Excellent teacher, enthralling class discussions. He utilized all teaching tools available to him. Class was never dull.
Requires lots of reading and note taking to pass the tests. If your willing to work your butt off, you'll pass. If your planning on making an "easy 'a'" this is not the class for you. Very informative, helpful, and overall good professor who knows his stuff. Just know you'll be working ( or not working) for your grade.
Great teacher, knows his stuff and isnt boring!
He is one great teacher for Government. He knows what he is talking about, and if you take good notes and listen to his lectures, an A in the test is not hard at all. After get out of his class, I know a whole lot more stuffs that interest me in Government that I have never notice before.
Mr. Skorick is a great teacher. There was never a dual moment in the class. He gives pop quiz so read what he tells you to read. He gives extra credit to help your grade. Highly recommend.
Great professor! He is fun and cool. Make sure you read the chapters before class because he does pop quizes.
One of the best professors I've had at Brookhaven. As long as you listen and take good notes; you'll do great in this class! He has a great personality and makes the class fun!! I HIGHLY recommend this professor! I thought the class was going to be difficult at first but it really wasn't bad at all.
Incredible professor, best at Brookhaven!
Good professor and one of my favorites. As long as you pay attention you'll pass. I never cracked open my book and I passed with a B. Gives good lectures.
He is one of the best teachers i have had in this campus and the fact he likes the best hockey team is even better :D
His class is as easy as you make it. If you do what he tells you to, you'll pass with flying colors. When it comes to the tests half of it is over the book and half is over notes in class. If you attend class and read the book you'll do great.
He is a good teacher, I have a high C but thats because I am not working hard enough. The extra credit is stupid it is to much for one point only and he does lecture good and love the movies he shows us. Hes alright not the best but good enough.PS. you do gotta work hard to get an A
Great professor! I was a little intimidated in his class because it was the 1st time I was learning about the US govt and did not participate in discussions. He made govt a lot of fun though! I have to say he is also quite handsome! At the end of the semester in one way or another I would have asked him out if he was not married..too bad he is!!!
This was my first time taking a government class. I have no interest in government and probably could have done better in class if I put in more of an effort. While I did do all of the work, Dr. Skorick's writing assignments seemed to be a bit difficult. I feel as though he expected too much and was extremely tough when it came to grading papers.
I took his class online Fall 10 and recieved an A, However I put a lot of time into this class. He grades hard and requires a TON of writing!!! The essays are the majority of your grade. This teacher does know his stuff though.
This class is pretty regurgitative in its setup....there are a LOT of nit-picky details often used in test material. If you're not so good at remembering black and white facts and spitting them out verbatim, this may not be for you.
Before this course I really had no interest at all in government. Skorick made the class interesting and as long as you keep up with the work, you will do okay. I thought it was going to be boring but it was the best class i took this semester. For people that want to transfer, this is the class for you. He makes it very clear that his intention is
SPR '11 Online. Dr. Skoricks bark on his syllabus is much worse than his bite. There are 3 Units each w/ a Discussion board, Essay, & timed exam. There was also a Film Review Essay w/the last Unit due. He is extremely clear on his sylllabus and sticks to the dates, very fast at posting grades. Overall good class if you don't mind writing.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! Immediately his very 1st announcement: man w/ huge EGO, CHIP on his shoulder, has something to prove as young professor, "call me doctor ONLY" ?s will be answered w/ remarks made so u feel inadequate, HATE GOVT NOW. Good & bad teachers in past, but by far this the WORST PROFESSOR! Personality: Puts you down to lift himself up
He's a really great teacher. Makes the subject interesting. This class actually made me like government. My advice if you take this teacher: READ the textbook, quizzes will be easy.
Excellent professor grades are fair but strict. He gives perfect critiques which truely improved my writing and thought process. I would recommend this professor to anyone who wants to learn rather then just recieve a grade.
Test are hard and written complex, but you can take them twice. This class was online and it required more work than previous online classes, but I learned more also. This class will demand your best and I like to be challenged. Glad I picked Dr. Skorick,I believe his class has better prepared me for university level classes.
Dr. Skorick is a fine professor if you get your reading done and quizzes answered. He talks alot and is sometimes overwhelming. His class is relatively fun.
