feel out the applications or scenarios you could apply to class topics
I really liked him. He's into what he's teaching, knows what he's talking about, and cares about his students. what more could you ask for? Tests aren't as hard as people are saying, because he always has a full day of review beforehand and highlights everything you need to know. if a teacher does that for you and still do crappy, it's your fault.
Take this class if you can, it is wicked easy and interesting. I had a gpa of 1.8 and got an A. You HAVE to attend class and write down the examples he uses and he gives a lecture on which sections of the book you need to read so you don't need to study until the night before and you will still get an A. People who complained were just lazy
He's passionate about social psychology and the class is interesting, but his exams are tricky. Study the concepts, NOT definitions.
He thinks he's hosting a game show. I attend every class and read but find the exams much more difficult than how the material is presented in class. A likable guy but class is WAY to hard for something 90% of us don't want to take. I wouldn't have a problem with him if his exams were easier. Psych majors take it, but others get credit elsewhere.
i studied, attended every lecture and did the readings but i ended up getting a low grade for the course. i thought the tests were hard.
Seery is a GREAT person to have early in the morning. He keeps class interesting and he is a great lecturer. The material he teaches is interesting as well. If you study and look over things in the book, you'll do fine in the class.
He's very enthusiastic about social psychology. His class really isn't all that difficult as long as you go to class and do all of the readings. If you do the work you're suppose to do the class is really easy with minimal studying necessary. Don't do what you're supposed to do and you're screwed.
Pretty middle of the road prof. He's very enthusiastic about his class which makes it far more enjoyable to sit through, but its not easy either. If you go to lecture, take notes, and do the basics you're fine. The 4 exams make up the whole grade though so be cautious.
Awesome professor! 4 exams are all that make up your grade and questions from the text are always on the exams. Notes are not online so you definitely need to come to class. Read the book and take good notes in order to get an A.
Interesting class. He's very interested in the subject. Tests aren't bad as long as you go to class.
Really enjoyed this class. Seery has tons of energy and enthusiasm, which keeps it interesting. Lecture notes aren't online, so attendance is important. Tests are from class and the book, but they are pretty easy if you study. 4 tests make up the grade, and they're all worth 25%
He is a great professor! The class is made up of four exams. Each one has questions you would only know from reading the textbook so make sure you keep up on the readings. Coming to class is crucial because he gives many research examples and findings that are on the exam. I would highly recommend him!
Dr. Seery was the best! He presented the material efficiently and still had the entire lecture hall laughing often. You create your own success, Seery is helpful but the grade is certainly not handed to you. Attend every class, take good notes, and do not skip the textbook readings - they are very important come test time. I highly recommend Seery.
Such a great professor, I wish he could teach every class! He makes the material interesting and is really funny too, he always had the class laughing.Notes aren't posted,so you have to attend lecture. A lot of the tests are composed of material from the book too so you will need that and he does a textbook review the class before each test-attend!
Your grade is based on 4 exams, equally counted. They're not too bad - usually 35-40 multiple choice questions. If you read the book, you should get an A.
GREAT GUY. HOT TA. need I say moar?
Dr. Seery is the best professor i've ever had at UB. Even though its a big lecture hall he really does care about his students. He is willing to help you and also give you tips on how to study. Go to lecture and READ the book.
Fantastic instructor, easily makes the podium of the best classes I've taken at UB. Tests are straightforward. Study the text book, go to class, and you'll do quite well. This class was awesome.
He's an awesome guy and you can easily tell he loves teaching and loves his topic. His lectures never get boring and it's easy to listen throughout the entire class because he keeps them interesting and fun. The tests aren't terrible but you NEED to read the book and pay attention to the examples given in lecture.
Cool teacher. The best lecturer I have had here at UB. Paces the class very well for note takers. Book reading is not overwhelming. It is easy to keep up if you stick to the pace, which is about a chapter per week. Super interesting class. Learned a lot from this guy. Definitely recommend taking this class. Tests are totally fair.
(Social Psychology) Professor Seery is a great teacher. This class is very fair. I personally think the textbook is wordy but it is important to read it for the tests.
