The best writing teacher you will have. Very cool and laid-back. All you have to do is write a decent paper and participate in class discussions. Get him as your teacher if you can!

He's involved with his students and cares about how well they do. Always there to help. Class will put you to sleep because he doesn't really teach. All you do is write 4 or 5 papers and you're done. take him it's easy.

Only had to read 4 books for a Great Works class. SUPER nice guy, very into the books and his students. Worries about you and your grade for you. Grade based on a couple papers and 1 test.

This class is SO BORING!! you just sit there and listen to him talk about nothing. He is a nice guy tho. There are no tests, only 4 papers. He grades tough but just write a good paper and you will do fine!

The class itself is very dry and boring if you do not have a passion for writing. He is energetic and cares about the subject he is teaching, wants his students to do well. Nice guy!

Great man, learns everyone's name, and ends classes early a lot! Take him if you can. He's very funny and I was amazed at some of the things that he said...TAKE HIM!

If you have to take this class he is not a bad professor at all. If you just write a paper and turn it in you will get a C on it. If you actually try to write a good paper you'll get an A or B. There are easier Gwrit teachers and harder gwrit teachers.

Kinda a weird guy, but very nice. Class is soooo boring, but he comes last and lets you out early. Not a tuff grader, but not easy either.

he is so boring. he talks really slow and drags every sentence out. you write 4 papers which are 88% of your grade. the rest is from attendance and participation. i recommend taking someone else. he is a fair grader though, but he is a weird guy.

kind of strange guy, class is pretty boring but interesting at times...pretty easy grader, no tests just papers...very helpful if u need anything...take attendance...recommend this class if ur taking other difficult classes at the same time.

Hes a really nice guy, really sexy, and knows his stuff. His American Studies class can get a bit boring with analyzing readings, but hes really smart and has some very interesting opinions and ideas. Doesnt believe in busywork, and grades fairly.

A brilliant teacher and man. Hes one of a very few number of teachers that actually made me want to learn about stuff that I would normally stay away from. There are easier Geneds, but why not take one that you actually learn from?

He might be the most boring person ever, but he's also one of the most conciderate. 4 papers easy grader, understands if you have to miss class(emailbeforehand) VERY helpful!

really fair grader, we just did a couple of papers and read out of this book the entire year, he is the best teacher to get for this class! don't get me wrong the class is ULTRA exciting, but you can get by with a B or better no problem!

One of the nicest teachers ive had. However, his class is PAINFULLY boring. If attendance wasnt mandatory, i wouldnt have gone to a single one. Hes an easy grader and always available to help tho. Hes cool.

He's a little bit of a tough grader, but EXTREMELY helpful. If you send him a draft a few days in advance he always seems willing to review it and tell you how to improve it. He is extremely intelligent and easy to talk to.

I would say to get Prof. Thomas if you can. He's very excited to be teaching and he clearly appreciates it when people show up to class and participate. He's super-nice and very eager to improve your writing and outlook. Only gripe is that class runs late occasionally. Walk out if you must.

Not too bad of a teacher. Very boring lectures that are completely useless to anything or anybody. Has an attendance policy, grades pretty tough and doesn't allow for a rewrite. Paper topics are unclear and boring. Gwrit is not a fun class no matter what, so I guess he is tolerable.

This man is a very nice guy, however he grades the toughest out of any gwrit teacher on campus. I went to the writing center for every paper, and all they talked about was how hard this man is to please with writing. You will learn a lot about writing, but you might have to sacrafice an easy A.

He rambles at times, but overall he is a nice guy and really wants to help. A def. easy B. and it isn't that hard to get an A. Just let him read your paper before you turn it in and you will get an A. He is also very helpful and understanding

Awesome professor! I honestly don't like to read and I wasn't looking forward to taking a class where the description was "intensive reading and writing required." Mark changed my opinion about english classes in general. Very helpful if you ask for it. He'll like your class if the class participates in discussion. TAKE HIM!!!

Talented professor, when there are questions, he will take plenty of time to address them in anyway possible so that you can understand the issue at hand. He is very easy to work with. Attendance policy, but he can work with you if you are sick or such. He is a solid professor, I reccommend.