Dr. Skorick is a great prof. he is so enthusiastic about politics, you cannot help but to fall in love with it as well. i had him for both 1301 and 2302, its true you will have to work hard but i learned a lot more than just government in this class. def take his class you won't regret it!
Mr. Skorick is a fantastic teacher. You will actually learn the material. He is a very smart professor, and he makes lecture very interesting. I looked forward to going to his class. You have to read and study, but it is worth it in the end! Definitely take him for government.
I took his class online. there was more work than average and he graded essays harder than average as well. The most demanding class so far (after A&P) I would recommend him to people getting ready for a university. His test are filled with complex wording so know your vocabulary. Take him if you like a challenge
Wonderful teacher, that really teaches instead of just memorization. you must attend class, and complete the work. Though the annotation essay is demanding, you are told at the beginning of the semester so there is plenty of time to complete the work. I would reccommend him if you take your education as your responsiblity and not the teachers.
Dr.Skorick's class was so much fun! His style of teaching is really great because he talks to us like adults and makes the class more interesting. I am so glad I took his class because it really opened my eyes to the way our government works and how we can make a difference. Take Dr.Skorick's class to learn more about worldly connections.
Very professional Instructor who is passionate about what he teaches. I have chosen to take Dr. Skorick again for Govt II. Outstanding.
Do not take his class - he likes to create a lot of unnecessary work for his students. He needs to take himself less seriously. If you're only taking this class to fulfill your core requirements, avoid him, if you want to pursue something along the lines of government, you'll enjoy him. Good luck!
One of the best professors I have ever had. Crazy smart, knows his stuff, and sets high standards at the start of the course. He is tough on the writing assignments but after passing his course I feel like I can pass any course in college. I strongly recommend him to anyone serious about college. Don't take if you're looking for a blow off course.
I think he is the best professor at Brookhaven. Everyone knows he is a bit of a hard ass, but he seriously challenges you to think and work. He is passionate about teaching and politics. He's also a gamer nerd, which I liked. His classes were never boring. Like others have said, def NOT a blow-off course.
Took Skorick's Maymester on campus. Very intense, 3 hours every day monday thru friday. I expected it to be boring but he made it very interesting and kept the class moving. Really awesome and smart professor. Lots of reading, discussion and short video clips used to help you learn. You can tell he loves teaching and expects a lot from his students. I wish we had profs like him at UNT.
Stellar professor. Extremely intelligent and good sense of humor. Solid communication, feedback, and course organization. Nice to FINALLY have an online course where you actually are challenged and do more than read a book and take some tests.
I took both 2301 and 2302 both are hard and challenging but you learn alot. He is very funny and smart
He is very smart, knows what he is teaching. A little challenging but that is what makes the class interesting. I would definitely recommend him
Highly recommended! I already took 1301 and 1302 with him. His online class is extremely well-organized and he posts in the board in a timely manner. You can expect a good feedback which helps you to improve. A lot of work but you will learn about politics for sure.
LOVED this professor! No classes were ever boring. Tests not that hard as long as you study and take notes. HE DOES GIVE RANDOM POP QUIZZES but they are normally open note so just be prepared and you will be ok.
This class was the most challenging I took in 3 yrs at Brookhaven. You have to actually work to pass. Doesn't take attendance, but if you miss class you fall behind FAST. I felt like his class gave me INSANE confidence in my ability to finish college, unlike other courses here. I wish I'd had more professors like Skorick, esp. early on. LOVE him!
Great professor. Highly recommend you take this one or Prof. Din at Brookhaven. Both are A++++
Dr. Skorick is passionate about his classes and expects the same from his students, rightfully so. I greatly appreciated his unbiased dedication to the importance of government in our society as well as historically throughout the world. Do yourself a favor and take his class...but be prepared to earn your grade and participate. Bill Michel
He's a really great teacher. Very, very passionate. He made Govt interesting and fun!
Okay, so I practically made this thread to make his easiness rankings go up guys. He is very easy, however, if you do all of the work. A bit strict and by the book, but that is because of the phD. You can make an A; he does offer extra credit too! good luck Take him online!!!!!!! Breeze to pass the class!