Dr Seery is a very knowledgeable man who is clear in explaining concepts. He likes to give several examples just to ensure that we understand his lecture. It is important to read the textbook and since notes are not posted, students SHOULD go for class. Also, revise regularly so that you won't have to cram everything from the textbook before exam.
Excellent teacher. He is really enthusiastic about what he is teaching and it keeps the class interesting. Easy class as long as you go and take notes (he doesn't put notes online). The class seemed boring at first but once you get into it more it gets really interesting and made me love social psych.
He lectures very dry notes to you. His test consists of textbook readings and notes but EVERYTHING in those chapters are FAIR GAME. I don't know if it is just the professor or the psy department but I am taknig com class and professors there give review sheets instead of making you read stuff that may or may not be on the test.
Attendance NOT mandatory however he doesn't post lecture slides online to try and get you to come to class. Lectures are straightforwardeasy to follow. Textbook is necessary for exam studying. Before exams he discusses exactly what to study in the book. Only grades for the class are 4 multiple choice exams. Great clear professor!
Very respective to the students, if the students wrong, he always turns it around and applies it to what their learning in an extremely nice way. Never puts down the students. Sometimes he makes the material funny. He brings in lots of material that isn't in the textbook which makes it more interesting.
Class was very enjoyable. He is a very helpful professor and his lectures are always interesting and fun. You need the textbook for this class however the TA will do a review that covers most of the textbook material. Best class I've had in 3 years at UB!
He is an awesome speaker. You will walk out of his class feeling better about your day. He is interesting, makes a lot of jokes, and you can tell he really loves what he does. I would recommend this class as well as doing research at his lab. He is also extremely hot, in case his lectures are not enough to get you to class alone.
This class was honestly pretty tough. It is graded based off of 4 exams that are tough. If you do not read the chapters, you will fail. He doesn't specify what will be on he exam from the book.
Dr. Seery is an awesome professor. The class is kind of tough but if you study the notes and what the TA tells you to look over in the textbook you'll do good. Theres 4 exams so theres chances to bring up your grade. You have to go to lectures since he doesn't post notes. He's really funny and HOT. like super sexy so classes are nice to go to.
His voice gets annoying after the first couple weeks. Otherwise the course is interesting.
TESTS ARE TOUGH! You need to attend to lectures AND read the book thoroughly. I hated his exam curriculum. Only 40 questions on the exam. BOOO. I enjoyed reading the book than attending his class. I repeat : GO TO CLASS! i went to class all the time, and his exams still didn't seem easier, but you need the notes! and discussion!
The Grade is only based on 4 exams. In order to get an A, you can only get average max 3 wrong on each exam. The Lecture Notes and the Textbook knowledge are extremely critical, important!!!!! There will be a textbook review section before every exam. Don't miss it! Read the textbook!!!
Must go to classes an take in depth notes, do not be on your phone the entire time. His slides aren't posted on UB learns nor are very informative, you must write down more on what he is saying and elaborates on. Make sure you attend class and review session on the textbook. There are questions specific to the textbook. I enjoyed this class.
Very interesting class. Great professor. Test are lecture and textbook based, and notes don't go online, so make sure you read and go to lecture. Tests aren't easy but if you keep up on both of those things you will be fine.
Best professor I've had at UB thus far. Explained concepts very well and kept lectures interesting throughout by giving examples and adding humor. Exams are easy as long as you understand the concepts. Doesn't post notes online so attendance is essential to passing.
Professor Seery is awesome. His humor is great and contemporary so it's not like you feel as if you have to laugh. I should have read, I didn't and if I had I would've gotten an A/B, instead I'm looking a little lower but I don't blame Professor Seery for a second. He tells you straight up what will be tested on, textbook is just a necessity.
Dr Seery is a great professor. There are two things that you MUST do to pass. 1) Attend lecture. The notes are not online and the exams are highly based on lecture. 2) Read the textbook. He isn't kidding when he says a third of the exam is from the book. That being said, it's a reasonable amount of work and a great class! Amazing professor!
Professor Seery is my favorite professor so far at UB. He knows what he's doing and he lectures very well. He keeps the class engaged, talks about the material in an interesting way, and is just an all-around great professor. You must attend class to pass as exam questions are very specific to things said in lecture; you must also read the text.