Very talented professor. Expects solid work of his students though. Writing is argumentitive in nature, at times political. The course is interesting, but largely so because you can see Dr. Thomas' passion for the class. Will gladly meet you to discuss your work at any time. One of the most available professors out there. Highly reccommend!

This man is always available, always helpful, and has a positive attitude. Sometimes the classes can be quite slow but what GWRIT 103 isnt. He really makes an effort when it comes to knowing his students and will respect you if you simply do your work. Recommend.

One of JMU's most impressive professors. He is knowledgeable beyond belief and will be happy to assist you however he can. 4 papers make up your grade. You may revise and rewrite two of them. There is an attendance policy, I believe 2 free passes. More often than not, class is about 30-40 minutes,and will let you leave early. Great professor.Gethim

Incredibly easy, just read the novel and it's an easy B. Only 2 papers.

He's a good teacher, he is sooo knowledgable about what he teaches. i just read the sparknotes and i do fine. there is an attendence policy but you get 3 free passes. classes are boring but if you put some effort into the paper, youll do fine.

boring boring boring, but easy. 3 books, 3 papers, 1 final paper. go to class and take notes on his ramblings because you can actually use them in your papers...sometimes. if you participate in discussions and go to office hours for your papers, you probably get a good grade.

A good prof really, I am sure he is better than most GWRIT profs, he gives reasonable deadlines and is willing to work around your schedule and help you in anyways possible, 4 papers, can rewrite too virtually no additional assingments that count. Attendance is required. If hes avaliable I would take him again

He was a goofy guy. He is a new prof. but he is a really nice. He tells weird stories but they are funny. He seems like a cool guy who likes to kick back and read some novels with a good glass of wine. Read the stories he assigns and you are golden. Participate in class and be a catalyst for class disscusion; he will love you.

Great Teacher. He is willing to help you as much as you need it. He wants everyone in his class to pass so he tries his hardest to help. Four papers and you can re-do three of them. I would take him again in a heartbeat

TAKE HIM! 4 papers, all 4-6 pages. The first 3 you can redo if you don't like your grade. You can have 3 absences without explaining yourself. A lot of class discussion and editing papers. Really easy class. Really easy A.

I LOVE THIS MAN. He is hilarious. Tells the funniest and craziest stories and never takes himself seriously. Take this class. It's very easy if you show up and listen to what he has to say. He gives pop quizzes. Tests are pretty easy. Participate and he will love you. Also ask for stories! Not a class goes by when I don't laugh my ass off.

EASY GRADER. he really does favor you if you participate. funny guy. take him. you do get pop reading quizes but for some reason i always did well eventhoug my answers rwere wrong

he's awesome! the material is kind of difficult and uninteresting if you're not into english lit, but he makes the class pretty easy and definitely hilarious. he's really nice and has some funny random stories. 5 pop quizzes, two tests, one other assignment, and a research paper, no final. he loves participation or if you just act interested.

4 papers, with the first 3 allowed to be rewritten. Professor Thomas is one of my favorite professors at the school. Whereas he can be a tough grader, he is always available to assist you in any way you need. Also one of the most caring professors I've come across, and one of the few professors I would take again in a heartbeat.

Ridiculously easy if you can keep up with the reading. There's a lot, but HEY- It's a lit class. Lots of class discussion. He speaks like he's writing- stops sentences often and rephrases them, so you need to pay attention. Participate, know what you're talking about, know how to BS an essay, and you'll be golden.

Dr. Thomas is amazing! It's a lot of reading, but he's very open to giving you more time to read if it's absolutely necessary. DEFINITELY take him for this class!

Dr. Thomas is genuinely such a caring person, and he really wants you to do well in the class and with your writing. Interesting to listen to and he tries to make paper topics interesting, too. He broadens the scope of learning to many more aspects than writing papers. Take him!!!

One of the nicest teachers in the school. Truly cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. 4 papers during the year but that's really it. He can grade kind of tough but if you get on his good side, he'll love you. Just show you appreciate him. Take him for gwrit for sure.

He is seriously so so nice! however he isn't the easiest grader and his instructions are not particularly clear for assignments. He is very willing to help you and he doesn't have an attendance policy.

He is a very nice guy,he does go off on different topics once in a while. But he is a good professor and is always willing to help you out. Just 3 papers in the semester and some really short readings. He is quite easy going and chill.