If you're only taking this class to fulfill your core classes and this is not going to be part of your life-long career & doesn't interest you--STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY! This goes beyond understanding the basics, concepts, and ideas. The workload is unnecessary for a basic. Trust me, I took this during the summer; too much work for any semester.
I took this class during the summer. The teacher made this class hard and tedious. The reading of the book was quite easy, the quizzes were too difficult, with two tries, I still only made C's and I am an A student. Discussion boards are difficult, pointless, and add an essay and end of semester project. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR.
Top-ranked professor! Very clear and focused. Apparently people expect to have everything handed to them these days. He's not easy, but he's not horrible either. Just like any other quality college class, you do the work and you get the grade you deserve. I got an A and I worked my butt off. I was so proud of myself to get an A in his class!
Tough but fair. Amount of work was what I expected for a summer course. I would take him again
Howdy Ags! Apparently a bunch of us took Skorick this summer since he is a former student! WHOOOP!!! Anyways, Skorick's online 2305 was super organized and clear, but it wasn't as easy as some of the other online courses you can find. My roomate took his 2306 and said it was the same
Very hard class! Took online. 14 chapter tests, 30 questions in 30 minutes. Chapters are around 40 pages long, very detailed. Essays and discussion boards have to have citations. Can't use text book for references. Crazy!! If you are going to major in government, go for it. Don't forget the POTUS. This class was tough!! Earned a "B"
People here give a bad review that scare you off or you get that kid who is a kiss ass which wont help unless you are a kiss ass yourself. Yes he is a hard teacher, but he gives you all the tools to succeed. No I didnt make an A on the class but I didnt fail either. He has tought me the most out of all professors iv had He is an incredible teacher.
If you are a very organized person then this class will be fine. Everything is laid out well but he goes a bit overboard on his policies. I forgot to post a 100 word response on a discussion board and it resulted in me receiving a 50% on the project. In my opinion that is just ridiculous. If that drops me from an A to a B I will be livid
Despite such a challenging class, I enjoyed his lectures. They were engaging and inspiring. He is really dedicated and knowledgeable about his major. He is willing to give hard-working students opportunities to gain good grades as long as they show him their progress. Above all, I am one of his "fans" !
This professor was not a good one. If you are in a short term class, that does not mean unload all the chapters onto your students. He was not helpful. He spent more time sending harassment emails instead of lending a hand and assisting the students. I recommend no one take this class with this professor. I definitely did not enjoy the class at all
I have less than 4 weeks left in this class and I have zero idea where I stand. The only grades I have received are from the automated quizes. None of the major assignments have been graded and the course ends in 4 weeks. Professor is definitely disengaged from the course and has only communicated to students twice. Frustrating.
Prof. Skorick is definitely a challenging teacher. His tests weren't hard as the answers mostly are from the book, but his research papers had my brain on stressful mode. Overall, I passed and I'm glad he offers extra credit. I would definitely take him again but not with other heavy classes.
One of the best online courses I've taken. Skorick's expectations and grading policies were crystal clear and he gave great feedback on my assignments. Lots of writing, but it really forced me to think about the topics. Would take again in a heartbeat.
I took the first half of the gov requirement through him and goodness gracious, it is not an easy A like I was expecting through community college. He's an extremely tough grader and very picky on how you cite sources. I would not take him again.
Dr. Skorick is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is super smart and really helped me out on the course essay. It was a tough course but I learned so much. Im taking him again for 2306.
Allowed us access to class a day or two early to start. The syllabus very clearly outlined the deadlines and what is expected from each assignment. Had 2 units 2 weeks long. Overall 9 chapters read with 9 tests 25 questions each, two 800 word essays, 2 discussion boards, and one final 1000 word essay for 25% of class grade.
I took Prof. Skorick for Govt 2305 and now 2306. He is challenging and I normally don't take professors like him but I'm glad that I did. He makes you work for you grade but you do learn from him. I suggest any student looking for a government class to take him for 2305 and 2306.
Lots of quizzes, but they're generic. 2 papers which were long and difficult which he graded hard, but his grading criteria was pretty clear. Sometimes feedback wasn't too descriptive. High workload and fast paced.