GREAT prof. He is so funny in lecture and does a great job at presenting the material. Exams are extremely easy IF you go to class and prepare accordingly. Take good notes in class (not posted online) and STUDY THE BOOK MATERIAL. Go to the TA review session-helps a lot and gives you hints on what to focus on and study from the book.
He is a great professor. Show up and you should pass. I did not read a page of the readings although it obviously helps. I'm sure I would've gotten an A if I did. LOVELOVELOVE his class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Seery is a wonderful professor. His lectures are informative, interesting, and very well paced. You actually need to read the book, you'll struggle a lot without it. Four tests, 25% each, no homework or extra credit. Don't skip class, he won't post notes.
Grade is based solely on exams, which aren't too hard. Doesn't post the notes but material isn't too difficult to grasp. Very reading heavy, but still one of the most interesting courses I've taken at UB, so I didn't even mind putting in the work.
Professor Seery is a great lecturer and makes material interesting. Getting the notes is vital for a good grade, however they are not posted online so make a friend in class incase you miss any. TA gives a textbook overview the class before each exam. Only bad thing is that your grade is based solely on the average of 4 tests.
He is an awesome professor; lectures are interesting and you easily remember what he talks about. Make sure to take lots of notes though. Also, READ YOUR TEXTBOOK!!! I made the mistake of skimming the chapter summaries instead and I did not do well on the first test at all. If I had read the book, like for the other 3 tests, I would have got an A.
Professor Seery is the best. He clearly cares about the material and makes lectures interesting. The grading criteria is clearfour exams, each exam based 1/3 on textbook material, 1/3 on lecture, and 1/3 lecture/book overlap. Do not skip or skim the readings, and go to lecture; overall, great class and great professor!
He's one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are amazing. The only downside is that he doesn't post his lectures online. So you kinda have to go to class. Either that or get a partner to trade notes with throughout the semester. But yeah take him if you can. The tests are straightforward.
Exams are very straight forward. You HAVE to read the book if you want to do well on the exam. Also, don't skip class. For every class you miss, consider that points you're not going to get on the exam because he literally asks "based on lecture..." questions. As long as you attend every class, read (not skim) the textbook, you should get an A.
Textbook was so helpful in this class, as every test was based on textbook and lectures. He is by far the best lecturer I have taken at UB and clearly cares about the content. Take him if you get the chance.
This isn't really the kind of class you can just breeze through. He doesn't post his slides anywhere so you are basically forced to go to class. The only grades you get in this class are the 4 exams. Read the textbook!! Overall a good course though and if you study you will do great. He is very enthusiastic about class and funny sometimes.
This professor was amazing. Definitely go for his classes because the slides are not uploaded, so you will have to copy the lecture notes down. He uses the textbook as well. You will have to read both for his classes, in order to get good grades for this exam. This class consists of 4 exams in total and that's it. His lectures are very fun too.
Amazing professor! Don't skip this class because he does not post the slides, but everything that's on the exams is straight from the lecture, or from what he tells you to study from the textbook. If you put in the work, this is a super easy class. It is also extremely interesting, and Dr. Seery is a great lecturer!
For PSY 331, it is absolutely necessary to have a textbook and to keep up with readings
Makes exams so much harder than they need to be. For this class specifically, he assigns chapters to read from the books you get for the class but never reviews them and never correlates them into what he presents during lecture. Attendance is not taken but he doesnt post lecture notes so if you miss class, you better have a friend to give u notes.
No slides or lecture recordings are posted so you MUST go to class... He also tests on the book material that is never reviewed in lectures (except one review day by the TA). However, he's a fantastic lecture but if you read, go to class, and study, you'll be fine
I am an A student and received a C in this class. I went to office hours, read the book, went to all lectures and still did bad. He told me there was nothing I can do about my grade and that I just needed to try harder. Worst experience ever.
Loved this class and he is passionate about the subject which is great! His tests are kind of rough. There are only 4 multiple choice tests and there is no option for extra credit. If you don't take tests well I don't recommend. Other than that he is really great.
