Class was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. He's funny and makes the class interesting. He lets the students choose the topics. We have to do 5 speeches, several quizzes, a midterm & final. He takes roll every day (uniquely & in a fun way). You must show up to get a good grade. Quizzes are easy if you read the syllabus. Favorite class.

professor shannon is an excellent teacher. he is well informed and has a lot to offer. he has a great knowledge about speech as well as little tid-bits that make the class fun and enjoyable. take this teacher whenever possible! if you just show up to class and pay attention in class, it's an easy A.

I had no interest in Speech and took it only as a mandatory course, but Mr. Shannon totally changed all that. He was an awesome teacher, one of the best I've met at LAHC. Mr. Shannon is a really cool teacher. As long as you show up to class everyday you won't fail the class. Everytime we know we are having a quiz the day before he reviews everything that will be on the quiz just pay attention, take notes, and study. Trust me this class is easy and very interesting.when you do your speeches practice before time.

Although speech isn't the most fun class, his engaging atitude and demeanor made it entertaining as could be. If you have to take speech, Shannon is the way.

Professor Shannon is an awsome Speech teacher! At first I was scared, but he warms up to you and helps you overcome your fear to get up in front of an audience to do a speech. Great teacher. My first college class and if the rest of college is like his class i will make a career out of going to school. As long as you pay attention you should have no problem. A student in class is getting an A when he thought he would fail. Even if you don't need this class I recomend taking it.

A wonderful techer. Reviews each and every quiz a million times. 8 quizzes, 1 mid term and 1 final, 5 speeches. Points for attendance and being on time. Easy A, just listen to lectuers, and be on time, very apprrroachable -- easy grading. please take him for speech. wants you to learn. Good man.

The best teacher of alltime! He is funny! But you have to show up. The class is fun but kind of boring first few weeks. Not super easy like some previous posts. Lots of quizzes and 2 big tests. You do 5 speeches. I lost points because I was late a lot. It cost me an "A". Show up on time, take notes and you'll be OK.

Dont waste your money on buying the book, sure its $40 but all the lecture notes come out of the book and he LITERALLY tells you whats going to be on the test! *side note: he is not hot! he's a fat dude, but super chill!

I had to take this class to graduate. I waited 4 years because I didn't want to take this class. It turns out it was the best class I ever had in college. I learned more from this class and Professor Shannon than I did in any other class. Real life stuff that you can use outside of class. He's the best! Funny and fair.

Class was interesting and actually fun! I took it in the summer and time flew by. Better to take in the fall or spring, 5 speeches spread out over more time. Had to do 2 speeches a week in the summer. He is a great teacher and I learned more from his class than any other class. It's a speech class but you learn about a lot of topics.

Prof Shannon is cool. Often funny and pretty animated. He has some funny speech stories that really relate to class and life. You do have to go to class because he takes roll every day in a fun way with a question that every one answers with an impromptu speech. He didn't let us out early much because we had a full class & we had lots of speeches.

THE BEST! I came back to school after several years away. I was scared. His class was the best. Always positive (enlarging) and fun. I did not know he was a comedian or a magician when I signed up for the class. I learned more in his class than I learned in years in others. Word of advice, pick interesting speech topics and don't bet against him.

You Cannot Not pass this class if you try. Be an Enlarger, and have fun. This was by far the most fun class I have had. Take very good notes and you won’t even have to read the book. This was fun, he tells jokes, does magic, and by the end of the class I almost felt like I had known bob all my life and I still haven’t met the guy.

i really liked this class i would have been happier if the class was more than twice a week. I was always waiting for it to be tuesday or wednesday. I thought this class was very interesting. The only thing i didn't like was presenting my speeches. I always got nervous. My first semester in college and i am glad that i chose speech 101.

Good guy, GREAT teacher, the subject itself is a subject that most would hate, but with Mr Shannon it was fun, and I doubt any other teacher could make that class as interesting, and fun as he did. I pity the other students that didn't get him as a teacher. For once, I'm glad I procrastinated or else I would never have been in his class.

This was as much fun as you can have learning. Take notes and read your book! Tests are NOT multiple choice so you need to know the material. Prof. Shannon makes it very interesting and FUN! He's a blast! But he's no pushover so go to class and do all your work. Grades on a straight point system, so show up do all the work and you're in good shape!

Fun class and super fun instructor. I actually looked forward to going to a class! This was a class I didn't want to take but had to in the nursing program. You get your tests, quizzes and grades back immediately. He makes the class have fun and you learn about a lot of things besides speech. Favorite class and teacher of all time.

I thought I would hate speech class, but Mr. Shannon made it way easier, and way less stressful, I highly recommend taking his class.