8 WEEKS CLASS, WITH LOTS OF WORK TO COVER. GET READY TO WORK HARD AND REGRET. CHALLENGING AND GET HARASSING EMAILS.
He might be smart but his too hard. too many chapters to cover for 8weeks. cant recommend to anyone. RUNN!!
Took the class online in the summer. He's a great professor in regards to helpfulness and outlining the course. The amount of work and requirements in the class is INSANE. I've never had that much work in a class before! I told one of my professors about the work I have for Skorick's class and he said it sounded like a grad level course!
If you take a class with Dr. Skorick prepare for lots and LOTS of reading. 12 chapters of reading in the first couple weeks. A midterm essay, essay proposal, and 16 quizzes/tests within the first 4 weeks. Insanely hard. Professor wants at least 3 works cited for all essays as well. This is a graduate level class with how it is operated. It is HARD!
I took Skorick for both 2305 and 2306. Focus on the writing (discussion boards and essays) and don't worry about the quizzes. His course heavily emphasizes writing and critical thinking. I learned a lot from him about how to write college research papers. I wish he taught more courses. Awesome professor.
Dr. Skorick is the greatest and toughest professor I've had at Brookhaven. Before his class I used to showup and basically pass everything. I barely passed bcz I thought I could do the same thing. "College is hard" is his saying. he challenged me to step up and be a serious college student. Be prepared before class and take massive notes!
His online course was pretty easy as long as you can stick to a schedule
I had taken Mark Skorick class in Fall 16. He is a really professional experienced professor. If you really want to learn something about the subject, you should take him. You have to spend quality time in the subject matter as tests are from his notes and text books which are not that easy. He gives extra credits. 2 tests, 2 essays and no finals.
Took winter term with him. Good class but hard to keep up with my schedule. I got an A but had to really work for it. Syllabus is clear and assignments are weighed heavily on writing. Keep a strict schedule and get everything in on time and you'll be fine.
Great teacher
I took Dr. Skorick's summer course online. His syllabus was very detailed and descriptive, almost a little condescending. He will give you back your essays for revising & take away a full letter grade afterwards. This class felt more like an English class to me. I worked so hard and managed to scrape by with a C! Maybe he's better in person?
He seems to be a great instructor, but I couldnt get passed his assumptions ( blames you from r using Wikipedia when we all know we cannot) and all around rudeness!!! Im used to being instructors that care, he could care less and refuses to answer any questions when you ask; questions (i.e. citations, and what are they) thanks for nothing!
Professor Skorick is incredibly organized and professional. He is one of the hardest teachers I have ever had but he made his expectations clear from the beginning of the semester. If you ever have any questions, he is quick to respond. This class was hard but worth it.
time seems everything. No options of late submission. Replies mail slow and sometime even don't reply.
I took GOVT 2306 online with Dr. Skorick and it was a great choice. He is concise about what he wants the students to do and when he wants them done... He is easily accessible via email. He is a great professor and makes Texas Government interesting.
What is expected of you in this class and due dates are clear. If you procrastinate, you will not pass! Due dates are put far out, so you have to plan accordingly. Very fair grader.
Took Skorick online (Govt 2305 & 2306) twice for the Wintersemester and for the Maymester. Didn't get to meet him in person, but really seems like a good person. His work isn't too difficult plus his schedule is easy to follow. He does well in responding to email.
GET a different professor to save your grade
I took him the 2305 class for maymester. There was a lot of work and you couldnt slack off but the class material was not hard. If you dont like writing, he might not be the best teacher for you.
Great professor and class but had to work for it because I had never written a research paper . Don't take if writing is hard for you, esp. citations and references. Feedback i got was some of the best I've ever had from any prof. Super strict on due dates. He was hard but i learned so much and would take again.
I took his class online and really enjoyed it. If youre not good at writing, you might struggle, but other than that you should be perfectly fine. He gives you a lot of time for due dates and the work isnt too difficult.
Very good class. He is very strict about due dates and paper requirements. The policy paper took a lot of time but he gave good instructions and great feedback. Always responded with helpful advice. The class uses inquizitive but the writing is more important. I would not take this class if you haven't done a college research paper before.