Go to class and read the textbook and you will find yourself getting A's on each of the four tests! Dr. Seery makes the lectures interesting but they are not posted online so don't skip class. There are four exams, noncumulative.
Dr. Seery is a very good professor. He is very intelligent and uses plenty of examples to help you learn the material. He is very procedural and may seem boring at first, but his lectures get very interesting and thought provoking. The exams are half lecture/half book material so you will need the book. He does not post slides or allow phones.
Dr. Seery give great, interesting lectures. He adds personal stories and humor to make you remember the material better. That being said, before an exam he was very rude and harsh to a proctor handing out exams. I thought of him very highly until he showed his true colors being so unkind. Great professor, just not the best person.
Don't take this class if you are terrible at multiple choice exams because the only thing you will be graded on is 4 exams! The lectures are interesting but you NEED to show up to every single one! Also read the textbook, don't skim it, he asks very specific details and if you miss one detail you are most likely screwed. I wish there was extra cred
Do yourself a favor and don't take this class. He grades based on only four exams throughout the semester each worth 25% of your grade. So if your not a good test taker your going to fail. The exams are harder and detailed orientated, which by the way, can only be found in the textbook which he never reviews. Trust me its not worth it.
Good lecturer, but your entire grade is based on only exams. Exams are mostly lecture material but there is stuff that's only in the textbook. There ARE textbook review sessions for every exam, however, which are VERY helpful. Just go to class and go over key concepts in the textbook and you should do fine.
The class is 4 exams based half on lecture and half on reading the textbook. The lectures are very interesting and he is super knowledgeable and enthusiastic! I enjoyed the class but the exams were moderately difficult.
Social psychology was great but be prepared to read! The textbook is necessary to pass. He will answer all your questions and is very caring. There's only 4 tests so if you don't do well on one test, your grade will plummet. Be on top of textbook chapters and although attendance isn't necessary, he doesn't post the slides so pay attention.
Decent guy but not fair of a teacher. 4 tests make up the whole grade. Also, you know when he says youre not trying hard enough and the class averages for his tests are all C, something isnt right AT ALL. Find another professor or class thats a little better and less destine for you to get a poor grade. Im a solid A/B student saying this too.
interesting lecturing style, but your grade is only based on 4 exams and nothing else. If you pay attention in lecture, and read what is based on his textbook review youll do great!
Definitely wish that there were opportunities for extra credit or that there were other things we were graded on (it was just 4 exams, 25% each). Lectures were asynchronous, but were still quite engaging despite this; however the exams contained a lot of very specific TB/lecture questions that made it quite difficult to complete in the time limit
I really liked this class. It's hard but he makes it so interesting. The only thing is if a class based on only lecture textbook and exams isn't for you then don't take it
Take this class! The lectures are very interesting and there is a textbook review before every exam. As long as you pay attention in lecture and read the textbook chapters you will get an A!
This class is based off 50% lecture materials and 50% book while attendance isn't taken, it's important to obtain the lecture notes from a peer student as they will help you in studying for exam. Professor is very knowledgeable about what he is teaching. you have to have an interest in social psychology in order to be fully engaged and enjoy.
Dr. Seery is a fantastic professor. Lectures are engaging and slides are well-organized. He is clearly passionate about research, and he provides studies as examples of topics discussed in class, making them easy to understand. Review sessions cover everything you need to know for the exam, and are well-organized and easy to follow.
Dr. Seery is by far my favorite professor at UB. His lectures are really engaging so if you pay attention and take good notes you're pretty much set. The textbook material he assigns is tested on heavily on multiple choice questions on exams so you NEED to read the chapters and understand them to do well.
Dr. Seery is a great professor, but his exams are ridiculously hard. I would not take this class for an elective unless you're very interested in the topic because it is very stressful. The lecture content is exciting and easy to understand, but he includes crazy specific information from the textbook on the exams, which is impossible to remember.
Dr. Seery is one of my favorite professors at UB! This class is (essentially) all about stress, but he makes the course very engaging through his animated personality and lectures. Although, you have to read the textbook very carefully because his exams have 50 - 60% of the books' content. Overall this was an interesting and relevant class!