Honestly I really thought I would hate speech, I even considered dropping it because Im mortified of public speaking but he honestly makes the class so fun. I don't even know how its possible to not get an A. The speeches aren't hard at all he grades mostly on content rather than delivery and light reading should do it for the quizzes and exams.

At first, I thought I would be in deep trouble with this class because speech was my #1 fear. I started out with the class by seating in the back seat and then make my ways to the front because he was that good. I had never spend more then 1hrs in the class and wanted stay, but in his 3 hrs class, I really missed the class after that 3 hrs.

Professor Mark is by far the best professor I've had. Speech is the one subject besides math that scares everyone but he makes it so easy and more than anything COMFORTABLE. 3 hours in his class felt like nothing. His lectures are always entertaining and so informative. I learned so much in his class. Professor Shannon is the most amazing professor I have taken in LAHC. He is so hilarious and will make every class meeting interesting. He makes everyone feel very comfortable about public speaking. I can honestly say that if you plan on taking communications 101, you have to take it with Professor Shannon. He is the best.

Professor Shannon is one of the best professors at LAHC. I was terrified of public speaking but thanks to him this was one of my favorite classes. He really cares about all of his students and does his best to make the class fun and interesting.

I really enjoyed the the lectures and my classmates. Almost felt like a family there. Show up on time, do the presentations, and you will be ok. Proffesional teacher well educated. Really awesome.

I just absolutely loved this class! I would take it all over again if I needed to. Professor Shannon is one of the top best professors and cares about his students. His lectures are very interesting, especially if you take him at night. Test are easy along with a study guide. Plenty of speeches, but well laid out as to what he's looking for.

I was not looking forward to taking this class because I'm terrified of public speaking. But Prof. Shannon is GREAT! His goal is for you to be comfortable with everything and everyone so when its time for speeches its easy! He gives you the formula to be successful in his class. Show up, read book, study for quizzes and exams and participate.

I was skeptical of remaining in the class after finding out how many speeches one would have to do but Prof. Shannon makes you feel comfortable. His purpose is to see all of his students succeed not only in his class but in society. One will feel more confident and brave to give a speech in any kind of social gathering.

I was not excited to that this class because I knew it would consist of public speaking and making speeches. He made me feel comfortable even though I never wanted to do the speeches. He always had funny stories during his lectures. Class was never boring. I would highly recommend taking this class with prof. shannon.

Shannon is the best professor I've had at LAHC. I had him for PACE Comm 101 (only 8 weeks) but it felt longer. He really helped us come out of our shell with public speaking while making us all come together somehow. We had such a fun time in class while still learning a lot! Tests come from the lectures mostly but read the class book just in case!

If you are the typical student, scared of public speaking, do not worry. This class was actually very entertaining, it exceeded my expectations. Fun lectures, funny stories, have some fun with the speeches. Trust me, this man has a 5.0 rating in each school he teaches at for a reason. Take this class you wont regret it.

Easy A. This teacher is great. He involves the entire class and makes sure you're comfortable. If you're afraid of public speaking, don't worry. He makes it easy for you to present; he makes jokes to lighten the mood. Exams are too easy, and you'll learn so much from him. Would take this class again.

Professor Shannon was awesome, really easy going but also tried his best to make you feel comfortable when making speeches. I hate speaking in front of the class but he helps you and encourages you. He is really funny and time goes by really fast in his class. I would take this class again if i had too.

He gives great feedback, gives a wonderful environment for people who may be shy giving speeches. He doesn't let you get out early but his class is definitely interesting. Keeps you entertained for the whole class. We had 4 quizzes and 1 midterm 1 final. Definitely a must take for any speech class . By far the best professor at Harbor

Professor Shannon is the BEST Teacher ever! I failed public speaking before and got an A in his class, he makes public speaking easy as long as you show up on time and do the work, he is super funny and everyone in the class loved him! its like being part of a family and he truly cares about all his students success. Attendance is a MUST!

I'd absolutely recommend taking Mr. Shannon for Comm101. He's by far one of the best professors at Harbor. I was so shy at the start of this class, but by the end I was able to step out of my comfort zone and engage in public speaking confidently! His lessons are very practical and can be applied in everyday life. He really cares about his students

He's a funny guy. I enjoyed his class and it felt nice to be pushed to the limit of your public speaking skills and interact with classmates. He tells many stories that are hard to believe but are entertaining nonetheless. His tests and speeches are the bulk of the grade, with speeches being basically done for you. The test is based on the text.

One of the best professors I've ever taken at Harbor College. I sure was uncomfortable at first but it's been a life changing experience. Make sure you sit in the front!!!