This professor has very rigid requirements to be met, and if you don't meet them you will not get a grade. In my opinion he has very high standards for a core class at community college. Not for students who have issues with references, grammar, or those just needing to knock out another core class.
He is a honey badger of a professor. Read the syllabus line by line and follow directions. Use the resource center that he provides to find academic journal references. It took a lot of time to research, but I learned a lot. He has very high writing expectations, but I would expect that from a college course. Cite everything (Simon 16).
Would not recommend this professor for govt core classes. Assigned readings have nothing to do with the massive papers he assigns. I found the paper prompts to be difficult, even with a ton of background in writing reports. If you're looking for government basics, this is not the class for you. Made good grades, but the class was way too much work
Good class and great professor. I took his govt 2306 online during the summer and thought it was very well organized and all assignments were clear. His feedback on written work was clear and helped me get an A on the final paper. He uses InQuizitive which just requires time but you are guaranteed the points if you work at it.
Great online class and very organized. Lots of quizzes which were not difficult and one research paper, but he gives good feedback on the proposal so it wasn't too hard. You can work ahead and finish the quizzes quickly and basically be done a few weeks into the course with just the paper left.
Anyone complaining about this professor is not cut out for college. They want to do the minimum amount of work possible and receive a good grade. You have to work for your grade in this class and as long as you show up to all the lectures you shouldn't have any trouble passing. I didn't open the text book once yet i received an A.
If you are not very good at writing, do not take him. He cares more about your English skills than your history knowledge skills.
Took his wintermester which does mean everything must be done faster, but all the assignments that are required seemed pointless since all he cares about is the research paper. You can make a 100 on all the hw assignments but if u don't do well on the paper u fail the class. Would not recommend especially if you're not good with English.
I will never take a class with him again based on my own experience but I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he had a bad semester or something because others seem to like him. Be prepared to literally have flawless essays. My last essay made me fail because it was not perfect. He grades too hardly for such an irrelevant class.
Failed this class the first time I took it because I never took any English courses like they recommend and honestly had no idea how to write a research paper. After taking those courses I sailed through this class. He gave great feedback on my work and I am a better student for taking him.
Class wasn't hard at all if you can write a basic research paper. Pay attention to the minimum or mandatory requirements in his course because he really means it. I submitted everything in advance and got great feedback on my work. He runs/teaches his course exactly like other ones I have taken at TAMU. He is also a former student! Gig'em!
Online Govt 2305. Uses InQuizitive for assignments that can be time consuming so you must not be a procrastinator. If you are, this class is not for you. Easy A if you complete assignments by the due date and know how to complete a basic research paper. Will be taking this instructor again. I learned a lot in this course.
Toughest grader i've ever had and really peculiar in his instructions.
Summer 2306 Govt Online: Very well organized and all assignments guidelines were clear. Syllabus is clear and you must complete assignments exactly as stated in the guidelines. He is very strict with deadlines. All assignments must be completed by the deadline, if not, you will possibly fail. Great instructor!
Terrible professor; wouldn't recommend anyone taking him if you're trying to get a good grade. He's a very tough grader. Gives terrible feedback; if you send him an email regarding something, he tells you what you already know and simply refers you to a document in ecampus. Overall, I wish I took someone else.
This man only cares about if you can format a paper and your English skills. His assignments absolutely do not prepare you for the tests- the test was full of random bits of info from the book that if you did not read word for word, you would not know. The policy paper is nearly impossible to pass. I would take literally anyone else.
He is a tough professor but you have to work hard to earn a good grade. His exams are very tough because you almost have to study and memorize prior to taking his exams -they are lockdown so no outside materials permitted.
Great class and not too difficult. Do the work and you will pass. Gave great feedback on assignments and I did way better than I thought I would.
Take his class! Due dates and assignment gudelines are very clear. Just follow the calendar and get your work in before the due dates and you will be fine. he gave me great advice on how to improve my paper and I end ed up getting an A in the class. It really wasn't that hard.
I put a lot of effort in my papers and he gave me the worst garde because my reply post does not meet minimum requirements like if he does not car about the paper itself. It got a B but I really thought I was going to fail this class. So if you are looking for an easy class, this one is not. It took it online though.