Graded by 4 tests each 25% (One that's during finals week), lectures are not recorded so if you miss, get notes from a classmate. Test Content 1/3 Lecture, 1/3 Textbook, 1/3 Shown in Both. He makes lectures enjoyable and is enthusiastic about the content. He has a textbook review the class day before the test, but still stay on top of the textbook.
Great professor who cares about the material. The class is graded by 4 tests which are EXTREMELY hard. The most difficult tests ever so you need to make sure you study a lot and stay on top of the material to do well.
Grades based on only four exams so you need to do well. Doesn't post lecture so attendance is basically mandatory. Need to understand concepts. One on one office hours helped me a lot. He's very nice and enthusiastic. Exam reviews were too fast. Lots of reading nearing the middle of the semester.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had in all 4 years of college. The final grade in this course is based off 4 exams with no other assignments or points you can gain throughout the course. If you are a bad test taker, forget about this class. He is difficult to work with and will not help you in any aspect. Lecture slides are not posted.
This class has taught me things about myself and those around me that I had never considered. Not to be corny but like I've never had a class this interesting. It starts slow, but after the first exam you will get into some very interesting topics. graded on 4 exams, but they're not cumulative and I thought they were quite simple.
Genuinely my favorite professor and class I've ever taken. He made class so interesting, and the content was very easy to pick up and understand. Your grade being made up of 4 exams is hard, but as long as you have a passion for the content you will learn it easy. Try and stay on top of your textbook bc it's definitely heavy in the exam. fun class!
Dr. Seery is not a bad professor, just not one I clicked with. Class grade is made up of 4 exams which is not ideal if you screw up one of them. The material is interesting, and if you study correctly for the exams you will do fine. No electronics allowed in class, all paper notes. He doesn't post slides either so going to class is beneficial.
Professor Seery's class is challenging but engaging. The 4 exams are tough, so staying on top of the textbook and lecture material is key. unstuckstudy proved helpful for study prep. Attendance is mandatory, but the enthusiastic lectures make it worthwhile.
this class in my opinion was really hard, the tests were basically all about the book and we NEVER talked about the book material in class. he grades soooo harshly and he wants the written responses/essays to be exactly how he reviewed them or you will get points off. for a class about stress, you'll be stressed that's for sure!!!
I really enjoy Seery as a professor, and also found the content very interesting, but man these exams were difficult. Graded off of 4 essays (2 pages, extremely easy) and 4 exams (not easy). Exams had very specific textbook questions and it felt hard to study for the exam. Even when I felt confident about an exam, I still managed a bad grade.
The Professor is a lovely and caring person but an extremely tough grader- the final grade is based only on a few criteria and is heavily nuanced and exam-based. Moreover, no lecture slides are given out and computers/technology are allowed and I struggled with this course. Overall, I do not recommend taking this class as it was boring and dull.
Lovely Professor but an extremely tough grader. There is a technology policy and as someone with ADHD, I struggled with this. The grading criteria are based only on a few things—exams and a few essays regarding papers, both of which are graded significantly harshly. The exams are challenging and based on book materials that lectures do not discuss.
This was genuinely reallyYY hard for a psy class. The class is solely based on four exams, NO extra credit. Every exam is worth 25% so if you do poorly on the first ur cooked for the rest. You HAVE TO take the notes by hand (like he makes us hand write our notes). The prof. is nice and has a great personality but TAKE A DIF PSY CLASS NOT THIS ONE!!
he's genuinely a good professor and very passionate. the class was only graded on 4 exams all worth 25% of your grade, final isn't cumulative but would not recommend skipping lectures since exams are lecture and textbook based. no posted lecture slides or extra credit. tough but very interesting class, he explains things very clearly.
best professor i've had so far, he's hilarious and relatable. the class is pretty easy tbh if you READ and take notes , make sure you go to class even tho it's not mandatory bc it's easy to fall behind and getting notes from other people isn't that helpful. there's no homework but there's only 4 exam grades that make up your whole grade
I absolutely loved his class. At first no posting of slides felt intimidating, but you learn 1000% better without this. Taking them handwritten is NOT HARD; he doesn't speed through the content so you have MORE than enough time to get it all down. You are only graded on 4 tests, but if you study they are easy. (and no hw!) He is an amazing prof!