The hardest part about this class is giving speeches in front of the class. Like many I am terrified to give speeches, however Prof. Shannon helped me become more comfortable. He makes the class fun that you want to come to class. Theres little to no homework, quite a few quizzes. He is very caring and helpful. I would take his class again!!!

I was so scared talking in front of people. Public Speaking was my fear. Professor Shannon's class changed that. Professor Shannon is very hilarious. His lectures are not boring. I presented 6 times. Every day he does question of the day for participation points. For his exams review the notes ans skim through the book. His exams are not difficult.

If you like boring professors and dry lectures, this class isn't for you. Professor Shannon helps get you out of your comfort zone when it comes to Public Speaking. His positivity and enlarging teaching style easily made this my favorite class ever! Not much homework, and easy grader. He brings together an amazing class, and leaves us wanting more.

The funniest teacher I've ever had. Although I hate public speaking, the speeches we had to do were fun and he makes speaking in public so much easier. I definitely recommend reading the textbook though because there are some things on the test that aren't said in the lecture. Other than that, the best class I've taken.

Professor Shannon is an amazing professor. Most students walk in to class the first day fearing public speaking and finish their last speech with no problem. He truly cares about his students and has a real passion for teaching. Grading criteria is straightforward - do your work and you will earn an "A"

Amazing professor! Shannon made it so much easier for me to speak in front of an audience. What I loved most from the class is how unique we made it; there were speeches that left us in tears or bursting in laughter. Make sure to not be late or he'll call you out (esp. for tests). He is simply the best and I would 100% take his class again! Easy A!

Speaking in front of people scary yes but Shannon will make it easy peasy for you. Do all assignments and present all speeches. At first it will be nerve wrecking but after it will get easier. He provides study guides so quizzes and final is very easy. He already has a format for his outlines so all you do is plug in your info and wala hw done.

Professor Shannon is one of the most charismatic professors I have had. He is interested in teaching and helping you grow, but he will not let you pass if you slack. He has an interesting background, but he keeps it about the students and will warn you when you're falling off track. His stories are inspirational. If possible,take him! No regrets!

Public speaking sucks but you wont regret taking Professor Shannon. Hes there to make the process as easy and as fun as possible for you so if you TRY you will pass because he wants you to get out of your shell. His tests are fairly easy as long as you review the syllabus and read the assigned chapters. Final is just the tests put together.

YALL HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS HANDS DOWN!! I totally recommend taking his class. I almost took Comm 121 Interpersonal because I seen that it was public speaking. BUT HE TOTALLY HELPS EASE YOU INTO SPEAKING. Additionally, the book gives good examples and tips (read it but you don't neeeeed it). He has amazing stories. EASY A JUST FOR TRYING.

Take this class! He teaches with narration style so class is always entertaining! Read the short chapters because half of the test is from the lecture and the other from the text book. Come to class and get free points.

One of the best professors I've had. If you hate the idea of taking communications because it's nerve racking to speak in front of a class, take this class with him. He creates an environment that allows for the nervous ones to feel comfortable enough to speak. Make sure you read assigned chapters in the textbook and you'll get a good grade.

Professor Mark Shannon is an Awesome teacher. If you have an emergency and have to be absent for a few days he will understand as long as you communicate with him. He is willing to work with you. He is also very inspirational and funny.

Need to get credit for comm101? Are you afraid of public speaking? This is the class for you. Professor Shannon teaches in a narrative way making it easy to understand and relate to. Throughout the course he will ease you way up to speaking in front of class. He encourages you and ask to you pass it along so you will build confidence.

Probably one of my favorite classes I attended so far. The energy in this class was amazing , great people and very supportive. Shannons humor is not for everyone but i enjoyed it ! The speeches are very fun and the outlines are easy points. Attend class , take notes and youll pass this class with no problem.

Participation matters and you must be on time and present for the whole class to receive full credit for participation.

He is one of my favorite professors. With the zoom meetings, you are having your camera on because you are going to be presenting and participating alot. He helps you get over your comfort zone of presenting in front of a class. It is a very fun class and I would take communications all over again if I have the chance to again.

Professor Shannon was great. As someone who is rather shy and introverted, Professor Shannon was extremely encouraging and made me feel comfortable getting in front of the class. It is extremely easy to get a good grade in his class as long as you do your work and participate.

I took Mr. Shannon years ago, but I had to write about his effect on me. I graduated from Loma Linda & I just got a great job as a pharmacist. Professor Shannon wrote several letters of recommendations to help me get into colleges & he helped me to get several scholarships. He goes above & beyond. VERY cool guy, lets you retake almost anything but at the cost of a few points, makes everything clear in the course and he's hilarious too. He immerses himself with the class very well.