Took his online course. Very clear instructions and course layout. He is very strict about deadlines but you can do all of the assignments as fast as you like. I got great feedback on my discussions and papers. He told me how to fix everything and where to look for examples. I plan on taking him for the other government course.
His class was really not hard at all. I took good notes and was fine. His exams are all based on lectures. He basically gives you the exam questions at the start of every class when he reviews what was covered in the previous lecture and asks you to talk about it. That and working on the paper got me an A.
Very good course and teacher. Class is very organized on eCampus and grading info in the syllabus is very clear.
One of the greatest professors I have ever had. I have learned so much in his class.
Took him online and the class is super organized and clear. Taking him again for 2306. You can work ahead but cannot go back and turn work in after a deadline. He has one research paper, Inquizitive, and discussion assignmnts
How hard are his exams are they online?
I put a lot of effort in my papers and he gave me the worst garde because my Proposal and my final paper had different sources cited. He is a tough grader. I got D.i spent 1k to have D. We all the effort I put in it despite having coronavirus I made sure I do all the homework. Believe me DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
I took Professor Skorick for Summer II online, and it was a quick and straightforward class. I didn't really have a lot of contact with him, but he was really diligent about sending emails with all the information about deadlines, answering questions, and extra credit work. I don't like government, but I would take it again with him.
so bad never again. He never gives good feedback at all through email. he took days to grade the paper that took me weeks to do and the worst news. never taking him again your whole grade is depends on one essay...
I took GOVT2306 to take care of my Texas government requirement before starting at UT Austin. I did the May term and it moved extremely quickly. If you choose that short time frame be prepared to read a lot . Prof Skorick's syllabus and assignments were crystal clear and he gave constructive feedback.
Terrible professor. This guy gave me an extremely low grade on a paper and did not add any notes to it for me to revise. Takes forever for him to respond to emails and an overall heavy grader. Would not recommend his online course.
Prof. Skorick may be the greatest online professor I have ever had! I was so nervous about the class and so much writing but I kept emailing him questions and he always answered back with clear instructions and advice. By the end of the course I felt so confident in what I learned. I worked my butt off and he helped so much.I am so glad I took him!
Please do not pay attention to the negative reviews. Dr. Skorick is a PHENOMENAL professor! He genuinely wants you to do well. Communicate with him from the very beginning and do not procrastinate. Email him your questions and ask him to look over your work. He provides excellent feedback! If you work hard, you will for sure succeed in this course!
Professor Skorick is one of the most helpful professors I've ever had. You can email him any questions you have and he will thoroughly answer them for you with no judgement. The class is not an easy A but DEFINITELY achievable because he's the type that wants his students to pass and they will as long as they work for it.
This class was by far the hardest class I have ever taken, I was stressed all the time. I would ask questions and the professor would not be much help or would say that he didnt know how to help me, which would stress me out even more. If you want to pass this class you have to work your butt off because the professor isnt much of help.
Great class and I would take Skorick again. Super organized and he was super quick to get back to me and help me out whenever I got stuck. InQuizitive made reading the textbook interesting.
Professor gives very detailed instructions in the syllabus and the course orientation (online course). Just read and follow all instructions, complete all assignments on time and you will pass the course. The policy proposal and policy paper are the most difficult part of the course and they are mandatory to pass the course. Very good instructor.
I was very happy with how his online class was set up. This class was divided into two units with 14 InQuizitive assignments, 2 discussion boards, and policy proposal essay. Totally recommend!
Professor Skorick is the best! He is helpful and great at updating students with emails. His homework is easy! The 2-3 papers per semester is average college work. He gives great feedback and cares about his students. I highly recommend Professor Skorick.
Mr. Skorick is a very punctual and professional professor, he may seem like a tough professor but he is just trying to prepare you for what an actual 4- year college is like, he has great lectures and doesn't just read of the slides like every other boring government professor
Rarely replies to emails, and lots of work due each week. Make sure you do the discussion boards because they are a good chunk of your grade.
If you tend to leave assignments at the last minute, you dislike writing for a class, don't like reading the textbook and don't want a heart attack at the end of the month, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. His class is easy until the discussion posts and it's pretty much a mini essay w/ citations, it's a big part of the grade... save yourself the trouble..
Pros: Extra credit, clear on expectations with assignment and grading. Cons: He can be a bit condescending.
Class was set up pretty easily, essays are the hardest assignments but with a 250 word minimum and a 150 word minimum reply they should max take like 2-3 hours most of it being research. The chapter book assignments and tests are online so even if you struggle you can easily study and get the right answers. Pretty easy class would recommended
Great professor, took him for a summer course. Communicated expectations clearly and the work is all online. The only hard part is the discussion posts and reply, just make sure you do citations and good research.
I adore this professor, I still think about how much of an impact his lectures made on me. He is very encouraging and wants the best for people who are ready to put in the work. If you slack in your academics or college is not ur no.1 focus I wouldn't take his class because it requires effort and participation.
The class itself was easy. For me, the discussion boards were the hardest part, but everything else was simple. There was 3 exams and 3 discussion boards. The ebooks and inquizitives were easy too but time consuming. One thing I don't like is he never responds to my emails, or questions.
3 tests, 2 essays, and Inquisitive assignments. If your someone who slacks off and puts everything last minute DO NOT take this class also if writing is not your thing don't take it, essays require research and certain requirements so don't do them last minute. Study for tests, take notes, do everything on time.Overall great professor and lectures.
The homework was not horrible but he grades hard and is very particular and he is very rude. I emailed him for help because he kept giving me bad grades on some of my assignments and I did not understand what I did wrong and he replied with a short sentence. On his comments on my homework he was very rude and I would not take this class again.
I took this course as a 5-week and it's very time intensive but manageable; as long as you don't procrastinate you'll be fine. There are 3 units each with ebook assignments, InQuizitives, a DB, and an exam. He gives clear expectations for the discussion boards which are basically mini papers and you need to follow them closely to get a good grade.
Professor Skorick's class has a good amount of work, but he's helpful and gives clear guidance. Using resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook is key to doing well. The online format works well if you stay on top of assignments.
He's not really nice and he grades without consideration. He might have good intentions but I won't advise anyone to take his class. I'm not an art major students and I've taken many research classes and I never had the same issues I had with him with my other classes. I'm just glad to be done with the class.
This is not an easy class. He takes 3 tests. The tests are inperson and very tough.
The professor should reconsider his career path, in that, some folks are just not meant to teach community college students. The professor is very book smart but lacks common sense in how to create a fun atmosphere of learning. He would do very well at phd teaching or a political research organization. He berates students and not once affirms them.
Please pay close attention to the negative reviews here. The professor gives extra credit if you are making good grades in his class and is the best at being punitive. My hope is that he finds a better fit for his career. Passion is supposed to be caught by the students from the professor but passion is not caught, it's a missed opportunity.
The professor was over the top heavy on emphasizing research paper technique in discussions rather than promoting thoughtful engagement of ideas. He should be teaching a writing class in the English department not overly emphasizing the importance of writing techniques in a Texas history class. I learned nothing in this class due to the professor.
This professor is tough; however, he is very specific in the syllabus regarding expectations. Be sure to read ALL of the instructions. Course is writing-heavy. If discussion posts are not cited correctly, he deducts. Professor Skkorick responds quickly to emails. When I had a question, he explained what I needed to do in clear and concise detail.
10/10 professor. Very passionate about his job and has high expectations of his students. His courses can be highly challenging if you don't study, procrastinate, or don't understand the material. VERY lecture-heavy if you're in person; not much homework besides the inquisitive assignments that are due the day of exams.
Dr.Skorick was the worst professor I have experienced. The course lacked a clear, structured syllabus, and assignment dates were often unclear, yet grading was strict.Communication and flexibility were minimal.Overall, the class felt disorganized and unsupportive, and I would not recommend taking a course with him.
His teachings can be challenging someone like myself with special needs. If you're gonna take any semesters with him. You have to understand his explanations for the assignments. The material isn't easy to read which can be difficult if you're looking to get credits. Do not try to take an online classes with him because you will get lost.
